Mercury (Hg) is a global pollutant and a bioaccumulative toxin that seriously affects the environment. Though increasing information has been obtained on the mechanisms involved in mercury toxicity, there is still a knowledge gap between the adverse effects and action mechanisms, especially at the molecular level. In the current study, we screened a diploid library of Saccharomyces cerevisiae single-gene deletion mutants to identify the nonessential genes associated with increased sensitivity to mercury ions. By genome-scale screening, we identified 64 yeast single-gene deletion mutants. These genes are involved in metabolism, transcription, antioxidant activity, cellular transport, transport facilitation, transport routes, and the cell cycle, as well as in protein synthesis, folding, modification, and protein destination. The concentration of mercury ions was different in the cells of yeast deletion mutants. Moreover, the disruption of antioxidant systems may play a key role in the mercurial toxic effects. The related functions of sensitive genes and signal pathways were further analyzed using bioinformatics-related technologies. Among 64 sensitive genes, 37 genes have human homologous analogs. Our results may provide a meaningful reference for understanding the action mode, cellular detoxification, and molecular regulation mechanisms of mercury toxicity.

Insulators are key components to ensure the normal operation of power facilities in transmission corridors. Existing insulator identification methods mainly use image data and lack the acquisition of three-dimensional information. This paper proposes an efficient insulator extraction method based on UAV (unmanned aerial vehicle) LiDAR (light detection and ranging) point cloud, using five histogram features: horizontal density (HD), horizontal void (HV), horizontal width (HW), vertical width (VW) and vertical void (VV). Firstly, a voxel-based method is employed to roughly extract power lines and pylons from the original point cloud. Secondly, the VV histogram is used to categorize the pylons into suspension and tension types, and the HD histogram is used to locate the tower crossarm and further refine the roughly extracted powerlines. Then, for the suspension tower, insulators are segmented based on the HV histogram and HD difference histogram. For the tension tower, the HW histogram is used to recognize the jumper conductor (JC) and transmission conductor (TC) from the power line. The HW histogram and VW histogram are used to extract the tension insulator in the TC and suspension insulator in the JC, respectively. Finally, considering the problem of setting a suitable grid width when constructing the feature histogram, an adaptive method of multi-scale histograms is proposed to refine the extraction result. Two 220 kV long transmission lines are used for the validation, and the overall object-based accuracy for suspension and tension towers are 100% and 97.3%, respectively. Compared with the point feature-based method, the mean F1 score of the proposed method improved by 0.3, and the runtime for each tower is within 2 s.

This study measured the lifecycle carbon emissions of buildings in 30 Chinese provinces from 2005 to 2020 and decomposed the drivers of carbon emissions in the materialization stage and operation stage of building, respectively, using the Stochastic Impacts with the Regression on Population, Affluence, and Technology (STIRPAT) model in order to investigate the drivers of carbon emissions and their spatial influence effects in the building sector. The spatial Durbin model (SDM) was used to thoroughly investigate the spatial effects of carbon emissions and their drivers in the building sector under geographic and economic distances. According to the findings, China’s building sector has a high concentration of carbon emissions in the east and a low concentration in the west. There is also a sizable spatial autocorrelation, and the spatial spillover effects in the materialization and operation stages shift in opposite directions. To help the building sector to achieve the carbon peaking and neutrality goals, specific policy recommendations are made based on the study’s findings.

The rheological properties of warm-mix recycled asphalt binders are critical to enhancing design quality and interpreting the performance mechanisms of the corresponding mixtures. This study investigated the rheological behavior of warm-mix recycled asphalt binders with high percentages of RAP binder. The effects of two warm-mix additives [wax-based Sasobit (S) and surfactant-based Evotherm-M1 (E)], a rejuvenating aging [ZGSB (Z)], four RAP binder contents (0%, 30%, 50% and 70%), and three aging states (unaged, short-term aged and long-term aged) were evaluated in detail using the dynamic shear rheometer (DSR), bending beam rheometer (BBR) and Brookfield rotational viscometer tests as well as conventional performance tests over the whole range of temperatures. The results showed that the rejuvenating agent Z effectively alleviated the aging effect of the RAP binder; however, it could hardly eliminate entirely this negative impact, especially at higher RAP binder contents. The addition of S remarkably lowered the apparent viscosity of the warm-mix recycled binders by up to 35.0%, whereas E had little influence on the binder viscosity due to its surfactant nature. Besides, S performed much better in improving rutting resistance (with the increase of up to 411.3% in |G*|/sinδ) than E, while E exhibited superior fatigue performance (with the reduction of up to 42.3% in |G*|·sinδ) to that of S. In terms of the thermal cracking resistance, E had very slight influence and S even yielded an adverse impact (with the increase of up to 70.2% in Sa and the decrease of up to 34.1% in m-value). Further, S broadened the ranges of pavement service temperatures by about 12 °C, whereas E almost did not change the PG grades of the binders. Finally, regarding the characteristics of viscoelastic master curves, S considerably improved the dynamic modulus and lowered the phase angle of the binders over a wide range of frequencies and temperatures but led to the failure of the time-temperature superposition principle due to its thermorheologically complex nature. Nevertheless, in this regard, the effect of E was found very mild.

