The main objective of this paper is to analyze the relationship between women's football and lesbianism during the 1970s in Spain as well as the invisibility characteristics of this group of women in the context of the invisibility of women's football in this period and in the context of the political transition until 1982. In the repressive context of late Francoism and given the validity until 1978 of laws that expressly persecuted homosexuality, social, cultural, legal, and political pressure had a very important impact on lesbian women who participated in the incipient practice of football in Spain in the 1970s. Some of these players built gay social networks through sports clubs and later started clandestine meetings in bars and private celebrations. The period studied—between 1970 and 1982—coincided with the rebirth of women's football in Spain and the international emergence of this sport. The research has been based on the use of in-depth interview as a method and historiographical technique that has allowed us to obtain the life stories of nine lesbian or heterosexual women football players in different Spanish cities (who in general have lived and live in a private sexual identity) and two coaches linked to women's teams. These sources have been expanded and contrasted from others of a documentary nature (specialized press and bibliography) to reconstruct the context studied and contrast the reliability of the information collected. In conclusion, it has been established that, despite the low visibility of women's football and homosexuality, the legal pressure of the period and the opposition of the public authorities and institutions of the dictatorship, the field of football allowed these women to overcome some of the difficulties in the process of building their identity and discrimination based on sexual orientation. In turn, support networks—especially of teammates—private parties and atmosphere bars, were fundamental to the life experience of young lesbian athletes in the still repressive context of the end of the Franco dictatorship and the first years of the young democratic regime in Spain. - Abstract
Case: We present a 79-year-old woman with a complex elbow fracture including a comminuted proximal ulna fracture, coronoid process fracture, and comminuted radial head fracture treated with primary total elbow arthroplasty (TEA). The patient completed an early therapy protocol and had complete healing. At 15 months postoperatively, she had full pronosupination and elbow arc of motion from 10 to 135° with no reported pain. Conclusion: Primary treatment of unstable, complex fractures of the proximal ulna and radius with TEA has not been previously reported in the literature. This case reports suggests that indications for primary TEA for traumatic elbow injuries in the elderly could be expanded. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

BACKGROUND: Percutaneous vertebroplasty is the most widely used method for the treatment of osteoporotic vertebral compression fractures, and most studies have concluded that percutaneous vertebroplasty increases the probability of adjacent vertebral secondary compression fractures in patients with osteoporotic vertebral compression fractures. However, controversy remains regarding the risk factors associated with adjacent vertebral re-fracture caused after percutaneous vertebroplasty. OBJECTIVE: To summarize the influencing factors of adjacent vertebral compression fractures after percutaneous vertebroplasty in patients with osteoporotic vertebral compression fractures, in order to provide a certain reference for reducing the risk of its occurrence as well as formulating the corresponding treatment plan. METHODS: Using “osteoporosis, fracture, percutaneous vertebroplasty, adjacent vertebral compression fractures, risk factors” as the Chinese search terms, “osteoporosis, osteoporotic vertebral compression fractures, percutaneous vertebroplasty, adjacent vertebral compression fractures, risk factors” as English search terms, computerized searches were conducted on CNKI, Wanfang Medical Network, VIP, PubMed, Springer, ScienceDirect, and Elsevier databases. The search timeframe focuses on January 2018 through September 2023, with the inclusion of a few classic forward literature. The literature was screened by reading the titles and abstracts, and 83 papers were finally included in the review. RESULTS AND CONCLUSION: (1) Osteoporotic vertebral compression fractures are one of the most common complications of osteoporosis, placing elderly patients at a significant risk of disability and death. Percutaneous vertebroplasty is a practical and effective treatment for osteoporotic vertebral compression fractures. (2) With the popularity of percutaneous vertebroplasty, its secondary vertebral compression fractures have gradually increased, with adjacent vertebral