In multiple attribute decision making (MADM) issues, the ambiguity, imprecision, and imperfection of assessment information may lead to inadequate decision-making results. However, the Z-number suggested by Zadeh in 2011 could somehow prevent this problem. For MADM issues with unknown attributes weights, an extended Distance from the Average Solution (EDAS) method is proposed under a mixture Z-number environment. In addition, the Criteria Importance Through Inter-criteria Correlation (CRITIC) method is used to estimate the weights of the criterion, which is easy to calculate and avoids subjective forecasts. A novel illustrative example is provided to demonstrate the feasibility, validity, and practicability of the presented method, and is compared with existing decision methods. Purpose: The purpose of this study was to comprehensively understand anal canal adenocarcinomas (AA) and develop a nomogram for prognostic prediction of AA. Methods: Data were extracted from the Surveillance, Epidemiology, and End Results (SEER) database (the year 2004–2015). An external validation set was collected from West China Hospital (WCH) databases. Propensity-score matching (PSM) was performed to balance the demographic characteristic. A novel nomogram was developed to estimate individual survival probability and its performance was validated using the concordance index (C-index), calibration curves, and decision curve analyses (DCA). Results: A total of 7901 patients were enrolled including 749 AA patients and 7152 squamous cell carcinomas of the anal canal (ASCC) patients. Before PSM, patients with AA had shorter cancer-specific survival (CSS) and OS than those with ASCC. However, after PSM, patients with AA were related to a favorable OS (p < 0.001), but a comparable CSS (p = 0.140) to those with ASCC. Age, sex, grade, surgery, and M stage were the independent prognostic factors of CSS for AA and were included in the establishment of a novel nomogram. Patients from the WCH database (n = 112) were used as an external validation cohort. The C-index of the nomogram was 0.78 and 0.735 in internal and external validation, respectively, which suggested the good discrimination power of the model. Furthermore, calibration curves and DCA suggested good agreement between the predicted and actual survival. Lastly, a risk classification system based on a nomogram revealed the reliability of the novel model. Conclusion: AA and ASCC had distinct clinical features. AA was associated with a better prognosis than ASCC after PSM. The model of nomogram showed an accurate predictive ability for prognostic factors of AA patients. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Inhibitors of COMT are clinically used for the treatment of Parkinson's disease. Here, we report the first natural pentacyclic triterpenoid-type COMT inhibitors and their structure-activity relationships and inhibition mechanism. The most potent compounds were found to be oleanic acid, betulinic acid and celastrol with IC50 values of 3.89–5.07 μM, that acted as mixed (uncompetitive plus non-competitive) inhibitors of COMT, representing a new skeleton of COMT inhibitor. Molecular docking suggested that they can specifically recognise and bind with the unique hydrophobic residues surrounding the catechol pocket. Furthermore, oleanic acid and betulinic acid proved to be less disruptive of mitochondrial membrane potential (MMP) compared to tolcapone, thus reducing the risk of liver toxicity. Recently, the TODIM method has been used to solve multiple attribute decision making (MADM) problems. The interval-valued Pythagorean fuzzy sets (IVPFSs) are useful tools to depict uncertainty of the MADM. In this paper, we will extend the TODIM method to the MADM with the interval-valued Pythagorean fuzzy numbers (IVPFNs). Firstly, the definition, comparison and distance of IVPFNs are briefly introduced, and the steps of the classical TODIM method for MADM problems are presented. Then, the extended classical TODIM method is proposed to deal with MADM problems with the IVPFNs, and its significant characteristic is that it can fully consider the decision makers' bounded rationality which is a real action in decision making. Furthermore, we develop the concept of the q-rung interval-valued orthopair fuzzy sets (q-RIVOFSs) and extend the TODIM method to q-RIVOFNs. Catalytic oxidation of cellulose using O 2 in aqueous solution shows important potential in the production of formic acid, an important industrial chemical as well as a promising hydrogen storage material. However, the microscopic oxidation mechanism is unclear due to the challenges in observing the cleavage of chemical bonds and the formation of transient intermediates and radicals. In this work, a combination of experimental and theoretical methods has been used to explore the catalytic oxidation mechanism of cellulose to formic acid. In the oxidation of cellulose, hydrogen cation plays a catalytic role and a decrease in pH improves the transformation with 57.7% formic acid obtained. Based on the model compound experiments, intermediate detection, molecular dynamics simulation, and density functional theory calculation, a mechanism is proposed, in which polyhydroxy aldehydes generated by cellulose hydrolysis undergo a continuous carbon–carbon bond cleavage-oxidation reaction to form formic acid with aldehyde moiety as the direct precursor. Acid has a catalytic effect on the cleavage-oxidation reaction of carbon–carbon bonds, reducing the energy barrier of carbon–carbon bond cleavage through generating epoxy intermediates. The aldehyde moieties are kept at an appreciable concentration, thereby increasing the yield of formic acid. Moreover, it is confirmed that the carboxyl moiety obtained by the oxidation of aldehyde is the precursor of the by-product CO 2. MoS 2 is a promising anode material due to its graphite-like structure and high theoretical capacity (∼670 mAh g −1 ). Fast capacity fading and severe structural deterioration as a result of repeated lithium insertion restrict its application, however. Recently, we successfully synthesized a new type of MoS 2 /C composite and found that the composite