In light of the growing proportion of older individuals in our society, the timely diagnosis of Alzheimer's disease has become a crucial aspect of healthcare. In this paper, we propose a non-invasive and cost-effective detection method based on speech technology. The method employs a pre-trained language model in conjunction with techniques such as prompt fine-tuning and conditional learning, thereby enhancing the accuracy and efficiency of the detection process. To address the issue of limited computational resources, this study employs the efficient LORA fine-tuning method to construct the classification model. Following multiple rounds of training and rigorous 10-fold cross-validation, the prompt fine-tuning strategy based on the LLAMA2 model demonstrated an accuracy of 81.31\%, representing a 4.46\% improvement over the control group employing the BERT model. This study offers a novel technical approach for the early diagnosis of Alzheimer's disease and provides valuable insights into model optimization and resource utilization under similar conditions. It is anticipated that this method will prove beneficial in clinical practice and applied research, facilitating more accurate and efficient screening and diagnosis of Alzheimer's disease.

Medication recommendation is one of the most critical health-related applications, which has attracted extensive research interest recently. Most existing works focus on a single hospital with abundant medical data. However, many small hospitals only have a few records, which hinders applying existing medication recommendation works to the real world. Thus, we seek to explore a more practical setting, i.e., multi-center medication recommendation. In this setting, most hospitals have few records, but the total number of records is large. Though small hospitals may benefit from total affluent records, it is also faced with the challenge that the data distributions between various hospitals are much different. In this work, we introduce a novel conTrastive prEtrain Model with Prompt Tuning (TEMPT) for multi-center medication recommendation, which includes two stages of pretraining and finetuning. We first design two self-supervised tasks for the pretraining stage to learn general medical knowledge. They are mask prediction and contrastive tasks, which extract the intra- and inter-relationships of input diagnosis and procedures. Furthermore, we devise a novel prompt tuning method to capture the specific information of each hospital rather than adopting the common finetuning. On the one hand, the proposed prompt tuning can better learn the heterogeneity of each hospital to fit various distributions. On the other hand, it can also relieve the catastrophic forgetting problem of finetuning. To validate the proposed model, we conduct extensive experiments on the public eICU, a multi-center medical dataset. The experimental results illustrate the effectiveness of our model. Artificial intelligence (AI) has rapidly developed through advancements in computational power and the growth of massive datasets. However, this progress has also heightened challenges in interpreting the "black-box" nature of AI models. To address these concerns, eXplainable AI (XAI) has emerged with a focus on transparency and interpretability to enhance human understanding and trust in AI decision-making processes. In the context of multimodal data fusion and complex reasoning scenarios, the proposal of Multimodal eXplainable AI (MXAI) integrates multiple modalities for prediction and explanation tasks. Meanwhile, the advent of Large Language Models (LLMs) has led to remarkable breakthroughs in natural language processing, yet their complexity has further exacerbated the issue of MXAI. To gain key insights into the development of MXAI methods and provide crucial guidance for building more transparent, fair, and trustworthy AI systems, we review the MXAI methods from a historical perspective and categorize them across four eras: traditional machine learning, deep learning, discriminative foundation models, and generative LLMs. We also review evaluation metrics and datasets used in MXAI research, concluding with a discussion of future challenges and directions. Rendering photorealistic head avatars from arbitrary viewpoints is crucial for various applications like virtual reality. Although previous methods based on Neural Radiance Fields (NeRF) can achieve impressive results, they lack fidelity and efficiency. Recent methods using 3D Gaussian Splatting (3DGS) have improved rendering quality and real-time performance but still require significant storage overhead. In this paper, we introduce a method called GraphAvatar that utilizes Graph Neural Networks (GNN) to generate 3D Gaussians for the head avatar. Specifically, GraphAvatar trains a geometric GNN and an appearance GNN to generate the attributes of the 3D Gaussians from the tracked mesh. Therefore, our method can store the GNN models instead of the 3D Gaussians, significantly reducing the storage overhead to just 10MB. To reduce the impact of face-tracking errors, we also present a novel graph-guided optimization module to refine face-tracking parameters during training. Finally, we introduce a 3D-aware enhancer for post-processing to enhance the rendering quality. We conduct comprehensive experiments to demonstrate the advantages of GraphAvatar, surpassing existing methods in visual fidelity and storage consumption. Large Language Model (LLM) has transformative potential in various domains, including recommender systems (RS). There have been a handful of research that focuses on empowering the RS by LLM. However, previous efforts mainly focus on LLM as RS, which may face the challenge of intolerant inference costs by LLM. Recently, the integration of LLM into RS, known as LLM-Enhanced Recommender Systems (LLMERS), has garnered significant interest due to its potential to address latency and memory constraints in real-world applications. This paper presents a comprehensive survey of the latest research efforts aimed at leveraging LLM to enhance RS capabilities. We identify a critical shift in the field with the move towards incorporating LLM into the online system, notably by avoiding their use during inference. Our survey categorizes the existing LLMERS approaches into three primary types based on the component of the RS model being augmented: Knowledge Enhancement, Interaction Enhancement, and Model Enhancement. We provide an in-depth analysis of each category, discussing the methodologies, challenges, and contributions of recent studies. Furthermore, we highlight several promising research directions that could further advance the field of LLMERS.

