PurposeSeveral surgical risk models are widely utilized in general surgery to predict postoperative morbidity. However, no studies have been undertaken to examine the predictive efficacy of these models in biliary tract cancer patients, and other perioperative variables can also influence morbidity. As a result, the study’s goal was to examine these models alone, as well as risk models combined with disease-specific factors, in predicting severe complications.MethodsA retrospective study of 129 patients was carried out. Data on demographics, surgery, and outcomes were gathered. These model equations were used to determine the morbidity risks. Severe morbidity was defined as the complication comprehensive index ≥ 40.ResultsSevere morbidity was observed in 25% (32/129) patients. Multivariate analysis demonstrated that four parameters [comprehensive risk score ≥1, T stage, albumin decrease value, and international normalized ratio (INR)] had a significant influence on the probability of major complications. The area under the curve (AUC) of combining the four parameters was assessed as having strong predictive value and was superior to the Estimation of Physiologic Ability and Surgical Stress System (E-PASS) alone (the AUC value was 0.858 vs. 0.724, p = 0.0375). The AUC for the modified E-PASS (mE-PASS) and Physiological and Operative Severity Score for the Enumeration of Mortality and Morbidity (POSSUM) in patients over the age of 70 was classified as no predictive value (p = 0.217 and p = 0.063, respectively).ConclusionThe mE-PASS and POSSUM models are ineffective in predicting postoperative morbidity in patients above the age of 70. In biliary tract cancer (BTC) patients undergoing radical operation, a combination of E-PASS and perioperative parameters generates a reasonable prediction value for severe complications.

Abstract Extracellular vesicles (EVs) in the field of spinal cord injury (SCI) have garnered significant attention for their potential applications in diagnosis and therapy. However, no bibliometric assessment has been conducted to evaluate the scientific progress in this area. A search of articles in Web of Science (WoS) from January 1, 1991, to May 1, 2023, yielded 359 papers that were analyzed using various online analysis tools. These articles have been cited 10,842 times with 30.2 times per paper. The number of publications experienced explosive growth starting in 2015. China and the United States led this research initiative. Keywords were divided into 3 clusters, including “Pathophysiology of SCI”, “Bioactive components of EVs”, and “Therapeutic effects of EVs in SCI”. By integrating the average appearing year (AAY) of keywords in VoSviewer with the time zone map of the Citation Explosion in CiteSpace, the focal point of research has undergone a transformative shift. The emphasis has moved away from pathophysiological factors such as “axon”, “vesicle”, and “glial cell” to more mechanistic and applied domains such as “activation”, “pathways”, “hydrogels” and “therapy”. In conclusions, institutions are expected to allocate more resources towards EVs-loaded hydrogel therapy and the utilization of innovative materials for injury mitigation.

This paper proposes an enterprise performance management model based on the CPS evaluation system to improve the efficiency and efficiency of enterprises. First, this paper explains the connotation of the CPS evaluation system and constructs an enterprise performance evaluation model. The index data is normalized, and the index weights are calculated using Delphi and entropy methodsthod so that the indexes are scored comprehensively. Then the enterprise performance management system was established, and the assessment criteria for each department of the enterprise, including the finance and production departments, were established. Finally, the management effect of this performance management model was analyzed in terms of enterprise profit and return rate. In terms of enterprise profit, the enterprise’s net profit was between 700,000 and 800,000 in the five months before the adoption of this method, while the profit of the enterprise was basically above 800,000 and increased month by month after the adoption of this system. In terms of payback rate, the payback rate fluctuated around 60% before the adoption of the evaluation system, but after the adoption, the payback rate of the enterprise was above 70% and showed an increasing trend. The enterprise performance management mode based on the CPS evaluation system can improve the efficiency of the enterprise, which proves the reliability of the method of this paper.

Owing to historical reasons and investment restrictions, China’s aerospace industry initially focused on space technology and application, with insufficient emphasis on space science; therefore, space science, technology, and application developed independently. The development of space technology should be deeply integrated into space science and application, thus to strengthen China’s aerospace industry and create new opportunities and achievements. This study explores the implications of space science, space technology, and space application and clarifies their interrelationships. Moreover, it systematically analyzes the development trend in space science, technology, and application worldwide and reviews the development situation of space-related fields in China. Based on this, it examines the necessity for coordinating the development of space science, technology, and application in China and summarizes the major challenges. Considering their overlapping needs and mutual promotion, space science, technology, and application should be coordinated throughout the process of planning, deployment, and implementation. First, the advantages of the new national system should be exploited to conduct top-level planning under unified management. Second, the innovation-driven development strategy should be insisted to promote the international competitiveness of China’s aerospace industry through technological progress. Third, basic research in the space field should be strengthened and high-level scientists and engineers should be cultivated. Lastly, resource planning and coordination should be strengthened to promote the rational opening and full utilization of space application data.