showed excellent electrochemical performance, such as by its high capacity of 982 mAhg −1 after 100 cycles. The composite was synthesized by a simplified thermal reduction method in which cetyl trimethylammonium bromide (CTAB) and silica nanospheres are used as the carbon source and template material, respectively. Such favorable capacity retention could be attributed to the large specific surface area due to the effective carbon dispersion in the composite, as well as the enlargement of the interlayer spacing in the S-Mo-S structure. The aim of this study was to evaluate the effect and safety of autologous peripheral blood stem cell transplantation (APBSCT) in children and adolescents with non-Hodgkin lymphoma (NHL). Ten patients with NHL were analyzed retrospectively. In all the patients, lymph node enlargement was most frequently detected. Patients with a mediastinal mass presented with a cough, palpitation and shortness of breath. Extranodal patients presented with abdominal pain, inability to walk and vaginal bleeding. All patients underwent APBSCT with conditioning regimens BEAM or BuCy. Among them, four patients with B-cell NHL received rituximab in addition to the conditioning regimen. Hematopoietic reconstitution was observed in all patients. Severe toxicity and transplant-related mortality were not observed. Prior to APBSCT, nine patients with a status of complete response (CR) and CR unconfirmed achieved continuing complete remission. Only one patient with partial response succumbed to progressive disease. APBSCT in children and adolescents with NHL is a safe, convenient and efficient treatment. The BEAM conditioning regimen was shown to be effective and tolerable for children and adolescents with NHL. Rituximab is a safe agent in the transplantation. The article discusses large B‑cell lymphoma in the leg being a rare heterogeneous malignant situation. It examines primary cutaneous B‑cell lymphoma and the manifestation of the plaques on the legs of elderly people. Also presented is the study of a 51 year old man admitted with a 8‑month history of a progressively enlarging red plaque, a biopsy revealing a dense atypical lymphocytic infiltrate, and the survival time for this disease being 5 years.

In this paper, we investigate the uncertain multiple attribute group decision making (MAGDM) problems in which the attributes and experts are in different priority level. Motivated by the idea of prioritized aggregation operators (Yager 2008), we develop some prioritized aggregation operators for aggregating uncertain information, and then apply them to develop some models for uncertain multiple attribute group decision making (MAGDM) problems in which the attributes and experts are in different priority level. In this paper, we investigate the multiple attribute decision making (MADM) problems with 2-tuple linguistic information. Motivated by the ideal of Bonferroni mean and geometric Bonferroni mean, we develop two aggregation techniques called the 2-tuple linguistic Bonferroni mean (2TLBM) operator and the 2-tuple linguistic geometric Bonferroni mean (2TLGBM) operator for aggregating the 2-tuple linguistic information. We study its properties and discuss its special cases. For the situations where the input arguments have different importance, we then define the 2-tuple linguistic weighted Bonferroni mean (2TLWBM) operator and the 2-tuple linguistic weighted geometric Bonferroni mean (2TLWGBM) operator, based on which we develop two procedure for multiple attribute decision making under the 2-tuple linguistic environments. Background: Rapid and simultaneous splicing of multiple DNA fragments is frequently required in many recombinant DNA projects. However, former overlap extension PCRs, the most common methods for splicing DNA fragments, are not really simultaneous fusing of multiple DNA fragments. Results: We performed an optimized method which allowed simultaneous splicing of multiple DNA fragments in one PCR reaction. Shorter outermost primers were prior mixed with other PCR components at the same time. A sequential thermo cycling program was adopted for overlap extension reaction and amplification of spliced DNA. Annealing temperature was relatively higher in the overlap extension reaction stage than in the fused DNA amplification. Finally we successfully harvested target PCR products deriving from fusion of two to seven DNA fragments after 5-10 cycles for overlap extension reaction and then 30 cycles for fused DNA amplification. Conclusions: Our method provides more rapid, economical and handy approach to accurately splice multiple DNA fragments. We believe that our simultaneous splicing overlap extension PCR can be used to fuse more than seven DNA fragments as long as the DNA polymerase can match. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Abstract: The aim of this paper is to investigate the multiple attribute decision making problems with intuitionistic fuzzy information, in which the information about attribute weights is incompletely known, and the attribute values take the form of intuitionistic fuzzy numbers. In order to get the weight vector of the attribute, we establish an optimization model based on the basic ideal of traditional gray relational analysis (GRA) method, by which the attribute weights can be determined. For the special situations where the information about attribute weights is completely unknown, we establish another optimization model. By solving this model, we get a simple and exact formula, which can be used to determine the attribute weights. Then, based on the traditional GRA method, calculation steps for solving intuitionistic fuzzy multiple attribute decision-making problems with incompletely known weight information are given. Furthermore, we have extended the above results to an interval-valued intuitionistic fuzzy environment and developed modified GRA method for interval-valued intuitionistic fuzzy multiple attribute decision-making with incompletely known attribute weight information. Abstract: With respect to 2-tuple linguistic multiple attribute group decision making problems with incomplete weight information, some