Generalized Category Discovery is a significant and complex task that aims to identify both known and undefined novel categories from a set of unlabeled data, leveraging another labeled dataset containing only known categories. The primary challenges stem from model bias induced by pre-training on only known categories and the lack of precise supervision for novel ones, leading to category bias towards known categories and category confusion among different novel categories, which hinders models' ability to identify novel categories effectively. To address these challenges, we propose a novel framework named Self-Debiasing Calibration (SDC). Unlike prior methods that regard model bias towards known categories as an obstacle to novel category identification, SDC provides a novel insight into unleashing the potential of the bias to facilitate novel category learning. Specifically, the output of the biased model serves two key purposes. First, it provides an accurate modeling of category bias, which can be utilized to measure the degree of bias and debias the output of the current training model. Second, it offers valuable insights for distinguishing different novel categories by transferring knowledge between similar categories. Based on these insights, SDC dynamically adjusts the output logits of the current training model using the output of the biased model. This approach produces less biased logits to effectively address the issue of category bias towards known categories, and generates more accurate pseudo labels for unlabeled data, thereby mitigating category confusion for novel categories. Experiments on three benchmark datasets show that SDC outperforms SOTA methods, especially in the identification of novel categories. Nanolasers, characterized by enhanced optical localization at subwavelength scale, have emerged as promising coherent light sources for ultra-compact, high-speed and energy-efficient photonic integrated circuits. Twisted photonic crystal nanocavity, constructed by stacking two layers of photonic crystal structure with a specified rotation angle, enables strong light confinement with an ultra-small mode volume and an extremely high quality factor. The twisted angle can be randomly selected, providing the possibility of actively tuning the resonant wavelength and optical mode distribution within a nanoscale twisted cavity. Here, we demonstrate large-angle twisted single-mode photonic crystal nanolasers operating in the C-band with an exceptionally ultra-compact footprint of approximately 25 $\mu m^2$ and an ultra-small mode volume of 0.47 $(\lambda/n)^3$. The reported twisted photonic crystal nanolasers are optically pumped at room temperature with an ultra-low threshold of $\sim$ 1.25 $kW/cm^2$. Our work provides a prospective method for easily constructing robust nanolasers by twisting angles, and paves the way for achieving high-performance nanoscale coherent light sources for densely integrated photonic chips.

