Introduction: There remains a dearth of knowledge concerning the phenomenology of suicidal thoughts, with research focusing on reasons for feeling suicidal rather than their mental expression. While clinical interviews remain the standard phenomenological approach, such exploration of lived experiences may prove challenging for this sensitive topic. As a complementary alternative, the use of naturally-occurring online data is opportune for capturing elaborations on tabooed phenomena. Methods: In this phenomenological study, we present a thematic analysis on lived experiences of suicidal thoughts as spontaneously reported by nonidentified users of a Reddit online board (r/Depression), collecting 668 posts using the search terms "suicidal ideation," "suicidal thoughts," and "suicide." Codes were grouped into descriptive categories summarizing the properties of thoughts, their effects, and their relation to suicide. Then, an interpretative synthesis yielded global themes connecting salient meanings on the experience of suicidal thoughts. Results: With a long-term and recurring nature, thoughts of suicide appear in the form of vivid imagery and daydreaming's, initially bringing relief to adverse feelings but eventually becoming conditioned and all-consuming. Rather than a wonderment, they are experienced as intrusive thoughts by people struggling to make meaning of their occurrence. When conciliating the presence of unwanted thoughts, users express intricate relations to wishing or not to die, as well as varying perceptions of control over actions or fear of suicidal behavior. Discussion: With an innovative application of big qualitative data into phenomenological analysis, this study contributes to an initial characterization of suicidal thoughts, uncovering findings that are not contemplated into current conceptualizations of suicidality. The analysis is limited by a restricted context of posts and unknown demographics, and further research with clinical interviews is warranted for in-depth exploration of suicidal thoughts. Workplace incivility has been touted as a form of modern discrimination with serious negative consequences for the target. The increasingly unequal gender distribution in STEM workforce has also been attributed to workplace incivility. This study examines the lived experience of this covert mistreatment for women employees in STEM workplaces. Data from STEM women employees revealed a typology of STEM incivility, mapping onto ostracism, hostility, undermining, and sexual incivility. Further, the gendered nature and STEM-specific phenomenology of incivility against women employees, based on instigator characteristics, incivility frequency, and the general climate of STEM which aided or fostered interpersonal mistreatment was found. Drawing on affective events theory from organizational sciences and grounded in the STEM industry, this research examined the person-centric, emotional consequences of being a target of STEM incivility. Three broad themes that describe the first-person, felt-experience impact of mistreatment were as follows: discrete emotions, emotion regulation, duration of emotion experience. Upon encountering uncivil interpersonal experiences, participant reactions fell among one of four discrete emotional states: anger, fear, sadness, and surprise. Emotion regulation emerged as a key feature of the affective response. Specifically, STEM demands were tied to participant utilization of the regulation strategy of suppression to hide the felt emotion initially and reappraisal and response modulation over time. Importantly, although understood as a mild event, the emotional consequences of incivility were long-lasting such that they continued beyond the episode, lasting anywhere from two hours to a week. The STEM context was central to the emotion trajectories. Results are discussed with respect to work performance, attitudinal, and health-related consequences for women employees in STEM jobs. This treatise seeks to show the problem of the theological method per se, in that it has always been infected with secular philosophies in its form and structure. That is, the theological method, which should be purely scriptural, has often coined the method of philosophy and/or the sciences (other than theology), often ignoring the exclusivity of the theological method per se, namely, exegetical. or interpretive itself. Therefore, in this essay we present the criticisms of some Christian thinkers and theologians of the use and method in vogue, advocating for a methodology that clearly emanates from the Holy Scriptures. Understanding controls on solute export to streams is challenging because heterogeneous catchments can respond uniquely to drivers of environmental change. To understand general solute export patterns, we used a large‐scale inductive approach to evaluate concentration–discharge (C–Q) metrics across catchments spanning a broad range of catchment attributes and hydroclimatic drivers. We leveraged paired C–Q data for 11 solutes from CAMELS‐Chem, a database built upon an existing dataset of catchment and hydroclimatic attributes from relatively undisturbed catchments across the contiguous USA. Because C–Q relationships with Q thresholds reflect a shift in solute export dynamics and are poorly characterized across solutes and diverse catchments, we analysed C–Q relationships using Bayesian segmented regression to quantify Q thresholds in the C–Q relationship. Threshold responses were rare, representing only 12% of C–Q relationships, 56% of which occurred for solutes predominantly sourced from bedrock. Further, solutes were dominated by one or two C–Q patterns that reflected vertical solute–source distributions. Specifically, solutes predominantly sourced from bedrock had diluting C–Q responses in 43%–70% of catchments, and solutes predominantly sourced from soils had more enrichment responses in 35%–51% of catchments. We also linked C–Q relationships to catchment and hydroclimatic attributes to understand controls on export patterns. The relationships were generally weak despite the diversity of solutes and attribute types considered. However, catchment and hydroclimatic attributes in the central USA typically drove the most divergent export behaviour for solutes. Further, we illustrate how our inductive approach generated new hypotheses that can be tested at discrete, representative catchments using deductive approaches to better understand the processes underlying solute export patterns. Finally, given these long‐term C–Q relationships are from minimally disturbed catchments, our findings can be used as benchmarks for change in more disturbed catchments. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

