Abstract Although adamantinomatous craniopharyngioma (ACP) is a tumour with low histological malignancy, there are very few therapeutic options other than surgery. ACP has high histological complexity, and the unique features of the immunological microenvironment within ACP remain elusive. Further elucidation of the tumour microenvironment is particularly important to expand our knowledge of potential therapeutic targets. Here, we performed integrative analysis of 58,081 nuclei through single-nucleus RNA sequencing and spatial transcriptomics on ACP specimens to characterize the features and intercellular network within the microenvironment. The ACP environment is highly immunosuppressive with low levels of T-cell infiltration/cytotoxicity. Moreover, tumour-associated macrophages (TAMs), which originate from distinct sources, highly infiltrate the microenvironment. Using spatial transcriptomic data, we observed one kind of non-microglial derived TAM that highly expressed GPNMB close to the terminally differentiated epithelial cell characterized by RHCG, and this colocalization was verified by asmFISH. We also found the positive correlation of infiltration between these two cell types in datasets with larger cohort. According to intercellular communication analysis, we report a regulatory network that could facilitate the keratinization of RHCG+ epithelial cells, eventually causing tumour progression. Our findings provide a comprehensive analysis of the ACP immune microenvironment and reveal a potential therapeutic strategy base on interfering with these two types of cells.

The task of modeling and analyzing intercepted multifunction radars (MFRs) pulse trains is vital for cognitive electronic reconnaissance. Existing methodologies predominantly rely on prior information or heavily constrained models, posing challenges for non-cooperative applications. This paper introduces a novel approach to model MFRs using a Bayesian network, where the conditional probability density function is approximated by an autoregressive kernel mixture network (ARKMN). Utilizing the estimated probability density function, a dynamic programming algorithm is proposed for denoising and detecting change points in the intercepted MFRs pulse trains. Simulation results affirm the proposed method's efficacy in modeling MFRs, outperforming the state-of-the-art in pulse train denoising and change point detection.

By elucidating the progressive relationship from the rolling stress state to the activation of slip systems and then to lattice rotation, this paper clarifies the influence mechanism of strain paths on the evolution of α-phase texture in near-α titanium alloys. The distinct rolling textures obtained further provide a robust foundation for investigating whether the competition between different α-phase textures changes with varying cooling rates during β→α phase transformation. In this study, initial Ti65 alloy sheets underwent rolling using three different strain paths (UDR/CDR/MSCR), resulting in the production of three foils characterized by distinct textures. Compressive stress during rolling promotes the activation of basal and pyramidal-II slipping, leading to the formation of a TD-split basal texture in α-phase. Tensile stress during rolling promotes the activation of prismatic slipping, ultimately resulting in a [10 1‾ 0]//RD (in the case of UDR) or [21‾1‾ 0]//RD (in the case of CDR) texture. Variations in stress states along different strain paths led to differences in the global Schmid factor distribution of α-phase for slip systems, ultimately resulting in diverse texture evolution. Subsequently, foil samples underwent two-phase region heat treatments, followed by furnace cooling and air cooling. After furnace cooling, the strength of the transverse texture increased in each type of foils. Conversely, after air cooling, no specific α-phase texture consistently exhibited an increasing trend in the three foils.

In prompt fission neutron uranium logging, borehole environmental parameters affect the measured results and must be corrected. In order to explore the influence of borehole parameters on the interpretation of logging results, this paper builds a sandstone type uranium ore block model to simulate the field production drilling device based on the “Epithermal/Thermal neutron counting rate ratio” (E/T) theory. The effects of borehole diameter, thickness of iron tube and well fluid on the decay rate of epithermal and thermal neutrons and their uncertainty correction methods were investigated. The results show that the effect of borehole diameter on E/T is negligible. The iron tube thickness has a certain effect on the moderation and absorption of epithermal and thermal neutrons, and its E/T increases slightly with increasing thickness. The influence of iron tube thickness on E/T is corrected and the relative uncertainty is less than 5%. The well fluid thickness also affects the decay rate of epithermal and thermal neutrons, and its E/T follows the law of negative exponential attenuation. The influence of well fluid thickness on E/T is corrected and the relative uncertainty is less than 5%. This study provides technical guidance for field well survey of uranium deposit.

Dissimilar TiAl-based alloys weld by solid-state bonding, also known as diffusion bonding (DB), usually show brittle intermetallic compounds, high interfacial stress, and poor properties. A novel post-bonded process strategy, slight deformation in the direction of stress parallel to the bonding interface, was developed in the post-bonded treatment of the TiAl/Ti2AlNb joint. The effect of post-bonded processes on the interfacial microstructure, element diffusion, fracture characteristics and mechanical properties were systematically investigated. The results showed that the post-bonded hot deformation (PBHD), compared to the traditional post-bonded heat treatment (PBHT), can effectively increase the major elements diffuse and the growth of the reaction layer, as well as promote the precipitates which distribute uniformly in the reaction layer, finally resulting in superior tensile strength. Compared with the DB samples, the ultimate tensile strength of the PBHD joint increased by 45.58%. In addition, the fracture behavior was further analyzed based on the microfracture morphology and crack propagation path. These findings will facilitate the development of advanced manufacturing processes of blisk for high-temperature light alloys.

Abstract Regarding the lane keeping system, path tracking accuracy and lateral stability at high speeds need to be taken into account especially for commercial vehicles due to the characteristics of larger mass, longer wheelbase and higher mass center. To improve the performance mentioned above comprehensively, the control strategy based on improved artificial potential field (APF) algorithm is proposed. In the paper, time to lane crossing (TLC) is introduced into the potential field function to enhance the accuracy of path tracking, meanwhile the vehicle dynamics parameters including yaw rate and lateral acceleration are chosen as the repulsive force field source. The lane keeping controller based on improved APF algorithm is designed and the stability of the control system is proved based on Lyapunov theory. In addition, adaptive inertial weight particle swarm optimization algorithm (AIWPSO) is applied to optimize the gain of each potential field function. The co-simulation results indicate that the comprehensive evaluation index respecting lane tracking accuracy and lateral stability is reduced remarkably. Finally, the proposed control strategy is verified by the HiL test. It provides a beneficial reference for dynamics control of commercial vehicles and enriches the theoretical development and practical application of artificial potential field method in the field of intelligent driving.

Abstract Mesonephric-like adenocarcinoma is a new class of rare subtypes of the female reproductive system. Its clinical symptoms are similar to other types of ovarian tumors. The diagnosis is based on pathological and immunohistochemical methods. The main treatment option is surgery combined with chemotherapy. Few cases have been reported at home and abroad. We reported a case of a 45-year-old woman with a cystic solid mass in the left adnexa. The postoperative pathological diagnosis was mesonephric-like adenocarcinoma of the left ovary and mature cystic teratoma (partial infiltration of the small intestine). This case had no specific clinical symptoms. Immunohistochemical findings showed positive results of GATA3, TTF1, CD10, ER, and PR. Paclitaxel and carboplatin chemotherapy were given after the operation. Currently, no specific criteria are available for diagnosis and treatment of the disease. This article aims to improve the understanding of clinicians in this disease and create a basis for clinical diagnosis and treatment.

