This study aims to analyze the linear size of the bodies of participated cow used in the progeny test of dairy cows in KAN Jabung, Malang, East Java. The material used consisted of 180 lactating cows emplyed as participated cows. The research employed was a survey with data collection throught purposive sampling, selecting cows that are lactating based on specific criteria. The data were analyzed using correlation analysis and simple linear regression. The results of the study, revealed correlation values between body weight, chest circumference, body length, height with body condition score (BCS), as follows: 0,3542; 0,3523; 0,1926; 0,3198 respectively. Meanwhile, the correlation values of chest circumference, body length, and height with body were found to be: 0,9990; 0,5381; 0,4528, respectively. In conclusion, this study determined that the highest correlation of participated cow linear body size was observed in the relationship between chest circumference and body weight, while the lowest correlation was found in the relationship between body length and BCS.

Kegiatan pengabdian masyarakat ini dilakukan di Pesantren Al Fatih di Desa Klampar Kecamatan Proppo, Kabupaten Pamekasan Madura. Tujuan kegiatan pengabdian kepada masyarakat ini adalah untuk meningkatkan kualitas pengelolaan usaha peternakan sapi pedaging, dan untuk meningkatkan peran dan fungsi pondok pesantren sebagai pendidikan non formal guna mendukung ketahanan pangan serta penguatan penerapan biosecurity dalam upaya pencegahan PMK. Metode yang digunakan dalam kegiatan ini melalui observasi lokasi, diskusi dan wawancara, Participatory Rural, Participatory Technology Development, Educative, Forum Group Discussion (FGD). Hasil kegiatan menunjukkan bahwa peserta sangat antusias saat pelaksanaan. Edukasi yang diberikan pada peserta memberikan peningkatan pengetahuan tentang biosecurity yang signifikan, dari nilai pre-test 68.86 point, sedangkan nilai post-test 78.16 point, sehingga terjadi peningkatan 14%. Pengetahuan yang diaedukasikan meliputi; biosecurity PMK, sanitasi kandang, biosecurity keluar masuk wilayah farm/peternakan dan isolasi sapi yang sakit. Kesimpulan dalam kaegiatan ini adalah, peserta mampu memahami tentang materi peningkatan kualitas ternak melalui biosafety dan biosecurity PMK dan menerapkan teknologi tepat guna tentang formulasi pakan, dan sanitasi kandang untuk pencegahan dan reinfeksi PMK.

This study aimed to detect genetic diversity associated with litter size traits of the P21-activated kinases (PAK1) gene in Senduro and Boerawa goats using the PCR-RFLP method. The restriction enzyme used is MSP1 (C*CGG). A pair of primers used in this study, namely Forward ((5'-GCTCAGTGTTGTATTAGCAG-3') and Reverse (5'- CAAGATATAAAGCACAGCCG-3') product length 713 bp (access code ENSCHIG00000003071). The samples used in this study consisted of 80 samples of Senduro goats and 20 samples of Boerawa goats from UPT PT-HMT Singosari, Malang Regency. The results showed that the PAK1 exon 9 gene in Senduro goats and Boerawa goats UPT PT-HMT Singosari was uniform (monomorphic), it was because all samples had GG genotype and G allele frequency of 100%. In conclusion, the PAK1 exon 9 / MSP1 gene is monomorphic and does not associate with litter size in Senduro goats and Boerawa goats, so it cannot be used as a genetic marker.

