To understand the environmental determinants of physical activity (PA), precise spatial localization is crucial. This cross-sectional study focuses on the spatiotemporal distribution of PA among Czech adolescents (n = 171) using Global Positioning System loggers and accelerometers. The results showed that adolescents spent most of their time in sedentary behavior, with 57.2% and 58.5% of monitored time at home and school, respectively. The park and playground had the lowest proportion of sedentary behavior but also the lowest amount of moderate to vigorous PA (MVPA). However, when considering the time spent in each domain, the highest proportion of MVPA was seen in publicly accessible playgrounds (13.3% of the time). Chi-square analysis showed that the relative distribution of different PA intensities did not differ across spatial domains. Based on these results, the authors propose 2 key strategies for increasing MVPA in adolescents: Increase the time spent in activity-supportive environments, such as parks and playgrounds, and design techniques to increase MVPA at home and school settings. Purpose: This preliminary study examined the influence of estimated menstrual-cycle (MC) phase on responses to soccer matches and training sessions in preparation for and during the FIFA (Fédération internationale de football association) Women's World Cup 2019. Methods: Twenty outfield players representing a national team were tracked over a 45-day period. External (10-Hz global positioning system; total and distance covered at high-metabolic power [≥20 W·kg−1]) and internal load measures (minutes ≥80% heart-rate maximum, sessional ratings of perceived exertion) were collected during all training and matches, with single-item wellness measures (fatigue, soreness, sleep quality, and sleep duration) collected each morning prior to activity. MC phase was estimated individually via an algorithm, informed from pretournament survey responses and ongoing symptom reporting (FitrWoman). Model comparison statistics were used to determine the impact of estimated MC phase in nonhormonal contraceptive users (n = 16). Results: Sessional rating of perceived exertion responses to total distances ≥5 km were higher during the luteal phase (+0.6–1.0 au; P ≤.0178) versus menstruation (phase 1), but no other observable dose–response trends were observed. Sleep, fatigue, and soreness ratings were not typically associated with MC phase, with the exception of exacerbated fatigue ratings in luteal versus follicular phase 48 hours postmatch (−0.73 au, P =.0275). The increasing use of transportation network companies and delivery services has transformed the utilization of curb space, resulting in a lack of parking and contributing to congestion. No systematic method exists for identifying curb usage patterns, but emerging machine learning technologies and low-tech data sources, such as dashboard cameras mounted on vehicles that routinely travel the area, have the potential of monitoring curb usage. To demonstrate how video data can be used to recognize usage patterns, we conducted a case study on Bancroft Way in Berkeley, CA. The project collected video footage with GPS data from a dashboard camera installed on a shuttle bus that circles the area. We trained a machine learning model to recognize different types of delivery vehicles in the data images, and then used the model to visualize curbside usage trends. The findings include identifying hot spots, analyzing arrival patterns by delivery vehicle type, detecting bus lane blockage, and assessing the impact of parking on traffic flow. The proof-ofconcept study demonstrated that machine learning techniques, when coupled with affordable hardware like a dashboard camera, can reveal curb usage patterns. The data can be used to efficiently manage curb space, facilitate goods movement, improve traffic flow, and enhance safety.

Purpose: In women's rugby, players regularly interchange between the rugby sevens (R7) and rugby union (RU) formats. Yet, the game demands and particularly the physical aspects respective to both formats vary and players must be able to respond accordingly. The aim of this study was to compare peak running demands in R7 and RU players. Methods: A total of 51 international women players participated. HSBC World Sevens Series (n = 19) and Six Nations Rugby Union tournament matches (n = 10) were analyzed for a total of 437 individual match observations. Global positioning systems were utilized to measure total (in meters) and high-speed (above 16 km·h−1, in meters) distance and frequency of accelerations (above 2.5 m·s−2, n) during different rolling-average periods (1–7 min) to obtain peak running activity values. Power law modeling was used to obtain slope and intercept. For all variables, peak values and the value at the 90th percentile (P90) were analyzed. Results: No intercept difference (P =.25; −0.12 ± 0.17) was observed between formats for total distance (161 vs 155 m·min−1). In contrast, R7 players reported a higher intercept (P =.01; −0.29 ± 0.17) for high-speed distance (66 vs 51 m·min−1), while the intercept was higher (P =.01; 0.31 ± 0.20) in RU for accelerations performed (6.1 vs 5.4 n·min−1). Regarding P90, higher values (P <.001) were observed in R7 for total and high-speed distance and accelerations. Conclusions: While peak overall intensity was similar, P90 on the high-speed spectrum was higher in R7. Information on the most demanding match-play periods specific to both women's rugby formats can inform training specificity by tailoring sessions to ensure sufficient exposure to these peak demands and, consequently, aid transitioning between formats. Background: This study adds to the current literature by using a novel device-based method to explore where preschool children are physically active outside of home and childcare settings. This study combined accelerometry with geospatial data to explore the influence of the environment on preschool children's physical activity by objectively identifying the locations where preschool children engage in moderate to vigorous physical activity (MVPA) within and outside of their neighborhood. Methods: Accelerometry, Global Positioning System, and Geographic Information Systems data from 168 preschool children aged 2–5 years were processed in ArcGIS Pro to identify locations (per 25 × 25-m fishnet cell) with high MVPA counts. Locations with high MVPA counts were defined as those with the top 20% of MVPA counts per fishnet cell. The land use for high MVPA count location was determined for 3 domains: <500 m from home, 500 to 1600 m from home, and >1600 m from home. Results: Locations with high MVPA counts <500 m from home were playgrounds (66.6%), schools (16.7%), and parks (16.7%). Locations with high MVPA counts 500 to 1600 m from home included playgrounds (33.3%), nonhome residential (29.6%), childcare centers (11.1%), and parks (3.7%). Locations with high MVPA counts >1600 m from home included nonhome residential (54.7%), sports and recreation centers (11.1%), playgrounds (6.8%), and parks (5.3%). Conclusions: Our findings highlight that local parks and playgrounds provide physical activity opportunities for preschool children, yet beyond the local neighborhood, the homes of others are important locations for preschool children to accumulate MVPA. Summary: The vehicular ad hoc network (VANET) provides a variety of applications and is gaining popularity due to the reuse of network resources. Exact location identification with optimum delay is the demand of all vehicle users. Currently, individuals are utilizing the Global Positioning System (GPS) to ascertain the precise geographical coordinates of a given location. The drawback of GPS technology is its inability to accurately determine location and use GPS in some remote areas. Searching for the location of a particular house randomly incurs a loss of fuel as well as increases delay. This motivates us to propose one automated method through VANET using location service‐based routing for the location identification of a house. The proposed work involves searching for the location of a house using the open‐source MongoDB database, and the operations on the database are performed using the tool Node‐Red. By simulation using SUMO and Network Simulator 2.35, the proposed work is evaluated and compared with existing location service‐based routing like geographic location service (GLS) and hierarchical location service (HLS). The proposed work performs better in terms of routing efficiency (end‐to‐end latency, packet delivery rate), location efficiency (request sends, query success rate, and request travel time), and routing and location overhead (MAC bandwidth consumption). Also, the performance of the proposed work is presented as stable by increasing the number of vehicles. Launch vehicle applications require highly accurate and reliable navigation systems that can withstand the high dynamic conditions of the launch and flight phases. GNSS-aided INS (Inertial Navigation System) is the most popular solution for launch vehicle navigation. However, the accuracy of Global Navigation Satellite System (GNSS) receivers can be compromised by malicious spoofing attacks, which can result in significant safety risks and mission failure. This paper presents a method for identifying and mitigating the spoofing attacks on Global Navigation Satellite System (GNSS) receivers using the independent and simultaneous measurements of the Inertial Navigation System (INS). A state space approach is attempted in this paper with an extended Kalman Filter for identifying the spoofed signals. The well-established method of integrating INS and