Team score orienteering, a challenging and interesting sport, is gradually becoming known by the majority of sports enthusiasts. Integrating team score orienteering with the Internet can enhance the interactive experience for athletes. However, this integration increases the risk of the leakage of the athletes' information. In order to protect the privacy of athletes, it is necessary to employ encryption. Therefore, this paper proposes an efficient lattice-based revocable certificateless public key encryption (RCL-PKE) scheme with decryption key exposure resistance (DKER). The adoption of certificateless encryption not only avoids the complex certificate management required for traditional public key encryption, but also addresses the key escrow problem of identity-based encryption, thereby significantly ensuring data security and privacy. Furthermore, the revocable mechanism enables the organizing committee to flexibly manage the athletes' qualification for competitions, and DKER can effectively prevent the leakage of decryption keys, which further enhances data security. The constructed RCL-PKE scheme was proven to be IND-CPA secure under the learning with errors (LWE) assumption. Numerous organizational researchers have acknowledged that COVID-19 reduced the profit in the tourism industry. Some tourism firms decreased the cost by reducing the investment of CSR in order to increase the profit. However, the relevant literature remains scarce. The main purpose of this study is to explore the effect of COVID-19 on CSR investment in the tourism industry. This study fills the gap between stakeholder and cost stickiness theories. Based on a quasi-experiment of listed Chinese tourism companies from 2017 to 2021, the study finds that COVID-19 caused tourism firms to increase strategic CSR and decrease a responsive one. In addition, tourism firms that adopted cost leadership strategies trimmed responsive CSR more than strategic CSR. Tourism firms with differentiation leadership strategies increased strategic and decreased responsive CSR. Tourism firms with higher levels of political connections increased responsive CSR, while tourism firms with higher organizational resilience increased strategic CSR. At the theoretical level, this study reveals the theoretical mechanism of COVID-19 on tourism firms' adjustment of CSR from the perspective of cost stickiness. The Changchun Observatory of the National Astronomical Observatories, Chinese Academy of Sciences, and the Shanghai Astronomical Observatory are used to generate very short arc (VSA) angle observations of objects in low Earth orbit (LEO) and geostationary orbit (GEO) with their ground-based electrical–optical telescope arrays (EA), the Changchun EA and SAO FocusGEO, respectively. These observations are used in this paper. The range-searching (RS) algorithm for initial orbit determination (IOD) is improved through the multiple combinations of observations and the dynamic range-searching step length. Two different computation modes (the normal mode and the refining mode) of the IOD computation process are proposed. The geometrical method for the association is used. The IOD and association methods are extended to the real optical observations for both LEO and GEO objects. The results show that the IOD success rate of arcs from the LEO objects is about 91%, the error of the semimajor axis (SMA) of the initial orbital elements is less than 50 km, and the correlation accuracy rate is about 89%. The IOD success rate of arcs from the GEO objects is higher than 88%, and the correlation accuracy rate is greater than 87%. The recent COSMOS 1408 antisatellite test (ASAT) generated a large amount of debris. The algorithm of this paper and the observations of Changchun EA are used to initially identify new debris, possibly from the ASAT through initial orbit determination and track association. Finally, 64 suspected new pieces of debris can be found. To better regulate the speed of diesel engines and optimize the speed overshoot and fast response, a speed control method combining the improved salp swarm algorithm (ISSA) with the proportional integral and differential (PID) controller was proposed. A real-time simulation model for a high-pressure common rail diesel engine was established. Addressing the challenges of the salp swarm algorithm (SSA), such as uneven population distribution and its tendency to become trapped in local optima, logistic-tent chaotic mapping, adaptive parameters was introduced, as well as adaptive dynamic inertia weights, elite strategy, and a dynamic inverse strategy. These enhancements bolstered the algorithm's precision and efficiency in both global and local searches. Using the enhanced SSA, the parameters of the PID controller for the diesel engine model was optimized. The results indicated that the ISSA offers superior parameter identification precision, strengthening speed control stability. During sudden changes in speed and load, the overshoot decreased by an average of more than 30.3% and more than 8.6%, respectively. Moreover, the settling time decreased by an average of more than 0.76 s and 1.52 s, respectively, significantly enhancing the quality of diesel engine speed control. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

