To assess the predictors of ghost infarct core (GIC) in stroke patients achieving successful recanalization after mechanical thrombectomy (MT), based on final infarct volume (FIV) calculated from follow-up diffusion-weighted imaging (DWI).A total of 115 consecutive stroke patients who had undergone baseline computed tomography perfusion (CTP) scan, achieved successful recanalization after MT, and finished follow-up DWI evaluation were retrospectively enrolled. Ischemic core volume was automatically generated from baseline CTP, and FIV was determined manually based on follow-up DWI. Stroke-related risk factors and demographic, clinical, imaging, and procedural data were collected and assessed. Univariate and multivariate analyses were applied to identify the predictors of GIC.Of the 115 included patients (31 women and 84 men; median age, 66 years), 18 patients (15.7%) showed a GIC. The GIC group showed significantly shorter time interval from stroke onset to CTP scan and that from stroke onset to recanalization (both p0.001), but higher ischemic core volume (p0.001), hypoperfused area volume (p0.001), mismatch area volume (p = 0.006), and hypoperfusion ratio (p = 0.001) than the no-GIC group. In multivariate analysis, time interval from stroke onset to CTP scan (odds ratio [OR], 0.983; p = 0.005) and ischemic core volume (OR, 1.073; p0.001) were independently associated with the occurrence of GIC.In stroke patients achieving successful recanalization after MT, time interval from stroke onset to CTP and ischemic core volume are associated with the occurrence of GIC. To investigate the value of automated Alberta Stroke Program Early CT Score (ASPECTS)-based net water uptake (NWU) to predict tissue-level reperfusion status and 90-day functional outcomes in acute ischemic stroke (AIS) patients after reperfusion therapy.One hundred and twelve patients with AIS who received reperfusion therapy were enrolled. Psychical and functional disturbances of thyroid-associated ophthalmopathy (TAO) patients are drawing increasingly attention, despite the characterized ophthalmic symptoms. We aimed to investigate the alterations of structural complexity using fractal dimension (FD) analysis in patients with TAO. Thirty-nine TAO patients and 25 healthy controls underwent high-resolution 3.0 T structural brain magnetic resonance imaging (MRI). FD values of brain regions were calculated by Computational Anatomy Toolbox (CAT12) and compared between groups. The associations between clinical variables and FD values were further estimated. We found that TAO patients exhibited significantly decreased FD values in right caudal anterior cingulate cortex, right lingual gyrus, right pars orbitalis and right cuneus cortex (FDR corrected p 0.05). FD values of right cuneus cortex were positively correlated with visual acuity, and FD values of right caudal anterior cingulate cortex were also positively correlated with cognitive performance. Meanwhile, FD values of right lingual gyrus were found to be negatively correlated with emotional function. Our study indicated disturbed cortical complexity in brain regions corresponding to known functional deficits of vision, emotion and cognition in TAO. FD might be a potential marker for reflecting the underlying neurobiological basis of TAO.

Background: To evaluate the value of texture analysis (TA) of conventional magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) and diffusion-weighted imaging (DWI) in the differential diagnosis between sinonasal non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma (NHL) and squamous cell carcinoma (SCC).Methods: Twenty-one patients with sinonasal SCC and 15 patients with NHL were retrospectively enrolled. TAs were performed on T2-weighted image (T2WI), apparent diffusion coefficient (ADC) and contrast-enhanced T1-weighted image (T1WI). Texture parameters, including mean value, skewness, kurtosis, entropy and uniformity were obtained and compared between sinonasal SCC and NHL groups. Receiver operating characteristic (ROC) curves and logistic regression analyses were used to evaluate the diagnostic value and identify the independent TA parameters.Results: The mean value and entropy of ADC, and mean value of contrast-enhanced T1WI were significantly lower in the sinonasal NHL group than those in the SCC group (all P < 0.05). ROC analysis indicated that the entropy of ADC had the best diagnostic performance (AUC, 0.832; Sensitivity, 0.95; Specificity, 0.67; Cut-off value, 6.522). Logistic regression analysis showed that the entropy of ADC (P = 0.002, OR = 26.990) was the independent parameter for differentiating sinonasal NHL from SCC.Conclusion: TA parameters of conventional MRI and DWI, particularly the entropy value of ADC, might be useful in the differentiating diagnosis between sinonasal NHL and SCC.

