Objective: To evaluate the effect of four different photoactivation protocols (according to “photoactivated faces” - mesial/distal, cervical/incisal or center - and “photoactivation time” - 6–3 s) of a high-power photo activator (Valo Cordless®-Ultradent) on the shear bond strength (SBS) between metal brackets and dental enamel and on the degree of conversion (DC) of an orthodontic resin. Materials and methods: 40 bovine incisor crowns were randomly assigned to 4 groups (n = 10). The brackets were bonded with Transbond XT® resin using 4 protocols according to the “photoactivation protocol” factor (which was subdivided into photoactivated faces and photoactivation time): V3C = 3 s + center; V6C = 6 s + center; V3M3D = 3 s on mesial + 3 s on distal; V3C3I = 3 s on cervical + 3 s on incisal. All the samples were stored for 4 months (water,37ºC) and then subjected to a SBS test (100KgF,1 mm/min). 40 resin discs were made to evaluate the monomer degree of conversion. Data from the SBS and DC were assessed by One-way ANOVA and Tukey’s test (5%). Bond failures were analyzed according to the Adhesive Remnant Index (ARI) and evaluated by the Kruskal-Wallis test (5%). Results: There was a statistically significant difference (p = 0.008) in the One-way ANOVA result for SBS values between all groups, but the protocols showed statistically similar results (p ≥ 0.05–Tukey’s tests) concerning the photoactivated faces (V6C, V3M3D and V3C3I) and photoactivation time (V3C and V6C) factors individually. There was no statistically significant difference (p ≥ 0.05) in the One-way ANOVA result for DC values. Conclusion: The SBS and DC values will vary depending on the protocol applied. Clinical relevance: It is possible to maintain the bracket fixation quality with the use of a high-power LED photo activator associated with a shorter photoactivation time. However, it is assumed that not all types of protocols that might be applied will provide quality bonding, such as V3C, V3M3D and V3C3I, which may - depending on the SBS and DC values - affect the final treatment time, due to brackets debonding, or increase of possibility of damage to dental enamel during bracket removal. Cardiovascular surgery has a high risk of neurological complications, which can increase the burden of disease. Perioperative real⁃time monitoring of neurological function in cardiovascular surgery can assist clinicians to detect neurological abnormalities as early as possible, intervene and reduce the risk of neurological complications in time. The main monitoring indicators include cerebral oxygen saturation (ScO2), EEG, cerebral blood flow (CBF), etc. In this paper, the common perioperative neuromonitoring techniques and their research advances in cardiovascular surgery are reviewed to provide theoretical basis for reducing neurological complications and improve the prognosis of patients.

In this study, we synthesized and employed an ionic gel-functionalized silica stationary phase for high-performance liquid chromatography. The successful fabrication of the stationary phase was confirmed through attenuated total reflection-Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (ATR-FTIR), X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS), zeta-potential measurements, and elemental analysis (EA). Comparative performance evaluation against a commercial column demonstrated the prepared column's effectiveness in the mixed mode of reversed-phase liquid chromatography (RPLC), hydrophilic interaction liquid chromatography (HILIC), and ion chromatography (IC). Moreover, the stationary phase exhibited exceptional retention repeatability in per aqueous liquid chromatography, showcasing its potential as an environmentally friendly analytical method. Mechanistic investigations unveiled multiple solute-stationary phase interactions, including π-π interactions, hydrogen bonding, and ion exchange. The goal of preparative chromatography is to isolate suitable amounts of compound(s) at the required purity in the most cost-effective way. This study analyses the power of High-performance thin-layer chromatography (HPTLC) guided preparative flash chromatography to separate and isolate bioactive compounds from an olive flower extract for their further characterisation via spectroscopy. The structure and purity of isolated bioactive compounds were assessed using Fourier-transform infrared (FTIR) and nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR) spectroscopy. Flash chromatography of the olive flower extract successfully isolated pure oleanolic and maslinic acids. Bacterial coaggregation is a highly specific type of cell-cell interaction, well-documented among oral bacteria, and involves specific characteristics of the cell surface of the coaggregating strains. However, the understanding of the mechanisms promoting coaggregation in aquatic systems remains limited. This gap is critical to address, given the broad implications of coaggregation for multispecies biofilm formation, water quality, the performance of engineered systems, and diverse biotechnological applications. Therefore, this study aims to comprehensively characterize the cell surface of the coaggregating strain Delftia acidovorans 005P, isolated from drinking water, alongside a non-coaggregating strain, D. acidovorans 009P. By analyzing two strains of the same species, we aim to identify the factors contributing to the coaggregation ability of strain 005P. To achieve this, we employed a combination of physicochemical characterization, Fourier-transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR), and advancing imaging techniques [transmission electron microscopy and cryo-electron tomography (cryo-ET)]. The coaggregating strain (005P) exhibited higher surface hydrophobicity, negative surface charge, and cell surface and co-adhesion energies than the non-coaggregating strain (009P). The chemical characterization of bacterial surfaces through FTIR revealed subtle differences, particularly in spectral regions linked to carbohydrates and phosphodiesters/amide III of proteins (860-930 cm -1 and 1212-1240 cm -1 , respectively). Cryo-ET highlighted significant differences in pili structures between the strains, such as variations in length, frequency, and arrangement. The pili in the 005P strain, identified as pili-like adhesins, serve as key mediators of coaggregation. The aging process of microplastics (MPs) affects their surface physicochemical properties, thereby influencing their behaviors in releasing harmful chemicals, adsorption of organic contaminants, sinking, and more. Understanding the aging process is crucial for evaluating MPs' environmental behaviors and risks, but tracing the aging process remains challenging. Here, we propose a multimodal deep learning model to trace typical aging factors of aged MPs based on MPs' physicochemical characteristics. A total of 1353 surface morphology images and 1353 Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy spectra were achieved from 130 aged MPs undergoing different aging processes, demonstrating that physicochemical properties of aged MPs vary from aging processes. The multimodal deep learning model achieved an accuracy of 93% in predicting the major aging factors of aged MPs. The multimodal deep learning model improves the model's accuracy by approximately 5-20% and reduces prediction bias compared to the single-modal model. In practice, the established model was performed to predict the major aging factors of naturally aged MPs collected from typical environment matrices. The prediction results aligned with the aging conditions of specific environments, as reported in previous studies. Our findings provide new insights into tracing and understanding the plastic aging process, contributing more accurately to the environmental risk assessment of aged MPs.