Gaze estimation encounters generalization challenges when dealing with out-of-distribution data. To address this problem, recent methods use neural radiance fields (NeRF) to generate augmented data. However, existing methods based on NeRF are computationally expensive and lack facial details. 3D Gaussian Splatting (3DGS) has become the prevailing representation of neural fields. While 3DGS has been extensively examined in head avatars, it faces challenges with accurate gaze control and generalization across different subjects. In this work, we propose GazeGaussian, a high-fidelity gaze redirection method that uses a two-stream 3DGS model to represent the face and eye regions separately. By leveraging the unstructured nature of 3DGS, we develop a novel eye representation for rigid eye rotation based on the target gaze direction. To enhance synthesis generalization across various subjects, we integrate an expression-conditional module to guide the neural renderer. Comprehensive experiments show that GazeGaussian outperforms existing methods in rendering speed, gaze redirection accuracy, and facial synthesis across multiple datasets. Density-integrated, multi-wavelength nanoscale lasers with ultra-low power consumption and ultra-compact footprints are essential for energy-efficient, fast and high-throughput data processing. Currently, on-chip multi-wavelength lasers predominantly rely on arrays of discrete large-scale conventional semiconductor lasers that are susceptible to the fabrication imperfections. Topological rainbow nanolasers, which spatially confine and emit specific topologically protected light frequencies, offer a prospective approach for achieving ultra-compact integrated multi-wavelength light sources with enhanced robustness against perturbations and defects. However, it remains a significant challenge to achieve highly localized topological rainbow trapping in nanocavities for laser emission with both high quality factors and ultra-small mode volumes. Here, we experimentally report ultra-compact topological photonic crystal rainbow nanolasers operating in the 1550 nm telecom band. Specifically, we present rainbow-like emission with uniform wavelength spacing and wavelength-scale mode volume $\sim 0.7 \left(\frac{\lambda}{n}\right)^3$ in a one-dimensional topological rainbow nanolaser, exhibiting robust lasing operation across a wide temperature range and a spectral tuning capability of approximately 70 nm. Additionally, we demonstrate an ultra-compact two-dimensional topological rainbow nanolaser in an exceptionally compact footprint of nearly 0.002 $\text{mm}^2$, featuring a broad rainbow spectra with 64 continuously tuned lasing peaks. Our work provides a promising method for realizing robust and nanoscale multi-wavelength tunable laser sources, paving the way for numerous potential applications in ultra-compact photonic chips.

Text-guided diffusion models have significantly advanced image editing, enabling high-quality and diverse modifications driven by text prompts. However, effective editing requires inverting the source image into a latent space, a process often hindered by prediction errors inherent in DDIM inversion. These errors accumulate during the diffusion process, resulting in inferior content preservation and edit fidelity, especially with conditional inputs. We address these challenges by investigating the primary contributors to error accumulation in DDIM inversion and identify the singularity problem in traditional noise schedules as a key issue. To resolve this, we introduce the Logistic Schedule, a novel noise schedule designed to eliminate singularities, improve inversion stability, and provide a better noise space for image editing. This schedule reduces noise prediction errors, enabling more faithful editing that preserves the original content of the source image. Our approach requires no additional retraining and is compatible with various existing editing methods. In the field of image editing, three core challenges persist: controllability, background preservation, and efficiency. Inversion-based methods rely on time-consuming optimization to preserve the features of the initial images, which results in low efficiency due to the requirement for extensive network inference. Conversely, inversion-free methods lack theoretical support for background similarity, as they circumvent the issue of maintaining initial features to achieve efficiency. As a consequence, none of these methods can achieve both high efficiency and background consistency. To tackle the challenges and the aforementioned disadvantages, we introduce PostEdit, a method that incorporates a posterior scheme to govern the diffusion sampling process. Specifically, a corresponding measurement term related to both the initial features and Langevin dynamics is introduced to optimize the estimated image generated by the given target prompt. Extensive experimental results indicate that the proposed PostEdit achieves state-of-the-art editing performance while accurately preserving unedited regions. Furthermore, the method is both inversion- and training-free, necessitating approximately 1.5 seconds and 18 GB of GPU memory to generate high-quality results., Comment: 30 pages

