Abstract

International audience; We hypothesize that traces of thematic activities present in the scientific productions of a company (the case of TotalEnergies) are useful for the social development of a company in full mutation. We present a new approach allowing us to identify these traces by using a cartography that shows the organization of the company, and by conducting interviews with the researchers and the communicators. This will then allow us to build a first ontology skeleton as recommended by the SAMOD methodology. Finally, we will detect and analyze traces in the scientific documentary corpus.; Nous faisons l'hypothèse que des traces d'activités thématiques présentes dans les productions scientifiques d'une entreprise (le cas de TotalEnergies) sont utiles à des fins de développement social d'une entreprise en pleine mutation. Nous présentons une nouvelle approche permettant d'identifier ces traces par l'exploitation d'une cartographie qui fait état de l'organisation de l'entreprise, la mise en oeuvre d'entretiens avec les chercheurs et les communicants. Cela nous permettra ensuite de construire un premier squelette d'ontologie comme le préconise la méthodologie SAMOD. Enfin, nous détecterons et analyserons des traces dans les corpus documentaires scientifiques.

Abstract

Abstract γ-Al2O3 is promising for catalytic ozonation because it produces HO° radicals. To improve its basicity and/or its oxidative character, highly mesoporous γ-Al2O3 was doped with different metals M alone or in mixture (M = Mg, Ca, Zn, Fe, Ba, Zr, Cu, Co, Ni, Ce, Ti, with 0.05 < M/Al < 0.5 molar ratio) prepared either by incipient wetness deposition or by direct sol-gel. Tests to determine the basic and oxidative character of the catalysts have been set up. Results show that Mg-doped alumina materials exhibited the highest basicity and Cu,Mg-doped alumina materials the highest oxidative character. These materials (5 g/L) were tested in the catalytic ozonation of a synthetic saline (NaCl = 50 g/L) petroleum effluent such as produced water (TOC = 216 mg/L) containing phenols, acetic acid and polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons. Among these catalysts, Mg-doped alumina with molar ratio Mg/Al = 0.1, 0.2 prepared by incipient wetness deposition were the more efficient catalysts. Under reuse the Mg-doped alumina catalyst (Mg/Al = 0.1) exhibited the highest ozonation rate with 98% TOC removal in 5 h. This remarkable behavior was attributed to the in-situ formation during ozonation of spinel (MgAl2O4) nanoparticles at the surface of Mg-doped alumina particles.

Abstract

International audience; Understanding confined flows of complex fluids requires simultaneous access to the mechanical behaviour of the liquid and the boundary condition at the interfaces. Here, we use evanescent wave microscopy to investigate near-surface flows of semi-dilute, unentangled polyacrylamide solutions. By using both neutral and anionic polymers, we show that monomer charge plays a key role in confined polymer dynamics. For solutions in contact with glass, the neutral polymers display chain-sized adsorbed layers, while a shear-rate-dependent apparent slip length is observed for anionic polymer solutions. The slip lengths measured at all concentrations collapse onto a master curve when scaled using a simple two-layer depletion model with non-Newtonian viscosity. A transition from an apparent slip boundary condition to a chain-sized adsorption layer is moreover highlighted by screening the charge with additional salt in the anionic polymer solutions. We anticipate that our study will be a starting point for more complex studies relating the polymer dynamics at interfaces to their chemical and physical composition.

Abstract

International audience; Experimental studies and numerical modeling were conducted to assess the feasibility of a granular activated carbon column to buffer load variations of contaminants before wastewater treatment devices. Studies of cycles of adsorption, and more especially desorption, of methyldiethanolamine (MDEA) and 2,4-dimethylphenol (2,4-DMP) have been carried out on granular activated carbon (GAC). Dynamic variations of contaminants concentrations were run at several conditions of duration (peaks). GAC fixed-bed exhibited a stable adsorption/desorption capacity after undergoing two conditioning cycles. The study of pollution peaks revealed that attenuation is largely dependent on the targeted pollutant: 2.4 ± 0.5 % attenuation/cm of bed for MDEA and 6.0 ± 1.2 % attenuation/cm of bed for 2,4-DMP. Mass balances calculated from both injected and recovered pollutant during peaks were respected. Finally, a coupling of the linear driving force model and isotherms models was used to fit experimental data for both adsorption breakthrough curves and desorption curves. The model was used to predict adsorption and desorption behaviors of following cycles. Good agreement with experimental values was obtained.

Abstract

International audience; To better understand the water-in-oil (w/o) emulsion stability problem, the interfacial material (IM) of four different crude oils was isolated using the wet silica method and analyzed by different techniques. In part 1 (10.1021/acs.energyfuels.6b02899), we used gel permeation chromatog. to analyze the mol. size distribution of S-, Ni-, and V-contg. compds. Here, we report the use of dilatational and shear interfacial rheol. to analyze the interfacial properties of the IM films. In the second part of this series of papers, it is shown that the wet silica isolation method is reproducible and concs. the most surface-active mols. present in crude oils. Shear interfacial rheol. results showed perfect correlation to emulsion stability; stronger mech. properties lead to more stable w/o emulsions. Dilatational rheol. revealed that successive IM exts. from a crude oil are composed of mols. that behave increasingly like insol. surfactants that aggregate at the w/o interface. Lastly, shear rheol. expts. with dild. IM and dild. crude oil showed some differences that were ascribed to a different partitioning between the bulk and interface.

Abstract

International audience; Industrial activities generate a large variety of contaminated effluents which require an appropriate treatment before being released into the environment. Due to the unsteady-state nature of industrial processes, variations of effluents charge with time (flow and/or concentrations) are very often encountered. Generally, they negatively impact running forthcoming treatments, with risks of leading to non-respect of discharge norms. In order to avoid this, buffering of wastewater treatment is generally achieved by equalization basins. Although they assure the regulation of effluent fluctuations, their setting-up exhibits major disadvantages (occupation, odor, cost…). In this context, an alternative solution could be to set up a column of adsorbent, prior to treatment as a buffer/equalizer unit. This buffering strategy, first proposed by Ottengraf (1986), is based on the reversible feature of adsorption.

Abstract

International audience; A method was developed to analyze neutral lipids through the use of three triglycerides, four free fatty acids, six di- and four mono-glycerides standards by high performance liquid chromatography (HPLC) normal phase coupled with either with evaporative light scattering detector (ELSD) or with mass spectrometry (MS) operating in atmospheric pressure chemical ionization (APCI) mode. The method was applied to the determination of the neutral lipid fraction from a Botryococcus braunii race A (B. braunii) culture. This method led us to identify neutral lipids synthesized by B. braunii in a single analysis within 45min through HPLC-APCI-MS/MS technique.