basic concepts and operational laws of 2-tuple linguistic variables are introduced. An optimization model based on the maximizing deviation method, by which the attribute weights can be determined, is established. According to the traditional ideas of grey relational analysis (GRA), the optimal alternative(s) is determined by calculating the linguistic degree of grey relation of every alternative and 2-tuple linguistic positive ideal solution and 2-tuple linguistic negative ideal solution. It is based on the concept that the optimal alternative should have the largest degree of grey relation from positive ideal solution and the smallest degree of grey relation from the negative ideal solution. The method has exact characteristic in linguistic information processing. It avoided information distortion and losing which occur formerly in the linguistic information processing. Abstract: To study the problem of multiple attribute decision making in which the decision making information values are triangular fuzzy number, a new group decision making method is proposed. Then the calculation steps to solve it are given. As the key step, a new operator called fuzzy induced ordered weighted harmonic mean (FIOWHM) operator is proposed and a method based on the fuzzy weighted harmonic mean (FWHM) operator and FIOWHM operators for fuzzy MAGDM is presented. The priority based on possibility degree for the fuzzy multiple attribute decision making problem is proposed. At last, a numerical example is provided to illustrate the proposed method. In December 2009, within just weeks of the issuance of several controversial (and arguably ultra vires) tax circulars by the Ministry of Finance (MOF) and by the State Administration of Taxation (SAT), the SAT promulgated a seminal regulation governing informal rulemaking activities of all tax authorities in China. This regulation took effect on 1 July 2010 and promises to significantly improve the clarity, transparency, predictability and quality of rulemaking on taxation in the PRC. Ironically, it can also be seen as a rebuke to a cynical view that is rather prevalent among Chinese tax practitioners and reinforced by the recent problematic tax circulars: namely, that because the PRC government does not care about creating order in tax administration and taxpayers are unwilling or are unable to enforce their rights, informal rules issued by the government should be given full weight even if they contradict laws created by higher authority and/or are inconsistent with each other. The new SAT regulation on informal rulemaking is just one illustration of the dynamic development of the rule of law in taxation in China. Abstract: With respect to multiple attribute group decision-making problems with linguistic information of attribute values and weight values, a group decision analysis is proposed. Some new aggregation operators are proposed: the extended 2-tuple weighted geometric (ET-WG) and the extended 2-tuple ordered weighted geometric (ET-OWG) operator and properties of the operators are analyzed. Then, A method based on the ET-WG and ET-OWG operators for multiple attribute group decision-making is presented. In the approach, alternative appraisal values are calculated by the aggregation of 2-tuple linguistic information. Abstract: In this paper, we construct new explicit exact solutions for the coupled the (2+1)-dimensional Konopelchenko–Dubrovsky equation (KD equation) by using a improved mapping approach and variable separation method. By means of the method, new types of variable-separation solutions (including solitary wave solutions, periodic wave solutions and rational function solutions) for the KD system are successfully obtained. In this paper, we propose an uncertain linguistic hybrid geometric mean (ULHGM) operator, which is based on the uncertain linguistic weighted geometric mean (ULWGM) operator and the uncertain linguistic ordered weighted geometric (ULOWG) operator proposed by Xu [Z. S. Xu, "An approach based on the uncertain LOWG and induced uncertain LOWG operators to group decision making with uncertain multiplicative linguistic preference relations", Decision Support Systems41 (2006) 488–499] and study some desirable properties of the ULHGM operator. We have proved both ULWGM and ULOWG operators are the special case of the ULHGM operator. The ULHGM operator generalizes both the ULWGM and ULOWG operators, and reflects the importance degrees of both the given arguments and their ordered positions. Based on the ULWGM and ULHGM operators, we propose a practical method for multiple attribute group decision making with uncertain linguistic preference relations. The present study investigated the possible clinical significance of serum CA125 levels in patients with non-Hodgkin's lymphoma (NHL) and the mechanism of secretion. Serum CA125 levels in 335 patients with NHL were measured by enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay. The tissue CA125 expression in 22 patients with NHL was performed on paraffin section by immunohistochemical methods. One hundred and ninety-eight cases (59.1%) were found to have elevated serum CA125 levels. Serum CA125 levels were associated with clinical stage, effusions, high serum lactate dehydrogenase and β2-M levels, and response to therapy. Microscopically, immunohistochemical staining revealed that malignant tumor cells demonstrated negative CA125 expression in all of the 22 cases. Our results suggested that serum CA125 levels could be an interesting tumor marker in NHL. The immunohistochemical study suggested that CA125 appeared not to be secreted by lymphoma cells directly. Point-, line- or boundary-sampled intercepts may be measured inside a particle as a measure of particle size. Each intercept is primarily characterized by three geometric properties: length, location and orientation. Circle and sphere models are used in the present study to analyze these properties. The probability distribution function, probability density function, expectation and coefficient of variation for each of the properties were presented based on geometric probability and mathematical statistics. Such presentation would