So far, compliance with ISO 3632 standard specifications for top-quality saffron guarantees good agricultural and post-harvest production practices. Tracking early-stage oxidation remains challenging. Our study aims to address this issue by exploring the visible, fluorescence, and near-infrared spectra of category I saffron. Using a multi-spectral sensor, we tested fresh and artificially aged saffron in powder form. High autofluorescence intensities at 600-700 nm allowed calibration for the 'content of aged saffron'. Samples with minimum coloring strength (200-220 units) were classified as 70% aged, while those exceeding maximum aroma strength (50 units) as 100% aged. Consistent patterns across origin, age, and processing history indicated potential for objectively assessing early-oxidation markers. Further analyses uncovered multiple contributing fluorophores, including cis-apocarotenoids, correlated with FTIR-based aging markers. The aim of this research was to graft gallic acid (GA) onto high methoxyl pectin (HMP) through the redox-pair of ascorbic acid (Aa) and hydrogen peroxide (H 2 O 2 ) with one- and two-pot procedures. The effectiveness of the both procedures and the chemical, physical and antioxidant properties of the obtained HMP-GA were evaluated. HMP-GA one-pot (23.3 ± 0.21 mg GA Equivalent (GAE)/g) and HMP-GA two-pot (32.3 ± 0.52 mg GAE/g) were best obtained at H 2 O 2 /Aa molar ratio-HMP/GA weight ratio of 9.0-0.5 and 16.0-0.5, respectively. The UV-Vis and FT-IR spectra and along with their derivative and thermal gravimetric analyses, revealed differences between HMP-GA one-pot and HMP-GA two-pot . The latter exhibited a greater antioxidant capacity than the former in single electron transfer (ET), hydrogen atom transfer (HAT), and ET-HAT mixed assays. The chemical differences can be attributed to side reactions that may have interfered with the grafting reaction. The global prevalence of obesity more than doubled between 1990 and 2022. By 2022, 2.5 billion adults aged 18 and older were overweight, with over 890 million of them living with obesity. The urgent need for understanding the impact of high-fat diet, together with the demanding of analytical methods with low energy/chemicals consumption, can be fulfilled by rapid, high-throughput spectroscopic techniques. To understand the impact of high-fat diet on the metabolic signatures of mouse cecal contents, we characterized metabolite variations in two diet-groups (standard vs high-fat diet) using FTIR spectroscopy and multivariate analysis. Their cecal content showed distinct spectral features corresponding to high- and low-molecular-weight metabolites. Further quantification of 13 low-molecular-weight metabolites using liquid chromatography showed significant reduction in the production of short chain fatty acids and amino acids associated with high-fat diet samples. Wastewater containing phosphorus is often added by industrial activities, which is bad for the environment. In this study, composite biochar (PG-RS700) was prepared from phosphogypsum (PG) and rape straw (RS) for the treatment of phosphate in wastewater. SEM, FTIR, XRD and XPS characterization results showed that PG and RS were successfully combined. When PG-RS700 was dosed at 1.5 g/L and the phosphate solution concentration was 50 mg/L and pH = 8, the phosphate removal rate was 100% and the adsorption capacity was three times higher than the corresponding pure PG and RS. The quasi-secondary kinetic model indicated that the adsorption mechanism was chemisorption, and the maximum adsorption capacity for phosphate in the Langmuir isotherm model was 102.25 mg/g. Through pot experiment, the phosphorus adsorbed material obviously promoted the growth of plants. Pharmaceutical effluents generated during drugs production and application are often times released into the water systems with little or no treatment, which could pose potential danger to the ecosystem. Advanced oxidation processes for organic pollutants treatment have gained wide consideration due to their effectiveness. In this work, hydrogen peroxide (H 2 O 2 ) and hydrogen peroxide-supported nano zerovalent iron (H 2 O 2 @nZVIs) were deployed to study pharmaceutical effluents (PE) degradation via batch experiments, under various reaction time, (H 2 O 2 ) and (H 2 O 2 @nZVIs) concentrations, pH, PE concentration, and temperature. The nZVIs was prepared from the green synthesis of Vernonia amygdalina leaf extract and characterized using different analytical tools such as Fourier Transform-Infrared Spectroscopy (FT-IR), Gas Chromatography Mass Spectroscopy (GC-MS), Scanning Electron Microscopy (SEM), and X-Ray Diffraction Spectroscopy (XRD). The FT-IR results showed the presence of -C = O, -NH, -OH, -C = C and, -C-O functional groups, SEM report showed that the morphology of the nZVIs is round in shape, while GC-MS revealed the presence of several phytochemicals. When the concentration of the effluent was increased from 10 to 30 ml, the percentage decolourization decreased from 74.74 to 51.96% and from 80.36 to 54.38% for H 2 O 2 and H 2 O 2 @nZVI respectively, whereas when the contact time was increased from 10 to 60 min, the percentage decolourization rose from 70.39 to 83.49% for H 2 O 2 and from 85.19 to 89.73% when H 2 O 2 @nZVI was used. When the effect of pH was assessed, it was observed that on increasing the pH from 2 to 10, the percentage decolourization rose from 74.5 to 80.25% for H 2 O 2 , however, with H 2 O 2 @nZVI, the percentage decolourization decreased from 81.50 to 68%. Maximum percentage decolourization of 57.10% and 94.56% for H 2 O 2 and H 2 O 2 @nZVI was achieved at catalyst volume of 25 ml. For all the parameters tested, the H 2 O 2 @nZVIs performed much better indicating that the nZVIs enhanced the decolourization ability of the H 2 O 2 . The kinetic results showed that the decolorization of pharmaceutical effluent by both catalysts fitted very well with the second-order model, while thermodynamic properties of enthalpy change were found to be 10.025 and 27.005 kJ/mol/K for H 2 O 2 and H 2 O 2 @nZVIs respectively suggesting that the oxidation process is endothermic in nature. Triple negative breast cancer (TNBC) is one of the most difficult of all types of breast cancer to treat. TNBC is characterized by the absence of estrogen receptor, progesterone receptor, and human epidermal growth factor receptor 2. The development of effective drugs can help to alleviate the suffering of patients. The novel nickel(II)-based coordination polymer (CP), [Ni 2 (HL)(O)(H 2 O) 3 ·H 2 O] (1) (where H 4 L=[1,1':2',1''-triphenyl]-3,3'',4',5'-tetracarboxylic acid), was synthesized via solvothermal reaction in this study. The overall structure of CP1 was fully identified by SXRD, Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy and elemental analysis. Using advanced chemical synthesis, we developed Hyaluronic Acid/Carboxymethyl Chitosan-CP1@Doxorubicin (HA/CMCS-CP1@DOX), a nanocarrier system encapsulating doxorubicin (DOX), which was thoroughly characterized using Scanning Electron Microscopy (SEM), Fourier Transform Infrared Spectroscopy (FTIR), and Thermogravimetric Analysis (TGA). These analyses confirmed the integration of doxorubicin and provided data on the nanocarriers' stability and structure. In vitro experiments showed that this system significantly downregulated Tissue Inhibitor of Metalloproteinases-1 (TIMP-1) in triple-negative breast cancer cells and inhibited their proliferation. Molecular docking simulations revealed the biological effects of CP1 are derived from its carboxyl groups. Using reinforcement learning, multiple new derivatives were generated from this compound, displaying excellent biological activities. Nanotechnology is becoming a promise for scientific advancement nowadays in areas like medicine, consumer products, energy, materials, and manufacturing. Copper oxide nanoparticles (CuO NPs) were synthesized using Ocimum lamiifolium Hochst. ex Benth and Withana somnifera (L) Dunal leaf extract via green synthetic pathway. The leaf of O. lamiifolium and W. somnifera were known to have strong antibiotic and antioxidant properties arising due to the presence of various secondary metabolites, including, flavonoids, alkaloids, saponins, tannins, cardiac glycosides, and phenolic compounds which serve as reducing, stabilizing, and capping agents for the CuO-Nanoparticles (NPs) synthesized. The biosynthesized CuO NPs were characterized based on Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy, X-ray diffraction spectroscopy, and scanning electron microscopy. O. lamiifolium and W. somnifera leaf extract mediated synthesis could produce CuO NPs with average crystallite size of 15 nm and 19 nm, respectively. The biosynthesized CuO-NPs were further examined for antibacterial activity with Gram-positive (S. aureus) and Gram-negative bacteria (E. coli and P. aeruginosa). The GZDK-CuO NPs synthesized using W. somnifera leaf extract inhibited the growth of E. coli. and P. aeruginosa largely in comparison to S. aureus. Whereas the DMAZ-CuO NPs synthesized with the help of O. lamiifolium leaf extract showed higher bacterial inhibition on E. coli compared to S. aureus and P. aeruginosa. The minimum inhibitory concentration (MIC) values of both types of NPs are also assessed on all three