Multi-material additive manufacturing (MMAM) is garnering escalating interest. Yet, joining dissimilar materials faces formidable challenges due to solubility limitations and divergences in thermophysical properties. Taking the joining of high-strength steel (HSS) and Ti6Al4V (TC4) as an example, this work seeks to address various challenges encountered in MMAM. An exhaustive inquiry was undertaken to scrutinize the effects of various joining strategies (direct joining, composition gradient paths, and interlayer strategy) and deposition strategies (deposition sequence, interlayer thickness, and process parameters) on the AM-induced bonding of HSS to TC4. The findings demonstrate that these advanced strategic designs can effectively mitigate challenges arising from disparities in material compatibility and thermophysical properties between HSS and TC4. Leveraging rigorous thermodynamic analyses and the strategic orchestration of building techniques, three HSS–Cu10Sn–Nb–TC4 samples were successfully fabricated via laser-directed energy deposition (LDED), each manifesting tensile strengths exceeding 200 MPa. This achievement heralds a notable leap forward in the amalgamation of materials, particularly high-strength steel and titanium alloys, which could provide valuable insights into other MMAM structures. Crocetin as one of the main components of saffron possesses a lot of pharmacological effects, especially the beneficial effects in the treatment of hyperlipidemia. However, the pharmacokinetics of crocetin in the pathological state of hyperlipidemia has not been reported. In present study, the pharmacokinetics of crocetin in hyperlipidemia rats after oral administration of crocetin was investigated and the possible mechanisms for the pharmacokinetics were explored. High-fat diet was used to induce hyperlipidemia in rats. The pharmacokinetics of crocetin was investigated in hyperlipidemia and normal rats after oral and intravenous administration of crocetin, and the possible mechanisms of the pharmacokinetic changes were investigated in terms of metabolism and absorption using in vitro incubation with liver microsomes and the everted gut sac method, respectively. Results indicated that the AUCs of crocetin in hyperlipidemia rats after oral administration of crocetin were remarkably decreased when compared with those in normal rats. Moreover, crocetin was also metabolized more rapidly in the liver microsomes of hyperlipidemia rats and intestinal absorption of crocetin was significantly reduced in hyperlipidemia rats. It suggested that the remarkably decreased AUCs of crocetin in hyperlipidemia rats might partly result from the result of faster metabolic elimination and reduced absorption of crocetin in the hyperlipidemia pathological state. And the present investigations conducted on rats demonstrate that further investigations into the kinetics of crocetin in humans with hyperlipidemia are necessary in order to ensure an adequate dosage in this indication. Herein, we introduced a nitrogen-alkali lignin-doped phenolic resin (N@ALnPR) to produce palladium nanoparticles through an in situ reduction of palladium in an aqueous phase, without the need for additional reagents or a reducing atmosphere. The phenolic resin nanospheres and the resulting palladium nanoparticles were extensively characterized. Alkali lignin created a highly conducive environment for nitrogen incorporation, dispersion, reduction, and stabilization of palladium, leading to a distinct catalytic performance of palladium nanoparticles in vanillin hydrodeoxygenation. Under specific conditions of 1 mmol of vanillin, 40 mg of catalyst, 1 MPa H2, 90 °C, and 3 h, the optimized Pd/N@AL30PR catalyst exhibited a nearly complete conversion of vanillin, 98.9% selectivity toward p-creosol, and good stability for multiple reuses. The achievement of valuable utilization of lignin will greatly alleviate the energy crisis. In this study, a series of supported bimetallic catalysts (NixZn1−x/ZrO2-MgO) were prepared and their physicochemical properties were investigated by means of SEM, XRD, XPS, BET, NH3-TPD, and H2-TPR analysis. This paper explored the effects of different Ni/Zn ratios, reaction temperatures (180 ~ 240 °C), and reaction time (2, 4, 6, and 8 h) on alkali lignin catalytic hydrogenolysis. The results showed that the highest bio-oil yield gained was 65.22 wt% under the conditions of Ni0.75Zn0.25/ZrO2-MgO catalyst at 240 °C for 6 h. The component of lignin-derived bio-oils was also analyzed qualitatively and quantitatively by GC/MS and GC/FID, respectively. It was demonstrated that the synergistic effect between Ni and Zn species contributed to the prepared catalyst having a high activity and good selectivities for phenolic compounds with a yield of 13.22 wt%. In addition, formic acid was the primary hydrogen donor in the system and isopropanol was the reaction medium as well as the secondary hydrogen donor, which facilitated the reduction of external H2 supply requirements. The catalytic stability was finally tested, and results indicated that Ni0.75Zn0.25/ZrO2-MgO still retained good catalytic performance after five cycles. By optimizing the reaction conditions and proposing the possible depolymerization route, this paper will provide an experimental basis for lignin catalytic hydrogenolysis and reliable reference for valorizing industrial lignin to value-added chemicals based on non-noble metal catalysts. Esophageal pressure (Peso) is one of the most common and minimally invasive methods used to assess the respiratory and lung mechanics in patients receiving mechanical ventilation. However, the Peso measurement is contaminated by cardiogenic oscillations (CGOs), which cannot be easily eliminated in real-time. The field of study dealing with the elimination of CGO from Peso signals is still in the early stages of its development. In this study, we present an adaptive filtering-based method by constructing a reference signal based on the heart rate and sine function to remove CGOs in real-time. The proposed technique is tested using clinical data acquired from 20 patients admitted to the intensive care unit. Lung compliance (QUOTE) and esophageal pressure swings (△Pes) are used to evaluate the performance and efficiency of the proposed technique. The CGO can be efficiently suppressed when the constructional reference signal contains the fundamental, and second and third harmonic frequencies of the heart rate signal. The analysis of