With the wide use of screen media, screen exposure shows a trend of younger age, and the screen exposure of children and adolescents has become a global public health issue of concern. Childhood and adolescence are important stages of growth and development, as well as critical periods of cognitive ability, emotional development and socialization. Previous studies have shown that screen time is closely related to the mental health of children and adolescents, but few studies have focused on the correlation between screen content and their mental health. The screen content for children and adolescents mainly comes from traditional TV and emerging interactive electronic media. Children and adolescents are highly sensitive to screen content. This paper summarizes the current situation of screen content for children and adolescents and reviews the correlation between screen content and their mental health issues. It also reveals the potential mechanism of the correlation between the two to provide a theoretical basis for the selection and supervision of screen content for children and adolescents.

Objective: To evaluate the effects of sedentary behavior/screen time on mental health of college students by Meta-analysis based on the results of literature retrieval and provide theoretical basis for the improvement of college students' mental health. Methods: The original research literatures about sedentary behavior (including screen time) and college students' mental health published as of 14 July 2022 were retrieved from PubMed, Embase, Cochrane Library, CNKI, VIP and Wanfang data. Data were extracted from the included studies and scored by one author in accordance with the proposed programme, and quality score was reviewed by another author. The literature that met the inclusion criteria was systematically reviewed and Meta-analysis was carried out by software Stata 14.2 based on the data from the literatures. Results: A total of 36 studies met the inclusion criteria, including 35 observational studies and 1 interventional study. There are 4 papers about the effects of sedentary behavior and 9 papers about the effects of screening time on depression in college students and 4 papers about the effects of sedentary behavior/screening time on anxiety in college students were used for a Meta-analysis, and the other studies were also analyzed. The Meta-analysis on the effects of sedentary behavior on depression in college students showed that there was a significant positive correlation between higher level sedentary behavior and increased risk for depression ( OR =1.07,95% CI :1.05-1.10). Subgroup analysis indicated that there was no significant correlation between higher level sedentary behavior and depression ( OR =1.74, 95% CI :0.93-3.25) in the unadjusted confounding factor model, but there was significance positive correlation after adjusting confounding factors ( OR =2.15, 95% CI :1.18-3.90). Meta-analysis on the effects of screen time on depression in college students showed that longer screen time were significantly positively correlated with higher depression level ( OR =1.03, 95% CI : 1.02-1.05). The results of subgroup analysis showed that in both unadjusted confounding factor model and adjusted confounding factor model, longer screen time was significantly positively correlated with depression ( OR =1.27, 95% CI : 1.13-1.42; OR =1.45, 95% CI : 1.18-1.79) , respectively. Meta-analysis on the effects of sedentary behavior on anxiety showed that longer screen time was significantly positively correlated with increased anxiety risk ( OR =1.44, 95% CI : 1.31-1.58). The results of subgroup analysis showed that in both unadjusted confounding factor model and adjusted confounding factor model, there was a significant positive correlation between longer screen time and anxiety ( OR =1.47, 95% CI : 1.31-1.65; OR =1.38, 95% CI :1.17-1.62). The analysis for the literatures which were not eligible for Meta-analysis found that sedentary behavior/screen time was significantly associated with stress and other mental health in college students. Conclusions: Sedentary behavior or screen time is significantly negatively correlated with college students' mental health, in particular, resulting in depression and anxiety. These effects might be be different between weekdays and weekend days.