Existing protocol recognition methods cannot effectively extract the temporal and spatial characteristics of protocol data,which leads to low accuracy of protocol recognition.An application layer protocol recognition method based on one dimensional residual network and recurrent neural network is proposed.The proposed model consists of one dimensional preactivated residual network(PreResNet) and bidirectional gated recurrent neural network(BiGRU).The PreResNet is used to extract spatial characteristics of the protocol data,and the BiGRU is used to extract temporal characteristics of the protocol data.The attention mechanism is used to extract the key features related to protocol recognition to improve the accuracy of protocol recognition.The proposed method firstly extracts the application layer protocol data from network traffic,and the data is preprocessed and transformed into one dimensional vectors.Then the classification model is trained with the training data and a mature protocol recognition model is obtained.Finally,the trained classification model is used to identify the application layer protocols.Experimental results on public dataset ISCX2012 show that the proposed protocol recognition model has an overall accuracy of 96.87% and an average F value of 96.81%,which are higher than those of other protocol recognition models.

BackgroundCuproptosis, a genetic process of copper-dependent cell death linked to mitochondria respiration, demonstrates its correlation with inhibiting tumoral angiogenesis and motility. Recent studies have developed systematic bioinformatics frameworks to identify the association of cuproptosis with tumors but any non-neoplastic diseases. Therefore, against the background of an increased incidence of inflammatory bowel disease (IBD), the landscape of cuproptosis regulation in IBD is a critical need to be investigated.MethodsThe differentially expressed cuproptosis-related genes (DECRGs) were identified with human sequencing profiles for four inflammatory digestive disorders. Another four independent IBD datasets from GEO were used as a validation cohort. And experimental mice model provides another validation method. Using single sample gene set enrichment analysis (ssGSEA), receiver operating characteristic (ROC) curve, CIBERSORT, and consensus clustering algorithms, we explored the association between immune score and cuproptosis-related genes, as well as the diagnostic value of these genes. Molecular docking screened potential interaction of IBD drugs with the structural regulator by Autodock Vina.ResultsCuproptosis-related regulators exhibited extensive differential expression in Crohn’s Disease (CD), Ulcerative Colitis (UC), Celiac Disease (CEL), and IBD-induced cancer (IBD-CA) that share common differential genes (PDHA1, DBT, DLAT, LIAS). The differential expression of DECRGs was reverified in the validated cohort and immunohistochemistry assay. Moreover, the cell signaling pathways and ontology mainly focused on the mitochondrial respiratory function, which was highly enriched in Gene set enrichment analysis (GSEA). According to ssGSEA and ROC, when considering the four regulators, which showed robust association with immune infiltration in IBD, the area under the ROC (AUC) was 0.743. In addition, two clusters of consensus clustering based on the four regulators exhibit different immune phenotypes. According to molecular docking results, methotrexate gained the highest binding affinity to the main chain of key cuproptosis-related regulators compared with the remaining ten drugs.ConclusionCuproptosis-related regulators were widely linked to risk variants, immune cells, immune function, and drug efficacy in IBD. Regulation of cuproptosis may deeply influence the occurrence and development of patients with IBD.

Developmental dysplasia of the hip (DDH) is a common hip disease that seriously affects children's growth, impairing limb development and quality of life. Early diagnosis and treatment of DDH are crucial. Magnetic resonance imaging provides rich morphological information of the hip during development. Clinically DDH is usually diagnosed by visual inspection of the medical images, thus requiring high professional expertise of the doctors. In this work, a quantitative morphological evaluation method for examining the hip images and diagnosing DDH in children is proposed. This method evaluates morphological parameters of the hip quantitatively by automatically measuring the morphological parameters relevant to DDH pathological changes. The magnetic resonance images were first preprocessed, followed by segmentation of the femur and pelvis. A three-dimensional (3D) model of the hip joint was then reconstructed, which was then used to measure the center-edge angle (CEA), acetabular index (AI) and femoral neck anteversion (FNA)'s automatically with algorithms such as thickness search, 3D Hough transform, and least squares fitting. The quantitative morphological evaluation method developed may have great value in preliminary screening of DDH in children, formulation of surgical plans, and longitudinal follow-ups after DDH surgery.