the data of 8 patients with controlled mechanical ventilation reveals that the standard deviation/mean of the QUOTE is reduced by 28.4–79.2% without changing the QUOTE and the △Pes measurement is more accurate, with the use of our proposed technique. Eicosapentaenoic acid (EPA) is a vital ɷ-3 polyunsaturated fatty acid (PUFA) for human body with various physiological functions. In this study, we proposed an adaptive evolutionary strategy based on high-temperature and high-oxygen two-factor stress to increase the EPA production capacity of Schizochytrium. High-temperature stress was used to increase EPA yield, and high oxygen was implemented to continuously stimulate cell growth and lipid accumulation. The biomass and EPA production of ALE-D50 reached 35.33 g/L and 1.54 g/L, which were 43.85% and 71.11% higher than that of the original strain, respectively. Lower in vivo reactive oxygen species levels indicated that the evolved strain possessed stronger antioxidant activity. Liquid chromatography–mass spectrometry metabolomics showed that enhanced glucose consumption and glycolysis metabolism, as well as a weakened tricarboxylic acid cycle and reduced amino acid metabolic tributaries in the evolved strain, might be associated with increased growth and EPA synthesis. Finally, the lipid production and EPA production in a fed-batch fermentation were further increased to 48.93 g/L and 3.55 g/L, improving by 54.30% and 90.86%, respectively. Global riverine nitrous oxide (N2O) emissions have increased more than 4-fold in the last century. It has been estimated that the hyporheic zones in small streams alone may contribute approximately 85% of these N2O emissions. However, the mechanisms and pathways controlling hyporheic N2O production in stream ecosystems remain unknown. Here, we report that ammonia-derived pathways, rather than the nitrate-derived pathways, are the dominant hyporheic N2O sources (69.6 ± 2.1%) in agricultural streams around the world. The N2O fluxes are mainly in positive correlation with ammonia. The potential N2O metabolic pathways of metagenome-assembled genomes (MAGs) provides evidence that nitrifying bacteria contain greater abundances of N2O production-related genes than denitrifying bacteria. Taken together, this study highlights the importance of mitigating agriculturally derived ammonium in low-order agricultural streams in controlling N2O emissions. Global models of riverine ecosystems need to better represent ammonia-derived pathways for accurately estimating and predicting riverine N2O emissions. NH4+-derived pathways, rather than NO3--derived pathway, are the dominant hyporheic N2O sources in lower-order streams. Purpose: This study aimed to investigate the correlation between chromosomal abnormalities in spontaneous abortion with clinical features and seek copy number variations (CNVs) and genes that might be connected to spontaneous abortion. Methods: Over 7 years, we used CNV-seq and STR analysis to study POCs, comparing chromosomal abnormalities with clinical features and identifying critical CNVs and genes associated with spontaneous abortion. Results: Total chromosomal variants in the POCs were identified in 66.8% (2169/3247) of all cases, which included 45.2% (1467/3247) numerical abnormalities and 21.6% (702/3247) copy number variants (CNVs). Chromosome number abnormalities, especially aneuploidy abnormalities, were more pronounced in the group of mothers aged ≥ 35 years, the early miscarriage group, and the chorionic villi group. We further analyzed 212 pathogenic and likely pathogenic CNVs in 146 POCs as well as identified 8 statistically significant SORs through comparison with both a healthy population and a group of non-spontaneously aborted fetuses. Our analysis suggests that these CNVs may play a crucial role in spontaneous abortion. Furthermore, by utilizing the RVIS score and MGI database, we identified 86 genes associated with spontaneous abortion, with particular emphasis on PARP6, ISLR, ULK3, FGFRL1, TBC1D14, SCRIB, and PLEC. Conclusion: We found variability in chromosomal abnormalities across clinical features, identifying eight crucial copy number variations (CNVs) and multiple key genes that may be linked to spontaneous abortion. Biogenic volatile organic compounds have promising applications in controlling fungal spoilage of postharvest agro-products and perishable foods. In a previous study, we discovered that the plant volatile 1-octanol showed considerable potential for controlling Aspergillus flavus growth. In this study, the inhibitory effects of 1-octanol on the germination of A. flavus spores were investigated. A. flavus spores did not germinate when exposed to 1.5 µL/mL 1-octanol, and 3.5 µL/mL 1-octanol caused spore death. Biochemical analysis showed that 1-octanol caused a decrease in ergosterol and ATP content, and an increase in hydrogen peroxide and superoxide anion content in a dose-dependent manner. Transcriptomic analysis demonstrated that there were 4117 differentially-expressed genes in A. flavus spores exposed to 1.5 µL/mL 1-octanol, mainly enriched in metabolic pathways, steroid biosynthesis, secondary metabolite biosynthesis, ribosomes, glutathione metabolism, the mitogen-activated protein kinases signaling pathway, and pyruvate metabolism. Flow cytometry results showed that 1-octanol treatment resulted in hyperpolarization of the mitochondrial membrane potential, accumulation of reactive oxygen species, and apoptosis. TdT-mediated dUTP nick end labeling/4′,6-diamidino-2-phenylindole double staining and monodansylcadaverine staining results indicated that 1-octanol treatment resulted in DNA fragmentation and induced autophagy, respectively. These results provide new insights into the inhibitory mechanism of 1-octanol on A. flavus spore gemination and would facilitate the application of 1-octanol for the protection of postharvest agricultural products. Frequency domain terahertz spectroscopy usually requires frequency scanning, which is quite time-consuming. In this work, we propose a new method to measure the terahertz spectra without scanning, which is based on a terahertz parametric generator and up-conversion detection system. Comparison is made between the terahertz transmission spectra measured by this method and by terahertz time domain spectroscopy (THz-TDS). In the range of 1 to 3 THz, all the absorption peaks observed on the THz-TDS spectra are also found on the spectra obtained by our method. Purpose: This paper