Innovative learning media are very important in supporting the learning process, including learning Arabic. Therefore, this study aims to develop video media for learning speaking skills as a medium for learning speaking skills for seventh grade students at MTS Negeri 39 Jakarta. The research was conducted using the Research and Development (R&D) method with the ADDIE model (Analyze, Design, Development, Implementation, and Evaluate). The stages carried out in the research were: (1) analyzing the needs of seventh grade students for Arabic learning video media; (2) designing products; (3) developing products through assessments from material experts and media experts; (4) implementing products directly to students; and (5) evaluating products through a questionnaire given to 30 students in seventh grade. The results of the study showed that: 1) Based on the needs analysis of 30 students, it was found that 93% of students expressed interest in and needed Arabic learning video media. 2) Based on the results of the questionnaire distributed to experts, the average score for the material category was 80%, which was included in the "very eligible" category. The media category received 96%, which also included the categories "very feasible" and 3) Based on the evaluation given by the students, an average score of 85% was obtained, which was included in the "very eligible" group. Thus, this Arabic language learning video medium is feasible to be used as an Arabic learning medium, especially in distance learning, so that it can have implications for supporting the student learning process. The occurrence of disasters in certain areas resulted in drastic changes in the lives of the affected communities. It also has an impact on learning process which may not work properly. Damage to learning infrastructure, loss of student interest and motivation, and limited human resources after a disaster may be the factors that determine how quickly the community can rise up and recover from this situation. This study aims to create an adaptive post-disaster learning model that can be used to maintain the learning process optimally. The study employed qualitative research method with a research and development model. Observation activities, semi-structured interviews, and focus group discussions were conducted on a group of respondents consistent with the characteristics of the study. The results show that the post-disaster learning model should focus on existing resources in evacuee camps (local wisdom). This learning model can be achieved through optimizing existing teaching materials in the affected areas or by carrying out social fun activities while maintaining the achievement of learner's competence in certain subjects. Thus, this study provides an initial framework for explaining a suitable learning model that can be used in disaster-stricken areas.

There is concern internationally that socio-economic class and ethnicity remain the most significant predictors of outcomes in mathematics; performance is often largely dependent on family income and level of parental education. Consequently the influence of pupils' socio-economic backgrounds remains a major challenge to those of us in the field concerned with achieving equitable education. However, the ways in which socio-economic factors play out in different parts of the world subject to different political systems and structures, remains unclear. In this paper we present an analysis of mathematics achievement in Penang to offer a localized perspective on the ways in which socio-economic status and ethnicity affect achievement. This study investigated the collaboration of five science teacher leaders in a vertical group, supported by a grant-funded teacher leadership professional development program. It utilized video artifacts of teaching and transcriptions of collaborative meetings to answer the following research question: What happens when science teachers in a teacher leadership professional development program collaboratively examine their teaching in a vertical community of practice? Three themes emerged from the data: (a) Participating in a pseudo community, (b) Emergent versus actual problem of practice discussions, and (c) exploration of practice through reflection, deepening pedagogical content knowledge, and facilitating vertical articulation. Collectively, these themes demonstrate the essence of being an effective teacher leader and importance of a critical friend to engage in authentic discussions around practice and be self-reflective toward instructional improvement.

