Key message: Three stable QTL for grain zinc concentration were identified in wheat landrace Chinese Spring. Favorable alleles were more frequent in landraces than in modern wheat cultivars. Wheat is a major source of dietary energy for the growing world population. Developing cultivars with enriched zinc and iron can potentially alleviate human micronutrient deficiency. In this study, a recombinant inbred line (RIL) population with 245 lines derived from cross Zhou 8425B/Chinese Spring was used to detect quantitative trait loci (QTL) for grain zinc concentration (GZnC) and grain iron concentration (GFeC) across four environments. Three stable QTL for GZnC with all favorable alleles from Chinese Spring were identified on chromosomes 3BL, 5AL, and 5BL. These QTL explaining maxima of 8.7%, 5.8%, and 7.1% of phenotypic variances were validated in 125 resequenced wheat accessions encompassing both landraces and modern cultivars using six kompetitive allele specific PCR (KASP) assays. The frequencies of favorable alleles for QGZnCzc.caas-3BL, QGZnCzc.caas-5AL and QGZnCzc.caas-5BL were higher in landraces (90.4%, 68.0%, and 100.0%, respectively) compared to modern cultivars (45.9%, 35.4%, and 40.9%), suggesting they were not selected in breeding programs. Candidate gene association studies on GZnC in the cultivar panel further delimited the QTL into 8.5 Mb, 4.1 Mb, and 47.8 Mb regions containing 46, 4, and 199 candidate genes, respectively. The 5BL QTL located in a region where recombination was suppressed. Two stable and three less stable QTL for GFeC with favorable alleles also from Chinese Spring were identified on chromosomes 4BS (Rht-B1a), 4DS (Rht-D1a), 1DS, 3AS, and 6DS. The precise, simultaneous, and rapid detection of essential biomarkers in human tears is imperative for monitoring both ocular and systemic health. The utilization of a wearable colorimetric biochemical sensor exhibits potential in achieving swift and concurrent detection of pivotal biomarkers in tears. Nevertheless, challenges arise in the collection, interpretation, and sharing of data from the colorimetric sensor, thereby restricting the practical implementation of this technology. To overcome these challenges, this research introduces an artificial intelligence-assisted wearable microfluidic colorimetric sensor system (AI-WMCS) for rapid, non-invasive, and simultaneous detection of key biomarkers in human tears, including vitamin C, H+(pH), Ca2+, and proteins. The sensor consists of a flexible microfluidic epidermal patch that collects tears and facilitates the colorimetric reaction, and a deep-learning neural network-based cloud server data analysis system (CSDAS) embedded in a smartphone enabling color data acquisition, interpretation, auto-correction, and display. To enhance accuracy, a well-trained multichannel convolutional recurrent neural network (CNN-GRU) corrects errors in the interpreted concentration data caused by varying pH and color temperature in different measurements. The test set determination coefficients (R2) of 1D-CNN-GRU for predicting pH and 3D-CNN-GRU for predicting the other three biomarkers were as high as 0.998 and 0.994, respectively. This correction significantly improves the accuracy of the predicted concentration, enabling accurate, simultaneous, and quick detection of four critical tear biomarkers using only minute amounts of tears (~ 20 μL). This research demonstrates the powerful integration of a flexible microfluidic colorimetric biosensor and deep-learning algorithm, which holds immense potential to revolutionize the fields of health monitoring. Stripe rust, caused by Puccinia striiformis f. sp. tritici (Pst), is a devastating fungal disease, leading to huge yield losses in wheat production. Identification of resistance genes and closely linked molecular markers can greatly facilitate breeding resistant wheat cultivars. Shaannong69 conferred high resistance to stripe rust both at the seedling and adult-plant stages. The Pst race CYR31 was used to infect Shaannong69, Huixianhong, F1 and F2 plants and F2:3 lines at the seedling stage in the greenhouse. Genetic analysis identified a single dominant gene, designated as YrSN69, conferring resistance to Pst race CYR31 in Shaannong69. Seventy-four of 176 SNPs with the absolute value of ∆SNP-index more than 0.85 were identified in 753.33–766.18 Mb on chromosome 2BL based on bulked segregant RNA sequencing. Fifteen kompetitive allele-specific PCR markers were developed to genotype susceptible F2 plants derived from the Shaannong69/Huixianhong cross. YrSN69 was mapped on chromosome arm 2BL in a 2.0 cM genetic interval, with genetic distances of 0.2 cM and 1.8 cM to markers 2BC17 and 2BA20, respectively, corresponding to a 3.16 Mb physical region based on the IWGSC RefSeq v1.1 with 44 high-confidence annotated genes. The YrSN69 is likely to be a new allele of Yr72 in comparison with known Yr genes on chromosome 2BL. Faba bean wilt disease is a key factor limiting its production. Intercropping of faba bean with wheat has been adopted as a prevalent strategy to mitigate this disease. Nitrogen fertilizer improves faba bean yield, yet wilt disease imposes limitations. However, faba bean-wheat intercropping is effective in controlling wilt disease. To investigate the effect of intercropping under varying nitrogen levels on the incidence of faba bean wilt disease, nutrient uptake, and biochemical resistance in faba bean. Field and pot experiments were conducted in two cropping systems: faba bean monocropping (M) and faba bean-wheat intercropping (I). At four nitrogen levels, we assessed the incidence rate of wilt disease, quantified nutrient uptake, and evaluated biochemical resistance indices of plants. The application of N decreased the incidence rate of wilt disease, with the lowest reduction observed in intercropping at the N2 level. N application at levels N1, N2, and N3 enhanced the content of N, P, K, Fe, and Mn as well as superoxide dismutase (SOD), phenylalanine ammonia lyase (PAL), and polyphenol oxidase (PPO) activities and defense gene expression in monocultured plants. Additionally, these levels increased the contents of total phenols, flavonoids, soluble sugars, and soluble proteins, and all reached their maximum in intercropping at the N2 level. The application of intercropping and N effectively controlled the occurrence of faba bean wilt disease by promoting nutrient absorption, alleviating peroxidation