Sequential Recommender Systems (SRS), which model a user's interaction history to predict the next item of interest, are widely used in various applications. However, existing SRS often struggle with low-popularity items, a challenge known as the long-tail problem. This issue leads to reduced serendipity for users and diminished profits for sellers, ultimately harming the overall system. Large Language Model (LLM) has the ability to capture semantic relationships between items, independent of their popularity, making it a promising solution to this problem. In this paper, we introduce LLMEmb, a novel method leveraging LLM to generate item embeddings that enhance SRS performance. To bridge the gap between general-purpose LLM and the recommendation domain, we propose a Supervised Contrastive Fine-Tuning (SCFT) approach. This approach includes attribute-level data augmentation and a tailored contrastive loss to make LLM more recommendation-friendly. Additionally, we emphasize the importance of integrating collaborative signals into LLM-generated embeddings, for which we propose Recommendation Adaptation Training (RAT). This further refines the embeddings for optimal use in SRS. The LLMEmb-derived embeddings can be seamlessly integrated with any SRS models, underscoring the practical value. Comprehensive experiments conducted on three real-world datasets demonstrate that LLMEmb significantly outperforms existing methods across multiple SRS models. Recent advancements have shown promise in applying traditional Semi-Supervised Learning strategies to the task of Generalized Category Discovery (GCD). Typically, this involves a teacher-student framework in which the teacher imparts knowledge to the student to classify categories, even in the absence of explicit labels. Nevertheless, GCD presents unique challenges, particularly the absence of priors for new classes, which can lead to the teacher's misguidance and unsynchronized learning with the student, culminating in suboptimal outcomes. In our work, we delve into why traditional teacher-student designs falter in open-world generalized category discovery as compared to their success in closed-world semi-supervised learning. We identify inconsistent pattern learning across attention layers as the crux of this issue and introduce FlipClass, a method that dynamically updates the teacher to align with the student's attention, instead of maintaining a static teacher reference. Our teacher-student attention alignment strategy refines the teacher's focus based on student feedback from an energy perspective, promoting consistent pattern recognition and synchronized learning across old and new classes. Automatic and precise medical image segmentation (MIS) is of vital importance for clinical diagnosis and analysis. Current MIS methods mainly rely on the convolutional neural network (CNN) or self-attention mechanism (Transformer) for feature modeling. However, CNN-based methods suffer from the inaccurate localization owing to the limited global dependency while Transformer-based methods always present the coarse boundary for the lack of local emphasis. Although some CNN-Transformer hybrid methods are designed to synthesize the complementary local and global information for better performance, the combination of CNN and Transformer introduces numerous parameters and increases the computation cost. To this end, this paper proposes a CNN-Transformer rectified collaborative learning (CTRCL) framework to learn stronger CNN-based and Transformer-based models for MIS tasks via the bi-directional knowledge transfer between them. Specifically, we propose a rectified logit-wise collaborative learning (RLCL) strategy which introduces the ground truth to adaptively select and rectify the wrong regions in student soft labels for accurate knowledge transfer in the logit space. We also propose a class-aware feature-wise collaborative learning (CFCL) strategy to achieve effective knowledge transfer between CNN-based and Transformer-based models in the feature space by granting their intermediate features the similar capability of category perception. Extensive experiments on three popular MIS benchmarks demonstrate that our CTRCL outperforms most state-of-the-art collaborative learning methods under different evaluation metrics.

In this paper, a novel movable antenna (MA) empowered secure transmission scheme is designed for cell-free symbiotic radio (SR) systems in the presence of an eavesdropper (Eve). Specifically, multiple distributed access points (APs) equipped with MAs collaboratively transmit confidential information to the primary user (PU), in the meanwhile the backscatter device (BD) transmits its own information to the secondary user (SU) by reflecting incident signals from the APs. The MAs deployed at the APs can adjust their positions flexibly to improve channel conditions between the APs and the PU/SU/BD and suppress the eavesdropping from the Eve on confidential information at the PU. Under this setup, we maximize the secrecy rate of primary transmission through jointly optimizing the APs' transmission beamforming vectors and the positions of the MAs, while adhering to the quality of service constraints at the SU. To address the challenges caused by the non-convexity and find a near-optimal solution, an alternating optimization (AO) framework is proposed, utilizing the successive convex approximation method, the semi-definite relaxation technology and a genetic algorithm modified particle swarm optimization (GA-PSO) algorithm. Modern artificial intelligence (AI) systems are powered by foundation models. This paper presents a new set of foundation models, called Llama 3. It is a herd of language models that natively support multilinguality, coding, reasoning, and tool usage. Our largest model is a dense Transformer with 405B parameters and a context window of up to 128K tokens. This paper presents an extensive empirical evaluation of Llama 3. We find that Llama 3 delivers comparable quality to leading language models such as GPT-4 on a plethora of tasks. We publicly release Llama 3, including pre-trained and post-trained versions of the 405B parameter language model and our Llama Guard 3 model for input and output safety. The paper also presents the results of experiments in which we integrate image, video, and speech capabilities into Llama 3 via a compositional approach. We observe this approach performs competitively with the state-of-the-art on image, video, and speech recognition tasks. The resulting models are not yet being broadly released as they are still under development.