ABSTRACT. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui hubungan antara ukuran tubuh linier dengan bobot badan domba Texel dan Awassi. Materi penelitian adalah 35 ekor domba yang terdiri dari 20 ekor domba Texel betina umur 1-1,5 tahun dan 15 ekor domba Awassi betina umur 2 tahun. Metode yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah observasi dengan melakukan pengukuran ukuran linear tubuh dan penimbangan bobot badan. Pengambilan sampel dilakukan secara purposive sampling. Variabel yang diamati dalam penelitian ini adalah lingkar dada (LD), panjang badan (PB), tinggi pundak (TP), dan bobot badan (BB). Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa ada hubungan yang sangat signifikan antara LD dan PB dengan BB pada domba Texel (P0,01). Sementara itu, TP memiliki hubungan yang signifikan dengan BB pada domba Texel (P0,05). Nilai korelasi dari yang tertinggi sampai yang terendah yaitu 0,82; 0,64; 0,48. Pada domba Awassi terdapat hubungan yang sangat signifikan antara LD dan TP dengan BB domba Awassi (P0,01). Sedangkan PB memiliki hubungan yang signifikan dengan BB domba Awassi (P0,05). Nilai korelasi dari yang tertinggi sampai yang terendah yaitu 0,89; 0,63; 0.73. Kesimpulan dalam penelitian ini adalah bahwa ukuran linear tubuh pada domba Texel dan Awassi seperti LD, PB, dan TP memiliki hubungan positif dengan BB. The aim of this research was to find the relationship between linear body measurements and body weight of Texel and Awassi sheep. The research material was 35 sheep consisting of 20 female Texel sheep aged 1-1,5 years and 15 female Awassi sheep aged 2 years. The method used in this research is observation by measuring body linear size and weighing body weight. Sampling was done by purposive sampling. The variables observed in this study were chest girth (CG), body length (BL), shoulder height (TP), and body weight (BW).The results showed that the very significant relationship between CG and BL with BW in Texel ewes (P0.01). Meanwhile, BH had a significant relationship with BW in Texel ewes (P0,05). The correlation values from the highest to the lowest, which is 0,82; 0,64; 0,48. In Awassi sheep there is a very significant relationship between CG and TP with BW Awassi ewes (P0,01). Meanwhile, TP had a significant relationship with the BW of Awassi ewes (P0.05). The correlation value from the highest to the lowest, which is 0.89; 0.63; 0.73. The conclusion in this study is that linear body measurements in Texel and Awassi ewes have a positive relationship with body weight.

Morphometric characterization is the basis of conservation strategies, performance improvement, breeding, and sustainable utilization plan. The purpose of this research was to determine the morphometrics of the Kacang Goats at the fishpond area in Sidoarjo Regency based on different ages and sex. The fishpond area in Sidoarjo is a closed area where goats are raised and have the potential for inbreeding with the consequence of smaller-sized offspring than normal. Morphometric measurements included the head, ears, neck, body, legs, tail, and horns. This research used a descriptive analysis approach, presenting data in form of mean, standard deviation, and coefficient of variation. The result showed that the average face length of male vs. female Kacang goats was 16.73 ± 2.40 cm vs. 19.68 ± 2.44 cm; with a face width of 11.25 ± 2.91 cm vs. 19.52 ± 3.18 cm; ear length of 14.62 ± 1.38 cm vs. 16.46 ± 1.47 cm; neck length of 15.53 ± 2.65 cm vs. 15.35 ± 2.14 cm; horn length of 7.41 ± 4.10 cm vs. 6.59 ± 2.89 cm; chest circumference of 59.33 ± 8.18 cm vs. 67.80 ± 6.32 cm; body length of 51.45 ± 6.70 cm vs. 56.91 ± 6.54 cm; body height of 54.41 ± 7.22 cm vs. 62.01 ± 5.53 cm; tail length of 13.21 ± 2.01 cm vs. 14.77 ± 3.37 cm; hind leg length of 39.20 ± 5.26 cm vs. 47.74 ± 5.47 cm; and front leg length of 37.00 ± 8.84 cm vs. 44.63 ± 8.65 cm. This research concludes that Kacang Goats in Sidoarjo has characteristics according to SNI standard, and the morphometric size was larger in female than male goats.