pathogens. The purpose of the current work was to develop and characterize ethosomes of vitamin D3 gel that could more effectively work against psoriasis. Psoriasis is a chronic immune-mediated inflammatory skin disease. Due to vitamin D3 role in proliferation and maturation of keratinocytes, it has become an important local therapeutic option in the treatment of psoriasis. In this research we have initiated worked on ethosomes gels containing vitamin D3 to treat psoriasis. Soya lecithin 1-8% (w/v), propylene glycol and ethanol were used to create the formulations, which were then tested for vesicle size, shape, surface morphology, entrapment effectiveness, and in vitro drug permeation. The drug encapsulation efficiency of ethosomes was 96.25% ± 0.3. The particle sizes of the optimized ethosomes was 148 and 657 nm, and the PDI value was 0.770 ± 0.12 along with negative charge - 14 ± 3. Fourier transform infrared (FT-IR) spectroscopy and differential scanning calorimetry (DSC) along with thermogravimetric analysis (TGA) studies confirmed the absence of interactions between vitamin D3 and other ingredients. It was determined that the total amount of medication that penetrated the membrane was 95.34% ± 3. Percentage lysis was very negligible for all strengths which were found less than 15%. Based on our research, ethosomes appear to be safe for use. The vitamin D3 ethosomal gel order, description, pH, and viscosity were all within the specified ranges, according to the findings of a 6-month investigation into the stability profile of the completed system. Sesamin, a lignan component of sesame seed oil, has shown pharmacologic benefits, such as anti-oxidative and anti-inflammatory qualities. However, the amount of data available to the field is surprisingly sparse, as for instance there is no known spectroscopic characterization of sesamin. This work provides the first experimental infrared spectrum of sesamin. Sesamin powder was subjected to experimental Fourier-transform infrared spectroscopy, and the resulting spectrum was compared to quantum chemical calculations of sesamin's stereoisomers in various hydration states. Major peaks of sesamin were assigned vibrational modes through comparison of computed and observed spectra. To remove phosphate from water, a novel Fe-doped ZIF-8 was synthesized as a superior adsorbent. The Fe-doped ZIF-8 was fully characterized using different characterization techniques and it was found that the as-prepared Fe-doped ZIF-8 (denoted as ZIF-(2Zn:1Fe)) showed a polyhedral morphology with a large specific surface area of 157.64 m2/g and an average pore size of 3.055 nm. Analyses using Fourier transform infrared (FTIR) spectroscopy and X-ray diffraction showed that Fe atoms were successfully incorporated into the ZIF-8 skeleton. Batch experiments demonstrated that the molar ratio of Fe and Zn has effects on phosphate adsorption. The adsorption kinetics conformed to a pseudo-second-order model with a high correlation coefficient (R2 = 0.9983). The adsorption isotherm matched the Langmuir model (R2 = 0.9994) better than the Freundlich model (R2 = 0.7501), suggesting that the adsorption of phosphoric acid by ZIF-(2Zn:1Fe) can be classified as a chemisorption on a homogeneous surface. The adsorption amount was 38.60 mg/g. It was found that acidic environments favored the adsorption reaction and the best adsorption was achieved at an initial pH of 2. Inhibition of adsorption by common anions is NO3-> CO32-> SO42-> Cl-. The 3D printing technique has recently become more prevalent among researchers for the fabrication of nanocomposites. The low crystallinity of polylactic acid (PLA) leads to the poor mechanical and thermal properties of its 3D-printed products, which restrict their applications in many fields. To overcome the limitations of PLA, the present work aims to develop PLA-based bionanocomposite filaments with varying percentages (1, 3, and 5 wt%) of crystalline nanocellulose (CNC) through a single screw extruder. The filaments will be further utilized for the development of bionanocomposite samples to evaluate their properties. The effect of CNC reinforcement on the chemical structure of the filaments was analyzed by FTIR analysis. XRD analysis revealed that the crystallinity of the filaments was significantly improved due to the nucleating effect of CNC. The maximum crystallinity was observed in the filament containing 1 wt% CNC, which was 26% higher than the pure PLA filament. The thermal and mechanical performance of the filaments was also considerably improved after CNC reinforcement, which was confirmed by DSC-TGA and tensile test analysis. The maximum tensile strength and tensile modulus were observed to be 48.9 MPa and 1700 MPa, respectively, in the filament reinforced with 1 wt% CNC, which was 35.5% and 21.89%, respectively, higher than those of the pure PLA filament. Photodynamic therapy (PDT) is a promising cancer treatment approach. Indocyanine green (ICG) is a water-soluble tricarbocyanine dye with a peak absorption wavelength of around 800 nm and possesses the capacity to produce reactive oxygen species. FTIR spectroscopy is rarely used and offers insights into molecular changes in cancer studies. MCF-7 cells were injected into Nude mouse. Once the tumor had grown to a size of 3-4 mm, mice were randomized into the 12 PDT groups. After each mouse received 5 mg/kg of ICG, they were photo-irradiated with a diode laser emitting light at 809 nm, followed by waiting intervals of 0, 30, 60, and 90 min. Laser irradiation parameters were 150, 250, 500 mW/cm2 and irradiation duration was 1200s. The tumor size was measured every day for four days. The FTIR spectroscopy was used to perform spectral analysis on tumor tissue samples. Four distinct regions (3600-2800 cm-1, 1750-1550 cm-1, 1540-1450 cm-1, and 1700-1100 cm-1) were analyzed, and Hierarchical Cluster study was carried out. A decrease in tumor volume was observed with all PDT applications, except, increases in tumor volume was observed at 150mW 90-minute group. PDT administered after 90 min revealed variations in 150mW and 250mW laser powers in the 3600 cm-1-2800 cm-1 range. Background: Craniofacial bone regeneration represents a dynamic area within tissue engineering and regenerative medicine. Central to this field, is the continual exploration of new methodologies for template fabrication, leveraging established bio ceramic materials, with the objective of restoring bone integrity and facilitating successful implant placements., Methods: Photopolymerized templates were prepared using three distinct bio ceramic materials, specifically a wet chemically synthesized bioactive glass and two commercially sourced hydroxyapatite variants. These templates underwent comprehensive characterization to assess their physicochemical and mechanical attributes, employing techniques including Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy, scanning electron microscopy, and nano-computed tomography. Evaluation of their biocompatibility was conducted through interaction with primary human osteoblasts (hOB) and subsequent examination using scanning electron microscopy., Results: The results demonstrated that composite showed intramolecular hydrogen bonding interactions with the photopolymer, while computerized tomography unveiled the porous morphology and distribution within the templates. A relatively higher porosity percentage (31.55 ± 8.70%) and compressive strength (1.53 ± 0.11 MPa) was noted for bioactive glass templates. Human osteoblast cultured on bioactive glass showed higher viability compared to other specimens. Scanning micrographs of human osteoblast on templated showed cellular adhesion and the presence of filopodia and lamellipodia., Conclusion: In summary these templates have the potential to be used for alveolar bone regeneration in critical size defect. Multi-drug resistance (MDR) infections are a significant global challenge, necessitating innovative and eco-friendly approaches for developing effective antimicrobial agents. This study focuses on the synthesis, characterization, and evaluation of cerium oxide nanoparticles (CeO 2 NPs) for their antioxidant, anti-inflammatory, and antibacterial properties. The CeO 2 NPs were synthesized using a Tribulus terrestris aqueous extract through an environmentally friendly process. Characterization techniques included UV-visible spectroscopy, Fourier Transform Infrared Spectroscopy (FT-IR), x-ray Diffraction (XRD), Scanning Electron Microscopy (SEM), and Energy Dispersive x-ray (EDX) analysis. The UV-vis spectroscopy shows the presence of peak at 320 nm which confirms the formation of CeO 2 NPs. The FT-IR analysis of the CeO 2 NPs revealed several distinct functional groups, with peak values at 3287, 2920, 2340, 1640, 1538, 1066, 714, and 574 cm -1 . These peaks correspond to specific functional groups, including C-H stretching in alkynes and alkanes, C=C=O, C=C, alkanes, C-O-C, C-Cl, and C-Br, indicating the presence of diverse chemical bonds within the CeO 2 NPs. XRD revealed that the nanoparticles were highly crystalline with a face-centered cubic structure, and SEM images showed irregularly shaped, agglomerated particles ranging from 100-150 nm. In terms of biological activity, the synthesized CeO 2 NPs demonstrated significant antioxidant and