Objective Design Patients and Measurements Results Conclusions Few studies exist on trends in papillary thyroid cancer (PTC) survival and mortality according to stage and level of socioeconomic status.Nationwide cohort study.Patients diagnosed with PTC during 2000–2015 in Denmark were identified from the Danish Cancer Registry and followed until the end of 2020. We evaluated 5‐year all‐cause mortality and relative survival according to stage and 5‐year mortality rates with corresponding average annual percentage changes (AAPCs) according to stage and education. Finally, we assessed the association between several factors and mortality of PTC using Cox regression.For the 2006 cases of PTC diagnosed during 2000–2015, relative survival tended to increase and mortality rates tended to decrease for all stages. For localized PTC, mortality rates tended to decrease among individuals with medium education (AAPC = −7.0, 95% confidence interval [CI]: −14.7 to 1.5), but showed an increasing pattern among individuals with long education (AAPC = 19.8, 95% CI: −4.2 to 50.0). For nonlocalized PTC, mortality rates showed a decreasing tendency among individuals with medium and long education (AAPC = −5.5, 95% CI: −13.2 to 2.9, and AAPC = −10.4, 95% CI: −20.8 to 1.4, respectively). Being diagnosed with PTC in a more recent calendar period and long education were associated with a lower mortality rate in the Cox regression analysis.A pattern of an increasing relative survival and decreasing mortality rates of PTC across all stages was seen in Denmark during 2000–2015. The decreasing pattern in mortality rates was most evident in individuals with localized stage and medium education, and in individuals with nonlocalized stage and medium or long education. The objective of this study was to determine the best method to establish optimal timing of fungicide applications on corn (Zea mays), soybean (Glycine max), and bean plants (Phaseolus vulgaris), by comparing results based on the calendar versus agrometeorological data. The experimental design was arranged in randomised blocks with three treatments and eight repetitions. Treatments consisted of control (without application of fungicides), application of fungicides based on the calendar (after establishing the need for chemical control, sprays occurring at intervals of 15 days), or by indication of the AgroDetecta™ programme (based on agrometeorological data). The variables evaluated were: disease incidence and severity, area under the disease progress curve (AUDPC), income components, and economic return. Among the integrated disease management tools investigated, it was concluded that chemical control improves crop health and yield for corn, soybean, and bean plants, especially when timing of treatment application is based on the calendar. A significant share of our data are timeseries. Time can occur as the single dimension, or further (such as spatial) dimensions can be present as well, leading to multidimensional data such as 3D x/y/t satellite image timeseries or 4D x/y/z/t atmospheric simulations like weather forecasts. However, no user would like to count “seconds since epoch,” rather we all prefer calendar notation. Libraries, SQL, etc. support calendar arithmetics, yet more advanced functionality is needed. Instead of demoting advanced calendar functionality to low‐level coding, it seems desirable to have semantic support for calendars at high‐level, declarative query level. We present a conceptual framework for temporal modeling which allows the expression of a wide range of temporal queries. It smoothly enhances existing calendar handling by adding two new data and query description parameters, period of validity, and granularity. While our work is embedded in spatio‐temporal geo services, it can be incorporated in a non‐breaking manner in any environment needing calendar addressing. This article presents new tablets and fragments from the British Museum that belong to the collection of Early Dynastic and Sargonic tablets discovered at Ur. Having been overlooked for almost a century, the tablets offer new insights into Early Dynastic and Sargonic archives from Ur. Most significant among the contributions are the names of several months demonstrating that the Early Semitic calendar was in use in Ur during the Early Dynastic IIIa period. In Ethiopia, improved hive technology dissemination was started before five-decades. However, the adoption of improved beekeeping technology is still very low. This study was conducted with the main objectives to evaluating improved beekeeping adoption level and honey yields of different hives and identification of major honey bee plants and flora calendar in the Gedeo zone, South Ethiopia. Three districts were selected purposively based on beekeeping potential and the number of improved hives own by beekeepers. The data was collected from 180 respondents using cross-sectional survey. The data was analyzed by using descriptive statistics such as mean, frequency and percentage and ANOVA. The result shown that the compositions of disseminated hives in the entire sampled respondents were 286, 476, 121 and 1494 Zander hive, Kenyan top bar hive (KTBH), Mud/Ethio-Ribrab hive (ERH) and Traditional hives respectively. Traditional