To assess the prognostic value of Alberta Stroke Program Early Computed Tomography Score (ASPECTS) on post-treatment diffusion-weighted imaging (DWI) for acute ischemic stroke (AIS) patients after endovascular thrombectomy (EVT) and compare it with that of infarction volume.Ninety-eight consecutive AIS patients who underwent EVT and post-treatment DWI were retrospectively enrolled. ASPECTS and infarction volume were evaluated based on post-treatment DWI, respectively. Good clinical outcome was defined as modified Rankin Scale score of 0-2 at 90 days. Predictors of good clinical outcome were evaluated using univariate and multivariate logistic regression analysis. Prognostic value of post-treatment DWI ASPECTS and infarction volume were assessed and compared using receiver-operating-characteristic curves and the DeLong method.Favorable outcome was achieved in 62 (63.3%) patients. A strong correlation was found between post-treatment DWI ASPECTS and infarction volume (ρ = -0.847). Due to strong correlation and potential collinearity, two multivariate logistic regression models were respectively developed which included post-treatment DWI ASPECTS or infarction volume. As a result, post-treatment DWI ASPECTS (OR, 2.401; 95%CI, 1.567-3.678; p0.001) and infarction volume (OR, 0.982; 95%CI, 0.846-0.998; p = 0.002) were both independent predictors of good clinical outcome. Setting post-treatment DWI ASPECTS ≥ 6 as a cut-off value, optimal performance (AUC = 0.836; sensitivity, 87.1%; specificity, 66.7%) could be obtained in predicting good clinical outcome, which was comparable with that of infarction volume (cut-off volume, ≤ 94.87 ml; AUC = 0.821; sensitivity, 90.3%; specificity, 55.6%).Post-treatment DWI ASPECTS might be a potential surrogate of infarction volume and be effective in predicting the clinical outcome of AIS patients after EVT.• Post-treatment DWI ASPECTS correlated significantly with infarction volume. • A post-treatment DWI ASPECTS ≥ 6 best predicts good outcomes for AIS patients after EVT. • Post-treatment DWI ASPECTS has the potential in substituting infarction volume in predicting the clinical outcome of AIS patients.

Objectives: To evaluate the performance of texture analysis (TA) of diffusion kurtosis imaging (DKI) in differentiating malignant from benign sinonasal lesions, and its added value to the conventional imaging features. Methods: Fifty-eight patients with malignant and 40 patients with benign sinonasal lesions were retrospectively enrolled. Conventional CT and MRI features were reviewed. Texture parameters were obtained and compared between two groups. Multivariate logistic regression analysis was used to identify the most valuable variables. Receiver operating characteristic curves were performed to assess the differentiating performance of independent variables and their combination. Results: There were significant differences in tumor necrosis, bone erosion and soft tissue invasion between the two groups (all p < 0.05). There were significant differences in the 10th and entropy of Apparent diffusion coefficient map, the mean, 10th and entropy of D map, the mean and 90th of K map between the two groups (all p < 0.002). The bone erosion, entropy of D, and mean of K were independent variables associated with malignant tumors. Receiver operating characteristic analyses indicated that the combination of three features possessed better differentiating performance than bone erosion alone (p = 0.003). Conclusion: TA of DKI could supply incremental value to conventional imaging features for pre-operative differential diagnosis between benign and malignant sinonasal lesions. Advances in knowledge: The present study is the first to combine conventional imaging features and the TA of DKI in the differential diagnosis between benign and malignant sinonasal lesions. Our findings suggest that TA of DKI could supply incremental value to conventional imaging features.