stress, and enhancing resistance in plants. An increasing number of studies emphasize that trust is most relevant to well-being. However, the results of this relationship remain inconclusive. This meta-analysis aims to synthesize the evidence on the association between trust and individual well-being. We searched several electronic databases to identify relevant studies published before September 30, 2022. Studies were included if they reported a Pearson’s correlation coefficient between trust and well-being. And a random-effects model was used. We identified 132 primary studies with a total of 1,060,174 participants. The results provided a moderate correlation between trust and well-being (ρ = 0.255) with 95% CI = [.240,.269]. Furthermore, we explored different trust types, well-being types, individualism, age, and gender as moderators. The results showed that the well-being types moderated the relationship between trust and well-being. Specifically, the strongest is social well-being, while the weakest is physical well-being. Trust types and individualism did not moderate the link between trust and well-being, whereas age and gender did. Continuous cropping of faba bean (Vicia faba L.) has led to a high incidence of wilt disease. The implementation of an intercropping system involving wheat and faba bean can effectively control the propagation of faba bean wilt disease. To investigate the mechanisms of wheat in mitigating faba bean wilt disease in a wheat-faba bean intercropping system. A comprehensive investigation was conducted to assess the temporal variations in Fusarium oxysporum f. sp. fabae (FOF) on the chemotaxis of benzoxazinoids (BXs) and wheat root through indoor culture tests. The effects of BXs on FOF mycelial growth, spore germination, spore production, and electrical conductivity were examined. The influence of BXs on the ultrastructure of FOF was investigated through transmission electron microscopy. Eukaryotic mRNA sequencing was utilized to analyze the differentially expressed genes in FOF upon treatment with BXs. FOF exhibited a significant positive chemotactic effect on BXs in wheat roots and root secretions. BXs possessed the potential to exert significant allelopathic effects on the mycelial growth, spore germination, and sporulation of FOF. In addition, BXs demonstrated a remarkable ability to disrupt the structural integrity and stability of the membrane and cell wall of the FOF mycelia. BXs possessed the capability of posing threats to the integrity and stability of the cell membrane and cell wall. Purinergic receptor P2Y11, a G protein-coupled receptor that is stimulated by extracellular ATP, has been demonstrated to be related to the chemotaxis of granulocytes, apoptosis of neutrophils, and secretion of cytokines in vitro. P2Y11 mutations were associated with narcolepsy. However, little is known about the roles of P2RY11 in the occurrence of narcolepsy and inflammatory response in vivo. In this study, we generated a zebrafish P2Y11 mutant using CRISPR/Cas9 genome editing and demonstrated that the P2Y11 mutant replicated the narcolepsy-like features including reduced HCRT expression and excessive daytime sleepiness, suggesting that P2Y11 is essential for HCRT expression. Furthermore, we accessed the cytokine expression in the mutant and revealed that the P2RY11 mutation disrupted the systemic inflammatory balance by reducing il4, il10 and tgfb, and increasing il6, tnfa, and il1b. In addition, the P2RY11-deficient larvae with caudal fin injuries exhibited significantly slower migration and less recruitment of neutrophils and macrophages at damaged site, and lower expression of anti-inflammatory cytokines during tissue damage. All these findings highlight the vital roles of P2RY11 in maintaining HCRT production and secreting anti-inflammatory cytokines in the native environment, and suggested that P2RY11-deficient zebrafish can serve as a reliable and unique model to further explore narcolepsy and inflammatory-related diseases with impaired neutrophil and macrophage responses. Neural networks (NNs) have been used extensively in surface water prediction tasks due to computing algorithm improvements and data accumulation. An essential step in developing an NN is the hyperparameter selection. In practice, it is common to manually determine hyperparameters in the studies of NNs in water resources tasks. This may result in considerable randomness and require significant computation time; therefore, hyperparameter optimization (HPO) is essential. This study adopted five representatives of the HPO techniques in the surface water quality prediction tasks, including the grid sampling (GS), random search (RS), genetic algorithm (GA), Bayesian optimization (BO) based on the Gaussian process (GP), and the tree Parzen estimator (TPE). For the evaluation of these techniques, this study proposed a method: first, the optimal hyperparameter value sets achieved by GS were regarded as the benchmark; then, the other HPO techniques were evaluated and compared with the benchmark in convergence, optimization orientation, and consistency of the optimized values. The results indicated that the TPE-based BO algorithm was recommended because it yielded stable convergence, reasonable optimization orientation, and the highest consistency rates with the benchmark values. The optimization consistency rates via TPE for the hyperparameters hidden layers, hidden dimension, learning rate, and batch size were 86.7%, 73.3%, 73.3%, and 80.0%, respectively. Unlike the evaluation of HPO techniques directly based on the prediction performance of the optimized NN in a single HPO test, the proposed benchmark-based HPO evaluation approach is feasible and robust. The diagnosis of Talaromyces marneffei infection in HIV-negative patients remains challenging. There is an urgent need for rapid and convenient methods to diagnose this complicated disease. The aim of this study was to evaluate the diagnostic efficiency of metagenomic next-generation sequencing (mNGS) for talaromycosis in non-HIV-infected patients by comparing mNGS with traditional microbial culture. In total, 66 samples from 57 patients were analyzed via both mNGS and microbial culture. The ROC curve showed a sensitivity for mNGS of 97.22%, which was greater than that of microbial culture (61.11%). Samples from the respiratory tract, infectious skin lesions, and lymph nodes are recommended as routine samples for talaromycosis detection via mNGS. Furthermore, mNGS significantly reduced the diagnostic time compared to microbial culture. Overall, our study demonstrated that mNGS is a promising tool for rapid and accurate pathogenic detection in HIV-negative patients with talaromycosis. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Background: Lactoferrin (LF) is an iron-binding multifunctional cationic glycoprotein. Previous studies have demonstrated that LF may be a potential drug for treating acute lung injury (ALI) and acute respiratory distress syndrome (ARDS). In this study, we explored the anti-inflammatory effect and mechanism of bovine lactoferrin (bLF) in ALI using the RNA sequencing (RNA-seq) technology and transcriptome analysis. Methods and results: Based on the differentially expressed genes (DEGs) obtained from RNA-seq of the Lung from mouse model, the bioinformatics workflow was implemented using the BGISEQ-500 platform. The protein–protein interaction (PPI) network was obtained using STRING, and the hub gene was screened using Cytoscape. To verify the results of transcriptome analysis, the effects of bLF on Lipopolysaccharide (LPS)-induced BEAS-2B cells and its anti-reactive oxygen species (ROS), anti-inflammatory, and antiapoptotic effects were studied via Cell Counting Kit-8 (CCK-8) test, active oxygen detection test, ELISA, and western blot assay. Transcriptome analysis revealed that two hub gene modules of DEGs were screened via PPI analysis using the STRING and MCODE plug-ins of Cytoscape. Kyoto Encyclopedia of Genes and Genomes (KEGG) enrichment analysis revealed that these core modules are enriched in the PPAR (peroxisome proliferator-activated receptor) and AMPK (AMP-activated protein kinase) signaling pathways. Through cell experiments, our study shows that bLF can inhibit ROS, inflammatory reaction, and LPS-induced BEAS-2B cell apoptosis, which are significantly antagonized by the PPAR-γ inhibitor GW9662. Conclusion: This study has suggested that the PPAR-γ pathway is the critical target of bLF in anti-inflammatory reactions and apoptosis of ALI, which provides a direction for further research. There is a dearth of information on the relationship between interpersonal distrust and social aggression in the youth, although both may lead to negative interpersonal relationships. Furthermore, scholars have not explored whether interpersonal distrust influences later social aggression over time at the within-person level. This study used five wave longitudinal data to investigate the longitudinal association between interpersonal distrust and social aggression and the role of hostile attribution bias in this relationship; notably, it used a relatively rigorous approach—the random intercept cross-lagged panel model—to disentangle within-person processes from stable between-person differences. The final number of participants included 1053 undergraduate students (677 female students and 376 male students), and 64.3% were female students, with a mean age of 18.45 years (SD = 0.95) at first measurement. Participants completed assessments for interpersonal distrust, hostile attribution bias, and social aggression at five time points across 6-month intervals. At the within-person level, the results revealed that interpersonal distrust was a predictor of later social aggression and that hostile attribution bias acted as a longitudinal mediator in this relationship. This result indicates that to enhance interpersonal harmony and reduce individual hostility and aggression toward others, intervention programs should aim to reduce interpersonal distrust. Key message: The regulatory action of BXs secreted by wheat on the pathogenicity of FOF causing Fusarium wilt in faba bean were analyzed. DIMBOA and MBOA weakened the pathogenicity of FOF. A large number of pathogenic bacteria in continuous cropping soil infect faba bean plants, leading to the occurrence of wilt disease, which restricts their production. Faba bean–wheat intercropping is often used to alleviate this disease. This study investigates the effect of benzoxazinoids (BXs) secreted by wheat root on the pathogenicity of Fusarium oxysporum f. sp. Fabae (FOF) and underlying molecular mechanisms. The effects of DIMBOA(2,4-dihydroxy-7-methoxy-1,4-benzoxazine-4-one) and MBOA(6-methoxybenzoxazolin-2-one) on the activity of cell-wall-degrading enzymes in FOF(cellulase, pectinase, amylase, and protease), FOF Toxin (fusaric acid, FA) content were investigated through indoor culture experiments. The effect of BXs on the metabolic level of FOF was analyzed by metabonomics to explore the ecological function of benzoxazines intercropping control of Fusarium wilt in faba bean. The results show that the Exogenous addition of DIMBOA and MBOA decreased the activity of plant-cell-wall-degrading enzymes and fusaric acid content and significantly weakened the pathogenicity of FOF. DIMBOA and MBOA significantly inhibited the pathogenicity of FOF, and metabolome analysis showed that DIMBOA and MBOA reduced the pathogenicity of FOF by down-regulating related pathways such as nucleotide metabolism and linoleic acid metabolism, thus effectively controlling the occurrence of Fusarium wilt in faba bean. This paper investigates the impact of financial openness on financial sector development and income inequality. We use two approaches to capture financial openness for a panel dataset of 52 African countries from 1980–2019 and find that: (1) Principle-based financial openness policy negatively affects financial sector development and widens income inequality. In contrast, the outcome-based measures positively affect banking sector development and narrow income inequality. (2) Capital inflow to African countries is not merely pulled a vibrant macroeconomic fundamental. Only schooling and governance factors facilitate the impact of financial openness on financial sector development. (3) Adverse non-policy factors play an insignificant role in moderating the impact of financial openness. This implies that the impact of financial openness on financial sector development and income inequality is weak in countries experiencing a banking crisis or passing through a lengthy conflict. Our finding is consistent with the institutional quality theory, which claims robust institutions are needed. We underline that countries should take caution in implementing principle-based reforms. Particularly, there is an alternative policy path for African countries to optimize the benefit by pursuing outcome-based financial openness measures. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Optimizing collaborative behavior is crucial in educational activities, directly improving academic performance, social skills, and social-emotional learning for both teachers and students. In an effort to decipher the mechanisms underlying the effectiveness of collaborative learning, educators and neuroscientists have initiated the collection and analysis of learners' physiological parameters during such collaborative exercises. Considering both accuracy and portability, functional near-infrared spectroscopy (fNIRS) has emerged as a viable tool. The current study aims to understand its potential for studying neural mechanisms of collaboration. Sixty articles were reviewed from three databases to address three research questions: (1) What are the characteristics (i.e., number of publications per year and for different age groups of participants, sample size, and the usage of fNIRS devices) of fNIRS-based collaboration research? (2) What experimental designs are commonly employed in fNIRS-based collaboration research? (3) What is the relationship between neural activity and interactive behavioral performance? The results provide a comprehensive descriptive statistical analysis of the literature characteristics and offer a detailed summary of the research methods employed, including the experimental protocol, task, and duration. Importantly, these findings demonstrate compelling evidence of inter-brain synchrony (IBS), indicating synchronized cortical activities between interacting individuals, and it was observed in the prefrontal cortex or temporoparietal cortex during collaboration and interaction tasks, highlighting the crucial role of these brain regions in facilitating collaborative behavior. The finding of this review advanced our understanding of how fNIRS is ultilized in collaborative research and offer practical implications for designing educational interventions or programs aimd at enhancing collaborative behaviors and their associated benefits. High quality is an important goal of wheat breeding. Several superstrong gluten wheat varieties, e.g. 'Xinmai 26' and 'Xinmai 45', have been bred to meet the needs of the consumer market. However, the genetic composition, transmission frequency, and genetic contribution of these varieties and their progeny are not clear. To analyse the genetic composition of the high-quality strong gluten wheat varieties 'Xinmai 26' and 'Xinmai 45', the genetic contribution rates of parents to the varieties were determined using 6056 single nucleotide polymorphism (SNP) markers detected by a widely used high-throughput wheat array (15 K chip). Additionally, the chromosome polymorphisms of five related wheat varieties were determined by fluorescence in situ hybridization (FISH) using four oligonucleotide probe sets. The results showed that the genetic contribution rate of 'Jinan 17' to 'Xinmai 26' was 55.97%, much higher than that (15.81%) of 'Xinmai 18'. 'Jimai 20' showed a genetic contribution rate of 57.53% to 'Xinmai 45', slightly higher than that of 'Xinmai 26' (40.21%). The specific fragment differences between male and female parents were identified in both breeding varieties, and 'Xinmai 26' had more specific fragments that differed from those of the male and female parents than 'Xinmai 45'. The chromosomes of group A and group B of the five varieties were significantly polymorphic, but no chromosomal translocations or inversions were found. These promising results will allow exploration of the genetic pattern of high-quality varieties, promote breeding efficiency, and facilitate the utilisation of the superior traits of backbone parents for wheat quality improvement. First, a narrow region principle for antisymmetric functions in unbounded domains is obtained, in which we remarkably weaken the decay condition u → 0 at infinity and only assume its growth rate does not exceed | x | γ (0 < γ < 2 s ) compared with (Adv. Objectives: Long-term care of severe brain injury patients places a significant mental burden on family caregivers, yet few studies have reported the situation in China. We aimed to describe the mood states of family caregivers of patients with severe brain injury and examine the influencing factors that affect caregivers' moods. Methods: Cross-sectional survey was used to assess the mood profiles of Chinese family caregivers between February 2019 and February 2020. Demographic data of caregivers and patients, the Patient Health Questionnaire (PHQ-9) and the Generalized Anxiety Disorder scale (GAD-7) were used to assess the level of depressive and anxiety symptoms. The quality of life score was also assessed by a visual analog scale, and the Coma Recovery Scale-Revised was used to assess the patient's consciousness. Result: One hundred and one patients with severe brain injury (57 unresponsive wakefulness syndrome, UWS) between the age of 14 and 70 and their main family caregivers were enrolled in the study. Most caregivers displayed depressive (n = 62) and anxiety symptoms (n = 65), with 17 and 20 of these family caregivers reporting (moderately) severe depressive symptom and severe anxiety symptom, respectively. The caregiver's depressive symptom level significantly decreased as the patient's injury lasted longer (r = – 0.208, P = 0.037). Moreover, the age of the patient negatively related to the levels of depressive (r = – 0.310, P = 0.002) and anxiety symptoms (r = – 0.289, P = 0.003) in caregivers. There was a significant positive correlation between anxiety and depressive symptoms scores in family caregivers (r = 0.838, P < 0.001). The higher the level of anxiety (r = – 0.273, P = 0.006) and depressive symptoms (r = – 0.265, P = 0.007), the worse the quality of life. Conclusion: Many family caregivers of patients with severe brain injury experience various levels of anxiety and depressive symptoms in China. Tailor-made psychological help seems imperative. Researchers and doctors can provide information about patient's conditions to assist family members in discussing rehabilitation options for patients in different states of consciousness will help to ease anxiety of family caregivers. Selective absorptive nanofluid can pre-absorb certain sunlight wavelength that cannot be used by PV and transmits remaining sunlight to the surface of PV, which can decouple PV from the