anti-inflammatory properties. The nanoparticles exhibited 82.54% antioxidant activity at 100 μg ml -1 , closely matching the 83.1% activity of ascorbic acid. Additionally, the CeO 2 NPs showed 65.2% anti-inflammatory activity at the same concentration, compared to 70.1% for a standard drug. Antibacterial testing revealed that the CeO 2 NPs were particularly effective against multi-drug resistant strains, including Pseudomonas aeruginosa , Enterococcus faecalis , and MRSA, with moderate activity against Klebsiella pneumoniae . Background: Silver nanoparticles are extensively researched for their antimicrobial properties. Cold atmospheric plasma, containing reactive oxygen and nitrogen species, is increasingly used for disinfecting microbes, wound healing, and cancer treatment. Therefore, this study examined the effect of water activated by dielectric barrier discharge (DBD) plasma and gliding arc discharge plasma on the antimicrobial activity of silver nanoparticles from Alborzia kermanshahica., Methods: Silver nanoparticles were synthesized using the boiling method, as well as biomass from Alborzia kermanshahica extract grown in water activated by DBD and GA plasma. The physicochemical properties of the synthesized nanoparticles were evaluated using UV-vis spectroscopy, Fourier-transform infrared (FTIR) spectroscopy, dynamic light scattering (DLS), zeta potential analysis, transmission electron microscopy (TEM), and gas chromatography-mass spectrometry (GC-MS) analysis. Additionally, the disk diffusion method was used to assess the antimicrobial efficacy of the manufactured nanoparticles against both Gram-positive and Gram-negative bacteria., Results: The spectroscopy results verified the presence of silver nanoparticles, indicating their biosynthesis. The highest amount of absorption (1.049) belonged to the nanoparticles synthesized by boiling under GA plasma conditions. Comparing the FTIR spectra of the plasma-treated samples with DBD and GA revealed that the DBD-treated samples had more intense peaks, indicating that the DBD method proved to be more effective in enhancing the functional groups on the silver nanoparticles. The DLS results revealed that the boiling method synthesized silver nanoparticles under DBD plasma treatment had a smaller particle size (149.89 nm) with a PDI of 0.251 compared to the GA method, and the DBD method produced nanoparticles with a higher zeta potential (27.7 mV) than the GA method, indicating greater stability of the biosynthesized nanoparticles. Moreover, the highest antimicrobial properties against E. coli (14.333 ± 0.47 mm) were found in the DBD-treated nanoparticles. TEM tests confirmed that spherical nanoparticles attacked the E. coli bacterial membrane, causing cell membrane destruction and cell death. The GC-MS results showed that compounds like 2-methylfuran, 3-methylbutanal, 2-methylbutanal, 3-hydroxy-2-butanone, benzaldehyde, 2-phenylethanol, and 3-octen-2-ol were much higher in the samples that were treated with DBD compared to the samples that were treated with GA plasma., Conclusion: The research indicated that DBD plasma was more efficient than GA plasma in boosting the antimicrobial characteristics of nanoparticles. Prolonged osteochondral tissue engineering damage can result in osteoarthritis and decreased quality of life. Multiphasic scaffolds, where different layers model different microenvironments, are a promising treatment approach, yet stable joining between layers during fabrication remains challenging. To overcome this problem, in this study, a bilayer scaffold for osteochondral tissue regeneration was fabricated using 3D printing technology which containing a layer of PCL/hydroxyapatite (HA) nanoparticles and another layer of PCL/gelatin with various concentrations of fibrin (10, 20 and 30 wt.%). These printed scaffolds were evaluated with SEM (Scanning Electron Microscopy), FTIR (Fourier Transform Infrared Spectroscopy) and mechanical properties. The results showed that the porous scaffolds fabricated with pore size of 210-255 µm. Following, the ductility increased with the further addition of fibrin in bilayer composites which showed these composites scaffolds are suitable for the cartilage part of osteochondral. Also, the contact angle results demonstrated the incorporation of fibrin in bilayer scaffolds based on PCL matrix, can lead to a decrease in contact angle and result in the improvement of hydrophilicity that confirmed by increasing the degradation rate of scaffolds containing further fibrin percentage. The bioactivity study of bilayer scaffolds indicated that both fibrin and hydroxyapatite can significantly improve the cell attachment on fabricated scaffolds. The MTT assay, DAPI and Alizarin red tests of bilayer composite scaffolds showed that samples containing 30% fibrin have the more biocompatibility than that of samples with 10 and 20% fibrin which indicated the potential of this bilayer scaffold for osteochondral tissue regeneration., (© 2024. This study reported the synthesis and characterization of chitosan-copper nanoparticles (Ch-CuNPs) using a 1% copper sulfate solution in 0.2% w/v chitosan. The Ch-CuNPs, displaying a stable brick-red hue, showed an absorption peak at 572 nm, indicative of monodisperse nanoparticle formation and surface plasmon resonance. X-ray diffraction confirmed the face-centered cubic structure with peaks at 36.78°, 43.38°, 50.56°, and 74.26°, and an average particle size of 87-89 nm. FTIR analysis showed interactions between chitosan and copper, particularly around 3370 -3226 cm⁻¹, 1633 cm⁻¹, and 680 cm⁻¹. In vitro assays revealed that Ch-CuNPs inhibited Macrophomina phaseolina growth by 18-71% at 0.03-0.09% concentrations, achieving complete inhibition at 0.12-0.15%, with PCA analysis confirming that growth peaked at lower concentrations and sharply declined at higher levels. Ch-CuNPs also altered fungal morphology and enzyme activity, with notable degradation at higher concentrations. The Cu uptake by the fungus peaked at 29.9% with 0.03% Ch-CuNPs and decreased at higher concentrations. FTIR analysis showed shifts and disappearance of peaks in fungal biomass treated with Ch-CuNPs, indicating molecular interactions and potential structural changes. The development of environmentally friendly adsorbents has become increasingly important for treating waste generated by the growing global industry. In this study, new biosorbents were synthesized from an all-natural chitosan and watermelon pulp for the treatment of congo red textile dye from water. Biosorbents were prepared by lyophilizing chitosan-added watermelon pulp (AC-WPC). The prepared biosorbents were characterized by BET, SEM, Zeta Potential and FT-IR analysews. Accordingly, the BET surface area of AC-WPC was 120.92 m 2 /g. SEM analysis showed that the structures were porous and the results were consistent with the BET analysis. FT-IR analysis confirmed the chemical structures. The isoelectric points of the biosorbents were determined by zeta potential analysis. The AC-WPC biosorbent demonstrated 86% cell viability with cytotoxicity testing. For this reason, it was determined that the AC-WPC biosorbents produced does not cause any serious damage to the cell. Following this, adsorption study of congo red textile dye in water was carried out with these biosorbents. Langmuir and Freundlich isotherms were studied in adsorption experiments, and it was found that the Freundlich isotherms were compatible. Pseudo first and second kinetic models were also studied and found to be compatible with Pseudo Second Kinetic Model. The highest adsorption capacity was observed at 100 mg/l congo red concentration with 98.02% removal and 490.1 mg/g adsorption capacity using AC-WPC. Recently, nanomaterials have attracted a lot of attention due to their potential as effective fluorescent nano-sensor probes. They were distinguishing substitutes for other luminescent techniques, such as fluorescent dyes and luminous derivatization, because of their affordability, environmental friendliness, and special photocatalytic properties. In the suggested work, a straightforward method was used to create boron and nitrogen carbon dots (B@CDs) with a good quantum yield value of 31.15 % utilizing boric acid and di-sodium EDTA. For the purpose of characterizing QDs, a variety of instruments were employed, such as transmission electron microscopy, fluorescence spectroscopy, X-ray FTIR, and UV-VIS spectroscopy. Nebivolol (NEB) is a cardiovascular medication used globally to treat congestive heart failure and hypertension, is in the meantime. For this reason, a brand-new, environmentally friendly analytical technique was created to determine the amount of human plasma, uniformity test, and commercial nebivolol (NEB) tablets. The interaction of biomacromolecules with each other or with the ligands is essential for biological activity. In this context, the molecular recognition of bovine serum albumin (BSA) with 4-(Benzo[1,3]dioxol-5-yloxymethyl)-7-hydroxy-chromen-2-one (4BHC) is explored using multispectroscopic and computational techniques. UV-Vis spectroscopy helped in predicting the conformational variations in BSA. Using fluorescence spectroscopy, the quenching behaviour of the fluorophore upon interaction with the ligand is examined, which is found to be a static type of