The electrocatalytic ring-opening dihydroalkoxylation of N-aryl maleimides with alcohols under metal- and oxidant-free conditions is described.

We disclose a feasible strategy for the electrochemical dehydrogenative coupling of CS2 and amines with β-ketoesters, which leads to dithiocarbamate intermediates in the presence of bases.

The novel method for the synthesis of gem-bisarylthio enamines and α-phenylthio ketones was developed via the coupling of α-substituted vinyl azides with thiols in the presence of tetrabutylammonium iodide (TBAI) as a redox catalyst and electrolyte at room temperature. Electronic properties were crucial in the generated products. This protocol features metal- and oxidant-free materials, broad tolerance of substrates, and mild reaction conditions.

An efficient approach has been developed for the construction of quinazolin-4(3H)-ones by the selective anodic dehydrogenative oxidation/cyclization of benzylic chlorides and 2-aminobenzamides. The method features acceptor-free and metal-free dehydrogenation of amines to imines; a subsequent intermolecular addition provides the products in moderate to good yields.

Methanol plays a crucial role in organic synthesis as a green C1 source. Herein, the concise α-methoxymethylation and aminomethylation of propiophenones are achieved via electrochemical reactions with methanol as both the solvent and reactant. Methanol plays dual roles in this reaction: it is oxidized to formaldehyde (HCHO) and functions as a nucleophile. This protocol was performed under oxidant- and transition metal-free conditions.

Owing to the inert nature of the pyridine ring and high activity of iminyl radicals, the reaction between pyridine and iminyl radicals remains a significant challenge. In this paper, we report the synthesis of sulfide imidazo[1,2-a]pyridines from vinyl azides, thiophenols, and pyridines via a radical [3 + 2] cycloaddition. Promoting inert pyridine and highly active iminyl radicals to participate in this intermolecular cycloaddition process is the striking feature of this protocol. The excellent antitumor activity of the prepared sulfide imidazopyridine scaffold demonstrated the synthetic utility of the developed synthetic protocol.

Building new biological molecules is challenging. Herein, imidazo[1,2-c]thiazoles were synthesized as a new class of heterobicyclic analogs through Pd-catalyzed cascade bicyclization from isonitriles with thioamides. The bicyclic scaffolds were constructed by inserting three molecules of isonitrile into two molecules of thioamide and then cyclizing them in a one-pot procedure. In vitro antitumor studies of these new compounds were conducted by using the MTT assay, and compound 3c showed excellent inhibitory effects against HepG2 at 7.06 ± 0.68 μM.

A new method for the synthesis of multisubstituted guanidines through tandem intermolecular insertion of isonitriles with un­activated amides has been developed. In this study, isonitriles could be used not only as reaction materials but also as the source of amines.

A one-dimensional rigid, linear Ag(I) coordination polymer with pyrazine sulfonic acid, [Ag2L2 · H2O] n (L = pyrazine sulfonic acid) has been synthesized and characterized by elemental analyses, infrared spectroscopy, thermogravimetric analysis, and X-ray crystallography. The structure determination shows Ag(I) centers linked by bridging pyrazine ligands to give a double-chain structure sustained by weak Ag-O and Ag-N interactions. The sulfonate and pyrazine are all involved in hydrogen bonding interaction. The interactions combine with weak π-π stacking to play deciding roles defining the supramolecular structures. A powder X-ray diffraction study implies good phase purity. Solid-state fluorescence quenching and thermal stability are also discussed.

Two new noninterpenetrated three-dimensional chiral coordination polymers [Cu( l -cys)(H 2 O)] n ( 1 ) and [Cd( l -cys)(H 2 O)] n ( 2 ) (where H 2 cys = cysteic acid) have been synthesized and characterized using single-crystal X-ray diffraction, elemental analysis, infrared spectroscopy, and thermogravimetric analysis. In the two complexes, l -cys acts as a μ 3 -bridge for 1 and a μ 4 -bridge for 2 , respectively, to link metal centers in different modes, forming two different three-dimensional networks. The topological analysis of them shows that 1 can be simplified to a three-connected topology with the short symbol of 10 3 and the full vertex symbol of 10 5 .10 5 .10 5 while 2 a four-connected topology with the short symbol of 4 2 .6 3 .8 and the full vertex symbol of 4.6.4.6.6.8 2 , respectively.

In the mononuclear title compound, [Cu(C(12)H(9)N(2)O(3)S)(2)], the copper(II) salt of 2-(2-pyridylmethyl-eneamino)benzene-sulfonic acid, the Cu(II) atom is coordinated by one O and two N atoms from a monoanion as well as by two N atoms from another monoanion in a distorted trigonal-bipyramidal environment.

The molecule of the title compound, C4H2N2O4, is located around an inversion center and the four O atoms are in the 2,3,5,6-positions of the piperazine ring. In the crystal, bifurcated N—H...O hydrogen bonds link the molecules into a corrugated layer parallel to (101).

The title complex, [Co(C(12)H(9)N(2)O(3)S)(2)]·2H(2)O, has site symmetry 2 with the Co(II) cation located on a twofold rotation axis. Two tridentate 2-(2-pyridylmethyl-eneamino)benzene-sulfonate (paba) ligands chelate to the Co(II) cation in a distorted octa-hedral geometry. The pyridine and benzene rings in the paba ligand are oriented at a dihedral angle of 42.86 (13)°. Inter-molecular O-H⋯O and C-H⋯O hydrogen bonding is present in the crystal structure.