explores the causes of paediatric inguinal hernia (PIH) recurrence after single-port laparoscopic percutaneous extraperitoneal closure (SPLPEC). Method: From January 2015 to December 2020, the clinical data of 3480 children with PIHs who underwent SPLPEC were retrospectively reviewed, including 644 children who underwent SPLPEC with a homemade single-hook hernia needle from January 2015 to December 2016 and 2836 children who underwent the SPLPEC with a double-hook hernia needle and hydrodissection from January 2017 to December 2020. There were 39 recurrences (including communicating hydrocele) during the 2–5 years of follow-up. The findings of redo-laparoscopy were recorded and correlated with the revised video of the first operation to analyse the causes of recurrence. Result: Thirty-three males and 6 females experienced recurrence, and 8 patients had a unilateral communicating hydrocele. The median time to recurrence was 7.1 months (0–38). There were 20 cases (3.11%) in the single-hook group and 19 cases (0.67%) in the double-hook group. Based on laparoscopic findings, recurrence most probably resulted from multiple factors, including uneven tension of the ligation (10 cases), missing part of the peritoneum (14 cases), loose ligation (8 cases), broken knot (5 cases), and knot reaction (2 cases). All children who underwent repeat SPLPEC were cured by double ligations or reinforcement with medial umbilical ligament. Conclusion: The main cause of recurrence is improper ligation. Tension-free and complete PIH ligation are critical to the success of surgery, which requires avoiding the peritoneum skip area and the subcutaneous and muscular tissues. Redo-laparoscopic surgery was suitable for the treatment of recurrent inguinal hernia (RIH). In cement industry, the selection of catalyst temperature window and the inhibition effect of dust composition in flue gas on catalyst are the key issues of flue gas denitrification. In this article, a pilot study with Ce doped V-W/Ti catalyst on the removal of NOx by selective catalytic reduction with ammonia (NH3-SCR) from the cement kiln flue gas was presented. Cement kiln dust loading on catalysts obviously decreased the NO conversion in the absence of SO2 and H2O, while the denitration efficiency restored from 75 to 98% at 280 ℃ after SO2 and H2O introduced into the reaction system, which mainly because the SO2 may enhance the acidic site on the catalyst surface, and prefer to be bonded with the coordinated Ca species, releasing the active sites poisoned by dust. The NH3-temperature programmed desorption (NH3-TPD), X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS), and H2-temperature programmed reduction (H2-TPR) detections were performed to reveal that the appropriate Ce and W ratios catalyst contributed better denitrification activity. The optimum ratio of Ce doped catalyst was amplified to form the standard honeycomb monomer catalyst, and then, the activity of catalyst was verified on the side line of cement kiln. The effect of temperature and space velocity on denitrification efficiency was investigated, and the denitration efficiency reached to 92.5% at 300℃ and 3000 h−1 space velocity. Moreover, the life of catalyst was verified and predicted by GM (1,1) grey model. The study realized the innovation from the laboratory data rules to the industrial pilot application, providing positive promoting value for the industrial large-scale demonstration application of the catalyst. Purpose: To assess the associations of corneal biomechanical properties as measured by the Corvis ST with refractive errors and ocular biometry in an unselected sample of young adults. Methods: A total of 1645 healthy university students underwent corneal biomechanical parameters measurement by the Corvis ST. The refractive status of the participants was measured using an autorefractor without cycloplegia. Ocular biometric parameters were measured using the IOL Master. Results: After adjusting for the effect of age, sex, biomechanical-corrected intraocular pressure and central corneal thickness, axial length was significantly associated with A1 velocity (A1v, β = -10.47), A2 velocity (A2v, β = 4.66), A2 deflection amplitude (A2DeflA, β = -6.02), HC deflection amplitude (HC-DeflA, β = 5.95), HC peak distance (HC-PD, β = 2.57), deformation amplitude ratio max (DA Rmax, β = -0.36), Ambrósio′s relational thickness to the horizontal profile (ARTh, β = 0.002). For axial length / corneal radius ratio, only A1v (β = -2.01), A1 deflection amplitude (A1DeflA, β = 2.30), HC-DeflA (β = 1.49), HC-PD (β = -0.21), DA Rmax (β = 0.07), stress–strain index (SSI, β = -0.29), ARTh (β < 0.001) were significant associates. A1v (β = 23.18), HC-DeflA (β = -15.36), HC-PD (β = 1.27), DA Rmax (β = -0.66), SSI (β = 3.53), ARTh (β = -0.02) were significantly associated with spherical equivalent. Conclusion: Myopic eyes were more likely to have more deformable corneas and corneas in high myopia were easier to deform and were even softer compared with those in the mild/moderate myopia. To reduce the fire risk of epoxy (EP) resin, a renewable lignin-based flame retardant functionalized with a metal–organic framework (MOF) HKUST-1 (Cu3(BTC)2, BTC = benzene-1,3,5-tricarboxylate) was prepared by a facile and green method. The chemical structure of flame retardant was characterized by Fourier transform infrared (FTIR) spectroscopy, X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS), X-ray diffraction (XRD) and scanning electron microscopy (SEM). The results showed that HKUST-1 was in-situ grown on the surface of phosphorus/nitrogen modified lignin, which was treated as an efficient flame retardant (termed PN-lignin@HKUST-1) for subsequent EP resin. The flame-retardant properties of EP composites were evaluated by the limiting oxygen index (LOI), vertical burning (UL-94), and cone calorimetry tests. As compared with neat EP thermoset, the presence of 15 mass% PN-lignin@HKUST-1 increased the LOI value from 28.5 to 33.2% and upgraded the UL-94 rating from V-2 to V-0. Besides, the peak heat release rate (PHRR) and total heat release (THR) were reduced by 41.2 and 33.8%, respectively. Observations of char residues could indicate that addition of PN-lignin@HKUST-1 contributes to a compact and dense char layer, which blocks the release and transfer of heat and harmful gases during combustion. Bile duct tumor thrombosis (BDTT) is a complication mostly observed in patients with advanced hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC), causing jaundice and associated with poor clinical outcome. However, its underlying molecular mechanism is unclear. Here, we develop spontaneous preclinical HCC animal models with BDTT to identify the role of BMI1 expressing tumor initiating cells (BMI1high TICs) in inducing BDTT. BMI1 overexpression transforms liver progenitor cells into BMI1high TICs, which possess strong tumorigenicity and increased trans-intrahepatic biliary epithelial migration ability by secreting lysosomal cathepsin B (CTSB). Orthotopic liver implantation of BMI1high TICs into mice generates tumors and triggers CTSB mediated bile duct invasion to form tumor thrombus, while CTSB inhibitor treatment prohibits BDTT and extends mouse survival. Clinically, the elevated serum CTSB level determines BDTT incidence in HCC patients. Mechanistically, BMI1 epigenetically up-regulates CTSB secretion in TICs by repressing miR-218-1-3p expression. These findings identify a potential diagnostic and therapeutic target for HCC patients with BDTT. Liver cirrhosis is a confirmed risk factor for poor prognosis of stroke; however, the contribution of clinically inapparent liver fibrosis to cardioembolic stroke (CES) and its outcomes are poorly understood. This study aimed to investigate the associations between liver fibrosis—measured by the Fibrosis-4 (FIB-4) score—and stroke severity and short-term clinical outcomes of patients with acute CES due to nonvalvular atrial fibrillation (NVAF). A total of 522 patients were followed for a median of 90 days. We calculated the FIB-4 score and defined liver fibrosis as follows: likely advanced fibrosis (FIB-4 > 3.25), indeterminate advanced fibrosis (FIB-4, 1.45–3.25), and unlikely advanced fibrosis (FIB-4 < 1.45). Logistic regression analysis and Cox regression analysis were used to investigate the relations between the FIB-4 score and stroke severity, major disability at discharge, and all-cause mortality. Among these 522 acute CES patients with NVAF, the mean FIB-4 score (2.28) on admission reflected intermediate fibrosis, whereas liver enzymes were largely normal. In multivariate regression analysis, patients with advanced liver fibrosis were more likely to have a higher risk of severe stroke (OR = 2.21, 95% CI 1.04–3.54), major disability at discharge (OR = 4.59, 95% CI 1.88–11.18), and all-cause mortality (HR = 1.25, 95% CI 1.10–1.56) than their counterparts. Regarding sex, these associations were stronger in males but not significant in females. In patients with acute CES due to NVAF, advanced liver fibrosis is associated with severe stroke, major disability, and all-cause death. Our findings indicate that early screening and management of liver fibrosis may decrease stroke severity and risk of death in patients with NVAF, especially for male patients. Photocatalysis has attracted much attention because it can decompose water to produce hydrogen or reduce carbon dioxide to CH3OH, CH4 or other chemical materials. In this study, the MnFe2O4/g-C3N4 composite was fabricated by the co-precipitation method. Various techniques were used to characterize the MnFe2O4/g-C3N4 composite, including, FT-IR, Raman, XRD, SEM, EDS, and UV–Vis. Under UV light, the catalytic performance of MnFe2O4/g-C3N4 was tested by decomposing rhodamine B (Rh B). According to the findings, the catalyst is a typical spinel structure material with an excellent light response in 250–800 nm wavelength. The MnFe2O4/g-C3N4 composite catalyst can degrade over 82% of Rh B in 150 min. Cyclic experiments show that MnFe2O4/g-C3N4 has long-term stability for Rh B. Because of its heterojunction structure, photogenerated electrons from g-C3N4 surfaces may easily move to MnFe2O4, which can substantially increase photoelectron-hole pair separation. The exploration on effective pathways for catalytic conversion of lignin (which is the most abundant and renewable natural bio-aromatic resource) into high-value chemicals (e.g., aromatic hydrocarbons and phenols) has attracted wide interests both in industrial and in scientific fields. By unleashing the potential of lignin to replace the utilization of fossil-derived resource for producing high-value chemicals, it can extremely improve lignin valorization and relieve the energy shortage caused by excessive consumption of traditional fossil-derived resource. However, achieving efficient lignin conversion has still been a challenge due to its structural complexity and stability. Ni-based catalysts consisting of active metal Ni and various functional supports have been broadly researched due to their inherent superiority in cost and outstanding performance in catalytic activity. Therefore, this review is dedicated to summarizing the recent progress of catalytic conversion of lignin (or lignin-derived model compounds) over Ni-based catalysts, including monometallic and bimetallic supported catalysts. Bacterial communities play an important role in the carbon cycle of freshwater ecosystems. In order to understand the influencing factors of bacterial community in the process of carbon cycle and search for measures to reduce carbon emissions, Chongqing central city section of the Yangtze River and its tributaries were selected to be the study area in this research. High-throughput sequencing was applied to study aerobic oxidation of methane bacteria (MOB) in sampling area. The results showed that there were spatial differences in the community diversity of aerobic MOB in the Yangtze River in central Chongqing. The Shannon index in the sediment (2.389–2.728) was higher than that in the water (1.820–2.458), and the community diversity in the middle reaches of the main river was higher than that in the upstream and the downstream. The aerobic MOB community was mainly dominated by Type II (Methylocystis). Most of operational taxonomic units (OTUs) in the top ten had high homology with MOB from river and lake sediments, and a few OTUs had high homology with MOB from paddy fields, forests and wetland soils. The main environmental factors affecting the community structure of aerobic MOB were NH4+-N, dissolved oxygen (DO), temperature (T, p ≤ 0.001), pH (p ≤ 0.05), methane (CH4) and carbon dioxide (CO2). Bats are reservoir hosts for many zoonotic viruses. Despite this, relatively little is known about the diversity and abundance of viruses within individual bats, and hence the frequency of virus co-infection and spillover among them. We characterize the mammal-associated viruses in 