The Effectiveness of the Kampo Preparation Toki-shigyaku- ka-goshuyu-shokyo-To for Treatment of Sensation of Cold due to Spinal Cord Infarction.

Introduction: It has been claimed that the Kampo preparation Toki-shigyaku-ka-goshuyu-shokyo-To (Danggui-Sini-Jia- Wuzhuyu-Shengjian-Tang, TSGS ) can alleviate cold in the hands and feet and accompanying abdominal pain and headache by stimulating peripheral circulation. Clinical report: The patient was a 73-year-old woman who had spinal cord infarction with a feeling of cold on the right side of the body. Although we did not observe any improvement in the patient's temperature sensation nor in the sense of touch that shares a conducting path, the feeling of cold did improve by our use of TSGS. Conclusion: Our findings suggest that TSGS has other effects besides stimulating peripheral circulation. More research is needed in this area. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
