The doctoral thesis Gastronomy as a part of life style in the Czech national print media in the period between the wars in Czechoslovak Republic presents the results of eight years long research of food journalism in the Czech press between 1918 and 1938. This period called First Republic is often seen, due the positive sentiment, as a modern, democratic and prosperous state. The reality is a different. This text presents just a little part of picture of life style during First Republic which is gastronomy. That mirrors the economic and social level of the society. This text reflects critically the historical facts. The assumption, that print media pay regularly attention to the gastronomy as an integral part of life is important idea of this research. The content analysis proofs, that food journalism had its own section in the analyzed daily print, although media didn't used this kind of terminology. Five national newspapers (Lidové noviny, Národní politika, České slovo, Právo lidu and Venkov) were issued in the period 1918-1938 and newspapers Rudé právo established 1920 are included in the analysis. The popularity of the First Czechoslovak Republic in today's press is evident. The rebirth of Czech cuisine is apparent in an inland gastronomy in the last five or seven years. Both chefs and food writers refer to the First Czechoslovak Republic gastronomy more and more frequently and speak highly of its quality and taste. There is no omnibus covering alimentation in Czechoslovakia during the years 1918 - 1938. Pieces of information can be found in memoires, in books dealing with the history of everyday life, in folklore studies and last, but not least, in historical press. An outline of the inland gastronomy in 1918 - 1938 was made in my diploma thesis Gastronomy in the First Czechoslovak Republic press (2012). Using a content analysis method the four biggest newspapers and eight women's journals published between 1918 - 1938 on Czechoslovak territory were examined. Articles were selected on the basis of important religious holidays and traditions (Christmas, harvest etc.) in the years outstanding for the First Republic development (1918, 1919, 1921, 1924, 1929, 1933, 1935 a 1938). This thesis uses analytical tools of a qualitative nature, namely historical, content and linguistic analysis, to observe the elements, examples and manner of propaganda and its projection into culinary recipes in the Květy magazine between 1951 and 1989. It describes not only the transformation of the magazine's content and the related increase in the proportion of media content devoted to culinary recipes and related topics, but also the development of the recipes themselves, taking into account the use of ingredients. The thesis further treats findings such as the increasing share of carnivore recipes and places them in the economic and political context. It also focuses on the ways of regime propaganda projection into media content, which was manifested, for example, in recipes devoted to the cuisines of so-called "friendly" countries. Further, it focuses on the methods of how certain foods were promoted in the analysed period. It explains why such content disappears in times of prosperity and reappears in times of scarcity. This diploma thesis deals with food blogs as a current phenomenon. The theoretical part first brings a look at the historical context and development that preceded the existence of blogs. It focuses on communication, media and the Internet. It also offers definitions of these key and related terms and theoretical background that are needed to understand the context. Subsequently, the work discusses journalism and the position of blogs in this field. It continues with a detailed elaboration of the topic of blogs. It analyzes their historical context in our country and in the world, defines concepts, distinguishes types of blogs, draws attention to the pitfalls of blogging, deals with etiquette and laws, presents current trends and surveys, addresses authors - bloggers and their motivation, the position of bloggers towards journalists, the expected future and influencers. The following part deals with the audience, the audience of the blogosphere and methods of its research. The diploma thesis deals with the characteristics of the discourse of selected Czech food blogs. On the one hand the food blogs, which are considered here as part of the media content, have common features with other culinary discourses, on the other hand they have their specifics, which are given mainly by their multimodal nature. The theoretical part therefore introduces the culinary discourse, as well as the phenomenon of blogging, which was made possible with the advent of the Internet and web services. The thesis then presents a brief food blogs history and previous foreign research, that dealt with the characteristics of the food blogs language. Qualitative analysis of discourse, which was used for the food blogs analysis in the research part of the thesis, focuses on common language and formal features of food blogs, discourses of individual authors and the most common topics that food blogs contain. The research material was selected based on the results of the last year of the Food blog roku competition. These are contributions from three popular Czech food blogs, which were published on blogs in the first half of 2019. These contributions were subjected to an in-depth analysis, the results of which are subsequently presented in the thesis.