quenching; fluorescence lifetime studies further verify this. The binding constant is discovered to be in the range of 10 4 M -1 , which indicates the moderate type of association that results in reversible binding, where the transport and release of ligands in the target tissue takes place. Fourier-transform infrared spectroscopy (FT-IR) measurements validate the secondary structure conformational changes of BSA after complexing with 4BHC. The thermodynamic factors obtained through temperature-dependent fluorescence studies suggest that the dominant kind of interaction force is hydrophobic in nature, and the interaction process is spontaneous. The alterations in the surrounding microenvironment of the binding site and conformational shifts in the structure of the protein are studied through 3D fluorescence and synchronous fluorescence studies. Molecular docking and molecular dynamics (MD) simulations agree with experimental results and explain the structural stability throughout the discussion. Nanotechnology is a fast-growing field with large number of applications. Therefore, the current study, was designed to prepare Zinc Oxide nanoparticles (ZnO NPs) from A. modesta leaves extract through a cost-effective method. The prepared NPs were characterized through UV-Vis Spectroscopy (UV-Vis), Dynamic light scattering (DLS), Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR), X-ray diffraction analysis (XRD), scanning electron microscope (SEM), and energy dispersive X-ray (EDX). The XRD and DLS analysis revealed the hexagonal nanocrystalline nature of ZnO NPs. The FTIR results displayed multiple fictional groups and UV results confirmed its optical properties. The average size of the NPs was 68.3 nm with a band gap of 2.71 eV. The SEM images divulge a clover leaf shape of ZnO NPs. The EDX spectrum revealed the presence of zinc and oxygen. The prepared NPs showed excellent biomedical application. The highest antileishmanial activity was 68%, anti-inflammatory activity was 78%, total antioxidant capacity (TAC) was 79.1%, antibacterial potential (ZOI) 22.1 mm, and highest growth inhibition of 85 ± 2.1% against A. rabiei. The adsorption efficiency of 85.3% within 120 min was obtained. Conclusively ZnO NPs have shown potential biomedical and environmental applications and ought to be the more investigated to enhance their practical use.

Nanocarriers for drugs have been investigated for decades, yet it is still challenging to achieve sustained release from nanomaterials due to drug loading inefficiency and burst release. In this study, we developed novel functional carbon dots (CDs) and investigated the therapeutic efficacy by studying the loading efficiency and release behavior of the anticancer drug doxorubicin (DOX). CDs were successfully synthesized using a one-step pyrolysis method with varying concentrations of citric acid (CA) and thiourea (TU). Functional groups, morphology, particle size, and zeta potential of synthesized CT-CDs and DOX loaded CT-CDs were investigated by UV-visible, Fluorescence, dynamic light scattering, Zeta Potential measurements, FTIR, and transmission electron microscopy. The zeta potential data revealed DOX loading onto CT-CDs by charge difference, i.e. -24.6 ± 0.44 mV (CT-CDs) and 20.57 ± 0.55 mV (DOX-CT-CDs). DOX was loaded on CDs with a loading efficiency of 88.67 ± 0.36%. In vitro drug release studies confirmed pH-dependent biphasic drug release, with an initial burst effect and sustained release of DOX was found to be 21.42 ± 0.28% (pH 5), 13.30 ± 0.03% (pH 7.4), and 13.95 ± 0.18% (pH 9) even after 144 h at 37 °C. The CT-CDs were non-toxic and biocompatible with L929 Fibroblasts cells. The cytotoxic effect of DOX-CT-CDs showed a concentration-dependent effect after 48 h with Glioblastoma U251 cells. Flow cytometry was used to examine the cellular uptake of CT-CDs and DOX-CT-CDs in L929 and U251 cells. It was observed that the maximum CT-CDs uptake was around 75% at the end of 24 h. This study showed that the synthesized fluorescent CT-CDs demonstrated a high drug loading capacity, pH-dependent sustained release of DOX, and high cellular uptake by mammalian cells. Given the challenges encountered in injecting grout into micro-cracked rock masses, a modified ultrafine cementitious grout material (MUCG) was developed using ultrafine cement, polyvinyl alcohol (PVA) fibers, and a high-efficiency superplasticizer. To identify the optimal ratio of constituents for grouting these rock masses, extreme difference and multiple linear regression analyses were conducted based on test results of flowability and mechanical properties. A mix comprising 9% silica fume, 0.2% bentonite, 0.3% PVA fibers, 0.15% superplasticizer, and 2% setting accelerator was identified as the optimal mix. The microstructure characteristics of the optimal MUCG (MUCGop) grout cemented body were analyzed using XRD, FTIR, BET, and SEM. XRD and FTIR analyses indicated that a substantial amount of C-(A)S-H gel, CH, and AFt were formed within the first 3 days, highlighting the early strength characteristics of MUCGop. Over time, the content of C-A-H stabilized at 22%, the amount of CH decreased from 19% to 14%, whereas the amount of AFt increased to 15.9% by Day 28. Unexpectedly, CaCO3 content increased due to carbonation, reaching 37.3% by Day 28. BET and SEM analyses demonstrated that the specific surface area and porosity (most probable pore size) gradually decreased over time. At various ages, mesopores (cumulative pore diameter, median pore diameter) initially increased and then decreased. Micro-cracks appeared in the cemented body by Day 7, resulting in a slight decrease in strength (3.92%) from Day 3 to Day 7. The formation of well-developed needle-like AFt, C-(A)S-H gel, and small-volume plate-like CH contributed to uniform cementation and a denser structure. From Day 7 to Day 28, there was a slight increase in strength, by an amount of 10.66%. Natural fibres are abundant, renewable, and biodegradable, which has inspired numerous academics worldwide to investigate their possible applications in various industrial fields. The food packaging sector is seeking bio-based and biodegradable substitutes to increase sustainability. In this study, new composites were prepared from natural rubber (NR) and sugarcane bagasse fibres (SCB) with different concentrations of SCB (0, 2.5, 5, 10 &20 phr). The effect of SCB on the properties of natural rubber was studied before and after the alkaline treatment of the fibres. The biocomposites are characterized using Fourier transmission infrared spectroscopy, thermogravimetric analysis, scanning electron microscope, transmission electron microscope, and dielectric measurements in addition to rheological and mechanical analysis. The overall migration test for biocomposites loaded with 20phr SCB was performed to assess the biocomposite's safety as food contact materials. The study's results indicated that, adding SCB improved the conductivity, tensile strength, and elongation at break of natural rubber. Alkaline treatment strengthened the bonding between the filler and matrix and improved biocomposites' thermal dielectric and mechanical properties. The overall migration test indicated that the alkaline treatment increased the overall migration to simulants. BACKGROUND The environmentally friendly production of silver nanoparticles (AgNPs) has gained significant attention as a sustainable alternative to traditional chemical methods. This study focused on synthesizing AgNPs using extract of Dracocephalum kotschyi (D. kotschyi), a medicinal plant. MATERIAL AND METHODS The biosynthesis of AgNPs was monitored using UV-visible spectrophotometry. The role of phytoconstituents from D. kotschyi in stabilizing AgNPs was analyzed using Fourier-transform infrared (FTIR) spectroscopy. Dynamic light scattering (DLS) spectroscopy was used to determine the size, charge, and polydispersity of the nanoparticles, while scanning electron microscopy (SEM) was employed to assess their morphology. We evaluated the antimicrobial efficacy of the synthesized AgNPs against various bacteria, their antioxidant properties via a 2,2-Diphenyl-1-picrylhydrazyl (DPPH) assay, and their cytotoxic activity against the HeLa cervical cancer cell line. RESULTS The formation of AgNPs was indicated by a color change and the emergence of a surface plasmon resonance peak at 418 nm. The nanoparticles demonstrated significant antimicrobial, antioxidant, cytotoxic, and anticancer activities. Morphology, size, and shape analysis revealed nearly spherical particles with an average size of 43 nm. FTIR confirmed the presence of phenolic compounds in the extract, serving as reducing and capping agents. X-ray diffraction (XRD) analysis confirmed the crystalline structure of the nanoparticles. Antimicrobial assessments showed effectiveness against Escherichia coli and Staphylococcus aureus. The DPPH scavenging assay demonstrated efficient antioxidant activity, and potent apoptotic anticancer effects were observed on cervical cancer cells. CONCLUSIONS The extract of D. kotschyi was effective as a reducing agent in the environmentally friendly synthesis of AgNPs, which exhibited noteworthy antimicrobial, antioxidant, and anticancer properties. These findings suggest potential biomedical applications for the synthesized AgNPs.

