In this article the author discusses cloud computing on mainframes and problem of provisioning. It states that mainframes require controlled environment which is why cloud computing runs on x86-based distributed architectures. Inspite the limitation many companies promote mainframes for cloud computing like International Business Machines Corp. (IBM) which introduced zEnterprise to combine the two. Reed Mullen of IBM highlights that lack of self-provisioning is habitual with mainframes.