In many universities, students' physical ability data are collected and stored in the cloud through various sensing devices to save computational and storage costs. Therefore, how to effectively access data while ensuring data security has become an urgent issue. Key-policy attribute-based encryption (KP-ABE) not only enables secure one-to-many communication and fine-grained access control but also adapts to data sharing in static scenarios, making it more suitable for the cloud sharing of physical ability data. In this paper, we construct an online/offline multi-authority key-policy attribute-based encryption with a cryptographic reverse firewall for physical ability data. This scheme uses multi-authority to avoid the single point of failure crisis of a single authority, and is combined with a cryptographic reverse firewall to resist backdoor attacks. In addition, the scheme uses outsourcing decryption to save users' computing costs, and utilizes offline/online technology to move a large amount of computing offline, reducing the online burden. Cross-interference is not only an important factor that affects the measuring accuracy of three-dimensional force sensors, but also a technical difficulty in three-dimensional force sensor design. In this paper, a cross-interference suppression method is proposed, based on the octagonal ring's structural symmetry as well as Wheatstone bridge's balance principle. Then, three-dimensional force sensors are developed and tested to verify the feasibility of the proposed method. Experimental results show that the proposed method is effective in cross-interference suppression, and the optimal cross-interference error of the developed sensors is 1.03%. By optimizing the positioning error, angle deviation, and bonding process of strain gauges, the cross-interference error of the sensor can be further reduced to −0.36%. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Urbanization has led to rapid growth in energy consumption and CO2 emissions in the building sector. Building operation emissions (BCEs) are a major part of emissions in the building life cycle. Existing studies have attempted to estimate fine-scale BCEs using remote sensing data. However, there is still a lack of research on estimating long-term BCEs by integrating multi-source remote sensing data and applications in different regions. We selected the Beijing–Tianjin–Hebei (BTH) urban agglomeration and the National Capital Region of Japan (NCRJ) as research areas for this study. We also built multiple linear regression (MLR) models between prefecture-level BCEs and multi-source remote sensing data. The prefecture-level BCEs were downscaled to grid scale at a 1 km2 resolution. The estimation results verify the method's difference and accuracy at different development stages. The multi-scale BCEs showed a continuous growth trend in the BTH urban agglomeration and a significant downward trend in the NCRJ. The decrease in energy intensity and population density were the main factors contributing to the negative growth of BCEs, whereas GDP per capita and urban expansion significantly promoted it. While Buddhist teachings deny the presence of a stable, unchanging self, they must still make sense of human agency. In this article, I look through metaphors of mechanical men in Buddhist literature, which inform us of attempts to tackle the problem by resorting to figurative speech. With a selection of examples, we shall see not only a basic rationale of these metaphors, as well as the dynamics of their usage in Buddhist texts against different doctrinal backgrounds, but also their meta-philosophical role in penetrating through the agent-oriented "universe of discourse". Due to material plastic deformation and current leakage at high temperatures, SOI (silicon-on-insulator) and SOS (silicon-on-sapphire) pressure sensors have difficulty working over 500 °C. Silicon carbide (SiC) is a promising sensor material to solve this problem because of its stable mechanical and electrical properties at high temperatures. However, SiC is difficult to process which hinders its application as a high-temperature pressure sensor. This study proposes a piezoresistive SiC pressure sensor fabrication method to overcome the difficulties in SiC processing, especially deep etching. The sensor was processed by a combination of ICP (inductive coupled plasma) dry etching, high-temperature rapid annealing and femtosecond laser deep etching. Static and dynamic calibration tests show that the accuracy error of the fabricated sensor can reach 0.33%FS, and the dynamic signal response time is 1.2 μs. High and low temperature test results show that the developed sensor is able to work at temperatures from −50 °C to 600 °C, which demonstrates the feasibility of the proposed sensor fabrication method. Pulmonary arterial hypertension (PAH) is a progressive and inevitably fatal disease characterized by the progressive increase of pulmonary vascular resistance and obliterative pulmonary vascular remodeling, which lead to right-sided heart failure and premature death. Many of the genetically modified mouse models do not develop severe PH and occlusive vascular remodeling. Egln1Tie2Cre mice with Tie2Cre-mediated deletion of Egln1, which encodes hypoxia-inducible factor (HIF) prolyl hydroxylase 2 (PHD2), is the only mouse model with severe PAH, progressive occlusive pulmonary vascular remodeling, and