be helpful for potential users of stereology to better understand the concept of intercepts and implement stereological intercept measurement for estimation of particle sizes in practice. Environmental conditions during sporulation, such as temperature, pH value, and mineral content, can significantly influence the formation production and resistance of spores. In this study, we investigated the sporulation capacity and resistance of Alicyclobacillus acidoterrestris (AAT) spores obtained at different temperatures (25 °C, 35 °C, 45 °C) to Dielectric Barrier Discharge Atmospheric cold plasma (DBD-ACP, 20 and 30 kV for 2–8 min). The results indicated that the efficiency of sporulation was highest at the optimum temperature (45 °C), deviation from optimal temperature would have a negative effect on sporulation. Otherwise, sporicidal efficiency of DBD-ACP increased with longer treatment time and lower sporulation temperatures, suggesting that AAT spores exhibit weaker resistance to DBD-ACP at lower sporulation temperature. Results from the release of DPA, and electron microscopic observations confirmed that DBD-ACP caused disruption of the cortex and membrane structure of AAT spores, leading to the release of intracellular contents and subsequent spore's death. Further analysis through proteomics revealed intriguing insights into the differences between spores formed at 25 °C and those at 45 °C. Specifically, spores formed at 25 °C exhibited lower expression levels of proteins related to sporulation, intracellular energy metabolism, membrane transport, and significant down-regulation of proteins involved in peptidoglycan and spore coat formation compared to those at 45 °C. These alterations likely contribute to the development of a thinner and looser spore structure, rendering it less effective in defending, i.e. less resistant to DBD-ACP treatment. AAT spores' resistance to pasteurization and persistence in NFC juices impact juice quality and safety. This study investigates the resistance of AAT spore to DBD-ACP treatment under different sporulation temperatures. Insights into sporicidal behavior of DBD-ACP and the effect of sporulation temperature on resistance provide essential knowledge for optimizing juice processing and enhancing microbial safety. Hepatitis B virus ( HBV)-associated nephropathy is not a rare manifestation of HBV infection; this could result in diagnostic confusion and the possible misidentification of a diabetic patient with albuminuria. We present the first published case of a HBV-associated nephropathy occurring in a patient with diabetes. The patient was a 24-year-old man who was admitted to hospital with 4 days of generalized swelling and oliguria. He had a 3-year history of weight loss, and a 1-year history of polydipsia and polyuria before the symptoms of generalized swelling and oliguria appeared. Laboratory tests showed a fasting blood sugar of 15.1 mmol/L and glycated hemoglobin of 18.1%. The 24-h urine protein excretion was 2807.8 mg and serum albumin was 19.1 g/L. The diagnosis of HBV-associated nephropathy was confirmed by serological evaluations of HBV antigen and antibodies, immunohistochemical evidence of HBV-related antigens, and immune complexes in renal biopsies. Rf4 is a dominant restorer gene for CMS-C and has great value in hybrid maize breeding, but little information concerning its functional mechanism is known. Results: To reveal the functional mechanism of Rf4, we developed a pair of maize near-isogenic lines (NILs) for the Rf4 locus, which included a NIL_rf4 male-sterile line and a NIL_Rf4 male fertility-restored line. Genetic analysis and molecular marker detection indicated that the male fertility of NIL_Rf4 was controlled by Rf4. Whole-genome sequencing demonstrated genomic differences between the two NILs was clustered in the Rf4 mapping region. Unmapped reads of NILs were further assembled to uncover Rf4 candidates. RNA-Seq was then performed for the developing anthers of the NILs to identify critical genes and pathways associated with fertility restoration. A total of 7125 differentially expressed genes (DEGs) were identified. These DEGs were significantly enriched in 242 Gene Ontology (GO) categories, wherein 100 DEGs were involved in pollen tube development, pollen tube growth, pollen development, and gametophyte development. Homology analysis revealed 198 male fertility-related DEGs, and pathway enrichment analysis revealed that 58 DEGs were enriched in cell energy metabolism processes involved in glycolysis, the pentose phosphate pathway, and pyruvate metabolism. By querying the Plant Reactome Pathway database, we found that 14 of the DEGs were involved in the mitochondrial tricarboxylic acid (TCA) cycle and that most of them belonged to the isocitrate dehydrogenase (IDH) and oxoglutarate dehydrogenase (OGDH) enzyme complexes. Transcriptome sequencing and real-time quantitative PCR (qPCR) showed that all the above TCA cycle-related genes were up-regulated in NIL_Rf4. The results of our subsequent enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA) experiments pointed out that the contents of both the IDH and OGDH enzymes accumulated more in the spikelets of NIL_Rf4 than in those of NIL_rf4. Conclusion: The present research provides valuable genomic resources for deep insight into the molecular mechanism underlying CMS-C male fertility restoration. Importantly, our results indicated that genes involved in energy metabolism, especially some mitochondrial TCA cycle-related genes, were associated with maize CMS-C male fertility restoration. Summary: Alicyclobacillus acidoterrestris is a typical endospore‐forming microorganism, whose spores are able to germinate in Not From Concentrate juice causing its spoilage. In this work, dielectric barrier discharge atmospheric cold plasma (DBD‐ACP) at the voltage of 30 kV was used to inactivate Alicyclobacillus acidoterrestris spores in NFC juice (2–8 min). The results showed spores reduced nearly 3‐log CFU mL−1 after 8 min treatment, and the morphology of spores were severely disrupted, causing the release of their contents. Furthermore, proteomic analysis showed totals of 122 and 170 