Avoiding financial losses requires preventing catastrophic oil‐filled power transformer breakdowns. Continuous online transformer monitoring is needed. The authors use paper insulation to evaluate transformer health for continuous online transformer monitoring. The study suggests a new artificial intelligence method for estimating paper insulation residual life in oil‐immersed power transformers. The four artificial intelligence models use backpropagation‐based neural networks to predict paper insulation lifespan. Four primary transformer insulating paper failure indices—degree of polymerisation, 2‐furfuraldehyde, carbon monoxide, and carbon dioxide—form the basis of these models. Each model, including the backpropagation‐based neural networks, estimates paper insulation life using one failure index, along with moisture and temperature data. Simple Summary: Automatic segmentation of organs and other regions of interest is a promising approach for reducing the workload of doctors in radiotherapeutic planning, but it can be hard for doctors and researchers to keep up with current developments. Background: Road accidents are among the most important causes of death and severe personal and financial injuries. Also, its profound social, cultural, and economic effects threaten human societies. This study aimed to estimate the trend of traffic accident victims in Yazd Province, Iran, to predict the number of traffic accident victims in this province. Materials and Methods: Based on traffic casualty statistics referred to forensic medicine in Yazd Province within April 1989 and March 2017 referred to Forensic Medicine of Yazd Province and using an artificial neural network to predict the number of injured for 12 months ending in 2020 has been paid. The neural network used in this study had 12 inputs, one output, and 5 hidden layers. The network predicts the relationship between data after training and learning. The network is considered the MSE benchmark. Results: The number of injured in traffic accidents in Yazd Province in 2020 was equal to 7052 people, with the highest number in December with 832 people and the lowest in June with 414 people. The exact method of use was equal to 92 cases. Conclusion: The trend of traffic accident casualties in Yazd Province in 2020 will be declining. In recent years, the issue of preserving the privacy of parties involved in blockchain transactions has garnered significant attention. To ensure privacy protection for both sides of the transaction, many researchers are using ring signature technology instead of the original signature technology. However, in practice, identifying the signer of anillegal blockchain transactiononce ithas beenplacedon the chainnecessitates a signature technique that offers conditional anonymity. Some illegals can conduct illegal transactions and evade the lawusing ring signatures,which offer perfect anonymity. This paper firstly constructs a conditionally anonymous linkable ring signature using the Diffie-Hellman key exchange protocol and the Elliptic Curve Discrete Logarithm, which offers a non-interactive process for finding the signer of a ring signature in a specific case. Secondly, this paper's proposed scheme is proven correct and secure under Elliptic Curve Discrete Logarithm Assumptions. Lastly, compared to previous constructions, the scheme presented in this paper provides a non-interactive, efficient, and secure confirmation process. In addition, this paper presents the implementation of the proposed scheme on a personal computer, where the confirmation process takes only 2, 16, and 24ms for ring sizes of 4, 24 and 48, respectively, and the confirmation process can be combined with a smart contract on the blockchain with a tested millisecond level of running efficiency. In conclusion, the proposed scheme offers a solution to the challenge of identifying the signer of an illegal blockchain transaction, making it an essential contribution to the field. The Internet of Things (IoT) is a rapidly growing network that shares information over the Internet via interconnected devices. In addition, this network has led to new security challenges in recent years. One of the biggest challenges is the impact of denial-of-service (DoS) attacks on the IoT. The Information-Centric Network (ICN) infrastructure is a critical component of the IoT. The ICN has gained recognition as a promising networking solution for the IoT by supporting IoT devices to be able to communicate and exchange data with each other over the Internet. Moreover, the ICN provides easy access and straightforward security to IoT content. However, the integration of IoT devices into the ICN introduces new security challenges, particularly in the form of DoS attacks. These attacks aim to disrupt or disable the normal operation of the ICN, potentially leading to severe consequences for IoT applications. Machine learning (ML) is a powerful technology. This paper proposes a new approach for developing a robust and efficient solution for detecting DoS attacks in ICN-IoT networks using ML technology. ML is a subset of artificial intelligence (AI) that focuses on the development of algorithms. While several ML algorithms have been explored in the literature, including neural networks, decision trees (DTs), clustering algorithms, XGBoost, J48, multilayer perceptron (MLP) with backpropagation (BP), deep neural networks (DNNs), MLP-BP, RBF-PSO, RBF-JAYA, and RBF-TLBO, researchers compare these detection approaches using classification metrics such as accuracy. This classification metric indicates that SVM, RF, and KNN demonstrate superior performance compared to other alternatives. This paper addresses issues concerning biometric authentication based on handwritten signatures. Our research aimed to check