To explore the passivation effect of polyvinylpyrrolidone (PVP) on Ag nanowires (NWs), the structural evolution of PVP@Ag NWs was in situ induced under focused electron beam (e-beam) irradiation using transmission electron microscopy. Notably, interesting phenomena, including multiple necking and axial elongation, were observed at room temperature. By establishing a kinetic relationship, the passivation effect of PVP on the radial shrinkage of Ag NW was confirmed, with a determined surface energy index (b) of 0.2. The presence of PVP not only weakened the surface nanocurvature effect of Ag NW but also retarded the athermal activation effect of energetic e-beam irradiation. By taking into account two new concepts of nanocurvature effect and athermal activation effect, the structure evolution of PVP@Ag NW was well restored by COMSOL simulation. Additionally, the radial shrinkage of Ag NWs with and without PVP coating was compared extensively. The simulation vividly illustrated the evaporation and diffusion processes of atoms, showcasing how PVP effectively mitigates material loss.

In order to study the deformation and failure mechanism of ribbed steel rebar bolts anchorage structure, the axisymmetric numerical model of anchorage structure was established by ABAQUS software. Based on the cohesion model, the numerical test was carried out to obtain the distribution and evolution law of bolt deformation, load and anchorage body displacement field during the pull-out process of anchorage structure. The test results show that under the same pull-out displacement, the small rib spacing bolt can also bear higher pull-out load, which indicates that the small rib spacing bolt has stronger bearing capacity for the deformation of surrounding rock of roadway. In the pull-out process of bolt, with the increase of pull-out displacement, the rock mass failure and separation area spread to the deep rock mass in an inverted bowl shape. When the pull-out displacement increases to 9.06 mm, the displacement growth rate at the end of the anchorage section of the rock mass increases, and the maximum displacement of the rock mass is 4.79 mm, which appears at the end of the anchorage section, eventually leading to the failure of the anchorage section matrix. The axial force of the bolt is negatively correlated with the rib spacing of the bolt, and the axial force of the bolt increases with the decrease of the rib spacing.

Lung cancer is the leading cause of cancer-related death worldwide, especially non-small cell lung cancer. Early diagnosis and better treatment choices have already provided a more promising prognosis for cancer patients. In targeted therapy, antagonists target specific genes supporting cancer growth, proliferation and metastasis. With the incorporation of targeted therapies in routine cancer therapy, it is imperative that the array of toxicities associated with these agents must be well-recognized and managed, especially since these toxicities are distinct from those seen with conventional cytotoxic agents. Drug-related nephrotoxicity has attracted attention when initiating cancer therapy. Our review aims to summarize the adverse renal effects caused by targeted therapy during lung cancer treatment, mainly focusing on EGFR and ALK tyrosine kinase inhibitors. Also, we discuss the possible mechanism of the side effect and provide managements to help improve the renal function in clinical practice.

The burgeoning issue of landfill leachate, exacerbated by urbanization, necessitates evaluating its biological impact, traditionally overshadowed by physical and chemical assessments. This study harnesses Caenorhabditis elegans, a model organism, to elucidate the physiological toxicity of landfill leachate subjected to different treatment processes: nanofiltration reverse osmosis tail water (NFRO), membrane bioreactor (MBR), and raw leachate (RAW). Our investigation focuses on the modulation of sugar metabolism, particularly trehalose—a disaccharide serving dual functions as an energy source and an anti-adversity molecule in invertebrates. Upon exposure, C. elegans showcased a 60–70% reduction in glucose and glycogen levels alongside a significant trehalose increase, highlighting an adaptive response to environmental stress by augmenting trehalose synthesis. Notably, trehalose-related genes in the NFRO group were up-regulated, contrasting with the MBR and RAW groups, where trehalose synthesis genes outpaced decomposition genes by 20–30 times. These findings suggest that C. elegans predominantly counters landfill leachate-induced stress through trehalose accumulation. This research not only provides insights into the differential impact of leachate treatment methods on C. elegans but also proposes a molecular framework for assessing the environmental repercussions of landfill leachate, contributing to the development of novel strategies for pollution mitigation and environmental preservation.

Abstract Background Harmonia axyridis is an effective natural enemy insect to a variety of phloem-sucking pests and Lepidopteran larvae, such as aphids, scabies, and phylloxera, while its industrial production is limited due to unmature artificial diet. Insect intestinal microbiota affect host development and reproduction. The aim of this study is to understand intestinal microbiota composition of H. axyridis and screen effective probiotics on artificial diet. Considering the role of the components and composition of the diet on the structure and composition of the intestinal microbiome, four kinds of diets were set up: (1) aphid; (2) basic diet; (3) basic diet + glucose; (4) basic diet + trehalose. The gut microbiota of H. axyridis was detected after feeding on different diets. Results Results showed that the gut microbiota between artificial diet group and aphid groups were far apart, while the basic and glucose groups were clearly clustered. Besides, the glucose group and trehalose group had one unique phylum, Cryptophyta and Candidatus Saccharibacteria, respectively. The highest abundance of Proteobacteria was found in the aphid diet. The highest abundance of Firmicutes was found in the basic diet. However, the addition of glucose or trehalose alleviated the change. In addition, the relative abundance of Enterobacter, Klebsiella, Enterobacteriaceae_unclassified, Enterobacteriales_unclassified and Serratia in the aphid group was higher than other groups. Moreover, the function of gut genes in each group also showed clear differences. Conclusion These results have offered a strong link between artificial diets and gut microbes, and also have provided a theoretical basis for the screening of synergistic probiotics in artificial diet.

Cross-view geolocalization of unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) is a challenging task due to the positional discrepancies and uncertainties in scale and distance between UAVs and satellite views. Existing transformer-based geolocalization methods mainly use encoders to mine image contextual information. However, these methods have some limitations when dealing with scale changes in cross-view images. Therefore, we present an effective transformer-based Siamese network tailored for UAV geolocalization, called GeoFormer. First, an efficient transformer feature extraction network was designed, which utilizes linear attention to reduce the computational complexity and improve the computational efficiency of the network. Among them, we designed an efficient separable perceptron module based on depthwise separable convolution, which can effectively reduce the computational cost while improving the feature representation of the network. Second, we proposed a multiscale feature aggregation module, which deeply fuses salient features at different scales through a feedforward neural network to generate global feature representations with rich semantics, which improves the model's ability to capture image details and represent robust features. Additionally, we designed a semantic-guided region segmentation module, which utilizes a k-modes clustering algorithm to divide the feature map into multiple regions with semantic consistency and performs feature recognition within each semantic region to improve the accuracy of image matching. Finally, we designed a hierarchical reinforcement rotation matching strategy to achieve accurate UAV geolocalization based on the retrieval results of UAV view query satellite images using SuperPoint keypoints extraction and LightGlue rotation matching. According to the experimental results, our method effectively achieves UAV geolocalization.

