Wild palms provide high-value resources and contribute to generating income for rural people. This study documents the usage patterns and conservation practices of wild palms in Western Burkina Faso. An ethnobotanical survey was conducted with 258 participants across five different communities. The participants cited seven palm species. The number of palm species cited per participant varied according to their ethnic group, gender, and age category. Elaeis guineensis and Borassus akeassii were the most cited and useful species. The influence of ethnic group, gender, and age on use values depended on the specific palm species among the communities. Local people adopted natural assisted regeneration (watering, protecting, and taking care of seedlings that germinate naturally) and cultivation to conserve Borassus akeassii and Elaeis guineensis. Local conservation practices and sustainable exploitation of wild palms are needed for their successful and effective conservation in the semi-arid climatic context of Burkina Faso. The indigenous peoples of Mexico have claimed their rights in the last thirty years, one of them, the right to self-determination that refers to governing themselves under their own social institutions, principles, values and forms according to their cultural heritage. The intention is to address how the movement for the recognition of rights is transferred to the scope of a policy by the State in Michoacán and the implications that entails. Whether government intervention in the construction of the legal framework that regulates the processes of self-government and direct budgeting is an advantage or disadvantage for indigenous communities. It enumerates grasses dwelled in the garden premises along with correct nomenclature and synonyms available if any including Apluda mutica, Arundo donax L., and Axonopus compressus.

Aloe vera is a natural product that is now a day frequently used in the field of cosmetology. Though there are various indications for its use, controlled trials are needed to determine its real efficacy. The Aloe vera plant has been known and used for centuries for its health, beauty, medicinal and skin care properties. The name Aloe vera derives from the Arabic word "Alloeh" meaning "shining bitter substance," while "vera" in Latin means "true." 2000 years ago, the Greek scientists regarded Aloe vera as the universal panacea. The Egyptians called Aloe" the plant of immortality."Today, the Aloe vera plant has been used for various purposes in dermatology. Aloe vera is gel from the leaves of aloe plants. People have used it for thousands of years for healing and softening the skin. Aloe has also long been a folk treatment for many maladies, including constipation and skin disorders. Internet access and social media are available on the new palm-top which is a smartphone and can be taken anywhere. This mobility has raised questions in context of the smartphone dependency for various uses and gratifications. The time spent on smartphones is the simplistic explanation for smartphone dependency. The diverse uses and gratifications demand more interpretations for smartphone dependency contextualizing uses and gratifications. The current study fills the gap by conceptualizing the low, moderate, and high levels of smartphone dependency based on uses and gratifications. For this, a survey is conducted of university students by using a purposive sampling technique. The data is analyzed by using SPSS version 25. The mean values are compared and it is found that the high dependency on the smartphone is for business, communication, educational, and social interaction-related gratifications. In Argentina, a nation committed to prioritizing food quality, there is a pressing necessity to fortify quality control systems and establish stringent standards ensuring food safety. This study aims to scrutinize commercial samples of Origanum vulgare L. in the province of Jujuy, Argentine Republic, with the objective of assessing their authenticity and overall quality. Both macroscopic and microscopic techniques were employed to analyze composition and verify identity. Simultaneously, a thorough examination of product labels was conducted to ensure compliance with food regulations. Ethnographic techniques, including merchant interviews, were utilized to gather comprehensive insights. The findings reveal considerable variability in the composition of "oregano" samples, with instances of foreign elements such as stones and dust detected in some cases. Microscopic identification unequivocally confirmed the presence of contaminating elements. Notably, the majority of industrial products adhered to labeling standards, while a mere 10% of artisanal samples achieved similar compliance. The study also unveiled diverse culinary and medicinal applications for the examined oregano samples. These discoveries underscore the imperative for heightened oversight to guarantee the quality and purity of oregano products. The correlation between microscopic results and previous studies bolsters the reliability of this analytical approach. In conclusion, the study emphasizes the paramount importance of instituting policies and programs that advance food security. Seaweeds have emerged as promising marine living resources globally. With a distribution of over 20,000 species worldwide, only a tiny fraction, approximately 1.1 %, are commercially utilized. Among these, 145 species are used for food purposes, while 110 species are utilized for phycocolloid production. Seaweeds’ wide range of applications and benefits highlight their immense potential in various sectors. Based on the availability, abundance, and use, 26 seaweed species are recorded from Bangladesh's coastal area with commercial significance. Of these, red seaweed (Rhodophyceae) with 10 species (38.46 %), green seaweed (Chlorophyceae) with 08 species (30.77 %), and brown seaweed (Phaeophyceae) with 08 species (30.77 %). Seaweed species like Caulerpa sp., Ulva sp., Padina sp., Sargassum sp., Hypnea sp., and Gracilaria sp. offer numerous benefits and applications in pharmaceuticals, food, animal feed, cosmetic industry, waste water treatment, biofuel production, bioremediation, and agriculture due to their bioactive components, antimicrobial, and antioxidant properties. The development of sustainable cultivation techniques and investment in seaweed-based industries can unlock the immense potential of these marine resources and contribute to the growth of a sustainable blue economy. Harnessing the vast array of seaweed species and their commercial applications can lead to economic development while promoting sustainable practices.