whether a handwritten signature acquired with a mobile device can effectively verify a user's identity. We present a novel online signature verification method using coordinates of points and pressure values at each point collected with a mobile device. Convolutional neural networks are used for signature verification. In this paper, three neural network models are investigated, i.e., two self-made light SigNet and SigNetExt models and the VGG-16 model commonly used in image processing. The convolutional neural networks aim to determine whether the acquired signature sample matches the class declared by the signer. Thus, the scenario of closed set verification is performed. The effectiveness of our method was tested on signatures acquired with mobile phones. We used the subset of the multimodal database, MobiBits, that was captured using a custom-made application and consists of samples acquired from 53 people of diverse ages. The experimental results on accurate data demonstrate that developed architectures of deep neural networks can be successfully used for online handwritten signature verification. De-mining operations are of critical importance for humanitarian efforts and safety in conflict-affected regions. In this paper, we address the challenge of enhancing the accuracy and efficiency of mine detection systems. We present an innovative Deep Learning architecture tailored for pulse induction-based Metallic Mine Detectors (MMD), so called DL-MMD. Our methodology leverages deep neural networks to distinguish amongst nine distinct materials with an exceptional validation accuracy of 93.5%. This high level of precision enables us not only to differentiate between anti-personnel mines, without metal plates but also to detect minuscule 0.2-g vertical paper pins in both mineralized soil and non-mineralized environments. Moreover, through comparative analysis, we demonstrate a substantial 3% and 7% improvement (approx.) in accuracy performance compared to the traditional K-Nearest Neighbors and Support Vector Machine classifiers, respectively. The fusion of deep neural networks with the pulse induction-based MMD not only presents a cost-effective solution but also significantly expedites decision-making processes in de-mining operations, ultimately contributing to improved safety and effectiveness in these critical endeavors. A dual-band UWB coplanar waveguide monopole antenna is presented in this paper. The antenna proposed in this paper consists of an FR4 substrate, two ground planes, and a rectangular patch. The size of the antenna proposed is 24 x 25 x 1 mm³ with a slit of length and width of 5.7 and 0.5 mm, respectively. We received two operating bands, a C- and Ku-band, with both Bi and Omni-directional radiation patterns. The bandwidth values of the first (3.65-7.49) GHz and second (11.5-13.4) GHz band of the proposed antenna are 3.9 GHz and 1.7 GHz, respectively. The proposed antenna operating at a frequency 5.8 GHz has a maximum bandwidth of 4.5 GHz and minimum bandwidth of 1.6 GHz. The characteristics of this antenna show that the antenna proposed in this paper is suitable for dual-band and UWB communication systems. We achieved a wide bandwidth by improving the ground plane. The digitization of distribution power systems has revolutionized the way data are collected and analyzed. In this paper, the critical task of harnessing this information to identify irregularities and anomalies in electricity consumption is tackled. The focus is on detecting non-technical losses (NTLs) and energy theft within distribution networks. A comprehensive overview of the methodologies employed to uncover NTLs and energy theft is presented, leveraging measurements of electricity consumption. The most common scenarios and prevalent cases of anomalies and theft among consumers are identified. Additionally, statistical indicators tailored to specific anomalies are proposed. In this research paper, the practical implementation of numerous artificial intelligence (AI) algorithms, including the artificial neural network (ANN), ANFIS, autoencoder neural network, and K-mean clustering, is highlighted. These algorithms play a central role in our research, and our primary objective is to showcase their effectiveness in identifying NTLs. Real-world data sourced directly from distribution networks are utilized. Additionally, we carefully assess how well statistical methods work and compare them to AI techniques by testing them with real data. The artificial neural network (ANN) accurately identifies various consumer types, exhibiting a frequency error of 7.62%. In contrast, the K-means algorithm shows a slightly higher frequency error of 9.26%, while the adaptive neuro-fuzzy inference system (ANFIS) fails to detect the initial anomaly type, resulting in a frequency error of 11.11%. Our research suggests that AI can make finding irregularities in electricity consumption even more effective. Visual object tracking is a key technology that is used in unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) to achieve autonomous navigation. In recent years, with the rapid development of deep learning, tracking algorithms based on Siamese neural networks have received widespread attention. However, because of complex and diverse tracking scenarios, as well as limited computational resources, most existing tracking algorithms struggle to ensure real-time stable operation while improving tracking performance. Therefore, studying efficient and fast-tracking frameworks, and enhancing the ability of algorithms to respond to complex scenarios has become crucial. Therefore, this paper proposes a cross-parallel attention and efficient match transformer for aerial tracking (SiamEMT). Firstly, we carefully designed the cross-parallel attention mechanism