World Health Organization classification and Masaoka-Koga stage are widely used for thymic epithelial tumors (TETs). Reduced field-of-view (rFOV) diffusion-weighed imaging (DWI) proved to improve the image quality. AIM To explore the association between haemorrhagic transformation (HT) subtypes and functional outcome in acute ischaemic stroke (AIS) patients with successful recanalization treated by endovascular thrombectomy (EVT). MATERIALS and METHODS Consecutive patients with AIS due to large-vessel occlusion in the anterior circulation, who were treated between January 2015 and June 2019 and achieved successful EVT, were enrolled in this retrospective study. HT was categorized according to the Heidelberg Bleeding Classification. Functional outcome was evaluated using the 90-day modified Rankin Scale (mRS) after stroke onset. Ordinal logistic regression analysis was performed to determine the association of HT subtypes with functional outcomes. RESULTS A total of 243 patients were included for further analysis. Among them, 121 (49.8%) had HT. Ten (4.1%) patients were classified as haemorrhagic infarction (HI) subtype 1, 61 (25.1%) as HI subtype 2, 17 (7.0%) as parenchymal haematoma (PH) subtype 1, and 33 (13.6%) as PH subtype 2. Ordinal logistic regression analysis suggested that HI subtype 2 (adjusted common OR 0.357, 95% CI: 0.192–0.667), PH1 (adjusted common OR 0.254, 95% CI: 0.093–0.696) and PH subtype 2 (adjusted common OR 0.017, 95% CI: 0.006–0.051) were significantly associated with poor functional outcomes. CONCLUSION The present study shows that HI subtype 2, PH subtype 1, and PH subtype 2 are independently associated with poor clinical outcomes in AIS patients with successful recanalization after EVT.

Besides the well-documented ophthalmic manifestations, thyroid-associated ophthalmopathy (TAO) is believed to be related to emotional and psychological abnormalities. Given the previous neuroimaging evidence, we hypothesized that TAO patients would have altered neurovascular coupling associated with clinical-psychiatric disturbances. This study was to investigate neurovascular coupling changes in TAO by combining resting-state functional magnetic resonance imaging (rs-fMRI) and arterial spin labeling (ASL) techniques. Amplitude of low-frequency fluctuation (ALFF) was calculated from rs-fMRI, and cerebral blood flow (CBF) was computed from ASL in 37 TAO patients and 21 healthy controls (HCs). Global neurovascular coupling was assessed by across-voxel CBF-ALFF correlation, and regional neurovascular coupling was evaluated by CBF/ALFF ratio. Auxiliary analyses were performed using fractional ALFF (fALFF) and regional homogeneity (ReHo) as rs-fMRI measures. Compared with HCs, TAO patients showed significantly reduced global CBF-ALFF coupling. Moreover, TAO patients exhibited decreased CBF/ALFF ratio in the left lingual gyrus (LG)/fusiform gyrus (FFG), and increased CBF/ALFF ratio in the bilateral precuneus (PCu). In TAOs, CBF/ALFF ratio in the left LG/FFG was positively correlated with visual acuity, while CBF/ALFF ratio in the bilateral PCu was negatively correlated with Montreal Cognitive Assessment score. The auxiliary analyses showed trends of reduced global neurovascular coupling (i.e., CBF-fALFF correlation and CBF-ReHo correlation), as well as significant altered regional neurovascular coupling (i.e., CBF/fALFF ratio and CBF/ReHo ratio) in several brain regions. These findings indicated that TAO patients had altered neurovascular coupling in the visual and higher-order cognitive cortices. The neurovascular decoupling might be a possible neuropathological mechanism of TAO.

