The prevention of drying-induced cracking is crucial in maintaining the mechanical integrity and functionality of colloidal deposits and coatings. Despite exploring various approaches, controlling drying-induced cracking remains a subject of great scientific interest and practical importance. By introducing chain-like particles composed of the same material and with comparable size into commonly used colloidal suspensions of spherical silica nanoparticles, we can significantly reduce the cracks formed in dried particle deposits and achieve a fivefold increase in the critical cracking thickness of colloidal silica coatings. The mechanism underlying the crack suppression is attributed to the increased porosity and pore sizes in dried particle deposits containing chain-like particle, which essentially leads to reduction in internal stresses developed during the drying process. Meanwhile, the nanoindentation measurements reveal that colloidal deposits with chain-like particles exhibit a smaller reduction in hardness compared to those reported using other cracking suppression approaches. Designing homogeneous networks is considered one typical strategy for solving the problem of strength and toughness conflict of polymer network materials. Experimentalists have proposed the hypothesis of obtaining a structurally homogeneous hydrogel by crosslinking tetra-armed polymers, whose homogeneity was claimed to be verified by scattering characterization and other methods. Nevertheless, it is highly desirable to further evaluate this issue from other perspectives. In this study, a coarse-grained molecular dynamics simulation coupled with a stochastic reaction model is applied to reveal the topological structure of a polymer network synthesized by tetra-armed monomers as precursors. Two different scenarios, distinguished by whether internal cross-linking is allowed, are considered. We introduce the Dijkstra algorithm from graph theory to precisely characterize the network structure. The microscopic features of the network structure, e.g., loop size, dispersity, and size distribution, are obtained via the Dijkstra algorithm. By comparing the two reaction scenarios, Scenario II exhibits an overall more idealized structure. Our results demonstrate the feasibility of the Dijkstra algorithm for precisely characterizing the polymer network structure. Loop formation in complex environments is crucially important to many biological processes in life. In the present work, we adopt three-dimensional Langevin dynamics simulations to investigate passive and active polymer looping kinetics in crowded media featuring polymer–crowder attraction. We find polymers undergo a remarkable coil–globule–coil transition, highlighted by a marked change in the Flory scaling exponent of the gyration radius. Meanwhile, looping time as a function of the crowder's volume fraction demonstrates an apparent non-monotonic alteration. A small number of crowders induce a compact structure, which largely facilitates the looping process. While a large number of crowders heavily impede end-to-end diffusion, looping kinetics is greatly inhibited. For a self-propelled chain, we find that the attractive crowding triggers an unusual activity effect on looping kinetics. Once a globular state is formed, activity takes an effort to open the chain from the compact structure, leading to an unexpected activity-induced inhibition of looping. If the chain maintains a coil state, the dominant role of activity is to enhance diffusivity and, thus, speed up looping kinetics. The novel conformational change and looping kinetics of both passive and active polymers in the presence of attractive crowding highlight a rather distinct scenario that has no analogy in a repulsive crowding counterpart. In response to the increasing traffic noise problem, we designed a combined acoustic metamaterial (CAM) based on the multi-channel Fano resonance principle. By utilizing the Fano resonance coupling between the acoustic spiral structure and the hollow structure, efficient sound insulation under effective ventilation conditions is achieved. Simulation results of acoustic transmission loss show that the acoustic transmission loss of CAM is more than 13 dB in the frequency band of 520–989 Hz. The broadband sound insulation characteristic can block the oblique angle incident sound waves from different angles. Simulation results of the elastic strain energy and acoustic pressure field validate the sound insulation mechanism of the Fano resonance of the combined acoustic metamaterial. The experimental results in the impedance tube generally agree with the simulation results. To explore the possibility of wider engineering applications of CAM, we propose a combined CAM and CAM0.7 structure. The effects of carbon in heavily phosphorus-doped Czochralski (HP-Cz) silicon (Si) substrates, with the concentrations across an order of magnitude from 1016 to 1017 cm−3, on the out-diffusion of phosphorus impurities within n/n+ epitaxial Si (Epi-Si) wafers have been investigated. It is found that the increase in the carbon concentration ([C]) from 1.0 × 1016 to 1.0 × 1017 cm−3 leads to the enhanced phosphorus out-diffusion within the n/n+ Epi-Si wafer when subjected to anneal at 1100 °C in an N2 or an O2 ambient or to anneal at 1150 °C in an N2 ambient, but hardly affects the phosphorus out-diffusion within the n/n+ Epi-Si wafer when subjected to anneal at 1150 °C in an O2 ambient. Based on the density functional theory calculations, it is derived that the increase in the [C] from 1.0 × 1016 to 1.0 × 1017 cm−3 in the HP-Cz Si substrate results in a significantly increased thermal equilibrium concentration of self-interstitial silicon (SiI) atoms at 1100 or 1150 °C, which, in turn, leads to the increased concentration of the SiI atoms that out-diffuse from the substrate to the epitaxial layer because the SiI atoms diffuse extremely fast in Si. Such a carbon-induced increase in the concentration of SiI atoms is believed to be responsible for the aforementioned enhanced phosphorus out-diffusion, which is predominantly dictated by the interstitialcy mechanism. In the case of anneal in the O2 ambient at sufficiently high temperatures such as 1150 °C, a large number of excessive SiI atoms injected into the Epi-Si wafer substantially mask the carbon enhancement effect on the phosphorus out-diffusion. Of technological significance, it is deduced that the [C] should be not higher than 1.0 × 1016 cm−3 in the HP-Cz Si wafers as the substrates of n/n+ Epi-Si wafers used for power devices. The thermophysical properties and elemental abundances of the noble gases in terrestrial materials can provide unique insights into the Earth's evolution and mantle dynamics. Here, we perform extensive ab initio molecular dynamics simulations to determine the melting temperature and sound velocity of neon up to 370 GPa and 7500 K to constrain its physical state and storage capacity, together with to reveal its implications for the deep interior of the Earth. It is found that solid neon can exist stably under the lower mantle and inner core conditions, and the abnormal melting of neon is not observed under the entire temperature (T) and pressure (P) region inside the Earth owing to its peculiar electronic structure, which is substantially distinct from other heavier