With the development of a low-carbon economy, zero-energy structures will become prevalent and take center stage in the construction industry. This paper uses the CiteSpace software to create knowledge maps of authors, institutions and keywords, and then examined and commented on research publications regarding zero-energy buildings in order to understand the research state and development trends of zero-energy buildings. The findings demonstrate that: (1) Since its inception in 2000, research on zero-energy buildings has advanced significantly; (2) A subject analysis approach is used to identify development trends and research emphasis, and the four research areas with the most papers published are energy fuels, construction building technology, civil engineering and green sustainable science technology; (3) China, the United States and Italy are the countries with the most activity in zero-energy building research; (4) Out of the eight most prominent keywords for the study subjects, the design of zero-energy buildings, the estimation of the carbon emissions of zero-energy buildings, the technical challenges of zero-energy buildings and the follow-up energy-saving measures of zero-energy buildings are the four fundamental topics covered in the most cited papers; (5) There are three obstacles to the development of zero-carbon buildings: unclear standards, immature technology and insufficient development momentum. The following three problems should receive more attention in the future: how to develop a widely accepted zero-carbon building standard; how to coordinate national support to achieve technological breakthroughs; and the establishment of an effective incentive mechanism at the international and national levels to promote the development of zero-carbon buildings.

A supramolecular network [H4bdcbpy(NO3)2·H2O] (H4bdcbpy = 1,1′-Bis(3,5-dicarboxybenzyl)-4,4′-bipyridinium) (1) was prepared by a zwitterionic viologen carboxylate ligand in hydrothermal synthesis conditions. The as-synthesized (1) has been well characterized by means of single-crystal/powder X-ray diffraction, elemental analysis, thermogravimetric analysis and infrared and UV-vis spectroscopy. This compound possesses a three-dimensional supramolecular structure, formed by the hydrogen bond and π–π interaction between the organic ligands. This compound shows photochromic properties under UV light, as well as vapochromic behavior upon exposure to volatile amines and ammonia, in which the electron transfer from electron-rich parts to the electron-deficient viologen unit gives rise to colored radicals. Moreover, the intensive intermolecular H-bonding networks in 1 endows it with a proton conductivity of 1.06 × 10−3 S cm−1 in water at 90 °C.

The convenient and sensitive detection of metabolites is of great significance for understanding human health status and drug development. Solid-phase electrochemiluminescence (ECL) enzyme electrodes show great potential in metabolite detection based on the enzyme-catalyzed reaction product hydrogen peroxide (H2O2). Herein, a solid-phase ECL enzyme sensor was fabricated based on a confined emitter and an immobilized enzyme using electrostatic nanocage array, constructing a platform for the sensitive detection of cholesterol. The electrostatic cage nanochannel consists of a bipolar and bilayer vertically aligned mesoporous silica film (bp-VMSF). The upper layer of bp-VMSF is an amino-modified, positively charged VMSF (p-VMSF), and the lower layer is a negatively charged VMSF (n-VMSF). The most commonly used ECL probe tris(bipyridine)ruthenium(II) (Ru(bpy)32+) is fixed in n-VMSF by electrostatic adsorption from n-VMSF and electrostatic repulsion from the upper p-VMSF, generating significantly enhanced and stable ECL signals. The successful preparation of the electrostatic cage was characterized by scanning electron microscopy (SEM) and electrochemical methods. After amino groups on the outer surface of bp-VMSF were derivatized with aldehyde, cholesterol oxidase (ChOx) molecules were covalently immobilized. The successful construction of the enzyme electrode was characterized by cyclic voltammetry (CV) and electrochemical impedance spectroscopy (EIS). When the corresponding enzyme substrate, cholesterol, was present in the solution, the ECL signal of Ru(bpy)32+ was quenched by the enzyme-catalyzed reaction product H2O2, enabling the high-sensitivity detection of cholesterol. The linear range for detecting cholesterol was from 0.05 mM to 5.0 mM, with a limit of detection (LOD) of 1.5 μM.