Wideband spectrum sensing with a high-speed analog-digital converter (ADC) presents a challenge for practical systems. The Nyquist folding receiver (NYFR) is a promising scheme for achieving cost-effective real-time spectrum sensing, which is subject to the complexity of processing the modulated outputs. In this case, a multipath NYFR architecture with a step-sampling rate for the different paths is proposed. The different numbers of digital channels for each path are designed based on the Chinese remainder theorem (CRT). Then, the detectable frequency range is divided into multiple frequency grids, and the Nyquist zone (NZ) of the input can be obtained by sensing these grids. Thus, high-precision parameter estimation is performed by utilizing the NYFR characteristics. Compared with the existing methods, the scheme proposed in this paper overcomes the challenge of NZ estimation, information damage, many computations, low accuracy, and high false alarm probability. Comparative simulation experiments verify the effectiveness of the proposed architecture in this paper.

In order to meet realistic requirements for flexible and reliable power supply in special scenarios such as remote areas and deep ocean exploration, a novel megawatt portable nuclear power system called SUPERHERO (SUPERcritical carbon dioxide cycle-HEat pipe ReactOr power system) is proposed in this paper. The system consists of a heat pipe-cooled reactor and a closed supercritical carbon dioxide (S–CO2) Brayton power cycle. Different cycle concepts were compared, and the simple recuperated cycle was adopted for compactness and simplicity of the system. The multi-objective optimization is performed to maximize cycle efficiency and minimize system volume, resulting in optimized parameters for a 1MWe system. By utilizing uranium nitride (UN) modular fuel elements and high heat transfer capacity potassium heat pipes, a compact reactor scheme with 3.13MWt is determined that can operate for 15 years without refueling. The neutronics and thermal analysis of the reactor are carried out, and the results show that the reactor has safety features such as a low peak factor, negative temperature feedback coefficient, sufficient reactivity compensation and control, and anti-failure of single heat pipe. The primary heat exchanger is also designed using the CFD method, and the heat exchange tubes combined with ribbed plates and self-supporting structures are used to enhance heat transfer and ensure structural stability. All these studies outline the general features of SUPERHERO, demonstrating that SUPERHERO has great development potential.

Abstract The interaction between insects and plants is a classic case of coevolution. During the arms race that has continued for 400 million years, the mutualistic (such as pollination and defense assistance) and antagonistic relationships gradually formed and complicated under the selection pressure from phytophagous insects. Thus, plants have developed diverse defense strategies, constantly balancing the relationship between defense and growth. At the same time, insects have evolved the ability to adapt to and resist plant defenses. Throughout this process, phenotypic plasticity has continuously helped both groups adapt to new environments and niches. Epigenetic changes play an important role in the formation of plastic phenotype. These changes allow parental defense traits to be passed on to the offspring, helping the offspring resist insect feeding. Epigenetic changes and genetic variation provide the basis for the formation of new phenotypes, and plants can form stable defense traits under long-term insect feeding pressure. In this review, we summarize the defense strategies of plants and the counter-defense strategies of insects, suggest that phenotypic plasticity plays an important role in this interaction, and discuss the role of epigenetics in the formation of plastic phenotypes.

The tricarboxylic acid (TCA) cycle is a central route for generating cellular energy and precursors for biosynthetic pathways. Emerging evidences have shown that the aberrations of metabolic enzymes which affect the integrity of TCA cycle are implicated in various tumour pathological processes. Interestingly, several TCA enzymes exhibit the characteristics of RNA binding properties, and their long non-coding RNA (lncRNA) partners play critical regulatory roles in regulating the function of TCA cycle and tumour progression. In this review, we will discuss the functional roles of RNA binding proteins and their lncRNA partners in TCA cycle, with emphasis placed on the cancer progression. A further understanding of RNA binding proteins and their lncRNA partners in TCA cycle, as well as their molecular mechanisms in oncogenesis, will aid in developing novel layers of metabolic targets for cancer therapy in the near future. ABSTRACTCervical cancer (CC) is a very usual reproductive malignant tumor in women. RNA polymerase II-associated factor 1 (PAF1) and flotillin-2 (FLOT2) both have been discovered to key participators in cancers’ progression. However, the effects of PAF1/FLOT2 axis on CC development have not been probed. In this study, PAF1 and FLOT2 exhibited higher expression, and silencing of PAF1 down-regulated FLOT2 expression in CC. In addition, the regulatory effects of PAF1 suppression on CC progression were reversed after FLOT2 overexpression. Next, inhibition of PAF1 slowed the tumor growth in vivo through modulating FLOT2. Besides, down-regulation of PAF1 reduced FLOT2 expression to retard the MEK/ERK1/2 pathway. In conclusion, knockdown of PAF1 suppressed CC progression via retarding FLOT2-mediated MEK/ERK1/2 pathway. Our findings illustrated that the PAF1/FLOT2 axis may be useful bio-targets for CC treatment.

Through the active control of shield thrust system oil pressures, a synchronous shield tunnelling technology combining advancement and segment fabrication was proposed. The key to this technology was to completely exploit the additional stroke of the hydraulic jacks generated by the axial insertion of a key block to assemble the segments. Taking the tunnelling project of the Shanghai Airport Railway Link Line as a demonstration project, this paper uses a large model test platform for this synchronous technology. A single-ring construction process along a straight line was simulated, in which the theoretical external loads were implemented on the shield machine. The feasibility and reliability of this synchronous technology were evaluated considering the accuracy of total thrust force control, maintenance of tunnelling speed and shield postures and segment compression. The effectiveness of the redistribution principle for the missing thrust force due to the withdrawal of cylinders located in the segment fabrication region was discussed. Furthermore, some other interesting phenomena were observed in the practical application in addition to the model test. This technology primarily realizes synchronous assembly by improving the control of the propulsion system of conventional shield machines without any transformation of the shield machine’s primary structure, segment patterns or excavation method. The proposed method has good adaptability and a low construction cost, which will be beneficial for future long-distance tunnelling projects.

Since the arid regions of Central Asia (ACA) are located in the interior of Eurasia, water resources play a vital role in the stability of its ecosystem and economic development. Based on the terrestrial water storage anomaly (TWSA) of the Gravity Recovery and Climate Experiment (GRACE), we analyze the observed characteristics of the TWSA over the ACA during 2003–2014. Results indicate that the terrestrial water storage (TWS) in the region showed an overall declining trend from 2003 to 2014, and the autumn TWS in this region is the smallest compared to other seasons and exhibits a strong decreasing trend at least −4.5 cm/decade. This means water resources over the ACA are scarcer and more vulnerable in autumn. The Distance between Indices of Simulation and Observation (DISO) method is employed to evaluate the performance of the sixth phase of the Coupled Model Intercomparison Project (CMIP6) models in simulating the autumn TWSA over the ACA. Compared with observational results, the autumn TWSA values captured by CMIP6 models are larger and the declining TWS trends are weaker. Using the optimal CMIP6 models, the statistical downscaling method constrains the projection results of autumn TWSA values over the ACA using the GRACE datasets. It shows autumn TWS will continue to decrease in most parts of the ACA in the future, and water scarcity will be the most severe in Tajikistan and southwestern Kazakhstan. Under SSP126, Tajikistan’s TWSA is projected to decrease by 11.0 cm in the long term. This study reveals the current situation and possible future changes in TWS over the ACA in autumn, providing references for water resource management and sustainable development policies in this area to avoid losses caused by water scarcity.

