Two new organic–inorganic hybrid compounds, [Cu(phen)(prz)]2[PMoV1MoVI7VIV2VV4O42]·4H2O (1) and [Ag2(phen)4]2[PMoV1MoVI7VIV2VV4O42] (2) (phen = 1,10-phenanthroline, prz = pyrazine), have been synthesized and characterized by IR, XPS, XRD, UV–vis, fluorescent spectra analyses, elemental analyses, X-ray diffraction analyses, TG analyses, and cyclic voltammetric measurements. Both compounds are formed by Keggin POM cores and transition metal fragments. Compound1exhibits an unprecedented 1-D chain structure constructed from [PMoV1MoVI7VIV2VV4O42]4−and [Cu(phen)(prz)]2+in the –A–B↑–C–B↓– linking mode. Two new compounds, [CuCl(Phen)(H2O)][PW12O40][4,4′-H2bpy]·1.5H2O (1) and [Cd2(Phen)4Cl2][HPMo12O40](4,4′-bpy) (2) (bpy = bipyridine, Phen = phenanthroline), have been hydrothermally prepared and characterized by IR, UV–vis, XPS, XRD, elemental analysis, cyclic voltammetry analysis, and single-crystal X-ray diffraction analysis. Five new inorganic–organic hybrids based on 4,4′-bipyridine and Keggin-type polyoxometalate [SiMo12O40]4−, (SiMo12O40)(H2bipy)2·2H2O (1), [Cu(Hbipy)4(HSiMo12O40)(SiMo12O40)](H2bipy)0.5·7H2O (2), [Cu2(Hbipy)6(bipy)(SiMo12O40)3](Hbipy)2·6H2O (3), [Cu(bipy)2(SiMo12O40)](H2bipy)·2H2O (4) and [Cu2(bipy)4(H2O)4](SiMo12O40)·13H2O (5) (bipy=4,4′-bipyridine), have been hydrothermally synthesized. 1 consists of H2bipy2+ and [SiMo12O40]4− units. In 2, two [SiMo12O40]4− are bridged by [Cu(Hbipy)4]6+ to form a [Cu(Hbipy)4(SiMo12O40)2]2− dimmer. In 3, [SiMo12O40]4− polyanions acting as bidentated bridging ligands and monodentated auxiliary ligands connect [Cu2(Hbipy)6(bipy)]8+ units into a 1D zigzag chain. In 4, [SiMo12O40]4− polyanions bridge neighboring 1D [Cu(bipy)2]2+ double chains into a 2D extended layer. In 5, [SiMo12O40]4− polyanions acting as templates site alternately upon the grids from both sides of the square grid [Cu2(bipy)4(H2O)4]4+ layer. Two compounds based on polyoxometalates, (4,4'-H2bpy)7(4,4'-Hbpy)[ [image omitted]]2[ [image omitted]] ·10H2O (1) and (4,4'-H2bpy)6(4,4'-bpy)[ [image omitted]]2 · 18H2O (2), have been prepared under hydrothermal conditions and characterized by IR, XPS spectra, TG analyses, and single crystal X-ray diffraction. Abstract: Two new supramolecular compounds based on arsenic vanadates formulated as [H2As6V15O42(H2O)][Co(H2O)6]2·2H2O (1) and [H2As6V15O42(H2O)][Ni(H2O)6]2·2H2O (2) have been prepared by reacting V2O5, H2C2O4·2H2O, As2O3,·H2SO4, CoCl2·6H2O (NiSO4·6H2O) and enMe (enMe=1,2-diaminopropane) under mild hydrothermal conditions and characterized by elemental analyses, IR, ESR, XPS and single crystal X-ray diffraction analyses. Crystal structure analyses reveal that compounds 1 and 2 are isostructural and exhibit novel 2-D supramolecular layer structures constructed from arsenic–vanadium clusters and two different types of secondary building units (SBUs), respectively, the different SBUs are formed by joint of two adjacent [Co(H2O)6]2+ cations in compounds 1 and [Ni(H2O)6]2+ cations in 2, respectively. Abstract: A novel polyoxometalate [Cu(en)2(H2O)]2[Cu(en)2]2 [AsW9V7O44]·2H2O (1) has been hydrothermally synthesized and characterized by elemental analysis, IR spectrum, XPS spectrum and single crystal X-ray diffraction analysis. The new polyoxometalate double-supporting transition metal complexes, {[Co(phen) 2 ] 2 C 2 O 4 } {H 2 P O 44 [Co(phen) 2 H 2 O] 2 }·7H 2 O (1) (phen  =  1,10-phenanthroline) have been hydrothermally synthesized and characterized by single crystal X-ray analysis, IR, XPS, ESR and elemental analysis. Compound 1 is composed of a highly reduced tetra-capped pseudo-Keggin polyoxoanion supporting two transition metal complexes, a binuclear cobalt complex cation and lattice water. The compound [Cu(en)2]1.5[H3As6V15O42(H2O)] · 3H2O 1 (en=ethylenediamine) has been synthesized and characterized by elemental analysis, IR spectrum and single crystal X-ray diffraction analysis. Crystal structure analysis reveals that compound 1 is not only the first example of one-dimensional sinusoidal chain structure constructed from polyoxometalates and coordination complex fragments but also the first example of one-dimensional chain of polyoxometalates where clusters are connected by one coordination complex fragment and two