Thermoplastics such as polypropylene, polyethylene and polystyrene or any engineering plastic with low thermal resistance can be joined using solar energy harnessed through a solar energy concentrator (SEC). The length of time for completion of the process depends on absorption, transmission and reflectivity of the thermoplastics.