This diploma thesis discusses Instagram as a means for spreading trends in gastronomy with a focus on gastronomy and related trends in the field specifically from the Czech Republic. The author tries to map the influences that the online environment can have on their formation, especially the social network Instagram. After a thorough acquaintance with the environment of social networks, the social network Instagram, its influence on the spread of experiences, trends and the media environment in general, is described in more detail. The author seeks to clarify whether what is happening on this network can guide the direction of what is popular in the gastronomic environment, understand the role that well-watched creators from Instragram play in society and what it means for ordinary users to share food experiences. "Influential" users from the gastronomic sphere on Czech Instagram and their further connection with the media environment are presented. The aim of the diploma thesis Healthy Lifestyle Presentation Online on the Coffee Drinking Examples to demonstrate the presentation of the healthy lifestyle on the example of the coffee consumption and show the media perception. The coffee consumption is considered as a part of the popular culture which makes it an ideal universal research item. The thesis provided the basic theoretical frame for the research compound of two parts which are trying to answer two research questions - how does the online platform present the coffee consumption - whether coffee has a positive or negative impact on health. The second research question was to investigate, whether this media presentation has the impact on its final consumers. For the first research part, the quantitative content analysis was used. It was revealed that 62 % of analyzed articles was in favor of health benefits of the coffee, so the majority opinion presented on the internet is that coffee has got a beneficial impact on human health. The second part of the research was realized as the two-steps qualitative experiment compound of two parts of demi-structured survey. Bachelor thesis follows expansion of gastornomy and culinary trend in modern society and its way of using by mass media. This work does not look for answers to why media use new trends in proces of creation of new media content, nevertheless this work tries to create a picture of how media use these trends and in which way. Following work focused on the presentation of gastronomy in czech media. Published research provides comparation of representation of gastronomy in several TV shows by using content analysis. This research discovers actual share of act of cooking and other examples of gastronomy. One of the goals of this work is to discover how media use gastronomy topic and also for which purpose we, as a spectators, consume their content. One of the main ideas behind this research is strong position of entertainment in media and its influence of rating numbers. Veronika Ernygrová Bakalářská práce Adaptace zahraničních cookign show v ČR 2017 Anotace (abstrakt) Bakalářská práce Adaptace zahraničních cooking show v ČR se zabývá především rozdíly provedení licencovaných televizních formátů kulinářských pořadů. Práce začíná vysvětlením pojmu televizní formát a reality TV. Pokračuje kategorizací jednotlivých subžánrů reality TV a poté i subžánrů cooking show. Rozdíly při přejímání licencovaných formátů jsou v práci ukázány na pořadech Česko vaří s Pohlreichem: ŽIVĚ, Ano, šéfe!, MasterChef Česko a Prostřeno. Znalost jednotlivých formátů u diváků je zjišťována v dotazníkovém šetření.

(abstrakt) Cílem bakalářské práce Mediální reflexe současných trendů ve stravování je popsání mediálního obrazu čtyř stravovacích stylů (veganství, vitariánství, paleo diety a bezlepkové diety) na příkladu sedmi online médií (iDNES.cz, Novinky.cz, Blesk.cz, Aktuálně.cz, Deník.cz, Lidovky.cz a IHNED.cz), a to v období od května 2014 do května 2016. Výzkum proběhl použitím metod kvantitativní obsahové analýzy a kvalitativní obsahové analýzy. Kvantitativní analýza odpovídá na otázky týkající se tonality mediálních obsahů, komunikace témat v čase a podle médií a tematického zařazení textů i konkrétních trendů ve stravování. Tato analýza je doplněna kvalitativní metodou, která podrobněji popisuje mediální reflexi vybraných trendů ve stravování.

The main research question of this thesis deals with identity of foodbloggers, constructed through the content posted on their foodblogs. This work shows through research of eight foodblogs what forms of identity these foodblogs take. The foodbloggers are treated as members of the foodie community in this thesis, because their blogs reflect its values, such as emphasis on the element of sharing, food quality, authenticity and story of the food and its serving. Foodbloggers identity, reflected on their blogs, has been studied mainly in terms of self-presentation, narrative strategies and approaches to sharing their privacy with the blogs readers. These three aspects are constantly negotiated in every interaction between bloggers and readers of their blogs. This negotiation determines the final form of foodblogs. Narrative strategies of these analyzed foodblogs for example take the form of family atmosphere and cooking for the family, self-realization through cooking and blogging, making friendships, minimalist style without a personal narrative, a friend with sharing conjoint interests or invitation to the blogger's personal life. Furthermore, the identity was examined through the questions whether and how the blog authors think about themselves as (food)bloggers.