New, science-based cancer treatments have proliferated in recent years. Immunotherapy provides new hope for prolonging survival in patients with advanced-stage cancers. However, patients with cancer must not only face their disease progression, physical, and psychological symptoms, but also deal with the side effects and efficacy of immunotherapy. Patients with cancer may experience complex emotions such as fear, anxiety, depression, or uncertainty relatively frequently and may have many unmet care needs specific to immunotherapy. However, articles on the physical and psychological impacts and supportive care needs experienced by patients with advanced-stage cancers undergoing immunotherapy and their family caregivers are limited in the literature. Thus, this paper was developed to present (1) a brief introduction to cancer immunotherapy; (2) the physical and psychological impacts experienced by patients with cancer undergoing immunotherapy and their caregivers; (3) the status of the supportive care needs of patients and family caregivers during the immunotherapy process; and (4) an assessment of and intervention to address the supportive care needs of these patients with cancer and their caregivers. We hope this article will help clinical healthcare providers understand the physical and psychological impacts and supportive care needs of advanced patients with cancer and their family caregivers during the immunotherapy process. Furthermore, we suggest that appropriate medical care be provided or developed in the future to improve their quality of life during the immunotherapy process and to enhance clinical practices. Child abuse is a sensitive research topic. Improving the health of the victims of abuse through research, rights protection, and preemption of harm are important and debatable ethical issues. The ethical considerations related to research into child abuse cover two dimensions: 1) using children as subjects and 2) concerns regarding the physical and mental health of children who are targeted by related research. This paper focuses on several common ethical issues in the field of child abuse research, starting from the formulation of the research problem, sampling, data collection, and results reporting. Ethical issues include obtaining informed consent, assuring the autonomy of maltreated children and adults with childhood abuse histories, ensuring a sense of control and safety during data collection, and establishing the role of researchers as mandated reporters. As a researcher, rigorous research design and methodology and self-preparation on the issue of childhood trauma and abuse are essential in order to reduce the risk of harm to victims. Changes in climate and global warming trends impact the ecological balance as well as human health. The recent development of geospatial information technologies such as Geographic Information Systems (GIS) and remote sensing provides useful tools to assess the impacts of climate changes on human health over large areas. This article aimed to conduct a literature review related to the application of geospatial information technologies in order to assess climate-change-related health risks in Taiwan, with primary outcomes of interest including physiological and mental health and infectious diseases. Three environmental factors, including temperature, precipitation, and air pollution, and their impacts on human health were considered. Comments were raised for future studies in Taiwan on this subject area. Among the hundred papers reviewed, 28 were related to the target topic, and air pollution and fine particle studies were the focus of most of these 28 papers. Studies related to extreme temperature indicted growing concern with this issue. However, limited research was found related to precipitation and environmental greenness. Therefore, future studies should pay greater attention to these two environmental issues. The COVID-19 epidemic continues to spread, and frontline health professionals have unfortunately contracted this virus because of exposure while providing clinical care. Based on the painful experience of the previous SARS epidemic in Taiwan, nurses have adopted a standard of care for infection protection that incorporates early prevention and detection. However, international public health experts remain unable to control the infectivity and variability of the COVID19 virus, which increases the mental stress on frontline nurses when performing care. In this paper, which uses a medical center in the north of Taiwan as an example, JBI clinical guidelines, infection control experience, and nurses' awareness, perceived support, and self-efficacy are applied to suggest ways to improve epidemic prevention and mental construction, enhance nurses' psychological empowerment and refection, promote role identity in nursing and self-value, establish health team awareness, strengthen infection protection concepts, and integrate infection control concepts into the nursing models to develop effective standard operating procedures for epidemic prevention management and effectively prevent the spread of the virus and maintain public health.

Friendship alienation is a common dilemma experienced by many Chinese people in life. It especially has negative impacts on the mental health of the alienated party, which cannot be ignored. The role of “yuanfen” ( 緣分 ) in adapting to relationship dilemmas has already been put forward and yuanfen has recently been subdivided into beliefs in “yuan” (緣) and “fen” (分). However, yuan and fen beliefs were for the most part hypothesized in the past to have respective effects on psychological adaptation. This paper first proposes the hypothesis that yuan and fen belief can work together (interact) to buffer the negative effects of friendship alienation on mental health. Therefore, the purpose of this study is to explore the roles of the yuan and fen beliefs following friendship alienation, including the effect of “friendship alienation” on “mental health” and the moderating role of yuan and fen beliefs. In this study, adults aged 18 and above were adopted as subjects. Data was collected through online questionnaires. Participants were requested to fill out assessment scales measuring friendship alienation experiences, their yuan and fen beliefs, sense of loneliness, satisfaction with life, subjective happiness, etc. The results show that compared with those without experiences of friendship alienation, people who had experienced estrangement from their friends within two years indeed showed poorer mental health. The research results with greater significance show that 1) If the yuan and fen beliefs operate simultaneously, they play a buffering role on the negative impacts of alienation experience on mental health. If they both operate independently however, they do not have a buffering effect on the negative impacts of the alienation experience on mental health; and 2) It is worth noting that in situations where belief in yuan is low, and