The resonance circuit's design has a major influence on the inductive electric vehicle (EV) charging system's performance and the distance between the primary and secondary inductive coils. If resonance circuitry is not included in an inductive power transfer (IPT) system, its performance suffers dramatically and its power transfer efficiency suffers significantly. Furthermore, the design of the resonance circuit has a major impact on the rating as well as the voltage and current strains on the semiconductor switches. The sequence, amplitude, and shape of the waveform are determined by the configuration of the energy storage components. The arrangement of these components is critical in defining how the inductive power transfer system behaves and operates. A few popular architectures play an important role in shaping how the system works. In this paper, the significance and effect of resonance circuits on the inductive charging of electric vehicles have been reviewed and discussed comprehensively. Furthermore, a detailed discussion was presented for the second-order resonance circuit, the higher-order resonance circuit, and the hybrid resonance circuit. Additionally, H-bridge resonant inverter topology was discussed and three main resonant architectures for the H-bridge inverter were studied inclusively. They include the inductor-capacitor-inductor (LCL) resonance architecture, switched inductor-capacitor (SLC) resonance architecture, and High-gain resonance architecture. In this paper, a SiGe/Si heterojunction inductive line tunneling tunnel field-effect transistor with source Schottky contact (SC HJLT-iTFET) is proposed and investigated by the Sentaurus Technology Computer Aided Design (TCAD) simulator. By utilizing an appropriate source Schottky metal, the need for multiple ion implantation and annealing steps required for traditional P–I–N TFETs can be avoided, and the problems of self-alignment and random dopant fluctuations (RDF) during ion implantation can be solved. A high ON-state current (I ON) is obtained as fully overlapping the source and gate by line tunneling mechanism dominated, the appropriate Si1− x Ge x mole fraction material in the source region and high-k gate dielectric employed can further improve I ON. The incorporation of the block layer effectively decreases the lateral electric field at the drain end to reduce the OFF-state current (I OFF). Furthermore, the proposed charge enhancement layer (CEL) on the SiGe channel can suppress the Fermi level pinning effect (FLP) and enhance the charge of the source region. Based on the feasibility of the practical fabrication process, and the rigorous simulations indicate that the device has an SSavg of 19.8 mV/dec and SSmin of 6.8 mV/dec at V D = 0.2 V, I ON of 2.27 × 10−6 A μ m−1, and an I ON/ I OFF ratio of 1.02 × 1010, with extremely fast switching speed. Knowledge graph completion (KGC) can enhance the completeness of the knowledge graph (KG). Traditional transductive KGC assumes that all entities and relations employed during testing have been seen in the training phase. As real-world KGs constantly evolve, it becomes imperative to retrain the KG whenever unseen entities or relations appear. Inductive knowledge graph completion (IKGC) aims to complete missing triples involving unseen entities or relations without retraining and has garnered substantial attention recently. This paper is the first one that provides a comprehensive review of IKGC from both technical and theoretical perspectives. Technically, IKGC is categorized into two groups: structural information-based IKGC and additional information-based IKGC. Theoretically, IKGC is divided into two categories: semi-inductive setting and fully-inductive setting. In particular, each category is further subdivided into distinct granularities, and theoretical scenarios are incorporated into the technical methods to facilitate comparison and analysis. Many normative political theorists have engaged in the systematic collection and/or analysis of empirical data to inform the development of their arguments over the past several decades. Yet, the approach they employ has typically not been treated as a distinctive mode of theorizing. It has been mostly overlooked in surveys of normative political theory methods and methodologies, as well as by those critics who assert that political theory is too abstracted from actual political contestation. Our aim is to unearth this grounded normative theory (GNT) approach – to identify its definitive practices and highlight its potential significance. We detail four overlapping commitments characteristic of GNT. These include commitments to expanding the comprehensiveness of input for normative arguments through original empirical research and/or analysis, recursivity in the development of normative claims, attentiveness to the systematic inclusion of a range of voices and ways of knowing, and accountability to those engaged by the theorist in empirical contexts. We discuss methodological distinctions within GNT, including between more- and less-solidaristic approaches. The properties of an inductive RF discharge placed in a longitudinal external magnetic field with an induction of less than 70 G at frequencies of 2, 4, and 13.56 MHz are studied. The dependences of the region of existence of the discharge, the efficiency of the RF power input and the structure of the RF magnetic field on the external magnetic field induction are studied experimentally. The experimental results are compared with calculations based on a previously developed electromagnetic discharge model. It is shown that the local maximum of the plasma density observed at weak magnetic fields is associated with the resonant excitation of waves in the plasma source. Background. The proposed work is devoted to research to clarify the axiomatization of arithmetic in connection with the presence of special assumptions in it. The conceptual problem of analyzing new properties of numbers is formulated under the assumption of the possibility of losing any initial premise. Materials and methods. A solution to the conceptual problem is given, followed by a logical analysis of the meaningful axiomatic theory of natural numbers, which led to the discovery of logical errors. An analysis of logical errors is given based on the meaningful axiomatic theory of natural numbers. It is shown that the properties of an established set of "finite real numbers", or positive real numbers contained in a given segment e, have the property of being discovered depending not only on the "requested numbers" of the actually infinite region, but also on real (positive) numbers infinite half-interval. Results. Conditions have been identified that allow us to establish new properties of numbers. Conclusions. The natural series N begins only with 1, there is no zero in it. It has been proven that modern arithmetic has an incorrect axiomatization and is subject to revision.