different expression proteins were detected in group C (control)/Ct1 (30 kV, 4 min) and C/Ct2 (30 kV, 8 min), respectively, indicating that metabolic activities of spores including amino acid and energy metabolic, protein biosynthesis, DNA replication and spore germination are inhibited. This study confirms the inactivation of Alicyclobacillus acidoterrestris spores by DBD‐ACP and provides some new perspectives on the inactivation mechanisms of spores by DBD‐ACP. Chemically synthetic nanomotors can consume fuel in the environment and utilize the self-generated concentration gradient to self-propel themselves in the system. We study the collective dynamics of an ensemble of sphere dimers built from linked catalytic and noncatalytic monomers. Because of the confinement from the fuel field and the interactions among motors, the ensemble of dimer motors can self-organize into various nanostructures, such as a radial pattern in the spherical fuel field and a staggered radial pattern in a cylindrical fuel field. The influence of the dimer volume fraction on the self-assembly is also investigated and the formed nanostructures are analyzed in detail. Background: Selenium (Se) plays a key role in controlling several processes in plant development, such as root growth and regulation of enzyme activity. However, research on the effects of Se in Sophora tonkinensis, a medicinal plant, has not been reported. To elucidate the effect of Se on the accumulation of secondary metabolites in tissue-cultured seedlings of S. tonkinensis. Materials and Methods: Tissue culture seedlings of S. tonkinensis was treated with different concentrations of Se in the rooting medium. Agronomic traits of roots and concentrations of hormones and some secondary metabolites were measured from seedlings. Results: The results show that (1) root growth of tissue culture seedlings were stimulated by Se; (2) a specific amount of Se enhanced the activities of peroxidase (POD) and superoxide dismutase (SOD), as well as the production and storage of soluble proteins and chlorophyll; and (3) Se treatment lowered brassinolide (BR) content, and 15 mg/L Se minimized abscisic acid (ABA) content, while 60 mg/L Se enhanced ABA content. The gibberellin (GA3) content in seedlings increased significantly compared with the control under the treatment of 60 mg/L Se. Abstract: Starting from two low‐nuclearity linear synthesised Co3 precursors {[Co3L’2(H2O)6]⋅2NO3⋅4H2O} (1) and {[Co3L’2(H2O)6]⋅2NO3} (2) (here, H2L=bis((pyridine‐2‐yl)‐1,2,4‐triazol‐5‐yl)methane, H2L’=bis((pyridine‐2‐yl)‐1,2,4‐triazol −5‐yl)ketone), a series of Co3‐substituted complexes and two higher‐nuclearity Co(II) clusters {[Co8L6(μ3‐O)2]⋅5H2O} (3) and [Co6L4(MeOH)6(OAc)4] (4) have been synthesized and characterized through regulating solvent, anion, and pH conditions. For tracking the formation of higher‐nuclearity clusters, the single‐crystal X‐ray diffraction (SXRD), powder X‐ray diffraction (PXRD) and electrospray ionization mass spectrometry (ESI‐MS) analyses for the solid‐liquid phase at different times, revealed that [Co2L2] and [Co2L] species can combine together to form [Co4L3] species, which bridged each other through two [μ3‐O]2− ions in strong alkaline conditions, to get [Co8(μ3‐O)2L6] units in 3; which or combined [Co2L] species in weak alkaline conditions, to get [Co6L4] species in 4. Although there are many new types of environmentally friendly fertilizers that can improve maize yield, chemical fertilizers are the most widespread type of fertilizer used in the agricultural sector of China due to their low cost and ease of application. However, the misuse of chemical fertilizers could lead to environmental problems, such as the massive emission of greenhouse gases (GHG). Therefore, it is important to determine how fertilizer-use efficiency (FUE) could be improved to stabilize or increase maize yield while reducing GHG emissions. In this study, we collected 6618 date records which include three datasets (for N, P, and K) from five maize-growing regions in China from 2005 to 2018, and performed a meta-analysis on the effects of N, K, and P fertilization levels on maize yield, partial factor productivity (PFP), agronomic efficiency (AE), and the carbon footprint of maize production. Additionally, scenario analyses were performed to estimate optimal fertilizer application rates for stabilizing or increasing maize yield while reducing GHG emissions. It was shown that FUE and maize yield responses to fertilization level varied in different regions. Compared to the past, the maize production of China has improved significantly in terms of FUE and its carbon footprint in recent years. Because of improvements in maize cultivars and cultivation technologies, it is possible to decrease N, P, and K application rates and reduce per unit area carbon footprint of maize, without compromising yield. In the future, N fertilization should be reduced by 10% from current levels, and the application of P and K fertilizers should be increased or decreased depending on the conditions of each maize-growing region. Background: The thalamus plays a crucial role in transmitting nociceptive information to various cortical regions involving migraine-related allodynia and photophobia. Abnormal structural and functional alterations related to the thalamus have been well established. However, it is unknown whether the brain structure and function of the thalamic subregions are differentially affected in this disorder. In this study, we aimed to clarify this issue by comparing the structure and function of 16 thalamic subregions between patients with episodic migraine (EM) and healthy controls (HCs). Methods: Twenty-seven patients with EM and 30 sex-, age- and education-matched HCs underwent resting-state functional and structural magnetic resonance imaging scans. Functional connectivity (rsFC), grey matter volume (GMV), and diffusion tensor imaging (DTI) parameters of each subregion of the thalamus were calculated and compared between the two groups. Furthermore, correlation analyses between neuroimaging changes and clinical features were performed in this study. Results: First, compared with