Infections originating from pathogenic microorganisms can significantly impede the natural wound-healing process. To address this obstacle, innovative bio-active nanomaterials have been developed to enhance antibacterial capabilities. This study focuses on the preparation of nanocomposites from thermally reduced graphene oxide and zinc oxide (TRGO/ZnO). The hydrothermal method was employed to synthesize these nanocomposites, and their physicochemical properties were comprehensively characterized using X-ray diffraction analysis (XRD), High-resolution transmission electron microscopy (HR-TEM), Fourier-transform infrared (FT-IR), Raman spectroscopy, UV-vis, and field-emission scanning electron microscopy (FE-SEM) techniques. Subsequently, the potential of TRGO/ZnO nanocomposites as bio-active materials against wound infection-causing bacteria, including Staphylococcus aureus, Pseudomonas aeruginosa, and Escherichia coli, was evaluated. Furthermore, the investigated samples show disrupted bacterial biofilm formation. A reactive oxygen species (ROS) assay was conducted to investigate the mechanism of nanocomposite inhibition against bacteria and for further in-vivo determination of antimicrobial activity. The MTT assay was performed to ensure the safety and biocompatibility of nanocomposite. Anterior uveitis is one of the most prevalent forms of ocular inflammation caused by infections, trauma, and other idiopathic conditions if not treated properly, it can cause complete blindness. Therefore, this study aimed to formulate and evaluate dexamethasone sodium phosphate (DSP) loaded polyelectrolyte complex (PEC) nanoparticles (NPs) for the treatment of anterior uveitis. DSP-loaded PEC-NPs were formed through complex coacervation by mixing low molecular weight chitosan and the anionic polymer carboxy methyl cellulose (CMC). The formulations were optimized using Box-Behnken design and evaluated the effect of independent variables: Chitosan concentration, CMC concentration, and pH of chitosan solution on the dependent variables: particle size (PS), Polydispersity Index (PDI), pH of the formulation, and % entrapment efficacy (%EE). The PS, PDI, zeta potential, and pH of the optimized formulation were found 451 ± 82.0995 nm, 0.3807 ± 0.1862, +20.33 ± 1.04 mV and 6.8367 ± 0.0737 respectively. The %EE and drug loading of formulation were 61.66 ± 4.2914% and 21.442 ± 1.814% respectively. In vitro drug release studies of optimized formulation showed the prolonged release up to 12 h whereas, the marketed formulation showed the burst release 85.625 ± 4.3062% in 1 h and 98.1462 ± 3.0921% at 6 h, respectively. Fourier transform infrared studies suggested the effective incorporation of the drug into the PEC-NPs formulation whereas differential scanning calorimetry and x-ray diffraction studies showed the amorphized nature of the drug in the formulation. Transmission electron microscopy study showed self-assembled, nearly spherical, core-shell nanostructures. The corneal permeation study showed higher permeation of the drug from PEC-NPs compared to the marketed formulation. Hen's Eggs test-Chorioallantoic Membrane test of the optimized formulation revealed non-irritant and safe for ocular administration. The inherent stochasticity associated with the hierarchical self-assembly of either native-like or partially-unfolded protein monomers leads to the formation of transient, morphologically-diverse prefibrillar species resulting in structurally-distinct polymorphic protein aggregates. High-resolution structural characterization of mature aggregates has revealed heterogeneous supramolecular packing of protofibrils within amyloid polymorphs. However, little is known about whether initial monomeric protein conformers engender polymorphism at the onset of aggregation. Here, we show that intrinsic conformational preference in aggregation-competent monomeric ovalbumin, an archetypal serpin, dictates fibrillar polymorphism by modulating aggregation pathways. Using fluorescence, FT-IR, and vibrational Raman spectroscopy coupled with dynamic light scattering and electron microscopy, we demonstrate that conformationally-diverse amyloidogenic monomers, formed via an interplay of electrostatic and hydrophobic interactions before the commencement of aggregation, play a crucial role in promoting amyloid polymorphism. Moreover, the monomeric conformational fingerprints, accrued at the onset of aggregation, persist and propagate during the formation of polymorphic amyloids. Our results delineate essential conformational characteristics of the monomeric protein preceding aggregation, which will have broad implications in the mechanistic understanding of amyloid strain diversity observed in disease-related proteins.

In this research, biogenic selenium nanoparticles were produced by the fungi Yarrowia lipolytica, and the biological activity of its nanoparticles was studied for the first time. The electron microscopy analyses showed the production of nanoparticles were intracellular and the resulting particles were extracted and characterized by XRD, zeta potential, FESEM, EDX, FTIR spectroscopy and DLS. These analyses showed amorphous spherical nanoparticles with an average size of 110 nm and a Zeta potential of -34.51 ± 2.41 mV. Signatures of lipids and proteins were present in the capping layer of biogenic selenium nanoparticles based on FTIR spectra. The antimicrobial properties of test strains showed that Serratia marcescens, Klebsiella pneumonia, Escherichia coli, Pseudomonas aeruginosa and Bacillus subtilis were inhibited at concentrations between 160 and 640 μg/mL, while the growth of Candida albicans was hindered by 80 μg/mL of biogenic selenium nanoparticles. At concentrations between 0.5 and 1.5 mg/mL of biogenic selenium nanoparticles inhibited up to 50% of biofilm formation of Klebsiella pneumonia, Acinetobacter baumannii, Staphylococcus aureus and Pseudomonas aeruginosa. Additionally, the concentration of 20-640 μg/mL of these bioSeNPs showed antioxidant activity. Evaluating the cytotoxicity of these nanoparticles on the HUVEC and HepG2 cell lines did not show any significant toxicity within MIC concentrations of SeNPs. This study investigates the adsorption of pollutants with different chemical structures; organic Naphtol Green B (NGB) dye and copper on a nanocomposite material with a hexagonal structure of the SBA-15 type. This research is divided into two main parts: the first carries out the synthesis of SBA-15 (Santa Barbra Amourphous) and its derivatives phases functionalized by 3-aminopropyl-triethoxylane (APTES) and calcined at 823 K. The second part presents the influence of the adsorption conditions on the adsorption efficiency of NGB dye and copper. High-resolution X-ray diffractogram (XRD) showed three distinct peaks characteristic of highly ordered mesoporous material. Nitrogen adsorption-desorption isotherm of SBA-15 at 77 K° is type IV typical of mesoporous materials. In addition, Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FT-IR) was also used in the characterization before and after the adsorption of the selected pollutants. At optimal conditions of pH 5.2, initial concentration of 50 mg/L, adsorbent dosage of 20 mg, and at adsorption time of 90 min the maximum removal of pollutants reached 76% and the adsorption capacity was 227.25 mg/g for NGB dye and 221.006 mg/g for copper. Furthermore, the adsorption kinetics followed the pseudo-second-order model, indicating that chemisorption was the dominant mechanism and the Sips isotherm model best described the adsorption data. Synthesis of silver nanoparticles (Ag NPs) using microalgae is gaining recognition for its environmentally friendly and cost-effective nature while maintaining high activity of NPs. In the present study, Ag NPs were synthesized using a methanolic extract of Chlorella vulgaris and subjected to calcination. The X-ray diffraction (XRD) analysis showed a crystalline nature of the products with Ag 2 O and Ag phases with an average crystalline size of 16.07 nm before calcination and an Ag phase with 24.61 nm crystalline size after calcination. Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR) revealed the capping functional groups on Ag NPs, while scanning electron microscopy (SEM) displayed their irregular morphology and agglomeration after calcination. The organic coating was examined by energy-dispersive X-ray spectroscopy (EDX) and thermogravimetric (TGA) analyses, confirming the involvement of the metabolites. The UV-Vis analysis showed a difference in optical properties due to calcination. Synthesized Ag NPs were applied for the photodegradation of hazardous dye Brilliant Blue R in visible light. Different values of light intensity, catalyst dose, initial dye concentration, and pH were tested to identify the optimal set of operating conditions. To improve the durability of the photobioreactor antibiofouling surface for microalgal cultivation, a series of photoreactive poly(2,2,2-trifluoroethyl methacrylate) (PTFEMA) were successfully synthesized and used to modify ethylene-vinyl acetate (EVA) films by a surface coating and UV light grafting method. Fourier transform infrared (FT-IR) spectra, X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy analysis (XPS) and fluorescence microscopy results indicated that PTFEMA were fixed successfully onto the EVA film surface through a covalent bond. During the microalgal adhesion assay, the number of EVA-PTFEMA film-adhered microalgae was 41.4% lower than that of the EVA film. Moreover, the number of microalgae attached to the EVA-PTFEMA film decreased by 61.7% after cleaning, while that of EVA film decreased by only 49.1%. It was found that the contact angle of EVA-PTFEMA film surface increased, and remained stable when immersed in acid and alkali solution for up to 90 days.HIGHLIGHTSDurable photobioreactor antibiofouling surfaces for microalgal cultivation were prepared successfully.The contact angle of antibiofouling coating surface remained stable in acid and base environment for 90 days.The attached microalgae on antibiofouling surface decreased 41.4% than those of unmodified surface.The attached microalgae on antibiofouling surface could be cleaned by 61.7% through changing the flow velocity of microalgal suspension.

The Chinese medicine residue (CMR) is composed of wet substances, so using hydrothermal carbonization (HTC) to recover renewable energy from the residue is a suitable treatment method. Chromium (Cr), a kind of heavy metal element, is enriched in hydrochar and severely restricts its effective utilization. An in-depth analysis of the migration path and mechanism of Cr in hydrochar is helpful in promoting energy utilization for CMR. Here, licorice, a significant Chinese medicine, was selected as the example to analyze the evolutions of its pore and chemical structures and their effects on the migration mechanism of Cr during the HTC process. The products obtained under various HTC conditions were analyzed using nitrogen adsorption, FTIR, and 13 C NMR. The results show that, considering reaction time and relevant reactions as the primary factors during the HTC process, the migration pathway of Cr in hydrochar undergoes two stages, and they are the accompanying migration stage and the recovery aggregation stage. Active adsorption sites for Cr may exist within the pore structure of hydrochar. In the HTC process, hydrolysis, decarboxylation, and decarbonylation reactions are the direct drivers of Cr migration, while aromatization is the underlying cause of Cr recovery and aggregation. Tetrazoles are five-membered ring aromatic heterocyclic molecules that consist of one carbon and four nitrogen atoms. Several tetrazole-based drugs have shown promising activities against bacteria, fungi, asthma, cancer, hypertension etc. The overall aim of this study was to determine anti-Acanthamoebic properties of tetrazoles and tetrazole-conjugated silver nanoparticles. Tetrazole-conjugated silver nanoparticles were synthesized and confirmed using ultraviolet-visible spectrometry, Dynamic light scattering, and Fourier-transform infrared spectroscopy. Using amoebicidal, encystment, and excystment assays, the findings revealed that tetrazoles exhibited antiamoebic properties and these effects were enhanced when conjugated with silver nanoparticles. Importantly, conjugation with silver nanoparticles inhibited parasite-mediated human cell death in vitro, as measured by lactate dehydrogenase release, but it reduced toxic effects of drugs alone on human cells. Integrating agricultural, chemical, and technological knowledge is crucial for developing bio-nanotechnologies to improve agricultural production. This study explores the innovative use of biopolymeric coatings, based on sodium alginate and sodium alginate + Laponite® (nanoclay), containing biostimulants (tryptophol and thymol) or not, on garlic cloves. These coatings were analyzed using X-ray diffraction (XRD), Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR-ATR), and scanning electron microscopy (SEM). Greenhouse bioassays showed improvements in garlic shoot plant biomass with both treatments: sodium alginate biopolymer and sodium alginate biopolymer plus Laponite®. In the field experiment, garlic plants treated with sodium alginate, in combination with conventional pesticide treatments, resulted in better quality garlic bulbs, where larger garlics were harvested in this treatment, reducing commercial losses. In tropical garlic crops, obtaining plants with greater initial vigor is essential. Objectives: This study assessed the effect of NaF/Chit suspensions on enamel and on S. mutans biofilm, simulating application of a mouthrinse., Methods: The NaF/Chit particle suspensions were prepared at molar ratio [NaF]/Chit mon ]≈0.68 at nominal concentrations of 0.2 % and 0.05 % NaF and characterized by Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR), dynamic light scattering and zeta potential. The minimum inhibitory concentration (MIC) and minimum bactericidal concentration (MBC) were measured. The S. mutans biofilm was formed for 7 days on eighty human enamel blocks that were divided into eight groups (n = 10/group): i) 0.05 % NaF solution; ii) 0.31 % Chit solution; iii) NaF/Chit ( R = 0.68) suspension at 0.05 % NaF; iv) 1.0 % HAc solution (Control); v) 0.2 % NaF solution; vi) 1.25 % Chit solution; vii) NaF/Chit ( R = 0.68) suspension at 0.2 % NaF; viii) 0.12 % chlorhexidine digluconate. The substances were applied daily for 90 s. S. mutans cell counts (CFU/mL) were performed, and the Knoop microhardness (KHN) of enamel samples were measured before and after biofilm formation. The KHN and CFU/mL data were analyzed by repeated measure ANOVA and Tukey's test (α = 0.05)., Results: Interactions between NaF and Chit were evidenced in solid state by FTIR spectra. The NaF/Chit complexes showed spontaneous microparticle formation and colloidal stability. The MIC and MBC ranged from 0.65 to 1.31 mg/mL. Present research work reports the synthesis of Gellan gum (Gg) and methacrylic acid (MA) based grafted hydrogels (Gg-cl-poly(MA)) crosslinked using N, N'- methylene-bis-acrylamide (MBA) and the evaluation of their efficiency to be used as a sustained drug delivery carrier for anticancer drug i.e., etoposide. Various characterization techniques like Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR), X-ray diffraction (XRD), and scanning electron microscopy (SEM) confirmed the grafting of Gg with MA and the formation of crosslinked Gg-cl-poly(MA) hydrogel polymer. The synthesized hydrogel showed pH-dependent swelling properties and exhibited a maximum swelling capacity of 867 % under optimized environmental conditions. The Gg-cl-poly(MA) was biocompatible and non-cytotoxic, which was confirmed by the hemolytic and cytotoxic tests. The release dynamics of etoposide from the Gg-cl-poly(MA) polymer matrix was checked under specific physiological conditions. Drug release was found to be significantly higher in the acidic medium, followed by the neutral and alkaline medium. This clearly indicated that etoposide drug release through synthesized hydrogel was stomach-specific and it is effective for the treatment of stomach cancer. The release mechanism of the etoposide drug was a Fickian-type diffusion mechanism in the acidic medium and a non-Fickian-type