Prevention of surgical site infection (SSI) after gastrectomy has received increasing attention. Prophylactic incisional wound irrigation has been advocated to reduce SSI, but the choice of solution remains under debate.To compare the efficacies of wound irrigation with normal saline (NS) and povidone-iodine (PVI) for the prevention of SSI after gastrectomy, and to identify the risk factors for SSI.This randomized, single-centre clinical trial included 340 patients with gastric cancer. They were assigned at random into two groups (ratio 1:1) to receive either 0.9% NS or 1.0% PVI solution for incisional irrigation before wound closure. The primary endpoint was postoperative SSI within 30 days of gastrectomy, and the secondary endpoint was the length of hospital stay.In total, 333 patients were included in the modified intent-to-treat group, and the SSI rate did not differ significantly between the PVI group (11/167, 6.59%) and the NS group (9/166, 5.42%) [odds ratio (OR) 1.131, 95% confidence interval (CI) 0.459-3.712; P=0.655]. Moreover, the difference between the two groups in terms of length of hospital stay was not significant (P=0.301). Body mass index (BMI) (OR 2.639, 95% CI 1.040-6.694; P=0.041) and postoperative complications (OR 2.565, 95% CI 1.023-6.431; P=0.045) were identified as independent risk factors for SSI.NS and PVI had similar efficacy as prophylactic wound irrigation for the prevention of SSI after gastrectomy. The risk of SSI was higher in patients with high BMI or postoperative complications.

The main scientific goal of LHAASO-WCDA is to survey gamma-ray sources with energy from 100 GeV to 30 TeV. To observe high-energy shower events, especially to measure the energy spectrum of cosmic rays from 100 TeV to 10 PeV, a dynamic range extension system (WCDA++) is designed to use a 1.5-inch PMT with a dynamic range of four orders of magnitude for each cell in WCDA-1. The dynamic range is extended by using these PMTs to measure the effective charge density in the core region of air shower events, which is an important parameter for identifying the composition of primary particles. The system has been running for more than one year. In this paper, the details of the design and performance of WCDA++ are presented.

Wheat refers to a critical grain crop in China, and ensuring the stable, high quality, high yielding production of wheat is of significance to China’s food security. Chitosan oligosaccharide (COS), i.e., amino-oligosaccharide, is a bio-pesticide readily absorbed by crop plants, capable of improving nutrient absorption and reproductive growth. This study aimed to determine the effects of COS on promoting wheat growth and its effect on the accumulation of malondialdehyde (MDA), as well as common antioxidant enzymes frequently related to plant tolerance. As indicated from the results, COS treatment (50–800 μg/mL) led to the significant (P < 0.05) increase in the height, root length, fresh and dry weight of all the tested wheat cultivars (Bainong 4199, Zhengyu 11 and Bainong 207). Moreover, the physiological analysis indicated that the activity of four antioxidant enzymes, i.e., catalase (CAT), superoxide dismutase (SOD), peroxidase (POD) and polyphenol oxidase (PPO) in leaves, achieved the similar improvements, and MDA accumulation was reduced significantly (P < 0.05). The above results confirmed that COS can significantly promote the growth of wheat, and under the condition of increased antioxidant enzyme activity, it can reduce lipid peroxidation and may also improve stress resistance. Thus, using COS in commercial wheat production may be noticeably conducive to sustaining future wheat yields and food security in China.

Precision neurosurgery concept as well as the establishment of it's technical platform, have played essential roles in promoting the modern surgical management of brain gliomas in China.In the past decade,the multidisciplinary integration of medical sciences and technology innovations has significantly promoted the clinical implementation of new imaging and novel navigation technology.With active clinical translational research and practice,precision neurosurgery has developed from "startup prologue" (simple anatomical navigation) to "precision neurosurgery 1.0" (intraoperative MRI with multimodal neuronavigation),followed by "precision neurosurgery 2.0" (informative and systematic upgrading).In the past decade,Chinese researchers have made significant and remarkable achievements in precision neurosurgery through continuous efforts and innovation.In the future,state-of-art technologies such as artificial intelligence on deep learning and machine learning,multimodal real-time navigation,intraoperative optical imaging,and targeted molecular imaging technology will promote the development of precision neurosurgery in a coordinated manner, leading to the advent of "precision neurosurgery 3.0".精准神经外科理念的发展及相关技术平台的建设对我国脑胶质瘤外科的发展有重要的推动作用。10年的发展历程中，通过医学和理工学科的多学科、多领域交叉融合，不断整合新的成像和导航手段，并积极进行临床转化研发与实践，使精准神经外科经历了从单纯解剖导航的“初创时代”，到基于多模态导航和术中MRI的“精准神经外科1.0”时代，再到信息化、体系化升级的“精准神经外科2.0”时代。我国学者通过不断努力和创新，取得了许多令人瞩目的成绩。未来，人工智能深度机器学习、多模态图像实时融合导航手术、光学成像、靶向分子影像等前沿技术将协同推动脑胶质瘤外科的发展，引领“精准神经外科3.0”时代的到来。.