To investigate the effects of gadolinium (Gd) retention of macrocyclic (gadobutrol) or linear (gadopentetate) Gd-based contrast agents (GBCAs) on neuron loss, neurological deficits, and sensory behavior in mice with or without stroke.Ninety C57BL/6 mice underwent sham (n = 36) or transient middle cerebral artery occlusion (tMCAO) (n = 54) surgery and then received intraperitoneal injections of 5.0 mmol/kg gadobutrol, 5.0 mmol/kg gadopentetate or saline (10 ml/kg/administration) per day for 3 consecutive days. The Gd concentration in the ischemic cerebrum was quantified by inductively coupled plasma mass spectrometry on Day 1 and Day 28 after the last injection (post-injection, p. i.). Neuron loss, glia activation and neurological deficits were assessed on Day 1 and 28 p. i. Sensory behavior was also assessed on Day 28 p. i.Gd concentrations were higher in the brains of tMCAO mice than in those of sham mice on Days 1 p. i. of both GBCAs (gadobutrol, p amp;lt; 0.05; gadopentetate, p amp;lt; 0.001) and 28 p. i of gadopentetate. (p amp;lt; 0.001). Sham or tMCAO mice injected with GBCAs showed no significant difference in neuron loss, glia activation, neurological deficits, brain atrophy, or hippocampus-dependent memory (all p amp;gt; 0.05). Both gadobutrol and gadopentetate induced mechanical and heat hyperalgesia in sham mice (all p amp;lt; 0.05). However, mechanical hyperalgesia but rather heat hyperalgesia was found in tMCAO mice with the highest force tested (1.0 g) and statistically significant in both paws (right and left) with gadopentetate only (p amp;lt; 0.05).Neither gadobutrol nor gadopentetate worsened neuron loss, glia activation, brain atrophy, neurological deficits, or hippocampus-dependent memory after tMCAO. However, GBCA administration induced mechanical hyperalgesia in sham and tMCAO mice although in the same level, which may be an important consideration for patients with central post-stroke pain and those who are sensitive to pain and about to receive multiple GBCA administrations.

Purpose To evaluate the value of MRI-based texture analysis of extraocular muscle (EOM) and orbital fat (OF) in monitoring and predicting the response to glucocorticoid (GC) therapy in patients with thyroid-associated ophthalmopathy (TAO). Methods Thirty-seven active and moderate-to-severe TAO patients (responders, n = 23; unresponders, n = 14) were retrospectively enrolled. MRI-based texture parameters (entropy, uniformity, skewness and kurtosis) of EOM and OF were measured before and after GC therapy, and compared between groups. Correlations between the changes of clinical activity score (CAS) and imaging parameters before and after treatment were assessed. Receiver operating characteristic curves were used to evaluate the predictive value of identified variables. Results Responsive TAOs showed significantly decreased entropy and increased uniformity at EOM and OF after GC therapy (P < 0.01), while unresponders showed no significance. Changes of entropy and uniformity at EOM and OF were significantly correlated with changes of CAS before and after treatment (P < 0.05). Responders showed significantly lower entropy and higher uniformity at EOM than unresponders before treatment (P < 0.01). Entropy and uniformity of EOM and disease duration were identified as independent predictors for responsive TAOs. Combination of all three variables demonstrated optimal efficiency (area under curve, 0.802) and sensitivity (82.6%), and disease duration alone demonstrated optimal specificity (100%) for predicting responsive TAOs. Conclusion MRI-based texture analysis can reflect histopathological heterogeneity of orbital tissues. It could be useful for monitoring and predicting the response to GC in TAO patients.