Gracilaria gracilis is a benthic, intertidal red macroalga (Rhodophyta) of the commercially important Gracilaria genus. It's highly valued in scientific research for its ability to produce high-quality agar, a valuable polysaccharide widely utilised in various industries. This review serves as a guide to G. gracilis, encompassing various aspects of its biology, chemical composition, cultivation methods, and the main environmental factors influencing its growth as well as its different uses. The method used involved a descriptive analysis of articles sourced from Google Scholar, ScienceDirect, and Springer. The results of the review showed that G. gracilis is one of the best candidates for cultivation, giving an excellent resilience to salinity and temperature fluctuations and offering ease of vegetative reproduction, among others traits. It can grow in temperatures ranging from 20 to 30◦C, salinities between 25–35‰ and up to 42‰, depths ranging from 0.5 to 2.5 m, and light intensity of around 70 and 210 μmol photons m−2 s−1. Based on its chemical composition, G gracilis has many potentials as a source of high-value compounds and extracts for various uses in cosmetic, food, pharmaceutical, and biomedical industries. It is also used as a raw material or nutritious dietary item in the human diet, and can be suggested as a potential novel commercial source of phycobiliproteins.

Podcast-based Audio On-Demand technology on Spotify is one of the uses of new media to find information needs used by students in Surakarta. This research aims to determine students' satisfaction levels in Surakarta City using podcasts on Spotify. This research uses a quantitative approach, the population in this research is Surakarta City students who use podcasts on Spotify, with a sample of 40 respondents. The theory used in this research is the Uses and Gratification theory, which has 4 categories for measuring the level of satisfaction: information satisfaction, personal identity satisfaction, integration and social interaction satisfaction, and entertainment satisfaction. This article seeks to find the uses and gratification that consumers receive by using digital media during the lockdown when there is a situation of Covid. This article tries to provide a more comprehensive understanding of why consumers use digital media. Exploratory research was conducted. In-depth interviews were conducted with over 30 individuals who use social media or digital media during the lockdown. This study identified eight implications of uses and gratifications for using digital media. This paper summarized the distribution, medicinal parts and pharmacological effects of Magnoliaceae plants in the world ethnic medicine application, in order to lay a foundation for further digging the medicinal value of Magnoliaceae plants and the development and research of protection. The results showed that there were 7 genera and 51 species of Magnoliaceae with national medicinal value in the world at present. There were many parts of Magnoliaceae which could be used as medicine. The most important part was bark, followed by flowers. Magnolia has relatively large ethnic medicinal value and is widely used in China and the United States. Magnolia is only recorded in China in ethnic medicine and pharmaceutical application, and Michaelis is mainly used in South Asian countries, which may be related to the climate change of ancient and modern times. Some of the Magnolia species can be substituted for each other to treat similar diseases, but this should be done with caution. Apropos of Spanish or Languedocien elements manifest in the late 13th-century Durandus Pontifical, this study explores the relationship between high medieval ritual and identity formation. It introduces the notion of liturgical use, an inclusive term for the body of customs that determined the way ceremonies were performed by lasting communities with a sense of belonging together. The primary challenge of comparing uses lies in selecting and systematizing the relevant information and interpreting the results. The authors argue that this challenge can be met by reducing the evidence to textual items and positions that lend themselves to large-scale comparative analysis in both time and space. As the main methodological contribution, they introduce the principle of mapping and drawing historical and cultural conclusions from their patterns. By summarizing a decade of careful research into thousands of sources accomplished by the team of the Usuarium database, they present four historical layers of medieval liturgical history, termed formative periods, and outline convergent geographical areas that they call liturgical landscapes. Since data on a lower level rarely correspond to smaller contiguous areas, they interpret the phenomenon called artificial diversity through medieval concepts of regionality and cultural transfer, formulating some thought experiments to understand the ways in which a Europe of uses once functioned. AbstractDevOps is a potential solution to time and quality restrictions in