beekeeping was the dominant system with 63% and intermediate followed by 25%, while modern beekeeping was only 12%. Based on overall mean honey yield, there was no significant difference (P = 0.244) between Zander and KTBH. However, the average honey yield of these improved hives were significantly (P<0.05) higher than Mud/ERH and Traditional hives. Gedeo zone had rich floral resource and diverse floral calendar. Hygenia abyssinica, Bidens ghedoensis, Erythrinia abyssinica, Eucalyptus species, Cordia africana, Coffee arabica, Vernonia species, Susbania susban and Persea americana were major honey bee flora in Gedeo zone. February-March was major honey harvesting season while May-July and October-December respectively were minor honey harvesting periods. Nevertheless, the majority of beekeepers have been practicing honey harvesting once a year from all hives due to lack of awareness and practical skills. Therefore, we recommend that the local government should focus on educating beekeepers to enable them utilizing exhaustively the opportunities of multi-floral season and improved hive technology to maximize honey yield in the area. Traditional maintenance models usually assume that the time duration required for conducting corrective repairs is negligible for mathematical tractability. In this paper, we propose two new preventive maintenance policies that take non-negligible repair time into consideration: One is a calendar-time-based maintenance policy in which a system should be preventively replaced at either of two predetermined calendar time instants, depending on the system state; and the other is an age-based maintenance policy in which a system should be preventively replaced at a predetermined age. Under both policies, if any failure occurs before replacement, then the system will be repaired. In particular, four repair assumptions—perfect, imperfect, minimal, and worse-than-minimal—that correspond to different repair effectiveness, are considered. We derive the long-run average cost rates for the two maintenance policies under different repair assumptions, respectively, and investigate the existence and uniqueness of the solutions of optimal maintenance decisions. Numerical studies are then conducted to compare the two maintenance policies, providing guidelines on which policy should be adopted by system operators in various scenarios. • Two types of maintenance policies are studied by considering the non-negligible repair time. • The concept of reference time is introduced in constructing maintenance models. • The existence and uniqueness of the solutions of optimal maintenance decisions are investigated. • A thorough comparison of the two maintenance policies is conducted. The Næstved Calendar (Copenhagen, Det Kongelige Bibliotek, E don. var. 52 2º), an illuminated manuscript produced at the Benedictine monastery of St Peder at Næstved (also called Skovkloster) ca. 1228-1250, is known for transmitting historical information in the form of the older Næstved annals, as well as information pertaining to various persons related to the community. However, the composition of the calendar which gives the manuscript its name has received little attention. An analysis of the feasts in the calendar reveals a strong influence from the Low Countries, more specifically the areas today covered by Belgium and Northern France, but little to none of the English and German influence usually seen as typical of high medieval Danish calendars. The article proposes two possible explanations for the calendar's composition: the influence of the Flemish and Northern French connections of the Danish elite in the Valdemar Era (1157-1241), most famously exemplified by members of the Hvide family such as Peder Sunesen (d. 1214), and Næstved's own contacts, forged through the town's position as a centre of trade. In both scenarios, the saints' presence should be seen in the context of greater mobility and increased connections with the continent in the Valdemar Era. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Having multiple installed mobile applications in an Android device consumes Random Access Memory and internal storage and students tend to save more storage. They were using budget-friendly smartphones, which the technology resolves. A class of linear models for describing the capacity paths of lithium‐ion batteries (LIB) is proposed in case of sparse data from a calendar aging experiment. This way the reliability of LIB is monitored and modeled based on degradation data. The introduced family of models allows for random effects and includes tuning parameters, both of which make it a powerful tool for modeling LIB capacities. Because of sparsity of data, a procedure for simulating degradation data based on the model fitted on the sampled data is discussed and illustrated. The construction of modern power system is key to achieving dual carbon goals, where non-intrusive load monitoring (NILM) plays a vital role in enhancing energy utilization efficiency and energy management. For example, to enable prosumers to better understand the extent of their flexible loads for demand response and peer-to-peer trading, it is essential to be aware of the types and states of loads using the