right-sided heart failure leading to 50–80% mortality from the age of 3–6 months, indicating that the Egln1Tie2Cre mice model is a long-sought-after murine PAH model. However, it is unknown if Egln1Tie2Cre mice respond to FDA-approved PAH drugs in a way similar to PAH patients. Here, we tested the therapeutic effects of the three vasodilators: sildenafil (targeting nitric oxide signaling), ambrisentan (endothelin receptor antagonist), and treprostinil (prostacyclin analog) on Egln1Tie2Cre mice. All of them attenuated right ventricular systolic pressure (RVSP) in Egln1Tie2Cre mice consistent with their role as vasodilators. However, these drugs have no beneficial effects on pulmonary arterial function. Cardiac output was also markedly improved in Egln1Tie2Cre mice by any of the drug treatments. They only partially improved RV function and reduced RV hypertrophy and pulmonary vascular remodeling as well as improving short-term survival in a drug-dependent manner. These data demonstrate that Egln1Tie2Cre mice exhibit similar responses to these drugs as PAH patients seen in clinical trials. Thus, our study provides further evidence that the Egln1Tie2Cre mouse model of severe PAH is an ideal model of PAH and is potentially useful for enabling identification of drug targets and preclinical testing of novel PAH drug candidates. Femtosecond laser ablation has become one of the important structural processing methods for the third-generation semiconductor material, silicon carbide (SiC), and it is gradually being employed in the manufacture of microelectromechanical systems and microelectronic devices. Experimental study has been performed on infrared single and multiple pulses (1035 nm) femtosecond laser ablation of SiC at various processing parameters. Diameters of laser ablation spots on 4H-SiC were measured to estimate the absorption threshold for material modification and structural transformation, which were 2.35 J/cm2 and 4.97 J/cm2, respectively. In the multiple-pulse scribing ablation for microgrooves, the ablation threshold dropped to 0.70 J/cm2 due to the accumulation effect when the effective pulse number reached 720. The calculated average of the thermally stimulated ablation depth of 4H-SiC is 22.4 nm, which gradually decreased with the raising of the effective pulse number. For obtaining square trenches with precise and controllable depths and a smooth bottom in 4H-SiC, the effects of processing parameters on the material removal rate and surface roughness are discussed. The ablation rate per pulse is almost constant, even if the effective pulse number varies. The reduction of laser spot overlapping ratio in x direction has a greater weakening effect on the material removal rate than that in y direction. The precise amount of material removal can still be controlled, while modulating the surface roughness of the ablated features by changing the hatch rotation angle. There are currently no effective treatments for sepsis and acute respiratory distress syndrome (ARDS). The repositioning of existing drugs is one possible effective strategy for the treatment of sepsis and ARDS. We previously showed that vascular repair and the resolution of sepsis-induced inflammatory lung injury is dependent upon endothelial HIF-1α/FoxM1 signaling. The aim of this study was to identify a candidate inducer of HIF-1α/FoxM1 signaling for the treatment of sepsis and ARDS. Employing high throughput screening of a library of 1200 FDA-approved drugs by using hypoxia response element (HRE)-driven luciferase reporter assays, we identified Rabeprazole (also known as Aciphex) as a top HIF-α activator. In cultured human lung microvascular endothelial cells, Rabeprazole induced HIF1A mRNA expression in a dose-dependent manner. A dose-response study of Rabeprazole in a mouse model of endotoxemia-induced inflammatory lung injury identified a dose that was well tolerated and enhanced vascular repair and the resolution of inflammatory lung injury. Rabeprazole treatment resulted in reductions in lung vascular leakage, edema, and neutrophil sequestration and proinflammatory cytokine expression during the repair phrase. We next used Hif1a/Tie2Cre knockout mice and Foxm1/Tie2Cre knockout mice to show that Rabeprazole promoted vascular repair through HIF-1α/FoxM1 signaling. In conclusion, Rabeprazole is a potent inducer of HIF-1α that promotes vascular repair and the resolution of sepsis-induced inflammatory lung injury via endothelial HIF-1α/FoxM1 signaling. Porcine epidemic diarrhea virus (PEDV) is the major pathogen that causes diarrhea and high mortality in newborn piglets, with devastating impact on the pig industry. To further understand the molecular epidemiology and genetic diversity of PEDV field strains, in this study the complete genomes of four PEDV variants (HN2021, CH-HNYY-2018, CH-SXWS-2018, and CH-HNKF-2016) obtained from immunized pig farms in central China between 2016 to 2021 were characterized and analyzed. Phylogenetic analysis of the genome and S gene showed that the four strains identified in the present study had evolved into the subgroup G2a, but were distant from the vaccine strain CV777. Additionally, it was noteworthy that a new PEDV strain (named HN2021) belonging to the G2a PEDV subgroup was successfully isolated in vitro and it was further confirmed by RT-PCR that this