Knowledge-based Visual Question Answering (KVQA) requires both image and world knowledge to answer questions. Current methods first retrieve knowledge from the image and external knowledge base with the original complex question, then generate answers with Large Language Models (LLMs). However, since the original question contains complex elements that require knowledge from different sources, acquiring different kinds of knowledge in a coupled manner may confuse models and hinder them from retrieving precise knowledge. Furthermore, the ``forward-only'' answering process fails to explicitly capture the knowledge needs of LLMs, which can further hurt answering quality. To cope with the above limitations, we propose DKA: Disentangled Knowledge Acquisition from LLM feedback, a training-free framework that disentangles knowledge acquisition to avoid confusion and uses LLM's feedback to specify the required knowledge. Specifically, DKA requires LLMs to specify what knowledge they need to answer the question and decompose the original complex question into two simple sub-questions: Image-based sub-question and Knowledge-based sub-question. Then we use the two sub-questions to retrieve knowledge from the image and knowledge base, respectively. In this way, two knowledge acquisition models can focus on the content that corresponds to them and avoid disturbance of irrelevant elements in the original complex question, which can help to provide more precise knowledge and better align the knowledge needs of LLMs to yield correct answers. Diffusion models have marked a significant breakthrough in the synthesis of semantically coherent images. However, their extensive noise estimation networks and the iterative generation process limit their wider application, particularly on resource-constrained platforms like mobile devices. Existing post-training quantization (PTQ) methods have managed to compress diffusion models to low precision. Nevertheless, due to the iterative nature of diffusion models, quantization errors tend to accumulate throughout the generation process. This accumulation of error becomes particularly problematic in low-precision scenarios, leading to significant distortions in the generated images. We attribute this accumulation issue to two main causes: error propagation and exposure bias. To address these problems, we propose a timestep-aware correction method for quantized diffusion model, which dynamically corrects the quantization error. By leveraging the proposed method in low-precision diffusion models, substantial enhancement of output quality could be achieved with only negligible computation overhead. Extensive experiments underscore our method's effectiveness and generalizability. Despite their great success across various multimodal tasks, Large Vision-Language Models (LVLMs) are facing a prevalent problem with object hallucinations, where the generated textual responses are inconsistent with ground-truth objects in the given image. This paper investigates various LVLMs and pinpoints attention deficiency toward discriminative local image features as one root cause of object hallucinations. Specifically, LVLMs predominantly attend to prompt-independent global image features, while failing to capture prompt-relevant local features, consequently undermining the visual grounding capacity of LVLMs and leading to hallucinations. To this end, we propose Assembly of Global and Local Attention (AGLA), a training-free and plug-and-play approach that mitigates object hallucinations by exploring an ensemble of global features for response generation and local features for visual discrimination simultaneously. Our approach exhibits an image-prompt matching scheme that captures prompt-relevant local features from images, leading to an augmented view of the input image where prompt-relevant content is reserved while irrelevant distractions are masked. With the augmented view, a calibrated decoding distribution can be derived by integrating generative global features from the original image and discriminative local features from the augmented image. Extensive experiments show that AGLA consistently mitigates object hallucinations and enhances general perception capability for LVLMs across various discriminative and generative benchmarks. Disordered speech recognition profound implications for improving the quality of life for individuals afflicted with, for example, dysarthria. Dysarthric speech recognition encounters challenges including limited data, substantial dissimilarities between dysarthric and non-dysarthric speakers, and significant speaker variations stemming from the disorder. This paper introduces Perceiver-Prompt, a method for speaker adaptation that utilizes P-Tuning on the Whisper large-scale model. We first fine-tune Whisper using LoRA and then integrate a trainable Perceiver to generate fixed-length speaker prompts from variable-length inputs, to improve model recognition of Chinese dysarthric speech. Experimental results from our Chinese dysarthric speech dataset demonstrate consistent improvements in recognition performance with Perceiver-Prompt. Sequential recommender systems (SRS) aim to predict users' subsequent choices based on their historical interactions and have found applications in diverse fields such as e-commerce and social media. However, in real-world systems, most users interact with only a handful of items, while the majority of items are seldom consumed. These two issues, known as the long-tail user and long-tail item challenges, often pose difficulties for existing SRS. These challenges can adversely affect user experience and seller benefits, making them crucial to address. Though a few works have addressed the challenges, they still struggle with the seesaw or noisy issues due to the intrinsic scarcity of interactions. The advancements in large language models (LLMs) present a promising solution to these problems from a semantic perspective. As one of the pioneers in this field, we propose the Large Language Models Enhancement framework for Sequential Recommendation (LLM-ESR). This