method of NILM. To improve the predictive accuracy and implementation effectiveness of NILM technology, this paper proposes a novel NILM method integrating meteorological and calendar features. It delves deeply into the close connection between external factors such as temperature, precipitation, wind speed, and holidays, and the energy consumption of electrical appliances, constructing additional associative mappings in the training of the Denoising Autoencoder (DAE) model. Test results on the UK-DALE public dataset show that the NILM method proposed in this paper has significant advantages over traditional NILM methods that consider only single-dimensional electrical data features, in terms of load pattern recognition and accuracy in load energy consumption monitoring. Today, we have satellite images of Mars with a resolution of up to 24 cm per pixel. The planet has a thin atmosphere compared to Earth's, but its surface is revealing itself to be active and complex. The use of images is an increasingly precise means of investigation for the study of transient phenomena that occur on the surface of the planet. We have developed a dating code that could be useful in the study of such phenomena. Thanks to this dating code, it is possible to immediately understand what season is in progress in the observed area starting from the terrestrial reference date of the photos taken by the orbiters. Some intermediate parameters of this calculation, such as the Martian year and the day of the year, can be equally useful for similar investigations. Satellite study of transient phenomena observable on the surface of Mars can range from geology (wind erosion and sedimentation) to meteorology (wind and phase transitions) to indigenous or non-indigenous biology. The Fasti Antiates Ministrorum Domus Augustae, a large inscription associated with the imperial villa at Antium, is best known for its iteration of the Augustan calendar. In this article, I reassess the fasti in their entirety, focusing on their manner of display and social function. I place special emphasis on the section of the inscription, largely overlooked, that contains the annual records of magistrates who led the voluntary association that commissioned the inscription, a detailed record of two decades of local history. The association revealed in these records worked to bestow honors on its members, offering them prestige within and beyond the household, and also acted to censure them. Because the fasti identify most magistrates by job title, they also provide invaluable information about the villa's workforce, composed of enslaved people and freedmen; the document provides a valuable counterpoint to other testimonia for occupations, largely funerary. Manual laborers and domestics appear with greater frequency in the fasti than they do in occupational inscriptions from funerary contexts, while administrators, abundant in funerary contexts, form a minority. Importantly, the magistrates' list reveals that the association was a group in which the "sub-clerical grades" of imperial slaves and freedmen could accrue prestige and wield authority as readily as their overseers. In the community reflected in the fasti, power derived not from job status within a workplace hierarchy, but from social standing among peers--acquired and maintained (or lost) over decades of service. Design and management of events and festivals will create a new wave in the future of tourism education while they lead tourism transformation and innovation. Children's festivals and events are tributes to the sound of children's voices and can be a solution for attracting tourists to a destination, creating joy and happiness in these destinations. The aim of this study is to design an event calendar as an educational tool for kids in the city of Isfahan, Iran. A qualitative method (thematic analysis using MAXQDA) was applied in this research. Analysis of the data indicated 31 subthemes. Further analysis identified that historical-cultural events, environmental and agricultural events, children and health, literary festivals for children, art, sports and entertainment were determined as the main themes which are appropriate for designing the kids' calendar in Isfahan. Instruments and tables in Regiomontanus' calendar published in 1474 are analysed and explained. It is shown that Regiomontanus used the Alfonsine Tables corrected for the longitude time difference between Toledo and Nuremberg. It is also shown that for the syzygy and eclipse times he used apparent solar times. The syzygy tables of George Peurbach may have been used to correct from mean to true syzygies. The calendar also contains an instrument for converting between equal and unequal times, a volvelle for finding the true longitude of the Moon, a quadrant tool for the construction of a horizontal sundial, and a universal vertical sundial. A second-cycle Black-headed Gull (Chroicocephalus ridibundus), a rare to casual visitor in western North America, remained at Anchorage, Alaska, from 16 July through 17 September 2023, providing a unique opportunity to track and document most stages of its second prebasic molt into definitive (adult) basic plumage. I estimated that the Anchorage bird required approximately 