Abstract Background Protein regulator of cytokinesis 1 (PRC1) has been reported to play important role in the pathogenesis of various cancers. However, its role in colon cancer has not been studied. Here, we aimed to investigate the biological functions and potential mechanism of PRC1 in colon cancer. Methods The expression level of PRC1 in colon cancer tissues and cell lines was detected by quantitative real-time polymerase chain reaction (qRT-PCR), Western blotting, and immunohistochemical (IHC) staining of a tissue microarray (TMA). Furthermore, colon cancer cell lines HCT116 and SW480 were treated with short hairpin RNAs against PRC1. The biological function of PRC1 was determined by MTT proliferation, colony formation assay, cell cycle, and apoptosis assays. Then, an in vivo tumor formation assay was conducted to explore the effects of PRC1 on tumor growth. Results The mRNA and protein expression levels of PRC1 were highly expressed in colon cancer tissues and cell lines. PRC1 expression was associated with clinicopathological characteristics and overall survival of patients with colon cancer. Knockdown of PRC1 could decrease proliferation and colony forming ability of colon cancer cells, as well as arrested more cells at G2/M phase and promoted cell apoptosis. In cancer cells, the expression pattern of protein regulators included in cell cycle and apoptosis progress were reverted by PRC1 down-regulation. Additionally, PRC1 down-regulation could suppress colon tumor growth and differentiation. Conclusions We confirmed that PRC1 was overexpressed in colon cancer and was associated with poor prognosis of colon cancer patients. PRC1 down-regulation could arrest cell cycle at G2/M stage, inhibit proliferation, and elicit apoptosis. These findings showed the potential of PRC1 to be used for therapeutic approaches in colon cancer.

With chitosan mass fraction changing from 0% to 50% by 5%, relative to collagen mass, the collagen-chitosan scaffolds were crosslinked by γ-irradiation and EDC/NHS. Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR) and SEM were applied to analyze the structure. Water absorption rate, porosity, collagenase degradation and mechanical property were used to detect the properties. The effects of γ-irradiation and EDC/NHS modification on the properties of scaffolds were studied. The results show that both γ-irradiation and EDC/NHS modification induce crosslinking in collagen-chitosan scaffolds and chitosan greatly reduce the damage to molecular structure caused by γ-irradiation.The microstructure crosslinked by γ-irradiation is worse than those crosslinked by EDC/NHS. The optimal chitosan mass fraction is 25% for both γ-irradiation and EDC/NHS. γ-irradiation and EDC/NHS scaffold modification can lead to orientation structure.

Background. Under-five diarrhea is one of the major causes of morbidity and mortality in developing countries. Despite the tremendous achievement in reducing child mortality and morbidity in the last two decades, diarrhea is still the major causes of morbidity and mortality in resource-limited countries like Ethiopia due to the absence of clean water and poor sanitation and hygiene. Objective. This study aimed to assess the association of water, sanitation, and hygiene on the prevalence of diarrhea among under-five children in the rural community of Ethiopia. Methods. A cross-sectional study was conducted among randomly selected 419 under-five children from October to December 2021 in Dangila district, Northwest Ethiopia. A structured questionnaire was used to collect sociodemographic, environmental, and behavioral data. Data were entered into Epi Info and analyzed using SPSS software. BACKGROUND In the Western Yunnan, there is an abundance of low-grade gold resources with uneven grain size, complicated ore structure and incomplete separation. Using the traditional mineralogical analysis process, it is difficult to achieve accurate and rapid determination of the occurrence of gold and the inlay characteristics of gold-bearing minerals. OBJECTIVES To study the mineralogy process of polymetallic gold ores in Western Yunnan. METHODS:The mineral composition, dissemination size, and inclusions characteristics of gold ores were analyzed, and the effect of mineralogical properties of gold-bearing minerals on the recovery of gold was determined. The X-ray Fluorescence Spectrometer and eight-lamp flame graphite furnace integrated Atomic Absorption Spectrometer were used for the analysis of ore properties, and the ore samples were analyzed by Mineral Liberation Analysis. RESULTS The results show that gold is mainly in the form of free gold, with superfine dissemination size of gold minerals, mainly concentrated on the 0.01 mm to 0.02 mm granularity level. Gold smaller than 0.074 mm presents as free monomer natural gold, which accounts for 50.08% of the total gold. Other gold occurs as inclusions in pyrite, magnetite and chalcopyrite. However, the gold-bearing minerals have small grain size, poor dissociation, and uneven embedding. CONCLUSIONS Increasing the dissociation degree of major gold-bearing minerals is an important method for increasing gold recovery.