Clonorchis sinensis is one of the most important fish-borne zoonotic parasitic worms in humans, and is distributed in several countries with more than 15 million people infected globally. However, the lack of a point-of-care testing (POCT) method is still the critical barrier to effectively prevent clonorchiasis. With the application of novel fluorescent nanomaterials, the development of on-site testing methods with high signal enhancement can provide a simple, precise and inexpensive tool for disease detection. In this study, Eu-(III) nanoparticles (EuNPs) were used as indicative probes, combined with C. sinensis tandem repeat sequence 1 (CSTR1) antigen to capture specific antibodies. Afterward, the complex binds to mouse anti-human IgG immobilized on the test line (T-line) producing a fluorescent signal under UV light. The EuNPs-fluorescent immunoassay (EuNPs-FIA) was successfully constructed, allowing sample detection within 10 min. It enabled both qualitative determination with the naked eye under UV light and quantitative detection by scanning the fluorescence intensity on the test line and control line (C-line). A total of 133 clinical human sera (74 negative, 59 clonorchiasis, confirmed by conventional Kato-Katz (KK) methods and PCR via testing fecal samples corresponding to each serum sample) were used in this study. For qualitative analysis, the cut-off value of fluorescence for positive serum was 31.57 by testing 74 known negative human samples. The assay had no cross-reaction with other 9 parasite-infected sera, and could recognize the mixed infection sera of C. sinensis and other parasites. The sensitivity and specificity of EuNPs-FIA were both 100% compared with KK smear method. Taking advantage of its high precision and user-friendly procedure, the established EuNPs-FIA provides a powerful tool for the diagnosis and epidemiological survey of clonorchiasis.

Abstract In recent years, successive approximation register (SAR) analogue‐to‐digital converters (ADCs) have been widely applied in Internet of Things (IoT) sensor devices. To reduce the power consumption of ADCs, a bridged‐switch energy‐efficient switching scheme for SAR ADCs with a 2× input range is proposed. Due to the use of top‐plate sampling, overall shift and bridged switch, the energy consumption of the first three comparisons and reset is zero, meanwhile the energy consumption of the fifth comparison is greatly reduced. The proposed switching scheme has an average energy consumption of 13.084CVref2, which reduces the switching energy by 99.04% compared to the conventional switching scheme. The proposed switching scheme can achieve a 2× input range with the same supply voltage, effectively reducing ADC power consumption and making it more suitable for IoT applications.

Causal identification is achieved through propensity score matching, while robustness is assessed using methods such as augmented inverse probability weighting and placebo tests. Heterogeneity analysis is conducted based on gender and household registration, aiming to explore the mechanisms by which family residence structure affects adolescents’ non-cognitive abilities.ResultsThe findings indicate that compared to two-parent co-residence households, three-generation co-residence families have significantly positive effects on emotional stability, conscientiousness, and agreeableness among adolescents. In contrast, skip-generation coresidence families exhibit significant negative effects on emotional stability and agreeableness in adolescents. Further investigation into the underlying mechanisms reveals that parental involvement and family socioeconomic status within three-generation co-residence families positively influence adolescents’ non-cognitive abilities.ConclusionThis study highlights the importance of considering grandparents’ role in adolescent growth and advocates for policy recommendations focusing on enhancing non-cognitive abilities in adolescents from skip-generation co-residence families.

Background: Hepatic fibrosis is caused by various liver diseases and eventually develops into liver cancer. There is no specific drug approved for the treatment of hepatic fibrosis in the world. Acacetin (AC), a natural flavonoid, is widely present in nature in various plants, such as black locust, Damiana, Silver birch. It has been reported that acacetin can inhibit the proliferation of cancer cells and induce apoptosis. Purpose: In this study, we investigated the effect of acacetin on hepatic stellate cell apoptosis, thereby improving hepatic fibrosis, and combined experimental validation and molecular docking to reveal the underlying mechanism. Result: First, we discovered that acacetin inhibited hepatic stellate cell proliferation as well as the expression of fibrosis-related proteins α-smooth muscle actin (α-SMA) and collagen type I 1 gene (COL1A1) in LX2 cells. Acacetin was then found to promote apoptosis of hepatic stellate cells through the caspase cascade pathway. Network pharmacology screening showed that TP53, CASP3, CASP8, BCL2, PARP1, and BAX were the most important targets related to apoptosis in the PPI network. GO and KEGG analyses of these six important targets were performed, and the top 10 enriched biological processes and related signaling pathways were revealed. Further network pharmacology analysis proved that apoptosis was involved in the biological process of acacetin's action against hepatic stellate cells. Finally, molecular docking revealed that acacetin binds to the active sites of six apoptotic targets. In vitro experiments further confirmed that acacetin could promote the apoptosis of LX2 cells by inducing the activation of P53, thereby improving hepatic fibrosis. Conclusion: acacetin induces P53 activation and promotes apoptosis of hepatic stellate cells thereby ameliorating hepatic fibrosis.

ObjectiveTo explore the influence of serum metabolites on the risk of psoriasis.MethodsIn the initial stage, we applied Mendelian randomization to evaluate the association between 1,400 serum metabolites and the risk of psoriasis. Causal effects were primarily assessed through the Inverse-Variance Weighted method and Wald Ratio’s odds ratios, and 95% confidence intervals. False Discovery Rate was used for multiple comparison corrections. Sensitivity analyses were conducted using Cochran’s Q Test, MR-PRESSO. MR-Steiger Test was employed to check for reverse causality. In the validation stage, we sought other sources of psoriasis GWAS data to verify the initial results and used meta-analysis to combine the effect sizes to obtain robust causal relationships. In addition, we also conducted metabolic pathway enrichment analysis on known metabolites that have a causal relationship with the risk of psoriasis in both stages.ResultsIn the initial stage, we identified 112 metabolites causally associated with psoriasis, including 32 metabolite ratios and 80 metabolites (69 known and 11 unknown). In the validation stage, 24 metabolites (16 known, 1 unknown, and 7 metabolite ratios) were confirmed to have a causal relationship with psoriasis onset. Meta-analysis results showed that the overall effect of combined metabolites was consistent with the main analysis in direction and robust in the causal relationship with psoriasis onset. Of the 16 known metabolites, most were attributed to lipid metabolism, with 5 as risk factors and 8 as protective factors for psoriasis. Peptidic metabolite Gamma-glutamylvaline levels had a negative causal relationship with psoriasis, while exogenous metabolite Catechol sulfate levels and amino acid 3-methylglutaconate levels had a positive causal relationship with the disease onset. The metabolites associated with psoriasis risk in the two stages are mainly enriched in the following metabolic pathways: Glutathione metabolism, Alpha Linolenic Acid and Linoleic Acid Metabolism, Biosynthesis of unsaturated fatty acids, Arachidonic acid metabolism, Glycerophospholipid metabolism.ConclusionCirculating metabolites may have a potential causal relationship with psoriasis risk, and targeting specific metabolites may benefit psoriasis diagnosis, disease assessment, and treatment.