the belief in fen is higher, the more likely an experience of alienation would jeopardize subjective happiness and satisfaction with life. Overall, the joint operation of the beliefs in yuan and fen may play a buffering role in the negative effects of friendship alienation. Nevertheless, it is also worth noting that under specific circumstances, yuan and fen do not always have positive effects on negative relationships as mentioned in the preceding literature. The library of Nanjing University of Aeronautics and Astronautics has incorporated the theory and practice of reading therapy into the curriculums and set up the "reading and mental health" course to popularize reading therapy and improve the effectiveness of reading therapy. The course introduces the theories and methods of reading therapy through classroom teaching, guides students’ reading behavior and solves students’ psychological confusion through interactive reading and discussion. Taking this course as a case, this paper studies the construction objectives, contents, teaching modes and course evaluation methods of the reading therapy course for science and engineering college students, and preliminarily constructs a teaching mode based on the theory and methods of reading therapy, supported by the reading bibliography of six special topics, based on reading interaction, discussion and scientific evaluation. In recent years, great effort has been made in the promotion of healthy aging in China. The core indicator of a country's healthy aging is the level of body health, mental health, social adaptation and quality of life (QOL) of the elderly. This paper summarizes the concept and the progress in the research of healthy ageing and the leading role of geriatric epidemiology. Articles on column "Pay attention to function and health of elderly" analyze the basic conditions affecting the QOL of the elderly, such as disability, comorbidity and Alzheimer disease prevalence, in the elderly in China and related risk factors to describe the severity of different health problems affecting the QOL of the elderly in different areas of China and provide essential data for developing effective health approaches and conducting targeted intervention foe healthy aging.

Tooth extraction is a common operation in oral surgery. Traditional extraction instruments, such as bone chisel, elevator, and bone hammer, lead to not only severe trauma but also unnecessary complications, and patients easily become nervous and apprehensive if tooth extraction is performed using these violent instruments. In recent years, with the development of minimally invasive concept and technology, various micro-power instruments have been used for tooth extraction. This innovative technology can reduce the iatrogenic trauma and complications of tooth extraction. Additionally, this technology can greatly decrease the patient's physical and mental pressure. The new equipment compensates for the deficiency of traditional tooth extraction equipment and facilitates the gradual replacement of the latter. Diverse micro-power systems have distinct strengths and weaknesses, so some auxiliary instruments are still needed during tooth extraction. This paper focuses on the various micro-power systems for tooth extraction and tries to compare the advantages and disadvantages of these systems. Objective This paper makes a cross-sectional survey about mental depression in patients with disabilities of Wuhua district, Kunming, investigating the depression of patients and the relevant positive rate and discovering the factors, which provides some basis for the psychological therapy for mental depression of the patients. Methods A symptoms of depression self rating scale (SDS) and a self-designed questionnaire for the basic information were adopted in the thorough survey for the patients of physical disabilities who lived in Wuhua district and had the certificates of disabled. Results Of the 1660 patients with physical disabilities, 889 were found with depression and the depression positive rate was 53.55%. The psychomotor ability was the most frequent symptom. The mental depression disorders was the second and the somatoform disorders the third. The least frequent one was mental emotional symptom. Univariate analysis showed that for the depression positive rate, there were some ethnic groups differences and no age, sex and household types difference in the patients. For the depression symptom factors, there were ethnic groups and household types differences, no age and sex differences. Conclusion The positive rate of the patients in the survey was higher than the general population and the other domestic and overseas counterparts. The psychomotor ability was the most frequent symptom. The mental depression disorders was the second and the somatoform disorders the third. The least frequent one was mental emotional symptom. According to the uivariate analysis, the positive rate of the patients might be related to the ethnic groups, and might have no relationship with age, sex and household types. However, the depression symptom factors maybe connected with ethnic groups and household types and irrelevant with age and sex. In conclusion, the present mental health status of the patients with mental depression of Wuhua district, Kunming was not looking good and the paper provides some clues for the psychological rehabilitation therapy for the patients with depression. Background The number of migrant elderly in China and abroad is rising, and their mental health problems can no longer be ignored due to mobility-related adversities. Objective To analyze the current situation, research hotspots and trends in the field of mental health of migrant elderly at home and abroad in the past 10 years based on CiteSpace, and provide reference for research in related fields. Methods CNKI, Wanfang Data, VIP, CBM, Scopus, PubMed and Web of Science Core Collection were used as data sources, and CiteSpace was used for visualization and analysis, including publication volume, authors, institutions and keywords. Results A total of 1 023 papers were obtained, 726 in English and 297 in Chinese. Domestic authors mainly collaborated with the same institution, while there were more inter-institutional collaborations abroad. The current research hotspots mainly focused on the elderly with migration, elderly immigrants, old migrants, depression, psychological distress and social support. Conclusion Compared with abroad, there are fewer publications in China currently, with looser cooperation among research authors and institutions, and a lack of core authors, needing more diversification of disciplines and research methods. Focusing on hotspots and cutting-edge content, exploring the mechanism of the role of mental health of migrant elderly, implementing psychological interventions, strengthening health education, and improving the psychological resilience and subjective well-being of migrant elderly are the main trends of future research.