framework utilizes semantic embeddings derived from LLMs to enhance SRS without adding extra inference load from LLMs. To address the long-tail item challenge, we design a dual-view modeling framework that combines semantics from LLMs and collaborative signals from conventional SRS. For the long-tail user challenge, we propose a retrieval augmented self-distillation method to enhance user preference representation using more informative interactions from similar users. To verify the effectiveness and versatility of our proposed enhancement framework, we conduct extensive experiments on three real-world datasets using three popular SRS models. The results show that our method surpasses existing baselines consistently, and benefits long-tail users and items especially. In this paper, we propose a movable antenna (MA) empowered scheme for symbiotic radio (SR) communication systems. Specifically, multiple antennas at the primary transmitter (PT) can be flexibly moved to favorable locations to boost the channel conditions of the primary and secondary transmissions. The primary transmission is achieved by the active transmission from the PT to the primary user (PU), while the backscatter device (BD) takes a ride over the incident signal from the PT to passively send the secondary signal to the PU. Under this setup, we consider a primary rate maximization problem by jointly optimizing the transmit beamforming and the positions of MAs at the PT under a practical bit error rate constraint on the secondary transmission. Then, an alternating optimization framework with the utilization of the successive convex approximation, semi-definite processing and simulated annealing (SA) modified particle swarm optimization (SA-PSO) methods is proposed to find the solution of the transmit beamforming and MAs' positions. Wireless powered and backscattering mobile edge computing (WPB-MEC) network is a novel network paradigm to supply energy supplies and computing resource to wireless sensors (WSs). However, its performance is seriously affected by severe attenuations and inappropriate assumptions of infinite computing capability at the hybrid access point (HAP). To address the above issues, in this paper, we propose a simultaneously transmitting and reflecting reconfigurable intelligent surface (STAR-RIS) aided scheme for boosting the performance of WPB-MEC network under the constraint of finite computing capability. Specifically, energy-constrained WSs are able to offload tasks actively or passively from them to the HAP. In this process, the STAR-RIS is utilized to improve the quantity of harvested energy and strengthen the offloading efficiency by adapting its operating protocols. We then maximize the sum computational bits (SCBs) under the finite computing capability constraint. To handle the solving challenges, we first present interesting results in closed-form and then design a block coordinate descent (BCD) based algorithm, ensuring a near-optimal solution. Animating virtual characters has always been a fundamental research problem in virtual reality (VR). Facial animations play a crucial role as they effectively convey emotions and attitudes of virtual humans. However, creating such facial animations can be challenging, as current methods often involve utilization of expensive motion capture devices or significant investments of time and effort from human animators in tuning animation parameters. In this paper, we propose a holistic solution to automatically animate virtual human faces. In our solution, a deep learning model was first trained to retarget the facial expression from input face images to virtual human faces by estimating the blendshape coefficients. This method offers the flexibility of generating animations with characters of different appearances and blendshape topologies. Second, a practical toolkit was developed using Unity 3D, making it compatible with the most popular VR applications. The toolkit accepts both image and video as input to animate the target virtual human faces and enables users to manipulate the animation results. Furthermore, inspired by the spirit of Human-in-the-loop (HITL), we leveraged user feedback to further improve the performance of the model and toolkit, thereby increasing the customization properties to suit user preferences. The recommendation of medication is a vital aspect of intelligent healthcare systems, as it involves prescribing the most suitable drugs based on a patient's specific health needs. Unfortunately, many sophisticated models currently in use tend to overlook the nuanced semantics of medical data, while only relying heavily on identities. Furthermore, these models face significant challenges in handling cases involving patients who are visiting the hospital for the first time, as they lack prior prescription histories to draw upon. To tackle these issues, we harness the powerful semantic comprehension and input-agnostic characteristics of Large Language Models (LLMs). Our research aims to transform existing medication recommendation methodologies using LLMs. In this paper, we introduce a novel approach called Large Language Model Distilling Medication Recommendation (LEADER). We begin by creating appropriate prompt templates that enable LLMs to suggest medications effectively. However, the straightforward integration of LLMs into recommender systems leads to an out-of-corpus issue specific to drugs. We handle it by adapting the LLMs with a novel output layer and a refined tuning loss function. Although LLM-based models exhibit remarkable capabilities, they are plagued by high computational costs during inference, which is impractical for the healthcare sector. To mitigate this, we have developed a feature-level knowledge distillation technique, which transfers the LLM's proficiency to a more compact model. Extensive experiments conducted on two real-world datasets, MIMIC-III and MIMIC-IV, demonstrate that our proposed model not only delivers effective results but also is efficient. To ease the reproducibility of our experiments, we release the implementation code online.