Bisphenol A (BPA), a widely used industrial compound worldwide, was recently classified as an environmental toxicant. The intestines and liver are responsible for detoxification in humans and animals, and functional damage to these organs adversely affects the health of the body. However, the effect of BPA on intestinal and liver function remains unclear. In this study, we investigated the effects of dietary BPA uptake on oxidative stress, inflammatory response, apoptosis and mitochondrial function in the colons and livers of mice. Dietary BPA uptake significantly reduced the body weights of mice as well as their colon and liver weights. Dietary BPA uptake increased the levels of oxidative stress indicators such as reactive oxygen species, reactive nitrogen species, malondialdehyde and hydrogen peroxide in mouse serum, colon and liver tissues. Antioxidant indicators, such as superoxide dismutase, glutathione peroxidase, catalase and total antioxidant capacity, as well as proinflammatory cytokines (interleukin-1β, interleukin-6, interleukin-8 and tumor necrosis factor-α) were also significantly reduced in the serum, colon, and liver tissues in the BPA group. Moreover, mitochondria-encoded genes and mitochondrial copy numbers were significantly reduced in the colon and liver tissues of the BPA mice. Dietary BPA uptake also increased gene abundance and enzyme activity of caspase-3, -8, -9 and -10. Our study found that dietary BPA induced oxidative stress, inflammatory response, apoptosis and mitochondrial dysfunction in mouse colons and livers.

Background: The aim of this review was to evaluate the effect of laparoscopic surgery on the treatment of patients with gallbladder cancer (GBC). Methods: A comprehensive search of Medline and Cochrane Library was conducted to identify relevant articles. A meta-analysis was subsequently performed. Results: A total of 20 studies including 1217 patients met the inclusion criteria. The meta-analysis showed that the 5-year survival rate was significant higher in laparoscopic group than open group (48.4% vs. 38.5%; odds ratio [OR], 1.63; 95% confidence interval [CI], 1.22–2.19; P = 0.001). Although the scar recurrence rate was significant higher in laparoscopic group than open group (7.1% vs. 4.0%; OR, 2.10; 95% CI, 1.11–3.96; P = 0.02), the overall recurrence rates between two groups were not significant different (44.8% vs. 42.2%; OR, 0.86; 95% CI, 0.64–1.14; P = 0.29). In addition, compared with open extended cholecystectomy (EC), laparoscopic EC (LEC) was associated with less intraoperative blood loss, shorter post-operative hospital stays and insignificant less complication rate (10.0% vs. 18.3%; OR, 0.51; 95% CI, 0.15–1.73; P = 0.28). Conclusion: Laparoscopic simple cholecystectomy does not lead to a worse prognosis when applied on patients with GBC. LEC can be performed in specialised expert centres on elective patients.

Background/Aims: Intestinal transplantation is an effective treatment for end-stage bowel failure; however, graft rejection and the toxicity associated with non-specific immunosuppression are major limitations of this procedure. Studies have shown that mixed chimerism can produce post-transplantation immune tolerance. Here, we demonstrate that in rat intestinal transplantation, PU.1-silenced dendritic cells (DCs) plus bone marrow (BM) cell transfusion results in mixed chimerism, and we investigate the mechanisms responsible for the effects of mixed chimerism rejection. Methods: In a model of intestinal transplantation, male Brown Norway rats were the donors, and female Lewis rats were the recipients that were randomly divided into 4 groups: control, BM, BM-imDCs and BM-PU.1. The dynamic changes in graft morphology, rejection scoring and serum concentrations of Th1/Th2-related cytokines were investigated on postoperative days 0, 7, 14, 21, and 30. Results: The BM-PU.1 group had better graft health, milder pathologic injuries, and lower rejection grades compared with the other groups. The rates of mixed chimerism were significantly highest in the BM-PU.1 group and correlated with decreases in serum IL-2 and increases in serum IL-10. Conclusion: Transfusion of PU.1-silenced DCs and BM cells induces stable mixed chimerism and has the potential to reduce pathologic injuries via a pro-Th2 shift in the Th1/Th2 balance.