compression fractures being the most common. (3) Previous studies have only discussed the effects of factors such as bone mineral density, multiple vertebral fractures, body mass index, age, sex, amount of bone cement, cement leakage, and anti-osteoporosis treatment on secondary compression fractures of adjacent vertebrae after percutaneous vertebroplasty, and summarized the number of vertebral fractures, timing of the operation, surgical approach, cement material, diffuse distribution of bone cement, recovery height of the injured vertebrae, and wearing of a support after surgery, which is not yet comprehensive. The analysis of the specific mechanisms of risk factor-induced adjacent vertebral fractures is relatively rare. (4) The results of the article showed that low bone mineral density, advanced age, perimenopausal women, multiple vertebral fractures, excessive recovery of the height of the injured vertebrae, cement leakage, comorbid underlying diseases, and poor lifestyle habits were the risk factors for secondary adjacent vertebral compression fractures after percutaneous vertebroplasty, and that maintaining a normal body mass index, early surgery, bilateral percutaneous vertebroplasty, use of a new type of cement material, an appropriate volume of bone cement injection and uniform cement dispersion, regular anti-osteoporosis treatment, and postoperative brace wearing are protective factors for secondary adjacent vertebral compression fractures after percutaneous vertebroplasty. LONG-acting reversible contraceptives , *STERILIZATION of women , *STERILIZATION (Birth control) , *INTRAUTERINE contraceptives , *REPRODUCTIVE health - Abstract
AbstractObjectiveMethodResultsConclusion\nSHORT CONDENSATIONTo analyse the understanding of deaf women regarding contraceptive methods. We conducted a qualitative descriptive study in two referral centres for sexual and reproductive health (SRH) in São Paulo, Brazil, trough years 2020–2022. Twenty-eight deaf women who use Brazilian Sign Language (LIBRAS) were interviewed face-to-face and remotely via videocall using a semi-structured questionnaire containing sociodemographic and clinical data and questions about understanding and knowledge of contraceptive methods. We performed a content analysis through transcription, interpretation, and validation of the LIBRAS translation with the assistance of NVivo software.Communication barrier (28/28) was the primary factor associated with low knowledge about contraceptive methods. Regarding barrier methods, 20 (71%) participants reported be familiar with condoms, 13 (46%) with diaphragms, 20 (71%) about oral contraceptives, and 17 (60%) about injectable methods. Concerning long-acting reversible contraceptives (LARCs), 16 (57%) were aware about intrauterine devices and 7 (25%) with subdermal implants. Fifteen (53%) of participants were aware about female and male permanent contraception. Unplanned pregnancy rate was 59% and use of fertility awareness methods was reported by 6 (21%), barrier methods 5 (17%), short-acting methods 6 (21%), LARC 2 (7%) and permanent contraception among 4 (14%).In our sample of deaf women, condoms and oral contraceptives were identified more often and were more in use. All interviewed deaf women cited communication as a barrier to accessing information about contraceptive methods, highlighting the low knowledge and use of LARC.Communication barrier was the main factor pointed out by the deaf participant women, associated with low awareness and a low usage rate of more effective contraceptives. Our data is important for the development of health policies aimed at creating new reproductive counselling techniques for deaf women. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

The article "Improvement in diagnostic-therapeutic care pathways for women with migraine: an Italian Delphi panel" by Cevoli et al. discusses the need to enhance diagnostic and treatment pathways for women with migraine, particularly in relation to breast cancer. The study found a higher prevalence of migraine in women with breast cancer compared to the general female population, suggesting potential shared pathophysiological mechanisms. The article also highlights the importance of a multidisciplinary approach to headache management in cancer patients, emphasizing the need for better patient education and collaboration between oncologists and neurologists. - Abstract