To provide researchers with a comprehensive understanding of the Psychology and Behavior Investigation of Chinese Residents (PBICR), this paper introduces its background and features from four aspects. In terms of design concepts, PBICR focuses on many aspects of mental health and health behaviours in the Chinese population, takes full account of timeliness and efficiency, adheres to the original intention of data openness and data sharing, builds a high-quality database with a large-sample, multi-centre, repetitive, nationwide cross-sectional design, and promotes data mining and exchange and cooperation; in terms of survey implementation, PBICR adopts a combination of population size-proportional, multistage sampling and quota sampling, and obtains data through face-to-face field surveys with strict quality control to ensure the representativeness and reliability of the samples; in terms of output, PBICR's research content is rich and updated in line with international hotspots, which can satisfy the demand for research on diversified variables and data, and the results of its past research have a higher influence in many fields such as public health, management, communication, and psychology; Looking ahead, PBICR will gradually complete the construction of databases from the general database to sub-databases, pay attention to special populations and a wide range of regions around the world, add tracking surveys and biomedical data research perspectives, and have great research potential to drive research on the mental and behavioural health of Chinese residents through the overall layout of the multi-dimensional.

BackgroundDue to the COVID-19 pandemic， both teenagers' studies and personal life are critically affected， which has resulted in a variety of mental health problems. In this regard， scholars at home and abroad have carried out a large number of research concerning adolescent mental health， of which there still exists a lack of systematic combing and review.ObjectiveTo understand the status and development trend of research on adolescent mental health during the COVID-19 pandemic at home and abroad， and to grasp the current research hotspots and trends in this field， so as to provide references for relevant research and practice in the post-epidemic era.MethodsOn October 30， 2022， we searched through China Knowledge Network Infrastructure （CNKI） and Web of Science database， and the publishing time of articles to be retrieved was limited between December 1， 2019 and October 30， 2022. Excel and CiteSpace were used to perform visual analysis on these articles in terms of number， author， institution， country and keywords of the articles.ResultsA total of 7 608 articles were included. At home and abroad， the number of papers related to adolescent mental health generally increased at first and then decreased under the pandemic situation. Compared with foreign countries， the connection and cooperation among domestic scholars and institutions was not close enough. The top three countries in the number of English literature published were the United States， Britain and China， and those in intermediary center were Tunis， Cameroon and Anguilla. The parent-child relationship and mental health of teenagers during were much concerned by scholars both at home and abroad. With the passage of time， researchers at home and abroad had shifted their focus from only negative factors to positive factors.ConclusionChinese scholars or institutions need to strengthen more domestic and international exchanges and cooperation. Societal ageing and the rising prevalence of chronic disease are important causes that underlie the growth in the number of disabled individuals. The disease-induced psychological distress experienced by this population not only decreases quality of life but also increases demand for healthcare. The healthcare policy for the disabled population currently focuses on community healthcare. Therefore, developing appropriate programs to promote mental health among the disabled population in community settings is a critical issue. The present paper reviews current mental health promotion initiatives that target the disabled population in the community and addresses mental healthcare issues that are prevalent among the chronically disabled; strategies of mental health promotion that use music therapy, reminiscence therapy, and horticultural therapy; and the roles and responsibilities of community professionals in mental healthcare. We offer these perspectives as a reference to promote mental health and to establish holistic community healthcare for chronically disabled individuals.