noble gases. An inspection of the reduction for sound velocity along the Earth's geotherm evidences that neon can be used as a light element to account for the low-velocity anomaly and density deficit in the deep Earth. A comparison of the pair distribution functions and mean square displacements of MgSiO3–Ne and Fe–Ne alloys further reveals that MgSiO3 has a larger neon storage capacity than the liquid iron under the deep Earth condition, indicating that the lower mantle may be a natural deep noble gas storage reservoir. Our results provide valuable information for studying the fundamental behavior and phase transition of neon in a higher T–P regime, and further enhance our understanding for the interior structure and evolution processes inside the Earth. Polymer dielectrics with excellent capacitive performance are urgently needed in advanced electrical and electronic systems. However, due to the dramatic increase in the conduction loss, the energy density and efficiency of polymers degrade severely at elevated temperatures, limiting their application in harsh environments up to 150 °C. Herein, an all-organic polyurea (PU)/polyetherimide (PEI) blend film is designed to prepare high-temperature polymer dielectric. It is found that carrier traps can be introduced by blending, and the hydrogen bond between PU and PEI increases the trap depth, leading to suppressed leakage current and enhanced breakdown strength, thus improving the energy storage performance. PU/30%PEI exhibits a high discharged energy density of ∼3.74 J/cm3 with an efficiency higher than 90% at 150 °C, which is 78% and 70% higher than pristine PU and PEI, respectively. Metal ion-induced water pollution is attracting increasing public attention. Perovskite quantum dots and metal–organic frameworks (MOFs), owing to their outstanding properties, hold promise as ideal probes for detecting metal ions. In this study, a composite material, MAPbBr3@PCN-221(Fe), was prepared by encapsulating MAPbBr3 quantum dots with PCN-221(Fe), demonstrating high chemical stability and good reusability. The composite material shows a sensitive fluorescence turn-on signal in the presence of silver ions. The fluorescence intensity of the composite material exhibits a linear relationship with the concentration of Ag+ in the solution, with a low detection limit of 8.68 µM. Moreover, the fluorescence signal exhibits a strong selectivity for Ag+, enabling the detection of Ag+ concentration. This fluorescence turn-on signal originates from the Ag+-bridged energy transfer from the conductive band of MAPbBr3 to the excited state of the MOF, which is directly proportional to the concentration of silver ions. Original lidar return signals are covered by high levels of noise that seriously affect the accuracy of subsequent data processing and inversion. Therefore, it is important to separate the effective signal from the returned signal with noise interference. In this paper, an efficient denoising method based on the variational mode decomposition (VMD) algorithm optimized using the global search strategy-based whale algorithm and the total variational stationary wavelet transform (GSWOA-VMD-SWTTV) is proposed, and this method is applied to denoising of lidar return signals. First, the global search strategy-based whale optimization algorithm (GSWOA) is used to acquire the optimal parameters of the VMD algorithm adaptively, and the lidar return signal is then decomposed by global search strategy-based whale optimization algorithm (GSWOA)-VMD. The effective modal components are then determined using the cross-correlation coefficient method from the decomposed modal components, and total variation stationary wavelet denoising is performed on each effective mode. Finally, the effective modes are reconstructed to obtain a clean lidar return signal. Moreover, to provide further verification of the effectiveness of the proposed method, it is compared with the ensemble empirical mode decomposition (EEMD) method, the complete EEMD with adaptive noise (CEEMDAN) method, the singular value decomposition (SVD) method, and the wavelet threshold method under sunny, cloudy, and dusty weather conditions. The experimental results demonstrate the superior noise reduction performance of the proposed algorithm, which can filter out strong noise from the signal while retaining the complete signal details without distortion; additionally, the proposed method has the highest signal-to-noise ratio and lowest mean square error. This study presents a collaborative experimental and theoretical investigation into the structures and electronic properties of niobium-doped germanium clusters. Anion photoelectron spectra for Nb1–2Gen− (n = 3–7) clusters were acquired using 266 nm photon energies, enabling the determination of adiabatic detachment energies and vertical detachment energies. In conjunction with these experimental measurements, density functional theory (DFT) calculations were conducted to validate the experimentally obtained electron detachment energies and elucidate the geometric and electronic structures of each anionic cluster. The agreement between DFT calculations and experimental data establishes a solid foundation for assessing the structural evolution and electronic properties of niobium-doped germanium clusters. It is noted that both neutral and anionic clusters exhibit predominantly similar overall structural characteristics, with the exception of Nb2Ge6− and Nb2Ge6. Furthermore, this investigation emphasizes the exceptional chemical stability of the D3d symmetric chair-shaped structure in Nb2Ge6−, providing insights into its bonding characteristics. Consistent c-axis orientation characteristics toward the direction of applied pressure of Y-type BaSrCo2Fe11AlO22 (BSCFAO-θ) were successfully prepared by the strategy of hot pressing. The samples' magnetoelectric coupling performance was greatly enhanced by the strategy of hot pressing than that of the traditional solid reaction method. The magnetoelectric current of BSCFAO-θ (θ = 0°) (12.06 μA/m2) was nearly 5 times higher than BSCFAO-SS (2.24 μA/m2). The magnetoelectric polarization of BSCFAO-θ (θ = 0°) (32.82 μC/m2) was nearly 4 times higher than that of BSCFAO-SS (8.31 μC/m2). The magnetoelectric coupling coefficients of BSCFAO-θ (θ = 0°) (1880 ps/m) were nearly 4 times higher than those of BSCFAO-SS (404 ps/m). The enhancement of magnetoelectric polarization of BSCFAO-θ (θ = 0°) can be attributed to the uniform c-axis orientation, which reinforced magnetoelectric polarization compared with none orientation that eliminated the magnetoelectric polarization on grain boundaries. The magnetoelectric coupling performance of BSCFAO-θ presented a gradually decreasing trend with the angle changing from 0° to 90° for the changing of orientation. Compared with traditional solid reaction methods, the strategy of hot pressing inhibits grain growth and increases grain boundaries, thus facilitating the enhancement of grain boundaries' resistivity, and the electrical resistivity of BSCFAO-θ (3.08 × 1010 Ω cm) was nearly 10 000 times higher than that of BSCFAO-SS (2.5 × 106 Ω cm), which also benefits the magnetoelectric polarization performance of BSCFAO-θ. Therefore, the hot-pressing strategy can contribute to the forming of oriented ceramics and enhance the grain