One of the main components of the transmission system is the insulator. The insulator will be exposed to pollutants from the environment that can interfere with the work of the insulator. Based on the problems above, this research aimed to analyze the effect of stub position, the effect of pollutants, and the effect of variations in the shape and size of the leveling electrode on the voltage distribution of the chain insulator and compare the flatness factor. Variations The grading electrodes used are spherical, square, and rectangular. The tests carried out in this study was the insulator's condition in clean conditions, polluted conditions, and changing stub positions using variations in the shape and size of the leveling electrode. The results show that the best effect on equalizing the voltage distribution is by using a round grading electrode with a diameter of 30 cm on an insulator with mild NaCl polluted conditions at stub 1, which is 30.95%. The transmission system is one part of the electric power system that needs to be maintained to achieve service continuity. One of the main components of the transmission system is the insulator. Over time, the insulator is exposed to pollutants from the environment. It can interfere with the work of the insulator. This study aims to analyze the effect of pollutants on the insulator, the effect of stubs on the chain insulator circuit, and the effect of the grading ring electrode on the voltage distribution. This study uses an experimental method, and then the data needed for this research by the experiment in the laboratory. Based on the result analysis, the pollutants attached to the insulator cause the breakdown voltage between the balls to decrease. Meanwhile, the stub whose position has moved causes the breakdown voltage of the insulator at the position after the stub to decrease due to the creepage distance, and the resistance of the insulator decreases, causing the voltage distribution to be more uneven. The increasing rate of environmental pollution from all sectors has significantly impacted decreasing air quality. To solve this problem is necessary to reduce the levels of pollutants in the air. One of the media that can be used is high-voltage electric field technology. This voltage was applied to the electrodes, where the ionization process reduces pollutants in the air. In this study, a portable high-voltage generator was designed, efficient in size, weight, and operation, and inexpensive to manufacture. This high voltage comes from the TV flyback. The test results show that the device can produce a voltage of 14.28kV with a duty cycle of 30% to 61.4kV using a duty cycle of 70%. The high voltage produced can reduce cigarette smoke's carbon monoxide (CO) content. The test results show that the more significant the voltage, the greater the reduction in pollutant levels in the air. The most significant percentage decrease in CO content was obtained at a duty cycle of 70% with an efficiency of 76.3%. In the electric power system, especially in transmission lines, plate insulators are assembled into chain insulators to separate the live parts from the non-voltage parts. Over time, the insulator will be exposed to pollutants from the environment. This attached pollutant will facilitate the emergence of partial discharge on the insulator. In addition to pollutants, rainfall will also affect the partial release of the insulator. Based on this problem, the research analyzes the effect of the angle of installation of the chain insulator until partial discharge occurs in dry conditions, polluted conditions, and wet conditions after being given a certain intensity of rain. The results of the analysis of this study concluded that the more horizontal the angle of insulator installation, the lower the voltage supplied to the insulator to cause partial discharge. This occurred in the dry condition insulator and polluted and wet with NaCl pollutant.