isolate had a large natural deletion at 207–373 nt of the ORF3 gene, which has never been reported before. Particularly, in terms of pathogenicity evaluation, colostrum deprivation piglets challenged with PEDV HN2021 showed severe diarrhea and high mortality, confirming that PEDV HN2021 was a virulent strain. Hence, PEDV strain HN2021 of subgroup G2a presents a promising vaccine candidate for the control of recurring porcine epidemic diarrhea (PED) in China. Cutting force measurement is a quintessential task for status monitoring during machining. In the past, a number of cutting force sensors have been developed, each featuring a different set of performance advantages. In a pursuit to improve the measuring sensitivity and reduce the cross-interference error, in this paper we propose a triaxial cutting force sensor based on a commercial micro-electro-mechanical system (MEMS) strain gauge. An elastic-sensitive element comprised of two mutual-perpendicular octagonal rings is designed for triaxial cutting force measurement, and a decoupling matrix is derived from static calibration to reduce cross-interference. It can be concluded from static calibration that the sensor's sensitivity is 0.32 mV/N, 0.32 mV/N, and 0.05 mV/N in triaxial directions, and the proposed decoupling matrix is able to reduce cross-interference error to 0.14%, 0.25%, and 4.42%. Dynamic cutting force measurement shows that the cutting force sensor can reflect the variation of cutting status very well, it is qualified to measure triaxial cutting forces in practical applications. Four new indole-diterpenoids, named penerpenes K-N (1–4), along with twelve known ones (5–16), were isolated from the fermentation broth produced by adding L-tryptophan to the culture medium of the marine-derived fungus Penicillium sp. KFD28. The structures of the new compounds were elucidated extensively by 1D and 2D NMR, HRESIMS data spectroscopic analyses and ECD calculations. Compound 4 represents the second example of paxilline-type indole diterpene bearing a 1,3-dioxepane ring. Three compounds (4, 9, and 15) were cytotoxic to cancer cell lines, of which compound 9 was the most active and showed cytotoxic activity against the human liver cancer cell line BeL-7402 with an IC50 value of 5.3 μM. Erosion in centrifugal pumps for transporting flows with dilute particles is a main pump failure problem in many engineering processes. A numerical model combining the computational fluid dynamics (CFD) and Discrete Element Method (DEM) is applied to simulate erosion in a centrifugal pump. Different models of the liquid-solid inter-phase forces are implemented, and the particle-turbulence interaction is also defined. The inertial particles considered in this work are monodisperse and have finite size. The numerical results are validated by comparing the results with a series of experimental data. Then, the effects of particle volume fraction, size, and shape on the pump erosion are estimated in the simulations. The results demonstrate that severe erosive areas are located near the inlet and outlet of the pressure side of the impeller blade, the middle region of the blade, the corners of the shroud and hub of the impeller adjoining to the pressure side of the blade, and the volute near the pump tongue. Among these locations, the maximum erosion occurs near the inlet of the pressure side of the blade. Erosion mitigation occurs under the situation where more particles accumulate in the near-wall region of the eroded surface, forming a buffering layer. The relationship between the particle size and the erosion is nonlinear, and the 1 mm particle causes the maximum pump erosion. The sharp particles cause more severe erosion in the pump because both the frequency of particle-wall collisions and the impact angle increase with the increasing sharpness of the particle. The pulmonary route has long been used for drug administration for both local and systemic treatment. It possesses several advantages, which can be categorized into physiological, i.e., large surface area, thin epithelial membrane, highly vascularized, limited enzymatic activity, and patient convenience, i.e., non-invasive, self-administration over oral and systemic routes of drug administration. However, the formulation of dry powder for pulmonary delivery is often challenging due to restrictions on aerodynamic size and the lung's lower tolerance capacity in comparison with an oral route of drug administration. Various physicochemical properties of dry powder play a major role in the aerosolization, deposition, and clearance along the respiratory tract. To prepare suitable particles with optimal physicochemical properties for inhalation, various manufacturing methods have been established. The most frequently used industrial methods are milling and spray-drying, while several other alternative methods such as spray-freeze-drying, supercritical fluid, non-wetting templates, inkjet-printing, thin-film freezing, and hot-melt extrusion methods are also utilized. The aim of this review is to provide an overview of the respiratory tract structure, particle deposition patterns, and possible drug-clearance mechanisms from the lungs. This review also includes the physicochemical properties of dry powder, various techniques used for the preparation of dry powders, and factors affecting the