boundaries' resistivity to improve magnetoelectric coupling performance. Many solid crystals exhibit a structural phase transition where a subset of its ions or entire molecules become orientationally ordered. As to why such ordering occurs remains mostly unresolved. We consider the extremely weak magnetic elements arising from the reorientations of the molecules experiencing mutual resonance to play the chief role. Two new features are identified in d-camphor: (1) the magnetic susceptibility abruptly changes when crossing the order–disorder phase transition at TII–III = 239.8 K during cooling and at TIII–II = 245.2 K during warming and (2) the complex dielectric constant exhibits two successive discontinuities only 0.2 K apart near the critical temperatures when the sweeping rate is only 0.1 K/min. We discuss how the change in entropy associated with order–disorder transitions in plastic crystals represents temporal changes rather than spatial changes in the system. Identifying the oxidation structure of two-dimensional interfaces is crucial to improve surface chemistry and electronic properties. Beyond graphene with only phenyl rings, a novel carbon-nitrogen material, C3N, presents an intrinsic heterogeneous surface morphology where each phenyl ring is encircled by six nitrogen atoms, yet its atomistic oxidation structure remains unclear. Here, combining a series of density functional theory calculations and ab initio molecular dynamics simulations, we demonstrate that thermodynamically favorable oxidation loci are confined to the phenyl ring, and kinetic transformations of oxidation structures are feasible along the phenyl ring, whereas those toward nitrogen atoms are proven to be extremely difficult. These results are attributed to the lower barrier of oxygen atom migration along the phenyl ring, while the significantly high barriers toward nitrogen atoms are due to the heterogeneous potential energy surface for oxygen–C3N interaction. This work highlights the significance of surface morphology on the characteristics of oxidation structure, offering insights into tunable electronic properties via confined interfacial oxidation. Two-dimensional (2D) transition metal dichalcogenides with 2H-phases, as a unique platform of valleytronics, display valley polarization and the well-known anomalous valley Hall effect when stacking with 2D magnetic substrates. In this study, we employ first-principles calculations to investigate the magnetic states, band structures, and magnetic proximity-dependent valley properties of 2D van der Waals heterostructures Cr2Ge2Te6/2H-MX2 (M = Mo, W, and X = S, Se, Te). Our findings reveal that the heterostructures possess stacking-dependent spontaneous valley polarization as well as pristine perpendicular magnetic anisotropy. Additionally, the Berry curvature and circular polarization demonstrate the presence of spin–momentum coupling characteristics, while the calculated non-zero Hall voltage indicates that the anomalous valley Hall effect can be achieved in valley-polarized systems. Furthermore, due to the strain effect and the electronic polarization at the interface, Cr2Ge2Te6/2H-MX2 heterostructures undergo the transition from semiconductors to semimetals upon substitution of early chalcogen elements. A finite element simulation model of terahertz wave propagation in plasma is developed. The equivalence of treating the plasma as a dielectric and an electrical conductor is studied in comparison. The propagation characteristics of terahertz waves in a unmagnetized plasma obtained from experimental measurements or simulations are simulated by interpolating the distribution of key parameters such as electron density and collision frequency of the external plasma. The validity of this open simulation model is verified by using the simulation data of plasma electron density generated by the independent electrochemical plasma generation model as external data. Using this model as a research tool, the propagation characteristics of terahertz waves in plasma measured by laser Thomson scattering are studied. The simulation results of the terahertz wave propagation characteristics in the plasma with and without considering the collision frequency are compared by this model. The terahertz transmission model in plasma can be used to study the propagation characteristics of terahertz waves in various inhomogeneous plasmas, which would be helpful to solve the communication "blackout" problem. This study explores the feasibility of precisely tuning the resistive switching behavior of Au/BiFeO 3 /Pt/Ti/SiO 2 /Si memristors through controlled modulation of laser energy density during pulsed laser deposition (PLD). By systematically reducing the laser energy density within the fabrication process, notable alterations in the properties of the BiFeO 3 (BFO) thin film are observed. As the laser energy density decreases, the grain size in the BFO film and the thickness of the film decrease. Furthermore, we obtain the minute structural variations in response to the diverse laser energy densities employed during the deposition process. Energy-dispersive x-ray spectroscopy analysis is employed to investigate the distribution of Ti 4 + ions within the BFO thin film. The reduction in the grain size and film thickness, along with the prominent nucleation of specifically oriented grains, and the diffusion of Ti 4 + ions, lead to the BFO memristor fabricated with a lower laser energy density having more grain boundaries and a shortened conduction path (grain boundary) in the thickness direction. Consequently, the enhanced movement of oxygen vacancies facilitates their preferential accumulation along the grain boundaries within the BFO layer, resulting in an augmented on/off ratio, rectification factor, and set current in the devices. Overall, our findings explain the significant influence of laser energy density in PLD on the microstructure and electrical properties of BFO thin films. Particularly, the lower energy densities are employed to improve electrical characteristics. This research not only enhances our fundamental understanding but also provides valuable insights into optimizing BFO memristors for reliable, robust, and practical applications. In this work, bottom-Schottky-structure InGaZnOx (IGZO) Schottky barrier diodes (SBDs) with sputtered PtOx anodes were fabricated and annealed in oxygen at different temperatures. Critical parameters and negative bias stress (NBS) stability of SBDs with different annealing temperatures are investigated. With the annealing temperature increases, the barrier height and rectification ratio of the SBDs exhibited a rising-then-declining trend, while the ideality factor slightly increased until 200 °C. The SBDs show up overall reliability except for a leakage current rising trend under light, which can be attributed to free electron generation from the ionized oxygen vacancy. Among all the SBDs, the 175 °C annealed ones exhibited the best overall performance, including a high barrier height of 0.89 eV, an ideality factor of 1.14, and a large rectification ratio of over 108. Compared to the initial SBDs, the annealed ones showed up great improvement in NBS stability except for the 200 °C annealed ones, which was permanently degraded and not able to recover to original states. According to experimental result analysis and IGZO material characteristics, a stability model based on the subgap trap transition from V O 2 + to VO and new V O 2 + creation was proposed, which applies to both the short-term and long-term NBS tests. The results above demonstrate that oxygen annealing at appropriate temperature is an effective method to improve both device performance and NBS stability for PtOx–IGZO SBDs. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