ABSTRACT. Galur kambing Senduro ditetapkan melalui Keputusan Menteri Pertanian Republik Indonesia Nomor 1055/Kpts/SR.120/10/2014. Kambing Senduro sebagai kekayaan sumber daya genetik ternak lokal Indonesia memiliki fenotip yang dapat diukur berdasarkan sifat kuantitatifnya. Penelitian pertama bertujuan untuk mengkaji fenotip kambing Senduro betina berdasarkan pada tinggi pundak, panjang badan, lingkar dada, bobot badan, dan panjang telinga. Penelitian kedua bertujuan menghubungkan sifat kuantitatif dengan umur ternak. Penelitian pertama menggunakan metode observasi, sedangkan penelitian kedua menggunakan metode korelasi. Data penelitian ditabulasi dan dianalisis secara deskriptif kuantitatif dan analisis korelasi dengan menggunakan Microsoft Excel 2010 dan SPSS 26.0. Pengamatan dilakukan pada 102 ekor kambing Senduro betina. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa kambing Senduro betina memiliki tinggi pundak 70-80 cm (55,88%), panjang badan 70-80 cm (53,92%), lingkar dada 80-90 cm (59,80%), bobot badan 50-60 kg (32,35%), dan panjang telinga 30-40 cm (69,61%). Panjang badan, lingkar dada, dan bobot badan memiliki korelasi positif yang sangat kuat dengan umur ternak. Penelitian ini merekomendasikan bahwa perlu adanya upaya pembaharuan data dan informasi terkait fenotip kambing Senduro yang berkaitan dengan sifat kuantitatif ternak yang mengacu pada Keputusan Menteri Pertanian Republik Indonesia Nomor 1055/Kpts/SR.120/10/2014. (Phenotype study of Senduro goats as wealth of Indonesian local livestock genetic resources) ABSTRAK. The Senduro goat breed was determined through the Decree of the Minister of Agriculture of the Republic of Indonesia Number 1055/Kpts/SR.120/10/2014. The Senduro goat as a wealth of genetic resources for local Indonesian livestock has a phenotype that can be measured based on its quantitative characteristics. The first study aimed to examine the phenotype of female Senduro goats based on shoulder height, body length, chest circumference, body weight, and ear length. The second study aimed to evaluate quantitative characteristics with the age of Senduro goat. The first research uses the observation method, while the second research uses the correlation method. Observations were made on 102 female Senduro goats. The results showed that female Senduro goats had a shoulder height of 70-80 cm (55.88%), body length 70-80 cm (53.92%), chest circumference 80-90 cm (59.80%), body weight 50 -60 kg (32.35%), and ear length 30-40 cm (69.61%). Body length, chest circumference, and body weight have a very strong positive correlation with the age of Senduro goat. This study recommends that efforts to update data and information related to the phenotype of the Senduro goat related to the quantitative characteristics of Senduro goat are needed which refers to the Decree of the Minister of Agriculture of the Republic of Indonesia Number 1055/Kpts/SR.120/10/2014.

This study aimed to investigated the morphometric characteristics of Pote goats, a local Indonesian goat breed found in Bangkalan Regency, East Java Province. A total of 139 respondents participated in the study, providing 622 female and male Pote goats aged over three months as research materials. This study employed a descriptive research method, including surveys and interviews, to retrieve data using purposive sampling technique. Quantitative data, such as body weight and body size, were analyzed descriptively using the average and standard deviation. Qualitative data, including body color, facial shape/profile, horns, beard, papillae, rewos fur, and udder shape, were analyzed using phenotypic frequency. The findings of this study revealed that Pote goats in Bangkalan are a small type of local Indonesian goat based on the body weight of an adult female and a large type based on shoulder height. Body weight and body size were found to increase with age. Furthermore, the dominant qualitative characteristics of Pote goats in Bangkalan include white color on the body, convex facial profile, drooping and widened ears with relatively short size, straight right and left horns, mane ruff, no papillae, and jug-shaped udder.