Background Intracranial atherosclerosis-related large vessel occlusion (ICAS+LVO) poses an important technical challenge for endovascular thrombectomy (EVT). Purpose To evaluate the value of D-dimer in predicting ICAS+LVO alone and in combination with other clinical and imaging predictors. Material and Methods Consecutive patients who underwent EVT at our center between January 2018 and June 2021 were retrospectively reviewed. Patients were classified to the ICAS+LVO or ICAS–LVO group according to angiographic findings. Collateral gradings were evaluated based on computed tomography angiography and categorized as follows: score 0–1 unfavorable collaterals and score 2–3 favorable collaterals. Receiver operating characteristic curve was analyzed to evaluate the predictive value of D-dimer and the combination of other predictors for ICAS+LVO. Results A total of 374 patients were enrolled, among them, 107 (28.6%) had an ICAS+LVO, while ICAS–LVO was determined in 267 (71.4%) patients. Median D-dimer levels were lower (0.36 vs. 1.18 mg/L; P Conclusion Low early plasma D-dimer levels are a significant and independent predictor of ICAS+LVO, and predictive value strengthens when in a combined model using D-dimer and collateral grading.

Background Higher baseline Alberta Stroke Program Early Computed Tomography Score (ASPECTS) was associated with a lower probability of hemorrhagic transformation in patients with acute ischemic stroke (AIS). Purpose To investigate the predictive value of cerebral blood volume (CBV)-ASPECTS of intracranial hemorrhage (ICH) in AIS treated with thrombectomy selected by computed tomographic perfusion (CTP) in an extended time window. Material and Methods A total of 91 consecutive patients with AIS with large vessel occlusion in the anterior circulation after thrombectomy in an extended time window were enrolled between January 2018 and September 2019. ICH was diagnosed according to Heidelberg Bleeding Classification. CBV-ASPECTS was assessed by evaluating each ASPECTS region for relatively low CBV value compared with the mirror region in the contralateral hemisphere. Demographic characteristics, clinical data, CBV-ASPECTS, and procedure process and results were compared between patients with ICH and those without. Results ICH occurred in 31/91 (34.1%) patients with AIS. Symptomatic ICH (sICH) was observed in 4 (4.4%) patients, while asymptomatic ICH (aICH) was seen in 27 (29.7%). Background Computed tomography texture analysis (CTTA) provides objective and quantitative information regarding tumor heterogeneity beyond visual inspection. However, no study has yet used CTTA to differentiate metastatic from non-metastatic cervical lymph node in patients with papillary thyroid cancer (PTC). Purpose To evaluate the value of texture analysis of dual-phase contrast-enhanced CT images in diagnosing cervical lymph node metastasis in patients with PTC. Material and Methods Metastatic (n = 27) and non-metastatic (n = 32) cervical lymph nodes were analyzed retrospectively. Texture analyses were performed on both arterial (A) and venous (V) phase CT images. Texture parameters, including mean gray-level intensity, skewness, kurtosis, entropy, and uniformity, were obtained and compared between groups. Receiver operating characteristic (ROC) curves analyses and multivariate logistic regression analysis were used in our study. To investigate the value of radiomics analysis of dual-energy computed tomography (DECT)–derived iodine maps for preoperative diagnosing cervical lymph nodes (LNs) metastasis in patients with papillary thyroid cancer (PTC). Two hundred and fifty-five LNs (143 non-metastatic and 112 metastatic) were enrolled and allocated to training and validation sets (7:3 ratio). Radiomics features were extracted from arterial and venous phase iodine maps, respectively. Radiomics signature was constructed based on reproducible features using the least absolute shrinkage and selection operator (LASSO) logistic regression algorithm with 10-fold cross-validation. Logistic regression modeling was employed to build models based on CT image features (model 1), radiomics signature (model 2), and the combined (model 3). A nomogram was plotted for the combined model and decision curve analysis was applied for clinical use. Diagnostic performance was assessed and compared. Internal validation was performed on an independent set containing 78 LNs. Model 3 showed optimal diagnostic performance in both training (AUC = 0.933) and validation set (AUC = 0.895), followed by model 2 (training set, AUC = 0.910; validation set, AUC = 0.847). Background Discriminating the stage of thyroid-associated ophthalmopathy (TAO) is crucial for the treatment strategy and prognosis prediction. Utility of conventional magnetic resonance imaging in the disease staging is limited. Purpose To investigate the performance of T2 mapping based on different region of interest (ROI) selection methods in the staging of TAO. Material and Methods Thirty-two patients with TAO were retrospectively enrolled. Two radiologists independently measured the T2 relaxation time (T2RT) of extraocular muscles using two different ROIs (hotspot [ROIHS]: T2RT-hot; single-slice [ROISS]: T2RT-mean, T2RT-max, T2RT-min). Independent-samples t test, Wilcoxon signed rank test, Spearman correlation analysis, receiver operating characteristic (ROC) curves analyses, multiple ROC comparisons, and intra-class correlation coefficient (ICC) were used for statistical analyses. Results No significant difference was found in the measuring time between ROIHS and ROISS methods ( P = 0.066). T2RT-mean demonstrated the highest ICC for measurement, followed by T2RT-max and T2RT-min, and T2RT-hot showed the poorest reproducibility. To explore the value of post-treatment fluid-attenuated inversion recovery vascular hyperintensity (FVH) in predicting clinical outcome in patients with acute ischemic stroke (AIS) after endovascular thrombectomy (EVT).This retrospective study reviewed data from consecutive patients with large vessel occlusion of anterior circulation between July 2017 and February 2021. Together with other variables, status of post-treatment FVH was assessed for each patient. Good outcome was defined as a 3-month modified Rankin Scale score of 0-2. Chi-square test, Fisher's exact test, independent-samples t test, multivariate logistic regression analysis, and receiver operating characteristic analysis were used as appropriate.Among 84 included patients, 48 (57.1%) patients showed post-treatment FVH. Post-treatment FVH significantly correlated with incomplete recanalization (p0.05) and low Alberta Stroke Project Early CT Changes Score on post-treatment diffusion-weighted imaging (p0.05). Higher incidence of hemorrhage transformation was observed in patients with post-treatment FVH than those without (27.1% vs. 16.7%); however, the difference did not reach significance (p = 0.259). Maximum, mean, and minimum signal intensity ratios (SIRs) of extraocular muscle (EOM) bellies were collected to construct a semiquantitative imaging model. Radiomics features from volumes of interest covering EOM bellies were extracted and three machine learning-based (logistic regression [LR]; decision tree [DT]; support vector machine [SVM]) models were built.The diagnostic performances of models were evaluated using receiver operating characteristic curve analyses, and compared using DeLong test. In this paper, we introduce a new way-below relation in T0 topological spaces based on cuts and give the concepts of SI2-continuous spaces and weakly irreducible topologies. It is proved that a space is SI2-continuous if and only if its weakly irreducible topology is completely distributive under inclusion order. Finally, we introduce the concept of 𝓓-convergence and show that a space is SI2-continuous if and only if its 𝓓-convergence with respect to the topology τSI2(X) is topological. In general, a space is SI-continuous if and only if its 𝓓-convergence with respect to the topology τSI(X) is topological.

