The author discusses the results of the 2008 Group of Eight (G-8) summit in Kyoto, Japan. He mentions that as nations pledged to cut global greenhouse emissions by half by 2050, U.S. President George W. Bush has made them pay attention to reality by realizing that any meaningful climate program should involve China and India, that progress will depend on technological advancement and changes should justify brakes on economic growth. He believes that the summit endorsed greenhouse reduction aspirations that are ambitious, realistic and achievable as well.