software development. It aims to increase the frequency, quality, and speed of software delivery using automated procedures. DevOps is a culture transformation, not just a toolchain. DevOps emphasizes cooperation, automation, measurement, information sharing, and web service utilization. It positively impacts IT development, online services, and quality assurance. Before commencing the DevOps journey, it is necessary to understand DevOps principles, practices, tools, benefits, and underlying issues. Such vital parameters are critically reviewed in this article. This systematic review addresses gaps and recommendations related to DevOps, aiming to provide a comprehensive understanding of its culture and mindsets. The article presents an in-depth examination of DevOps, covering topics like architecture, components, tools, principles, and security challenges. It establishes a conceptual framework for practical implementation. Security has also been discussed in the paper, which is one of the difficult problems in DevOps implementations. The research findings aid in a better understanding of the phenomenon from a human factors perspective. The state-of-the-art discussion on several tools covering architectural and networking aspects in DevOps is included in this article to attract practitioners and researchers for DevOps adoption. Our analysis revealed three key themes related to DevOps culture and mindset: collaboration, continuous improvement, and automation. Moreover, DevOps is not immune to challenges. The proposed work presents the existing gaps and future research directions to address the same.

Introduction: Natural health products are frequently used by many people. However, many of these individuals do not discuss these products with their physicians, and instead seek information about the products from pharmacies or natural health product retailers. Previous research has shown that not all pharmacists are comfortable answering questions about these products as they receive little training in this area; natural health product retailers are unregulated and receive training at their own discretion. This study aimed to evaluate the accuracy of the information provided by pharmacies and natural health product retailers pertaining to use, adverse effects, and potential drug interactions for four currently popular products: garlic, peppermint, black licorice, and apple cider vinegar. Methods: The literature surrounding these products was reviewed and compared to information provided by pharmacies and natural health product retailers. The interviews were conducted by an investigator who presented as a potential client to closely mimic realworld interactions. Statistical analysis was limited to generating proportions and 95% confidence intervals for statements made about each product. Results: Overall, 10% of statements that were made regarding the uses for the four natural health products were consistent with the evidence-based literature, 40% of statements were consistent with the common use of the products, 47% of statements were inconsistent with the literature and 3% of statements reflected general opinions about the product. There was variation in the accuracy of statements depending on which product was discussed. When discussing adverse effects associated with the products 38% of statements made by pharmacists and 44% made by NHP retailers were consistent with the literature. Sixty-nine percent of pharmacists and 44% of NHP retailers correctly identified potential drug interactions for the products. Discussion: The majority of statements were consistent with common use but few evidence-based statements were made and a large proportion of statements that were inconsistent with literature were made. Most interviewees required prompting to discuss adverse effects and potential drug interactions. Conclusions: This study highlights a need for increased training of pharmacists and natural health product retailers to ensure that they are familiar with these popular natural health products and can provide accurate information to clients regarding use, adverse effects, and possible drug interactions. Cryptostegia grandiflora and C. madagascariensis (Apocynaceae) are the only two species of this Madagascan plant genus. Both have been transported around the world as ornamentals due to their attractive flowers and based on a perceived potential as sources of rubber - hence, the common name rubber vine - because of their copious latex, which also contains toxic cardiac glycosides. As a result of their vigorous growth and ability to climb over and smother vegetation, both species have become invasive, posing an actual or potential threat to native ecosystems in many tropical and sub-tropical countries, as well as to human and animal health. Classical biological control (CBC), or the introduction of co-evolved natural enemies to control an invasive alien species in its exotic range, has successfully been used to tackle C. grandiflora in northern Queensland, Australia. This strategy is currently being evaluated for its