The purpose of this study was to determine and evaluate the use of date seed flour in feed on the small intestine characteristics of broilers. This study used 200 Day Old Chick (DOC) broilers with type MB 202. This study used a field experiment method with a Completely Randomized Design (CRD) consisting of 5 treatments and 4 replications. The treatments used were P0: basal feed without the use of date seed flour (DSF), P1: basal feed using 2.5% DSF, P2: basal feed using 5% DSF, P3: basal feed using 7.5% DSF, P4: basal feed using 10% DSF. The variables measured in this study were the number of villi, villi height, villi surface area, crypt depth, digesta pH, and digesta viscosity. The objective of this study was to determine the reproductive performance of Kacang goats in a closed population area of Oro-Oro Farm located in Sawohan Village, Buduran Subdistrict, Sidoarjo Regency. We used 146 Kacang goat with a range of parity from 1 to > 7. Data analysis was carried out using the ANOVA test, Least Significant Difference (LSD) test, coefficient of variation test and descriptive test to measure litter size, pre-weaning mortality, kidding interval (KI), days open (DO) and Kacang goat reproduction index. The results showed that the highest litter size was 1.69 ± 0.63 at parity 6, the lowest pre-weaning mortality at parity > 7 was 11.76%, the shortest kidding interval and days open was at parity 4 for 7.35 ± 1.22 and 2.35 ± 1.22 months, respectively. The best Kacang goat reproduction index was 2.22 at parity 6 with coefficient of variation of 38.06%, 41.08% and 13.36% for litter size (LS), days open (DO), kidding interval (KI). Conclusively, there was a diverse reproductive performance of Kacang goats in the closed population area of Oro-Oro Farm located in Sawohan Village, Buduran Subdistrict, Sidoarjo Regency based on parity 1 to > 7, in which the higher the parity, the higher the reproductive performance. However, parity 5 onwards saw a declining reproductive performance due to weakened livestock conditions.

This investigation aimed to identify the production and composition of crops as feed, classify the types of integrated farming in different locations, and compare dairy goats based on their morphometric characteristics. The data used were collected from July to November, 2021 in the Malang, Lumajang, and Bangkalan regencies of Indonesia, via a survey and direct observations. Descriptive, multivariate, and variance analyses were adopted using RStudio to analyze the collected data. In Malang and Lumajang, farmers adopted agroforestry, alley cropping, and cover crops as the main types of integrated farming. The integrated farming adopted by the farmers in Malang, Bangkalan, and Lumajang helped to explain the differences in forage crops. Calliandra calothyrsus, Indigofera zollingeriana, and Thitonia diversifolia are non-grasses having high levels of average production. In Lumajang, farmers provided only a few combinations with Calliandra which was the most intensively grown crop. In Malang, six crops were combined for the dairy goat feed. Pennisetum purpureum was the crop most intensely grown to feed the PE (Etawa crossbred). In Bangkalan, Pote-Arosbaya goats were fed a combination of eight crops. Moringa oleifera, Bambusa sp., Artocarpus heterophyllus, and natural grasses were the most popular feed crops. In Malang and Lumajang, the PE Singosari and Senduro goats had a high degree of similarity based on their morphometric characteristics, respectively.

GDFP is a standard guideline for producing good milk quality and efficient production system. GDFP implementation has been less attention among the dairy smallholder farmers. The smallholder farmers are classified into three categories depending on animal ownership; strata 1 (1-3 AU), strata 2 (4-6 AU), and strata 3 (>7 AU). This research determines the score of GDFP implementation on smallholder farmers in East Java. The total respondents were 56, with 325 dairy cattle. A questionnaire and field observations were used to collect data using the survey method. The farmers were interviewed using a prepared questionnaire with general information about their farms and questions about GDFP implementation. The result showed that the score of GDFP implementation in all strata of smallholder farmers in East Java Indonesia in 6 aspects as follows: animal health was “good enough†(score 2.68-2.70), milking hygiene was “good†(score 3.19-3.42), nutrition was “good enough†(score 2.86-2.97) in strata I and III and “good†for strata II (score 3.03), animal welfare was “good enough†(2.56-2.60), the environment was "good enough" (2.34-2.50) and socio-economic management is “not good†(score GDFP = 1.60-1.92).

Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui interaksi antara bentuk ambing dan paritas terhadap produksi susu pada kambing Senduro. Materi yang digunakan adalah 69 ekor induk kambing Senduro yang sedang laktasi pada paritas 1 – 4. Metode penelitian adalah metode observasional dan penentuan sampel dilakukan secara purposive sampling. Variabel penelitian adalah bentuk ambing, paritas, dan produksi susu. Produksi susu diperoleh dengan cara mengukur volume susu dari tiap ternak pada pagi hari. Analisi data menggunakan uji T-test tidak berpasangan untuk bentuk ambing terhadap produksi susu, sedangkan untuk mengetahui korelasi antara paritas dengan produksi susu menggunakan analisis regresi korelasi linear sederhana. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa terdapat dua bentuk ambing pada kambing Senduro, yaitu ambing berbentuk botol sebanyak 56 ekor dan ambing berbentuk kendi sebanyak 13 ekor. Hasil uji T-test tidak berpasangan menunjukkan bahwa bentuk ambing tidak berpengaruh nyata terhadap produksi susu. Hasil uji regresi korelasi linier sederhana menunjukkan bahwa paritas dan produksi susu memiliki korelasi yang sedang. Kesimpulan dari penelitian ini adalah bahwa tidak ada interaksi antara bentuk ambing dengan produksi susu. Korelasi antara paritas dengan produksi susu adalah semakin bertambah paritas maka semakin tinggi produksi susu yang dihasilkan.

