In Part One - The History, the authors highlighted Doyle's and Houdini's beliefs and attitudes about spiritualism as well as noting their well documented friendship (Stek and Schwartz, 2011). We discussed some claimed communications from the deceased Doyle and the complete failure of the Halloween night Houdini seances, now ongoing for over eighty years. We outlined a brief history of scientific approaches to the survival hypothesis, and noted some of the controls used to rule out an alternate hypothesis of a 'cheating' medium. We ended by asking the question, "Could a well-designed experiment with a proponent of spiritualism and either of two great skeptics of the afterlife provide some incremental evidence for the survival hypothesis?" In Part Two - New Evidence, we offer here: a) New carefully documented anecdotal evidence which led us to propose b) A sophisticated experimental design to provide confirmatory evidence. Upon the eventual completion of the experiment we hope to present the results in Part Three. Even if neither time nor funding becomes available to complete the experiment, it nonetheless stands as an accurate description of how a scientific approach can begin to unravel details about the survival hypothesis. There is a scarcity of literature related to the spiritual experiences of mental health professionals. The book, Varieties of Anomalous Experience Examining the Scientific Evidence (2000), is one of the first formal acknowledgments of non-ordinary experiences published by the American Psychological Association (APA). This book discusses anomalous experiences one of which is a mystical, spiritual and/or psychic experience, which the psychologist theorists William James, Carl Jung, Abraham Maslow, Stanislaw Grof and Raymond Moody all believe is a central part of mental health. These experiences are not an indicator of psychopathology. This article will combine and connect theories of human spiritual development with metaphysical-related philosophies in an attempt to prove the following hypothesis: Humans who reach a high level of development have the potential to naturally experience a connective "oneness" with the Universal Intelligence (God Force) through a creative resonance with morphic fields that guide evolution. 150 years ago, in 1858, the joint papers of Darwin and Wallace were presented by the Linnean Society in London. Debate and dissension continue to this day. I present in layman's terms a brief overview of Charles Darwin's theory. I then identify some areas lacking in adequate explanation. Next I introduce the issues of energy and consciousness following this up by integrating these using Spiritualism to illustrate this. In 2005, we visited the Padre Pio Healing Center in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. We interviewed two of the mediums and volunteered for healing sessions ourselves, along with a psychologist from Chile. The three of us were treated separately, and each of us reported sighting the "spirits of the light" who are the alleged healing entities of the Center. One of us visited Joao de Deus (John of God) as well; his healing center, The House of Dom Ignatius of Loyola, was filled with over one thousand people on that particular day, the anniversary of Joao de Deus' first reported "incorporation" of Saint Ignatius. One of us also had visited the Frei Luiz Shrine near Rio on a previous visit; in 2005, a healer from the shrine performed a non-contact healing intervention that left stains on his white shirt, stains that were later analyzed in a medical laboratory. Biblical Criticism (BC) is the approach to the study of Scripture, which consciously and honestly searches and applies the canons of reason to its investigation of the text. BC comprises a large number of distinguishable but interrelated methodologies and disciplines. Although there are differences between BC and psychical research in terms of goals and methods, there are similarities that provide sufficient reason to investigate how these two approaches to understanding reality can relate and open up some new possibilities for both of these disciplines.