thermal receiver spatially. In order to improve the harvesting of electricity and high-temperature thermal nanofluid, it is important to design an optimal optical filter window (transmit sunlight with wavelengths of 732–1067 nm to the surface of the photovoltaic cell and absorb the remaining sunlight). However, designing optimal optical filter is facing following challenges: (1) inherently narrow selective absorptivity property of single nanoparticle; (2) simplified numerical calculation method calculating transmittance; (3) ignoring the shape of the nanoparticle. In this study, the idea of using multiple nanoparticles coupling effect to design an optical filter is proposed, which can superimpose the narrow absorption bandwidth of different nanoparticles to obtain a wide absorption bandwidth of the whole system. In addition, an improved transmission method considering light-matter interaction at air/vessel and liquid/vessel interfaces is adopted to compute the transmittance. The results calculated by improved transmission method are more accurate than widely used traditional Lambert-Beer law, which is verified by experimental test. Furthermore, the effect of nanoparticle shape on spectral transmittance is also investigated, which shows that spiny Ag can approximately extend absorbance from 400 nm to 600 nm compared to nanosphere silver. The high number of mutations that appeared in emerging variants not only enhanced their immune-escaping ability but also made it difficult to predict the pathogenicity and virulence based on viral nucleotide sequences. Molecular markers for evaluating the pathogenicity of new variants are therefore needed. By comparing host responses to wild-type and variants with attenuated pathogenicity at proteome and metabolome levels, six key molecules on the polyamine biosynthesis pathway including putrescine, SAM, dc-SAM, ODC1, SAMS, and SAMDC were found to be differentially upregulated and associated with pathogenicity of variants. To validate our discovery, human airway organoids were subsequently used which recapitulates SARS-CoV-2 replication in the airway epithelial cells of COVID-19 patients. Using ODC1 as a proof-of-concept, differential activation of polyamine biosynthesis was found to be modulated by the renin-angiotensin system (RAS) and positively associated with ACE2 activity. Further experiments demonstrated that ODC1 expression could be differentially activated upon a panel of SARS-CoV-2 variants of concern (VOCs) and was found to be correlated with each VOCs' pathogenic properties. Particularly, the presented study revealed the discriminative ability of key molecules on polyamine biosynthesis as a predictive marker for virulence evaluation and assessment of SARS-CoV-2 variants in cell or organoid models. Background: Animal studies demonstrated that deeper lesions could be achieved during radio-frequency catheter ablation (RFCA) by using half saline (HS) compared to normal saline (NS) as irrigation. Objectives: This study sought to compare the efficiency and safety of HS and NS for irrigation during RFCA of idiopathic outflow tract ventricular arrhythmia (OT-VA). Methods: In this multicenter, randomized controlled study, 167 patients undergoing RFCA of OT-VA were randomized 1:1 to receive HS- or NS-irrigated ablation. Acute success was defined as the absence of induced targeted premature ventricular contraction (PVC) at the end of the procedure. The 6-month success was defined as a ≥ 80% reduction of pre-procedural PVC burden. Results: There were no differences of baseline characteristics between the HS and NS group. Patients in HS group had shorter total ablation time (259.5 ± 155.5 S vs. 355.6 ± 230.7 S, P = 0.04) than that in NS group. The acute and 6-month success rates were similar between the HS and NS group (92.8 vs. 91.7%, P = 0.79; 90.9 vs. 92.1%, P = 0.79, respectively). No significant difference was observed in the incidence of steam pops between the HS and NS group (2.4 vs. 1.2%, P = 0.62). Conclusions: The ablation using HS irrigation achieved similar success rate and safety compared to that using NS irrigation but was associated with a shorter total ablation time. Background: Menarche is a substantial milestone of female puberty. Timing of age at menarche is considered the key to understanding the potential linkages with women's health outcomes later in life. This study aimed to explore the secular trends and urban‒rural disparities in the median age at menarche among Chinese Han girls from 1985 to 2019. Methods: Data were extracted from the 1985, 1995, 2005, 2014, and 2019 Chinese National Surveys on Students' Constitution and Health, which were nationally representative cross-sectional studies, and a total of 173,535 Han girls aged 9–18 years were examined. Girls were asked whether menarche had occurred. The median age at menarche was estimated by probit analysis. Z tests were used to compare the differences between survey years and between urban and rural areas. Results: The median age at menarche among Chinese Han girls decreased from 13.37 years in 1985 to 12.00 years in 2019, and the overall decrease was more significant in rural areas (1.77 years) than in urban areas (0.99 years). The average five-year change in the decrease in the median age at menarche showed an accelerating and then slowing pace; and it was observed similarly in both urban and rural areas. The urban‒rural disparities shrank from 0.64 years in 1985 to 0.44 years in 1995, then to 0.27 years in 2005, 0.24 years in 2014, and finally to − 0.14 years in 2019. Conclusions: The median age at menarche among Chinese Han girls continued to decline from 1985 to 2019 but at a slowing pace in the last five years. Urban‒rural disparities gradually narrowed. Over the past few years, network slicing has emerged as a pivotal component within the realm of 5G technology. It plays a critical role in effectively delineating network services based on a myriad of performance and operational requirements, all of which draw from a shared pool of common resources. The core objective of 5G technology is to facilitate simultaneous network slicing, thereby enabling the creation of multiple distinct end-to-end networks. This multiplicity of networks serves the paramount purpose of ensuring that the traffic within one network slice does not impede or adversely affect the traffic within another. Therefore, this paper proposes a Deep learning-based Multi Domain framework