3 to 3.5 months (early/ mid-June through late September) to complete the molt of its primaries. This is notably longer than the “average” 2.5 months stated for second-cycle Black-headed Gulls in several publications, but consistent with the duration and calendar limits reported by others for the entire species (mid-May/June through September). The start and duration of rectrix molt relative to the stage of primary molt closely matched that described for gulls in general, and specifically for predefinitive Bonaparte’s (C. philadephia) and Western (Larus occidentalis) gulls. When first observed in mid-July, the Anchorage bird had a white tail, as in definitive plumage, a trait infrequent in first-cycle Black-headed Gulls; then it molted the tail again through August. Although Black-headed Gulls occurring in western North America have been presumed to originate from eastern Asia, the timing of the Anchorage bird’s primary molt closely matched that published for second-cycle Black-headed Gulls in Europe, which has reported to be earlier—though molt schedules of Charadriiformes at the population level are highly variable. There is valuable information that can be obtained beyond using a fixed crop calendar with coarse spatial resolution. Knowing the dynamics of the timing and location in which a particular crop is planted and harvested, with an annual temporal resolution and a fine spatial resolution, is crucial not only for monitoring crop conditions and production but also for understanding crop management under changing climates. In this study, the Normalized Difference Vegetation Index (NDVI) was utilized to develop a historical crop calendar for paddy in Indonesia with a 1 km resolution from 2001 to 2021. The result of this study is the first dynamic crop calendar that includes information about the planting, peak, and harvesting dates, as crop growth indicators, derived from the analysis of NDVI value fluctuations. Additionally, this dataset also includes the total number of cropping seasons each year. In Indonesia, there are intensive agricultural activities, including two dry cropping seasons that occur after the wet cropping season. However, this dataset is limited only to crops grown during the dry seasons, which typically begin in February and June. This dataset offers significant information at a finer spatiotemporal resolution to enable studies on agricultural fields undergoing climate change, although it is more country–specific than the other established dataset. The annual crop calendar dataset from 2001 to 2021 underscores the significance of examining the variability in cropping seasons over the years. This exploration aims to deepen our comprehension of the interplay between cropping seasons, climatic indicators, and even the social factors influencing farmers' decisions. Furthermore, presented at a 1 km resolution, this dynamic crop calendar underscores the need for a more precise representation of diverse cropping intensities and seasons, particularly within small and fragmented agricultural areas. Every season, the international football calendar contains periods reserved for a series of so-called special matches including international friendly or official matches played by national teams. All these periods are called "FIFA reserved dates" in the calendar and generally cause domestic competitions to shut down for some days. Such interruptions of leagues might generate different effects or externalities on the performance of players, clubs or even on the competition itself. While a number of studies focus on the effect of players' absence on teams performance, this paper contributes to the literature by specifically evaluating the effect of the "FIFA reserved dates" on football outcomes. Using data for four seasons from the "big five" European leagues, I find evidence that the outcomes distribution in those matches played after a "FIFA reserved date" becomes more balanced, thus increasing the uncertainty of outcome. This article recommends institutional changes to higher education related to time, learning, and risk that would better serve the contemporary student population and increase opportunities for life-long and interdisciplinary learning. To begin, the changing demographic of university students will be outlined, along with suggestions about how traditional institutional arrangements are no longer conducive to optimal learning environments. Next, a review of the history of the academic year will be provided, that will show a snapshot of post-secondary academic calendars in Canada. Relatedly, a discussion of the potential drawbacks and benefits to accelerated courses will be deliberated, as well as the role of risk in terms of how this shapes students’ course selection. Finally, an example of a pilot program at McMaster University, a large research-intensive university in Ontario, Canada, which is specifically designed to account for the pitfalls outlined above, will be discussed. Taken together, it will be argued that having full-course offerings on a year-round basis, providing various options for course lengths, and adjusting evaluations to reduce students’ conceptions of ‘risk’ will better adapt institutes of higher education for the twenty-first century.