Navigation resource allocation for low-earth-orbit (LEO) constellations refers to the optimal allocation of navigational assets when the number and allocation of satellites in the LEO constellation have been determined. LEO constellations can not only transmit navigation enhancement signals but also enable space-based monitoring (SBM) for real-time assessment of GNSS signal quality. However, proximity in the frequencies of LEO navigation signals and SBM can lead to significant interference, necessitating isolated transmission and reception. This separation requires that SBM and navigation signal transmission be carried out by different satellites within the constellation, thus demanding a strategic allocation of satellite resources. Given the vast number of satellites and their rapid movement, the visibility among LEO, medium-earth-orbit (MEO), and geostationary orbit (GEO) satellites is highly dynamic, presenting substantial challenges in resource allocation due to the computational intensity involved. Therefore, this paper proposes an optimal allocation algorithm for LEO constellation navigation resources based on dynamic programming. In this algorithm, a network model for the allocation of navigation resources in LEO constellations is initially established. Under the constraints of visibility time windows and onboard transmission and reception isolation, the objective is set to minimize the number of LEO satellites used while achieving effective navigation signal transmission and SBM. The constraints of resource allocation and the mathematical expression of the optimization objective are derived. A dynamic programming approach is then employed to determine the optimal resource allocation scheme. Analytical results demonstrate that compared to Greedy and Divide-and-Conquer algorithms, this algorithm achieves the highest resource utilization rate and the lowest computational complexity, making it highly valuable for future resource allocation in LEO constellations.

Convenient and highly sensitive detection of oxalate ions in body fluids is of crucial significance for disease prevention, diagnosis, and monitoring of treatment effectiveness. Establishing a simple solid-state electrochemiluminescence (ECL) sensing system for highly sensitive detection of oxalate ions is highly desirable. In this work, a solid ECL sensor was fabricated by immobilizing the commonly used emitter ruthenium(II)tris(bipyridine) (Ru(bpy)32+) on a double-layered bipolar silica nanochannel array film (bp-SNA)-modified electrode, enabling sensitive detection of oxalate ions in serum or urine samples. Cost-effective and readily available indium tin oxide (ITO) was used as the supporting electrode. Convenient fabrication of multiple negatively charged SNA (n-SNA)-modified ITO electrodes was achieved through the one-step Stöber solution growth method. Subsequently, a positive outer layer film (p-SNA) was rapidly prepared using an electrochemical-assisted self-assembly method. The double-layered bipolar silica nanochannel array film achieved stable immobilization of Ru(bpy)32+ on the electrode surface, facilitated by the electrostatic adsorption of Ru(bpy)32+ by n-SNA and the electrostatic repulsion by p-SNA. Utilizing oxalate ions as a co-reactant for Ru(bpy)32+, combined with the electrostatic enrichment of oxalate ions by p-SNA, the constructed sensor enabled highly sensitive detection of oxalate ions ranging from 1 nM to 25 μM and from 25 μM to 1 mM, with a detection limit (LOD) of 0.8 nM. The fabricated ECL sensor exhibited high selectivity and good stability, making it suitable for ECL detection of oxalate ions in serum and urine samples.

Low Earth Orbit (LEO) satellite communication systems typically achieve identity authentication through the encryption and decryption of two-way information, which requires complex key management systems. In contrast, the integration of navigation and communication (NavCom) signals provides novel opportunities for physical observation and authentication solutions due to its measurement functions. This paper introduces a novel signal authentication scheme based on twice two-way satellite time transfer (TWSTT) for LEO satellite systems. It leverages the non-mutated nature of the clock difference to ascertain the legitimacy of the signal by measuring the clock difference of signals at different instances. Unlike traditional authentication methods, this approach directly exploits the temporal and spatial characteristics of the signal, negating the necessity for intricate authorization key systems. Additionally, it adeptly tackles the challenges posed by spoofing interference. The performance analysis indicates that this scheme can achieve a high detection probability for the repeater spoofing signal in the low carrier-to-noise ratio conditions.