5G mobile networks will soon be available to handle all types of applications and to provide services to massive numbers of users. In this complex and dynamic network ecosystem, an end-to-end performance analysis and optimisation will be "key" features to effectively manage the diverse requirements imposed by multiple vertical industries over the same shared infrastructure. To enable such a challenging vision, the MARSAL EU-funded project (MARSAL, 2021) targets the development and evaluation of a complete framework for the management and orchestration of network resources in 5G and beyond by utilizing a converged optical-wireless network infrastructure in the access and fronthaul/midhaul segments. The usage of artificial weathering as an alternative to showing weathering effect with a rapid result has been recognized since 1940. One of the famous artificial weathering machines was QUV Accelerated Weathering Tester which can stimulate sun rays, rain and condensation with UV lights and water spray. This research was aimed to investigate the effects of weathering on the withdrawal performance of dowelled timber connection made from Merbau and Chengal species. The characteristics tested in this study are for dowel materials made of wood and steel. Two sets of blocks of Merbau and Chengal embedded with dowel made from wood and steel were tested using a withdrawal test. Half of the samples undergo artificial weathering using QUV Accelerated Weathering Tester for 672 hours (a month), which is approximately equal to 7 months. The significant findings of this paper were that wood connected with steel dowel has a higher withdrawal capacity than connected with the wood dowel. It demonstrates that the type of dowel significantly affects the withdrawal performance. It is proven that there was a statistical interaction between weathering conditions and dowel type. The proposed presentation describes 20 prospective teachers' (PTs) experience developing culturally responsive mathematics lessons in their middle school mathematics methods course. One mathematics teacher educator guided the PTs in developing and implementing lessons as they engaged in micro-teaching episodes. During Spring 2020, Fall 2020 and Spring 2021 semesters, the PTs engaged in micro-teaching guided by the lesson analysis tool developed by Aguirre and Zavalla (2013) to make culturally responsive mathematics teaching (CRMT) explicit. Engagement in the activity allowed the PTs to learn about developing and implementing lessons that are mathematically rigorous as well as sensitive to social justice issues. We argue that playing board games provides crucial experiences for developing logical and spatial reasoning. Drawing on Dewey, growth in spatial and logical reasoning requires the accumulation of sufficient experiences in action. Our design-based research involving Grade 4-6 students playing Qwirkle weekly revealed their significant improvement using three key tile arrangements that contributed to strategic play. We investigated preservice mathematics teachers' engagement in virtual collaboration on geometry tasks. In online synchronous classroom environments, PSTs collectively explored four different transformations on Desmos applets and created written descriptions and exemplary figures to describe the mathematics behind each transformation. We analyzed video recordings of the online group discussion and identified emerging group actions mediated by technology, which demonstrated social and mathematical aspects of collaboration. The design features of the task (e.g., setting group norms, co-constructing deliverables) and the technological features of the virtual workspace (e.g., dynamic geometry, shared screen, shared presentation) fostered students exchanging ideas and engaging in sense-making. When planning professional development (PD) for adjunct instructors the PD developers should be mindful of the diverse experiences and needs of adjunct instructors. Developing PD that is one-size-fits-all may not work for all adjunct instructors. In this study the diversity of 3 adjunct instructors’ experiences is highlighted prior to and in the initial stages of implementing a new research-based Precalculus curriculum. Production and use of plastic to meet the demand of modern life has escalated at an alarming rate in Bangladesh. This study focuses on the analysis of waste and pollutants data to estimate the plastic waste load and its potential to affect public health. At present the plastic industry size of Bangladesh is around US$3 billion with per capita consumption of 8 kg per year. This in turn generating 336,000 tons of plastic waste of which around 70% are recycled through formal and informal process and 17,000 tons are ending up in the landfill per year. Most of these processes produce pollutants that directly affect human health. Moreover, a sizable portion of plastic ends in water bodies where the plastics break down to microplastic and are eaten by fishes along with the additives. Fisheries are regular business in the country and fish is the major source of protein for the people. In 2016, aquaculture production of the country was 2.06 million tons with wild capture production of 1.02 million tons. The present per capita fish consumption in the country is around 62.58 grams per day. The microplastic ending in the tissue of fishes has serious health consequences if consumed regularly. The situation warrants community engagement in plastic waste management as well as strong legal enforcements along with building the institutional capacity for properly admitting the problems to protect the environment and public health. Smoking rates in the US have consistently declined over recent decades, with current trends showing some of the lowest documented initiation rates among teens. Social approval rates for smoking have also declined, the product of legal restrictions on use and advertising, as well as the impact of various public health campaigns. These social interventions and long term declines would seem to spell