Language is a tool used to express people's feelings and thoughts, and while this tool changes and develops in the process, it also transmits various cultural elements from generation to generation. Language provides information about the social-cultural structure of the society, depending on its content or methods of use. Language is also used as a secret means of communication through symbols. Cultural elements such as motifs or symbols express any emotion or thought in a latent form. During periods when the patriarchal thought system was dominant, women in society used language as a secret means of communication. This system of thought has determined the role and social status of women in society. The patriarchal thought system has caused the formation of suppressed emotions, thoughts and behaviors on the female identity. In China, a woman is the person in the house. In some periods in China, women were defined as "housekeepers" and positioned at home. In certain periods in Chinese culture, women have become passive individuals who are placed at home and do not have the independence to express their feelings and thoughts. This situation led to the formation of the Nüshu culture, which is a tool for women to express their feelings and thoughts. The subject of this study is the Nüshu language, which is a secret means of communication and is generally a means of communication of women. The main purpose of the research is to make a social-cultural analysis in a functional context of the Nüshu writing technique developed by women in China based on embroidery and knitting motifs. In this evaluation made on the basis of functional folklore theory, culture is produced in parallel with social need and continues to live in society as long as it meets the need in a functional sense. Looking at Chinese examples, it can be said that the Nüshu written language was invented depending on social and cultural needs, and this written language was passed down from generation to generation as it continued to provide functional benefits, especially for the purpose of escaping social and personal pressures. Nüshu has been an important communication tool that provides information about the feelings and thoughts of women in society and the social status of women in society. Despite all kinds of pressure and obstacles, women who have difficulty expressing their feelings and thoughts in society have created their own cultural environment by rejecting this situation. Language has been used as a secret communication tool among women for years without being noticed by other segments of society. Women who could not meet the expectations of society were called abnormal and faced the danger of being labeled and excluded by society. Such fears have pushed women into a passive position. The passive woman protested this situation and created her own culture to escape social and individual pressures. During this period, ideal behaviors were expected from women living in China within the framework of the rules determined by the society. In the letters written with Nüshu, recommendations were made for the society to behave within the framework of appropriate rules. It is shown that a passive image of women was created at that time by giving advice that a woman's duty is to serve her family and obey the rules. Thanks to Nüshu, women have continued to express their repressed feelings and thoughts, existed in society, strengthened their relationships with their peers, and most importantly, felt the sense of belonging. ORAL tradition , *SIXTEENTH century , *OTTOMAN Empire , *WOMEN'S history , *BRIDES , *WEDDINGS - Abstract
Kızana Tekke was founded in the sixteenth century in the village of Sait Baba in Eskicuma. The first sheikh who is thought to have sat on the post of the tekke was a woman dervish named Kızana, from which the tekke took its name. Information about Kızana first appears in Demir Baba Velâyetnamesi. Kızana is the best woman of the bride at the wedding of Demir Baba's father Hacı Dede and mother Zahide Başu, as described in the velayetname. At this wedding, Kızana was made to wear a hilat by El-Hac Dede, Tursun Baba and Kademli Baba. There are many stories about Kizana in the oral tradition. One of them has similar characteristics with Sarıkız in Manisa. The common point of the narratives is that the woman in the character of a saint has come to a respected place among the people over time and started to serve the people. The starting point of these narratives is based on the Alevi-Bektashi tradition. The values overlapping with the position of women in the Alevi-Bektashi tradition brought Kızana to the position of sheikh of the tekke as a female dervish and had the tekke named after her. The fact that the tekke, which still exists today, has guests is important in terms of preserving its prestige and its place in the Alevi-Bektashi tradition. While preparing the study, archival documents were used to reveal its position and service area from past to present. The documents, which are found from five different funds, draw attention to different features of the tekke. After the establishment and function of the Kızana Tekke was revealed, its place in the oral tradition was explained. It is important in terms of showing the position of women in the Alevi-Bektashi tradition and the fact that the sheikh of