clinical efficacy, as well as various challenges that need to be addressed in the future. On-line cutting force measurement is an effective way to monitor processing quality, improve processing accuracy, and protect the tool. In high-speed and ultra-precision machining, status monitoring is particularly necessary to ensure machining accuracy. However, the cutting force is very small in high speed and ultra-precision machining. Therefore, high-sensitivity cutting force sensors are needed. Current commercial cutting force sensors have defects such as large volume, low compatibility, and high price. In particular, the sensitivity of cutting force sensor needs to be improved for high-speed and ultra-precision machining status monitoring. This paper provides a possible solution by embedding the sensor in the tool and selecting sensitive materials with high piezoresistive coefficient. In this paper, the structural design of the sensor and the fabrication of the sensitive material SiAlCO ceramic are carried out, and then the sensor is packaged and tested. The test results show that the cutting force sensor's sensitivity was as high as 219.38 mV/N, which is a feasible way to improve cutting force sensor's compatibility and sensitivity. Silicon carbide (SiC) has promising potential for pressure sensing in a high temperature and harsh environment due to its outstanding material properties. In this work, a 4H-SiC piezoresistive pressure chip fabricated based on femtosecond laser technology was proposed. A 1030 nm, 200 fs Yb: KGW laser with laser average powers of 1.5, 3 and 5 W was used to drill blind micro holes for achieving circular sensor diaphragms. An accurate per lap feed of 16.2 μm was obtained under laser average power of 1.5 W. After serialized laser processing, the machining depth error of no more than 2% and the surface roughness as low as 153 nm of the blind hole were measured. The homoepitaxial piezoresistors with a doping concentration of 1019 cm−3 were connected by a closed-loop Wheatstone bridge after a rapid thermal annealing process, with a specific contact resistivity of 9.7 × 10−5 Ω cm2. The metabolites of the genus Marasmius are diverse, showing good research prospects for finding new bioactive molecules. In order to explore the active metabolites of the fungi Marasmius berteroi, the deep chemical investigation on the bioactive compounds from its cultures was undertaken, which led to the isolation of three new naphthalene compounds dipolynaphthalenes A–B (1,2) and naphthone C (3), as well as 12 known compounds (4–15). Compounds 1, 2, and 4 are dimeric naphthalene compounds. Their structures were elucidated by MS, 1D and 2D NMR spectroscopic data, as well as ECD calculations. Compounds 2–4 and 7 exhibited acetylcholinesterase (AChE) inhibitory activities at the concentration of 50 μg/mL with inhibition ratios of 42.74%, 44.63%, 39.50% and 51.49%, respectively. Compounds 5 and 7,8 showed weak inhibitory activities towards two tumor cell lines, with IC50 of 0.10, 0.076 and 0.058 mM (K562) and 0.13, 0.18, and 0.15 mM (SGC-7901), respectively. Astaxanthin is a natural product gaining increasing attention due to its safety and anti-cancer properties. In this study, we investigated the mechanisms of the anti-cancer effects of astaxanthin on prostate cancer (PCa) cell lines using aggressive PCa DU145 cells. Also an instantaneous silenced cell line (si-STAT3) derived from DU145 and a control cell line (si-NK) were used for the MTT and colony formation assays to determine the role of astaxanthin in proliferation and colony formation abilities. Flow cytometry assays were used to detect the apoptosis of tumor cells. Migration and invasion assays detected the weakening of the respective abilities. Western blot and RT-PCR tests detected the levels of STAT3 protein and mRNA. Astaxanthin resulted in suppression of the proliferation of DU145 cells and the level of STAT3. The treatment of DU145 cells with astaxanthin decreased the cloning ability, increased the apoptosis percentage and weakened the abilities of migration and invasion of the cells. Furthermore, astaxanthin reduced the expression of STAT3 at protein and mRNA levels. The effects were enhanced when astaxanthin and si-STAT3 were combined. The results of animal experiments were consistent with the results in cells. Thus, astaxanthin inhibits the proliferation of DU145 cells by reducing the expression of STAT3. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Four new ansamycins, named divergolides T–W (1–4), along with two known analogs were isolated from the fermentation broth of the mangrove-derived actinomycete Streptomyces sp. KFD18. The structures of the compounds, including the absolute configurations of their stereogenic carbons, were determined by spectroscopic data and single-crystal X-ray diffraction analysis. Compounds 1–4 showed cytotoxic activity against the human gastric cancer cell line SGC-7901, the human leukemic cell line K562, the HeLa cell line, and the human lung carcinoma cell line A549, with 1 being the most active while compounds 5 and 6 were inactive against all the tested cell lines. Compounds 1 and 3 showed very potent and specific cytotoxic activities (IC50 2.8 and 4.7 µM, respectively) against the SGC-7901 cells. Poplars are widely distributed in the northern hemisphere and have good