suitability to manage C. madagascariensis in north-eastern Brazil using the same Madagascan rust fungus, Maravalia cryptostegiae, released as a CBC agent in Australia. For CBC to be successful, it is critical to understand the taxonomy of the invader as well as the origin(s) of its weedy biotype(s) in order to select the best-matched co-evolved natural enemies. Based on an exhaustive search in published and unpublished sources, we summarise the taxonomy and uses of these rubber vines, follow their historical movements and track their earliest records and current weed status in more than 80 countries and territories around the world. Kalanchoe, a perennial succulent plant standing between 3 to 5 feet tall, possesses distinctive characteristics. It features long hollow stems, often referred to as “air plants,” along with fleshy dark green leaves that are notable for their scalloped edges adorned with a touch of red. The plant also showcases pendulous bell-shaped blooms, adding to its visual appeal. In terms of botany, the two main Latin names used to identify this plant are Bryophyllum pinnatum and Kalanchoe pinnatum, along with several synonymous names. Extensive literature analysis has been conducted to explore the medicinal and phytochemical properties of this plant. The research has uncovered a wide range of chemical components present in the plant, falling into various categories such as phenolics, aliphatic compounds, glycosides, steroids, diterpenoidal lactones, alkaloids, phenols, phenylpropanoids, flavonoids, triterpenoids, steroids, and organic salts. Studies have revealed that this plant possesses diverse pharmacological properties, including but not limited to wound healing activity, anti-lithiatic effects, anti-inflammatory properties, anti-tumour activity, anti-viral properties, anti-pyretic effects, antimutagenic activity, anti-hypertensive properties, anti-ulcer effects, anti-diabetic properties and insecticidal activity. The use of social networks by high school students from National Police schools in Bogotá includes the identification of possible gaps in cybersecurity issues, despite programmes and strategies related to responsible use when browsing cyberspace. This research is based on the comprehensive-interpretive (sociological) paradigm with a mixed approach of qualitative predominance. A documentary review, a student survey and an in-depth interview with parents and speakers were carried out. The findings were grouped into two categories; cybersecurity and education. The results of the survey showed hyper-connectivity on the part of the students; the interaction carried out through social networks, especially through the exchange of photos, videos, sharing statuses and making video calls. The findings of the interview express that, although each educational establishment is autonomous, among parents, caregivers and teachers an expressly defined route is not clear to follow when evidencing emerging dangers to the use evidenced in social networks. There is also a lack of greater co-responsibility when identifying certain types of behaviour that threaten students, given that some parents consider that it is an issue that the school should take care of, while teachers believe that it is the parents' responsibility. In conclusion, the need to assess the degree of acceptance, the effectiveness and the scope of strategies developed by schools and private or government entities, with respect to raising awareness on cybersecurity issues and responsible use when browsing the Internet, is revealed. This article traces the circulation in Spanish of Barthes’ work from the early 1960s to the 1980s. We focus especially on the most important Barthesian translations and critical uses in the Argentinean intellectual field, which we place in dialogue with other critical fields in Spain and Mexico, whose comparative approach will allow us to observe critical positions that are different from the circulation of ‘French theory’ in the countries of the North. At the crossroads of critical approaches in language education and technology in education, the study of technology in language education (eg, Warschauer, 1998; Ollivier, 2019) has complementary critical foundations to ensure its development, provided that a critical mass of researchers work to further structure them. To this end, we propose to focus on critical approaches to technology in education as contributory approaches to the critical study of technology in language education. To do so, we begin by establishing some markers of critical approaches in general. We then mobilize them for the case of technology in education, positioning them as ways to overcome two common conceptions of the "technology-education" relationship: instrumentalist and technodeterministic approaches. To provide a more tangible view of their contributions, we finally present a theoretical framework among others (see Collin, 2022), which apprehends technopedagogical innovation at the intersection of critical approaches to technology and Social Shaping of Technology (SST) studies.