Adenosine, as an endogenous purine nucleoside, is widely distributed in various tissues and organs of the body. It binds to adenosine receptors to regulate a variety of important biological processes. Adenosine 2A receptors have a close relationship with the occurrence and development of various clinical diseases. By means of numerical simulation and experimental, the liquid filling forming process of an aluminum alloy double concave and convex curved sheet part was studied. The quality of forming parts, especially the thinning rate, is compared and studied during different hydroforming process. The results show that the thinning rate of the product is more than 25% regardless of the passive or active liquid filling drawing. However, the maximum thinning rate of the product is less than 20% when the hybrid hydroforming is carried out in a set of die with passive liquid filling in sequence, followed by pulsating reverse liquid filling. The method has reference significance for improving the forming quality of the parts with concave and convex surface of thin plate.

Recently, the LHAASO Collaboration published the detection of 12 ultrahigh-energy γ-ray sources above 100 TeV, with the highest energy photon reaching 1.4 PeV. The first detection of PeV γ rays from astrophysical sources may provide a very sensitive probe of the effect of the Lorentz invariance violation (LIV), which results in decay of high-energy γ rays in the superluminal scenario and hence a sharp cutoff of the energy spectrum. Two highest energy sources are studied in this work. No signature of the existence of the LIV is found in their energy spectra, and the lower limits on the LIV energy scale are derived. Our results show that the first-order LIV energy scale should be higher than about 10^{5} times the Planck scale M_{Pl} and that the second-order LIV scale is10^{-3}M_{Pl}. Both limits improve by at least one order of magnitude the previous results.

We report the discovery of an extended very-high-energy (VHE) gamma-ray source around the location of the middle-aged (207.8 kyr) pulsar PSR J0622+3749 with the Large High-Altitude Air Shower Observatory (LHAASO). The source is detected with a significance of 8.2σ for E25 TeV assuming a Gaussian template. The best-fit location is (right ascension, declination) =(95.47°±0.11°,37.92°±0.09°), and the extension is 0.40°±0.07°. The energy spectrum can be described by a power-law spectrum with an index of -2.92±0.17_{stat}±0.02_{sys}. No clear extended multiwavelength counterpart of the LHAASO source has been found from the radio to sub-TeV bands. The LHAASO observations are consistent with the scenario that VHE electrons escaped from the pulsar, diffused in the interstellar medium, and scattered the interstellar radiation field. If interpreted as the pulsar halo scenario, the diffusion coefficient, inferred for electrons with median energies of ∼160 TeV, is consistent with those obtained from the extended halos around Geminga and Monogem and much smaller than that derived from cosmic ray secondaries. The LHAASO discovery of this source thus likely enriches the class of so-called pulsar halos and confirms that high-energy particles generally diffuse very slowly in the disturbed medium around pulsars.

Nowadays, gesture recognition with radar is attracting wide attention from researchers and practitioners. The classification of an isolated and segmented gesture has been studied thoroughly. However, the detection, classification and segmentation of a series of gestures embedded in a data stream remains intractable. To address this problem, we develop a gesture recognition system based on millimetre-wave radar and deep learning. The radar measures range and Doppler features of gestures with high resolution. The data stream collected by radar is slightly pre-treated to suppress interference and extract information. A sliding window is used to slice those streams into appropriate data units, which are then fed to convolutional neural networks to estimate the probabilities of gesture types. By utilizing the change in those probabilities with time, the joint recognition and segmentation of gestures is realized. Experiments with real data shows that the recognition accuracy of 5 gestures is up to 92.48%.