the tekke established at an early date in the Balkans was a woman. Choosing between the variety of existing intervention approaches in favor of victims of gender violence inhibits focusing on research concerning support for women to get out of violent situations, rebuild their lives, or minimize the consequences of violence. The aim of this paper is to collect information that allows the intervention to be adapted to the specific needs that women perceive they have, so that it has a positive impact on their lives and establishes through a response comparison whether the intervention has been really successful in terms of well-being parameters. The homeostatic theory of subjective well-being and the personal well-being index were used to evaluate the level of satisfaction that the participating women had with their lives at the beginning and end of the intervention, which results in an index of well-being in each person measured through the answer to questions that start from the generality. The main result of the intervention was the acquisition of skills by the women that allowed the valuation of what they have and the importance of not clinging to or idealizing certain things that can have a negative impact on other areas of well-being. Hope is a common phenomenon in human life. The process of infertile women being treated with assisted reproductive technology is difficult. The concept of hope can be applied in the nursing practice to help patients have a positive treatment experience, reduce feelings of despair, and find significance in difficult treatments. This study used phenomenological approach to understand the essential structure of the hope experiences of infertile women after successful artificial reproduction. A total of 10 infertile women who were successfully pregnant for more than 8 weeks and less than 24 weeks participated in this study. The essence of the hope experiences of infertile women after successful artificial reproduction was the process of "becoming a mother" which included four themes: (1) try hard to get pregnant; (2) outline a blueprint for the future of motherhood; (3) protect the fetus; and (4) integrate the fetus into the family. This study enabled medical teams to play the role of caregivers, intervened in hope care, and strengthened evidence‐based practice to improve the quality of care by focusing on feelings of hope. Objectives: The use of digital healthcare technologies to enhance healthcare delivery has seen significant growth. However, a notable a notable research gap exists in the application of clinical scales for menopause management by general practitioners (GPs). This study aims to investigate willingness of GPs to use specific menopausal scale tools in the care of females for menopause management. Method: An anonymous online survey was developed, which received responses from 348 French GPs in 2023. Multiple backward logistic regression was performed to identify the factors influencing the willingness to use a practical menopause management scale. Results: In total, 87.93% of GPs are not familiar with the Greene Climacteric Scale and 90.52% are not familiar with the Menopause Quick 6 scale. In contrast, 90.52% would be interested in having access to such scales. The willingness to use a menopause management scale is associated with caring for menopausal females (odds ratio [OR] = 6.13, 95% confidence interval [CI] [2.08–18.08], p = 0.001), less experience (OR = 7.10, 95% CI [2.05–25.22], p = 0.002), the importance of health prevention in daily practice (comparing 'very important' to 'not', OR = 12.98, 95% CI [1.68–97.60], p = 0.004) and the use of a digital scale in daily practice for menopausal management (OR = 2.13, 95% CI [1.04–5.83], p = 0.014). Conclusion: Future research is essential in representative population to confirm these findings in menopause management. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Background: Radical cystectomy in women generally includes the removal of the uterus, ovaries, and anterior vaginal wall, but the criteria for reproductive organ sparing are not clear. Methods: A total of 2674 patients with bladder cancer were retrospectively reviewed, having undergone cystectomy at this nationwide multicenter from January 2013 to December 2019. We evaluated the incidence of malignancy in reproductive organs in a cohort of 417 women and analyzed the clinicopathological features of reproductive organ involvement. Recurrence-free survival and overall survival were reported using Kaplan–Meier survival curves. Results: Median follow-up was 36.9 months. Of the 417 patients with urothelial carcinoma of the bladder, 325 underwent hysterectomy, and 92 had a spared uterus and anterior wall of the vagina. Twenty-nine (8.9%) patients exhibited reproductive organ involvement; this consisted of 22 (6.8%) uteri, 16 (4.9%) vaginas, and two (0.6%) ovaries. Incidental primary reproductive malignancies were found in only two (0.6%) patients. Recurrence-free survival and overall survival were significantly shorter in patients with reproductive organ involvement than in those without. Patients with reproductive organ involvement were more likely to have tumors with ≥ cT3 or sub-localization at the posterior/trigone/bladder neck. Conclusions: The risk of reproductive organ involvement cannot be ignored in women undergoing radical cystectomy for urothelial carcinoma of the bladder, therefore, the eligibility criteria for reproductive organ preservation should be considered carefully. KURDISH women ,SOCIAL movements - Abstract