The rapid and sensitive detection of the important biomarker C-reactive protein (CRP) is of great significance for monitoring inflammation and tissue damage. In this work, an electrochemiluminescence (ECL) aptasensor was fabricated based on dual signal amplification for the sensitive detection of CRP in serum samples. The sensor was constructed by modifying a silica nanochannel array film (SNF) on a cost-effective indium tin oxide (ITO) electrode using the Stöber solution growth method. Gold nanoparticles (AuNPs) were grown in situ within the nanochannels using a simple electrodeposition method as a nanocatalyst to enhance the active electrode area as well as the ECL signal. The negatively charged nanochannels also significantly enriched the positively charged ECL emitters, further amplifying the signal. The recognition aptamer was covalently immobilized on the outer surface of SNF after modification with epoxy groups, constructing the aptasensor. In the presence of CRP, the formation of complexes on the recognitive interface led to a decrease in the diffusion of ECL emitters and co-reactants to the supporting electrode, resulting in a reduction in the ECL signal. Based on this mechanism, ECL detection of CRP was achieved with a linear range of 10 pg/mL to 1 μg/mL and a low limit of detection (7.4 pg/mL). The ECL aptasensor developed in this study offers advantages such as simple fabrication and high sensitivity, making promising applications in biomarker detection.

The labeling-free and immobilization-free homogeneous aptamer sensor offers advantages including simple operation, low cost, and high sensitivity, demonstrating great potential in rapid detection of tumor biomarkers in biological samples. In this work, a labeling-free and immobilization-free homogeneous aptamer sensor was conveniently fabricated by combining size exclusion and charge-selective penetration of a nanochannel-modified electrode and two-dimensional (2D) nanorecognition probe which can realize selective and highly sensitive detection of alpha-fetoprotein (AFP) in serum. Vertically ordered mesoporous silica film (VMSF) with ultra-small, uniform, and vertically aligned nanochannels was easily grown on the simple, low-cost, and disposable indium tin oxide (ITO) electrode. Through π-π interaction and electrostatic force, the AFP aptamer (Apt) and electrochemical probe, tris(bipyridine)ruthenium(II) (Ru(bpy)32+), were coloaded onto graphene oxide (GO) through simple incubation, forming a 2D nanoscale recognition probe (Ru(bpy)32+/Apt@GO). Owing to the size exclusion effect of VMSF towards the 2D nanoscale probe, the electrochemical signal of Ru(bpy)32+/Apt@GO could not be detected. In the presence of AFP, the specific binding of AFP to the aptamer causes the dissociation of the aptamer and Ru(bpy)32+ from GO, resulting in their presence in the solution. The efficient electrostatic enrichment towards Ru(bpy)32+ by negatively charged VMSF allows for high electrochemical signals of free Ru(bpy)32+ in the solution. Linear determination of AFP ranged from 1 pg/mL to 1000 ng/mL and could be obtained with a low limit of detection (LOD, 0.8 pg/mL). The high specificity of the adapter endowed the constructed sensor with high selectivity. The fabricated probe can be applied in direct determination of AFP in serum.

Visual detection based on nanozymes has great potential for the rapid detection of metabolites in clinical analysis or home-based health management. In this work, iron and nitrogen co-doped carbon dots (Fe,N-CDs) were conveniently synthesized as a nanozyme for the visual detection of glucose (Glu) or cholesterol (Chol). Using inexpensive and readily available precursors, Fe,N-CDs with peroxidase-like activity were conveniently prepared through a simple hydrothermal method. Co-doping of Fe and N atoms enhanced the catalytic activity of the nanozyme. The nanozyme had a low Michaelis constant (Km) of 0.23 mM when hydrogen peroxide (H2O2) was used as the substrate. Free radical trapping experiments revealed that the reactive oxygen species (ROS) generated in the nanozyme-catalyzed process were superoxide anion radicals (•O2−), which can oxidize colorless 3,3′,5,5′-tetramethylbenzidine (TMB) to generate blue oxidation product (ox-TMB) with characteristics absorbance at 652 nm. Based on this mechanism, a colorimetric sensor was constructed to detect H2O2 ranging from 0.1 μM to 200 μM with a detection limit (DL) of 75 nM. In the presence of glucose oxidase (Gox) or Chol oxidase (Chox), Glu or Chol was oxidized, respectively, and generated H2O2. Based on this, indirect detection of Glu and Chol was realized with linear detection ranges of 5–160 μM and 2–200 μM and DLs of 2.8 μM and 0.8 μM, respectively. A paper-based visual detection platform was fabricated using Fe,N-CDs as nanozyme ink to prepare testing paper by inkjet printing. Using a smartphone to record the RGB values of the testing paper after the reaction, visual detection of Glu and Chol can be achieved with linear detection ranges of 5–160 μM (DL of 3.3 μM) and 2–200 μM (DL of 1.0 μM), respectively.