We report the discovery of a UHE gamma-ray source, LHAASO J2108+5157, by analyzing the LHAASO-KM2A data of 308.33 live days. Significant excess of gamma-ray induced showers is observed in both energy bands of 25-100 TeV and $\gt$100 TeV with 9.5 sigma and 8.5 sigma, respectively. This source is not significantly favored as an extensive source with the angular extension smaller than the point-spread function of KM2A. The measured energy spectrum from 20 to 200 TeV can be approximately described by a power-law function with an index of -2.83$\pm$ 0.18stat. A harder spectrum is demanded at lower energies considering the flux upper limit set by Fermi-LAT observations. The position of the gamma-ray emission is correlated with a giant molecular cloud, which favors a hadronic origin. As the most common primary brain cancer in adults, glioblastoma shows an extremely poor prognosis. Glioblastoma-associated deaths account for approximately 3%-4% of all malignancy-associated deaths. Numerous microRNAs (miRNAs) play important roles in the occurrence and progression of solid tumors. Herein, identifying functional miRNAs and the central molecular mechanisms would provide novel proofs for the development of targeted cancer therapies. In this study, we described the role of miR-449b-5p in restraining ontogenesis and progression of glioblastoma.Human glioblastoma tissues were provided by our hospital. Human U251 glioblastoma cells were infected with lentivirus induced miR-449b-5p mimics or miR-449b-5p siRNA. Real-time qPCR was carried out to determine miRNA expression. Tumor spheres formation, MTT assay, and BrdU cell proliferation assay were used to evaluate the growth ability of U251 cells. Western blot assay was performed to measure protein expression. ChIP was used to detect the capacity of β-catenin to recruit its downstream genes. Dual-Luciferase assay was conducted to detect the ability of miR-449b-5p to regulate the 3'UTR (untranslated regions) of WNT2B. TOP/FOP ratio was used to evaluate the activity of Wnt/β-catenin signaling pathway.Down-regulation of miR-449b-5p expression was found in both human glioblastoma tissues and cell lines, which was negatively associated with the clinical stages. Up-regulation of miR-449b-5p inhibited tumor spheres formation, cell viability and proliferation ability of glioblastoma cells. The expression levels of WNT2B and nuclear β-catenin were negatively associated with miR-449b-5p levels in glioblastoma cells. MiR-449b-5p inhibited Wnt/β-catenin signaling by targeting WNT2B.MiR-449b-5p acts as a tumor suppressor and retards the oncogenesis of glioblastoma, which is achieved via inactivation of Wnt/β-catenin signaling by directly targeting WNT2B.

This study aimed to investigate the effects of prostaglandin E2 receptor subtypes 1 (EP1) and 2 (EP2) on endoplasmic reticulum (ER) stress induced by TGF-β1 in mouse mesangial cells (MCs) and to explore its potential mechanisms.Mouse mesangial cells were isolated and cultured. EP-siRNAs were transfected into mesangial cells for silencing EP1 and EP2. Mesangial cell proliferation was assessed by the CCK-8 method. Expression of PGE2 was measured by enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). GRP78, TRPC1, ERK1/2, and phospho-ERK1/2 levels were examined by Western blot.TGF-β1 induced mesangial cell proliferation and increased PGE2 secretion. Besides, TGF-β1 significantly upregulated GRP78 and TRPC1 expression at the protein level. Phospho-ERK1/2 protein amounts were also increased (p0.05). Compared with the TGF-β1 group, cell proliferation in the EP1-siRNA+TGF-β1 group was reduced, while GRP78, TRPC1, and ERK1/2 protein amounts were downregulated (p0.05). EP1 agonist significantly enhanced above changes and their activities (p0.05). EP1 antagonist significantly attenuated the above changes (p0.05). Compared with TGF-β1 group, cell proliferation in EP2-siRNA+TGF-β1 group was increased, while GRP78, TRPC1, and ERK1/2 protein amounts were increased (p0.05). EP2 agonist significantly attenuated the above changes (p0.05).EP1 receptor may increase TGF-β1-induced cell damage by increasing the activities of GRP78, TRPC1, and ERK1/2 via ER stress. Meanwhile, the EP2 receptor may reduce TGF-β1-induced cell damage by suppressing GRP78, TRPC1, and ERK1/2 activities, also via ER stress. EP1 inhibition and EP2 stimulation may be a therapeutic option for delaying renal fibrosis.