GNSS data for navigation accuracy improvement is taken as the baseline of this algorithm. The proposed method is an extension of a loosely coupled integration algorithm already established for fusing INS and GNSS data. The extended Kalman filter estimated position and velocity of the receiver is used along with the satellite position and velocity computed from ephemeris to find out the range and range rate of each of the satellites to the receiver. The difference between the estimated range and range rate against the measured range and range rate is considered as filter residual. The filter residuals are taken as the parameter to identify the spoofing. The threshold of filter residuals for range and range rates is the critical parameter that decides the false isolation and missing detection. The threshold is decided based on the environment in which the receiver is operated, the dynamics expected, and the noise model. The algorithms envelopment and simulation studies are done. The simulation tests are completed using a GNSS constellation simulator with spoofed signals. Multipath effect is the main factor limiting the high-precision positioning of Global Navigation Satellite System (GNSS) because it cannot be eliminated by double-difference observations or existing empirical models. Although the receiver antenna technology can reduce the multipath effect, it also brings the cost burden and cannot effectively solve the short-delay multipath error of carrier phase observation. Sidereal filtering (SF) is a common method used to mitigate multipath effect in static positioning mode. However, the coordinate time series may be contaminated by outliers, and satellite orbits may be affected by maneuvers. These will lead to inaccurate estimation of the Multipath Repetition Period (MRP), and even deteriorate the multipath mitigation effect of the SF. To solve these problems, a Sidereal Filtering method with the Satellite Maneuver Detection and Robustness (SFSMDR) is proposed. In this method, based on the Orbital Repeat Time Method (ORTM), the Multipath Repetition Period with the Satellite Maneuvers Detection (MRPSMD) is determined. Furthermore, considering the robustness of median filtering to outliers, the coordinate time series of the first day were preprocessed by the median filtering. After applying the proposed SFSMDR method, experimental results show that the proposed SFSMDR can effectively detect satellite maneuvers. In the absence of satellite maneuvers, there is no need to re-estimate MRP, which can save computational cost to a certain extent. When the coordinate time series on the first day is contaminated by outliers, the positioning accuracy of the MRPSMD for the east and north directions, is decreased by 2.26% and 95.73%, respectively. Background: Recent technological advances have resulted in low-cost GPS loggers that are small enough to be used on a range of seabirds, producing accurate location estimates (± 5 m) at sampling intervals as low as 1 s. However, tradeoffs between battery life and sampling frequency result in studies using GPS loggers on flying seabirds yielding locational data at a wide range of sampling intervals. Metrics derived from these data are known to be scale-sensitive, but quantification of these errors is rarely available. Very frequent sampling, coupled with limited movement, can result in measurement error, overestimating movement, but a much more pervasive problem results from sampling at long intervals, which grossly underestimates path lengths. Methods: We use fine-scale (1 Hz) GPS data from a range of albatrosses and petrels to study the effect of sampling interval on metrics derived from the data. The GPS paths were sub-sampled at increasing intervals to show the effect on path length (i.e. ground speed), turning angles, total distance travelled, as well as inferred behavioural states. Results: We show that distances (and per implication ground speeds) are overestimated (4% on average, but up to 20%) at the shortest sampling intervals (1–5 s) and underestimated at longer intervals. The latter bias is greater for more sinuous flights (underestimated by on average 40% when sampling > 1-min intervals) as opposed to straight flight (11%). Although sample sizes were modest, the effect of the bias seemingly varied with species, where species with more sinuous flight modes had larger bias. Sampling intervals also played a large role when inferring behavioural states from path length and turning angles. Conclusions: Location estimates from low-cost GPS loggers are appropriate to study the large-scale movements of seabirds when using coarse sampling intervals, but actual flight distances are underestimated. When inferring behavioural states from path lengths and turning angles, moderate sampling intervals (10–30 min) may provide more stable models, but the accuracy of the inferred behavioural states will depend on the time period associated with specific behaviours. Releasing farmed mallards into the wild is a common practice in wildlife management worldwide, involving millions of birds annually, and is mainly carried out to increase hunting opportunities. Ringing and previous research show that released mallards have low survival also outside the hunting season, and that survivors may compromise migration habits, morphology, and adaptations of the wild population. Detailed local movements of released mallards have not been studied before, despite the importance of spatiotemporal patterns for understanding the impact of releases and their utility for hunting. We studied local movements in August–October of 11 wild and 44 released mallards caught in the same wetland in southern Sweden and provided with GPS tags. Wild mallards moved longer distances than farmed, over the whole diel cycle, as well as during three out of four separate periods of the day (dawn, day, and dusk). Mallards of both origins moved the longest distances during dusk and dawn, and the shortest during the night. Males and females did not differ significantly in distance moved, regardless of origin (wild versus farmed). Our study demonstrates large differences in spatiotemporal movement patterns between wild and farmed mallards. The typical day of wild mallards included movements between wetlands in the landscape, likely to foraging sites known from previous experience. However, wild mallards frequently returned to the study wetland, probably attracted by supplementary bait. On the other hand, farmed mallards seldom left the study wetland, despite the possibility of accompanying wild birds to other sites. The sedentary behavior of farmed mallards and the fact that wild birds come to join them are both beneficial for hunting purposes. Limited movements of farmed mallards, together with their low survival, could also be positive as they limit hybridization between wild and farmed mallards, as well as dispersal of nutrients. Purpose: This study aimed to examine the effects of ball-in/out-play, ball possession, and different moments of soccer match play on running performance in professional Brazilian soccer players. Methods: Twenty-four professional soccer players were monitored using GPS units during 14 matches from the Brazilian National 4th Division League. Distance- and accelerometry-based measures were calculated by dividing absolute values by the total duration of the matches. SBG Sports® generated a timeline of the match's duration to define ball-in-play, ball-out-play, ball possession, no-ball possession, offensive/defensive organizations, and offensive/defensive transitions. Results: Ball-in-play presented higher running outputs than ball-out-play, and no-ball possession reported greater all match running performance (i.e., high-intensity) variables than ball possession (p < 0.001–0.033; ES = large–very large). Greater running outputs were observed during the offensive/defensive transition compared to offensive/defensive organization (p < 0.001–0.039; ES = medium–very large). Additionally, physical demands were higher in defensive organization/transition vs. offensive organization/transition (p < 0.001–0.041; ES = medium–very large). In contrast, wide midfielders and strikers showed higher distances, high-speed running distance, and accelerations during the offensive transition than the defensive transition (p < 0.001–0.04; ES = very large). Conclusion: In conclusion, different phases and moments of the match of the match-play impact running performance in soccer. Coaches and practitioners should embrace a contextualized understanding of match physical demands, employing a holistic approach, to effectively prescribe training tasks aligned with real match requirements. Prediction using computer vision is getting prevalent nowadays because of satisfying results. The vision of Internet of Vehicles (IoV) expedites Vehicle to everything (V2X) communications by implementing heterogeneous global networks. Road crack is one of the major factors that causes road mishaps and damage to vehicles. To ensure smooth and safe driving, avoiding road crack in transportation planning and navigation is significant. To address this issue, we proposed a novel convolutional neural network (CNN)-based smart transportation system. We showed how to quantify the severity of the cracks. We proposed a post-processing algorithm to provide option to the driver to select the safest road toward the destination. The communication system for the proposed smart transportation system has also been introduced. The performance comparison of a few popular CNN architectures has been investigated. Simulation results showed that Resnet50 algorithm provides significantly high accuracy compared with