A rapid and convenient homogeneous aptamer sensor with high sensitivity is highly desirable for the electrochemical detection of tumor biomarkers. In this work, a homogeneous electrochemical aptamer sensor is demonstrated based on a two-dimensional (2D) nanocomposite probe and nanochannel modified electrode, which can realize sensitive detection of carcinoembryonic antigen (CEA). Using π-π stacking and electrostatic interaction, CEA aptamer (Apt) and cationic redox probe (hexaammineruthenium(III), Ru(NH3)63+) are co-loaded on graphite oxide (GO), leading to a 2D nanocomposite probe (Ru(NH3)63+/Apt@GO). Vertically ordered mesoporous silica-nanochannel film (VMSF) is easily grown on the supporting indium tin oxide (ITO) electrode (VMSF/ITO) using the electrochemical assisted self-assembly (EASA) method within 10 s. The ultrasmall nanochannels of VMSF exhibits electrostatic enrichment towards Ru(NH3)63+ and size exclusion towards 2D material. When CEA is added in the Ru(NH3)63+/Apt@GO solution, DNA aptamer recognizes and binds to CEA and Ru(NH3)63+ releases to the solution, which can be enriched and detected by VMSF/ITO electrodes. Based on this mechanism, CEA can be an electrochemical detection ranging from 60 fg/mL to 100 ng/mL with a limit of detection (LOD) of 14 fg/mL. Detection of CEA in human serum is also realized. The constructed homogeneous detection system does not require the fixation of a recognitive aptamer on the electrode surface or magnetic separation before detection, demonstrating potential applications in rapid, convenient and sensitive electrochemical sensing of tumor biomarkers.

Herein we report a highly specific electrochemical aptasenseor for AFB1 determination based on AFB1-controlled diffusion of redox probe (Ru(NH3)63+) through nanochannels of AFB1-specific aptamer functionalized VMSF. A high density of silanol groups on the inner surface confers VMSF with cationic permselectivity, enabling electrostatic preconcentration of Ru(NH3)63+ and producing amplified electrochemical signals. Upon the addition of AFB1, the specific interaction between the aptamer and AFB1 occurs and generates steric hindrance effect on the access of Ru(NH3)63+, finally resulting in the reduced electrochemical responses and allowing the quantitative determination of AFB1. The proposed electrochemical aptasensor shows excellent detection performance in the range of 3 pg/mL to 3 μg/mL with a low detection limit of 2.3 pg/mL for AFB1 detection. Practical analysis of AFB1 in peanut and corn samples is also accomplished with satisfactory results by our fabricated electrochemical aptasensor.

The development of simple and probe-integrated aptamer sensors for the electrochemical detection of tumor biomarkers is of great significance for the diagnosis of tumors and evaluation of prognosis. In this work, a probe-integrated aptamer sensor is demonstrated based on the stable confinement of an electrochemical probe in a bipolar nanochannel film, which can realize the reagentless electrochemical detection of the tumor biomarker carcinoembryonic antigen (CEA). To realize the stable immobilization of a large amount of the cationic electrochemical probe methylene blue (MB), a two-layer silica nanochannel array (SNF) with asymmetric charge was grown on the supporting electrode from bipolar SNF (bp-SNF). The inner SNF is negatively charged (n-SNF), and the outer-layer SNF is positively charged (p-SNF). The dual electrostatic interaction including the electrostatic adsorption from n-SNF and the electrostatic repulsion from p-SNF achieve the stable confinement of MB in bp-SNF. The recognitive interface is fabricated by the covalent immobilization of the CEA aptamer on the outer surface of bp-SNF, followed by the blocking of non-specific binding sites. Owing to the stable and abundant immobilized probes and highly specific aptamer interface, the developed aptamer sensor enables the sensitive detection of CEA in the range of 1 pg/mL to 1 μg/mL with a low limit of detection (LOD, 0.22 pg/mL, S/N = 3). Owing to the high selectivity and stability of the developed biosensor, reagentless electrochemical detection of CEA in serum was realized.