to encode global feature information and to achieve cross-dimensional interaction and feature correlation aggregation via parallel branches, highlighting feature saliency and reducing global redundancy information, as well as improving the tracking algorithm's ability to distinguish between targets and backgrounds. Meanwhile, we implemented an efficient match transformer to achieve feature matching. This network utilizes parallel, lightweight, multi-head attention mechanisms to pass template information to the search region features, better matching the global similarity between the template and search regions, and improving the algorithm's ability to perceive target location and feature information. Experiments on multiple drone public benchmark tests verified the accuracy and robustness of the proposed tracker in drone tracking scenarios. In addition, on the embedded artificial intelligence (AI) platform AGX Xavier, our algorithm achieved real-time tracking speed, indicating that our algorithm can be effectively applied to UAV tracking scenarios. Using optimal assembly relationships, companies can enhance product quality without significantly increasing production costs. However, predicting Assembly Geometric Errors presents a challenging real-world problem in the manufacturing domain. To address this challenge, this paper introduces a highly efficient Transformer-based neural network model known as Predicting Assembly Geometric Errors based on Transformer (PAGEformer). This model accurately captures long-range assembly relationships and predicts final assembly errors. The proposed model incorporates two unique features: firstly, an enhanced self-attention mechanism to more effectively handle long-range dependencies, and secondly, the generation of positional information regarding gaps and fillings to better capture assembly relationships. This paper collected actual assembly data for folding rudder blades for unmanned aerial vehicles and established a Mechanical Assembly Relationship Dataset (MARD) for a comparative study. To further illustrate PAGEformer performance, we conducted extensive testing on a large-scale dataset and performed ablation experiments. The experimental results demonstrated a 15.3% improvement in PAGEformer accuracy compared to ARIMA on the MARD. The integral invariant coordinate I and Roederer's L or L* are proxies for the second and third adiabatic invariants respectively, that characterize charged particle motion in a magnetic field. Their usefulness lies in the fact that they are expressed in more instructive ways than their counterparts: I is equivalent to the path length of the particle motion between two mirror points, whereas L*, although dimensionless, is roughly equivalent to the distance from the center of the Earth to the equatorial point of a given field line, in units of Earth radii, in the simplified case of a dipole magnetic field. However, care should be taken when calculating the above invariants, as the assumption of their adiabaticity is not valid everywhere in the Earth's magnetosphere. This is not clearly stated in state-of-the-art models that are widely used for the calculation of these invariants. In this paper, we compare the values of I and L* as calculated using LANLstar, an artificial neural network developed at the Los Alamos National Laboratory, SPENVIS, a space environment related online tool, IRBEM, a source code library dedicated to radiation belt modelling, and a 3-D particle tracing code that was developed for this purpose. We then attempt to quantify the variations between the calculations of I and L* of those models. Automatic deception detection is an important task with several applications in both direct physical human communication, as well as in computer-mediated one. The objective of this paper is to study the nature of deceptive language. The primary goal of this study is to investigate deception in Romanian written communication. We created a number of artificial intelligence models (based on Support Vector Machine, Random Forest, and Artificial Neural Network) to detect dishonesty in a topic-specific corpus. To assess the efficiency of the Linguistic Inquiry and Word Count (LIWC) categories in Romanian, we conducted a comparison between multiple text representations based on LIWC, TF-IDF, and LSA. The results show that in the case of datasets with a common subject such as the one we used regarding friendship, text categorization is more successful using general text representations such as TF-IDF or LSA. The proposed approach achieves an accuracy of the classification of 91.3%, outperforming the similar approaches presented in the literature. The retinal impulse signal is the basic carrier of visual information. It records the distribution of light on the retina. However, its direct conversion to a scene image is difficult due to the nonlinear characteristics of its distribution. Therefore, the use of artificial neural network to reconstruct the scene from retinal spikes has become an important research area. This paper proposes the architecture of a neural network based on vector quantization, where the feature vectors of spike trains are extracted, compressed, and stored using a feature extraction and compression network. During the decoding process, the nearest neighbour search method is used to find the nearest feature vector corresponding to each feature vector in the feature map. Finally, a reconstruction network is used to decode a new feature map composed of matching feature vectors to obtain a visual scene. This paper also verifies the impact of vector quantization on the characteristics of pulse signals by comparing experiments and visualizing the characteristics before and after vector quantization. The network delivers promising