The micro-discharge effect limits the development of high-frequency microwave power components to miniaturization and integration. Therefore, it has become a focus of research to effectively suppress the micro-discharge effect, increase the micro-discharge threshold, and strengthen the environmental stability of high-frequency microwave devices. In this study, different elemental ratios of carbon (C)/silver (Ag)/titanium (Ti) composite films were obtained by multi-target magnetron co-sputtering technology and then systematically analyzed for micro-discharge effects. When the doping ratio of C/Ag/Ti was 3.538/1/0.013, the corresponding maximum secondary electron emission coefficient (δmax) decreased to 1.01 owing to the suppression of secondary electron emission by the increase in the content of sp2 hybrid bond. The micro-discharge threshold of Ku band waveguide filters coated with moderate C/Ag/Ti composite films showed an optimal performance of 10 000−12 500 W, which was increased by approximately 20 times. Moreover, the microstructure of the composite films exhibited higher density and flatness with a tiny increase in the titanium doping ratio, representing good environmental stability. Thus, the effective suppression of the secondary electron emission yield, significant improvement in the micro-discharge threshold, and enhancement of the environment stability of microwave components could be realized simultaneously by reasonably controlling the content of titanium in silver and titanium co-doped carbon-based composite films. The identification and analysis of quantum state-specific effects can significantly deepen our understanding of detailed photodissociation dynamics. Here, we report an experimental investigation on the vibrational state-mediated photodissociation of the OCS+ cation via the A2Π1/2 (ν1 0 ν3) states by using the velocity map ion imaging technique over the photolysis wavelength range of 263–294 nm. It was found that the electronically excited S+ product channel S+(2Du) + CO (X1Σ+) was significantly enhanced when the ν1 and ν3 vibrational modes were excited. Clear deviations in the branching ratios of the electronically excited S+ channel were observed when the vibrational modes ν1 and ν3 were selectively excited. The results reveal that vibrationally excited states play a vital role in influencing the nonadiabatic couplings in the photodissociation process. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

A novel mode-localized acceleration sensor employing an electrostatically coupled resonator and integrating a lever with proof mass is micromachined using standard silicon on insulator (SOI) technology. In order to determine the linear dynamic range of the sensor, a reduced order model is developed while assuming that the resonators vibrate below the critical amplitude. Then, open-loop and closed-loop testing platforms are established to measure the performance of the linearly operating accelerometer in a vacuum environment (less than 5 Pa). Moreover, the corresponding amplifier circuit based on the capacitive detection principle is designed in order to extract and amplify the current signal from the resonators. The obtained results show that the accelerometer sensitivity can be increased by three orders of magnitude when using the relative shift of amplitude ratio as the output metric instead of the relative shift of frequency, and the experimental measurements are consistent with the theoretical predictions. Remarkably, the Allan standard deviation of the mode-localized acceleration sensor obtained from the closed-loop testing circuit is around 5.03 μg. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

III–V colloidal quantum dots (QDs) promise Pb and Hg-free QD compositions with which to build short-wavelength infrared (SWIR) optoelectronic devices. However, their synthesis is limited by the availability of group-V precursors with controllable reactivities to prepare monodisperse, SWIR-absorbing III–V QDs. Here, we report a one-pot heat-up method to synthesize ∼8 nm edge length (∼6.5 nm in height) tetrahedral, SWIR-absorbing InAs QDs by increasing the [In3+]:[As3+] ratio introduced using commercially available InCl3 and AsCl3 precursors and by decreasing the concentration and optimizing the volume of the reducing reagent superhydride to control the concentration of In(0) and As(0) intermediates through QD nucleation and growth. InAs QDs are treated with NOBF4, and their deposited films are exchanged with Na2S to yield n-type InAs QD films. The tetrahedral amorphous carbon (ta-C) coatings are deposited on piston rings to improve the tribological property of the piston ring-cylinder liner system of the internal combustion engines. The deposition parameters are optimized by molecular dynamics simulation to reduce the cost of coatings' fabrication. The ta-C coatings with higher sp3 fraction, lower friction coefficient, and superior anti-wear properties are achieved by optimizing the incident energy and substrate temperature of carbon atoms. The second nearest-neighbor modified embedded-atom method potential and Tersoff potential are used to describe the interatomic interactions. The effects of the incident energy of the carbon atoms and substrate temperature on the deposition properties of the ta-C coatings are discussed. The numerical results show that the ta-C coatings with high sp3 fraction, high density, and good interface mixing are obtained, and the deposition properties of the ta-C coatings are improved. Magnetic skyrmion bags are composite topological spin textures with arbitrary topological charges. Here, we computationally study the transient rotational motion of skyrmion bags, which is characterized by a global rotation of inner skyrmions around the central point. Distinct from conventional rotational modes found in skyrmions, the observed rotation is a forced motion associated with the breathing mode induced solely by vertical microwave fields. The driving force behind this rotation originates from the interactions between outer and inner skyrmions, with the angular velocity determined by the phase difference resulting from their asynchronous breathing behaviors. It is also found that skyrmion bags with larger skyrmion numbers are more conducive to the occurrence of the rotation. Topological regulation of DNA by topoisomerases in cells is very crucial for life. We propose a coarse-grained model to study the catenation process of double-stranded DNA (dsDNA) rings regulated by topoisomerase II (TOP2) and provide a computational method to characterize the topological structures of the Olympic gels obtained. The function of TOP2 in the catenation of dsDNA rings is implicitly fulfilled by operating the length of a stretchable catch bond in the dsDNA ring. After the catenation reaction of initially noncatenated dsDNA rings in the solution, the Olympic gel is