An electrochemiluminescence-electrochemistry (ECL-EC) dual-mode sensing platform based on a vertically-ordered mesoporous silica films (VMSF) modified electrode was designed here for the sensitive and selective determination of cancer antigen 15-3 (CA 15-3), a specific biomarker of breast cancer. VMSF was assembled through a rapid electrochemically assisted self-assembly (EASA) method and plays a crucial role in signal amplification via a strong electrostatic interaction with the positively charged bifunctional probe Ru(bpy)32+. To construct the biorecognition interface, epoxy functional silane was linked to the surface of VMSF for further covalent immobilization of the antibody. As a benefit from the specific combination of antigen and antibody, a non-conductive immunocomplex layer was formed in the presence of CA 15-3, leading to the hinderance of the mass and electron transfer of the probes. Based on this strategy, the dual-mode determination of CA 15-3 ranging from 0.1 mU/mL to 100 mU/mL with a LOD of 9 μU/mL for ECL mode, and 10 mU/mL to 200 U/mL with a LOD of 5.4 mU/mL for EC mode, was achieved. The proposed immunosensor was successfully employed for the detection of CA 15-3 in human serum without tedious pretreatment.

Direct, rapid, and sensitive detection of drugs in complex biological samples is essential for drug abuse control and health risk assessment. In this work, an electrochemical sensor was fabricated based on equipment of vertically-ordered mesoporous silica film (VMSF) on an electrochemically pre-treated three-dimensional graphene electrode (p-3DG), which can achieve direct and sensitive determination of methylthiopyridazine (TR) in urine. Three-dimensional graphene (3DG) with a continuous and interpenetrating graphene network was used as the supporting electrode and simple electrochemical polarization was employed to pre-treat 3DG to improve surface hydrophilicity and electrocatalytic performance. VMSF was easily grown using an electrochemical assisted self-assembly method within 10 s and was stably bound to the p-3DG surface. The nanochannel array on the as-prepared VMSF/p-3DG sensor enriched positively charged TR, leading to significantly improved electrochemical signal. Combined with the high electric activity of p-3DG and the enrichment of nanochannels, VMSF/p-3DG realized sensitive determination of TR ranging from 50 nM to 10 μM with a low detection limit (DL, 30 nM). Owing to the anti-fouling and anti-interference performance of VMSF, the common electroactive molecules including ascorbic acid (AA) and uric acid (UA) did not interfere with the detection. In addition, the detection of TR in buffer and urine exhibited similar sensitivity. Accurate detection of TR in urine was realized.

We developed a simple hydrothermal technique for the fabrication of a flexible integrated composite containing cerium vanadate (CeVO4) and multi-walled carbon nanotubes (MWCNTs). The CeVO4/MWCNTs composite possessed good conductivity and interesting electrochemical catalytic performance when immobilized on a glassy carbon electrode (GCE). This CeVO4/MWCNTs-GCE sensor provided excellent analytical performance for the detection of the sulfonamide antibacterial drug sulfamethazine (SMZ). Benefiting from the significantly enlarged surface area of the modified electrode and the catalytic effect of CeVO4-MWCNTs, the sensor offered high sensitivity, good stability, fine selectivity, and a remarkable limit of detection (LOD) of 0.02 μM. Furthermore, the sensor also exhibited ideal performance with good recovery and precision when applied to SMZ residue detection in real aquaculture water samples.

Rapid and highly sensitive quantitative analysis of chlorpromazine (CPZ) in human whole blood is of great importance for human health. Herein, we utilize the screen-printed carbon electrodes (SPCE) as the electrode substrates for growth of highly electroactive and antifouling nanocomposite materials consisting of vertically ordered mesoporous silica films (VMSF) and electrochemically reduced graphene oxide (ErGO) nanosheets. The preparation of such VMSF/ErGO/SPCE could be performed by using an electrochemical method in a few seconds and the operation is controllable. Inner ErGO layer converted from graphene oxide (GO) in the growth process of VMSF provides oxygen-containing groups and two-dimensional π-conjugated planar structure for stable fabrication of outer VMSF layer. Owing to the π-π enrichment and excellent electrocatalytic abilities of ErGO, electrostatic preconcentration and antifouling capacities of VMSF, and inherent disposable and miniaturized properties of SPCE, the proposed VMSF/ErGO/SPCE sensor could be applied for quantitative determination of CPZ in human whole blood with high accuracy and sensitivity, good stability, and low sample consumption.

