3. Probing the structural evolution along the fission path in the superheavy nucleus $^{256}$Sg

Abstract

The evolution of structure property along the fission path in the superheavy nucleus $^{256}$Sg is predicted through the multi-dimensional potential-energy(or Routhian)-surface calculations,in which the phenomenological deformed Woods-Saxon potential is adopted. Calculated nuclear deformations and fission barriers for $^{256}_{106}$Sg$_{150}$ and its neighbors, e.g., $^{258,260}$Sg, $^{254}$Rf and $^{252}$No are presented and compared with other theoretical results. A series of energy maps and curves are provided and used to evaluate the corresponding shape-instability properties, especially in the directions of triaxial $\gamma$ and different hexadecapole deformations (e.g., $\alpha_{40}$, $\alpha_{42}$ and $\alpha_{44}$). It is found that the triaxial deformation may help the nucleus bypass the first fission-barrier of the axial case. After the first minimum in the nuclear energy surface, the fission pathway of the nucleus can be affected by $\gamma$ and hexadecapole deformation degrees of freedom. 4. Uncertainty evaluation and correlation analysis of single-particle energies in phenomenological nuclear mean field: An investigation of propagating uncertainties for independent model parameters

Abstract

Based on Monte Carlo approach and conventional error analysis theory, taking the heaviest doubly magic nucleus $^{208}$Pb as an example, we firstly evaluate the propagated uncertainties of universal potential parameters for three typical types of single-particle energies in the phenomenological Woods-Saxon mean field. Accepting the Woods-Saxon modeling with uncorrelated model parameters, we find that the standard deviations of single-particle energies obtained by the Monte Carlo simulation and the error propagation rules are in good agreement with each other. It seems that the energy uncertaintis of the single-particle levels regularly evoluate with some quantum numbers to a large extent for the given parameter uncertainties. Further, the correlation properties of the single-particle levels within the domain of input parameter uncertainties are analyzed using the method of statistical analysis, e.g., with the aid of Pearson correlation coefficients. It is found that the positive, negative or unrelated relationship may appear between two selected single-particle levels, which will be very helpful for evaluating the theoretical uncertainty related to the single-particle levels (e.g., $K$ isomer) in nuclear structural calculations., Comment: 15 pages, 10 figures, accepted by Nuclear Science Techniques

23. Geniposide alleviates heart failure with preserved ejection fraction in mice by regulating cardiac oxidative stress via MMP2/SIRT1/GSK3β pathway

Abstract

Heart failure with preserved ejection fraction (HFpEF) is a complex clinical syndrome with cardiac dysfunction, fluid retention and reduced exercise tolerance as the main manifestations. Current treatment of HFpEF is using combined medications of related comorbidities, there is an urgent need for a modest drug to treat HFpEF. Geniposide (GE), an iridoid glycoside extracted from Gardenia Jasminoides, has shown significant efficacy in the treatment of cardiovascular, digestive and central nervous system disorders. In this study we investigated the therapeutic effects of GE on HFpEF experimental models in vivo and in vitro. HFpEF was induced in mice by feeding with HFD and L-NAME (0.5 g/L) in drinking water for 8 weeks, meanwhile the mice were treated with GE (25, 50 mg/kg) every other day. Cardiac echocardiography and exhaustive exercise were performed, blood pressure was measured at the end of treatment, and heart tissue specimens were collected after the mice were euthanized. We showed that GE administration significantly ameliorated cardiac oxidative stress, inflammation, apoptosis, fibrosis and metabolic disturbances in the hearts of HFpEF mice. We demonstrated that GE promoted the transcriptional activation of Nrf2 by targeting MMP2 to affect upstream SIRT1 and downstream GSK3β, which in turn alleviated the oxidative stress in the hearts of HFpEF mice. In H9c2 cells and HL-1 cells, we showed that treatment with GE (1 μM) significantly alleviated H2O2-induced oxidative stress through the MMP2/SIRT1/GSK3β pathway. In summary, GE regulates cardiac oxidative stress via MMP2/SIRT1/GSK3β pathway and reduces cardiac inflammation, apoptosis, fibrosis and metabolic disorders as well as cardiac dysfunction in HFpEF.