performance when evaluated on different datasets, demonstrating that this research is of great significance for improving relevant applications in the fields of retinal image processing and artificial intelligence. This paper introduces a numerical methodology for classifying and identifying types of bio-based materials through experimental thermal characterization. In contrast to prevailing approaches that primarily focus on thermal conductivity, our characterization methodology encompasses several thermal parameters. In this paper, the physical characteristics of seven types of bio-based concrete were analyzed, focusing on the thermal properties of palm- and esparto-fiber-reinforced concrete. The proposed method uses artificial intelligence techniques, specifically the k-means clustering approach, to segregate data into homogeneous groups with shared thermal characteristics. This enables the elucidation of insights and recommendations regarding the utilization of bio-based insulation in building applications. The results show that the k-means algorithm is able to efficiently classify the reference concrete (RC) with a performance of up to 71%. Additionally, the technique is more accurate when retaining only six centroids, which, among other things, allows all the characteristics associated with each type of concrete to be grouped and identified. Deep learning, a crucial technique for achieving artificial intelligence (AI), has been successfully applied in many fields. The gradual application of the latest architectures of deep learning in the field of time series forecasting (TSF), such as Transformers, has shown excellent performance and results compared to traditional statistical methods. These applications are widely present in academia and in our daily lives, covering many areas including forecasting electricity consumption in power systems, meteorological rainfall, traffic flow, quantitative trading, risk control in finance, sales operations and price predictions for commercial companies, and pandemic prediction in the medical field. Deep learning-based TSF tasks stand out as one of the most valuable AI scenarios for research, playing an important role in explaining complex real-world phenomena. However, deep learning models still face challenges: they need to deal with the challenge of large-scale data in the information age, achieve longer forecasting ranges, reduce excessively high computational complexity, etc. Therefore, novel methods and more effective solutions are essential. In this paper, we review the latest developments in deep learning for TSF. We begin by introducing the recent development trends in the field of TSF and then propose a new taxonomy from the perspective of deep neural network models, comprehensively covering articles published over the past five years. We also organize commonly used experimental evaluation metrics and datasets. Finally, we point out current issues with the existing solutions and suggest promising future directions in the field of deep learning combined with TSF. This paper aims at evaluating the current state of research into artificial intelligence (AI)-based decision support systems (DSS) for improving construction project sustainability. The literature was systematically reviewed to explore the use of AI in the construction project lifecycle together with the consideration of the economic, environmental, and social goals of sustainability. A total of 2688 research papers were reviewed, and 77 papers were further analyzed, and the major tasks of the DSSs were categorized. Our review results suggest that the main research stream is dedicated to early-stage project prediction (50% of all papers), with artificial neural networks (ANNs) and fuzzy logic (FL) being the most popular AI algorithms in use. Hybrid AI models were used in 46% of all studies. The goal for economic sustainability is the most considered in research, with 87% of all papers considering this goal, and there is evidence given of a trend towards the environmental and social goals of sustainability receiving increasing attention throughout the latter half of the decade. The default scheduler of Apache Hadoop demonstrates operational inefficiencies when connecting external sources and processing transformation jobs. This paper has proposed a novel scheduler for enhancement of the performance of the Hadoop Yet Another Resource Negotiator (YARN) scheduler, called the Adaptive Node and Container Aware Scheduler (ANACRAC), that aligns cluster resources to the demands of the applications in the real world. The approach performs to leverage the user-provided configurations as a unique design to apportion nodes, or containers within the nodes, to application thresholds. Additionally, it provides the flexibility to the applications for selecting and choosing which node's resources they want to manage and adds limits to prevent threshold breaches by adding additional jobs as needed. Node or container awareness can be utilized individually or in combination to increase efficiency. On top of this, the resource availability within the node and containers can also be investigated.This paper also focuses on the elasticity of the containers and self-adaptiveness depending on the job type. The results proved that 15%-20% performance improvement was achieved compared with the node and container awareness feature of the ANACRAC. It has been validated that this ANACRAC scheduler demonstrates a 70%-90% performance improvement compared with the default Fair scheduler. Experimental results also demonstrated the success of the enhancement and a performance improvement in the range of 60% to 200% when applications were connected with external interfaces and high workloads. Until now, the mass spread of fake news and its