HCs, patients with EM exhibited decreased rsFC between the anterior-medial-posterior subregions of the thalamus and brain regions mainly involved in the medial system of the pain processing pathway and default mode network (DMN). Second, for the whole thalamus and each of its subregions, there were no significant differences in GMV between patients with EM and HCs (P > 0.05, Bonferroni corrected). Third, there was no significant difference in DTI parameters between the two groups (P > 0.05). Finally, decreased rsFC was closely related to scores on the Hamilton Rating Scale for Anxiety (HAMA) and Big Five Inventory (BFI) scales. Conclusion: Selective functional hypoconnectivity in the thalamic subregions provides neuroimaging evidence supporting the important role of thalamocortical pathway dysfunction in episodic migraine, specifically, that it may modulate emotion and different personality traits in migraine patients. The x LiMn 0.9 Fe 0.1 PO 4 · y Li 3 V 2 (PO 4 ) 3 /C ( x : y =1:0, 9:1 5:1, 3:1, 1:1 and 0:1) cathode materials are synthesized by a ball–milling and post–calcination method. XRD results reveal that the x LiMn 0.9 Fe 0.1 PO 4 · y Li 3 V 2 (PO 4 ) 3 /C ( x , y ≠0) composites are composed of LiMn 0.9 Fe 0.1 PO 4 and Li 3 V 2 (PO 4 ) 3 phases, and no impurities are detected. In LiMn 0.9 Fe 0.1 PO 4 –Li 3 V 2 (PO 4 ) 3 system, most of the manganese, iron and vanadium elements in the raw materials tend to form the two major phases, and only small amounts of V, Mn and Fe as dopants enter into the lattice of LiMn 0.9 Fe 0.1 PO 4 and Li 3 V 2 (PO 4 ) 3 . Electrochemical tests show that the x LiMn 0.9 Fe 0.1 PO 4 · y Li 3 V 2 (PO 4 ) 3 /C ( x , y ≠0) composites exhibit much better performance than the single LiMn 0.9 Fe 0.1 PO 4 /C. Among the samples, 5LiMn 0.9 Fe 0.1 PO 4 · Li 3 V 2 (PO 4 ) 3 /C shows the best electrochemical performance. The sample delivers the specific capacities of 158.1, 140.7 and 100.2 mAh g −1 at 0.05, 1 and 4 C rates in the potential range of 2.5–4.5 V, and exhibits very long and flat discharge plateau around 4.0 V up to 1 C rate. Using low nitrogen (N)–tolerant maize varieties serves as a viable means to curtail N fertilizer application while improving crop yield. To investigate the differences in carbon and nitrogen metabolic processes, and the hormones within kernels located at varying positions along the ear, between low N–tolerant and low N–sensitive maize varieties. Furthermore, this research aims to elucidate the ramifications of these observed disparities on kernel weight and yield, particularly when cultivated under low N conditions. The low N–tolerant maize variety (ZH311) and low N–sensitive maize variety (XY508) were applied. The in–situ filed experiment with three N fertilizer treatments of 0 N (0 kg·N ha−1), 150 N (150 kg·N ha−1) and 300 N (300 kg·N ha−1) was conducted in 2017–2019. The apical kernel weight of ZH311 was less affected by low N (0 N and 150 N) and the yield was 25.3–22.9% higher than XY508. The kernel weight was significantly and positively correlated with kernel starch and protein content. The starch and protein contents of ZH311 apical kernels were 6.3–7.3% and 12.4–14.4%, higher than XY508 under low N. It was indicated that the main factor affecting starch accumulation in the apical kernels was Susy activity and protein accumulation was IAA/GA 3 , Z+ZR/GA 3 and GOGAT activity by the redundancy analysis. Under low N, the Susy and GOGAT activity, IAA/GA 3 and Z+ZR/GA 3 in the apical kernel of ZH311 were higher than XY508 by 51.4–39.3% and 65.4–46.9%, 62.1–33.1% and 41.8–48.2%. We have demonstrated to improve the maize yield by increasing the apical kernel weight, which resulted in enhancing the uniformity of the kernel weight along the ear. Under low N conditions, the low N–tolerant maize variety was shown to facilitate the starch and protein biosynthesis by increasing the activity of key enzymes in the carbon and the nitrogen metabolism processes such as Susy and GOGAT in the apical kernels, and optimizing the hormone balance between IAA/GA 3 and Z+ZR/GA 3 , to increase the kernel weight and yield. The findings of this investigation will help understand the underlying factors contributing to the yield variations exhibited among distinct low N–tolerant maize varieties when cultivated under conditions of limited N availability. Polyphyllin I (PPI) and its analogues, including polyphyllin II (PPII), polyphyllin VI (PPVI) and polyphyllin VII (PPVII), are major bioactive compounds isolated from the Chinese herb Chonglou. However, the susceptibilities of PPI and its analogues towards the different cell lines are diversified and the mechanisms are not fully clarified. Thus, the present study aimed to investigate the cytotoxicity of PPI and its analogues on two different cell lines, as well as to explore the underlying mechanisms of these agents via inducing mitochondrial dysfunction. The results showed that PPI and its analogues were cytotoxic agents towards both A549 and HT‐29 cells, with IC50 values ranged from 1.0 to 4.5 μmol/L. Further investigations demonstrated that they decreased the mitochondrial membrane potentials of both A549 and HT‐29 cells in a dose‐dependent manner. Among all tested compounds, PPVI and PPI induced the most obvious changes in Ca2+ haemostasis in these two cell lines. In addition, they could induce the accumulation of ROS in cells and down‐regulated the Bcl‐2 expression, up‐regulated the Bax expression and induced the activity of cleaved caspase‐3 in cells. Collectively, our findings clearly demonstrated the cytotoxic differences and mechanisms of PPI and its analogues induced cell apoptosis and could partially explain the anticancer effects of these natural constituents in Chonglou. There has been increasing evidence for the function of long non-coding RNA (lncRNA) in nasopharyngeal carcinoma (NPC). We aim to delve into the position of lncRNA HOX antisense intergenic RNA (HOTAIR), together with enhancer of zeste homolog 2 (EZH2), E-cadherin and trimethylation of lysine 27 on histone H3 (H3K27me3) in NPC. HOTAIR, EZH2, and E-cadherin expression in NPC tissues and cells were tested. NPC cell biological