Each approach has functions and characteristics according to the research being conducted. This research explores the advantages of combined deductive and inductive methods in various research fields, from qualitative to accounting. The first article discusses the differences in generalisability approaches in quantitative and qualitative research, highlighting the use of deductive approaches in qualitative research. The following article discusses dualism in Qualitative Content Analysis (QCA) and shows the advantages of combining inductive and deductive approaches. Other studies have looked at the pitfalls of both inductive and deductive methods in qualitative research. In contrast, others have detailed the benefits of approaches that combine deductive and inductive in the context of intercultural collaborative design. In addition, the article on the role of deductive and inductive reasoning in the development of accounting theory provides in-depth insight into how the two approaches can complement each other. Recent research offers practical and theoretical suggestions, including flexibility in research design and the adoption of an atheoretical approach to interviewing. By engaging these concepts, this research contributes to the holistic understanding and diverse use of deductive and inductive methods in multidisciplinary research. Methodology – This research uses descriptive qualitative analysis methods Findings – Applying a combined method of deductive and inductive approaches can increase the accuracy and precision of research results and produce more transparent and relevant findings. Thematic analysis is a highly popular technique among qualitative researchers for analyzing qualitative data, which usually comprises thick descriptive data. However, the application and use of thematic analysis has also involved complications due to confusion regarding the final outcome's presentation as a conceptual model. This paper develops a systematic thematic analysis process for creating a conceptual model from qualitative research findings. It explores the adaptability of the proposed process across various research methodologies, including constructivist methodologies, positivist methodologies, grounded theory, and interpretive phenomenology, and justifies their application. The paper distinguishes between inductive and deductive coding approaches and emphasizes the merits of each. It suggests that the derived systematic thematic analysis model is valuable across multiple disciplines, particularly in grounded theory, ethnographic approaches, and narrative approaches, while also being adaptable to more descriptive, positivist-based methodologies. By providing a methodological roadmap, this study enhances the rigor and replicability of thematic analysis and offers a comprehensive strategy for theoretical conceptualization in qualitative research. The Inductive Bible Study method is a hermeneutical approach and process for studying the Bible. Focusing on the final form of the text and trying to minimize or eliminate presuppositions, it takes into consideration all relevant sources of evidence, observing and examining the text, asking questions from the observations, and answering them, primarily from the text itself, but with the flexibility to incorporate other types of evidence from outside the text if the text itself demands it for clearer understanding. The inductive method (IBS), as described and demonstrated in this article, emphasizes both the form and content of the text, focusing on the various contexts of the text. Matthew 16:13–28 is used to illustrate certain aspects of the method, and the telic benediction in Hebrews 13:20–21 serves as the main example of a text to which the IBS method is applied to yield text-centered results over against an emphasis on foreground or background matters. The results of an experimental study of a low-power RF plasma source placed in a longitudinal magnetic field (helicon thruster), when it operates on a capacitive RF discharge and inductive RF discharges with a capacitive component, are presented. A significant dependence of the characteristics of the ion and electron fluxes of the source on the induction of a constant magnetic field is shown. The fundamental applicability of capacitive RF discharge as a working process in the studied plasma source is demonstrated. ePortfolios are a collection of digital evidence demonstrating learning over time, and are a high-impact practice for students that can be curated for specific audiences. In multidisciplinary programs, such as agriculture/agribusiness, students often have nuanced learning journeys and graduate with a range of skills and work-integrated learning (WIL) experiences. It can be difficult for both students and potential employers to recognize the depth and breadth of the students' individual learning journey, and the skills that they possess. Integrating ePortfolios into an agriculture/agribusiness program has the potential to improve outcomes for student, institution and employer by providing an innovative solution to this tension. It can encourage students to develop technological and reflective skills, as well as highlight their specific WIL experiences, knowledge and understanding. In recent years, wireless power transfer (WPT) has become a widespread method for charging and powering devices, including but not limited to consumer electronics, industrial applications, electric vehicles, medical devices, and sensor nodes. This article provides an overview of the available WPT technologies, focusing on the near-field case, and highlights the main architecture and circuit-level challenges encountered in the implementation of magnetic-based near-field WPT systems while reviewing the proposed solutions in the literature, in order to identify the main research interests as well as the trends for the future.