for end-to-end network slicing in traffic-aware prediction. The proposed method uses Deep Reinforcement Learning (DRL) for in-depth resource allocation analysis and improves the Quality of Service (QOS). The DRL-based Multi-domain framework provides traffic-aware prediction and enhances flexibility. We compared the protective effects of inactivated SARS-CoV-2 vaccines derived from the ancestral and the currently circulating BA.5.2 strains against infection with multiple variants in Syrian golden hamsters. Vaccination with BA.5.2 effectively protected against infection with the Omicron subvariants including XBB.1, but not the Alpha or Delta variant. In contrast, hamsters vaccinated with the ancestral strain demonstrated decent neutralization activity against both the Omicron and non-Omicron variants. Mucosal melanoma is a rare and highly malignant type of melanoma. Among the sites that mucosal melanoma arises, anorectal and gynecological melanoma has more aggressive behavior and worse prognosis. There was no effective therapy for mucosal melanoma at present. Only a small number of mucosal melanoma patients which harbor mutations in BRAF or KIT benefit from targeted therapy. So it's an urgent need to identify more actionable mutations in mucosal melanoma. To identify more potential therapeutic targets in mucosal melanoma, 48 samples were collected from 44 patients with anorectal or gynecological melanoma and subjected to whole-exome sequencing. The tumor mutation burden was low with a median of 1.75 mutations per Mb. In chromosomal level, 1q, 6p and 8q of mucosal melanoma were significantly amplified while 9p, 10p, 10q, 16p and 16q were significantly deleted. Muc16 was the most frequently mutated oncogene in our samples(25%). The mutation frequency of KIT(20%) was comparable to the "triple-wild" genes-NRAS(20%), NF1(20%), and BRAF(11%). KMT2D mutation was found in 18.18% patients, which is previously unidentified. MAPK signaling pathway and lysine degradation were the most frequently mutated pathways. Moreover, patients with TP53 mutations tend to have worse clinical outcome (median survival time 19 vs. 50 months, log-rank P = 0.006). 2000 ore mutated genes involved in MAPK signaling pathway were identified, which expand the patients potentially benefit from ample MAPK inhibitors. Background: The incidence rate of ovarian carcinoma (OC) is the third of the female reproductive system malignant tumors, while its mortality rate ranks first among causes of female reproductive system tumor related death in the world. Methods: In the present research, we investigated the specific role of LIMD2 through LIMD2 knockdown in OC cells. Results: The results of online analysis and expression detection proved that LIMD2 was up-regulated in human OC tissues and cells. Knockdown of LIMD2 inhibited the proliferation, migration and invasion in OC cells. LIMD2 knockdown promoted the apoptosis, as well as the expression of Cleaved-Caspase3 and Bax. Importantly, knockdown of LIMD2 promotes cell autophagy. LC3-II/I ratio and Beclin1 expression increased in LIMD2 knockdown cells, while P62 expression declined in LIMD2 knockdown cells. Additionally, the phosphorylation of ERK1/2 was inhibited by the knockdown of LIMD2 in SKOV3 and OVCAR3 cells. Conclusion: Knockdown of LIMD2 inhibits cell proliferation, migration, invasion and autophagy, and promotes the apoptosis through the ERK1/2 signaling pathway, suggesting that LIMD2-siRNA may be an effective molecule to prevent OC progression. Life satisfaction is a widely-shared goal and a core theme in the field of positive psychology. From the perspective of personality, some researchers have focused on the relationship between narcissism and life satisfaction, but there is a lack of research on the underlying process between them. This study aimed to examine the relationship between narcissism and life satisfaction based on the narcissistic admiration and rivalry concept (NARC) model and explored the mediating roles of general trust and positive emotions. In addition, to avoid confusion between the concepts of narcissism and self-esteem, this study measured and controlled for self-esteem in the mediation model test. In the current study, college students completed the Narcissistic Admiration and Rivalry Questionnaire, General Trust Scale, Positive Emotions of Scale of Positive and Negative Experience Scale, Satisfaction with Life Scale, and Rosenberg Self-esteem Scale. Ultimately, a total of 912 participants were analyzed, including 398 males (43.6%) and 506 females (55.5%) (Mage = 19.58 years, SD = 1.35 years). The results showed that narcissistic admiration had a positive indirect effect on life satisfaction, while narcissistic rivalry had a negative indirect effect on life satisfaction. General trust and positive emotions were two mediators of the relationship between narcissism and life satisfaction. These findings suggest that different dimensions of narcissism have different effects on life satisfaction. Our findings have significant practical and theoretical implications for enhancing the life satisfaction of individuals with narcissistic tendencies. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Purpose: To analyze the predictive value of clinical and ultrasound parameters for treatment failure after administration of methotrexate (MTX) in combination with suction curettage (SC) in treatment of cesarean scar pregnancy (CSP) in the early first trimester. Methods: In this retrospective cohort study, electronic medical records of patients diagnosed with CSP and initially treated between 2015 and 2022 with MTX combined with SC were reviewed and outcome data were collected. Results: 127 patients met inclusion criteria. 