Here, a spectrally selective solar absorber is explored and an ultra‐broadband solar absorber is proposed based on pyramidal structure. The finite‐difference in time domain (FDTD) software is used to model the spectral characteristics and magnetic absorption patterns of this absorber. The emissivity of the absorber is less than 20% in the far‐infrared band over 6000 nm, showing good selectivity, and the total solar thermal conversion efficiency is very close to that of an ideal truncated selective solar absorber by analyzing the performance of our proposed absorber‐related indexes. By studying the high absorption band of the absorber, the selectivity can be better investigated in depth. Here, 200–4000 nm is chosed as the depth study band. The absorber possesses an ultra‐wide bandwidth of 3554 nm and an average absorption of over 97.4%, and in the 200–3754 nm band, the absorber has an ultra‐high absorption rate of more than 98.3%, and its thermal emitter has a high emission efficiency of 94% at a temperature of 1000 K. Notably, the weighted average absorption in the 280–4000 nm band at AM1.5 is as high as 98.86%, with a loss of only 1.14%. The ultra‐broadband absorption property of this solar absorber is mainly a joint effect of surface plasmon resonance coupling.

Background: Psoriasis, a chronic skin condition characterized by systemic inflammation and altered gut microbiota, has been a target of Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) for centuries. Shenling Baizhu Powder (SLBZP), a TCM formulation, holds promise for treating inflammatory diseases, but its specific role in psoriasis and impact on gut microbiota is not fully understood.Objective: This study aims to elucidate the mechanism of SLBZP in treating psoriasis, integrating component analysis, network pharmacology, and experimental validation in mice models.Methods: We commenced with a detailed component analysis of SLBZP using liquid chromatograph and mass spectrometer (LC-MS). Network pharmacology analysis was used to predict the potential action targets and pathways of SLBZP in psoriasis. An in vivo experiment was conducted with psoriasis mice models, treated with SLBZP. Therapeutic effects were assessed via symptomatology, histopathology, and immunohistochemical analysis. Gut microbiota composition was analyzed using 16S rRNA gene sequencing.Results: A total of 42 main components and quality markers were identified, primarily from licorice and ginseng, including flavonoids, saponins and other markers. PPI topology analysis showed that TNF, IL-6, IL-1β, TP53 and JUN were the core DEPs. 168 signaling pathways including lipid and atherosclerosis, AGE-RAGE signaling pathway, IL-17 signaling pathway and Th17 cell differentiation were enriched by KEGG. SLBZP demonstrated significant therapeutic effects on psoriasis in mice, with alterations in skin pathology and biomarkers. Additionally, notable changes in gut microbiota composition were observed post-treatment, indicating a possible gut-skin axis involvement.Conclusion: This research has pinpointed lipid metabolism as a key pathway in the treatment of psoriasis with SLBZP. It explores how SLBZP’s modulation of gut microbiota and lipid metabolism can alleviate psoriasis, suggesting that balancing gut microbiota may reduce inflammation mediators and offer therapeutic benefits. This underscores lipid metabolism modulation as a potential new strategy in psoriasis treatment.

Abstract Upon encountering exogenous pathogens, polymorphonucleocytes (PMNs) engage in various processes to destroy them, including releasing neutrophil extracellular traps (NETs) that trap pathogens and induce phagocytosis and cytokine production. Parasites have unique strategies with which to evade the host's immune response. However, the strategy employed by Trichinella spiralis in response to the reaction of PMNs has yet to be elucidated. This study explored the effect of excretory/secretory products (ESP) on three major functions: NETs, phagocytosis, and cytokine production. Specifically, PMNs were pre-treated with the ESP of 3-day-old adults and then stimulated with phorbol 12-myristate 13-acetate (PMA). We found that in PMNs pretreated with ESP, PMA-induced NET generation was suppressed by ESP. ROS production is a hallmark of PMA-induced NETosis. The LDH assay results showed that ESP inhibits NETs by suppressing ROS rather than promoting PMN death. Furthermore, ESP enhanced Escherichia coli engulfment by PMNs, improving overall phagocytic function. Finally, cytokine analysis revealed an increase in pro-inflammatory cytokine IL-1β, and other cytokines (IL-10, TNF-α), while IL-4 displayed a significant reduction. In conclusion, this study has unraveled T. spiralis' evasion and regulation mechanisms against innate immune cells, providing insights into parasite strategies to manipulate host immunity, potentially informing new treatments for NET-related autoimmune diseases. By using artificial intelligence technology, it is possible to intelligently verify and monitor distribution automation terminals, improve their safety and reliability, and reduce power system operating and maintenance costs. At present, researchers are exploring a variety of application methods and algorithms of the distribution automation terminal intelligent acceptance system based on artificial intelligence, such as machine learning, deep learning and expert systems, and have made significant progress. This paper comprehensively reviews the existing research on the application of artificial intelligence technology in distribution automation systems, including fault detection, network reconfiguration, load forecasting, and network security. It undertakes a thorough examination and summarization of the major research achievements in the field of distribution automation systems over the past few years, while also analyzing the challenges that this field confronts. Moreover, this study elaborates extensively on the diverse applications of AI technology within distribution automation systems, providing a detailed comparative analysis of various algorithms and methodologies from multiple classification perspectives. The primary aim of this endeavor is to furnish valuable insights for researchers and practitioners in this domain, thereby fostering the advancement and innovation of distribution automation systems.

Background: Rett syndrome (RTT), caused by mutations in the X-linked gene encoding methyl-CpG binding protein 2 (MeCP2), severely impairs learning and memory. We previously showed that forniceal deep brain stimulation (DBS) stimulates hippocampal neurogenesis with concomitant improvements in hippocampal-dependent learning and memory in a mouse model of RTT. Objectives: To determine the duration of DBS benefits; characterize DBS effects on hippocampal neurogenesis; and determine whether DBS influences MECP2 genotype and survival of newborn dentate granular cells (DGCs) in RTT mice. Methods: Chronic DBS was delivered through an electrode implanted in the fimbria-fornix. We tested separate cohorts of mice in contextual and cued fear memory at different time points after DBS. We then examined neurogenesis, DGC apoptosis, and the expression of brain-derived neurotrophic factor (BDNF) and vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF) after DBS by immunohistochemistry. Results: After two weeks of forniceal DBS, memory improvements lasted between 6 and 9 weeks. Repeating DBS every 6 weeks was sufficient to maintain the improvement. Forniceal DBS stimulated the birth of more MeCP2-positive than MeCP2-negative DGCs and had no effect on DGC survival. It also increased the expression of BDNF but not VEGF in the RTT mouse dentate gyrus. Conclusion: Improvements in learning and memory from forniceal DBS in RTT mice extends well beyond the treatment period and can be maintained by repeated DBS. Stimulation of BDNF expression correlates with improvements in hippocampal neurogenesis and memory benefits.