economic decline for the nicotine addiction industry. However, current survey data shows a sharp increase in e-cigarette use among adolescents contrasting with their abstention from traditional means of nicotine consumption. The sudden rise of vaping is concurrent with the cohort specific rates of regular snapchat use and therefor, exposure to undeclared advertising in social media platforms (astro-turf and paid social influencers). We investigate the role of social media, and especially snapchat in the social learning processes that shape young people's awareness of vaping, their attitudes, and behaviors. Through multiple regression and path analysis we hope to learn how demographic, use factors (flavors), media exposure and social influence combine to best explain the rapid rise of this new nicotine addiction pathway. Do the data show a moderating effect of vaping related snapchat communication among adolescents? What role does vaping related interaction on social media play in creating positive perceptions and making use more appealing, seemingly innocuous and a symbol of smartness among users? Additionally, we are concerned that highly differentiated social media use patterns across cohorts may be leading to social and cultural blind spots, that in turn, can be exploited by monetized manipulations of socially embedded perceptions. This report shares the initial results from research of a model designed to support Precalculus adjunct instructors. The model is based on the organization and coordination of Precalculus along with sustained professional development in the form of a professional learning community. Bangladesh has recently been elevated to lower-middle income country and it has set its target to become a middle income country by 2021. Since 2009 the country is running a 'Digital Bangladesh' campaign where ICT has a key role. The number of population is ever increasing with a growth rate of 1.37 per annum. These factors are escalating the demand and use of electronic products, which ultimately contributes more e-waste. In the last five years, only the number of mobile phone users has increased by 45 million from 87 million in 2011. Total amount of e-waste in the country was around 5.1 million tons in 2011-12 which grew to 11 million tons in just two years. The 'National 3R Strategy for Waste Management' calls for regulation of e-waste recycling due to the presence of hazardous constituents. However, initiatives and interventions for such enforcement are hardly prevailing. Absence of proper management of these e-wastes poses a serious threat to environment and public health. The main purpose of this study is to find the awareness level as well as the determinants of awareness on HIV/AIDS among the garments workers in Dhaka City, Bangladesh. To do so, 200 garments workers were interviewed through a structured questionnaire using purposive sampling technique. As the statistical tools, Univariate analysis was completed to figure out frequency distribution and the binary logistic regression model was used to predict the probability occurrence of the events by fitting data. The results revealed that the majority of the garments workers (63.5%) are very young (18-27 years), almost all (97.5%) are literate and most of them (57.0%) used contraceptives. Importantly, most of the respondents (64.0%) had not participated in any type of seminar or workshop related to HIV/AIDS, though almost all the respondents (84.5%) know HIV is a dangerous and life threatening disease. The logistic regression model identified that respondents' education, contraceptive usage, mass media and HIV workshops have statistically significant positive effects on HIV/AIDS awareness. Health care sector in Bangladesh has been metamorphosed to service based business sector very recently. Foreign and local entrepreneurs are investing millions of dollars in this sector and the number of health care establishments is growing increasingly but waste management is getting impromptu attention. Only a few percentages of health care establishments do segregation for proper management of hazardous portion. Through there is a health care waste management project running in some part of Dhaka and Khulna cities but wastes are not managed and treated up to the satisfactory level in many cases. The treatment site of the project is likely to have undesirable environmental effect. The stealing of wastes has not been totally stopped from the health care establishments and there is a strong probability of reusing those used items. It is stark clear that the management practice does not seem to improve unless a well synthesized law concerning health care waste management is being enacted. This study aims to explore the present health care waste management issues in Bangladesh with particular attention to Dhaka city with special concentration on the growth pattern of health care establishments, waste generation and waste management practices. Hunger and chronic undernourishment impact over 800 million people, which translates to ~10.7% of the world's population. While countries are increasingly making efforts to reduce poverty and hunger by pursuing sustainable energy and agricultural practices, a third of the food produced around the globe still is wasted and never consumed. Reducing food shortages is vital in this effort and is often addressed by the development of genetically modified produce or chemical additives and inedible coatings, which create additional health and environmental concerns. I will discuss on development of a multifunctional bio-nanocomposite comprised largely of egg-derived polymers and cellulose nanomaterials as a conformal coating onto fresh produce that slows down food decay by retarding ripening, dehydration, and microbial invasion. The coating is edible, washable, and made from readily available inexpensive or waste materials, which makes it a promising economic alternative to commercially available fruit coatings and a solution to combat food wastage that is rampant in the world. This paper