Abstract

Tianfu peanut series represents a prominent category in China and recognized as the primary cultivar within the peanut-producing region of Sichuan Basin. To comprehend the phylogeny of Tianfu peanut varieties and the evolution of key agronomic and economic traits, we conducted an analysis on the pedigree relationship and evolutionary trends of 37 main Tianfu peanut varieties, focusing on 14 essential agronomic and economic characteristics. Our findings revealed that these 37 varieties originated from 55 nuclear ancestor parents and 15 cytoplasmic ancestor parents, predominatly including Luojiangjiwo, Fuhuasheng, and Xiongyue 1. Among the 52 related direct parents predominately comprising bred varieties and intermediate materials, 34 were derived from Sichuan Basin, accounting for approximately 65.38% of all parentage combinations. Notably, variety improvement predominantly occurred through crossbreeding techniques, with "bred variety x intermediate materials" combinations representing the highest proportion at 40.63%. While there were no significant quality attributes, pod yield significantly increased due to breeding efforts; additionally, a few oleic acid and high oil varieties were successfully developed. Moving forward, our focus lies in transforming general common oleic acid varieties into specialized high oleic acid variants suitable for edible oil production or processing while preserving the traditional characteristics associated with medium-small seed size typical to Tianfu peanuts -- thus meeting diverse demands for superior-quality Tianfu peanut cultivars in this new era. Abstract

Over the years, numerous evidences have demonstrated that microbes living in the human body are closely related to human life activities and human diseases. However, traditional biological experiments are time-consuming and expensive, so it has become a research topic in bioinformatics to predict potential microbe-disease associations by adopting computational methods. In this study, a novel calculative method called BPNNHMDA is proposed to identify potential microbe-disease associations. In BPNNHMDA, a novel neural network model is first designed to infer potential microbe-disease associations, its input signal is a matrix of known microbe-disease associations, and its output signal is matrix of potential microbe-disease associations probabilities. And moreover, in the novel neural network model, a new activation function is designed to activate the hidden layer and the output layer based on the hyperbolic tangent function, and its initial connection weights are optimized by adopting Gaussian Interaction Profile kernel (GIP) similarity for microbes, which can improve the training speed of BPNNHMDA efficiently. Finally, in order to verify the performance of our prediction model, different frameworks such as the Leave-One-Out Cross Validation (LOOCV) and k-Fold Cross Validation ( k-Fold CV) are implemented on BPNNHMDA respectively. Simulation results illustrate that BPNNHMDA can achieve reliable AUCs of 0.9242, 0.9127 ± 0.0009 and 0.8955 ± 0.0018 in LOOCV, 5-Fold CV and 2-Fold CV separately, which are superior to previous state-of-the-art methods. Furthermore, case studies of inflammatory bowel disease (IBD), asthma and obesity demonstrate that BPNNHMDA has excellent prediction ability in practical applications as well.

48. Effects of sowing date and ecological points on yield and the temperature and radiation resources of semi-winter wheat

Abstract

Exploring the effects of sowing date and ecological points on the yield of semi-winter wheat is of great significance. This study aims to reveal the effects of sowing date and ecological points on the climate resources associated with wheat yield in the Rice–Wheat Rotation System. With six sowing dates, the experiments were carried out in Donghai and Jianhu counties, Jiangsu Province, China using two semi-winter wheat varieties as the objects of this study. The basic seedlings of the first sowing date (S1) were planted at 300×104plants ha−1, which was increased by 10% for each of the delayed sowing dates (S2–S6). The results showed that the delay of sowing date decreased the number of days, the effective accumulated temperature and the cumulative solar radiation in the whole growth period. The yields of S1 were higher than those of S2 to S6 by 0.22–0.31, 0.5–0.78, 0.86–0.98, 1.14–1.38, and 1.36–1.59 t ha–1, respectively. For a given sowing date, the growth days increased as the ecological point was moved north, while both mean daily temperature and effective accumulative temperature decreased, but the cumulative radiation increased. As a result, the yields at Donghai County were 0.01–0.39 t ha–1lower than those of Jianhu County for the six sowing dates. The effective accumulative temperature and cumulative radiation both had significant positive correlations with yield. The average temperature was significantly negatively correlated with the yield. The decrease in grain yield was mainly due to the declines in grains per spike and 1 000-grain weight caused by the increase in the daily temperature and the decrease in the effective accumulative temperature.

Abstract

Detection of double video compression is of particular importance in video forensics, as it reveals partly the video processing history. In this paper, a double compression method is proposed for HEVC–the latest video coding standard. Firstly, four 5×5 co-occurrence matrixes were derived from DCT coefficients along four directions respectively, i.e., horizontal, vertical, main diagonal and minor diagonal. Then four 4×4 co-occurrence matrixes were derived from PU types which are innovative features of HEVC and rarely been utilized by researchers. Finally, these two feature set are combined and sent to support vector machine (SVM) to detect re-compressed videos. In order to reduce the feature dimension, only the co-occurrence matrixes of DCT coefficients and PU types in horizontal direction are adopted to identify whether the video has undergone double compression. Experimental results show the effectiveness and the robustness against frame deletion of the proposed scheme.