Background Target mismatch (ischemic core, mismatch volume and mismatch ratio) in patients with acute ischemic stroke (AIS) highly relies on the automated perfusion analysis software. Purpose To evaluate the feasibility and accuracy of using the ABC/2 method to rapidly estimate the target mismatch on computed tomography perfusion (CTP) imaging in patients with AIS, using RAPID results as a reference. Material and Methods In total, 243 patients with anterior circulation AIS who underwent CTP imaging were retrospectively reviewed. Target mismatch associated perfusion parameters were derived from RAPID results and calculated using the ABC/2 method. Paired t-test was used to assess the difference of volumetric parameters between the two methods. The ability of using the ABC/2 method to predict the important cutoff volumetric metrics was also evaluated. Result There was no significant difference in the volumes of ischemic core ( P = 0.068), ischemic area ( P = 0.209), and mismatch volume ( P = 0.518) between ABC/2 and RAPID. Using RAPID results as reference, the ABC/2 method showed high accuracy for predicting perfusion parameters (70 mL and 90 mL: sensitivity=98.5% and 98.5%, specificity=100% and 100%, positive predictive value [PPV]=100% and 100%, negative predictive value [NPV]=93.8% and 92.9%; 10 mL and 15mL: sensitivity=99.6% and 99.5%, specificity=55.6% and 50.0%, PPV=96.6% and 94.8%, NPV=90.9% and 92.3%; 1.2 and 1.8: sensitivity=99.6% and 94.8%, specificity=75.0% and 96.9%, PPV=98.7% and 99.5%, NPV=90.0% and 73.8%). Conclusion The ABC/2 method may be a feasible alternative to RAPID for estimation of target mismatch parameters on CTP in patients with AIS.