Background: For researchers, it is crucial to understand how theory is used when undertaking research because this gives an explanation of the flow of the research and facilitates the translation of the research outcomes into practice. Purpose: The foundation of our article is based on the explanation of how to utilise theory inductively or deductively throughout the journey of undertaking qualitative research. Discussion: In quantitative research, testing hypotheses theoretically is the main use of theory. Meanwhile, questions of when and how to use a theory could be contention in qualitative research. An ongoing debate on the interrelationship and interdependence between theory and research has caused confusion, especially for novice qualitative researchers. Reasoning has been extensively studied by many experts. However, Research on student reasoning in trigonometric problem solving, particularly those related to logical thinking skills is still sorely needed. This study aimed to explore students' reasoning in solving trigonometric function problems regarding logical thinking skills. The research was conducted using a qualitative approach. The research subjects involved high school students in Palopo, Indonesia. Based on the logical ability test results, three subjects were selected, namely students with high, medium, and low logical abilities. Research instruments in mathematical problem-solving tasks and interview guidelines are valid and reliable. Data collection was carried out through task-based interviews and think-aloud. The results of the study: (1) the reasoning subjects with high and moderate logical abilities in solving trigonometric function problems are the same in every type of question, always starting with inductive reasoning and then doing deductive reasoning (2) the reasoning of subjects with high and medium logical abilities is different in solving trigonometric function problems in the initial identification. Subjects with low logical ability showed no mental activity in solving trigonometric function problems. The research finding is that the subject has a high logical ability and is solving trigonometric function problems first by inductive reasoning and then deductive reasoning. In general, it is concluded that students with high and moderate logical abilities use inductive and deductive thinking patterns interchangeably in solving trigonometric function problems.

A suction or elevated vacuum prosthetic socket that loses vacuum pressure may cause excessive limb motion, putting the user at risk of skin irritation, gait instability and injury. The purpose of this research was to develop a method to monitor distal limb motion and then test a small group of participants wearing suction sockets to identify variables that strongly influenced motion. A thin plastic insert holding two inductive sensor antennae was designed and printed. Inserts were placed in suction sockets made for four participants who regularly used suction or elevated vacuum suspension. Participants wore a liner with a trace amount of iron powder in the elastomer that served as a distance target for the sensors. In-lab testing demonstrated that the sensed distance increased when participants added socks and decreased when they removed socks, demonstrating proper sensor performance. Results from take-home testing (3–5 days) suggest that research investigation into cyclic limb motion for sock presence v. absence should be pursued, as should the influence of bodily position between bouts of walking. These variables may have an important influence on suspension. Long-term monitoring may provide clinical insight to improve fit and to enhance suction and elevated vacuum technology.