Scorodophloeus zenkeri is an aromatic plant of the Caesalpiniaceae family distributed exclusively in a few countries in tropical Africa. The literature provides little information on S. zenkeri. Hence the idea to list in this mini-review the scientific data of ethnobotanical, phytochemical, and biological activity studies published on this plant. The majority of the ethnobotanical data collected reveals that S. zenkeri is used in the food, medicinal, stimulant, condiment, construction, and carpentry sectors. Furthermore, phytochemical studies show that S. zenkeri is a source of phytoconstituents and/or nutrients (proteins, amino acids, essential fatty acids, mineral salts, antioxidants, etc.) that are essential in nutrition and/or can be used in food (as a food additive), pharmaceutical and cosmetic industries. However, most phytochemical studies carried out on S. zenkeri focus only on its essential oils and show that the latter is composed mainly of sulfur compounds which are responsible for the aromatic potential (flavor and odor) of extracts from this plant. In addition, various scientific data from biological screenings carried out on S. zenkeri indicate that the extracts of this plant have antimicrobial, antioxidant, and anticancer activities. The essential oils of S. zenkeri are considered to be responsible for most of the pharmacological actions reported on this plant. S. zenkeri has, in addition to the flavor it imparts to foods, an interesting nutritional potential and is a source of proteins, essential fatty and amino acids, antioxidants, and minerals. In the last 20 years, the occurrences of drug shortages have increased in frequency as well as duration before returning to the mainstream market. This has prompted intensive care unit nurses and medical staff to seek alternate medication infusion options that provide safe yet effective sedation for patients admitted to intensive care units across the country. Dexmedetomidine (PRECEDEX) emerged in 1999 after the Federal Drug Administration approved it for intensive care use but was quickly embraced by anesthesia providers as it rendered patients undergoing procedures or surgery with adequate analgesia and sedation. Dexmedetomidine (PRECEDEX) continued to maintain patients who required short-term intubation and mechanical ventilation with adequate sedation throughout the entire perioperative period. With patients remaining hemodynamically stable in the initial postoperative period, critical care nurses embraced the use of dexmedetomidine (PRECEDEX) in the intensive care unit setting. As dexmedetomidine (PRECEDEX) gained popularity, it has been used to help manage multiple disease processes such as delirium, agitation, alcoholic withdrawal, and anxiety. Dexmedetomidine (PRECEDEX) has been indicated to be a safer alternative to benzodiazepines, narcotics, or propofol (Diprivan), while providing adequate sedation and allowing patients to maintain hemodynamic stability. During the last few decades essential oils derived from different herbs and aromatic plants have received a growing focus of scientific investigation due to their multifunctional uses beyond their traditional roles as food additives and scents. Over 3000 species have been identified as medicinal plants that produce essential oils. Vetiver grass has wide range of diversity throughout the world with diverse genotype variability. It has multifarious uses in various agricultural, medicinal, aromatic, engineering, conservational and in industrial sectors. The C. zizanioides is well known in various regions of South Asia, Southeast Asia, and West Africa. Vetiver roots, particularly those from Karnataka, have been utilised to make herbal drinks that are energising to combat tiredness. The vetiver grass, referred as "vetiver" or "vetiver-vetiver" in India, serves a variety of purposes in aromatic, pharmaceuticals, food, and beverage industries. Background and Aim: Maternal health care services are critical to reducing maternal fatalities and should be available throughout the health system due to their importance in ensuring safe motherhood and the overall well-being of families and communities. The purpose of this research is to ascertain the level of Maternal and Child Health (MCH) awareness and utilization among residents of Nasarrawa State's Dagbadna Karu Local Government Area. Materials and Methods: Purposive sampling was used to determine the sample size (n = 286) for a descriptive cross-sectional study that ran from September 2022 to December 2022. Statistical Package Service Software (SPSS) version 23.0 was used to analyze the data, which included tables, percentages, and Chi-square test statistics at the 0.05 level of significance. Results: With a mean age of 29.6 years, 42% of the participants were between the ages of 33 and 38. In comparison, 255 of the participants (89.5%) were married, while 14 (4.9%) were unmarried. The most common level of education is secondary education, which is held by 111 respondents, or 38.8%. This study found a high level of awareness (196.6, 68.7%) but a low level of utilization of MCH Care Services (137.5, 48.1%). It also demonstrates that participants' knowledge and utilization of maternal and child healthcare services are not significantly related (Chi-square (χ2)= 8.867, df = 1, P = 0.012). Conclusions: The primary goal of MCH Services remains to ensure that every woman maintains optimal health throughout pregnancy and puerperium, with a healthy mother and baby at the end of pregnancy, and to support the child's health throughout infancy and childhood. As a result, this research suggests a strategy for increasing community participation and, ultimately, sustaining and improving the quality, usability, and accessibility of maternal health care services provided by government agencies in both rural and urban areas.

The study of the construction and evolution of Brazilian forestry legislation’s allows us to retrace the way in which elites and governments historically considered the use of forests and other forms of vegetation. This article highlights the ambivalent character of this process and thus proposes an original approach to analyse the current issues at stake in Brazil, in the time of the Anthropocene.