obtained and the interlocked topology of the dsDNA rings can be characterized by a computational method derived from the HOMFLY polynomial, based on which the catenation degree and the complexity of catenation are quantified. Detailed dependence of the catenation degree and the complexity of the catenated topology on key parameters, including the size of the transient broken gap and the duration time of the break on the dsDNA ring during operation by TOP2, the initial molar ratio of TOP2 to the dsDNA rings, and the reaction temperature, has been investigated. Based on first-principles calculations, the current study deeply explores the thermoelectric properties of the Zintl compound SrPdTe. We found that the anharmonic vibration of Pd atoms plays an important role in the quartic anharmonic effect and the temperature dependence of the thermal conductivity. In the crystalline structure, Sr atoms form octahedra with eight surrounding Te atoms, while Pd atoms are located in the gaps between the octahedra. This structure makes the strong atomic mean square displacement of Pd atoms the main factor leading to the ultralow thermal conductivity. The study also reveals the effects of phonon frequency renormalization and four-phonon scattering on heat transfer performance. Even considering the spin–orbit coupling effect, multiple secondary valence band tops maintain the power factor of the material at high temperatures, providing a potential opportunity for achieving excellent thermoelectric performance. Copper (Cu) interconnections have been widely used in advanced electronic packaging due to their outstanding thermal and electric properties. Preparing a smooth and uniform Cu seed thin layer is one of the critical processes to obtain high-reliability Cu interconnections. The barrier layer between Cu and silicon (Si) devices is necessary to prevent the inter-diffusion between Cu and Si. However, little work has been done on the surface roughness analysis of the Cu seed layer deposited on the diffusion barrier layer. In this paper, the influences of deposition thickness, incident energy, barrier layer temperature, and surface morphology on the surface roughness of the Cu seed layer deposited on α-titanium (α-Ti) barrier layer were studied in detail by the molecular dynamics (MD). The simulation results indicated that appropriate parameters have a beneficial effect on reducing the surface roughness, and the surface morphology of the Cu seed layer strongly connects with that of the barrier layer. The manipulation of spin–orbit torque (SOT) manifests enormous potentiality in the field of spintronics due to virtues of low power consumption, ultrafast spin-flips, and high-density integration. Increaser the spin hall angle of the spin source layer or the SOT efficiency are the key approaches of achieving low power spintronics. Here, we report an enhancement of spin–orbit torques in Ta/Co/Pt heterostructures using low-voltage ionic liquid gating. The effective spin Hall angle increased threefold with an applied voltage of 2 V. As expected, the enhanced spin Hall angle lowers the critical current density by 66.7% (1.14 × 107 to 3.80 × 106 A cm−2). By the lock-in harmonic Hall voltage measurements, the outstanding performance of manipulation of the spin–orbit coupling originates from the electrostatic doping interracially by the ionic liquid. In addition to the significant fundamentals, our work could be feasibly wielded toward the spintronics such as memory and logic devices in the behaviors of energy-efficient and impressive tunability. The lattice mismatch, defect, and weak interlayer coupling severely constrain the practical application of van der Waals heterojunctions (vdWHs) in the field of optoelectronic devices. Here, we introduced the 2D ferroelectric (FE) material AgBiP2Se6 to construct defect-free, low lattice-mismatched AgBiP2Se6/MoSe2 heterojunctions with different polariton directions (I, II, III). The AgBiP2Se6 layer can provide an excellent FE electric field to enhance the interlayer coupling and stiffness. The larger interlay stiffness reduces the probability of electron–phonon scattering and then results in significant carrier mobility (∼0.5 × 104 cm2 V−1 s−1) for configurations I and II. Phase transition of FE to paraelectric AgBiP2Se6 in the AgBiP2Se6/MoSe2 heterojunctions can be achieved under specific biaxial strain, which can effectively regulate the electronic structure. Applying the strain and electric field can regulate the bandgap and band alignment of configurations I and II. The photoelectric conversion efficiency of configuration I can reach as high as 20.54% under 2% biaxial strain. Furthermore, configuration II holds a nearly free electron state near the Fermi level under an electric field, which can act as a favorable electron transport channel. A design to strengthen interlayer coupling in the FE-based AgBiP2Se6/MoSe2 heterojunction has been proposed, and it can provide a new way to break through the traditional bottleneck in the development of optoelectronic devices. C4F7N/CO2 gas mixtures have attracted extensive attention because of their excellent insulating properties and environmental friendliness. High electrical and thermal stability is an important indicator for evaluating their performance, but there have been few molecular dynamics studies of their decomposition mechanisms. In this study, using ReaxFF molecular dynamics simulations and quantum chemistry theory, the decomposition mechanism of a C4F7N/CO2 gas mixture and the effect of the O2 content on the decomposition of the mixture were simulated on the microscopic level. It was found that there are three main decomposition pathways of C4F7N molecules, of which the generation of C3F4N⋅ and CF3⋅ free radicals is the most likely to occur. COF2 is the main oxygen-containing product of the C4F7N/CO2 gas mixture, and its generation is significantly affected by the simulation time and temperature. COF2 can be regarded as the characteristic decomposition product of the C4F7N/CO2 gas mixture. The addition of O2 slightly promotes the decomposition of C4F7N, whereas the maximum decomposition rate of CO2 decreases by 0.3% and 1% after the addition of 2% and 8% O2, respectively. Relevant results of this research can provide a theoretical basis and guidance for research into the performance of C4F7N/CO2 gas mixtures and practical engineering applications of these mixtures in the future. Concentrated ionic aqueous electrolytes possess a diverse array of applications across various fields, particularly in the field of energy storage. Despite extensive examination, the intricate relationships and numerous physical mechanisms underpinning diverse phenomena remain incompletely understood. Molecular dynamics simulations are employed to probe the attributes of aqueous solutions containing LiCl, NaCl, KCl, MgCl2, and CaCl2, spanning various solute fractions. The primary emphasis of the simulations is on unraveling the intricate interplay between these attributes and the underlying physical mechanisms. The configurations of cation-Cl− and Cl−–Cl− pairs within these solutions are disclosed. As the solute fraction increases, consistent trends manifest regardless of solute type: (i) the number of hydrogen bonds formed by the hydration water surrounding ions decreases, primarily attributed