149 individual bats sampled from Yunnan province, China, using an unbiased meta-transcriptomics approach. This reveals a high frequency of virus co-infection (simultaneous infection of bat individuals by multiple viral species) and spillover among the animals studied, which may in turn facilitate virus recombination and reassortment. Of note, we identify five viral species that are likely to be pathogenic to humans or livestock, based on phylogenetic relatedness to known pathogens or in vitro receptor binding assays. This includes a novel recombinant SARS-like coronavirus that is closely related to both SARS-CoV and SARS-CoV-2. In vitro assays indicate that this recombinant virus can utilize the human ACE2 receptor such that it is likely to be of increased emergence risk. Our study highlights the common occurrence of co-infection and spillover of bat viruses and their implications for virus emergence. Viral diversity and abundance in bats are incompletely understood. In vitro intestinal epithelium models have drawn great attention to investigating intestinal biology in recent years. However, the difficulty to maintain the normal physiological status of primary intestinal epithelium in vitro limits the applications. Here, we designed patterned electrospun polylactic acid (PLA) nanofibrous membranes with crypt-like topography and mimic ECM fibrous network to support crypt culture and construct in vitro intestinal epithelium models. The patterned electrospun PLA nanofibrous membranes modified with Matrigels at 0 °C showed high biocompatibility and promoted cell growth and proliferation. The constructed duodenum epithelium models and colon epithelium models on the patterned electrospun PLA nanofibrous membranes expressed the typical differentiation markers of intestinal epithelia and the gene expression levels were close to the original tissues, especially with the help of probiotics. The constructed intestinal epithelium models could be used to assess probiotic adhesion and colonization, which were verified to show significant differences with the Caco-2 cell models due to the different cell types. These findings provide new insights and a better understanding of the roles of biophysical, biochemical, and biological signals in the construction of in vitro intestinal epithelium models as well as the potential applications of these models in the study of host-gut microbes interactions. Background: Ionocytes are rare cells in airway epithelium characterized by a high expression of CFTR. Objectives: To investigate the morphology and distribution of ionocytes and the function of CFTR in the nasal mucosal epithelium of children. Methods: The exfoliated cells of nasal mucosa from 101 children were detected using flow cytometry to analyze the number of ionocytes and CFTR and the difference of CFTR function. Nasal mucosa and polyps were collected from 10 children with CRSwNP. The RNAscope of FOXI1 and CFTR was detected in pathological paraffin sections. The expression and distribution of ionocytes and CFTR in nasal mucosa and polyp epithelium were observed. Results: In CRS patients, the number of ionocytes in the nasal epithelium was lower and the number of ionocytes that did not express CFTR was higher, and the function of CFTR was also decreased. The expression of CFTR in the nasal mucosa of CRS showed the characteristics of local dense distribution and increased as the inflammation expanded. The ionocytes were "tadpole-shaped" in the epithelium and gathered in the area of high CFTR expression, the intracellular CFTR was expanded in clusters. Ionocytes that did not express CFTR was more common in the nasal polyps. Conclusions: The number of ionocytes and the function of CFTR in nasal mucosa of CRS patients decreased. With the expansion of inflammation, CFTR and ionocytes showed more obvious dense distribution. Fungal spoilage of postharvest grains poses serious problems with respect to food safety, human health, and the economic value of grains. The protection of cereal grains from deleterious fungi is a critical aim in postharvest grain management. Considering the bulk volume of grain piles in warehouses or bins and food safety, fumigation with natural gaseous fungicides is a promising strategy to control fungal contamination on postharvest grains. Increasing research has focused on the antifungal properties of biogenic volatiles. This review summarizes the literature related to the effects of biogenic volatiles from microbes and plants on spoilage fungi on postharvest grains and highlights the underlying antifungal mechanisms. Key areas for additional research on fumigation with biogenic volatiles in postharvest grains are noted. The research described in this review supports the protective effects of biogenic volatiles against grain spoilage by fungi, providing a basis for their expanded application in the management of postharvest grains. A large amount of alkali lignin by-product is produced by the pulp and paper industry which can be further processed and transformed into valuable chemicals. In this study, the catalyst Ni-W/ZrP was prepared via chemical reduction for catalyzing alkali lignin depolymerization. Effective conversion of alkali lignin to phenolic monomers with assistance of formic acid acted as an internal hydrogen donor was performed in isopropanol system from 180 to 240 °C. Effects of reaction temperature, catalyst loading, and formic acid addition on lignin conversion were all investigated. Results showed that the highest oil yield was obtained (74.66 wt%) at 240 °C. The presence of formic acid could enhance alkali lignin conversion (the yield of bio-oil ranged from 17 to 23 wt% at 220 °C when the reaction conditions were changed from no added formic acid to only added formic acid). According to the GC/MS analysis, when metal loading (the mass ratio of Ni and W is 1:1) was 20 wt% (based on ZrP input), the prepared catalyst (Ni-W)20/ZrP had best selectivity for the phenolic products (88.25%, relative content). Furthermore, the obtained catalyst had different catalytic selectivities to G-type phenols and vanillin at different temperatures (from 180 to 240 °C). The quantitative analysis of bio-oil showed that the four products with high content in bio-oil were phenol, 2-methoxy (1.21 wt%), phenol, 4-ethyl-2-methoxy (0.45 wt%), vanillin (4.09 wt%), and ethenone,1-(4-hydroxy-3-methox-henyl) (0.86 wt%). FTIR analysis showed that peaks at 1267 cm−1, 1213 cm−1, 1130 cm−1, and 1046 cm−1 (C-O