negative consequences have implied mainly textual content towards a loss of citizens' trust in institutions. Recently, a new type of machine learning framework has arisen, Generative Adversarial Networks(GANs) – a class of deep neural network models capable of creating multimedia content (photos, videos, audio) that simulate accurate content with extreme precision. While there are several areas of worthwhile application of GANs – e.g., in the field of audio-visual production, human-computer interactions, satire, and artistic creativity – their deceptive uses, at least as currently foreseeable, are just as numerous and worrying. The main concern is linked to the so-called “deepfakes”, fake images or videos that simulate real events with extreme precision. When trained on a human face, GANs can make the face assume hyper-realistic movements, expressions and (verbal and non-verbal) communication abilities. This technology poses an urgent threat to the governance of democratic processes concerning the production of public opinions and political discourses, with significant potential for reality-altering and disinformation. After a short introduction of their current technical state-of-the-art, in this paper, we want to enquire about the GANs` socio-technical system alongside different and intertwined philosophical accounts. Firstly, we will argue about the conditions that make perceived GANs-generated content trustworthy, arguing also about the general effects GANs might have on the perceived trustworthiness of individuals. Thereafter, we will discuss about the inadequacy to approach GANs only as perception-altering technology. Against this backdrop, we will propose a theoretical turn that considers the human-machine relationships of trustworthiness as elements of broader hybrid socio-technical systems. With the rapid growth in the proportion of renewable energy access and the structural complexity of distributed energy systems, traditional microgrid (MG) scheduling methods that rely on mathematical optimization models and expert experience are facing significant challenges. Therefore, it is essential to present a novel scheduling technique with high intelligence and fast decision-making capacity to realize MGs' automatic operation and regulation. This paper proposes an optimal scheduling decision-making method for MGs based on deep neural networks (DNN). Firstly, a typical mathematical scheduling model used for MG operation is introduced, and the limitations of current methods are analyzed. Then, a two-stage optimal scheduling framework comprising day-ahead and intra-day stages is presented. The day-ahead part is solved by mixed integer linear programming (MILP), and the intra-day part uses a convolutional neural network (CNN)—bidirectional long short-term memory (Bi LSTM) for high-speed rolling decision making, with the outputs adjusted by a power correction balance algorithm. Surface transportation has evolved through technology advancements using parallel knowledge areas such as machine learning (ML). However, the transportation industry has not yet taken full advantage of ML. To evaluate this gap, we utilized a literature review approach to locate, categorize, and synthesize the principal concepts of research papers regarding surface transportation systems using ML algorithms, and we then decomposed them into their fundamental elements. We explored more than 100 articles, literature review papers, and books. The results show that 74% of the papers concentrate on forecasting, while multilayer perceptions, long short-term memory, random forest, supporting vector machine, XGBoost, and deep convolutional neural networks are the most preferred ML algorithms. However, sophisticated ML algorithms have been minimally used. The root-cause analysis revealed a lack of effective collaboration between the ML and transportation experts, resulting in the most accessible transportation applications being used as a case study to test or enhance a given ML algorithm and not necessarily to enhance a mobility or safety issue. Additionally, the transportation community does not define transportation issues clearly and does not provide publicly available transportation datasets. The transportation sector must offer an open-source platform to showcase the sector's concerns and build spatiotemporal datasets for ML experts to accelerate technology advancements. Point-of-interest (POI) recommendation has attracted great attention in the field of recommender systems over the past decade. Various techniques, such as those based on matrix factorization and deep neural networks, have demonstrated outstanding performance. However, these methods are susceptible to the impact of data sparsity. Data sparsity is a significant characteristic of POI recommendation, where some POIs have limited interaction records and, in extreme cases, become cold-start POIs with no interaction history. To alleviate the influence of data sparsity on model performance, this paper introduced FAGRec, a POI-recommendation model based on the feature-aware graph. The key idea was to construct an interaction graph between POIs and their initial features. This allows the transformation of POI features into a weighted aggregation of initial features. Different POIs can share the learned representations of initial features, thereby mitigating the issue of data sparsity. Furthermore, we proposed attention-based graph neural networks and a user preference estimation method based on delayed time factors for learning representations of POIs and users, contributing to the generation of recommendations. Eye health has become a global health concern and attracted broad attention. Over the years, researchers have proposed many state‐of‐the‐art convolutional neural networks (CNNs) to assist