to the growing presence of counter ions in proximity to the hydration water; (ii) the hydration number of ions exhibits varying trends influenced by multiple factor; and (iii) the diffusion of ions slows down, attributed to the enhanced confinement and rebound of cations and Cl− ions from the surrounding atoms, concurrently coupled with the changes in ion vibration modes. In our analysis, we have, for the first time, clarified the reasons behind the slowing down of the diffusion of the ions with increasing solute fraction. Pathways of two-body fragmentation of BrCNq+ (q = 2, 3) have been explored by combined experimental and theoretical studies. In the experiment, the BrCN molecule is ionized by 1 keV electron impact and the created fragment ions are detected using an ion momentum imaging spectrometer. Six two-body fragmentation channels are identified. By measuring the momentum vectors of the fragment ions, the kinetic energy release (KER) distributions for these channels have been determined. Theoretically, the potential energy curves of BrCNq+ (q = 2, 3) as a function of Br–C and C–N internuclear distances are calculated by the complete active space self-consistent field method. By comparing the measured KER and theoretical predictions, pathways for the fragmentation channels are assigned. The relative branching ratios of the channels are also determined. Understanding the magnetic states and their dynamics in patterned ferromagnetic materials is of great importance for ultrahigh-density recording from the viewpoints of both fundamental research and practical applications. However, reliable access to magnetization dynamics in magnetic materials and devices on the technologically highly relevant terahertz range remains challenging. Currently, there is a lack of reports on terahertz magnetic susceptibility. Here, through micromagnetic simulations, we study the dynamics of pyramid-shaped, isolated magnetic nanodots and their arrays made of L10-FePt with high magnetocrystalline anisotropy. Numerical results reveal a significant magnetic response of isolated pyramid nanodots in the terahertz range. Specifically, two resonant modes, namely, a bulk mode and an edge mode, have been identified. For the lateral size above ∼100 nm, the nanodot's bulk mode splits and higher-order modes appear. Furthermore, the calculated spatial Fourier amplitude of resonant modes of nanopyramid arrays exhibits the dependence of lateral size and inter-dot spacing. In this paper, we report a reconfigurable multifunctional polarization converter (RMPC) based on positive-intrinsic-negative (PIN) diodes, enabling to achieve different functions in different bands and states. The simulations and experiments show that when the PIN diode is off, it acts as a broadband linear polarization (LP) converter at 9.12–15.93 GHz. Simultaneously, when the PIN diode is on, the LP incident wave is converted into a left-handed circular polarization wave at 8.69–11.41 GHz and a cross-polarization wave at 13.40–14.97 GHz, whereas full reflection is obtained at 12.05–12.54 GHz. The RMPC consists of two dielectric plates and three layers of metal copper plates. Finally, a sample was fabricated and measured, the simulated and experimental results were in good agreement. Compared with other works, the RMPC has more working states and wider operating frequency bands, which has an application potential in the field of radar stealth and satellite communication. In water-guided laser technology, the stability of water jets is crucial to ensure the efficient transmission of laser energy. However, the thermal effects generated when high-power lasers are coupled with water jets are bound to impact the stability of the water jets, thus becoming a critical issue that restricts the development of high-power water-guided laser technology. In addressing this issue, this paper establishes a temperature model for coupling high-power lasers with water jets. Subsequently, with validation of the model's effectiveness through experimental data, simulations are conducted to analyze the temperature distribution within the water jet. During the simulation process, lasers with different parameters were coupled with water jets to analyze the temperature variation law of the water jets. Additionally, the maximum laser power coupled with water jets of different lengths was solved. Based on the calculated temperature values of the water jet, simulate the evolution of its profile over time when it has an initial temperature gradient. Simultaneously, perform a three-dimensional reconstruction of the obtained perturbed profile and conduct ray tracing to analyze the laser's transmission losses within the perturbed profile. Finally, high-speed cameras are utilized to capture the profile of the water jet, validating the laser-induced fragmentation behavior in the water jet. Two-dimensional electron gas is precisely confined at the interface of insulating oxide thin films and substrates, e.g., LaAlO3/SrTiO3(STO) and, thus, shows 2D electronic transport features. Here, we report a high mobility electron state at the interface of a Cr2O3 film and a STO substrate, which is realized by depositing a Cr film onto a STO (111) substrate in high vacuum (1 × 10−10 mbar) using molecular beam epitaxy. At a substrate temperature of 700 °C, the deposited Cr films capture oxygen atoms from STO substrates, resulting in the formation of an insulating Cr2O3 layer and an oxygen-deficient STO layer. Due to the presence of high mobility electrons [1.5 × 104 cm2V−1 s−1 at 1.8 K] at the Cr2O3/STO interface, both out-of-plane and in-plane Shubnikov–de Haas oscillations are observed at low temperatures (<3 K), which suggests that the highly conducting electron gas has extended into the STO bulk along the thickness direction with a certain depth to allow electrons to complete the cyclotron motion. Different from conventional ferromagnetic methods, producing a spin-polarized current through electrical ways in spintronic devices can greatly increase operating speed, reduce power consumption, and improve device integration. Inspired by recent experimental progress on the synthesis of a heptauthrene molecule, we investigate its spin-dependent transport contacted with Au electrodes through first-principles calculations. By applying a gate voltage, the transmission can be switched between completely spin-up and spin-down polarized states, achieving an electrically controlled dual-spin filter. Furthermore, a fine tuning on the spin polarization, between 100% and − 100%, can also be realized, where the transport with any ratio of spin-up to spin-down electron quantities can be realized beyond the traditional devices. The peculiar transmission spectra and their shift are found to play crucial roles, where transmission peaks distribute on both sides of the Fermi level with opposite spin components. Such a spin-polarization modulating effect is found to be robust to the molecule-electrode contacting site, indicating it is an intrinsic feature of such systems. Thin-walled parts processed by five-axis CNC machine tools are widely used in aerospace and other fields due to their excellent performance. However, due to the weak rigidity of thin-walled parts, they are prone to deformation during milling, which poses great difficulties for efficient and precise