Bu çalışmada tümevarım ve tümdengelim metotları hakkında bilgiler ile bu metotlar arasındaki farklar verilmiştir. Daha sonra Türkiye’de dilbilgisi öğretiminin metot açısından değerlendirilmesi yapılmıştır. Ardından tümevarım metodu takip edilerek hazırlanan en-Naḥvu’l-Vâḍıḥ ve el-Ḳavâʻidu’l-ʻArabiyyetu’l-Muyessere adlı Arapça dilbilgisi kitaplarının dilbilgisi öğretim metotları önsöz, konuların ele alınışı ve alıştırmalar başlıkları altında incelenmiştir. Çalışmanın devamında 2020-2021 eğitim döneminde Selçuk Üniversitesinde Arap Dili ve Edebiyatı Bölümü birinci sınıfında tümdengelim yöntemi ile hazırlanmış dilbilgisi kitabının kullanıldığı bir ders yanında el-Ḳavâʻidu’l-ʻArabiyyetu’l-Muyessere adlı eserin kaynak kitap olarak kullanıldığı dersi alan öğrencilerin dilbilgisi öğretim metotlarına yaklaşımlarını öğrenmek amacıyla uzun süredir Arapça eğitimi alan 8 öğrenci ile Arapça eğitimine üniversitede başlamış 8 öğrenci olmak üzere rastgele seçilen 16 öğrencinin katıldığı yarı yapılandırılmış görüşme tekniğinin kullanıldığı bir nitel araştırma yapılmıştır. Görüşmeye katılan her iki gruptaki öğrencilerin çoğunluğunun tümdengelim yöntemini tercih ettiği görülürken öğrencilerin dilbilgisi konusunun detaylı anlatılması ve terimlere çok yer verilmesi gibi hususlarda metot tercihleri ile farklılaşan yaklaşımlarının olduğu anlaşılmıştır. Çalışmada her iki metotta gerek eğitimcilerin gerekse öğrencilerin olumlu ve olumsuz bulduğu hususlar olduğu görüldüğünden dolayı olumlu bulunan hususların göz önünde bulundurulduğu karma bir metodun izlenmesinin daha faydalı olacağı sonucuna varılmıştır.

Feline cystic oral lesions are uncommon and include odontogenic cysts and cystic odontogenic tumors. Accurate diagnosis requires close collaboration between the clinician's clinical and radiographic findings and the pathologist's histologic interpretations. The odontogenic cysts identified in this series include a periapical cyst, dentigerous cysts and a type of unclassified collateral cyst that appears to be a previously undefined, distinct entity in cats (UCC). Many of the cysts (52%) were unable to be classified due to insufficient diagnostic information, which often related to the associated tooth being unavailable for evaluation. Cystic odontogenic tumors included ameloblastomas, amyloid producing ameloblastomas (APA), and feline inductive odontogenic tumors (FIOT). A suction or elevated vacuum prosthetic socket that loses vacuum pressure may cause excessive limb motion, putting the user at risk of skin irritation, gait instability and injury. The purpose of this research was to develop a method to monitor distal limb motion and then test a small group of participants wearing suction sockets to identify variables that strongly influenced motion. A thin plastic insert holding two inductive sensor antennae was designed and printed. Inserts were placed in suction sockets made for four participants who regularly used suction or elevated vacuum suspension. Participants wore a liner with a trace amount of iron powder in the elastomer that served as a distance target for the sensors. In-lab testing demonstrated that the sensed distance increased when participants added socks and decreased when they removed socks, demonstrating proper sensor performance. Results from take-home testing (3–5 days) suggest that research investigation into cyclic limb motion for sock presence v. absence should be pursued, as should the influence of bodily position between bouts of walking. These variables may have an important influence on suspension. Long-term monitoring may provide clinical insight to improve fit and to enhance suction and elevated vacuum technology. The paper presents the results of an experimental study of the axial structure of the longitudinal RF magnetic field and parameters of the plasma of an inductive low-power plasma source placed in a magnetic field of 12–72 G. It is shown that, already in a magnetic field of 24 G, a nonmonotonic dependence of the longitudinal component of the RF magnetic field on the axial coordinate is clearly manifested. The change in the phase of the RF field indicates that a partially traveling wave is formed in the discharge. Probe measurements show that the electron energy distribution function is enriched with fast electrons whose velocity correlates with the phase velocity of the wave. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Editors and reviewers often issue clarion calls for interesting research with novel theoretical contributions. In response to these calls, scholars often gravitate toward emerging phenomena—novel contexts lacking scholarly community or hot contexts with growing interest. However, simply examining novel and hot phenomena is insufficient to carve an "interesting" theoretical contribution. The promise of studying emerging phenomenon may be seductive, but doing so can also introduce under examined perils. We argue that novel and hot phenomena have distinct promises and perils that are under appreciated—with significant consequences for scholarly careers. Novel phenomena can provide first mover advantages to scholars and generate much interest but may constitute a lonely, risky journey if an appropriate theoretical community does not emerge. Hot topics attract significant attention, but can also be marked by conceptual confusion, fragmenting the accumulation of knowledge as scholars struggle to differentiate their work within a rapidly growing field. Yet, what is considered novel or hot is dynamic. Scholarly interest in novel phenomena can wax, ignite fascination, and become hot or wane with skeptical, uncertain acceptance, influencing both promises and perils. We contribute strategies to help strategy and organization scholars mitigate the perils and amplify the promises of theorizing from novel and hot phenomena. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