A total of 106 late gestation goats (age 4-5 months of pregnancy) records each of Etawah Crosbred goats kept on small farmer over a period of 10 years were assessed to determine the effects of environmental factors on them. Body Condition Score is non-genetic factor and in dairy goats to predicted milk production, fertility, and general health of the animal because BCS is visualisasi from feeding manajement. The objective of this study was to investigated the relationship between Body Condition Score (BCS) of late gestation with litter size and birth weight on etawah crossbred goats. The results showed that the average of litter size and birth weight (kg) were 1.89±0.66 and 3.84±0.73 respectively. The relationship between BCS with litter size were 0.13 (very low) and the relationship between BCS with birth weight were 0.11 (very low). The conclusion of this research is BCS of late gestation had positive correlation on litter size and birth weight, however this was low and birth weight as first indicator of future growth rate.

Although Etawah Crossbred (PE) goat is considered to be dual purpose (meat and milk) goat, it is mainly raised for meat production. Since early 1990, there has been a growing interest of the farmer in some places to raise PE goat for milk production without sacrificing its role to produce kids for meat. Although milk yield of PE goat was not as high as milk yield of some other dairy goats, the ability of PE goat to cope with harsh local environment, particularly climate and feed conditions, was an advantage. Therefore, raising PE goat would still be an important part of farmer activities in the rural areas in Indonesia. Identification of the genes underlying livestock production traits leads to more efficient breeding programs and it is a promising way to improve production traits of farm animals. Growth hormone is a polypeptide hormone which is the major regulator of the metabolic procedures of growth and development and it is encoded by GH gene. The objective of this study was to detect the genetic polymorphism of GH gene in major Etawah Crossbred (PE) goat using PCR-RFLP. The PCR amplified fragment were digested with HaeIII endonuclease and the result showed the presence of two genotype CC and CD. The total frequency were 47.0% and 53.0% for CC and CD genotype respectively in 94 tested goats. The objective of this activity was to produce fermented milk products, such as yogurt ice candy, yogurt drink, kefir drink, kefir mask and kefir toner that was free of preservatives and has been done research and ready to sell to various consumer: direct consumers, through cooperatives in campus environment and through electronic media. The production of Probiotics was conducted in Processing Technology Laboratory using batch pasteurizer, and incubator to produce quality yoghurt and kefir. The fermented milk products were packed in packs: yogurt ice candy (40 mL) yogurt drink (125 mL), kefir drink (125 mL), kefir mask (100 g) and kefir (100 mL) toner at consumer prices compared to brands other. The objective of this study is to determine the protein profile of pre-weaning kids fed with cow's milk as a substitute for dam’s milk. The materials used were 18 Etawah Descendant (PE) kids born the twin at the age of 5-13 days from 3-4-year-old dams. This experimental design was a completely randomized design with three treatments with six replications per treatment, namely the control (T0) fed 100% goat’s milk, treatment 1 (T1) fed 50% goat’s milk and 50% cow’s milk, treatment 2 (T2) fed 100% cow’s milk. The protein profile serum was analyzed by sodium dodecyl sulfate polyacrylamide gel electrophoresis (SDS-PAGE) method, 12,5% of the resolving gel and 3% of the stacking gel were used. The protein profile of the 5-14 days old PE kids were 19 protein bands with the molecular weight ranging from 15-160 kDa. The kids fed with 100% goat milk (T0) and those substituted by 50% cow's milk (T1), it was produced 19 protein bands with molecular weights ranging from 15 kDa to 155 kDa, while those fed with 100 % cow's milk (T2), it was produced 17 protein bands with molecular weights ranging from 13 kDa to 160 kDa. It can be concluded that the dam's milk substitute using cow's milk at the 50% level does not affect the blood protein profile of goat kids, while the 100% substitute produces the different number and types of protein