machining of thin-walled parts. This paper introduces the classification and corresponding machining methods of thin-walled parts. By analyzing the causes and evolution mechanisms of errors in the machining process of thin-walled parts, and combining modeling methods with factors such as milling force, residual stress, and cutting chatter, the current research status of domestic and foreign scholars on deformation factors is summarized. At the same time, two deformation control methods, adaptive machining and error compensation, were introduced. Finally, the overall research status of thin-walled parts machining was summarized, and prospects for efficient and precise machining of thin-walled parts were proposed based on actual machining conditions. We conduct a comprehensive analysis of the accreting X-ray pulsar, Hercules X-1, utilizing data from Imaging X-ray Polarimetry Explorer (IXPE) and Nuclear Spectroscopic Telescope Array. IXPE performed five observations of Her X-1, consisting of three in the Main-on state and two in the Short-on state. Our time-resolved analysis uncovers the linear correlations between the flux and polarization degree as well as the pulse fraction and polarization degree. Geometry parameters are rigorously constrained by fitting the phase-resolved modulations of Cyclotron Resonance Scattering Feature and polarization angle with a simple dipole model and Rotating Vector Model, respectively, yielding roughly consistent results. The changes of χp (the position angle of the pulsar's spin axis on the plane of the sky) between different Main-on observations suggest the possible forced precession of the neutron star crust. Furthermore, a linear association between the energy of Cyclotron Resonance Scattering Feature and polarization angle implies the prevalence of a dominant dipole magnetic field, and their phase-resolved modulations likely arise from viewing angle effects. Reconfigurable intelligence surface (RIS) consists of a large number of low-cost passive reflecting elements has attracted significant attention from communication communities, which is mainly due to its ability to substantially improve the communication performance. In light of this, we develop a three-dimensional geometry-based multiple-input multiple-output propagation model in this article, which is mainly suitable for describing the high-speed railway communications assisted by RIS in macrocell environments, such as train-to-train scenarios. In such propagation model, the waves emitted from the mobile transmitter experience non line of sight propagation links before reaching the mobile receiver, as well as the RIS propagation links before reaching the receiver. We compute the expressions of the RIS-assisted high-speed railway channel propagation properties, for example, spatial-time cross-correlation functions, between different propagation links. Then, we study the temporal autocorrelation functions of the propagation links in the provided propagation model for distinct movement time instants. Analysis shows that the communication performance can be enhanced by rising the number and the size of RIS reflecting elements, and it is validated by numerical simulation results. Ti 3 C 2 T x MXene has been regarded as a promising candidate for advanced microwave absorption materials. However, the microwave absorbing performance of Ti 3 C 2 T x MXene is suppressed by the single dielectric loss mechanism and impedance mismatch because of the high conductivity. To effectuate a good absorption capability of Ti 3 C 2 T x MXene, this paper constructs a heterostructured Co/Ti 3 C 2 T x hybrid by atomic layer deposition of magnetic Co nanoparticles on Ti 3 C 2 T x nanosheets. The microstructures, magnetism, and microwave absorption behaviors of the Co/Ti 3 C 2 T x hybrids are investigated systematically. The results show that the frequency-dependent electromagnetic parameters of the Ti 3 C 2 T x MXene become tunable by controlling the content of Co decorations, which are conducive to both magnetic loss and impedance matching. The Co/Ti 3 C 2 T x hybrid with ultralow Co decoration content (only 1.52 wt%) achieves the minimum reflect loss of −54.32 dB at a thin matched thickness of 1.29 mm, and the corresponding effective absorption bandwidth with reflection loss below −10 dB reaches 4.29 GHz. The atomic layer deposited magnetic metal nanostructures provides an effective strategy for preparing MXene-based hybrids which not only have high absorption efficiency but also significantly reduce the use of magnetic metals. Lithium (Li) metal is regarded as the most desirable anode candidates for high-energy–density batteries by virtue of its lowest redox potential and ultrahigh theoretical specific capacity. However, uncontrollable Li dendritic growth, infinite volume variation and unstable solid electrolyte interface (SEI) ineluctably plague its commercialization process. Herein, the three-dimensional (3D) nanofiber functional layers with synergistic soft-rigid feature, consisting of tin oxide (SnO 2)-anchored polyvinylidene fluoride (PVDF) nanofibers, are directly electrospun on copper current collector. This strategy can effectively regulate uniform Li deposition and strengthen SEI stability through the dual effect of physical accommodation and chemical ionic intervention. On the one hand, the nanofiber interlayers with excellent electrolyte affinity and well-distributed Li+ transport pathways can promote uniform Li+ flux distribution and large-size Li deposition. On the other hand, the rigid SnO 2 contributes to reducing Li nucleation overpotential and stabilizing SEI layer assisted by its spontaneous reaction with Li. As a result, the smooth and dense Li deposition is achieved by such soft-rigid nanofiber interlayers, thereby extending the cycling life and improving the safety application of Li metal batteries. In this study, binderless WC ceramics with grain size of 210 nm were obtained under a high-pressure of 200 MPa at a relatively low temperature of 1550 °C. The effects of high pressure on the densification behavior and grain growth were investigated. Increasing the sintering pressure accelerated the densification rate, decreased the sintering temperature, and inhibited grain growth. HRTEM observations revealed highly stable Σ 2 grain boundaries and numerous microscopic defects (stacking faults and Lomer-Cottrell locks), with dislocation density up to 4.26×1015 m−2. High-pressure strengthening effect enhanced the hardness and wear resistance by inducing plastic deformation. The high-pressure sintered WC ceramics exhibited enhanced hardness of 32.19 GPa and excellent tribological properties. Compared with the low-pressure samples, the hardness increased by 23%, the friction coefficient reduced by 30%, and the wear resistance improved by 63%, which were mainly related to the fine-grained microstructure, stable Σ 2 grain boundaries, and high-density defects. Background: Angiostrongyliasis is a zoonotic parasitic disease caused by the rat lungworm Angiostrongylus cantonensis. The intermediate hosts of A. cantonensis are gastropods, and snail species such as Pomacea canaliculata play a key role in the transmission of human angiostrongyliasis. Detecting A. cantonensis infection in snails is an important component of epidemiological surveillance and the control of