examines the expansion of the real estate sector in India to highlight the social process of commensuration which structures this sector as a market that is attractive to foreign direct investment. We argue that commensuration, consisting of a social process by which dissimilar objects are rendered comparable or understood by a common measure, is an important manner in which real estate markets in emerging markets are made amenable to foreign investment. We suggest that such a process involves heterogeneous group of actors including the state, foreign investors, developers and real estate agencies. We focus specifically on two dimensions of commensuration consisting of the creation of tradable real estate portfolios containing properties and analytical discourses about potential growth in the demand of residential, retail and office real estate. Background. Sexual minorities experience excess psychological ill health globally, yet the UK data exploring reasons for poor mental health among sexual minorities is lacking. This study compares the prevalence of a measure of well-being, symptoms of common mental disorder (CMD), lifetime suicidal ideation, harmful alcohol and drug use among inner city non-heterosexual and heterosexual individuals. It is the first UK study which aims to quantify how much major, everyday and anticipated discrimination; lifetime and childhood trauma; and coping strategies for dealing with unfair treatment, predict excess mental ill health among non-heterosexuals. Further, inner city and national outcomes are compared. Methods. Self-report survey data came from the South East London Community Health study (N = 1052) and the Adult Psychiatric Morbidity Survey (N = 7403). Results. Adjustments for greater exposure to measured experiences of discrimination and lifetime and childhood trauma had a small to moderate impact on effect sizes for adverse health outcomes though in fully adjusted models, non-heterosexual orientation remained strongly associated with CMD, lifetime suicidal ideation, harmful alcohol and drug use. There was limited support for the hypothesis that measured coping strategies might mediate some of these associations. The inner city sample had poorer mental health overall compared with the national sample and the discrepancy was larger for non-heterosexuals than heterosexuals. Conclusions. Childhood and adult adversity substantially influence but do not account for sexual orientation-related mental health disparities. Longitudinal work taking a life course approach with more specific measures of discrimination and coping is required to further understand these associations. The article discusses research which explored the derivation of interaction diagrams for piles used as foundation elements for support structures of offshore wind energy converters (OWEC) under cyclic axial loading by numerical method. Topics discussed include an overview of previous studies of the behavior of piles under axial cyclic loading and use of a finite element program to examine the behavior of a pile of sandy soil.

King County operates its only active Cedar Hills Regional Landfill (CHRLF) that receives more than 800,000 tons of solid waste annually from 37 cities in the County. County management has adopted several strategic approaches to extend the life of the landfill by maximizing the landfill air space capacity through innovative design alternatives and improved operational practices. Landfill designers and operators at the CHRLF are using such techniques as higher compaction of refuse, reduction in the use of cover materials, disposal of select types of refuse, use of tippers instead of walking floor trailers, and reduction in the use of gravel materials etc. to maximize air space utilization and prolong the life of the landfill cells. These techniques also result in increased Landfill Airspace Density (LAD) which is used for evaluating landfill operating performance and tracking efficient utilization of the air space. This paper has reviewed the LAD achieved over the years and how air space has been managed at CHRLF. Changes in operating practices at CHRLF have resulted in improving LAD from about 1200 lbs/cubic yards (CY) in the 1990s to 1900 lbs/cy recently. Use of soil materials has been reduced from 0.30 CY to 0.17 CY per ton of waste. Quarterly consumption of gravel/rock materials has been reduced from 14,000 CY to almost zero. Soil surcharging in the closed areas has provided placeholder for soil stockpiling but also has achieved differential settlement ranging from 2 ft to 12 ft a year. Adoption of alternative cover design, including exposed geomembrane cover system will reduce the use of scarce select fill materials and save about 2 to 3 ft of air space for approximately 100 acres of interim closed landfill area. In addition, several other techniques are also being used to improve refuse density, increase compaction, increase settlement rate, increase refuse decomposition rate, and reduce soil and rock material use. Most medical datasets are not balanced in their class labels. Indeed in some cases it has been noticed that the given class labels do not accurately represent characteristics of the data record. Most existing classification methods tend not to perform well on minority class examples when the dataset is extremely imbalanced. This is because they aim to optimize the overall accuracy without considering the relative distribution of each class. In this paper we propose a cluster based under sampling technique that solves the class imbalance problem for our cardiovascular data. It shows significant better performance than existing methods. The article discusses a study which investigated the behavior of piles under cyclic horizontal loading and offered recommendations for practical design. Monopiles and tripod or jacket structures are the preferred foundation solutions for offshore wind energy converters in the North Sea and the Baltic Sea in Europe. The researchers also presented methods to account for cyclic load effects in the design.