The mental health of adolescents and young adults is an issue of concern worldwide due to the increase in violent incidents that have been perpetrated by members of this age group. Young people at high-risk of mental disability are easily ignored. Therefore, social tensions in society have increased due to safety issues arising from the problems that are associated with mental disabilities in this population. This paper discusses the importance of early identification and early prevention of mental disabilities in high-risk young people, defines high-risk mental illness, and identifies the various subcategories of mental diseases. Based on our review of the literature, the present paper suggests targeting young people in high-risk categories with health promotion that addresses the following six health-promotion lifestyle habits: engaging in regular exercise, eating a balanced diet, managing stress, engaging in social relationships, taking responsibility for personal health, and fulfilling self-actualization. This discursive analysis discusses these strategies as safe and sustained interventions for adolescents and young adults that may improve self-awareness and thus maintain health and enhance opportunities to promote an ideal health status.

Active ageing is one of the most important issues taken up by the WHO in regard to ageing societies. "Prolonging Healthy Life Expectance" and "Decreasing the Depression Rate Among Older People" are critical indicators for "2020 Healthy People in Taiwan". This paper conducts a trial run of the program planning and evaluation of mental-social health promotion using focus group research that surveys 29 administrative districts and a depression survey that randomly samples older individuals in Taichung City. We also introduce how we apply local characteristics to develop the 3-level and innovative-action plans to meet the needs of self-identity and social participation for older people. For example, the "Learning Mobile Classroom" program promotes health promotion using activities that are tailored to the lifestyle and culture characteristics of target individuals. Another example is the "Seniors Show", which uses community groups and annual active-ageing shows to promote a positive concept of aging and to promote social participation for older people. Finally, the "Navigator APP of Active Ageing", created using a geographic information system, addresses the resource information needs of older people. This experience in Taichung City uniquely empowers older people, allowing them to take the initiative to make a difference not only for mental-social wellness but also for the hope of life and for graceful ageing.

As a marginalized group, transgender people generally suffer from social prejudice, discrimina tion and stigma. Evidence abounds that transgender people have varying degrees of psychological and behavioral problems. This paper introduces 4 common psychological problems in transgender, including depression, anxiety, suicide, and drug abuse. A minority stress model theory is introduced to explain the causes of their psychological and behavioral problems. This paper uses the perspective of "mental health mainstreaming" to define mental health and explore its relationship with mental illness and psychiatric disease. Further, we apply this perspective to Taiwan's three-tiered community mental illness prevention strategy as a reference for mental health promotion and rehabilitation programs in hopes that all healthcare providers help facilitate holistic community health.

Postpartum depression (PPD) affects the health of women and is an important issue that impacts negatively on the happiness of affected families. Previous studies have demonstrated that PPD impairs the mother-child attachment, impacts the marital relationship, and may cause family dysfunction. Although PPD is a common phenomenon, the concept of PPD is easily confused with other similar concepts such as postpartum blues and postpartum psychosis, which may delay proper prevention and management. This paper identifies the definitions, characteristics, antecedents, and consequences of PPD as well as provides empirical screen measurements and examples of model, borderline, and contrary cases in order to differentiate between the concepts of PPD and other disorders using Walker and Avant's (2011) concept analysis methodology. Three defining characteristics of postpartum depression were identified. First, depression begins four to six weeks after delivery and continues for at least two weeks. Second, we benchmarked over 5 depressive symptoms. Third, postpartum depression may disrupt puerperal women's lives by making it difficult for them to care for their babies and to concentrate on daily tasks. We hope that this article enhances nurses' professional competences to detect PPD as early as possible and to promote the quality of care received by postpartum women and their family members. To explore the effect of Baduanjin exercise on the self-rated health of some special college students in China, and to provide theoretical reference and practical basis for popularizing Baduanjin and making it "enter the campus and be included in PE curriculum". By using the method of experiment and mathematical statistics, this paper takes 69 special college students who take Sports Health Care Course as the experimental objects in two universities, and adopts Self-rated Health Scale (SRHMSV110) to measure and analyze the physical health, mental health, social adaptation and the overall health level of the special college students before and after the experiment. Results: 1) Before the experiment, the experimental