Reconfigurable memristors featuring neural and synaptic functions hold great potential for neuromorphic circuits by simplifying system architecture, cutting power consumption, and boosting computational efficiency. Their additive manufacturing on sustainable substrates offers unique advantages for future electronics, including low environmental impact. Here, exploiting structure-property relationship of MoS2 nanoflake-based resistive layer, we present paper-based, inkjet-printed, reconfigurable memristors. With >90% yield from a 16x65 device array, our memristors demonstrate robust resistive switching, with $>10^5$ ON-OFF ratio and <0.5 V operation in non-volatile state. Through modulation of compliance current, the devices transition into volatile state, with only 50 pW switching power consumption, rivalling state-of-the-art metal oxide-based counterparts. We show device recyclability and stable, reconfigurable operation following disassembly, material collection and re-fabrication. We further demonstrate synaptic plasticity and neuronal leaky integrate-and-fire functionality, with disposable applications in smart packaging and simulated medical image diagnostics. Generalized Category Discovery is a crucial real-world task. Despite the improved performance on known categories, current methods perform poorly on novel categories. We attribute the poor performance to two reasons: biased knowledge transfer between labeled and unlabeled data and noisy representation learning on the unlabeled data. To mitigate these two issues, we propose a Transfer and Alignment Network (TAN), which incorporates two knowledge transfer mechanisms to calibrate the biased knowledge and two feature alignment mechanisms to learn discriminative features. Specifically, we model different categories with prototypes and transfer the prototypes in labeled data to correct model bias towards known categories. On the one hand, we pull instances with known categories in unlabeled data closer to these prototypes to form more compact clusters and avoid boundary overlap between known and novel categories. On the other hand, we use these prototypes to calibrate noisy prototypes estimated from unlabeled data based on category similarities, which allows for more accurate estimation of prototypes for novel categories that can be used as reliable learning targets later. After knowledge transfer, we further propose two feature alignment mechanisms to acquire both instance- and category-level knowledge from unlabeled data by aligning instance features with both augmented features and the calibrated prototypes, which can boost model performance on both known and novel categories with less noise. Experiments on three benchmark datasets show that our model outperforms SOTA methods, especially on novel categories. Generalized Category Discovery (GCD) is a crucial task that aims to recognize both known and novel categories from a set of unlabeled data by utilizing a few labeled data with only known categories. Due to the lack of supervision and category information, current methods usually perform poorly on novel categories and struggle to reveal semantic meanings of the discovered clusters, which limits their applications in the real world. To mitigate the above issues, we propose Loop, an end-to-end active-learning framework that introduces Large Language Models (LLMs) into the training loop, which can boost model performance and generate category names without relying on any human efforts. Specifically, we first propose Local Inconsistent Sampling (LIS) to select samples that have a higher probability of falling to wrong clusters, based on neighborhood prediction consistency and entropy of cluster assignment probabilities. Then we propose a Scalable Query strategy to allow LLMs to choose true neighbors of the selected samples from multiple candidate samples. Based on the feedback from LLMs, we perform Refined Neighborhood Contrastive Learning (RNCL) to pull samples and their neighbors closer to learn clustering-friendly representations. Finally, we select representative samples from clusters corresponding to novel categories to allow LLMs to generate category names for them. Extensive experiments on three benchmark datasets show that Loop outperforms SOTA models by a large margin and generates accurate category names for the discovered clusters.