SqueezeNet and InceptionV3 algorithm in order to detect road cracks for the proposed transportation system. We demonstrated high accuracy of measuring the crack severity via numerical analysis. The integration of the proposed system in next generation smart vehicles can ensure accurate detection of road cracks earlier enough providing the option to select alternate safe route toward a destination as advanced driver assistance service. Migratory connectivity describes the degree to which migratory populations are mixed across space and time. Unlike adults, subadult birds often exhibit distinct migratory patterns and continually refine their migratory behaviour and destinations as they mature. Consequently, the influence of subadult movements on overall migratory connectivity might be different from that of adults. However, current studies on migratory connectivity often overlook population age structures, predominantly focusing on adults. In this study, we investigated the role of subadult movements in shaping population level connectivity by using satellite tracking data from 214 black-necked cranes, Grus nigricollis , in western China. We first assessed the variances in spatial separation in different age cohorts using the continuous temporal Mantel correlation coefficient with data from 17 juveniles tracked in the same year for 3 consecutive years. We then calculated the continuous temporal migratory connectivity for the entire population (comprising various age groups) from 15 September to 15 November and compared the result to that of the family group (consisting of juveniles and adults only). Our results revealed a positive correlation between temporal variation in spatial separation and age after the juveniles separated from the adults, suggesting that subadults may have fine-tuned their migration paths. Moreover, the migratory connectivity of the all-age cohort was moderate (below 0.6) in the winter season, and notably lower than that of the family group during the autumn period. Given the considerable impact of subadults on migratory connectivity, we recommend using data collected from birds across all age categories to improve the precision of population level migratory connectivity estimates. • Black-necked cranes have moderate migratory connectivity. • Spatial separation between individuals varied between age groups. • Individuals of all ages should be included when calculating migratory connectivity. Currently, the 25th solar activity peak has commenced, driving frequent geomagnetic storms and causing irregular disturbances in the global ionosphere, leading to the scintillation of Global Positioning System (GPS) signals, consequently decreasing the accuracy of GPS positioning. Analyzing the patterns of global ionospheric scintillation and changes in GPS positioning accuracy caused by geomagnetic storms is crucial to mitigate the adverse effects of GPS positioning. Current research has primarily concentrated on analyzing the effects of geomagnetic storms on ionospheric scintillation disturbances and GPS positioning interference. However, there is a notable gap in studying the holistic impact of coronal mass ejections (CMEs)-driven geomagnetic storms on GPS performance as an integrated event complex. This study investigates the conditions under which a CME drives a severe geomagnetic storm to elucidate the space weather phenomena associated with CME-driven geomagnetic storms. The ionospheric scintillation induced by the geomagnetic storm is analyzed, while we also examine the accuracy variability in kinematic precision point positioning (PPP) and its possible leading reasons. The research findings suggest that factors such as a high-speed full-halo CME, a southward interplanetary magnetic field (IMF) Bz, and high-speed solar wind contribute to the onset of this geomagnetic storm. Ionospheric scintillation and the decrease in positioning accuracy in low-latitude regions are less pronounced compared to mid- and high-latitude areas. Geomagnetic-storm-induced scintillation increases cycle slips, leading to a decrease in PPP accuracy. Even in the cases where geomagnetic storms do not induce ionospheric scintillation, positioning accuracy can still be affected by cycle slips, deterioration of the precision of the GPS measurements, data outages, and the decrease in the number of available satellites. The flex power technology in satellite navigation systems enhances anti-jamming capabilities but can impact the quality of GPS observations and the accuracy of low Earth orbit determination, such as GRACE Follow-On (GRACE-FO) mission. This study investigates the influence of GPS flex power on Hatch-Melbourne-Wübbena (HMW) linear combinations and GRACE-FO kinematic orbits from January 1 to September 30, 2020. Epoch-differenced K-Band Ranging (KBR) data is introduced in orbit determination during the flex power period to improve both absolute and inter-satellite relative accuracy. The analysis indicates that the influence of early flex power (before February 13, 2020) on HMW combinations and orbits is minimal, whereas the effect of later flex power (after February 14, 2020) is significant: (1) HMW combinations exhibit notable systematic discontinuities even with elevation angles greater than 50 degrees, causing the fixing rate of wide-lane ambiguities to drop from 96 % to 80 %. (2) Kinematic absolute orbits show significant deteriorations of approximately 9 mm and 4 mm in the three-dimensional direction for float and integer ambiguity resolution (FAR and IAR), while relative accuracy of FAR and IAR orbits decreases by 50 % and 46 %, respectively. However, using epoch-differenced KBR (DKBR) data, the accuracy of absolute orbits could be increased by up to 15 % and the accuracy of relative orbits could be improved by at least 69 %, which showcases a positive effect. GPS is using three LEO satellites at a distance of 550 kms from earth. Starlink satellite is emerging satellite system operating at 12/14 GHz (downlink/uplink) frequency for internet services. Wi-Fi services are using ISM band at 2.4 GHz. GPS system is operating at 1.5 GHz. The roadside network frequency is 10.9 GHz. On-board unit will be in each vehicle having all these five antennas. Wireless toll collection systems can be integrated with all these services in the vehicles travelling at expressways or highways. To eliminate congestion and bring in transparency in revenue collection at toll road, this paper proposed an integrated wireless system using five dielectric resonator antennas offering different services for the efficient way of toll collection. Antennas for roadside service, GPS, Wi-Fi and satellite service have been designed to facilitate vehicles and toll authorities. This system is proposed for efficient fare collection depending on the actual distance travelled by the vehicle. This paper has proposed five thermoset microwave material of 12.8 dielectric constant dielectric resonator antennas (DRAs) using hardware prototyped and simulated models, integrated Z-shape cavity (air) for introducing right-hand circular polarization and left-hand circular polarization as novel features, beam steering using three slots with shorting pins. Measured, simulated and theoretical results have been found to be perfectly matching in the proposed DRAs. The beam steering is another novel feature, which is obtained due to structure of DRA by altering positions of ground plane slots. The proposed solution involves utilizing a machine learning model for toll collection, leveraging vehicle images captured during the transaction, and calculating the distance travelled using GPS data. However, its effect on colon cancer and the underlying molecular mechanisms have not been investigated clearly.Cell viability of HT29 and CT26 cells treated with different concentrations of GPS was assessed using the Cell Counting Kit-8 (CCK-8) assay. Western blot assay was used to detect the expression of apoptotic proteins, while the mRNA levels were assessed by real-time quantitative polymerase chain reaction (RT-qPCR). Transwell migration assays were used to examine the migration and invasion of cells.The results revealed that GPS effectively suppressed the proliferation of HT29 and CT26 cells. We demonstrated an upregulation of apoptotic proteins in GPS-treated cells, including Bax, cleaved Caspase-3, and p-p53. GPS treatment also increased the mRNA levels of cytochrome C and Bax. Furthermore, the results showed that GPS treatment concurrently promoted the activation of nucleotide-binding domain leucine-rich family pyrin-containing 3 (NLRP3) inflammasome. Transwell migration assays showed that GPS inhibited the migratory and invasive abilities of colon cancer cells. As expected, inhibition of NLRP3 expression using INF39 attenuated the inhibitory effect of GPS on migration and invasion. Upon NLRP3 inhibition, GPS-induced apoptosis was dramatically alleviated, accompanied by a reduction in the expression of apoptotic proteins.In conclusion, this research provides compelling evidence that the GPS-induced NLRP3 signaling pathway plays a pivotal role in apoptosis of colon cells, suggesting potential clinical implications for the therapeutic intervention of colon cancer. A digitizer is considered one of the fundamental components of an earthquake monitoring system. In this paper, we design and implement a high accuracy seismic digitizer. The implemented digitizer consists of several blocks, i.e., the analog-to-digital converter (ADC), GPS receiver, and microprocessor. Three finite impulse response (FIR) filters are used to decimate the sampling rate of the input seismic data according to user needs. A graphical user interface (GUI) has been designed for enabling the user to monitor the seismic waveform in real time, and process and adjust the parameters of the acquisition unit. The system casing is designed to resist harsh conditions of the environment. The prototype can represent the three component sensors data in the standard MiniSEED format. The digitizer stream seismic data from the remote station to the main center is based on TCP/IP connection. This protocol ensures data transmission without any losses as long as the data still exist in the ring buffer. The prototype was calibrated by real field testing. The prototype digitizer is integrated with the Egyptian National Seismic Network (ENSN), where a commercial instrument is already installed. Case studies shows that, for the same event, the prototype station improves the solution of the ENSN by giving accurate timing and seismic event parameters. Field test results shows that the event arrival time and the amplitude are approximately the same between the prototype digitizer and the calibrated digitizer. Furthermore, the frequency contents are similar between the two digitizers. Therefore, the prototype digitizer captures the main seismic parameters accurately, irrespective of noise existence. The purpose of this research is to investigate the differences in specific GPS variables related to the running performance of amateur football players, comparing data over 15 min periods of time throughout the match, as well as examining differences between players of different positions. The participants are adult male amateur football players from the same team. The analysis of the players' performance was carried out using GPS transmitters over twelve league matches (Amateur Division A) for all starting players (except the goalkeeper) who completed the match without being substituted. The formation was 1-4-3-3, and the players were divided into five categories: Central Defenders (CDs), Full Backs (FBs), Central Midfielders (CMs), Wingers (Ws), and Center Forwards (FWs). Each match was divided into two halves and into periods of fifteen minutes. The analysis concerns the total distance covered within these time periods and in different speed zones. The results showed that CDs covered the shortest distance (p < 0.05), while CMs and Ws covered the longest (p < 0.05) in the most of the 15 min time periods. In both halves, it was observed that players covered greater distances at low intensity in the last 15-min periods. Finally, the total distance covered at low intensity was greater in the last 15-min period of the 2nd half compared to that of the 1st half. The global positioning system (GPS) is widely known for its applications in navigation, timing, and positioning. However, its accuracy can be greatly impacted by the performance of its receiver clocks, especially for a low-cost receiver equipped with lower-grade clocks like crystal oscillators. The objective of this study is to develop a model to improve the stability of a low-cost receiver. To achieve this, a machine-learning-based linear regression algorithm is proposed to predict the differences of the low-cost GPS receiver compared to the precision timing source. Experiments were conducted using low-cost receivers like Ublox and expensive receivers like Septentrio. The model was implemented and the clocks of low-cost receivers were steered. The outcomes demonstrate a notable enhancement in the stability of low-cost receivers after the corrections were applied. This improvement underscores the efficacy of the proposed model in enhancing the performance of low-cost GPS receivers. Consequently, these low-cost receivers can be cost-effectively utilized for various purposes, particularly in applications requiring the deployment of numerous GPS receivers to achieve extensive spatial coverage. In the last decade, spoofing attack has been known as the most dangerous intentional interference in Global Positioning System (GPS). This work suggested an algorithm that performs spoofing mitigation by utilising the Kalman filter. In particular, first, in the tracking stage multi-correlator structure is established and correlators output are investigated by using a Multi-Layer Perceptron Neural Network (MLP NN) in other to detect the spoofing attack, after that, the Kalman filter estimates the DLL discriminator output. The purpose of this study was to examine seasonal changes in match demands in a collegiate women's soccer team. Forty-eight NCAA Division III women soccer athletes (age: 19.5 ± 1.2 years; height: 1.67 ± 0.05 m; body mass: 64.8 ± 7.4 kg; fat-free mass: 50.0 ± 4.5 kg; body fat %: 22.6 ± 6.0) were equipped with wearable global positioning systems with inertial sensors and heart rate (HR) monitors during matches throughout the 2019 (n = 22) and 2021 seasons (n = 26). Players were classified by position: flank player (FP; n = 28), center midfielder (CM; n = 11), and center back fielder (CB; n = 9) and as starters (S, n = 17) or reserves (R, n = 31). Variables included HR, training load, total distance, high-speed distance, distance per minute, and weighted distance. Differences in match and practice session demands were analyzed using linear mixed-effects models with season (2 levels; 2019 and 2021) as a fixed factor, with alpha set to p = 0.05. Data across all matches and training sessions were collapsed and presented as mean ± SD for descriptive purposes and then grouped by session type (i.e., match or training) and position. Athletes traveled more distance at high speeds during match play in the 2021 season compared with 2019 (mean difference, 95% confidence intervals [CI]) (200,95% CI: 104,304 km; p < 0.05) but had a lower training load in 2021 compared with 2019 (-50,95% CI: -63, -36; p < 0.05) during match play. For training sessions, mean HR (4, 95% CI: 2, 5 bpm), total distance (0.5, 95% CI: 0.4, 0.7), distance per minute (5.6, 95% CI: 4.5, 6.7 m⋅min-1), high-speed distance (43,95% CI: 43,18,67 m), high accelerations (8.6,95% CI: 5.4,11.8 n), and high accelerations per minute (0.1, 95% CI: 0.1, 0.1 n⋅min-1) were all higher in 2021 compared with 2019 (p < 0.05). We comment on a recent study (Vasenkov et al. in Dokl Biol Sci 513:395–399, 2023, https://doi.org/10.1134/S0012496623700746) presenting the movement paths of three greater noctule bats (Nyctalus lasiopterus), two juveniles and an adult, tracked from Russia in September–October 2020 and 2021, with particular emphasis on the unprecedented straight-line migration of a juvenile male to Italy. Notably, the juvenile's extraordinary 2515 km migration marks the longest recorded (as the crow flies) movement in a bat species. We argue that the two juveniles may represent cases of dispersal. Despite the attention garnered by Vasenkov et al.'s findings, caution is warranted in interpreting the broader migration picture. The paper's dissemination underscores a potential oversimplification, neglecting key insights from recent work conducted in Italy that documented the year-round presence, hibernation, and parturition of N. lasiopterus in an area of the Friuli Venezia-Giulia region where the juvenile male tracked from Russia stopped over. Besides, inferring the existence of migratory routes based on small numbers of tracked bats is insufficient. The oversight of these findings may imply a misleading narrative about the species' behaviour, likely representing a case of partial migration, a pattern widespread among migratory bat species. We present a simple method for identification of seasonal components in GPS displacement time series. The method considers two options for the treatment of long series, considering possible variability in the seasonal phases. The method also proposes a bootstrap scheme to deal approximately with series shorter than one period of the seasonal signal. Tests with synthetic data show that the method gives quite acceptable results, so that results from application to real data, although approximate, should be useful considering the inherent uncertainties in the data. Noting the growing trend of urbanisation and the blurring boundary of tourist-resident spaces, this research systematically analyses the mapping and structure of tourist and resident activity spaces, and interprets the tourist-resident interactions through their spatial–temporal behaviours. The spatial ecology of feral horses (Equus ferus f. caballus) in Greece has never been studied before, including home range size and habitat selection. We tracked two mares fitted with global positioning system collars between September 2020 and August 2021 in a portion of Mount Menoikio in Central Macedonia, Northern Greece. We used K-select analysis to assess habitat selection for the study period by combining location data with several environmental variables. The mean home ranges for horses varied from 26.72 km2 (95% Minimum Convex Polygon; SE = 0.442) to 27.84 km2 (95% Kernel Density; SE = 1.83). Both horses selected areas with flat and smooth topography near natural grasslands with high green productivity. Conversely, they avoided areas near broadleaved forests and pastures, as well as at north-facing aspects. Overall, suitable habitats corresponded to a small portion (15.1%) of the available habitat. Simulating these algorithms in a controlled virtual environment helps to identify and address issues before implementation on physical vehicles. The proliferation of gull populations in urban areas has led to an increase in human-gull conflicts, especially in highly populated cities where these opportunistic predators are often considered a nuisance. There is a lack of data regarding the selection of nesting sites by gulls, so management measures