group and the control group in physical health, mental health, social adaptation and overall health scores were not statistically significant (P > 0.05). After the experiment, there were significant differences between the experimental group and the control group in physical health, mental health, social health and overall health (P<0.01), indicating that Baduanjin exercise improved the self-rated health level of the special college students in the experimental group; 2) After Baduanjin exercise, the scores of general health level and other dimensions of the students in the experimental group were higher than those before the experiment, and the difference test results were all P < 0.01. The control group before and after Baduanjin exercise overall health and its various dimensions score difference test results were P > 0.05, which further shows that Baduanjin exercise can improve the health level of special college students. Research conclusion: The mean self-rating scores of physical health, mental health, social adaptation and general health level of the special college students are significantly lower than that of the general college students, whose self-rated health status is general, especially the problems in the mental health self-rating are prominent. 8-week Baduanjin exercise of moderate intensity, 3 times per week, 40-60 minutes each time can significantly improve the level of special college students' health. It is suggested that Baduanjin should be included in the curriculum of sports health care or as a means of health intervention for special college students. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

This study aims to explore the theory of Zen Master Hui-Neng using quantitative method to verify the theoretical characteristics, Master Hui-Neng is well known as the first Chinese Zen Master, who interpreted Buddhism practice with the viewpoint of Chinese culture into the Platform Sutra of the Sixth Patriarch Hui-Neng. This paper aims to interpret the viewpoint of Platform Sutra by content analysis method, and verify how it describes mental health state of people by empirical research as well. In brief, the theory of Hui-Neng states that people are born with self-nature in commonality. Individuals who identify the self-nature and in the "adaptively" consciousness processing can reach the optimal mental health and state of wisdom. On the contrary, emotional disturbances may be generated for those who do not. The two primary purposes of this study are (1) to investigate the difference of self-schema character and fitness in relate to the theory of Zen Master Hui-Neng in different mental health state, (2) to examine the change of characteristics of self-schema and fitness regarding the theory of Zen Master Hui- Neng after the intensive Zen meditation training in a short term. 54 high school students, who were divided into three different groups based on their mental state. Perception Habit Scale" (PHS) was provided to analyze the results by using one-way analysis of variance (ANOVA). The object-relationship characteristics of self-schema were then decoded and the variables were analyzed by independent chi-square (χ2) test. The PHS was developed with the viewpoint of "adaptively" consciousness processing, includes six following indexes: pure-perception, absorption, here and now, awareness, neutrality as mirror, self-adjusting. Another scaling was the characteristics of object-relationships with identification of the selfnature; include six levels of object relations of conflict, denying, self-center, adaptability, concordance, and selftranscendence. The results indicated that (1) The PHSs and distribution of the levels of object-relationships for the subjects of the three groups were significant. The healthier one's mental state is, higher level of object-relationships would be. (2) The main differences of the three groups indicated that there are characteristics of the self-schema and degrees of fitness for the Hui-Neng Zen between different degrees of mental health. To achieve the second purpose, study two employed a pre-post experiment design of unequal groups. Recruiting from senior high schools, there were 8 participants in the experiment group (which attended the Zen meditation training) and 14 participants were in the control group The two variables regarding the characteristics of self-schema are levels of object-relationships which were analyzed by dependent chi-square (χ2) test, and "Perception habit scale" (PHS) which were analyzed by one-way analysis of variance (ANOVA). The results indicated that the differences between pretest and posttest are significant for the experiment group, while the control group is not. That is, for the experiment group after Zen meditation training the score of PHSs, distribution of characteristics of higher level object relationships. To conclude, through the intensive Zen meditation in a short term, both the characteristics of the self-schema and degrees of fitness for the Hui-Neng Zen theory improved. The results of this research supported that the mind (nature) viewpoint of the self-identity system of the Hui-Neng Zen is suitable for the realization of self-schema and state of mental health. Zen meditation may effectively adjust individuals' self-schema characteristics to a better one. Based on the theory of Hui-Neng and findings of this study, the researcher developed a model of the process of self-nature actualization and the application both on counseling and special education. This paper attempts to explore the mental health problems of the youth in Hong Kong and presents some discussions on this subject. A model of holistic