The current research study aimed at focusing on understanding how authentic leadership can lead to better critical thinking, and if there was an influence of authentic leadership on critical thinking from perspective of leaders within Kuwaiti Islamic banks. Quantitative approach was utilized for this sake, a questionnaire was handled by (223) individuals within Islamic banks in Kuwait. Variables of authentic leadership were adopted (Transparency, Morals, Balanced Processing and Self-Awareness). Statistical Package for the Social Sciences (SPSS) v. 23rd was used to screen and analyze gathered data. Results of study accepted current research hypothesis and it appeared that authentic leadership dimensions has the ability to increase critical thinking among leaders. In addition to that, it appeared that self-awareness is the most influential among the rest of the dimensions of authentic leadership is closely related to the ability of authentic leadership to help the leaders see themselves from the inside in terms of strengths and weaknesses, and in terms of the level of values adopted by the leader and the leader's point of view, their leadership style and leadership abilities and how these abilities will affect the work environment. Based on results, study recommended developing the skill of impartiality within individuals; this can take place through training them to judge things objectively and impartially. In addition to train them to overcome prejudice by having the courage to face private thoughts and beliefs, and put them to the test before accepting them, which helps to look at things differently. Photovoltaic (PV) plants are playing an increasingly important role in the power system, and research focuses on their reliability and security have notably grown in recent years. To ensure the stable operation of PV plants, the low voltage ride-through (LVRT) strategy is attracting lots of academic and industrial interest. This is because the LVRT can prevent PV plants from being immediately disconnected during grid faults, which helps avoid slower recovery and extended power outages. Hence, this work proposes to enhance the LVRT capability of the PV plant using superconducting fault current limiters (SFCLs). Besides, the impacts of various types of SFCLs on the LVRT characteristics of the PV plant are thoroughly analyzed. Moreover, this work investigates the performance of various types of SFCLs in enhancing the LVRT capability of PV plants and achieving current-limiting effects, providing valuable insights for the design of SFCLs. A model of a real 35 kV grid-connected PV plant with SFCLs is built, and the theoretical analysis is validated. The results demonstrate the feasibility and superiority of using SFCL in enhancing the LVRT capability of PV plants, serving as a reference for the application of SFCLs in renewable energy stations. The Inductive Bible Study method is a hermeneutical approach and process for studying the Bible. Focusing on the final form of the text and trying to minimize or eliminate presuppositions, it takes into consideration all relevant sources of evidence, observing and examining the text, asking questions from the observations, and answering them, primarily from the text itself, but with the flexibility to incorporate other types of evidence from outside the text if the text itself demands it for clearer understanding. The inductive method (IBS), as described and demonstrated in this article, emphasizes both the form and content of the text, focusing on the various contexts of the text. Matthew 16:13–28 is used to illustrate certain aspects of the method, and the telic benediction in Hebrews 13:20–21 serves as the main example of a text to which the IBS method is applied to yield text-centered results over against an emphasis on foreground or background matters. The results are often profound and always come straight from the context of the text being studied.

The paper presents the results of an experimental study of a low-power RF inductive plasma source placed in a longitudinal magnetic field. The measurements show the formation of an ion-accelerating potential drop at the source output with its value depending on the magnetic field and the flow rate of the working gas. The parameters of the electron and ion flows generated by the source nonmonotonically change with the magnetic field. In the main range of the studied magnetic fields, the electron flux generated by the source at the axis of the system exceeds the ion flux, and the average electron energy increases with the magnetic field. Abstract Background Person-centred care (PCC) is promoted as an innovation that will improve patients’ rights and increase their participation in healthcare. Experience shows that the implementation of PCC is challenging and often results in varying levels of adoption. How health care professionals (HCPs) perceive an innovation such as PCC is an important factor to consider in implementation. Yet, such studies are scarce. Thus, in a sample of healthcare units in a region in Sweden, involved in a transition to PCC, we aimed to investigate HCPs’ perceptions of PCC. Methods An interview study was conducted in 2018 during the implementation of PCC with HCPs (n = 97) representing diverse vocational roles in six healthcare contexts. Data were collected via focus groups (n = 15), dyadic interviews (n = 5), and individual interviews (n = 22) and analysed using a deductive–inductive content analysis. The deductive approach was guided by the Consolidated Framework for Implementation Research (CFIR), followed by an inductive analysis to describe HCPs’ in-depth perceptions of PCC in relation to each of the CFIR constructs. Results Eight constructs from two of the CFIR domains, Intervention characteristics and Inner setting, were used to code HCPs’ perceptions of PCC. One construct, Observability, was added to the coding sheet to fully describe all the data. The constructs Relative advantage, Complexity, Compatibility, Observability, and Available resources were discussed in depth by HCPs and resulted in rich and detailed data in the inductive data analysis. This analysis showed large variations in perceptions of PCC among HCPs, based on factors such as the PCCs ethical underpinnings, its operationalisation into concrete working routines, and each HCPs’ unique recognition of PCC and the value they placed on it. Conclusions We identified nine CFIR constructs that seem pertinent to HCPs’ perceptions of PCC. HCPs report an array of mixed perceptions of PCC, underlining its complex nature. The perceptions are shaped by a range of factors, such as their individual understandings of the concept and the operationalisation of PCC in their local context. Stakeholders in charge of implementing PCC might use the results as a guide, delineating factors that may be important to consider in a wide range of healthcare contexts.