bonds in guaiac-based and clove-based units) gradually decrease with the increase of temperature which indicates that lignin is depolymerized to monoaromatic units effectively. The purpose of this study was to explore the research hotspots and trends of Kinesio Taping in the last decade and provide new sights in future studies. Publications in the area of Kinesio Taping were searched from the Web of Science Core Collection database between 2011 and 2020. Citespace software was used to analyze data on countries/regions, institutions, authors, co-cited references, and keywords. A total of 677 publications were obtained in the last decade. We identified the most prolific countries, institutions, and authors in the field of Kinesio Taping from 2011 to 2020. The annual number of publications showed an upward trend. The most prolific country and institution were Turkey and Hacettepe University, respectively. The author with the biggest number of publications was Gul Baltaci from Turkey. The top 5 most frequent keywords were "pain", "tape", "strength", "exercise", and "reliability". The keywords with the highest centrality were "proprioception", followed by "reliability", "clinical trial", "ankle", and "pain". Ten clusters were found and the biggest one was "quadricep". The top 9 keywords with the strongest bursts were detected and "trial" had the highest burst strength. The results from the bibliometric analysis provide hotspots and trends in the field of Kinesio Taping. It is still in the development stage of the past decade. Pain relief, sports injury prevention and treatment, and proprioception enhancement to improve postural control were the hotspots from 2011 to 2020. Methane (CH4) emissions from reservoirs have received widespread attention. The central urban area of Chongqing in the Three Gorges Reservoir area was selected as the study area in 2020. The temporal and spatial distribution of dissolved CH4 concentration and flux, key generation pathways, and influencing factors have been studied. The dissolved CH4 concentration in low-water-level period and impoundment period varied from 0.037~0.12 μmol·L−1 and 0.11~0.23 μmol·L−1, with the average values of (0.066 ± 0.0067) μmol·L−1 and (0.13 ± 0.034) μmol·L−1. The CH4 flux was (0.941 ± 0.217) μmol·m−2·h−1 in low-water-level period and (1.915 ± 0.204) μmol·m−2·h−1 in impoundment period. CH4 was produced by CO2 reduction and acetic acid fermentation, accounting for 17.95% and 82.05% of the total CH4 production, respectively. The dissolved CH4 concentration was significantly positively correlated with DO and NO3−-N, and it is opposite with dissolved inorganic carbon. The dissolved CH4 concentration in this study area is affected by water environment (33.42%), inorganic nitrogen (29.60%), organic carbon (23.88%), and inorganic carbon (13.10%), and anthropogenic influences promoted dissolved CH4 concentration. The exploitation of active ingredients from plant volatile organic compounds as natural gaseous fungicides shows remarkable potential for controlling fungal decay in postharvest agroproducts. Although 1-octanol is a common component of cereal volatiles, its antifungal potency against spoilage fungi in postharvest grains remains unclear. In this study, we studied the effectiveness of 1-octanol against Aspergillus flavus growth in postharvest grains and its mechanisms of action. 1-Octanol vapor and liquid contact dose-dependently inhibited A. flavus spore germination and mycelial growth at a low concentration. The simulated storage experiment demonstrated that 300 μL/L of 1-octanol vapor completely controlled A. flavus growth in wheat, corn, and paddy grains with 20% moisture content. 1-Octanol treatment irreversibly damaged the conidial and mycelial morphology of A. flavus and caused electrolyte leakage due to reduced plasma membrane integrity. It induced apoptosis along with morphological abnormalities, phosphatidylserine externalization, mitochondrial membrane potential depolarization, intracellular reactive oxygen species accumulation, and DNA fragmentation in A. flavus cells. Metabolomic analysis revealed that 1-octanol treatment disrupted the biosynthesis of unsaturated fatty acids, ATP-binding cassette transporters, amino acid metabolism, and glycerophospholipid metabolism. This study demonstrated the promising application potential of 1-octanol as a biofumigant for preventing fungal spoilage of postharvest cereal grains. Aim: To evaluate the efficacy and safety of brachytherapy with double-strand 125I seeds and biliary drainage for malignant obstructive jaundice.Methods and Materials: 42 patients with obstructive jaundice because of extrahepatic cholangiocarcinoma were enrolled. 22 patients (group A) received a biliary stent with common drainage tube implantation, and 20 patients (group B) received a biliary stent with double-strand 125I seeds radiotherapy drainage tube placement. The length, location and pathological stage of biliary stricture were recorded in the two groups. Total bilirubin (TBIL), direct bilirubin (DBIL), IgA, IgG, IgM, alanine aminotransferase and white blood cell (WBC) count were measured before and after percutaneous transhepatic cholangial drainage (PTCD). Tumor diameter was measured before and three months after PTCD, and the difference were calculated. Stent patency time, survival time, and complications were recorded.Results: There was no significant difference in the length, location and pathological stage of biliary stenosis between the two groups. There was no significant difference in TBIL, DBIL, IgA, IgG, IgM, alanine aminotransferase and WBC count between the two groups before or after PTCD (P > 0.05). Three months after PTCD, tumors growth in group A and tumors shrinkage in group B. The difference in tumor size between the two groups before and after PTCD was statistically significant (P < 0.05). The average stent patency times in groups A and B were 3.55 ± 0.76 months and 8.76 ± 1.85 months, respectively (P < 0.05). The average survival times in groups A and B were 133.5 ± 27.8 days and 252.5 ± 114.5 days, respectively (P < 0.05). There was no statistically significant difference in the incidence of complications between the two groups (P > 0.05).Conclusion: Double-strand 125I seeds radiotherapy biliary drainage tubes can safely and effectively control tumors, prolong the patency of biliary stents, and prolong patient survival. In this work, titania supported catalysts (V-W/Ti) with different vanadium-tungsten contents were prepared and evaluated in the catalytic oxidation of chlorobenzene, which was used as the model compound of dioxins. The results showed that V2O5 is the main active component for chlorobenzene oxidation, and doping of WO3 affects the valence distributions of vanadium, contributing a bimetallic synergistic effect. The catalysts were investigated by XRD, SEM–EDS mapping, Raman, and XPS, and the changes in V element valence state and chlorine content on fresh and used catalysts were observed by XPS. Moreover, in situ FTIR studies and chlorine balance were also conducted, the addition of WO3 is helpful to the breakage of C–Cl, and a reaction mechanism for the catalytic oxidation of chlorobenzene was proposed. 