25 (19.69%) required additional treatment. Logistic regression analysis indicated that factors independently associated with the need for additional treatment included progesterone level > 25 mIU/mL (OR: 1.97; 95% CI: 0.98–2.87, P = 0.039), abundant blood flow (OR: 5.19; 95% CI: 2.44–16.31, P = 0.011), gestational sac size > 3 cm (OR: 2.54; 95% CI: 1.12–6.87, P = 0.029), and the myometrial thickness between the bladder and gestational sac < 2.5 mm (OR: 3.48; 95% CI: 1.91–6.98, P = 0.015). Conclusions: Our study identified several factors which increase the need for additional treatment following the initial treatment of CSP with MTX and SC. This research undertook a case study of the life-cycle assessment and techno-economic analysis of the slow pyrolysis of Eucommia stem for the production of wood vinegar and activated carbon. The results showed that the production of one ton of wood vinegar via the slow pyrolysis of Eucommia stem show comparatively low global warming potential (2.37 × 102 kg CO2 eq), primary energy demand (3.16 × 103 MJ), acidification potential (2.19 kg SO2 eq), antimony depletion potential (3.86 × 10−4 kg antimony eq), and ozone depletion potential (7.46 × 10−6 kg CFC-11 eq) and was more environmentally friendly than the production of dilute acetic acid (12 wt %) via petrochemical routes. Meanwhile, the total capital investment, total product cost, and cash flowsheet were provided in the techno-economic analysis. Then, the net present value, internal rate of return, and dynamic payback period of the production process were evaluated. The findings indicated that while this production process is cost-effective, it might not be economically attractive or could generate investment risks. Detecting the organ boundary in an ultrasound image is challenging because of the poor contrast of ultrasound images and the existence of imaging artifacts. In this study, we developed a coarse-to-refinement architecture for multi-organ ultrasound segmentation. First, we integrated the principal curve–based projection stage into an improved neutrosophic mean shift–based algorithm to acquire the data sequence, for which we utilized a limited amount of prior seed point information as the approximate initialization. Second, a distribution-based evolution technique was designed to aid in the identification of a suitable learning network. Then, utilizing the data sequence as the input of the learning network, we achieved the optimal learning network after learning network training. Finally, a scaled exponential linear unit–based interpretable mathematical model of the organ boundary was expressed via the parameters of a fraction-based learning network. The experimental outcomes indicated that our algorithm 1) achieved more satisfactory segmentation outcomes than state-of-the-art algorithms, with a Dice score coefficient value of 96.68 ± 2.2%, a Jaccard index value of 95.65 ± 2.16%, and an accuracy of 96.54 ± 1.82% and 2) discovered missing or blurry areas. Project-based learning (PBL) has been identified as an effective pedagogy for instructors to help students to learn interdisciplinary knowledge, problem-solving skills, modes of thinking, and collaborative practices through solving problems in a real-world context. However, previous studies reported that instructors from K-12 to tertiary learning environments found it challenging to implement such a pedagogy for various reasons. The emergence of PBL E-learning platforms in the recent decade has attracted increasing interest in adoption and seems to provide a solution to tackle the difficulties in PBL implementation. Yet little is known about designing these platforms and how they facilitate the PBL learning process and management. In the current study, we conducted a multiple case survey study on 16 PBL learning platforms in English and Chinese, collected data on their features and functions, categorized them according to their services provided, and analyzed how they tackle the implementation challenges. Additionally, we identified four trends in PBL development as pedagogy, the skills, and competence required for teachers and students to successfully carry out PBL via e-learning platforms and provide suggestions to improve and refine the platform design for educational technologists and related stakeholders. Online education has made it possible to implement the "classes suspended but learning continues" policy during the COVID-19 outbreak. However, the intangible sense of the online educational setting requires self-directed learning (SDL) and may force students to know the goals of learning that may impact their engagement. To understand the effect, based on situated expectancy-value theory, this study considered SDL as attitude and approach and constructed a research model to explore the mediating power of perceived value of knowing learning goals (PVKLG) related to participants' online learning engagement during the COVID-19 lockdown. Data were collected from 497 higher education students in China. After the confirmatory factor analysis with structural equation modeling, the results reported that SDL attitude and approach positively predicted learning engagement mediated by PVKLG. The results suggest that only when students have a high level of PVKLG will they be able to regulate their learning process through the two types of SDL and enhance their engagement in online learning contexts during the COVID-19 lockdown. A Gram-stain negative, strictly aerobic, and rod-shaped bacterium, designated as strain L182T, was isolated from coastal sediment in Beihai, Guangxi Province, PR China. Colonies of strain L182T were yellow, 2 mm in diameter, round, opaque, smooth and convex after incubation on marine ager at 30 °C for 3 days. Cells were catalase-positive but oxidase-negative. Growth of strain L182T was observed at 4–40 °C (optimum, 25 °C), pH 5.5–10.0 (optimum, pH 5.5–8.0) and with 0–6% (w/v) NaCl (optimum, 0.5–4.0%). The G + C content based on the genome sequence was 36.0%. The only respiratory quinone was MK-6. The main polar lipids included phosphatidylethanolamine, phosphatidylglycerol, one unidentified aminophospholipid, one unidentified glycolipids, four unidentified aminolipids and six unidentified lipids. The major fatty acids (> 10%) were iso-C15:0, iso-C15:1 G and iso-C17:0 3-OH. The 16S rRNA gene sequence similarity between strain L182T and Aestuariibaculum suncheonense SC17T was 98.2%, and the similarities with other type strains of the genus Aestuariibaculum were 96.1–97.2%. The average nucleotide identity and in silicon DNA–DNA hybridization values between the strain L182T and its closely related Aestuariibaculum species were 80.8–85.2% and 22.0–29.5%. In the current paper, the best linear unbiased estimators (BLUEs) of location and scale parameters from location-scale family will be respectively proposed in cases when one parameter is known and when both are unknown under moving extremes ranked set sampling (MERSS). Explicit mathematical expressions of these estimators and their variances are derived. Their relative efficiencies with respect to the minimum variance unbiased estimators (MVUEs) under simple random