Sensitive determination of C-reactive protein (CRP) is of great significance because it is an early indicator of inflammation in cardiovascular disease and acute myocardial infarction. A disposable electrode with an integrated three-electrode system (working, reference, and counter electrodes) has great potential in the detection of biomarkers. In this work, an electrochemical immunosensing platform was fabricated on disposable and integrated screen-printed carbon electrode (SPCE) by introducing nanochannel arrays and gated electrochemical signals, which can achieve the sensitive detection of CRP in serum. To introduce active reactive groups for the fabrication of immuno-recognitive interface, vertically-ordered mesoporous silica-nanochannel film (VMSF) with rich amino groups (NH2-VMSF) was rapidly grown by electrochemical assisted self-assembly (EASA). The electrochemically reduced graphene oxide (ErGO) synthesized in situ during the growth of NH2-VMSF was used as a conductive adhesive glue to achieve stable bonding of the nanochannel array (NH2-VMSF/ErGO/SPCE). After the amino group on the outer surface of NH2-VMSF reacted with bifunctional glutaraldehyde (GA/NH2-VMSF/ErGO/SPCE), the converted aldehyde surface was applied for covalent immobilization of the recognitive antibody (Ab) followed with the blocking of the non-specific sites. The fabricated immunosensor, Ab/GA/NH2-VMSF/ErGO/SPCE, enables sensitive detection of CRP in the range from 10 pg/mL to 100 ng/mL with low limit of detection (LOD, 8 pg/mL, S/N = 3). The immunosensor possessed high selectivity and can realize reliable determination of CRP in human serum.

In the present study, an amphiphilic polymer was prepared by conjugating methoxy poly(ethylene glycol) (mPEG) with tetraphenylethene (TPE) via disulfide bonds (Bi(mPEG-S-S)-TPE). The polymer could self-assemble into micelles and solubilize hydrophobic anticancer drugs such as paclitaxel (PTX) in the core. Combining the effect of TPE, mPEG, and disulfide bonds, the Bi(mPEG-S-S)-TPE micelles exhibited excellent AIE feature, reduced protein adsorption, and redox-sensitive drug release behavior. An in vitro intracellular uptake study demonstrated the great imaging ability and efficient internalization of Bi(mPEG-S-S)-TPE micelles. The excellent anticancer effect and low systemic toxicity were further evidenced by the in vivo anticancer experiment. The Bi(mPEG-S-S)-TPE micelles were promising drug carriers for chemotherapy and bioimaging.

Rapid and highly sensitive determination of clozapine (CLZ), a psychotropic drug for the treatment of refractory schizophrenia, in patients is of great significance to reduce the risk of disease recurrence. However, direct electroanalysis of CLZ in human whole blood remains a great challenge owing to the remarkable fouling that occurs in a complex matrix. In this work, a miniaturized, integrated, disposable electrochemical sensing platform based on the integration of nanochannel arrays on the surface of screen-printed carbon electrodes (SPCE) is demonstrated. The device achieves high determination sensitivity while also offering the electrode anti-fouling and anti-interference capabilities. To enhance the electrochemical performance of SPCE, simple electrochemical polarization including anodic oxidation and cathodic reduction is applied to pretreat SPCE. The electrochemically polarized SPCE (p-SPCE) exhibits an enhanced electrochemical peak signal toward CLZ compared with bare SPCE. An electrochemically assisted self-assembly method (EASA) is utilized to conveniently electrodeposit a vertically ordered mesoporous silica nanomembrane film (VMSF) on the p-SPCE, which could further enrich CLZ through electrostatic interactions. Owing to the dual signal amplification based on the p-SPCE and VMSF nanochannels, the developed VMSF/SPCE sensor enables determination of CLZ in the range from 50 nM to 20 μM with a low limit of detection (LOD) of 28 nM (S/N = 3). Combined with the excellent anti-fouling and anti-interference abilities of VMSF, direct and sensitive determination of CLZ in human blood is also achieved.

