The study includes a survey on various Respiratory Tract Infections emerging among pediatrics of age groups ranging from 1 month to 12 years, at various Hospitals in and around the Nandyal region of Andhra Pradesh, India. The study was conducted with a questionnaire-based survey with informed assent forms from the parents of the 144 minor male and female subjects, 44.4% and 55.6% respectively among each gender. Among the study subjects, 75% were from urban regions and 25% were from rural regions. Results revealed upper Respiratory Tract Infections of which 30.6% of subjects were infected with Otitis media, 11.1% were infected with Sinusitis, and 2.7% were diagnosed with Tonsillitis. The lower Respiratory Tract Infections of which 30.6% of subjects were infected with Pneumonia, 11.1% were infected, and 11.1% were infected with Tuberculosis. Disorders related to Shortness of Breath were Bronchitis observed among 33.3% with Paroxysmal Nocturnal Dyspnoea, 22.2% with Dyspnoea, and 11.1% were infected with Orthopnea. Among the study population, 52.8% reported experiencing with history of respiratory tract illness, and 50% of the subject's family members with positive history of RTI. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Analysis of data collected from a simple random sample of 1130 faculty members belonging to 37 Engineering colleges affiliated to JNTU-Anantapur using a questionnaire, reveals that most of the faculty members are using textbooks (97.3%), and Internet (85.7%) for their teaching activity. Further, most of the faculty members are using e-journals (80.1%) and Internet (79.0%) for their research activity. Most of the faculty members are satisfied with latest editions of books available (79.8%) and with the multiple copies available for prescribed textbooks in their libraries (75.02%). Most of them (77.3%) are consulting periodicals for their teaching and research work. Most of them (78.1%) are satisfied with the present collection of periodicals. Nearly half of them (51.3%) are consulting indexing and abstracting periodicals to know the latest literature for their teaching and research needs. Most of them (77.2%) replied that the latest issues of periodicals are available in their libraries concerned. Majority of the faculty members replied that current issues of periodicals (68.8%) and the back volumes of periodicals (60.5%) are not issued for home reading. Most of them (81.8%) replied that their libraries are subscribing to e-journals. Majority of them (53.7%) replied that their libraries are not subscribing to e-books. Analysis of data collected from the librarians of 37 selected engineering colleges by simple random method out of 119 colleges affiliated to JNTU-Anantapur using a questionnaire reveals that majority of the engineering college libraries are fulfilling AICTE norms with regard to number of titles (75.68%) and volumes of books (83.78%) Majority of them are fulfilling AICTE norms with regard to subscription of national journals (56.75%) and international journals (75.68%), and are not fulfilling with regard to subscription of e-journals (97.30%). Majority of the libraries (91.90%) are fulfilling the norm with regard to number of computer systems. Majority of them (67.57%) have the provision for computerized circulation of books with barcode. Almost all the libraries (97.30%) do not have RFID system to detect to the book theft. Majority of them are fulfilling the norms with regard to digital library (94.59%), Photocopying service (75.68 %), printing facility (59.46 %), scanning facility (54.05.%), and NPTEL courseware (86.49%). AICTE norm regarding classification of books according to a standard scheme is fulfilled by all the libraries. Finally it is recommended that AICTE, Government of Andhra Pradesh and JNTU - Anantapur, should take necessary measures to pressurise the authorities of college libraries to adhere to the norms at the time of permission, affiliation and inspection of their respective colleges. In this article the authors examine the libraries of medical schools located in the Andhra Pradesh region of India. The article notes problems in the promotion of public health by the Indian government and the late development of professional education and achievement in the health sciences in the 60 years since India achieve independence. A number of topics are addressed including the adoption of technological innovation in medical libraries, the qualifications and payment scale of medical college librarians in Andhra Pradesh, and the procedure for lending library materials.

Objectives: The present study was conducted to assess dental fluorosis and to compare fluorosis in incisor teeth among 13- to 15-year-old school children of Nalgonda district, Andhra Pradesh. Methods: Cross-sectional analytical study was conducted. A total of 1000 school children aged 13 to 15 years were selected by stratified cluster sampling from 4 different areas with different levels of naturally occurring fluoride in drinking water. Fluorosis was recorded using TF index (TFI). Results: Prevalence of fluorosis (TFI score, ≥1) was 100% at all the 4 different fluoride levels. The prevalence and severity increased with increased fluoride levels in drinking water. Prevalence and severity of fluorosis did not show any significant variation between maxillary and mandibular incisor teeth. Conclusion: There is a high prevalence of mildto- moderate fluorosis in Nalgonda district, even in areas with optimal fluoride levels in water. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

The article focuses on the study of finding a rare titanium-niobium-rich astrophyllite in the Podili alkali granite pluton in Andhra Pradesh, India. It mentions that occurrence of astrophyllite, a hydrous potassium iron titanium silicate, has been the result of immense petrographic and mineral chemistry studies. It also mentions that chemical composition of astrophyllite grains has been determined by electron microprobe.