In recent years, ecologists have embraced the human dimensions of their discipline and expanded their remit to explore issues traditionally addressed by the social sciences and environmental humanities. This expansion offers opportunities to engage with diverse methodologies, some of which challenge the orthodoxies of conservation research; however, ecologists do not have the expertise to use social science methodologies in their work. In this Toolkit, we outline ways to improve social‐ecological research and outcomes through partnerships with qualitative researchers. Ecologists – who lack the epistemological and methodological preparation needed for productive qualitative or mixed methods study design – have often used quantitative methods to investigate social‐ecological systems. Though this has enhanced our ecological knowledge and led to the development of evidence‐based conservation practices, the biodiversity crisis continues to worsen as a result of human behaviours. Qualitative inquiry offers powerful insights into the drivers of social and behavioural phenomena but remains under‐represented in ecological research despite its broadening demographic. This presents a substantial missed opportunity that warrants rectifying. Here, we outline the qualitative research paradigm and highlight its benefits to ecology and ecologists. We also discuss a range of pitfalls and caveats ecologists encounter by not using appropriate qualitative research designs to support the exploration of their questions. We conclude by providing guidance for ecologists who intend to conduct research embracing qualitative or mixed paradigm designs. In order to address the human dimensions of ecology and conservation, it is essential to engage qualitative experts within and beyond the ecological science community. When fruitful collaborations form, research teams are able to approach some of ecology's most challenging problems from new perspectives, incorporating the views and knowledge of stakeholders on whom we rely for success. A unified conceptual framework for river corridors requires synthesis of diverse site‐, method‐ and discipline‐specific findings. The river research community has developed a substantial body of observations and process‐specific interpretations, but we are still lacking a comprehensive model to distill this knowledge into fundamental transferable concepts. We confront the challenge of how a discipline classically organized around the deductive model of systematically collecting of site‐, scale‐, and mechanism‐specific observations begins the process of synthesis. Machine learning is particularly well‐suited to inductive generation of hypotheses. In this study, we prototype an inductive approach to holistic synthesis of river corridor observations, using support vector machine regression to identify potential couplings or feedbacks that would not necessarily arise from classical approaches. This approach generated 672 relationships linking a suite of 157 variables each measured at 62 locations in a fifth order river network. Eighty four percent of these relationships have not been previously investigated, and representing potential (hypothetical) process connections. We document relationships consistent with current understanding including hydrologic exchange processes, microbial ecology, and the River Continuum Concept, supporting that the approach can identify meaningful relationships in the data. Moreover, we highlight examples of two novel research questions that stem from interpretation of inductively‐generated relationships. This study demonstrates the implementation of machine learning to sieve complex data sets and identify a small set of candidate relationships that warrant further study, including data types not commonly measured together. This structured approach complements traditional modes of inquiry, which are often limited by disciplinary perspectives and favour the careful pursuit of parsimony. Finally, we emphasize that this approach should be viewed as a complement to, rather than in place of, more traditional, deductive approaches to scientific discovery. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Magnetic and inductive sensors are the dominant technologies in angular position sensing for automotive applications. This paper introduces a new angular sensor: a hybrid concept combining the magnetic Hall and inductive principles. A magnetic Hall transducer provides an accurate angle from 0° to 180°, whereas an inductive transducer provides a coarse angle from 0° to 360°. For this novel concept, a hybrid target with a magnetic and inductive signature is also needed. Using the two principles at the same time enables superior performances, in terms of range, compactness and robustness, that are not possible when used separately. We realized and characterized a prototype. The prototype achieves a 360° range, has a high accuracy and is robust against mechanical misalignments, stray fields and stray metals. The measurement results demonstrate that the two sensing principles are completely independent, thereby opening the doors for hybrid optimum magnetic–inductive designs beyond the usual trade-offs (range vs. resolution, size vs. robustness to misalignment). The articles in this special issue apply a variety of theoretical and methodological perspectives to quantitative and qualitative data gathered in eight third‐year, intermediate second‐language (L2) Spanish classes at three U.S. high schools (N = 195). The goal of this research was to document grammatical development through two forms of explicit instruction on the pronoun se: one involving deductive rule presentations, and the other involving an inductive "co‐construction" of grammatical rules with learners (Adair‐Hauck et al., 2005). After reviewing cognitive and social approaches to explicit instruction, I present the context and procedures for data gathering, followed by an overview of the main findings in each article. While quantitative results suggest a somewhat stronger performance for the deductive group, qualitative evidence suggests a more challenging task for teachers implementing co‐construction. I conclude emphasizing the value of high‐quality explicit instruction to L2 development and the importance of teachers in making that happen. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Deductive and inductive reasoning are fundamental logical processes critical to the solution of common practical problems in daily life. We used functional magnetic resonance imaging (fMRI) to investigate the brain networks involved in Contradictory, Deductive, and Inductive judgments. The experimental paradigm was based on categorical propositions of the Aristotelian Square of Opposition (ASoO). In a full factorial design, identical sentences were combined into premise–conclusion pairs. Each sentence started with 'every' or 'some'. The order of the two propositions in the pair created two types of logical operators (every→some: deductive, or some→every: inductive). The descriptive attributes of the category could be Contradictory or non-Contradictory. Imaging data was analyzed using Group Independent component analysis of fMRI Toolbox (GIFT). Connectivity of nodes within four intrinsic connectivity networks (ICNs) was sensitive to attribute manipulation (Contradiction): the anterior default mode network (aDMN), and the language and cerebellum networks were more involved in Contradictory than non-Contradictory statements, while the anterior salience network (aSN) showed the opposite pattern. Five networks were associated with logical operator manipulation. Stronger positive associations with Inductive than Deductive reasoning were observed in the dorsal and ventral parts of the aDMN, aSN, and orbitofrontal networks (OFN). A stronger negative association with deductive than inductive reasoning was observed in the executive control (ExCN) and dorsal attention (DAN) networks. Differences in the fractional amplitude of low‐frequency fluctuation of the BOLD signal in aDMN, ExCN, and OFN explained 67% of the variance of the behavioural cost of inductive relative to deductive reasoning. The results suggest that different ICNs support logical reasoning and conflict identification. Finally, the magnitude of the differences was positively correlated with behavioural cost. In the wide field of tumor treatment, thermal ablation procedures are very promising. Alternating magnetic fields are used to transfer the energy from outside the patient to the tumor area located anywhere in the body. This energy is converted to heat by implanted devices located in the tumor area. In this paper, the spatial distribution of the magnetic field of different circular coil configurations is analyzed and optimized with focus on patients’ safety and on coil configuration performance. The analysis is based on several performance criteria and is conducted with respect to the worst case scenario of a contactless thermal tumor ablation of deep-seated tumors, in which the energy has to be transferred over a considerably large distance. The magnetic field and the specific absorption rate (SAR) are calculated numerically and the performance criteria are evaluated based on a model of a human body including a tumor area. The most suitable coil configurations for different application scenarios are presented and a thermal analysis is done. Based on this, the minimum required heating power, coil current and number of coil windings, and the corresponding maximum SAR to achieve an adequate rise of tissue temperature are evaluated. For a heating power of 1.45 W, a minimum SAR of 130 mW/kg, a maximum power transfer efficiency of 1.05%, and a maximum coupling coefficient of 0.00695 is achieved. This article presents a new method to design the coils of a series-series inductive power transfer system taking into consideration the compensation network, the battery charging profile and the efficiency of the system. Harmonic balance technique is used to derive the transient and steady-state model of the coil. Equations defining the possible frequency trajectories for the entire charging profile are derived. A design algorithm for the coil and selection of the compensation network capacitance is presented. To prevent the frequency splitting phenomenon a reduction of the secondary (receiver coil) inductance value is required. To this end the condition under which frequency splitting occurs is derived, without any simplifying assumptions, and used to guide the selection of the new secondary inductor value. An analysis for the redesigned system with the reduced secondary inductance is presented. It is observed that operating the system close to the transmitter coil resonant frequency results in both zero voltage switching and optimum efficiency. For the redesigned system, the upper frequency trajectory of the system operates close to the resonant frequency of the transmitter coil and hence ensuring high efficiency and zero voltage switching.