Screen-printed carbon electrodes (SPCEs) bear great potential in the detection of biomarker in clinical samples with low sample consumption. However, modification of electrode surfaces to improve the anti-interference ability and sensitivity is highly desirable for direct electroanalysis of whole blood samples. Here, a reliable and miniaturized electrochemical sensor is demonstrated based on SPCE equipped with vertically-ordered mesoporous silica-nanochannel film (VMSF). To achieve stable binding of VMSF and improve the electrocatalytic performance, electrochemically reduced graphene oxide (ErGO) is applied as a conductive adhesion layer, that is in situ reduced from GO nanosheets during fast growth (less than 10 s) of amino groups modified VMSF (NH2-VMSF) using electrochemically assisted self-assembly (EASA). In comparison with bare SPCE, NH2-VMSF/ErGO/SPCE exhibits decreased oxidation potential of uric acid (UA) by 147 mV owing to significant electrocatalytic ability of ErGO. The dual signal amplification based on electrocatalysis of ErGO and enrichment of nanochannels leads to enhanced peak current by 3.9 times. Thus, the developed NH2-VMSF/ErGO/SPCE sensor enables sensitive detection of UA in the range from 0.5 μM to 180 μM with a low limit of detection (LOD, 129 nM, S/N = 3). Owing to good anti-fouling ability and high selectivity of the sensor, direct and rapid detection of UA in human whole blood is realized with very low sample consumption (50 μL).

Three-dimensional graphene (3DG) with macroporous structure has great potential in the field of electroanalysis owing to a large active area, excellent electron mobility and good mass transfer. However, simple and low-cost preparation of 3DG electrodes with high electrocatalytic ability is still a challenge. Here, a fast and convenient electrochemical polarization method is established to pretreat free-standing 3DG (p-3DG) to offer high electrocatalytic ability. 3DG with monolithic and macroporous structure prepared by chemical vapor deposition (CVD) is applied as the starting electrode. Electrochemical polarization is performed using electrochemical oxidation (anodization) at high potential (+6 V) followed with electrochemical reduction (cathodization) at low potential (−1 V), leading to exposure of edge of graphene and introduction of oxygen-containing groups. The as-prepared p-3DG displays increased hydrophilicity and improved electrocatalytic ability. As a proof of concept, p-3DG was used to selective electrochemical detection of two isomers of benzenediol, hydroquinone (p-BD) and catechol (o-BD). In comparison with initial 3DG, p-3DG exhibits increased reversibility of redox reaction, improved peak current and good potential resolution with high potential separation between p-BD and o-BD. Individual or selective determination of p-BD or o-BD in single substance solution or binary mixed solution is realized. Real analysis of pond water is also achieved.

As food and beverages require more and more green and safe packaging products, the emergence of polymer coated steel (PCS) has been promoted. PCS is a layered composite strip made of metal and polymer. To probe the bonding mechanism of PCS micro-interface, the substrate tin-free steel (TFS) was physically characterized by SEM and XPS, and cladding polyethylene terephthalate (PET) was simulated by first-principles methods of quantum mechanics (QM). We used COMPASS force field for molecular dynamics (MD) simulation. XPS pointed out that the element composition of TFS surface coating is Cr(OH)3, Cr2O3 and CrO3. The calculation results of MD and QM indicate that the chromium oxide and PET molecules compound in the form of acid-base interaction. The binding energies of Cr2O3 (110), (200), and (211) with PET molecules are −13.07 eV, −2.74 eV, and −2.37 eV, respectively. We established a Cr2O3 (200) model with different hydroxyl concentrations. It is proposed that the oxygen atom in C=O in the PET molecule combines with –OH on the surface of TFS to form a hydrogen bond. The binding energy of the PCS interface increases with the increase of the surface hydroxyl concentration of the TFS. It provides theoretical guidance and reference significance for the research on the bonding mechanism of PCS.

The interfacial bonding process and mechanical properties of AISI (American Iron and Steel Institute) stainless steel/Q235A carbon steel were investigated by deformation bonding, heat preservation, and tensile tests. The results reveal that the deformation temperature has a beneficial effect on the bonding rate, and that the critical temperature for the large-area bonding of stainless steel and carbon steel is approximately 700 °C. However, owing to the short contact time, only a shallow diffusion of approximately 2–3 µm can be achieved. A slight decrease in the interfacial bonding rate after heat preservation is correlated to the difference between the thermal expansion coefficients of the two materials, but the thickness of the diffusion layer shows a significant increase. It was found that the strength of the composites is mostly related to the bonding rate and the strength of the relatively soft material, which can be determined using an explicit equation. Moreover, with the increase in the interfacial bonding rate, the crack source changes from the junction of the unbonded and bonded areas of the interface to the interior of the carbon steel. The failure mode evolves from cleavage brittle fracture to ductile–brittle mixed-mode fracture, and then to ductile fracture.