functions were examined through gain-of and loss-of function assays. The mechanism of lncRNA HOTAIR/E-cadherin/EZH2/H3K27 axis in NPC was decoded. LncRNA HOTAIR and EZH2 were highly expressed in NPC, and E-cadherin was lowly expressed. Down-regulation of HOTAIR or EZH2 inhibited NPC cell progression and tumor growth. HOTAIR recruited histone methylase EZH2 to mediate trimethylation of H3K27 and regulated E-cadherin expression. HOTAIR inhibits E-cadherin by stimulating the trimethylation of H3K27 to promote NPC cell progression through recruiting histone methylase EZH2. • HOTAIR and EZH2 are highly expressed and E-cadherin is poorly expressed in NPC. • Upregulation of HOTAIR or EZH2 induces NPC cell progression and tumor growth. • Down-regulation of HOTAIR or EZH2 inhibits NPC cell progression and tumor growth. • Increased EZH2 compensates HOTAIR silencing in NPC growth. • The study provides a novel reference for treatment of NPC. In this paper, a magnetorheological elastomer (MRE) forming process is developed to form a complicated hollow part of GH4169 superalloy. The novel forming process can realize the differential loading of the forming pressure and avoid liquid leaking in the conventional hydraulic forming process. The principle of the MRE forming process can be illustrated as that the MRE will bulge under the effect of the applied magnetic field. Hence, the local forming pressure in the deformation zone of the part will increase during the forming process. To estimate the range of current and the axial displacement of the punch, a power equation based on power approach and electromagnetic theory is established. Numerical simulations and experiments study the deformation process and the die filling of tube blank under different magnetic field intensities. Response surface methodology (RSM) is used to determine the optimal process parameters. RSM also models the predicted equations of the maximum thinning ratio and the average bulging diameter. Besides, the fitted RSM model's accuracy is quantified by a statistical method of analysis of variance. Background: The tricarboxylic acid (TCA) cycle is crucial for cellular energy metabolism and carbon skeleton supply. However, the detailed functions of the maize TCA cycle genes remain unclear. Results: In this study, 91 TCA genes were identified in maize by a homology search, and they were distributed on 10 chromosomes and 1 contig. Phylogenetic results showed that almost all maize TCA genes could be classified into eight major clades according to their enzyme families. Sequence alignment revealed that several genes in the same subunit shared high protein sequence similarity. The results of cis-acting element analysis suggested that several TCA genes might be involved in signal transduction and plant growth. Expression profile analysis showed that many maize TCA cycle genes were expressed in specific tissues, and replicate genes always shared similar expression patterns. Moreover, qPCR analysis revealed that some TCA genes were highly expressed in the anthers at the microspore meiosis phase. In addition, we predicted the potential interaction networks among the maize TCA genes. Next, we cloned five TCA genes located on different TCA enzyme complexes, Zm00001d008244 (isocitrate dehydrogenase, IDH), Zm00001d017258 (succinyl-CoA synthetase, SCoAL), Zm00001d025258 (α-ketoglutarate dehydrogenase, αKGDH), Zm00001d027558 (aconitase, ACO) and Zm00001d044042 (malate dehydrogenase, MDH). Confocal observation showed that their protein products were mainly localized to the mitochondria; however, Zm00001d025258 and Zm00001d027558 were also distributed in the nucleus, and Zm00001d017258 and Zm00001d044042 were also located in other unknown positions in the cytoplasm. Through the bimolecular fluorescent complimentary (BiFC) method, it was determined that Zm00001d027558 and Zm00001d044042 could form homologous dimers, and both homologous dimers were mainly distributed in the mitochondria. However, no heterodimers were detected between these five genes. Finally, Arabidopsis lines overexpressing the above five genes were constructed, and those transgenic lines exhibited altered primary root length, salt tolerance, and fertility. Conclusion: Sequence compositions, duplication patterns, phylogenetic relationships, cis-elements, expression patterns, and interaction networks were investigated for all maize TCA cycle genes. Five maize TCA genes were overexpressed in Arabidopsis, and they could alter primary root length, salt tolerance, and fertility. Polyrhachis vicina Roger (P. vicina), a traditional Chinese medicinal animal, has been used to treat rheumatoid arthritis, hepatitis, cancer, and other conditions. Due to its anti-inflammatory properties, our previous pharmacological investigations have demonstrated that it is effective against cancer, depression, and hyperuricemia. Nevertheless, the key active components and targets of P. vicina in cancers are still unexplored. The study aimed to evaluate the pharmacological treatment mechanism of the active fraction of P. vicina (AFPR) in treating colorectal cancer (CRC) and to further reveal its active ingredients and key targets. To examine the inhibitory impact of AFPR on CRC growth, tumorigenesis assays, cck-8 assays, colony formation assays, and MMP detection were utilized. The primary components of AFPR were identified by GC-MS analysis. The network pharmacology, molecular docking, qRT-PCR, western blotting, CCK-8 assays, colony formation assay, Hoechst staining, Annexin V-FITC/PI double staining, and MMP detection were performed to pick out the active ingredients and potential key targets of AFPR. The function of Elaidic acid on necroptosis was investigated through siRNA interference and the utilization of inhibitors. Elaidic acid's effectiveness to suppress CRC growth in vivo was assessed using a tumorigenesis experiment. Studies confirmed that AFPR prevented CRC from growing and evoked cell death. Elaidic acid was the main bioactive ingredient in AFPR that targeted ERK. Elaidic acid greatly affected the ability of SW116 cells to form colonies, produce MMP, and undergo necroptosis. Additionally, Elaidic