With the advancement of science and technology, there is growing demand for a lunar calendar to determine the start of lunar months. This would result in having Eid celebrated on the same day in Pakistan, at least. It is argued that since we rely on science in many other areas, there is no harm in relying on it for determining the moon's phases. Well-known religious scholar Allama Javed Ghamdi shares this view and believes that if astronomers use technology to create a lunar calendar, it should be trusted. In the era of technology, relying on the sighting of the moon to start the month poses several difficulties. While there are benefits to using a calendar, according to traditional beliefs, Ramadan and Eid cannot take place without moon sighting, as it is set as a rule in Shari'ah. The crucial aspect in this context is the "birth of the moon." To fully understand this issue, it is important to consider the difference. This article aims to clarify this difference and also addresses the topic of whether a "unity of vision" is possible, meaning if it's possible to have Eid celebrated on the same day worldwide, and if the vision of Makkah can be considered as the vision of the world.

إحياء المهرجانات المصرية القديمة كمنتج سياحي أصيل [AR] تعد المهرجانات من المكونات الأساسية لصناعة السياحة نظرا لأهميتها في الترويج للمقصد السياحي وتعزيز صورته، وأصبحت الأصالة من العناصر الرئيسية التي تؤثر بشكل مباشر على التصنيف العالمي للمنطقة المزارة. وبالرغم من تزايد أعداد الباحتين والدراسين لمفهوم الأصالة في السياحة إلا أن تجربة المهرجانات القديمة لم يتم التطرق إليها. استنادا على تلك الفجوة البحثية، تهدف الدراسة إلى إلقاء الضوء علي الأصالة المتحققة من المهرجانات المصرية القديمة عن طريق دراسة نوعية لتحديد كيفية توظيف تلك الأحداث كوسيلة لترويج السياحة في مصر. وجدير بالذكر أن المهرجانات كانت معروفة في مصر منذ العصور القديمة بل ويمكن القول أن كل معبد كان لديه قائمة من الاحتفالات. ورغم ذلك يلاحظ أن أجندة المناسبات الحالية تكاد تخلو من هذه الأحداث، لذا تسعي هذه الدراسة إلى التعرف على العوامل التي تعوق تطور سياحة الأحداث الخاصة من خلال اللقاءات مع عدد من المسؤولين في قطاع السياحة. وطبقا لتصريحاتهم، فإنه بالرغم من إقامة كثير من المناسبات إلا أن عدد قليل منها يحقق الهدف المطلوب سواء فيما يتعلق بالتسويق أوالتخطيط الاستراتيجي أوالتمويل وإنه ربما يرجع ذلك إلى إلا افتقاد الإدارة المهنية، فضلا عن أن التقويم الملائم لمابعد الحدث سواء للعوائد الاقتصادية أو الحضور غالبا لايتم. كما سعت الدراسة إلى تحديد مفهوم الأصالة لدى السائحين من خلال دراسة مسحية على عينة من زائرى مهرجان تعامد الشمس بأبوسمبل. وأشارت النتائج إلى أن العينة عبرت عن التجارب الفريدة من نوعها بطرق عديدة، لكن الغالبية اتفقت على أن هذا المهرجان تحديدا كان فريدا. لذا يجب على منظمي الأحداث في مصر الاستفادة من تراثهم العريق وأحياء المناسبات المصرية القديمة لتطوير وتنويع المنتج السياحي. [EN] Festivals are one of the essential components of the tourism industry due to their importance in promoting destinations and enhancing the region's image. Authenticity has become one of the main elements that directly affect the classification of the visited country at the global level. Despite the growing number of researchers looking at the concept of authenticity in tourism, the experience of ancient festivals has not yet been investigated.Based on the previously mentioned research gap, the current study aims to shed light on the perceived authenticity of Egyptian ancient festivals via a qualitative study, Ancient festivals could be a conduit to promote tourism in Egypt. Although festivals have been known in Egypt since ancient times, and it can be said that every temple had a list of celebrations, the modern Egyptian calendar is almost devoid of these types of events. This study investigates the factors that hinder the development of special events tourism through interviews with a number of officials in the tourism sector. The study also seeks the perceived authenticity of the Egyptian ancient festivals via a qualitative study about the visitors to the Sun Festival. According to the declarations of tourism officials, despite a large number of festivals very few events were engaged in goal setting, marketing, strategic planning, and structured fund-raising ventures- this may be due to the lack of managerial experience. Moreover, proper evaluations of attendance and economic consequences were frequently unavailable. The results of the study indicated that attendees felt differently about their experiences in many ways, but the majority agreed that the event was authentic. Event Planners in Egypt should take advantage of their ancient historical roots and use them to develop and diversify touristic product offerings.