sampling (SRS) are compared for the cases of some usual distributions. The new paradigm approaches to technology-enhanced feedback (TEF) have piqued the interest of educators seeking to shift away from feedback monologic processing and toward feedback dialogic exchange. The way teachers demonstrate constructive TEF behaviours for their students is essential to the development of students' feedback literacy. However, there is a general lack of multidimensional theoretical conceptualisation for understanding, and instrumentation for measuring teacher TEF literacy. To fill this gap in the literature, this study designed and empirically validated a teacher TEF literacy scale (TTLS) using exploratory factor analysis and confirmatory factor analysis on two distinct samples of teacher participants chosen at random. A total of 632 school teachers from throughout most of China, with a variety of subject backgrounds, participated in this study. The results show that the TTLS' three-factor structure is valid and reliable. To provide supplementary evidence of structural validity, the status quo of TEF literacy among primary and secondary school teachers in China was tested, and a discipline variation in teacher TEF literacy was identified, as hypothesised. Key message: We fine mapped RHT26 for plant height in wheat, confirmed its genetic effects in a panel of wheat cultivars and predicted candidate genes. Development of wheat cultivars with appropriate plant height (PH) is an important goal in breeding. Utilization of semi-dwarfing genes Rht-B1b and Rht-D1b triggered wheat Green Resolution in the 1960s. Since these genes also bring unfavorable features, such as reduced coleoptile length and grain weight, it is necessary to identify alternative reduced height genes without yield penalty. Here we constructed a high-density genetic map of a recombinant inbred line population derived from the cross of Zhongmai175 and Lunxuan987 and detected a stable genetic locus for PH, designated RHT26, on chromosome arm 3DL in all of six environments, accounting for 6.8–14.0% of the phenotypic variances. RHT26 was delimited to an approximate 1.4 Mb physical interval (517.1–518.5 Mb) using secondary mapping populations derived from 22 heterozygous recombinant plants and 24 kompetitive allele-specific PCR markers. Eleven high-confidence genes were annotated in the physical interval according to the Chinese Spring reference genome, and four of them were predicted as candidates for RHT26 based on genome and transcriptome sequencing analyses. We also confirmed that RHT26 had significant effects on PH, but not grain yield in a panel of wheat cultivars; its dwarfing allele has been frequently used in wheat breeding. The toxic effects of cadmium and lead exposure on parathyroid function have been investigated extensively while the results were conflicting. We aimed to investigate the association of blood cadmium and lead with serum parathyroid hormone (PTH) based on the general population. We analyzed a sample of 9400 adults aged 18 years or older from the US National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey 2003–2004 to 2005–2006. We estimated the association using multivariable linear regression analysis by taking cadmium and lead as a continuous or quartile variable. Restricted cubic splines were utilized to explore the non-linear relationship between cadmium or lead and PTH. The median blood cadmium and lead levels were 0.34 µg/L and 1.43 µg/dL, respectively. Cadmium was significantly associated with PTH when taken as a continuous variable [Odds ratio (OR): 0.97; 95% confidence interval (95% CI): 0.95–0.99] or a quartile variable (fourth vs first quartile, OR: 0.94; 95% CI: 0.91–0.97). Lead was significantly associated with PTH when taken as a continuous variable (OR: 1.04; 95% CI: 1.02–1.07) or a quartile variable (fourth vs first quartile, OR: 1.06; 95% CI: 1.01–1.10). P values for non-linearity were all less than 0.05. The association between cadmium and PTH was not significant in females. Cadmium was negatively associated with PTH, and lead was positively associated with PTH both in a non-linear manner among the general population. Lingzhu Pulvis are widely used in clinical practice because of their therapeutic effects, but their stability and efficacy are affected by the easy oxidation and volatility of Acorus calamus. In this study, we combined the idea of "combination of medicine and adjuvant" and introduced Pickering emulsion technology to use the ingredients of Lingzhu Pulvis as the stabilizer of Pickering emulsion. Pearl powder was selected as the stabilizer by the type of emulsion formation and the state of emulsion layer, and the optimal preparation method was 0.065 g·ml− 1 of pearl powder and 45% oil, prepared using high-pressure homogenization method (500 bar, three times). The malondialdehyde and peroxide contents in the crude oil and Pickering emulsion groups were analyzed under different pH environments, and it was clear that the Pickering emulsion group possessed higher antioxidant properties. The volatile oil of Acorus calamus in different groups was analyzed using GC-MS, and seven differential components were screened by processing the analytical data with R language, which were further determined that the differential components changed more slowly and had significantly improved stability in the Pickering emulsion group. Chromosome segregation is initiated by cohesin degradation, which is driven by anaphase-promoting complex/cyclosome (APC/C). Chromosome cohesin is removed by activated separase, with the degradation of securin and cyclinB1. Dynamin-related protein 1 (DRP1), a component of the mitochondrial fission machinery, is related to cyclin dynamics in mitosis progression. Here, we show that DRP1 is recruited to the kinetochore by centromeric Centromere protein F (CENP-F) after nuclear envelope breakdown in mouse oocytes. Loss of DRP1 during prometaphase leads to premature cohesin degradation and chromosome segregation. Importantly, acute DRP1 depletion activates separase by initiating cyclinB1 and securin degradation during the metaphase-to-anaphase transition. Finally, we demonstrate that DRP1 is bound to APC2 to restrain the E3 ligase activity of APC/C. In conclusion, DRP1 is a CENP-F-dependent atypical spindle assembly checkpoint (SAC) protein that modulates metaphase-to-anaphase transition by controlling APC/C activity during meiosis I in oocytes.