well-being is recommended to enhance the mental health of young people from physical, psychological, social, spiritual, and family-orientated perspectives. The latter part of this paper suggests the promotion of early intervention, community mental health education, and some preventive directions, such as policy advocation from family, education, medical, and social service perspectives. Pain is a common, normal, and healthy physical phenomenon during childbirth. However, widely held public and clinical perspectives treat pain as a pathologic process and consider labor pain in a negative context. These perspectives ignore the positive effects of pain in the domains of protection, new life, expectation, purpose, preparation, and progression. The pain interpretation and pain experience of new mothers deeply impact their mental health, maternal-infant relationship, and transition to motherhood. This paper introduces the common myths related to labor pain, the three stages of pain transmission, and the current approaches to pain management. The authors hope childbirth caregivers may accept labor pain as a meaningful, pleasant, and positive gift, which is the first and most important step toward effective pain management. Tooth agenesis, belonging to the abnormal tooth development, is a common disease in clinic. The disease not only affects the person's chewing function, but also influences the pronunciation, appearance and mental health. In the past, genetic linkage and. molecular biology research have made clear of part of the genetic mutations' sites of the syndromic and non-syndromic tooth agenesis. Although the mechanism was not clear yet, but the important mutations are now known to be involved in many factors. Childhood experience is a cornerstone of personality development. A child's cognitive function, self-concept, and behavioral development relate significantly to parental attitudes as well as to the way they were treated during childhood. The literature suggests a significant association between parenting practices and the mental health of the parents, temperament of the child, and socio-cultural factors. Raising children is typically central to the life of transnational marriage women living in Taiwan. They view parenting children as a life transforming experience. However, they must invest more effort than local mothers to survive in Taiwan. Thus, it is worth investigating the parenting practices of this significant subset of Taiwan's population. This paper applied parenting concepts to describe the condition and possible problems of immigrant women in parenting children. Based on study results, we summarize transnational marriage and its impact on parenting practices. The authors hope this paper provides information useful to identifying parenting difficulties faced by immigrant mothers so that healthcare professionals can provide relevant information and assistance to improve overall parenting practices and benefit the development of Taiwan's youngest generation. Objective This paper explores the relationships between mental health status of the patients' parents, whose children have cleft lip and palate, and their social impact factors. Methods The 12-item general health questionnaire (GHQ-12) and the social support rating scale were used to conduct a questionnaire survey of 59 patients' parents. A data statistical analysis was done by using SPSS 13.0 software and Excel 2007 software. Results 1)The mental health status of the patients' parents was in the middle level. 2) The mental health status of the patients' parents was related with the basic personal Situations. It was apparently influenced by the qualifications and subjective state of mind. 3) The structure and relationship of the interpersonal networks of the patients' parents were the major constraint factors on the mental health status. 4) The social support degree and mental health status were positively correlated. Conclusion The social network and social support have important influences on the mental health status of the parents whose children have cleft lip and palate. The introduction of modem psychotherapy in China has undergone three consecutive stages marked by the following events: the publication of the first folk psychotherapy book; the establishment of abnormal psychology as a discipline; and the launch of Mental Hygiene Movement as a great event in the development of modem psychology. In terms of the development of modem Chinese thoughts, these three events were closely related to the then social mentality. When ancient China entered a modem society, the Chinese intellectuals at that time called for the entry of "individuals" onto the social stage under the inspiration of the two key notions of science and democracy. However, it was difficult for them to get rid of the collective unconsciousness of the traditional mentality on the social order. Therefore, when the Western psychotherapy met Chinese culture at the first time, two different trends of thoughts were born: the indigenous idea of mental hygiene and the Sinicization of die Western theory of mental hygiene. On the basis of excavating a large amount of precious historical material, this paper reviews the process of how Western psychotherapy was first introduced to China, and on this basis, puts forward the enlightenment brought about by the current path followed by Chinese psychotherapy. Firstly, there are many ideas in Chinese traditional culture that can become the theoretical resources of modem psychotherapy. Secondly, we need to reflect on the social and cultural conditions behind the psychological factors within the social and cultural context.