coordination complex fragments alternatively. The compound [Zn(H2O)4]2[H2As6V15O42(H2O)]·2H2O (1) has been synthesized and characterized by elemental analysis, IR, ESR, magnetic measurement, third-order nonlinear property study and single crystal X-ray diffraction analysis. The compound 1 crystallizes in trigonal space group R3, a=b=12.0601(17) A˚, c=33.970(7) A˚, γ=120°, V=4278.8(12) A˚3, Z=3 and R1(wR2)=0.0512 (0.1171). The crystal structure is constructed from [H2As6V15O42(H2O)]4− anions and [Zn(H2O)4]2+ cations linked through hydrogen bonds into a network. The [H2As6V15O42(H2O)]6− cluster consists of 15 VO5 square pyramids linked by three As2O5 handle-like units. [Copyright &y& Elsevier]

The novel polyoxovanadate containing antimony [(C2N2H10)2β-{SbIII8VIV14O42(H2O)}](C2N2H8) · 4H2O has been synthesized from a mixture of VOSO4, Sb2O3, en and H2O under hydrothermal conditions. The spherical [β-{SbIII8VIV14O42(H2O)}]4− clusters form a one-dimensional double-chain structure with non-bonding Sb ⋯ O contacts. [Copyright &y& Elsevier]

Four new compounds based on Keggin polyoxotungstates and transition metal complexes have been synthesized and characterized by IR, UV–Vis, XRD, XPS, elemental analysis and X-ray diffraction analysis. [Cd(2,2′-bpy) 3 ][HPW 12 O 40 ](2,2′-bpy) ( 1 ) and [TBA] 2 [Mn(phen) 3 ][HBW 12 O 40 ]·2H 2 O ( 2 ) (bpy = bipyridine, phen = 1,10-phenanthroline, TBA = tetrabutylammonium) are two multi-component compounds, of which compound 1 is formed by [HPW 12 O 40 ] 2− , [Cd(2,2′-bpy) 3 ] 2+ and 2,2′-bpy, and compound 2 is constructed from [BW 12 O 40 ] 5− , [Mn(phen) 3 ] 2+ and TBA + species. {[Co(phen) 2 (H 2 O)] 2 [HAlW 12 O 40 ]]}·3H 2 O ( 3 ) is a Keggin polyoxotungstate bi-supported transition metal complex. {[Cd(2,2′-bpy) 2 ] 2 [SiW 12 O 40 ]} ( 4 ) is a 2-D layered framework structure of [SiW 12 O 40 ] 4− bridge by [Cd(2,2′-bpy) 2 ] 2+ . Abstract: Two new interesting polyoxometalate derivatives 1 and 2 constructed of modified metal–oxo cluster ions carrying positive and negative changes, respectively, was hydrothermally prepared and structurally characterized by IR, ESR, XPS, elemental analysis and X-ray crystallography. The result of structure determination shows that compound 1 and 2 are isostructural and both contain polyoxocation and polyoxoanion, and both cation and anion are built on mixed Mo–V tetra-capped pseudo-Keggin units with P centre, [Mo8V8O40(PO4)]n-, bonded to four or two [Ni(2,2′-bipy)2H2O]2+ complexes, respectively, via terminal oxygen of the capping V atoms. Abstract: A novel polyoxometalate [PW11O39Ni(4,4′-Hbpy)]·(4,4′-H2bpy)2·3H2O (1) has been hydrothermally synthesized and characterized by IR, XPS, TG, elemental analysis and single-crystal X-ray diffraction analysis. Abstract: A novel compound [P2W18M3O68][Cu(en)2]4·7H2O·2OH− (M=0.5W+0.5Cu) 1 which contains the first example of extended structure constructed from Knoth-type sandwich polyoxoanions and transition metal coordination complexes has been hydrothermally synthesized and characterized by elemental analysis, IR spectrum, UV–Vis spectrum and single-crystal X-ray diffraction analysis. Five new compounds based on {XM 12 O 40 } (X ​= ​P, Si, M ​= ​W, Mo) were synthesized and characterized by IR, UV–Vis, XRD, cyclic voltammetry and single crystal X-ray diffraction analysis. [Cd 2 (phen) 4 (inic)(Cl)][HPW 12 O 40 ] (1 , inic ​= ​isonicotinic acid, phen ​= ​1,10-phenanthroline), [Cd 2 (phen) 4 (inic)(Cl)][HPMo 12 O 40 ]∙H 2 O (2), and [Cd 2 (phen) 4 (nic)(Cl)][HPMo 12 O 40 ]∙H 2 O (3 , nic ​= ​nicotinic acid) are isostructural and isomorphous to one another. Compounds 1 and 2 are both constructed from [XM 12 O 40 ]3- and transition metal mixed-organic-ligand complexes (TMMCs) of inic−, whereas compound 3 is formed by [XM 12 O 40 ]3- and TMMCs of nic−. [Cd 2 (phen) 4 (pic)][PMo 12 O 40 ] (4 , pic ​= ​picolinic acid) is made up of [PMo 12 O 40 ]3- and supported cadmium-pic-phen complexes. [Ag(py) 2 ] 0.75 [H 3.25 SiW 12 O 40 ](py) (5 , py ​= ​pyridine) is based on [H 3.25 SiW 12 O 40 ]-0.75 and silver complexes of py. It should be noted that py ligands in compound 5 are in-situ synthesized from pic hydrothermally. The photodegradation properties for compounds 1 – 5 have been studied.