Asthma is a chronic inflammatory lung disease. Globally Asthma is major public health problem due to its incurable nature and misdiagnosis. In this research paper our work is concerned with the intelligent diagnosis of the severity of the Asthma disease. An automated system has been developed using a self-organizing fuzzy rule-based system. It utilizes the intrinsic ability to deal with the uncertainty and rejects the dealing of add-on mechanisms with imperfect data. Five symptoms have been taken (DSF (Day time symptoms frequency) and NSF (Night time symptoms frequency) PEFR (Peak Expiratory Flow Rate), PEFR variability and SaO2 (Saturation of oxygen) as input and one output for the decision of the asthmatic conditions. For designing of fuzzy inference system rule base play major role in its performance and fine tuning process optimizes the membership functions stored in the data base. The television medium has occupied a dominant place in Bangladesh and TV news has become one of the most popular TV shows. With the unprecedented expansion of the television industry and a rise of market-oriented journalism (MOJ), questions are being raised about the credibility of TV news that have not been investigated, especially in the context of developing countries. This paper examines the theoretical relationship between market-oriented journalism and credibility of TV news, leading to an empirical study. Three factors of MOJ including independence, social role, and objectivity were analyzed using frequency distributions. The findings suggest that there is a relationship between market-oriented journalism and credibility of TV news. Penetration is the basic element of designing protective concrete structure against the local impact of hard projectile. Vital structures such as nuclear plants, power plants, weapon industries, weapons storage places, water retaining structures like dams, local industries, highway barriers & etc., have to be designed as self-protective structures in order to resist natural disaster, consciously engendered unpleasant incidents, or/and against accidently occur incidents in nuclear plants, local industries etc., (kinetic impact generated by dynamic loading and etc.). Critical impact energy is the dominant cause of penetration in concrete structures. Therefore, it is vital to study critical impact energy that causes penetration. An analytical model is developed to predict the required critical impact energy for spalling and maximum penetration without rear effects in concrete slabs when it is impacted with ogive nose hard projectile. The newly developed analytical model is examined for CRH =2.0, 3.0 and 4.25. It was found that the predicted results from analytical model are in close relation with experimental data with less than (8%) and (17%) error in case of CRH =2.0, 3.0, and 4.25. Furthermore, a nose shape factor (Ni) with introduction of empirical frictional factor (Nf) in Chen and Li nose shape (N*) is proposed. It was found that the predicted results from analytical model with nose shape (Ni) are in close relation with experimental data with less than (17%) error in all cases as compared to predicted results with traditional Li and Chen nose shape (N*). In general, the analytical model generates encouraging prediction which is consistent and follows a general trend of experimental results. This paper investigates the optimization of biodegradation of DWTP sludge by mixed strains of selected Fungi using response surface methodology (RSM). Three numerical factors of aeration rates (vvm), and mixing rate (rpm) with three levels was carried out to evaluate the linear and interaction effects on effective biodegradation of DWTP sludge. The experimental data on chemical oxygen demand (COD) removal (%) were fitted into a quadratic polynomial model using multiple regression analysis with Design Expert software. 3-level factorial design technique under RSM was used to optimize their interactions, which showed that The optimum aeration rate (vvm) and mixing rate (rpm) were observed to be (0 vvm), and (10 pm), respectively to obtain maximum predicted COD response of 98.7% in fungal treated sludge by LSB under natural conditions in pilot scale. This paper highlights the improved Adaptive Tumbling Bacterial Foraging Optimization (ATBFO) to grant better solution particularly in emission economic power dispatch issue. The proposed methodology simply takes care in solving non-convex power system issues along maintaining the requirement of all equipped constraints for healthy power delivery operation. The performances are evaluated with different recent computational routine identified as the faster Evolutionary Programming (Meta-EP) in order to choose a leader in getting the minimal single objective function. Missing value imputation is one of the biggest tasks of data pre-processing when performing data mining. Most medical datasets are usually incomplete. Simply removing the cases from the original datasets can bring more problems than solutions. A suitable method for missing value imputation can help to produce good quality datasets for better analysing clinical trials. In this paper we explore the use of a machine learning technique as a missing value imputation method for incomplete cardiovascular data. Mean/mode imputation, fuzzy unordered rule induction algorithm imputation, decision tree imputation and other machine learning algorithms are used as missing value imputation and the final datasets are classified using K-Mean clustering.