3 V-5 W/Ti catalyst with better catalytic activity was selected for catalytic oxidation of PCDD/Fs using a lab scale PCDD/Fs generating and decomposing system. The degradation efficiency was 66.5% at 200 °C and 62.2% at 300 °C, which indicated that the low reaction temperature of 200 °C was conducive to the catalytic degradation of PCDDs, while the high temperature of 300 °C was facilitated the degradation of PCDFs. The activity of V-ATPase is well-known to be regulated by reversible dissociation of its V1 and Vo domains in response to growth factor stimulation, nutrient sensing, and cellular differentiation. The molecular basis of its regulation by an endogenous modulator without affecting V-ATPase assembly remains unclear. Here, we discover that a lysosome-anchored protein termed (mammalian Enhancer-of-Akt-1-7 (mEAK7)) binds to intact V-ATPase. We determine cryo-EM structure of human mEAK7 in complex with human V-ATPase in native lipid-containing nanodiscs. The structure reveals that the TLDc domain of mEAK7 engages with subunits A, B, and E, while its C-terminal domain binds to subunit D, presumably blocking V1–Vo torque transmission. Our functional studies suggest that mEAK7, which may act as a V-ATPase inhibitor, does not affect the activity of V-ATPase in vitro. However, overexpression of mEAK7 in HCT116 cells that stably express subunit a4 of V-ATPase represses the phosphorylation of ribosomal protein S6. Thus, this finding suggests that mEAK7 potentially links mTOR signaling with V-ATPase activity. Structural basis of V-ATPase regulation by endogenous proteins is unclear. Cyanobacterial harmful algal blooms are a worldwide problem with substantial adverse effects on the aquatic environment as well as human health. Among the multiple physicochemical and biotic approaches, algicidal bacterium is one of the most promising and eco-friendly ways to control bloom expansion. In this study, Stenotrophomonas sp. KT48 isolated from the pond where cyanobacterial blooms occurred exhibited a strong inhibitory effect on Microcystis aeruginosa. However, the algicidal performance and mechanisms of Stenotrophomonas sp. remain under-documented. To explore the algicidal performance and physiological response againt M. aeruginosa, further works were implemented here. Our results indicated that the algicidal rate of strain KT48 cultured in 1/8 LB medium supplemented with 0.3% starch or glucose was about 30% higher than that in 1/8 LB medium. Strain KT48 culture, cell-free filtrate, and cells re-suspended were inoculated into the M. aeruginosa culture, and the Chl-a content was determined. Those results indicated that the algicidal activity of cells re-suspended was far higher than that of cell-free filtrate and culture. Thus, strain KT48 exhibited algicidal activity mainly through direct attacking M. aeruginosa rather than excretion of algicides. Furthermore, strain KT48 led to an increase in cellular reactive oxygen species (ROS) and caused lipid peroxidation as supported by the increase in malondialdehyde (MDA) levels. The ROS and MDA levels in algal cells treated with strain KT48 cells re-suspended were about 3.23-fold and 2.80-fold higher than those of untreated algal cells on day 11. And a further inhibition to the antioxidant system is suggested by a sharp decrease in the superoxide dismutase (SOD), catalase (CAT), and peroxidase (POD) activities. In addition, we also observed that the morphology of most algal cells changed from integrity to break. This study not only indicated strain KT48 with strong algicidal activity, but also explored the underlying algicidal mechanisms to provide a source of bacterial agent for the biocontrol of cyanobacterial blooms. Previous studies reported on the association between physical activity (PA) and cardiovascular diseases (CVDS) among the Western population. However, evidence on the association between different patterns of PA and the risk of CVDS among Chinese population are limited. This study aims to evaluate the association of different PA types and the risk of CVDS in a Chinese adult population. A total of 3568 community residents were recruited from Jiangsu Province of China using a stratified multistage cluster sampling method. The latent class analysis method was employed to identify the types of PA, and the Framingham risk score (FRS) was used to estimate the risk of CVDS within 10 years. Three types of PA were identified: CLASS1 represented participants with high occupational PA and low sedentary PA (32.1% of male, 26.5% of female), ClASS2 represented those engaging in low occupational PA and high leisure-time PA (27.0% of male, 14.2% of female), and CLASS3 represented low leisure-time and high sedentary PA (40.9% of male, 59.3% of female). The average of FRS in males was higher than that in females across PA types. CLASS1 (OR = 0.694, 95%CI 0.553–0.869) and CLASS2 (OR = 0.748, 95%CI 0.573–0.976) were both found to be protective against CVDS in males; however, such associations were not statistically significant among females. Therefore, higher occupational or leisure-time PA appear to be associated with decreased risk of CVDS, while more sedentary behaviors may increase the risk of CVDS, particularly for male Chinese adults. Previous studies demonstrated that the El Niño-Southern Oscillation (ENSO) could modulate regional climate thus influencing air quality in the low-middle latitude regions like southern China. However, such influence has not been well evaluated at a long-term historical scale. To filling the gap, this study investigated two-decade (2002 to 2020) aerosol concentration and particle size in southern China during the whole dynamic development of ENSO phases. Results suggest strong positive correlations between