at nesting level cannot be implemented. Here, we investigated the main environmental factors that explain the nesting preferences of the yellow-legged gull (Larus michahellis) in urban areas, using the population in the city of Barcelona (NE Spain) as study model. We conducted an integrated analysis that combines micro-scale habitat selection assessments of 148 urban nesting sites with a macro-scale assessment of gull movements derived from GPS tracking of breeding yellow-legged gulls. We also analysed the type and abundance of litter in nests and main factors related to this. Nests were mainly found on flat roofs or above a structure on the main roof located at corner placements and situated on gravel substrate. Nest selection showed a negative relation to port distance and a building height beyond 12 m. The presence of litter was detected in more than 80% nests and was related to population density. This study compared weekly near-to-maximum speed exposure data when determined via different methods and criteria. Forty-seven professional Australian rules football (AF) players undertook pre-season sprint assessments (PSSA) via 3 × 50 m maximal efforts using 10 Hz GPS over two consecutive seasons. The same technology was used continually during the in-season to identify maximum speeds attained in training and matches. Weekly near-to-maximal speed (MS) exposure counts were aggregated for speeds ≥80%, ≥85%, ≥90% and ≥95% of their individual maximum for both determination approaches. Weekly near-to-MS exposures was lower (p < 0.0001) when determined from in-season monitoring for ≥80% (−1.26; CI: −1.58 to −0.93), ≥85% (−0.78; CI: −0.97 to −0.59), ≥90% (−0.42; CI: −0.53 to −0.32), and ≥95% (−0.09; CI: −0.12 to −0.06) versus PSSA, with no effect of playing position (P ≥ 0.161). Although ≥80% and ≥85% near-to-maximum speed exposure data was meaningfully influenced by the determination method, the effect was somewhat trivial at higher speed criteria (≥90% and ≥95%) often considered important for performance gains and injury risk reduction purposes. Collegiate field hockey in the United States underwent a game format change in 2019, moving from two halves to four quarters to align with international play. The purpose of this study is to report physical activity profiles for US Collegiate Division I female field hockey athletes in the game format of four quarters and compare activity pre- and post-rule change. Activity profiles of a US Collegiate Division I female field hockey team were recorded using a Polar Pro Sensor. Fifteen regular season games from 2018 were analyzed from 21 players, and fifteen regular season games from 2019 were analyzed from 20 players. Absolute and relative activity profile data, including total distance, maximum velocity, low-speed and high-speed running, and number of surges for the team and positional difference, were compared across the two seasons. While an increase in the number of substitutions as well as a decrease in match time was noted, overall, the change in format had minimal impact on player performance profiles, including total time played, distance traveled, and maximum velocity. The results suggest the change in format did not alter the physical activity profiles for midfielders or forwards but did change for defenders. This study reports coordinated observation of ionospheric irregularities from VHF Radar, GPS and IRNSS (Indian Regional Navigation Satellite System), from regions near the northern crest of the EIA (Equatorial Ionization Anomaly), which has not been explored earlier. Efforts have been made to study the signal‐in‐space environment for concurrent detection of ionospheric irregularities over a range of radio frequency, starting from 53 MHz of the Radar, to L‐band of GPS at 1,575.42 MHz and S band signal of IRNSS at 2,492.5 MHz. The radar is operational at Ionosphere Field Station, Haringhata (geographic latitude 22.93°N; geographic longitude 88.51°E; magnetic dip angle 36.2°N) of University of Calcutta. The GPS and IRNSS data are recorded at Calcutta (22.58°N, 88.38°E geographic; magnetic dip: 36°N), separated from Haringhata by 50 km. The spatial as well as temporal variations of irregularities affecting different radio frequencies have been presented. Coordinated observations have been made during period of March–April 2023. Results of the study reveal the common zone of impact of the different radio frequency links spanning from 53 to 2,592.5 MHz and was identified within 16°–25°N, 85°–90°E. During coordinated observations made over several days, irregularity structures have been observed with radar, having backscatter SNR (Signal to Noise ratio) intensity within −5 to 15 dB. During this time, while intense L band scintillation was recorded on multiple satellites of GPS, scintillation recorded at S band signal was moderate to intense. Drought intensity is commonly characterized using meteorologically‐based metrics that do not provide insight into water deficits within deeper hydrologic systems. In contrast, global positioning system (GPS) displacements are sensitive to both local and regional hydrologic‐storage fluctuations. While a few studies have leveraged this sensitivity to produce geodetic drought indices, hydrologic drought characterization using GPS is not commonly accounted for in drought assessment and management. To motivate this application, we produce a new geodetic drought index (GDI) and quantify its ability to characterize hydrologic drought conditions in key surface and sub‐surface hydrologic reservoirs/pools across California. In northern California, the GDI exhibits a strong regional association with surface‐reservoir storage at the 1‐month time scale (correlation coefficient: 0.83) and groundwater levels at the 3‐month time scale (correlation coefficient: 0.87), along with moderate associations with stream discharge at the daily (instantaneous) time scale (correlation coefficient: 0.50). Groundwater in southern California is best characterized with a 12‐month GDI (correlation coefficient: 0.77), and surface‐reservoir storage is optimized with the 3‐month GDI (correlation coefficient: 0.72). Two sigma uncertainties are ±0.03. Differences between northern and southern California reveal that the GDI is sensitive to unique aquifer and drainage basin characteristics. In addition to capturing long‐term hydrologic trends, rapid changes in the GDI initiate during clusters of large atmospheric river events that closely mirror fluctuations in traditional hydrologic and meteorological observations. We show that GPS‐based hydrologic drought indices provide a significant opportunity to improve drought assessment, in California and beyond, by improving our understanding of the hydrologic cycle. While precipitation is a good measure of the amount of water entering a region, precipitation models do not determine the amount of water retained in a watershed or the amount lost due to runoff and evapotranspiration, which are important factors for drought management. We address this need by producing a hydrologically based drought index that captures changes in both surface and subsurface hydrologic reservoirs/pools using surface‐loading geodesy, which quantifies changes in water volume based on how the shape of the Earth changes under the weight of the water. In this study, we use three‐dimensional global positioning system data to develop a geodetic drought index (GDI). Comparison with independent hydrologic observations indicates strong regional and temporal correlations with reservoir storage, groundwater fluctuations, and stream discharge observations, suggesting the GDI can effectively characterize variations in total hydrologic storage. As a reintroduction progresses through the establishment, growth, and regulation phases, density-dependent mechanisms increasingly drive population dynamics. This can complicate efforts to reinforce these populations if the translocated individuals (henceforth reinforcers) are excluded, or existing residents become displaced. This is especially pertinent for islands and fenced havens, where immigration is often only possible by translocation. Conspecific associations offer insights into how these density-dependent mechanisms manifest in space and time. We investigated how movement, habitat use, and conspecific associations differed between eastern quoll (Dasyurus viverrinus) residents and reinforcers at a conservation-fenced haven. We used GPS collars to quantify distances travelled per night, home and core ranges, nocturnal (activity) and diurnal (denning) habitat use and preference, and conspecific associations over three periods: baseline (residents only, days 3–21), release (both cohorts, days 22–32), and settlement (reinforcers only, days 33–52) for ≤ 42 days post-release (depending on GPS unit longevity). Eastern quolls travelled greater mean distances per night (< 2.15 km, x̄ 1.75 km) and had larger home ranges (< 251 ha, x̄ 178 ha) during the release period. Reinforcers had larger home ranges (249 ha) and greater overlap with other collared eastern quolls (115 ha) when compared to residents (range 90 ha, overlap 46 ha). We found a significant preference for grassland habitat across all animals and periods. During the settlement period, we found a preference for nocturnal activity in greater understory and south-west facing aspects, and lower movement correlation, sociality, and den sharing between collared eastern quolls. Finally, we found lower den sharing in reinforcers (29%) compared to residents (52%), and for fawn- animals compared to dark-morphs. Our results revealed short-term movements, habitat use, and conspecific associations at a greater