Two novel complexes, {[L1Ni(ipa)(H2O)]2(DMF)}n (1) and {[L1Zn(pa)]4(H2O)}n (2), (L1 = bis(4-(1H-benzo[d]imidazol-1-yl)phenyl)methanone, H2ipa = isophthalic acid, H2pa = phthalic acid) were obtained and structurally characterized. Treatment of M(OAc)2 (M = Ni, Zn) with a dicarboxylic acid and L1 under solvothermal conditions gave the title complexes in moderate yields. The complexes were characterized by elemental analysis, IR spectroscopy and X-ray diffraction. Complex 1 represents 1D chains along the b axis, and complex 2 shows 2D network with the point symbol {44⋅62}. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Abstract: A nickel coordination polymer with V-shaped ligands, {[(L1)2Ni(H2O)2] · 2(C8H5O4)}n, (L1 = 4-(1H-imidazol-1-yl)phenyl)methanone) has been synthesized under the solvothermal conditions. The structure has been determined by the single-crystal X-ray diffraction analysis and characterized by the infrared spectroscopy and elemental analysis. The crystal is crystallized in the monoclinic sp. gr. P21/c with the unit cell parameters a = 15.6387(3) Å, b = 8.0526(2) Å, c = 24.4791(6) Å, and β = 129.2350(10)°, Z = 2. The adjacent [Ni(H2O)2] units are linked by two bridging L1 ligands to form 1D looped chains, which are extended by the hydrogen bonds to yield a 3D framework. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

A copper complex with V-shaped ligands, [( L )CuCl] ( 1), ( L1 = 4-(1 H-imidazol-1-yl)phenyl) methanone) has been synthesized and characterized by IR spectroscopy, elemental analyses and singlecrystal X-ray diffraction. The crystal of 1 is monoclinic, sp. gr. C2/ with the unit cell parameters a = 17.9496(13), b = 15.3440(13), c = 7.2983(7) Å, and β = 112.875(6)°, Z = 4, R = 0.0681, and wR = 0.1736 ( I > 2 σ). The solid state structure of 1 consists of 2D metal aromatic chloride layers, which are propagating along the bc plane to form a 3D network through hydrogen bonds. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

A cobalt coordination polymer, {[Co(L1)2(H2O)2] · (HCOO)2 · H2O}n, where L1 is a bis(4-(1H-imidazol-1-yl)phenyl)methanone, has been synthesized and characterized by infrared spectroscopy, elemental analysis, and single-crystal X-ray diffraction. The crystal crystallizes in the triclinic sp. gr. with the unit cell parameters a = 7.9504(6), b = 10.0231(7), c = 13.3129(8) Å, and α = 88.399(5)°, β = 75.310(6)°, γ = 79.179(6)°, Z = 1. The Co2+ ion has a distorted octahedral environment with two O atoms from two water molecules and four N atoms from four L1 ligands. A thermal stability of polymer has been discussed. The title compound, CHCuFNOS ( 1), was synthesized by the reaction of Cu( tta) and L, ( L = ( E)-2-(4-(1 H-1,2,4-triazol-1-yl)benzylidene)-3,4-dihydronaphthalen-1(2 H)-one) in the dichloromethane solution. It crystallizes in the monoclinic, space group P2/ c with a = 33.8388(5), b = 9.3874(2), c = 21.8194(4) Å, β = 95.522(2), V = 6898.9(2) Å, Z = 8, D = 1.554 Mg/m, F(000) = 3272, µ = 0.834 mm, R = 0.0639, wR = 0.1637. The copper(II) ion of 1 is in a distorted square-pyramidal environment with four O atoms of the two tta ligands and one N atom of triazole ligand L. Single-crystal X-ray diffraction data revealed that the hydrogen bonds, weak C-H···π and π···π interactions in the crystals link the coordination units to form 3D supramolecular structures.
