Abstract

The purpose of this study was to describe the teacher's perspective on history learning based on higher order thinking skills in secondary schools. This research is a qualitative research using case study method. The subjects in this study were 16 history teachers spread across several districts and cities in Papua Province. Data was collected through observation, questionnaires, and interviews. The research data were analyzed using the Miles and Huberman Interactive Model which consisted of four stages, namely data collection, data reduction, data presentation, and conclusion drawing. The results showed that history teachers in Papua Province had a good perspective on the application of history learning based on higher order thinking skills in secondary schools. This perspective includes knowledge related to higher order thinking skills, readiness in preparing history learning tools based on higher order thinking skills, readiness in applying history learning based on higher order thinking skills, and readiness in evaluating the results of history learning based on higher order thinking skills in secondary schools.