This diploma thesis deals with women's magazines in the era of the First Republic and examines how these magazines have seen their readers. The theoretical part brings information about the context of the birth of the Czechoslovak Republic, the economic and social situation and the position of women in the society of Czechoslovakia. It also focuses on the structure of the press and specific periodicals that were published during the First Republic. It also deals with the political and independent press, women's magazines and the status of female journalists. Practical part of the thesis brings quantitative research. In this part, there are summarized research questions, methodology, research samples and the results of the quantitative content analysis. It includes, in particular, a description of the contents of magazines and the occurrence of female themes in individual selected papers, which were intended for bourgeois, workers and religious women living in the countryside.

The thesis describes the communication of the Škoda Plzeň brand between 1918 and 1945. During this period, Škoda was the largest industrial enterprise in Czechoslovakia and its products were equal to those offered by foreign competitors. The thesis covers the company's history from its foundation by Emil Škoda in 1869 up till 1945. This Bachelor's thesis also mentions the biggest personalities of the firm: Emil Škoda and Karel Loevenstein, the pioneer of modern management and promotional methods at the company. Furthermore, the thesis follows the Škoda company in the context of the society from the end of the First World War up till the beginning of World War II. The largest part of the thesis is a section that covers the company's communication, promotion and marketing strategies, especially during the first Czechoslovak Republic, because this period was - in terms not only of the progress of promotion - the most fruitful period for the company. The master thesis deals with the development and display of advertisement for medicine and health- related products and services in Czech women's magazines. We compare here two periods - The First Czechoslovak Republic and present. It focuses primarily on these following questions: Does the display of health-related products have changed? Do we still advertise products of the similar character? Has the ideal of heath changed and things which were believed healthy in the past, are not considered healthy anymore? Is the difference related to historical events or rather related to the current state of society and its preferences? The main titles for analysis were Eva: A journal of modern women from the 1930s, which was published by Melantrich and current lifestyle magazine Elle, which is published by Hubert Burda Media. The theoretical part summarizes current basic knowledge about press, advertising, healthcare. In the practical part are more closely introduced the research methods - content and image analysis and also the process of analysis and the comparison by itself. An integral part of the thesis is the attached advertisements, on which the analysis was based, and which serve for better illustration of the above-mentioned phenomena. The present thesis deals with the contemporary media image of Škoda Favorit vehicle. The study is based on the journals of that time. The theoretical part is devoted to the historical context, including economic situation and description of media functions, which changed together with political regime. Furthermore, it put us in touch with history of Škoda company, closer also with developing and selling of Škoda Favorit and with the personality of Ing. Petr Hrdlička, CSc., who was in charge of the vehicle development. The second part deals with analysis of the media articles connected to the topic. Work closer elaborates events, which are thematically important, it means the performance of the vehicle in Brno expo, the start of selling the car, the completion of car bodywork development building in Mladá Boleslav, the international performance on Amsterdam motor show, the departure of Ing. Petr Hrdlička, CSc., the joining of the car company with Volkswagen concern, the facelift of the car and the end of the production of Škoda Favorit basic type.

The bachelor thesis looks into mediaimage of the Pilsner Urquell brand in the Czech land during various periods of time; namely in the current democratic Czech Republic in the contrast of the socialist era in years 1965-1989. In the first part the thesis explains the socialist era and the functioning of media in the past including the historic overview of the brand Pilsner Urquell. The second part charts the media interest of the brand Pilsner Urquell, which it examines through the brand-related content analysis in selected national and regional newspapers. In the conclusion the mediaimages which have been detected through the analysis are being compared.