adaptability to different living environments. The accumulation of genome and transcriptome data provides a chance to conduct comparative genomics and transcriptomics analyses to elucidate the evolutionary patterns of Populus phylogeny. Transcript sequences of eight Salicaceae species were downloaded from public databases. All of the pairwise orthologues were identified by comparative transcriptome analysis in these species, from which we constructed a phylogenetic tree and estimated the rate of divergence. The divergence times of the phylogenetic clades were mainly estimated during the Middle Miocene Climate Transition (MMCT) to Quaternary Ice Age. We also identified all of the fast-evolving sequences of positive selection and found some resistance genes that were related to environmental factors. Five new compounds named asperpenes A-C (1–3), 12,13-dedihydroversiol (4), and methyl 6-oxo-3,6-dihydro-2H-pyran-4-carboxylate (5), along with 10 known compounds (6–15), were isolated from the fermentation broth of Aspergillus sp. SCS-KFD66 associated with a bivalve mollusk, Sanguinolaria chinensis, collected from Haikou Bay, China. Six new phragmalin limonoids, named moluccensin Z1 (1), moluccensin Z2 (2), carapanolide Y (3), tabulalin N (4), chukvelutilide A1 (5), and velutinasin J (6), as well as two known compounds, chukvelutilide A (7) and velutinasin D (8) were isolated from the stems of Chukrasia tabularis A. Juss. The structures of the new compounds 1–6 were confirmed by spectroscopic methods, including IR and HRESIMS, as well as 1D and 2D NMR, and by comparisons with the data of known analogues. All compounds were tested for α-glucosidase and acetylcholinesterase inhibitory activities. However, none of the compounds was active against α-glucosidase and acetylcholinesterase in vitro. Daphnauranins C–E (compounds 1–3), two sesquiterpenoids and one monoterpenoid were isolated from the roots of Daphne aurantiaca Diels. Daphnauranin C is a 9-O-13 etherified and hydroperoxy-substituted guaiane sesquiterpenoid, daphnauranin D is a guaiane sesquiterpenoid ketal, and daphnauranin E is a monoterpenoid lactone. Their structures were elucidated by comprehensive analyses of MS, 1D NMR, and 2D NMR spectroscopic data. Endothelial autocrine signaling is essential to maintain vascular homeostasis. There is limited information about the role of endothelial autocrine signaling in regulating severe pulmonary vascular remodeling during the onset of pulmonary arterial hypertension (PAH). In this study, we employed the first severe pulmonary hypertension (PH) mouse model, Egln1 Tie2Cre ( Tie2Cre -mediated disruption of Egln1 ) mice, to identify the novel autocrine signaling mediating the pulmonary vascular endothelial cell (PVEC) proliferation and the pathogenesis of PAH. PVECs isolated from Egln1 Tie2Cre lung expressed upregulation of many growth factors or angiocrine factors such as CXCL12, and exhibited pro-proliferative phenotype coincident with the upregulation of proliferation-specific transcriptional factor FoxM1. Treatment of CXCL12 on PVECs increased FoxM1 expression, which was blocked by CXCL12 receptor CXCR4 antagonist AMD3100 in cultured human PVECs. The endothelial specific deletion of Cxcl12 (Egln1/Cxcl12 Tie2Cre ) or AMD3100 treatment in Egln1 Tie2Cre mice downregulated FoxM1 expression in vivo. We then generated and characterized a novel mouse model with endothelial specific FoxM1 deletion in Egln1 Tie2Cre mice ( Egln1/Foxm1 Tie2Cre ), and found that endothelial FoxM1 deletion reduced pulmonary vascular remodeling and right ventricular systolic pressure. Together, our study identified a novel mechanism of endothelial autocrine signaling in regulating PVEC proliferation and pulmonary vascular remodeling in PAH.

The pulmonary route has long been used for drug administration for both local and systemic treatment. It possesses several advantages, which can be categorized into physiological, i.e., large surface area, thin epithelial membrane, highly vascularized, limited enzymatic activity, and patient convenience, i.e., non-invasive, self-administration over oral and systemic routes of drug administration. However, the formulation of dry powder for pulmonary delivery is often challenging due to restrictions on aerodynamic size and the lung's lower tolerance capacity in comparison with an oral route of drug administration. Various physicochemical properties of dry powder play a major role in the aerosolization, deposition, and clearance along the respiratory tract. To prepare suitable particles with optimal physicochemical properties for inhalation, various manufacturing methods have been established. The most frequently used industrial methods are milling and spray-drying, while several other alternative methods such as spray-freeze-drying, supercritical fluid, non-wetting templates, inkjet-printing, thin-film freezing, and hot-melt extrusion methods are also utilized. The aim of this review is to provide an overview of the respiratory tract structure, particle deposition patterns, and possible drug-clearance mechanisms from the lungs. This review also includes the physicochemical properties of dry powder, various techniques used for the preparation of dry powders, and factors affecting the clinical efficacy, as well as various challenges that need to be addressed in the future.