diffusion mechanism in the neutral and alkaline medium. The release profile of the etoposide was best fitted to the first-order rate model. The preparation of ethylenediaminetetraacetic acid (EDTA) functionalized pine needles biochar (EDTA@BC) as a low-cost active adsorbent and its effectiveness in removing Ni(II) from aqueous solution at various conditions is reported in this paper. First, alkali activation was selected to render the pine needle biochar with an excellent porous structure and increased concentration of hydroxyl groups to facilitate grafting. Subsequently, a simple method was utilized to graft EDTA onto the biochar. The prepared EDTA@BC was characterized by Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR), scanning electron microscopy (SEM), and energy dispersive x-ray spectrometry (EDX). Batch adsorption studies were conducted to assess the impact of various parameters such as solution pH, adsorbent dosage, adsorbate volume, and shaking time on the removal efficiency of Ni(II). At pH 6, 100 mg dosage, 4 mL of adsorbate volume, and 10 min of shaking time, the maximum removal efficiency of Ni(II) was observed to be 89%. EDTA@BC showed reasonable sorption performance still after the third cycle of regeneration. The effect of interfering ions such as Pb, Cr, Cu, and Hg was evaluated, resulting a decrease of 69%, 78%, 76%, and 68%, respectively, in its sorption capacity. The Langmuir model provided a better fit for Ni(II) in the concentration range of 0.1-2000 ppm under optimized conditions, with q max of 46.69 ± 1.031 mg/g and K L of 0.001, compared with the Freundlich isotherm, which yielded n = 0.234 and χ 2  = 2.7899, Temkin isotherm (R 2  = 0.9520), and Redlich-Peterson isotherm (R 2  = 0.9725). The removal of Ni(II) by EDTA@BC was found to be the pseudo-second-order kinetics. Thermodynamic studies indicated adsorption process to be endothermic and nonspontaneous. Hence, a sustainable valorized bio-material (EDTA@BC) is prepared having better sorption efficiency of Ni(II) from aqueous solution with possible wide applicability. Conducting biopolymer blend nanocomposites of cashew gum (CG) and polypyrrole (PPy), with varying concentrations of copper oxide (CuO) nanoparticles were synthesized through an in-situ polymerization method using water as a sustainable solvent. The formation of blend nanocomposites was characterized using UV-visible (UV-vis) spectroscopy, Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FT-IR), X-ray diffraction (XRD) and field emission scanning electron microscopy (FE-SEM). UV spectroscopy revealed a significant reduction in absorption intensity with the addition of CuO, indicating enhanced optical properties. FT-IR and XRD analysis confirmed the successful incorporation of CuO into the CG/PPy blend. FE-SEM images revealed the uniform distribution of nanoparticles throughout the biopolymer blend, particularly in the 7 wt% sample. TGA and DSC results demonstrated a significant enhancement in thermal stability, increasing from 352 °C to 412 °C and a rise in the glass transition temperature from 89 °C to 106 °C in the blend nanocomposites. The dielectric constant, dielectric loss, impedance, Nyquist plot, electrical conductivity, and electric modulus were extensively examined at different temperatures and frequencies. The dielectric constant of the CG/PPy blend increased from 2720 to 92,950 with the addition of 7 wt% CuO, measured at 100 Hz. The present study aims to develop Asphaltum punjabianum (namely Shilajit) coated Polyvinyl alcohol (PVA)/Carboxymethyl cellulose (CMC) hydrogels and examine their structural, morphological, degradation, and biological properties. Hydrogels were produced at two different concentrations: 70:30 PVA/CMC and 90:10 PVA/CMC. Following that, Shilajit was applied to the synthesized hydrogels using electrophoretic deposition for a duration of 3 min at 30 V. The scanning electron microscopy images showed that the hydrogel's surface had a regular distribution of irregular Shilajit particles. Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR) analysis demonstrated the presence of hydrogen bonding between PVA and CMC hydrogels and Shilajit, indicating the successful deposition of Shilajit on the hydrogel. The hydrogels coated with Shilajit exhibited strong antimicrobial activity, resulting in an inhibition zone measuring 34 mm against Escherichia coli (E. coli) and 41 mm against Staphylococcus aureus (S. aureus). The hydrogels exhibited a cell viability of 80 % with mesenchymal stem cells (MSCs), and the release of collagen II also increased. Furthermore, the PVA/CMC/Shilajit hydrogel exhibited a lower degradation rate compared to the PVA/CMC hydrogel. This research describes the synthesis of a silane derivative containing phosphorus and nitrogen atoms, leveraging their synergistic flame retardant effect through the incorporation of a PH bond to the isocyanate moiety. The synthesized silane featured alkoxysilyl groups, facilitating permanent bonds with the cotton fabric surface via hydrolysis. Cotton fabrics were modified using silane solutions of varying concentrations (2.5 %, 5 %, and 10 %) through a dip-coating process to determine the effect of the modifier amount on fabric properties. The modified fabrics were subjected to FT-IR, TGA, SEM, and EDS analyses, as well as microcalorimetric and LOI tests, to assess changes in flammability. FT-IR, SEM/EDS, and add-on analyses confirmed effective coverage of the cotton fabric with the flame retardant. Thermogravimetric tests indicated a significant reduction in the mass loss rate during thermal degradation. LOI analyses demonstrated a decrease in flammability (increase in LOI value), while microcalorimetric tests showed a substantial decrease in the heat release rate, correlating with increased modifier concentration on the fabric surface. The effect of ball milling on the physicochemical properties and gut microbiota regulation of Poria cocos pachyman (PAC) was investigated. Ball milling reduced the particle size of PAC from 102 μm to 25.19 μm after 12 h, resulting in increasing particle uniformity. Scanning electron microscopy (SEM) revealed surface roughening and fragmentation of PAC after ball milling. X-ray diffraction (XRD) and Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR) indicated reduced crystallinity and increased hydroxyl group exposure in ball-milled PAC (BMP). Thermogravimetric analysis (TGA) showed decreased thermal stability in BMP. The optimal ball milled time was 7 h. Moisture contents in PAC and BMP-7 h were 10.30 ± 0.47 % and 10.72 ± 0.12 %, and carbohydrate contents were 81.02 ± 2.27 % and 74.54 ± 1.46 %. In vivo studies on mice demonstrated that both PAC and BMP-7 h increased diversity and reshaped the composition of gut microbiota, with BMP-7 h showing a more pronounced effect. BMP-7 h reduced the Firmicutes/Bacteroidetes ratio, and raised the abundance of Bacteroides, suggesting enhanced prebiotic potential. In the modern environment conscious era, there has been a huge demand for the effective green method to fabricate biomaterials for sustained transdermal release of diltiazem hydrochloride to treat hypertension and cardiac failure. In this vein, the present study explores the amination of waste jute sourced nanocellulose (ANC) and its effect as a reinforcing filler to design electrospun polyvinyl alcohol (PVA)/chitosan based polymeric nanofibrous scaffold for drug delivery. The characterization results of FTIR (Fourier Transform Infrared Spectroscopy) confirm the successful chemical modification of nanocellulose (NCC). SEM (Scanning Electron Microscopy) results indicate the morphological modifications in ANC due to grafting. ANC enhances the mechanical properties of scaffold and sustains the release of the loaded drug to 67.89±3.39% as compared to the pure PVA/chitosan scaffold of 92.63±4.63% over a period of 72 h as shown by the results of in-vitro drug release study. Moreover, the incorporation of 0.5 % ANC improves the anti-bacterial activity against both gram-positive (97.4±4.87%, reduction in viable cells count) and gram-negative bacteria (98.5±4.93%, reduction in viable cells count).