spatiotemporal resolution than has ever been achieved for this species. Our findings offer important insights into the importance of appropriate habitat and conspecific cueing for reintroductions, and highlight the need to monitor density-dependent mechanisms to inform adaptive management to promote positive outcomes for both initial reintroductions and reinforcements. The spatial use of habitat is key to understanding the ecology of animals and their area requirements. In the current study, the locations of 11 wild pale-throated three-toed sloths (Bradypus tridactylus) were tracked using GPS loggers across 92 days in a 776 ha forest fragment in the central Amazon. Although male home ranges were slightly smaller than those of females, there were no significant differences in size or its expansion patterns. For nine of 11 individuals, home range size reached a plateau within 45 days of study start, indicating that 45 days can be the basal minimum days to establish the home range size of B. tridactylus. There was a negative relationship between body mass and home range size in our study. This counterintuitive result may be caused by disparities in the food-exploring abilities between individuals. Smaller and presumably younger individuals, who have less experience, may require more time and a larger area in which to search for food, while older and more experienced individuals may be able to find food efficiently in a smaller area. This article explores the optimization of global navigation satellite system (GNSS) acquisition using metaheuristic techniques. It focuses on improving the detection performance of the GNSS acquisition system by optimizing the cell averaging constant false alarm rate (CA-CFAR) thresholding in Rayleigh fading channels. The study suggests the use of metaheuristic optimization algorithms such as particle swarm optimization (PSO), biogeography-based optimization (BBO), firefly algorithm (FA), and simulated annealing (SA). The results demonstrate that the optimized thresholds have a significant impact on the system's performance. The article also discusses the use of the constant false alarm rate (CFAR) technique, which utilizes two CA-CFAR detectors to estimate the noise power level and adaptively set a threshold for detection. The detection performance can be further improved by combining the outputs of the two detectors using fusion rules. The article presents and compares the results of simulations and theoretical analysis for different optimization algorithms, showing that the CA-CFAR detector with optimization outperforms the fixed threshold detector and the CA-CFAR detector without optimization. The best results are achieved when two different detectors are used with the CA-CFAR detector and the fusion rule is applied. Relative GNSS positioning, a longstanding measurement standard, often incurs high manpower and equipment costs. Online Precise Point Positioning (PPP) presents a cost-effective alternative by minimizing these expenses. However, transitioning from the ITRF2014 to the TWD97[2010] coordinate system presents unique challenges. This study evaluates the efficacy of five PPP services – AUSPOS, OPUS, CSRS-PPP, magicGNSS, and RTX-PP – using 2018 Continuously Operating Reference Stations (CORS) data. Following a seven-parameter transformation, we systematically compared these services to identify the optimal solution for Taiwan’s geodetic survey needs. Our analysis reveals that RTX-PP offers superior performance, achieving 1 cm accuracy over 24 h and 4 cm accuracy over 1 h. Most stations met these accuracy standards, even during short observation intervals from September 9, 2018. Nonetheless, there is a 24.1 % likelihood of exceeding the 6 cm accuracy threshold due to variations in GNSS data quality. To address this, we employed G-Nut software to analyze station data quality across regions, recommending station selection based on data ratio and cycle slips to improve PPP solution accuracy effectively. Quantitative understanding of the land water loading is a prerequisite to the construction of reliable tectonic deformation velocity field in the Tibetan Plateau (TP). Here, for the first time, we image the three‐dimensional crustal loading deformation velocity field of each land water component in the TP. Our results reveal that the loading signal strength of the six land water components ranks from largest to smallest as groundwater, glacier, lake, soil water, permafrost, and snow, with the maximum vertical velocity close to ±1.60 mm/yr and the maximum horizontal velocity exceeding 0.40 mm/yr. All land water components can achieve a strong enough vertical loading velocity exceeding the present‐day Global Positioning System (GPS) velocity at some sites. But for horizontal loading, apparent impacts are only from glacier, lake and groundwater, however, are very limited, with the absolute ratio of loading velocity to GPS velocity being smaller than 5% at almost all the sites. Atmospheric rivers (ARs) deliver significant and essential precipitation to the western United States (US) with consequential interannual variability. The intensity and frequency of ARs strongly influence reservoir levels, mountain snowpack, and groundwater recharge, which are key drivers of water‐resource availability and natural hazards. Between October 2022 and April 2023, western states experienced exceptionally heavy precipitation from several families of powerful ARs. Using observations of surface‐loading deformation from Global Navigation Satellite Systems, we find that terrestrial water‐storage gains exceeded 100% of normal within vital California watersheds. Independent water‐storage solutions derived from different data‐analysis and inversion methods provide an important measure of precision. The sustained storage increases, which we show are closely associated with ARs at daily‐to‐weekly timescales, alleviated both meteorological and hydrological drought conditions in the region, with a lag in hydrological‐drought improvements. Quantifying water‐storage recovery associated with extreme precipitation after drought advances understanding of an increasingly variable hydrologic cycle. Plain Language Summary: Human communities in the western United States rely on seasonal mountain snowpack and precipitation for agriculture, industry, and the civilian water supply. Over the past two decades, increasingly severe drought conditions have plagued western states. In this study, we investigate gains in water storage related to recent atmospheric rivers, which are long and narrow corridors of atmospheric moisture associated with extreme precipitation, using an interdisciplinary approach called hydrogeodesy. Hydrogeodesy uses satellite‐ and ground‐based sensors to track subtle changes in the shape of the Earth and its gravity field caused by the redistribution of water through the Earth system. By treating the Earth as a natural scale, we can infer how much water is gained or lost from a particular area over time. Advancing our understanding of water‐resource availability, the Earth's water cycle, and the Earth's changing climate is critical for improving water‐resource management, sustaining natural ecosystems, and mitigating natural hazards. Objectives: General practitioners are trained to care for patients with a high level of responsibility and professional competency. However, there are few reports on the physical and mental health status of general practitioners (GPs) in China, particularly regarding help seeking and self-treatment. The primary aims of this study were to explore GPs' expectations of their own family doctors and their reflection on role positioning, and to explore the objective factors that hinder the system of family doctors. Study design: Cross-sectional study. Methods: We conducted an online survey of Chinese GPs. Descriptive statistics were used to summarize the findings. Results: More than half of the participants (57.20%) reported that their health was normal over the past year. A total of 420 participants (23.35%) reported having chronic diseases. For sleep duration, 1205 participants (66.98%) reported sleeping 6–8 h per day; 473 participants (26.29%) reported chronic insomnia. Two hundred thirty-one participants (12.84%) had possible depression. A total of 595 (33.07%) participants reported that they had contracted a fixed family doctor. In terms of preventing themselves from contracting for a family doctor, the following factors were identified: lack of sufficient time (54.81%), could solve obstacles themselves (50.97%), and embarrassment (24.24%). The proportion of the contract group (12.44%) taking personal relationship as a consideration was higher than that of the non-contract group (7.64%) (χ2 = 10.934 P = 0.01). Most participants (79.90%) in the non-signed group reported never having seen a family doctor. In terms of obstacles, more than half of the signed group thought that they could solve obstacles themselves, while the non-signed group (39.20%) was less confident in the ability of family doctors than the signed group (29.75%) (χ2 = 15.436, P < 0.01). Conclusions: GPs work under great pressure and lack of self-care awareness, resulting in an increased prevalence of health conditions. Most GPs did not have a regular family doctor. Having a family doctor with a fixed contract is more conducive to the scientific management of their health and provides a reasonable solution to health problems. The main factors hindering GPs from choosing a family doctor were time consumption, abilities to solve obstacles themselves, and trust in the abilities of GPs. Therefore, simplifying the process of family doctor visits, Changing the GPs' medical cognition, and strengthening the policy of GP training would be conducive to promoting a family doctor system that enhances hierarchical diagnosis and treatment. This study investigated the reliability and validity of linear sprint tests (LS) and curvilinear sprint tests (CS) using a GPS device (GPEXE lt). Twenty-one (21) student athletes completed a 40 m LS as well as a left and right CS. Maximum sprint speed (MSS) and split times at short (0–10 m), intermediate (0–20 m), and long (0–30 m) distances were determined using the GPEXE lt and single-beam timing gates (TG). Intrasession reliability and concurrent validity of GPEXE lt were assessed. The GPEXE lt consistently showed high reliability for MSS (ICC ≥ 0.95; CV ≤ 1.8%), despite underestimation compared to TG (bias = −2.57 to −0.95%; ICC ≥ 0.87). Acceptable reliability was observed for CS and LS intermediate and long distance split times (ICC ≥ 0.91; CV ≤ 2.1%), with lower reliability for short distances (ICC ≥ 0.70; CV ≤ 3.6%). The GPEXE lt split times for CS and LS showed good agreement with TG (ICC ≥ 0.66), but were overestimated at long distances (5.5–9.7%) and short distances (11.1–14.6%). Although the MSS was found to be the most reliable and valid variable to assess LS and CS speed performance with GPEXE lt, caution is needed due to limited validity. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Background: In 2010, China launched a rural-oriented tuition-waived medical education (RTME) programme to train more general practitioners (GPs) to meet the needs of the rural health workforce. Motivating and maintaining GPs is an important consideration for the shortage in the rural health workforce. This study aimed to investigate job satisfaction and turnover among the first group of rural-oriented tuition-waived medical students (RTMSs) who had completed a three-year compulsory service in Guangxi, as well as the factors affecting RTMSs turnover. Methods: This study adopted a mixed-method approach. A quantitative survey of 129 RTMSs was analysed (81.6% response rate), and qualitative interviews were conducted with 30 stakeholders, including 18 RTMSs, six administrators of the County Health Bureau, and six administrators of township health centers (THCs). A t-test, chi-square test, Fisher's exact test, and logistic regression analysis were used to examine the quantitative data, and thematic analysis was used to analyse the qualitative data. Results: Among the 129 participants, the turnover rate was high, with 103 RTMSs reporting turnover (79.84%). Interpersonal relationships scored the highest in job satisfaction (3.63 ± 0.64) among RTMSs, while working conditions were rated the lowest (2.61 ± 0.85). Marital status (odds ratio [OR] = 0.236, 95% confidence interval [95%CI] = 0.059–0.953, P = 0.043), only child status (OR = 8.660, 95%CI = 1.714–43.762, P = 0.009), and job return satisfaction (OR = 0.290, 95%CI = 0.090–0.942, P = 0.039) were significantly associated with turnover. Univariate analyses showed that income had a significant influence on turnover, but the relationship gone by multivariable; however it was deemed important in the qualitative study. Qualitative analysis revealed that turnover was influenced by the working atmosphere, effort-reward imbalance, professional competence, and opportunities for training and promotion. Conclusions: This study provides insights for the policymakers about the priority areas for retaining GPs in rural locations and provides reference values for the retention of GPs in other regions with a shortage of rural health workers. For RTMSs to continue providing services to rural areas, the government should improve their salaries, balance their income and workload, provide more opportunities for training and career promotion, and managers should recognise their efforts and create an optimistic working atmosphere. This study aimed to measure the differences in commonly used summary acceleration metrics during elite Australian football games under three different data processing protocols (raw, custom-processed, manufacturer-processed). Estimates of distance, speed and acceleration were collected with a 10-Hz GNSS tracking technology device from fourteen matches of 38 elite Australian football players from one team. Raw and manufacturer-processed data were exported from respective proprietary software and two common summary acceleration metrics (number of efforts and distance within medium/high-intensity zone) were calculated for the three processing methods. To estimate the effect of the three different data processing methods on the summary metrics, linear mixed models were used. The main findings demonstrated that there were substantial differences between the three processing methods; the manufacturer-processed acceleration data had the lowest reported distance (up to 184 times lower) and efforts (up to 89 times lower), followed by the custom-processed distance (up to 3.3 times lower) and efforts (up to 4.3 times lower), where raw data had the highest reported distance and efforts. The results indicated that different processing methods changed the metric output and in turn alters the quantification of the demands of a sport (volume, intensity and frequency of the metrics). Coaches, practitioners and researchers need to understand that various processing methods alter the summary metrics of acceleration data. By being informed about how these metrics are affected by processing methods, they can better interpret the data available and effectively tailor their training programs to match the demands of competition. We perform a statistical sensitivity analysis on a parametric fit to vertical daily displacement time series of 244 European Permanent GNSS stations, with a focus on linear vertical land motion (VLM), i.e., station velocity. We compare two independent corrections to the raw (uncorrected) observed displacements. The first correction is physical and accounts for non-tidal atmospheric, non-tidal oceanic and hydrological loading displacements, while the second approach is an empirical correction for the common-mode errors. For the uncorrected case, we show that combining power-law and white noise stochastic models with autoregressive models yields adequate noise approximations. With this as a realistic baseline, we report improvement rates of about 14% to 24% in station velocity sensitivity, after corrections are applied. We analyze the choice of the stochastic models in detail and outline potential discrepancies between the GNSS-observed displacements and those predicted by the loading models. Furthermore, we apply restricted maximum likelihood estimation (RMLE), to remove low-frequency noise biases, which yields more reliable velocity uncertainty estimates. RMLE reveals that for a number of stations noise is best modeled by a combination of random walk, flicker noise, and white noise. The sensitivity analysis yields minimum detectable VLM parameters (linear velocities, seasonal periodic motions, and offsets), which are of interest for geophysical applications of GNSS, such as tectonic or hydrological studies. The accuracy of the results of satellite measurements is influenced by many factors. One of them is the multipath phenomenon resulting from reflections of the satellite signal, mainly from objects in the vicinity of the GNSS antenna. The multipath remains a domain source of ranging errors in satellite positioning. Despite the groups of multipath mitigation methods, it is impossible to totally eliminate the influence of this error on the measurement results. This error has two main effects in the case of carrier phase differential positioning. First, the multipath increases the initial search space for correct ambiguities. Secondly, the accuracy of the vector solution between the reference station and the rover receiver is affected. The authors of this article analyzed the presence of multipath in the Polish network of permanent GNSS stations ASG-EUPOS. Data from the year 2021 were used for the analysis. Two computational strategies were adopted to determine the multipath. The pseudorange multipath observable combination (MP) for L1, L2 and L5 signals was used for code measurements. In the case of the carrier phase, multipath analyses of double-differenced L1, L2, and L5 carriers between neighbouring stations were performed. Based on the research, the average multipath level for the Polish GNSS reference stations network was determined. Stations where the levels of particular combinations exceed the assumed values were successively determined. Finally, multipath models in the form of sidereal maps were created. Based on these models, six stations were identified and recommended for further analysis concerning the impact of multipath on GNSS measurements. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