Four new ansamycins, named divergolides T-W ( 1 - 4 ), along with two known analogs were isolated from the fermentation broth of the mangrove-derived actinomycete Streptomyces sp. KFD18. The structures of the compounds, including the absolute configurations of their stereogenic carbons, were determined by spectroscopic data and single-crystal X-ray diffraction analysis. Compounds 1 - 4 showed cytotoxic activity against the human gastric cancer cell line SGC-7901, the human leukemic cell line K562, the HeLa cell line, and the human lung carcinoma cell line A549, with 1 being the most active while compounds 5 and 6 were inactive against all the tested cell lines. Compounds 1 and 3 showed very potent and specific cytotoxic activities (IC 50 2.8 and 4.7 µM, respectively) against the SGC-7901 cells. Further, the apoptosis-inducing effect of 1 and 3 against SGC-7901 cells was demonstrated by two kinds of staining methods for the first time.

With the development of energetic materials (EMs) and microelectromechanical systems (MEMS) initiating explosive devices, the measurement of detonation pressure generated by EMs in the microscale has become a pressing need. This paper develops a manganin thin film ultra-high pressure sensor based on MEMS technology for measuring the output pressure from micro-detonator. A reliable coefficient is proposed for designing the sensor's sensitive element better. The sensor employs sandwich structure: the substrate uses a 0.5 mm thick alumina ceramic, the manganin sensitive element with a size of 0.2 mm × 0.1 mm × 2 μm and copper electrodes of 2 μm thick are sputtered sequentially on the substrate, and a 25 μm thick insulating layer of polyimide is wrapped on the sensitive element. The static test shows that the piezoresistive coefficient of manganin thin film is 0.0125 GPa -1 . The dynamic experiment indicates that the detonation pressure of micro-detonator is 12.66 GPa, and the response time of the sensor is 37 ns. In a word, the sensor developed in this study is suitable for measuring ultra-high pressure in microscale and has a shorter response time than that of foil-like manganin gauges. Protein tyrosine phosphatase 1B (PTP1B) is implicated as a negative regulator of insulin receptor (IR) signaling and a potential drug target for the treatment of type II diabetes and other associated metabolic syndromes. Thus, small molecule inhibitors of PTP1B can be considered as an attractive approach for the design of new therapeutic agents of type II diabetes and cancer diseases. In a continuing search for new PTP1B inhibitors, a new tetramic acid possessing a rare pyrrolidinedione skeleton named fumosorinone A ( 1 ), together with five known ones 2 - 6 were isolated from the entomogenous fungus Isaria fumosorosea. The structures of 2 - 6 were elucidated by extensive spectroscopic analysis. A strain-type three-component table dynamometer is presented in this paper, which reduces output errors produced by cutting forces imposed on the different milling positions of a workpiece. A sensor structure with eight parallel elastic beams is proposed, and sensitive regions and Wheastone measuring circuits are also designed in consideration of eliminating the influences of the eccentric forces. To evaluate the sensor decoupling performance, both of the static calibration and dynamic milling test were implemented in different positions of the workpiece. Static experiment results indicate that the maximal deviation between the measured forces and the standard inputs is 4.58%. Milling tests demonstrate that with same machining parameters, the differences of the measured forces between different milling positions derived by the developed sensor are no larger than 6.29%. In addition, the natural frequencies of the dynamometer are kept higher than 2585.5 Hz. All the measuring results show that as a strain-type dynamometer, the developed force sensor has an improved eccentric decoupling accuracy with natural frequencies not much decreased, which owns application potential in milling process monitoring.

In high speed and high precision machining applications, it is important to monitor the machining process in order to ensure high product quality. For this purpose, it is essential to develop a dynamometer with high sensitivity and high natural frequency which is suited to these conditions. This paper describes the design, calibration and performance of a milling torque sensor based on piezoresistive MEMS strain. A detailed design study is carried out to optimize the two mutually-contradictory indicators sensitivity and natural frequency. The developed torque sensor principally consists of a thin-walled cylinder, and a piezoresistive MEMS strain gauge bonded on the surface of the sensing element where the shear strain is maximum. The strain gauge includes eight piezoresistances and four are connected in a full Wheatstone circuit bridge, which is used to measure the applied torque force during machining procedures. Experimental static calibration results show that the sensitivity of torque sensor has been improved to 0.13 mv/Nm. A modal impact test indicates that the natural frequency of torque sensor reaches 1216 Hz, which is suitable for high speed machining processes. The dynamic test results indicate that the developed torque sensor is stable and practical for monitoring the milling process.