acid promoted necroptosis predominantly by activating ERK/RIPK1/RIPK3/MLKL. According to our findings, Elaidic acid is the main active component of AFPR, which induced necroptosis in CRC through the activation of ERK. It represents a promising alternative therapeutic option for CRC. This work provided experimental support for the therapeutic application of P. vicina Roger in the treatment of CRC. Enhancing the basal internode mechanical strength by improving the canopy light distribution of dense planting maize to reduce the lodging rate is important for establishing a high-yielding and stable population. A three-year field experiment was carried out at three densities treatments (5.25 × 104, 6.75 × 104 and 8.25 × 104 plants hm−2) × four nitrogen fertilizer treatments (0, 120, 180 and 240 kg hm−2) to study canopy light distribution and stalk lodging resistance characteristics. Results showed that grain yield was increased 3.31–14.68% under 6.75 × 104 plants hm−2 treatment compared to 5.25 × 104 plants hm−2. Meanwhile, plant morphology was altered with the increasing of planting density, light interception rate at lower-middle canopy position (0–150 cm) was decreased 15.10%, thus the mechanical strength of the basal internodes was reduced, and the lodging rate was increased 4.66% points. The formation of maize stalk lodging resistance and grain yield was promoted by the nitrogen fertilizer application. The N 180 treatment improved mechanical strength by enhancing canopy light distribution and optimizing internode quality, lodging rate was decreased 6.31–17.22% compared to the N 240 treatment while only a 0.54–7.54% reduction in grain yield, finally. Analysis the relationship between characteristic factors and mechanical strength, we found that internode plumpness (explained the 85.6% percentage of variability) was the key factor affecting basal internode mechanical strength. Growing evidence indicates that GQ1b, one of the gangliosides members, contributes to synaptic transmission and synapse formation. Previous studies have shown that GQ1b could enhance depolarization induced neurotransmitter release, while the role of GQ1b in asynchronous release is still largely unknown. Here in our result, we found low concentration of GQ1b, but not GT1b or GD1b (which were generated from GQ1b by plasma membrane-associated sialidases), evoked asynchronous dopamine (DA) release from both clonal rat pheochromocytoma PC12 cells and rat striatal slices significantly. The release peaked at 2 min after GQ1b exposure, and lasted for more than 6 min. This effect was caused by the enhancement of intracellular Ca 2+ and the activation of Pyk2. Inhibition of Pyk2 by PF-431396 (a dual inhibitor of Pyk2 and FAK) or Pyk2 siRNA abolished DA release induced by GQ1b. Moreover, Pyk2 Y402, but not other tyrosine site, was phosphorylated at the peaking time. The mutant of Pyk2 Y402 (Pyk2-Y402F) was built to confirm the essential role of Y402 activation. Further studies revealed that activated Pyk2 stimulated ERK1/2 and p-38, while only the ERK1/2 activation was indispensable for GQ1b induced DA release, which interacted with Synapsin I directly and led to its phosphorylation, then depolymerization of F-actin, thus contributed to DA release. In conclusion, low concentration of GQ1b is able to enhance asynchronous DA release through Pyk2/ERK/Synapsin I/actin pathway. Insulin resistance is a characteristic feature of type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM) and is characterized by defects in insulin signaling. Protein tyrosine phosphatase 1B (PTP1B) is a key negative regulator of the insulin signaling pathways, and its increased activity and expression are implicated in the pathogenesis of insulin resistance. Therefore, the inhibition of PTP1B is anticipated to become a potential therapeutic strategy to treat T2DM. Fumosorinone (FU), a new natural product isolated from insect fungi Isaria fumosorosea , was found to inhibit PTP1B activity in our previous study. Herein, the effects of FU on insulin resistance and mechanism in vitro and in vivo were investigated. FU increased the insulin-provoked glucose uptake in insulin-resistant HepG2 cells, and also reduced blood glucose and lipid levels of type 2 diabetic KKAy mice. FU decreased the expression of PTP1B both in insulin-resistant HepG2 cells and in liver tissues of diabetic KKAy mice. Furthermore, FU increased the phosphorylation of IRβ, IRS-2, Akt, GSK3β and Erk1/2 in insulin-resistant HepG2 cells, as well as the phosphorylation of IRβ, IRS-2, Akt in liver tissues of diabetic KKAy mice. These results showed that FU increased glucose uptake and improved insulin resistance by down-regulating the expression of PTP1B and activating the insulin signaling pathway, suggesting that it may possess antidiabetic properties. In this study, we propose a spatial prisoner's dilemma game model with a 2-stage strategy updating rule, and focus on the cooperation behavior of the system. In the first stage, i.e., the pre-learning stage, a focal player decides whether to update his strategy according to the pre-learning factor β and the payoff difference between himself and the average of his neighbors. If the player makes up his mind to update, he enters into the second stage, i.e., the learning stage, and adopts a strategy of a randomly selected neighbor according to the standard Fermi updating rule. The simulation results show that the cooperation level has a non-trivial dependence osn the pre-learning factor. Generally, the cooperation frequency decreases as the pre-learning factor increases; but a high cooperation level can be obtained in the intermediate region of -3 < β < -1. We then give some explanations via studying the co-action of pre-learning and learning. Our results may sharpen the understanding of the influence of the strategy updating rule on evolutionary games. In this paper, an analogue model of a memristor using a light-dependent resistor (LDR) is presented. This model can be simplified into two parts: a control circuit and a variable resistor. It can be used to easily verify theoretical presumptions about the switching properties of memristors.