The thesis deals with the Czech food blogosphere and its development. It describes food studies and theoretical disciplines which had participated on the development. It presents current trends of online gastronomy. It defines blogs with the short note of the Web 2.0, describes their history. Also mentions the authors of the blogs as online influencers who might influence own readers and their opinions. It is followed by the history of foreign and Czech food blogs with their main representatives. Commercial possibility of blog and professionalism of bloggers is also mentioned. Part of the thesis presents the external and internal motivations to write blog. Shortly, the thesis describes the critism of food blogs and also the plagiarism issues. The thesis presents the future of blogging as well. The conducted qualitative research is based on six semi-structured interviews with food bloggers and deals with their opinions of the Czech food blogosphere and creating and maintaining the blogs. It researches their motivation to write and tries to find out the positive and negative aspect of blogging and presumed development of Czech food blogs.

This thesis is describing a current media phenomenon of gastronomy and healthy eating habits. This thesis describes the eating habits before and after the year 1989. It deals also with the global tendencies, including for example globalization, technological progress and prosperity. It also summarizes major gastro trends in the Czech Republic. Next part of the thesis is focused on this phenomenon in the field of media. A special attention is paid to TV because of its biggest potential of influence. Closer attention is paid to well-known media gastronomic celebrities, who are supposed to have a major influence on shopping customs and eating habits of the society. This thesis includes a questionnaire survey about the public awareness of the well-known personalities and the quantitative analysis of the daily newspaper.

The aim of the thesis is to create the media image of the StarDance... Když hvězdy tančí show in printed media, on the internet and on Česká televize and analyze its impact on the general public. The StarDance show is a global TV franchise broadcast in more than thirty countries around the world. It originated in the United Kingdom as Strictly Come Dancing. Česká televize bought the license and broadcast the first season in 2006. The thesis compares the Czech version of the show with the original British version as well as the Polish one, drawing attention to the differences in the number of episodes and couples, in the way the competition is judged etc. StarDance is an entertaining dance show which follows the competition of couples composed of a celebrity and a professional dancer. The dances which the couples practice are mostly ballroom dances usually taught in dance classes for general public. The media image is closely connected to the public ballroom classes. Its main purpose is to examine whether StarDance has raised awareness of social dance and helped arouse interest in dance classes. Czech language style of television advertising of the new millenium on the example of the T-Mobile's media campaign This bachelor thesis deals with the contemporary language style of Czech advertising on the example of brand communication/ advertising campaign of T-Mobile. The work is divided into two parts: theoretical and practical. The theoretical block introduces the context of advertising and shows the characteristics of advertising messages and language of advertising discourse. The focus is on the practical part which analyzes the advertising media campaign of T-Mobile and other operators published in the television from January 2012 to May 2013. The work observes the typical advertising characteristic of T-Mobile and deals with comparison of communication of T-Mobile with other operators.

The objective of this Bachelor's thesis is to primarily establish whether the Horrible Histories series is suitable for children aged 8+ as recommended by the authors. Furthermore, I focus on the influence and impact that the series may have on child viewers; I am interested in the educational benefit of the series and I reflect on the position of the Horrible Histories as an entertaining educational programme. In the theoretical section of my thesis I focus on the characteristics of ČT :D, the Czech Television channel designed for children as well as on the book and film series called Horrible Histories. I also mention the theme of the effect of television on child viewers. Main emphasis is put on the empirical part of my thesis. 50 children aged 8-12 years were enrolled in the survey. I have also collected opinions of teachers and parents of the children of the age under scrutiny, which should confirm or negate the results of my research. The results show that the programme is suitable for the minimum age of 10 years. In order to comprehend the context and get the maximum benefit from the programme, the ideal age is 12 years. Bachelor thesis Analysis of domestic gastronomic periodicals after year 2000 is focused on development of the most read periodicals in Czech republic from gastronomy sphere. Main goal was to find out, which outside effects are influencing them the most and how. Also if all of the effects influenced all of the titles the same way. The anticipated outside effects are financial crisis of 2008, possibility of importing products, famous gastronomy people and growing interest in healthy lifestyle. Content analysis was used for the research, because it is systematic, it is possible to apply it on all of the periodicals and it provides clear results. First the paper researches each of the titles individually and after that compares them between each other. In the end some of the hypothesis proved right, mainly hypothesis about advertising growth and presence of the exotic recipes. Recipes focused on health in Apetit and Gurmet proved development of science fields. Hypothesis connected to famous and important people of gastronomy was found not to be correct. Periodicals did not react to the same influences the same way, but all of their reactions are noticeable and provable.