aerosol optical depth (AOD) and ENSO phases, as low AOD occurred during El Niño while high AOD occurred during La Niña event. Such correlations are mainly attributed to the variation of atmospheric circulation and precipitation during corresponding ENSO phase. Analysis of the angstrom exponent (AE) anomalies further confirmed the circulation pattern, as negative AE anomalies is pronounced in El Nino indicating the enhanced transport of sea salt aerosols from the South China Sea, while the La Niña event exhibits positive AE anomalies which can be attributed to the enhanced import of northern fine anthropogenic aerosols. This study further quantified the AOD variation attributed to changes in ENSO phases and anthropogenic emissions. Results suggest that the long-term AOD variation from 2002 to 2020 in southern China is mostly driven (by 64.2%) by the change of anthropogenic emissions from 2002 to 2020. However, the ENSO presents dominant influence (70.5%) on year-to-year variations of AOD during 2002–2020, implying the importance of ENSO on varying aerosol concentration in a short-term period. Background: Microvascular invasion (MVI) is a prominent risk factor of postoperative recurrence for hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC). The MVI detection rate of conventional pathological examination approaches is relatively low and unsatisfactory. Methods: By integrating pathological macro-slide with whole-mount slide imaging, we first created a novel pathological examination method called image-matching digital macro-slide (IDS). Surgical samples from eligible patients were collected to make IDS. The MVI detection rates, tumor recurrence rates and recurrence-free survival were compared among conventional 3-Point and 7-Point baseline sampling protocols and IDS. Additionally, biomarkers to recognize MVI false negative patients were probed via combining conventional pathological sampling protocols and IDS. Receiver operating characteristic curve (ROC) analysis was used to obtain the optimal cutoff of biomarkers to distinguish MVI false negative patients. Results: The MVI detection rates were 21.98%, 32.97% and 63.74%, respectively, in 3-Point, 7-Point baseline sampling protocols and IDS (p < 0.001). Tumor recurrence rate of patients with MVI negative status in IDS (6.06%) was relatively lower than that of patients with MVI negative status in 3-Point (16.90%) and 7-Point (16.39%) sampling protocols. Alpha-fetoprotein (AFP) and protein induced by vitamin K absence or antagonist-II (PIVKA-II) were selected as potential biomarkers to distinguish MVI false negative patients. Conclusions: Our study demonstrated that IDS can help enhance the detection rate of MVI in HCC and refine the prediction of HCC prognosis. Aims: Obesity has been proposed to promote the progression of diabetic retinopathy (DR), but previous studies have not shown consistent results. We aimed to explore the association between generalized and abdominal obesity and DR risk, and to assess the joint effect of these two different types of obesity on DR development. Methods: A nested case–control study within a large prospective study on type 2 diabetes was conducted in communities in Huai'an City, Jiangsu Province, China. Cases were individuals who had diagnoses of DR during the 6-year follow-up. A total number of 1544 DR cases and 1:1 matched controls were included. Binomial and multinomial logistic regression models were used to investigate the effects of obesity on DR occurrence and DR severity. Results: Compared with individuals in the first tertile of the baseline waist-to-hip ratio (WHR), subjects in the third tertile at baseline had significantly higher risk of DR (OR 1.44, 95% CI 1.17–1.78) during the follow-up period. Conversely, body mass index (BMI) (continuous) had an adjusted OR of 0.97 (95% CI 0.95–0.99) of developing DR. Individuals with low BMI and high WHR levels were identified as a high-risk population with a higher likelihood of developing DR (OR 1.65, 95% CI 1.17–2.33) than those in the lowest BMI category and simultaneously in the first WHR tertile. Conclusions: Type 2 diabetic individuals with low BMI levels and high WHR levels had a significantly increased risk of developing DR which indicated that isolated abdominal obesity might be involved in the pathogenesis of DR. The brown planthopper (Nilaparvata lugens Stål, BPH) is one of the most destructive rice pests worldwide. GXU202 is a germplasm of common wild rice (Oryza rufipogon Griff.) with high resistance to the BPH. In this study, genetic analysis indicated that the BPH-resistant phenotype of GXU202 is controlled by a major gene. Through the combination and comparison of QTL linkage and BSA-seq analyses, a novel gene locus, BPH41, conferring BPH resistance was identified. This gene locus was finely mapped to a 116-kb region delimited by W4-4–3 and W1-6–3 on chromosome 4. The markers D01031 and D01045 showed high accuracy in predicting phenotypes resistant to BPH, suggesting their reliability for marker-assisted selection of BPH41 in breeding BPH-resistant rice varieties. Excessive discharge of phosphorus into the water bodies is the key factor to cause eutrophication. The fruit and vegetable wastewater contains large amounts of phosphorus, and it may be directly discharged into water bodies, which has a great burden on the municipal sewage pipe network. Therefore, coagulation was used to remove phosphorus, recovered the phosphorus from the wastewater into the precipitate, and then the precipitate was pyrolyzed as an efficient adsorbent for phosphate removal. By comparing the adsorption effects of adsorbents (XT-300, XT-400, and XT-500) with pyrolysis temperatures of 300 °C, 400 °C, and 500 °C on phosphate in actual phosphorus-containing wastewater and simulated phosphorus-containing wastewater at different adsorbent dosage (4 g/L, 7 g/L, and 10 g/L), it was found that XT-300 had the best performance of adsorption, and the adsorption of phosphate was endothermic and obeyed the Langmuir isotherms and Elovich kinetics. The influence of pH, coexisting anions, and the structure of XT-300 revealed that the removal of phosphate was associated with electrostatic attraction, pore filling, but could not be determined whether it was related to surface precipitation. This study provides a way and method for the recovery and utilization of phosphorus in fruit and vegetable wastewater and proves that the synthetic adsorbent was an efficient phosphorus adsorbent.