Abstract Background Since China adopted a policy to eliminate rural learning centers, boarding has become an important feature of the current rural student community. However, there is a lack of consensus on the impact of boarding schools on students' cognitive and non-cognitive development. This study investigates the effect of boarding schools on the development of cognitive and non-cognitive abilities of junior high school students in rural northwest China. Methods Using a sample of 5,660 seventh-grade students from 160 rural junior high schools across 19 counties, we identify a causal relationship between boarding and student abilities with the instrumental variables (IV) approach. Results The results suggest that boarding positively influences memory and attention, while it has no significant effect on other cognitive abilities such as reasoning, transcription speed, and accuracy. Furthermore, we find no significant association between boarding and the development of non-cognitive skills. Conclusions Given the widespread prevalence of boarding schools in rural regions, our study highlights the growing importance of improving school management to promote the development of students’ cognitive abilities and integrating the development of non-cognitive or social-emotional abilities into students’ daily routines.

Neutron imaging technology as a means of non-destructive detection of materials is complementary to X-ray imaging. Silicon photomultiplier (SiPM), a new type of optical readout device, has overcome some shortcomings of traditional photomultiplier tube (PMT), such as high-power consumption, large volume, high price, uneven gain response, and inability to work in strong magnetic fields. Its application in the field of neutron detection will be an irresistible general trend. In this paper, a thermal neutron imaging detector based on 6LiF/ZnS scintillation screen and SiPM array readout was developed. The design of the detector geometry was optimized by geant4 Monte Carlo simulation software. The optimized detector was evaluated with a step wedge sample. The results show that the detector prototype with a 48 mm × 48 mm sensitive area can achieve about 38% detection efficiency and 0.26 mm position resolution when using a 300 μm thick 6LiF/ZnS scintillation screen and a 2 mm thick Bk7 optical guide coupled with SiPM array, and has good neutron imaging capability. It provides effective data support for developing high-performance imaging detectors applied to the China Spallation Neutron Source (CSNS).

When underwater acoustic signals propagate to the water surface, the acoustic impedance difference between water and air leads to transverse microamplitude waves on the water surface. These waves carry vibration frequencies containing relevant information about the sound source. Radar systems detect the slight displacement of the target through the phase difference between the target echoes; hence, radar systems can be used to detect small displacement changes on the water surface, thereby obtaining the water-surface vibration signal and subsequently inverting the underwater sound source information. In this study, we first analyzed the attenuation characteristics of underwater sound propagation and the physical model of water-surface vibration. Building upon the radar echo model for detecting acoustic water-surface vibration, we proposed a wavelet-Kalman filter signal detection method through theoretical analysis. Lastly, experiments were conducted in the large-scale comprehensive anechoic pool and the Yellow Sea water using terahertz radar for acoustic water-surface micromotion signal detection. The results demonstrate the capability of the terahertz radar to successfully detect acoustic water-surface microvibrations. The proposed method effectively filters water-surface interference and radar phase noise and extracts vibration signals. For the first time, submicron vibration signals were detected under a secondary sea state, providing a foundation for water-space transmedia information transmission and underwater vehicle detection.

Abstract Background Magnetic resonance-guided adaptive radiotherapy (MRgART) treatment sessions at MR-Linac are time-consuming and changes in organs at risk volumes can impact the treatment dosimetry. This study aims to evaluate the feasibility to control bladder filling during the rectum MRgART online session and its effectiveness on plan dosimetry. Methods A total of 109 online adaptive sessions of 24 rectum cancer patients treated at Unity 1.5 T MR-Linac with a short course radiotherapy (25 Gy, 5 Gy × 5) for whom the adaptive plan was optimized and recalculated online based on the daily magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) were analysed. Patients were fitted with a bladder catheter to control bladder filling; the bladder is emptied and then partially filled with a known amount of saline at the beginning and end of the online session. A first MRI ( $${\mathrm{MRI}}_{\mathrm{i}}$$ MRI i ) acquired at the beginning of the session was used for plan adaptation and the second ( $${\mathrm{MRI}}_{\mathrm{f}}$$ MRI f ) was acquired while approving the adapted plan and rigidly registered with the first to ensure the appropriateness of the isodoses on the ongoing delivery treatment. For each fraction, the time interval between the two MRIs and potential bladder changes were assessed with independent metrics, and the impact on the plan dosimetry was evaluated by comparing target and organs at risk dose volume histogram cut-off points of the plan adapted on $${\mathrm{MRI}}_{\mathrm{i}}$$ MRI i and recalculated on $${\mathrm{MRI}}_{\mathrm{f}}$$ MRI f . Results Median bladder volume variations, DSC, and HD of 8.17%, 0.922, and 2.92 mm were registered within a median time of 38 min between $${\mathrm{MRI}}_{\mathrm{i}}$$ MRI i and $${\mathrm{MRI}}_{\mathrm{f}}$$ MRI f ; dosimetric differences 0.05. Conclusion The use of a bladder filling control procedure can help ensure the dosimetric accuracy of the online adapted treatment delivered.

Abstract Objective To determine the efficacy of cataract surgeries in blindness prevention programs in Chongqing. Methods During February–December 2019, we prospectively enrolled 487 patients (592 eyes) undergoing cataract surgery during blindness prevention programs in 6 Chongqing district/county hospitals (experimental group) and 481 patients (609 eyes) undergoing cataract surgery in the First Affiliated Hospital of Chongqing Medical University (controls). Uncorrected visual acuity (UCVA), refractive status, best corrected visual acuity (BCVA), slit lamp examination, and visual function/quality of life (VF-QOL) questionnaire scores were evaluated preoperatively, and at 1 and 6 months postoperatively. Results In the experimental group, UCVA, BCVA, and VF-QOL scores at 1 and 6 months were better than the preoperative values (P 0.5 logMAR) in the experimental group were uncorrected refractive errors (33.0%), PCO (29.5%), and fundus diseases (33.9%). Conclusion Cataract surgeries in blindness prevention programs in Chongqing significantly improved visual acuity, VF, and QOL, but underperformed compared to surgeries in the tertiary teaching hospital.

Among non-destructive testing (NDT) techniques, fast neutron radiography with a higher penetration capability has achieved rapid advancements. However, the application of the radiography detector in many fast neutron imaging systems is limited by unfavorable detection efficiency and imaging spatial resolution. In this paper, a fast neutron radiography detector was designed, which was composed of a pixelated EJ200 scintillator array, a 16 × 16 silicon photomultiplier (SiPM) array, and capacitive multiplexing network readout electronics. The main parameters of the detector were optimized using Monte Carlo simulations. In addition, the prototype of the detector was fabricated and tested under a 14 MeV D-T neutron source. The preliminary test results demonstrated that the spatial resolution of the prototype reached 1.2 mm. Moreover, the conflict between spatial resolution and detection efficiency could be mitigated by using a pixelated scintillator structure. Overall, SiPMs enabled the extensive application of the imaging system because of their excellent photon detection performance, relatively low price, and joint possibility for large areas.

Spodoptera frugiperda was used to investigate its role as a trehalase inhibitor of three new thiothiazolidone compounds—6d, 6e, and 6f. The development and reproduction of S. frugiperda were investigated to evaluate the potential of these compounds as a novel pesticide for pest control. Compounds 6d, 6e, and 6f were injected into larvae and female pupae. Molecular changes in trehalose and chitin metabolism genes were monitored. Pupal trehalase activity, the female pupal emergence rate, ovarian development, and SfVg and SfVgR gene expression levels were assessed. The results revealed that all three compounds significantly inhibited trehalase activity in the larvae. The expression of TRE was significantly downregulated, and compounds 6d and 6f significantly downregulated the expression of TRE2. Treated larvae exhibited significantly decreased survival rates and a higher incidence of abnormalities. The egg production and hatching rates were markedly diminished by the inhibitors, and the ovaries displayed blackening and clumping. These compounds exhibit promise as eco-friendly insecticides, but further experiments are required to test their multifaceted capabilities.