Kulit apel manalagi (Malus sylvestris Mill.) mengandung banyak zat aktif yang dapat berfungsi sebagai antibakteri. Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui kemampuan dari dekok kulit apel manalagi (Malus sylvestris Mill.) dalam menghambat pertumbuhan bakteri Escherichia coli dan Streptococcus agalactiae penyebab mastitis pada sapi perah dan menentukan konsentrasi optimal dalam menghambat pertumbuhan bakteri tersebut. Metode yang digunakan yaitu metode difusi sumuran dengan 4 perlakuan dan 5 ulangan. Perlakuan tersebut terdiri dari konsentrasi 10%, 20%, 30% dan iodips sebagai perlakuan standart. Hasil penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa dekok kulit apel manalagi (Malus sylvestris Mill.) dengan konsentrasi 10%, 20% dan 30% mampu menghambat pertumbuhan bakteri, dimana perlakuan yang paling baik yaitu pada konsentrasi 30%. Hasil perhitungan rata-rata luas zona hambat dekok kulit apel manalagi (Malus sylvestris Mill.) dalam menghambat pertumbuhan bakteri Escherichia coli adalah berbeda sangat nyata (P0,05). Kesimpulan dari hasil penelitian ini adalah konsentrasi 10%, 20% dan 30% dapat menghambat pertumbuhan bakteri Escherichia coli dan Streptococcus agalactiae. Konsentrasi 10%, 20% dan 30% belum dapat mengimbangi kekuatan daya hambat dari iodips dalam menghambat pertumbuhan bakteri Escherichia coli, akan tetapi pada bakteri Streptococcus agalactiae mampu untuk menghambat pertumbuhannya. Apel Manalagi (Malus sylvestris Mill.) sering dikonsumsi baik secara segar maupun diolah menjadi keripik apel. Pengolahan ini menghasilkan limbah berupa kulit. Kandungan kulit apel Manalagi berupa saponin, flavonoid, tannin, polifenol dan katekin yang dapat berperan sebagai antibakteri, kandungan ini dapat dimanfaatkan sebagai pengganti larutan teat dipping iodip untuk menghambat pertumbuhan bakteri Staphylococcus aureus dan Escherichia coli penyebab mastitis pada sapi perah. Tujuan penelitian ini untuk menentukan apakah jus kulit apel Manalagi dapat menghambat pertumbuhan Staphylococcus aureus dan Escherichia coli penyebab mastitis pada sapi perah serta untuk mengetahui konsentrasi yang lebih baik untuk menghambat pertumbuhan bakteri Staphylococcusaureus dan Escerichia coli. Research with aim to estimate genetic polymorphism at ACACA (Acetyl-coenzyme A carboxylase ) locus in Ettawa Crossbred goat wan its relationship with production traits was done at goat population in Batu, Lawang and Ampel Gading. 46 female goats were taken it’s blood sample to isolate the DNA and continue with PCR (Polymerase Chain Reaction) and RFLP (Restricted Fragment Length Polymorphism). PCR was used to amplify ACACA gene fragment in intron 3’ about 200 bp with primer F : 5’ – AGT GTA GAA GGG ACA GCC CAG C – 3’ and R : 5’ – GTG GAA TGA CAC ATG GAG AGG G – 3’; RFLP was used to test mutation of that fragment in particular place (point) using restriction enzyme RSA1. Variables were alelles and genotypes composition in population, milk and fat content, and birth weight of kid. Result showed that (a) genetic polymorphism at locus ACACA in three location was high that is 44,22 %, with allele frequency of G (p) = 33 % and allele T (q) = 67 %; (b) no relationship between the high polymorphism with productive performance of goat in fat and protein content, and birth weight of kid. It was concluded that in goat population there was a high polymorphism at ACACA gene, and that polymorphism was not related to production.