In August 2013 a new television channel called ČT:D was launched in the Czech Republic - a public service children's channel. In this thesis I introduce ČT:D and put it in contrast with the commercial channels. The thesis includes a summary of children's television channels which compete with ČT:D during the research period, as well as an overview of public service television channels which broadcast in European countries, focusing on German KiKA and British CBBC and CBeebies. As part of this thesis a research was carried out utilizing in-depth interviews to examine preschool children's parents' opinions on the new broadcast. Especially interesting and valuable are the interviews with a preschool teacher and a special needs educator, who looks after disabled children on a daily basis. The research was conducted in three stages and thus records the parents' expectations, their first impressions and evalution of the specific shows, as well as of the channel overall. The bachelor thesis "The Analysis of the Palach Week in 1989 in Selected Media" deals with the presentation of (presents) incidents which happened during the Palach Week on from the 15th to the 21st of January 1989 in the official media and their unofficial alternatives. The aim of this work is to clarify, how truthful or misleading was information in the largest media in the context of real historical events in the totalitarian establishment of the Czechoslovak Socialist Republic. The theme is based on an act of Jan Palach in 1969, which has been reminded twenty years later by manifestations of civil initiatives calling for democratization of the regime. The work researches news reports and articles in The Czechoslovak Television, The Czechoslovak Radio, Radio Free Europe, BBC, Voice of America, Prague's Evening newspaper (Večerní Praha) and Lidové noviny. By using the qualitative content and frequency analysis, it compares the information given to the people by the normalization media controlled by the Communist Party of Czechoslovakia and the independent samizdat titles.

The Bachelor thesis on "Media image of the wedding of Prince William and Kate Middleton in the chosen Czech dailies" is aimed at finding out how the royal wedding was presented to the readers of the three most read Czech daily newspapers, which are Blesk, Mladá fronta DNES and Právo, the further description of the selected Czech newspapers is also the part of the thesis together with the brief profile of the Czech mass media background. As the elaborated part of the wedding was taken the period before the wedding ceremony (15. - 29. April 2011) and two weeks after the wedding (30. April - 14. May 2011). The analysis itself, which is based on combination of quantitative and qualitative methods, precedes the theoretical introduction to the basic field terminology which is connected with the content of the thesis and brief account of the details about the royal wedding, such as biographical facts about the fiancé/newly-weds, mass media view on the wedding arrangements and the wedding day. The observed mass media view is then summarized into constituent parts after each observed sequence that is subsequently concluded in the end of the thesis.

The aim of the thesis "The media image of farmers' markets" is to describe the development of the media image of Prague farmers' markets, as presented by MF DNES in 2010 and the first half of 2011. The research was carried out using a combination of quantitative and qualitative analysis and of a survey among the market shoppers. The result is a comparison of the three analyzed periods and focuses on an evaluation of the phenomenon of farmers' markets and presentation of the problems that accompanied them. The analysis showed that the media image in 2010 was uncritical. Articles about farmers' markets were distinctly favorable, showing only positive feedback. Markets were also associated with policies of the respective Prague districts, which were given credit for establishing them. Although the daily began to report on problems of the markets in the first half of 2011, survey among the shoppers showed that negative messages did not affected their shopping behavior and confidence in markets.

The bachelor thesis aims to introduce the reader to the difference between Czech and German journalism and the manner of informing about sport events during the eleventh Olympic Games in Berlin in 1936. These Olympic Games were the first games in their modern history used for the purposes of propaganda. The thesis compares three significant Czech periodicals (Lidové noviny, České slovo and Venkov), with the German ones - Fehrbelliner Zeitung, Schwedter Tageblatt, Prager Tagblatt, and Deutsch-chinesische Nachrichten in the time period of 31st July 1936 to 17th August 1936. Emphasis is placed on the Czech titles, illustrating journalism coming from a democratic environment. Different approach to journalism in Czechoslovakia and Third Reich is examined using description and comparison of selected articles, always related to the same event or topic.
