1. The application of annealing in quantum cooling protocols

Abstract

Inspired by simulated annealing algorithm, we propose a quantum cooling protocol which includes an annealing process. This protocol can be universally and efficiently applied to various quantum simulators, driving the system from an arbitrary initial state to the ground state with high fidelity. We have described the cooling process based on perturbation theory, validated the advantages of bath under time-modulated Zeeman field compared to bath under static one, and provided a justification for the necessity of an annealing process when the system to be cooled is unknown. We applied tensor network methods to numerically simulate our cooling protocol, using the transverse field Ising model (TFIM) as an example to verify the effectiveness of the protocol in cooling one-dimensional systems, two-dimensional systems, and systems with quantum noise. We compared the overall performance of cooling protocols with and without the annealing process on a test set generated with random parameters $g_P$. The results indicate that the cooling protocol with annealing process can achieve both accuracy and efficiency. Our results also show that the cooling protocol's resistance to noise depends on the type of quantum noise.

2. Research on quantum compilation of neutral atom quantum computing platform

Abstract

Quantum compilation is the process of decomposing high-level quantum algorithms or arbitrary unitary operations into quantum circuits composed of a specific set of quantum gates. Neutral atom quantum computing platform is a quantum computing implementation method with high controllability and scalability, but its quantum compilation method is not mature. We systematically review the quantum compilation methods based on matrix decomposition, and propose a compilation algorithm suitable for neutral atom quantum computing, which can effectively decompose any unitary operation into a series of quantum gates suitable for the neutral atom platform, and ensure that the generated quantum circuits can run directly on the platform.

3. Measurement of surface tension coefficients of liquids based on equal thickness interference

Abstract

The surface tension coefficient is a key parameter in fluid mechanics. The conventional method to measure it is to determine the critical surface tension that causes the rupture of a liquid film. However, this method has a large error because the surface tension coefficient is very sensitive to environmental factors. In this paper, we propose a new method based on equal thickness interference to study the mathematical model of the stationary liquid surface shape and measure it by the interference technique. This method enables the accurate measurement of the liquid surface tension coefficient. The experimental results demonstrate that this method has the advantages of high accuracy, low cost, and simple instrumentation. The maximum measurement error is less than 3.1\%. Moreover, this method can be applied to measure the liquid-liquid interfacial tension, which has a good application prospect.

Abstract

In this thesis, we study a modified Markovian batch-arrival and bulk- service queue including finite states for dependent control. We first consider the stopped batch-arrival and bulk-service queue process Q∗, which is the process with the restriction of the state-dependent control. After we obtain the expression of the Q∗-resolvent, the extinction probability and the mean extinction time are explored. Then, we apply a decomposition theorem to resume the stopped queue process back to our initial queueing model, that is to find the expression of Q-resolvent. After that, the criteria for the recurrence and ergodicity are also explored, and then, the generating function of equilibrium distribution is obtained. Additionally, the Laplace transform of the mean queue length is presented. The hitting time behaviors including the hitting probability and the hitting time distribution are also established. Furthermore, the busy period distribution is also obtained by the expression of Laplace transform. To conclude the discussion of the queue properties, a special case that m = 3 for our queueing model is discussed. Furthermore, we consider the decay parameter and decay properties of our initial queue process. First of all, similarly we consider the case of the stopped queue process Q∗. Based on this q-matrix, the exact value of the decay parameter λC is obtained theoretically. Then, we apply this result back to our initial queue model and find the decay parameter of our initial queueing model. More specifically, we prove that the decay parameter can be expressed accurately. After that, under the assumption of transient Q, the criteria for λC -recurrence are established. For λC -positive recurrent examples, the generating function of the λC-invariant measure and vector are explored. Finally, a simple example is provided to end this thesis.

A cross-cultural study used the employee involvement theory and showed that autonomy has positive and negative relationships to job stress in Chinese and British manufacturing firms, respectively. Autonomy has positive effect on productivity when there is lower work demand. Relationships between climate for autonomy, work demands climate, employee stress and organizational productivity were examined.

Abstract

Cross-cultural researchers have questioned the extent to which European–American management practices can be transported to major markets in Asia, such as the People's Republic of China. Applying employee involvement theory, we examined the relationships between climate for autonomy, work demands climate, employee stress and organizational productivity in a cross-national study of 51 UK and 104 Chinese manufacturing organizations. We predicted and found that climate for autonomy was positively and negatively related to stress in the Chinese and UK contexts, respectively. The interaction of climate for autonomy and work demands climate was significant: climate for autonomy was positively related to organizational productivity only when work demands climate was low. 20. HMPL-306 in relapsed or refractory IDH1- and/or IDH2-mutated acute myeloid leukemia: A phase 1 study.

Abstract

Background: HMPL-306 has equally high inhibitory activity against mutated isocitrate dehydrogenases 1 and 2 (mIDH1/2)., Methods: This first-in-human, phase 1 dose-escalation/dose-expansion study (this study was registered at ClinicalTrials.gov: NCT04272957) enrolled patients with relapsed/refractory (R/R) acute myeloid leukemia (AML) harboring mIDH1 and/or mIDH2. Patients received 25-250 mg of HMPL-306 orally once daily (QD) in a 28-day treatment cycle. Primary objectives were safety, tolerability, and recommended phase 2 dose (RP2D), and the secondary objective was preliminary efficacy., Findings: A total of 76 patients were enrolled. No dose-limiting toxicities were observed, and the maximum tolerated dose was not reached. RP2D was 250 mg QD for cycle 1 and 150 mg QD from cycle 2 onward. Common (≥10%) grade ≥3 treatment-related adverse events included platelet count decreased, anemia, neutrophil count decreased, and white blood cell count decreased. In patients who received 150 mg, 250 mg, or the RP2D (N = 59), rates of complete remission (CR)+CR with partial hematologic recovery were 34.6% and 36.4% in the mIDH1 (n = 26) and mIDH2 (n = 33) subgroups, respectively, and among these, CR with minimal residual disease negative rates were 77.8% and 50.0%, respectively. The median overall survival was 13.4 months in patients with mIDH1 and 13.1 months in patients with mIDH2., Conclusions: HMPL-306 showed an acceptable safety profile and promising preliminary efficacy.