Commissioned by the Council of Castile, the Sancha publishing house located at Madrid's Aduana Vieja printed a yearly series of calendar-almanacs for 1780–1796, both in sewn octavo and two-sheet, wall-calendar folio versions. The censorship file initiated after a denunciation for obscenity and subsequent partial destruction of the original 1792 calendar, due to the inclusion of 'obscene' content, allows us to reconstruct the production and commercialization processes of these hitherto unknown calendars, and visualize their extensive print runs which facilitated wide consumption in all classes of society. Silicon oxide‐graphite (SiOx‐G) composites are promising anode materials for building practical high‐energy Li‐ion batteries. To acquire long and safe operation of battery, extensive efforts are made to maintain stable Li storage of SiOx‐G against materials aging and the accompanied performance fade. While previous studies mostly focus on the cycling aging, the calendar aging occurred during battery storage at a high state of charge or high temperature has not received sufficient attention. In this work, a mechanism study on the calendar aging chemistry of fully lithiated SiOx‐G electrodes in half‐cells both at ambient and high temperature (60 °C) is performed. Unmodified SiOx is employed as active materials to inspect the change of thermodynamics properties in the bulk and at interfaces. By excluding the interference from cathode, it is revealed that besides aggravated parasitic reactions happening at interface, Li migration from the lithiated graphite to the vicinal SiOx particles is also responsible for calendar aging of SiOx‐G electrodes, and high‐temperature storage notably accelerates the aging process. This work enriches the fundamental understandings about the multifactor‐coupled aging process of anode materials and sheds lights on rational materials design toward improved calendar life of a high‐energy rechargeable battery. The Old Babylonian administrative calendar always consisted of thirty days, regardless of early moon sightings. The ud.da.gíd.da days, viewed by some as days to be excluded due to an early moon sighting, were not used to shorten the month; rather, they denoted the number of days when no rations were distributed. Background: Headache calendars are essential tools in monitoring changes in headache frequency and type. They are used in clinical practice for long-term monitoring, but their validation remains limited. The aim of this study was to validate the use of a digital calendar in monitoring single migraine and tension-type headache attacks. Methods: From July 2022 to February 2023, patients diagnosed with migraine and tension-type headache were enrolled. The validation of the digital calendar involved the comparison of self-reported single headache attacks in the digital calendar with the diagnostic headache diary based on the ICHD-3 criteria for migraine and tension-type headache. Sensitivity and specificity were calculated to assess reliability, and the level of agreement was calculated using kappa statistics. Results: This study included 30 patients (87% women) diagnosed with migraine and tension-type headache. The level of agreement in the classification of a single migraine attack revealed a sensitivity of 82% and a specificity of 78%, representing a substantial level of agreement (κ = 0.60). The classification of a single tension-type headache attack revealed a sensitivity of 84% and a specificity of 72%, with a moderate level of agreement (κ = 0.54). Conclusions: The digital calendar proves effective in monitoring single headache attacks in patients with migraine and tension-type headache. In clinical practice, we recommend using the digital calendar as a monitoring tool for headache patients, as they can accurately identify true migraine and tension-type headache days. Gwansanggam Jejo (觀象監提調) were in charge of