ophthalmologists in diagnosing ocular diseases efficiently and precisely. However, most existing methods were dedicated to constructing sophisticated CNNs, inevitably ignoring the trade‐off between performance and model complexity. To alleviate this paradox, this paper proposes a lightweight yet efficient network architecture, mixed‐decomposed convolutional network (MDNet), to recognise ocular diseases. In MDNet, we introduce a novel mixed‐decomposed depthwise convolution method, which takes advantage of depthwise convolution and depthwise dilated convolution operations to capture low‐resolution and high‐resolution patterns by using fewer computations and fewer parameters. We conduct extensive experiments on the clinical anterior segment optical coherence tomography (AS‐OCT), LAG, University of California San Diego, and CIFAR‐100 datasets. The results show our MDNet achieves a better trade‐off between the performance and model complexity than efficient CNNs including MobileNets and MixNets. Specifically, our MDNet outperforms MobileNets by 2.5% of accuracy by using 22% fewer parameters and 30% fewer computations on the AS‐OCT dataset. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Predicting bankruptcy within selected industries is crucial because of the potential ripple effects and unique characteristics of those industries. It serves as a risk management tool, guiding various stakeholders in making decisions. While artificial intelligence (AI) has shown high success rates in classification tasks, it remains uncertain whether its use significantly enhances the potential for early warning of impending problems. The following question arises: will classical methods eventually replace the effectiveness of these advanced techniques? This paper sheds light on the fact that even classical methods continue to achieve results that are not far behind, highlighting their enduring importance in financial analysis. This paper aims to develop bankruptcy prediction models for the chemical industry in Slovakia and to compare their effectiveness. Predictions are generated using the classical logistic regression (LR) method as well as AI techniques, artificial neural networks (ANNs), support vector machines (SVMs), and decision trees (DTs). The analysis aims to determine which of the employed methods is the most efficient. The research sample consists of circa 600 enterprises operating in the Slovak chemical industry. The selection of eleven financial indicators used for bankruptcy prediction was grounded in prior research and existing literature. The results show that all of the explored methods yielded highly similar outcomes. Therefore, determining the clear superiority of any single method is a difficult task. This might be partially due to the potentially reduced quality of the input data. In addition to classical statistical methods employed in econometrics, there is an ongoing development of AI-based models and their hybrid forms. This systematic review focuses on the critical role of innovative technologies and digitalization, particularly artificial intelligence (AI), in urban planning through geo-design, aiming to enhance urban life. It begins with exploring the importance of AI and digital tools in revolutionizing contemporary urban planning practices. Through the methodology based on the Systematic Reviews and Meta-Analyses (PRISMA) protocol, this review sifts through relevant literature over the past two decades by categorizing artificial intelligence technologies based on their functionalities. These technologies are examined for their utility in urban planning, environmental modeling, and infrastructure development, highlighting how they contribute to creating smarter and more livable cities. For instance, machine learning techniques like supervised learning excel in forecasting urban trends, whereas artificial neural networks and deep learning are superior in pattern recognition and vital for environmental modeling. This analysis, which refers to the comprehensive evaluation conducted in this Systematic Review, encompasses studies based on diverse data inputs and domains of application, revealing a trend toward leveraging AI for predictive analytics, decision-making improvements, and the automation of complex geospatial tasks in urban areas. The paper also addresses the challenges encountered, including data privacy, ethical issues, and the demand for cross-disciplinary knowledge. The concluding remarks emphasize the transformative potential of innovative technologies and digitalization in urban planning, advocating for their role in fostering better urban life. It also identifies future research avenues and development opportunities. In light of our review findings, this study concludes that AI technologies indeed hold transformative promise for the field of geo-design and urban planning. Reservoir computing (RC) systems can efficiently forecast chaotic time series using the nonlinear dynamical properties of an artificial neural network of random connections. The versatility of RC systems has motivated further research on both hardware counterparts of traditional RC algorithms and more-efficient RC-like schemes. Inspired by the nonlinear processes in a living biological brain and using solitary waves excited on the surface of a flowing liquid film, in this paper, we experimentally validated a physical RC system that substitutes the effect of randomness that underpins the operation of the traditional RC algorithm for a nonlinear transformation of input data. Carrying out all operations using a microcontroller with minimal computational power, we demonstrate that the so-designed RC system serves as a technically simple hardware counterpart to the 'next-generation' improvement of the traditional RC algorithm.