The study introduces the concept of regional GPS orbit determination, whereby GPS satellite positions are determined using GPS measurements from locally or regional distributed stations. The importance and characteristics of regional GPS orbit are briefly discussed. The technique used to determine the regional GPS satellite position is coined Inverse Single Point Positioning (ISPP). Code-based pseudorange is used and improved using residual correction model. Two designs of station distribution are selected in this study, which only cover stations in Malaysia and stations situated 8000 km from a reference point in Malaysia. The root-mean-squared-error (RMSE) of ISPP when compared against final ephemeris were 660.65 m and 27.61 m, while the 3D RMSE of positioning were 1.612 m and 1.324 m for the first and second designs, respectively, lower than the accuracy of broadcast ephemeris. Three parameters are identified as factors affecting accuracy of ISPP, namely geometry of station distribution, nature of measurement used, and technique of orbit determination. Ongoing technological advances have led to a rapid increase in the number, type and scope of animal‐tracking studies. In response, many software tools have been developed to analyse animal movement data. These tools generally focus on movement modelling, but the steps required to clean raw data files from different tracking devices have been largely ignored. Such pre‐processing steps are often time‐consuming and involve a steep learning curve but are crucial for the creation of high‐quality, standardised and shareable data. Moreover, decisions made at this early stage can substantially influence subsequent analyses, and in the current age of reproducibility crisis, the transparency of this process is vital.Here we present an open‐access, reproducible toolkit written in the programming language R for processing raw data files into a single cleaned data set for analyses and upload to online tracking databases (found here: https://github.com/ExMove/ExMove). The toolkit comprises well‐documented and flexible code to facilitate data processing and user understanding, both of which can increase user confidence and improve the uptake of sharing open and reproducible code. Additionally, we provide an overview website (found here: https://exmove.github.io/) and a Shiny app to help users visualise tracking data and assist with parameter determination during data cleaning.The toolkit is generalisable to different data formats and device types, uses modern 'tidy coding' practices, and relies on a few well‐maintained packages. Among these, we perform spatial manipulations using the package sf.Overall, by collating all required steps from data collection to archiving on open access databases into a single, robust pipeline, our toolkit provides a valuable resource for anyone conducting animal movement analyses and represents an important step towards increased standardisation and reproducibility in animal movement ecology. This study sought to assess how post-game creatine kinase (CK) levels correlate with the number of sprints and the impact of the ACTN3 polymorphism on this response. This research constituted a descriptive/observational, retrospective cross-sectional study. DNA was extracted from blood samples for ACTN3 polymorphism genotyping. CK was measured 48 h after official matches, and the number of sprints (>19 km/h) was tracked using Global Positioning System (GPS) technology. The main cohort included 23 professional soccer players from the top tier of the Brazilian Championship. We analyzed 115 GPS + CK data sets. The replication cohort comprised 18 professional soccer players from the First Division of the Championship, had the same methodology applied, and featured a total of 90 GPS (sprints > 25.2 km/h) + CK data sets. For the main cohort, a significant positive correlation was seen between the number of sprints and the CK levels (p = 0.009). Athletes with the ACTN3 RR genotype had higher CK levels as more sprints were performed during the match (p = 0.017). However, the relationship was not found for X allele carriers (p > 0.05). For the replication cohort, there was a near-significant correlation between CK levels and the number of sprints (p = 0.05), and RR individuals showed a significant association (p = 0.01), whereas X allele carriers did not (p = 0.06). A greater number of sprints during matches is linked to higher CK levels, primarily among players with the ACTN3 RR genotype, which is potentially due to an increased presence of type II muscle fibers. These findings were replicated for both cohorts of elite Brazilian soccer players, emphasizing the importance of genetic factors in injury prevention. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

The widespread use of automobiles has revolutionized transportation and attracted a large population owing to their convenience and effectiveness. However, this widespread adoption has resulted in a significant increase in road traffic accidents. The alarming road fatalities suggest that medical responders are overwhelmed by the need to save lives in a timely manner. This is due to a lack of affordable autonomous detection and notification mechanisms. Prior work in this domain includes the use of vehicular ad hoc networks, Arduinos, and Raspberry Pis; machine-learning approaches for predictions; and smart devices using integrated sensors. These methods are either expensive to acquire, human-reliant, or require vehicular modifications. Therefore, the aim of this study is to suggest a cheap prototype that can work with smartphones. The prototype should have embedded micro-electromechanical system (MEMS) sensors that measure g-force to find car accidents and global system for mobile communications-long term evolution (GSM-LTE) to call the closest medical responders, which would be found using GPS. A prototype was developed using the.NET Multi-Platform App UI (MAUI) framework. This study applied the design science research methodology (DSRM) to produce a socially acceptable, low-cost artifact similar to existing in-vehicle systems to save lives on the road during a road traffic accident. The FEDS evaluation of the results indicated that smartphones can perform such complex tasks with reasonable accuracy compared with expensive in-vehicle systems. The prototype can be adopted by lower- to middle-class individuals as it is a cheaper alternative. • Significant ionospheric disturbances during the 2021 Typhoon Chanthu were observed by GPS and GLONASS. • The ionospheric disturbances following the Typhoon are accompanied and propagated with the "N"-type wave. • The propagation velocity and center frequency of ionospheric disturbances are within the range of gravity waves. Severe typhoons often result in substantial economic and human losses. Therefore, near-real-time monitoring and forecasting of severe typhoons have a significant importance. In this paper, characteristics of ionospheric disturbances during the 2021 Typhoon Chanthu are estimated and investigated from GPS and GLONASS measurements. We calculate high-precision de-trended and filtered ionospheric vertical total electron content (VTEC) data based on GPS and GLONASS data from intensive Global Navigation Satellite System (GNSS) observations at 30-second intervals in Taiwan. Based on the VTEC values, we analyze the characteristics of ionospheric disturbances caused by Typhoon Chanthu, such as the time of appearance of ionospheric disturbances, changes in the magnitude of these disturbances, alterations in two-dimensional disturbances, fluctuations in the speed of disturbance propagation, and shifts in the frequency spectrum. The results reveal that both GPS-TEC and GLONASS-TEC exhibit noticeable disturbances during the specified timeframe. These disturbances are accompanied by the occurrence of "N"-type anomalies in TEC. Notably, at the occurrence of the disturbance, the elevation angle of GPS PRN32 and GLONASS PRN1 satellites is approximately 50°-55°, and their respective distances from the typhoon eye are roughly 350 km and 150 km. The propagation velocity and center frequency of the ionospheric disturbances are located in the range of gravity waves. Specifically, the disturbances propagation speeds of GPS PRN32 and GLONASS PRN1 are approximately 129.36 m/s and 128.33 m/s, respectively, while the center frequencies are about 1.17 mHz and 1.43 mHz. The ionospheric perturbations observed by GPS and GLONASS exhibit certain similarities, which provide valuable insights into the relationship between typhoons and ionospheric disturbances. Landscape productivity and resource dispersion are key drivers of the movement patterns of many species. In less productive environments, home ranges are generally larger as individuals travel further to access resources. The greater bilby (Macrotis lagotis) has been reintroduced to several feral predator exclosures to reduce their extinction risk. Understanding how landscape productivity and resource dispersion influence bilby space use is critical to enable effective management of populations in exclosures. At two exclosures, we tested three hypotheses: 1. Bilbies would preferentially utilize habitats with sandy substrates (<20% clay content), as they are suitable for digging burrows and foraging pits; 2. Home ranges would be larger at the arid site compared to the semi‐arid site due to lower productivity and patchier distribution of preferred habitats; and 3. Bilbies would travel further each night at the arid site to access preferred habitats. Rainfall was used as an indicator of productivity, and dispersion of preferred habitats as an indicator of resource dispersion. The study was undertaken during average rainfall conditions and under similar bilby population densities at both sites. GPS loggers recorded home ranges and movements of 10 bilbies at the arid site, and 11 bilbies at the semi‐arid site. Seventeen of the 21 bilbies preferentially utilized habitats with sandy substrates, which were less abundant at the arid site. There were no significant differences in home range size or nightly movements between the sites for either sex. We suggest the average rainfall conditions at both sites, and the dietary flexibility of bilbies, supported the maintenance of relatively small and stable home ranges (particularly for females). The effects of landscape productivity and resource dispersion on bilby space use are more likely to be evident during extended periods of below average rainfall.