Objective: Myomas of the uterus are the most common benign tumors of the female reproductive system. This article presents a detailed review of the suturing methods and ancillary techniques for uterine incision used in transumbilical single-port laparoscopic myomectomy in order to provide a reference for beginners and a research direction for the future development of this surgery. Mechanism: The authors reviewed credible search engines and literature databases (such as PubMed) for the period 2000–2023, extracted published data and content, and summarized the collected information. This was combined with the authors own surgical experience to provide a detailed description of the suture methods and ancillary techniques for uterine incision used in transumbilical single-port laparoscopic myomectomy. Findings in Brief: This review provides a comprehensive understanding of the suture methods and ancillary techniques for uterine incision commonly used in transumbilical single-port laparoscopic myomectomy. The advantages and limitations of different methods are also recognized. Conclusions: Suture methods for uterine incision in transumbilical single-port laparoscopic myomectomy include: simple interrupted suture, figure-of-eight suture, interrupted mattress suture, simple continuous suture and baseball type suture. Ancillary techniques for uterine incision in transumbilical single-port laparoscopic myomectomy include: needle hook assisted method, suspended line method, one-handed operation method and the modified operative method.

A 9-10-bit adjustable and energy-efficient switching scheme for SAR ADC with one-LSB common-mode voltage variation is proposed. Based on capacitor-splitting technology and common-mode conversion techniques, the proposed switching scheme reduces the DAC switching energy by 96.41% compared to the conventional scheme. The low complexity and the one-LSB common-mode voltage offset of this scheme benefit from the simultaneous switching of the reference voltages of the capacitors corresponding to the positive array and the negative array throughout the entire reference voltage switching process, and the reference voltage of each capacitor in the scheme does not change more than two voltages. The post-layout result shows that the ADC achieves the 54.96 dB SNDR, the 61.73 dB SFDR, and the 0.67 μw power consumption with the 10-bit mode and the 48.33 dB SNDR, the 54.17 dB SFDR, and the 0.47 μw power consumption with the 9-bit mode in a 180 nm process with a 100 kS/s sampling frequency.

Lung cancer is a global public health issue, with non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) accounting for 80–85 % of cases. With over two million new diagnoses annually, understanding the complex evolution of this disease is crucial. The development of lung cancer involves a complex interplay of genetic, epigenetic, and environmental factors, leading the key oncogenes and tumor suppressor genes to disorder, and activating the cancer related signaling pathway. Non-coding RNAs (ncRNAs), including microRNAs (miRNAs), long non-coding RNA (lncRNAs), and circular RNA (circRNAs) are unique RNA transcripts with diverse biological functions. These ncRNAs are generated through genome transcription and play essential roles in cellular processes. Epigenetic modifications such as DNA methylation, N6-methyladenosine (m6A) modification, and histone methylation have gained significant attention in NSCLC research. The complexity of the interactions among these methylation modifications and ncRNAs contribute to the precise regulation of NSCLC development. This review comprehensively summarizes the associations between ncRNAs and different methylation modifications and discusses their effects on NSCLC. By elucidating these relationships, we aim to advance our understanding of NSCLC pathogenesis and identify potential therapeutic targets for this devastating disease.

ABSTRACTBackground Hb Chapel Hill [Alpha2 74(EF3) Asp > Gly] results from an GAC > GGC substitution at codon 74 of the HBA1 or HBA2 genes. Hb Chapel Hill has not been reported since 1986.Methods A heterozygous mutation, HBA2: c.224A > G, was identified in the proband, her father and sister. We compared the haematological and clinical data of this family with the data reported in the limited number of individuals.Results Having excluded iron deficiency, the Hb Chapel Hill was asymptomatic in heterozygous state. The cases presented here characterize cases in new techniques including capillary electrophoresis (CE). Two aberrant peaks were identified by CE, a major peak migrating in the zone 7 that correspond to Hb Chapel Hill (αChapel Hill 2β2) and a minor peak migrating in the zone 1 that correspond to Hb Chapel Hill2 (αChapel Hill 2δ2). Focusing on the variant expression, the Hb Chapel Hill plus Hb A2 variant were around 18.9–20.6% of total Hb in three members.Conclusion This data will be useful for providing up-to-date and high quality information on the Hb Chapel Hill.

Magnetic resonance–guided adaptive radiotherapy (MRgART) represents the latest frontier in precision radiotherapy. It is distinguished from other modalities by the possibility of acquiring high-contrast soft tissue images, combined with the ability to recalculate and re-optimize the plan on the daily anatomy. The extensive database of available images offers ample scope for using disciplines such as radiomics to try to correlate features and outcomes. This study aimed to correlate the change of radiomics feature along the treatment to pathological complete response (pCR) for locally advanced rectal cancer (LARC) patients. Twenty-eight LARC patients undergoing neoadjuvant chemoradiotherapy (nCRT) with a short course (25 Gy, 5 Gy × 5f) MRgART at 1.5 Tesla MR-Linac were enrolled. The T2-weighted images acquired at each fraction, corresponding target delineation, pCR result of the surgical specimen, and clinical variables were collected. Seven families of features [First Order, Shape, Gray-level Co-occurrence Matrix (GLCM), Gray-level Dependence Matrix (GLDM), Gray-level Run Length Matrix (GLRLM), Gray-level Size Zone Matrix (GLSZM), and Neighborhood Gray Tone Difference Matrix (NGTDM)] were extracted, and delta features were calculated from the ratio of features of each successive fraction to those of the first fraction. Mann-Whitney U test and LASSO were utilized to reduce the dimension of features and select those features that are most significant to pCR. At last, the radiomics signatures were established by linear regression with the final set of features and their coefficients. A total of 581 radiomics features were extracted, and 2,324 delta features were calculated for each patient. Nineteen features and delta features, and one clinical variable (cN) were significant (p< 0.05) to pCR; seven predictive features were further selected and included in the linear regression to construct the radiomics signature significantly discriminating pCR and non-pCR groups (p< 0.05). Delta features based on MRI images acquired during a short course MRgART could potentially be used to predict treatment response in LARC patients undergoing nCRT.