To assess the diagnostic accuracy of using Alberta Stroke Program Early Computed Tomography Score (ASPECTS) on CT perfusion (CTP) map to predict a volumetric target mismatch in patients with acute ischemic stroke (AIS).Three-hundred and seven AIS patients with an onset time within 24h or unclear onset time who underwent CTP evaluation for large vessel occlusion of anterior circulation were enrolled. CTP ASPECTS was evaluated on cerebral blood flow (CBF) and time-to-maximum (Tmax) colored maps, respectively. Automated perfusion analysis software was used to calculate the volumes of ischemic core (volumeStrong correlations were found between CBF ASPECTS and volumeCTP ASPECTS might be useful in predicting target mismatch derived from automated perfusion analysis software, and assisting in patient selection for endovascular therapy.

Patients with comitant exotropia (CE) would usually develop compromised binocular vision and impaired stereoscopic depth perception, which could result in a profound decrease in quality of life. Although the deviated optic axis could be corrected surgically, the impaired stereovision and sensory eye balance may sometimes remain remnant. This study was to investigate the brain functional alterations in patients with CE before and after surgery, using resting-state functional magnetic resonance imaging (fMRI) with amplitude of low-frequency fluctuation (ALFF). Thirty-five patients with CE were recruited to undergo a preoperative fMRI scan, as well as 24 healthy controls (HCs). Twenty-four of the patients were available for rescanned fMRI one month after surgery. The ALFF method was used to evaluate the group differences of spontaneous brain activity. The correlations between ALFF values and clinical variables were analyzed in the patient group. Preoperatively, compared with HCs, 35 patients with CE showed significantly decreased ALFF values in one cluster involving bilateral calcarine sulcus, lingual gyrus and cuneus. The ALFF values in the above cluster were negatively correlated with disease duration (r = -0.379, P = 0.033). One month after surgery, 24 patients with available rescanned fMRI demonstrated increased ALFF values in one cluster located in bilateral cuneus, calcarine sulcus and lingual gyrus relative to the preoperative collection, while still reduced ALFF values in the cluster involving left calcarine sulcus and lingual gyrus compared with HCs. Our study revealed the functional changes of patients with CE in visual-associated brain areas before and after surgery. The findings may provide a new perspective for understanding the underlying pathological mechanisms of CE.

Background: Our study aimed to compare the time usage and success rate between CTA- and CTP- based assessment strategy, and to clarify the risk factors associated with CTP scan failure. Methods: Clinical and radiological data of 437 consecutive AIS patients who underwent multiphase CTA or CTP for pre-treatment evaluation were retrospectively enrolled (CTA group, n=302; CTP group, n=135). Time usage and success rate of CTA and CTP were compared using Mann-Whitney U test and Chi-Squared Test. Univariate analysis and receiver operating curve analysis were used to clarify the risk factors and their values for predicting CTP scan failure.Results: Time usage of CTP scan and reconstruction was significantly longer than that of CTA [775sec vs 263.5sec, PConclusions: CTP-based strategy showed longer time consumption and higher failure rate than CTA-based strategy. High baseline NIHSS score was significantly associated with CTP scan failure in AIS patients.