This paper presents a three-component fixed dynamometer based on a strain gauge, which reduces output errors produced by the cutting force imposed on different milling positions of the workpiece. A reformative structure of tri-layer cross beams is proposed, sensitive areas were selected, and corresponding measuring circuits were arranged to decrease the inaccuracy brought about by positional variation. To simulate the situation with a milling cutter moving on the workpiece and validate the function of reducing the output errors when the milling position changes, both static calibration and dynamic milling tests were implemented on different parts of the workpiece. Static experiment results indicate that with standard loads imposed, the maximal deviation between the measured forces and the standard inputs is 4.87%. The results of the dynamic milling test illustrate that with identical machining parameters, the differences in output variation between the developed sensor and standard dynamometer are no larger than 6.61%. Both static and dynamic experimental results demonstrate that the developed dynamometer is suitable for measuring milling force imposed on different positions of the workpiece, which shows potential applicability in machining a monitoring system.

This paper presents a high performance triaxial cutting force sensor with excellent accuracy, favorable natural frequency and acceptable cross-interference for high speed turning process. Octagonal ring is selected as sensitive element of the designed sensor, which is drawn inspiration from ring theory. A novel structure of two mutual-perpendicular octagonal rings is proposed and three Wheatstone full bridge circuits are specially organized in order to obtain triaxial cutting force components and restrain cross-interference. Firstly, the newly developed sensor is tested in static calibration; test results indicate that the sensor possesses outstanding accuracy in the range of 0.38%-0.83%. Secondly, impacting modal tests are conducted to identify the natural frequencies of the sensor in triaxial directions (i.e., 1147 Hz, 1122 Hz and 2035 Hz), which implies that the devised sensor can be used for cutting force measurement in a high speed lathe when the spindle speed does not exceed 17,205 rev/min in continuous cutting condition. Finally, an application of the sensor in turning process is operated to show its performance for real-time cutting force measurement; the measured cutting forces demonstrate a good accordance with the variation of cutting parameters. Thus, the developed sensor possesses perfect properties and it gains great potential for real-time cutting force measurement in turning.

Three new lanostanoid triterpenes--ganotropic acid (1), 3β,7β,15α,24-tetra- hydroxy-11,23-dioxo-lanost-8-en-26-oic acid (2) and 3β,7β,15α,28-tetrahydroxy-11,23- dioxo-lanost-8,16-dien-26-oic acid (3)--were isolated from the n-BuOH extract of the fruiting bodies of the mushroom Ganoderma tropicum. Their structures were elucidated by 1D and 2D NMR spectroscopy, as well as HR-EI-MS data.

Two new sesquiterpenoids with guaiane skeletons-holosericin A (1) and holosericin B (2)-were isolated from the medicinal plant Daphne holosericea (Diels) Hamawa (Thymelaeceae). Their structures were elucidated by 1D and 2D-NMR spectroscopy, as well as HR-ESI-MS data. Compounds 1 and 2 were evaluated for inhibitory activities against acetylcholinesterase and compound 2 showed a moderate activity with 31% inhibition.

Four new meroterpenes, guignardones F-I (1-4), together with two known compounds guignardones A (5) and B (6) were isolated from the endophytic fungus A1 of the mangrove plant Scyphiphora hydrophyllacea. Their structures and relative configurations were elucidated by spectroscopic data and single-crystal X-ray crystallography. A possible biogenetic pathway of compounds 1-6 was also proposed. All compounds were evaluated for inhibitory activity against methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA) and Staphylococcus aureus.

Two new daucane sesquiterpenoids 1β,2β-epoxy-10(H)α-dauca-11(12)-ene-7α,14-diol and 1α,2α-epoxy-10(H)α-dauca-11(12)-ene-7α,14-diol were isolated from the plateau medicinal plant Daphne aurantiaca Diels. (Thymelaeceae). Their structures were elucidated by 1D and 2D NMR spectroscopy, as well as HR-ESI-MS data.

Chemical investigation of the EtOH extract of the twigs of Calophyllum inophyllum collected in Hainan Province of China resulted in the isolation of two new prenylated xanthones, caloxanthone O (1) and caloxanthone P (2). Their structures were elucidated by a study of their physical and spectral data. Compound 1 exhibited cytotoxicity against human gastric cancer cell line (SGC-7901),with an IC50 value of 22.4 microg mL-1.