angiostrongyliasis. Methods: In this study, a new method for diagnosing A. cantonensis infection in gastropods was developed by recovering larvae from the buccal cavity of three snail species. The entire buccal cavity of a snail was extracted, and the tissue was pressed between two microscope slides to observe whether A. cantonensis larvae were present. Our new method was compared with traditional pathogenic detection methods of lung microscopy, tissue homogenization, and artificial digestion. We artificially infected 160 P. canaliculata, 160 Cipangopaludina chinensis, and 160 Bellamya aeruginosa snails with A. cantonensis. Then, the four different detection methods were used to diagnose infection in each snail species at 7, 14, 21, and 28 days post exposure. Results: We found no significant difference in the percentages of infected P. canaliculata snails using the four methods to detect A. cantonensis larvae. The radula pressing method had a mean detection rate of 80%, while the lung microscopy (81.3%), tissue homogenization (83.8%), and artificial digestion (85%) methods had slightly greater detection rates. Similarly, the percentages of infected C. chinensis snails that were detected using the radula pressing (80%), tissue homogenization (82.1%), and artificial digestion (83.8%) methods were not significantly different. Finally, the percentages of infected B. aeruginosa snails that were detected using the radula pressing (81.3%), tissue homogenization (81.9%), and artificial digestion (81.4%) methods were not significantly different. These results showed that the radula pressing method had a similar detection rate to traditional lung microscopy, tissue homogenization, or artificial digestion methods. Conclusions: This study demonstrates a new method for the qualitative screening of gastropods that act as intermediate hosts of A. cantonensis (and other Angiostrongylus species), provides technical support for the control of human angiostrongyliasis, and furthers research on A. cantonensis. Semantic segmentation of point clouds of ancient buildings plays an important role in Historical Building Information Modelling (HBIM). As the annotation task of point cloud of ancient architecture is characterised by strong professionalism and large workload, which greatly restricts the application of point cloud semantic segmentation technology in the field of ancient architecture, therefore, this paper launches a research on the semantic segmentation method of point cloud of ancient architecture based on weak supervision. Aiming at the problem of small differences between classes of ancient architectural components, this paper introduces a self-attention mechanism, which can effectively distinguish similar components in the neighbourhood. Moreover, this paper explores the insufficiency of positional encoding in baseline and constructs a high-precision point cloud semantic segmentation network model for ancient buildings—Semantic Query Network based on Dual Local Attention (SQN-DLA). Using only 0.1% of the annotations in our homemade dataset and the Architectural Cultural Heritage (ArCH) dataset, the mean Intersection over Union (mIoU) reaches 66.02% and 58.03%, respectively, which is an improvement of 3.51% and 3.91%, respectively, compared to the baseline. Background: The aberrant expression of phosphofructokinase-platelet (PFKP) plays a crucial role in the development of various human cancers by modifying diverse biological functions. However, the precise molecular mechanisms underlying the role of PFKP in head and neck squamous cell carcinoma (HNSCC) are not fully elucidated. Methods: We assessed the expression levels of PFKP and c-Myc in tumor and adjacent normal tissues from 120 HNSCC patients. A series of in vitro and in vivo experiments were performed to explore the impact of the feedback loop between PFKP and c-Myc on HNSCC progression. Additionally, we explored the therapeutic effects of targeting PFKP and c-Myc in HNSCC using Patient-Derived Organoids (PDO), Cell Line-Derived Xenografts, and Patients-Derived Xenografts. Results: Our findings indicated that PFKP is frequently upregulated in HNSCC tissues and cell lines, correlating with poor prognosis. Our in vitro and in vivo experiments demonstrate that elevated PFKP facilitates cell proliferation, angiogenesis, and metastasis in HNSCC. Mechanistically, PFKP increases the ERK-mediated stability of c-Myc, thereby driving progression of HNSCC. Moreover, c-Myc stimulates PFKP expression at the transcriptional level, thus forming a positive feedback loop between PFKP and c-Myc. Additionally, our multiple models demonstrate that co-targeting PFKP and c-Myc triggers synergistic anti-tumor effects in HNSCC. Conclusion: Our study demonstrates the critical role of the PFKP/c-Myc positive feedback loop in driving HNSCC progression and suggests that simultaneously targeting PFKP and c-Myc may be a novel and effective therapeutic strategy for HNSCC. Arbitrary disposal of plastic waste into landfills and oceans can disturb the ecological system and even challenge human survival. Centralized plastic recycling process only works for selected types of plastics (e.g., polyethylene) with limited contribution (<10%), because of high infrastructure requirement. Comparatively, photoreforming of plastic waste for commodity and fuels production is much more facile and decentralizable, and thus holds great potential to mitigate the plastic waste challenge. To this end, a fully solar powered photoelectrochemical system is developed to selectively upgrade polyimide waste (often appears in electronic waste) into valuable commodity chemicals, including succinic acid, acetic acid, and formic acid, and cogenerating green hydrogen fuels. It is also demonstrated that one of the key monomer, pyromellitic acid, and the precious metals (in electronic waste) can be fully recycled. This proof‐of‐concept demonstration provides a new viewpoint for designing decentralized photoelectrochemical system for simultaneous plastic waste upcycling and renewable fuel synthesis, critical for a sustainable plastic economy. Excessive phosphorus (P) levels can disrupt nutrient balance in plants, adversely affecting growth. The molecular responses of Pennisetum species to high phosphorus stress remain poorly understood. This study examined two Pennisetum species, Pennisetum americanum × Pennisetum purpureum and Pennisetum americanum, under varying P concentrations (200, 600 and 1000 µmol·L− 1 KH2PO4) to elucidate transcriptomic alterations under high-P conditions. Our findings revealed that P. americanum exhibited stronger adaption to high-P stress compared to P. americanum× P. purpureum. Both species showed an increase in plant height and leaf P content under elevated P levels, with P. americanum demonstrating greater height and higher P content than P. americanum× P. purpureum. Transcriptomic analysis identified significant up- and down-regulation of key genes (e.g. SAUR, GH3, AHP, PIF4, PYL, GST, GPX, GSR, CAT, SOD1, CHS, ANR, P5CS and PsbO) involved in plant hormone signal transduction, glutathione metabolism, peroxisomes, flavonoid biosynthesis, amino acid biosynthesis and photosynthesis pathways. Compared with P. americanum× P. purpureum, P. americanum has more key genes in the KEGG pathway, and some genes have higher expression levels.