The epidemic of COVID-19 is mainly manifested by respiratory symptoms caused by SARS-CoV-2 infection. Recently, reports of central nervous system diseases caused or aggravated by SARS-CoV-2 infection are also increasing. Thus, the COVID-19 pandemic poses an unprecedented challenge to the diagnosis and management of neurological disorders, especially to those diseases which have overlapping clinical and radiologic features with each other. In this study, a 31-year-old female patient had been diagnosed with relapsing–remitting multiple sclerosis (RRMS) initially and subsequently developed tumefactive demyelinating lesions (TDLs) following an infection with SARS-CoV-2. After immunotherapy (glucocorticoid pulses), a significant improvement was observed in her both clinical and radiological characteristics. The patient was started on disease-modifying therapy (DMT) with teriflunomide after cessation of oral glucocorticoids. Following two months of DMT treatment, the imaging follow-up revealed that the patient’s condition continued to deteriorate. This case was characterized by the transformation of a multiple sclerosis patient (MS) infected with SARS-CoV-2 into TDLs and the ineffectiveness of DMT treatment, which added complexity to its diagnosis and treatment. The case also gave us a hint that SARS-CoV-2 has a potential contributory role in inducing or exacerbating demyelinating diseases of the central nervous system that warrants further investigation.

Abstract Li6PS5Cl (LPSC) solid electrolytes, based on Argyrodite, have shown potential for developing high energy density and safe all‐solid‐state lithium metal batteries. However, challenges such as interfacial reactions, uneven Li deposition, and air instability remain unresolved. To address these issues, a simple and effective approach is proposed to design and prepare a solid electrolyte with unique structural features: Li6PS4Cl0.75‐OF0.25 (LPSC‐OF0.25) with protective LiF@Li2O nanoshells and F and O‐rich internal units. The LPSC‐OF0.25 electrolyte exhibits high ionic conductivity and the capability of “killing three birds with one stone” by improving the moist air tolerance, as well as the interface compatibility between the anode or cathode and the solid electrolyte. The improved performance is attributed to the peculiar morphology and the self‐generating and self‐healing interface coupling capability. When coupled with bare LiCoO2, the LPSC‐OF0.25 electrolyte enables stable operation under high cutoff voltage (≈4.65 V vs Li/Li+), thick cathodes (25 mg cm−2), and large current density (800 cycles at 2 mA cm−2). This rationally designed solid electrolyte offers promising prospects for solid‐state batteries with high energy and power density for future long‐range electric vehicles and aircrafts.

Abstract Malignant mesothelioma (MM) is a rare aggressive tumor, and bone metastasis often occurs in later stages of this disease. This study aimed to establish a nomogram to predict the prognosis of bone metastasis of patients with MM. Data from the Surveillance, Epidemiology, and End Results database were screened and retrieved. This study included 311 patients with MM with bone metastases. Prognostic factors were analyzed using the Kaplan–Meier method and Cox proportional hazards model. A nomogram for overall survival (OS) was established and evaluated using statistically significant prognostic factors, and cancer-specific survival (CSS) analysis was performed to investigate its prognostic factors. In addition, the metastasis patterns of patients with MM were investigated, and the effects of different sites of metastasis on survival were compared using the Kaplan–Meier method. Age, sex, histological type, and chemotherapy were identified as the independent risk factors for OS. The 1-, 2-, and 3-year areas under the curve of the nomogram were 0.792, 0.774, and 0.928, and 0.742, 0.733, and 0.733 in the training and validation sets, respectively. Compared to OS, histological type, radiotherapy, and chemotherapy were independent risk factors for CSS. Different metastatic sites in MM have significantly different effects on prognosis.

A field determination method for small D-T neutron source yield based on the oxygen prompt gamma rays was established. A neutron-gamma transport equation of the determination device was developed. Two yield field determination devices with a thickness of 20 mm and 50 mm were made. The count rates of the oxygen prompt gamma rays were calculated using three energy spectra processing approaches, which were the characteristic peak of 6.13 MeV, the overlapping peak of 6.92 MeV and 7.12 MeV, and the total energy area. The R-square of the calibration curve is better than 94% and the maximum error of the yield test is 5.21%, demonstrating that it is feasible to measure the yield of D-T neutron source by oxygen prompt gamma rays. Additionally，the results meet the requirements for field determination of the conventional D-T neutron source yield.

This work reports that the plastic deformation mechanism of lamellar microstructure (LM) in Ti-43.5Al-4Nb-1Mo-0.1B (TNM) alloy transforms from stacking faults (SFs)-dominated process to long-period stacking ordering (LPSO) structures-mediated process with a slight increase in lamellar spacing (LS) (20–36 nm). Multiple LPSO bands significantly enhance the work hardening response and trigger the transformation-induced plasticity (TRIP) effect, causing a four-fold higher ductility than SF-deformed LM at 750°C without compromising yield strength (YS). Abstract Background Fish-borne zoonotic clonorchiasis, caused by Clonorchis sinensis, is an emerging public health problem in several countries with more than 15 million people infected globally. However, a lack of accurate point-of-care (POC) diagnostic tests in resource-limited areas is still a critical barrier to effective treatment and control of clonorchiasis. The development of the recombinase polymerase amplification(RPA) assay, a POC diagnostic test based on the amplification of pathogen DNA, has provided a new, simple and inexpensive tool for disease detection with high sensitivity and specificity. Methods A novel RPA method was developed based on specific primers and probes, and combined with the dipstick, to allow for the rapid and intuitive detection of C. sinensis through the amplification of the mitochondrial cytochrome c oxidase subunit 1 (COX1) gene. The lower limit of detection for the combined RPA/lateral flow dipstick (RPA-LFD) assay was evaluated using dilutions of the target DNA sequence. Cross-reactivity was evaluated using genomic DNA from 10 additional control parasites. Forty human clinical stool samples were tested to verify its performance. Results The evaluated primers designed from the C. sinensis COX1 region can be used to detect adult worms, metacercariae, and eggs at 39 °C within 20 min, and the results can be visually observed using the LFD. The detection limit of pathogen genomic DNA was as low as 10 fg, and the number of metacercaria(e) in fish and egg(s) in faeces were both as low as one. This improved the sensitivity of low-infection detection tremendously. The test is species-specific, and no other related control parasites were detected. In human stool samples with eggs per gram (EPG) > 50, the RPA-LFD assay was performed consistent with conventional Kato-Katz (KK) and PCR methods. Conclusion The established RPA-LFD assay provides a powerful tool for the diagnosis and epidemiological survey of C. sinensis from human and animal samples, and has important implications for the effective control of clonorchiasis. As graphene-related technology advances, the benefits of graphene metamaterials become more apparent. In this study, a surface-isolated exciton-based absorber is built by running relevant simulations on graphene, which can achieve more than 98% perfect absorption at multiple frequencies in the MWIR (MediumWavelength Infra-Red (MWIR) band as compared to the typical absorber. The absorber consists of three layers: the bottom layer is gold, the middle layer is dielectric, and the top layer is patterned with graphene. Tunability was achieved by electrically altering graphene’s Fermi energy, hence the position of the absorption peak. The influence of graphene’s relaxation time on the sensor is discussed. Due to the symmetry of its structure, different angles of light source incidence have little effect on the absorption rate, leading to polarization insensitivity, especially for TE waves, and this absorber has polarization insensitivity at ultra-wide-angle degrees. The sensor is characterized by its tunability, polarisation insensitivity, and high sensitivity, with a sensitivity of up to 21.60 THz/refractive index unit (RIU). This paper demonstrates the feasibility of the multi-frequency sensor and provides a theoretical basis for the realization of the multi-frequency sensor. This makes it possible to apply it to high-sensitivity sensors.
