Abstract Aim To examine the status quo and influencing factors of sleep quality and work engagement of nurses participating in COVID‐19 during the post‐epidemic era and to study the relationship between them. Design We conducted a cross‐sectional survey and correlational and predictive logic to determine the association between sleep quality and work engagement among nurses in Shanghai during the post‐epidemic era. Methods This design involved 1060 frontline nurses in Shanghai. The Pittsburgh Sleep Quality Index questionnaire and the Utrecht Work Engagement Scale‐9 scales were used for data collection. Results This study found that the sleep quality of frontline nurses was impaired and the nurses with poor sleep accounted for 48.20% during the post‐epidemic era. The work engagement of frontline nurses was at the medium level. Factors affecting nurses' sleep quality were the number of nurse night shifts, family support and nurse health. The factors affecting the nurse work engagement were monthly income, profession title, family support and self‐health status. There was a positive correlation between nurses' sleep quality and work engagement.

This was a non‐blinded, single‐centre, randomized, controlled clinical trial that compared the effectiveness of direct observation of procedural skills (DOPSs)with traditional assessment methods in pressure injury (PI) care skills. The study population included 82 nursing professionals randomly assigned to the study group (n = 41) and the control group (n = 41). Both groups of nurses underwent a 6‐month training in PI care skills and were subsequently evaluated. The main outcome variables were the PI skill operation scores and theoretical scores. Secondary outcome variables included satisfaction and critical thinking abilities. Independent sample t‐tests and chi‐square tests were used to assess differences between the two groups of nurses. The results showed no statistically significant difference in PI skill operation scores between the two groups of nurses (p > 0.05). When comparing the PI theoretical scores, the study group scored higher than the control group, and this difference was statistically significant (p < 0.05). In terms of satisfaction assessment, the study group and the control group showed differences in improving self‐directed learning, enhancing communication skills with patients, improving learning outcomes and increasing flexibility in clinical application (p < 0.05). When comparing critical thinking abilities between the two groups of nurses, there was no statistically significant difference at the beginning of the training, but after 3 months following the training, there was a statistically significant difference between the two groups (p < 0.01).The results indicated that the DOPS was effective in improving PI theoretical scores, increasing nurse satisfaction with the training and enhancing critical thinking abilities among nurses. Background: Delirium is one of the most common complications in critically ill children. Once delirium occurs, it will cause physical and psychological distress in children and increase the length of their ICU stay and hospitalization costs. Understanding the risk factors for delirium in critically ill children can help develop targeted nursing interventions to reduce the incidence of delirium. Aims: To investigate the incidence and the risk factors of delirium in the paediatric intensive care unit (PICU). Study design: We performed a prospective observational study in critically ill patients in the PICU between February and July 2020. Delirium was diagnosed by the Cornell Assessment of Paediatric Delirium (CAPD) and the Richmond Agitation Sedation Scale and analysed via univariate analysis and multivariate logistic regression to determine the independent risk factors of delirium in critically ill children. Results: The study enrolled 315 patients ranging in age from 1–202 (65.3–54.3) months, with 56.2% (n = 177) being male. The incidence of delirium was 29.2% (n = 92) according to CAPD criteria. Among them, 33 cases (35.9%) were of hyperactive delirium, 16 cases (17.4%) were of hypoactive delirium, and 43 cases (46.7%) were of mixed delirium. By using stepwise logistic regression, the independent risk factors of delirium included mechanical ventilation (odds ratio [OR], 11.470; 95% confidence interval [CI], 4.283–30.721), nervous system disease (OR, 5.596; 95%CI, 2.445 to 12.809), developmental delay (OR, 5.157; 95% CI, 1.990–13.363), benzodiazepine (OR, 3.359; 95% CI 1.278–8.832), number of catheters (OR, 1.918; 95% CI, 1.425 to 2.582), and age (OR, 0.985; 95% confidence interval CI, 0.976–0.993). Conclusions: Delirium is a common complication in the PICU. The independent risk factors include mechanical ventilation, nervous system disease, developmental delay, benzodiazepines, higher number of catheters, and younger age. This study may help develop intervention strategies to reduce the incidence of delirium in critically ill children by targeting modifiable risk factors. Relevance to Clinical Practice: Recommendations for practice include paying attention to high‐risk children in the ICU who are prone to delirium, removing influencing factors as soon as possible, and providing targeted nursing interventions. 2 nanofibers and nanotubes were synthesized by electrospinning method. Magnetization measurement indicates that the 2 nanofibers and nanotubes annealed in air at 500°C exhibit the room-temperature ferromagnetism and the ferromagnetism of nanotubes is stronger than the nanofibers. Selected area electron diffraction, X-ray diffraction and Raman measurements show that all the samples possess a typical rutile structure and no other impurity phases are observed. The results of the Raman spectra also indicate that there are lots of defects existing in the fabricated samples. The observed room-temperature ferromagnetism in 2 nanofibers and nanotubes possibly originates from oxygen vacancies. The field cooled (FC) and zero-field-cooled (ZFC) magnetization curves indicate that the Curie temperature TC is above 300 K. SnO2 nanofibers and nanotubes were synthesized the electrospinning method. The observed room-temperature ferromagnetism originates from surface defects. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

A decomposed method of containership stowage plan in full route is put forward, which is selection of bays and sorting of containers in bays. As space is limited, the main focus is how to sort the containers of different weights belonging to the same port in the bay. Optimization model is established based on the objective functions of minimizing the metacentric height and heel moment, and the sort of containers of different weights is regarded as assignment problem, and tabu search algorithm is used to solve this problem. Containership stowage plan problem is an NP-hard problem. The problem is decomposed into two sub-problems, namely, pre-stowage plan and arranging containers of bays in order to reduce the computational complexity. Firstly, pre-stowage problem is regarded as packing problem, ship-bays on the board of vessel are regarded as bins, and the number of cells at each bay is taken as capacities of bins, containers with different characteristics (homogeneous containers group) are treated as items packed. At this stage, there are two objective functions: one is minimizing the number of bays packed by containers and the other is minimizing the number of rehandles. Secondly, containers assigned to each bays at first stage are allocated to special slot, and the objective functions are to minimize the metacentric height, heel and rehandles. The taboo search heuristics algorithm is used to solve the sub-problem. The main focus is on the first sub-problem. A practical case certifies the feasibility of the model and the algorithm.