Gwansanggam (The office for Observation of Natural Phenomenon) along with Yeongsa (領事). King Jeongjo appointed Gwansanggam Jejo in the hodae (互對) manner during the first half of his rule, but in the second half, he appointed them in the sanghwan (相換) method of changing the positions of ministers or in the teukji (特旨) method of appointment, specifically considering their expertise. At this time, Jejo were appointed when more than half were senior rank two (正二品) officials, and more than 90% were from Hanseong (漢城) and its suburbs, and were from the former Yeongsa and Jejo families. In the field of astronomy, Gwansanggam Jejo led the publication of various calendars, such as Cheonseryeok (千歲歷) and Imja year (壬子年, 1792) Supplementary Calendar, which also increased the supply of calendars. Gwansanggam Jejo Seo Ho-su (徐浩修) selected Kim Yeong (金泳), and instructed him to build astronomical instruments to calculate the accurate time, to write related books, and publish Gukjoyeoksanggo (國朝曆象考). In the fields of Geumlu (禁漏) and Myeonggwahak (命課學), talented Gwansanggam Jejo also participated in systematizing the two organizations. In particular, they placed Myeonggwahak on the level of an astronomical organization. The Bulgarian parliamentary system came into being with the formation of the First National Assembly in the fall of 1879. Political inexperience, constitutional opposition, as well as disagreements between the monarch, parliament and executive led to the first political crisis in the country, which had several possible outcomes. Ultimately, the idea was embraced that it was necessary to seek the vote of the people once again, in order to strike a balance between the three disputing authorities. The young state administration managed to develop what was achieved and to provide conditions for Bulgarian citizens to successfully and democratically declare their intention. The Second National Assembly was established after one general election and two additional elections were held for a period of one calendar year. The territorial scope of the electoral colleges was improved, and access to the polls and integrity of the electoral process were ensured. The vote took place in accordance with the Provisional Rules for the Election of Representatives to the First Ordinary National Assembly, adopted in April 1879. However, the election results unequivocally showed that the large voter turnout sought through them could not be achieved, and that the high electoral threshold on the first day of the vote was unrealistic and therefore necessary to be removed. Violations in the electoral process remained almost the same as those established during the vote for the previous Assembly, but quite frequently overexposed or neglected for political purposes. The electoral process related to the Second National Assembly triggered a rapid and definitive formation of the Liberals and Conservatives’ party structures at both the national and regional levels. Silicon (Si) anodes are a promising candidate for increasing the energy density of lithium (Li)-ion batteries for electric vehicles. However, they have recently been identified as having poor calendar life that is insufficient for commercial needs, in addition to the well-known issue of their poor cycle life resulting from large volume expansion. Here, a specially designed protocol with variable rest periods between intermittent cycling is used to evaluate the impact of the mechanical disruption of Si and solid electrolyte interphase (SEI) from cycling on calendar aging measurements. Si was found to undergo more mechanical degradation during calendar aging with intermittent cycling than graphite. However, Si anode capacity fade was still dominated by time, especially for rest periods greater than or equal to 1 month between cycling. Postmortem dQ/dV half-cell analysis indicated this was mainly due to Li inventory loss and an increase in electrode resistance. Isothermal microcalorimetry further demonstrated that Si passivation is more disrupted than graphite passivation with intermittent cycling and suggested that there may be a chemical buildup of a detrimental species in the electrolyte, leading to a large spike in heat after the Si and SEI are disrupted by cycling.