This article reflects on the 'Woman, Life, Freedom' uprising in Iran (2022/23) in light of the politicisation of mourning. It argues that this uprising represented a singular afterlife of Antigone's impediment of burial. In other words, the initial event of the murder of a Kurdish woman (Mahsa/Jina Amini) that sparked this uprising should not be reduced to the tension between one woman and the clerical class over the compulsory dress code, the clash between two value systems or worldviews, nor to the saga of a heroic individual fighting abstract institutions as the liberal narrative would have it. Rather, at stake is the Marxian problem of the exposure of contradictions and cracks in the social reality itself, the unveiling of deep-rooted antagonisms of a power structure grounded on the simultaneous acknowledgment and disavowal of a great portion of the population. The article shows how the very bodies of the dead protesters became the sites of relentless struggle and subversion. The excessive violence of the state in this uprising manifested itself in the denial of proper burial rites and blockage of funerals, a deprivation and violation that came back to haunt the state and challenge its symbolic power. Just like the unburied corpse of Polyneices, the mistreated dead bodies of the demonstrators bring to light what remains unconcealable and uncontainable in the desperate, brute force of the power-structure to prolong its own lifespan and buy legitimacy for its reign. BACKGROUND Evidence has indicated that nocturia is a clinical manifestation of adverse health conditions, including cardiovascular diseases and metabolic disorders. However, previous studies are less available for the clinical implication of nocturia on the development of hypertension. METHODS Study participants were 32,420 working-aged Koreans (21,355 men and 11,065 women) who periodically received health checkups. They were categorized into 4 groups by the frequency of nocturia (never, <1, 1–2, and ≥3/week). We used Cox proportional hazards models to analyze the multivariable-adjusted hazard ratio (HR) and 95% confidence intervals (CIs) for incident hypertension (multivariable-adjusted HR [95% CI]) in relation to the frequency of nocturia. Subgroup analysis was conducted by gender and sleep quality (good and poor sleep quality). RESULTS In women, nocturia was associated with an increased risk of hypertension, compared with never nocturia (HR [95% CI]; never: reference, <1/week: 1.33 [1.10–1.60], 1–2/week: 1.26 [1.00–1.58], and ≥3/week: 1.34 [1.05–1.72]). This association was not observed in men (HR [95% CI]; never: reference, <1/week: 1.00 [0.93–1.08], 1–2/week: 1.00 [0.88–1.12], and ≥3/week: 1.06 [0.94–1.23]). In subgroup analysis by sleep quality, only women with good sleep quality showed an association between nocturia and the risk of hypertension. However, women with poor sleep quality and men did not show an association between the frequency of nocturia and the risk of hypertension. CONCLUSIONS Nocturia is a potential risk factor for incident hypertension in working-aged women with good sleep quality. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Objective Methods Results Conclusion It is extremely important for healthcare professionals to protect patients' privacy during diagnosis and treatment processes related to gynecology and obstetrics and to warn them in case patients' privacy is violated. This study was aimed at determining attitudes of female patients having obstetrics examination towards privacy and raising their awareness of privacy. This cross‐sectional‐descriptive study was conducted with 410 patients who presented to the gynecology and obstetrics outpatient clinic of a university hospital. The survey form consisted of two forms: The descriptive characteristics questionnaire and the body privacy scale for gynecology and obstetrics (BPSGO). Frequency tables, descriptive statistics, Mann–Whitney U‐test, Kruskal–Wallis H‐test, and Bonferroni correction were used in the analysis of the data. The mean age of the participants was 36.75 ± 11.18 years. Of these, 38.0% were in the age group of ≥40 years, 84.0% were married, 66.8% presented to the gynecology clinic, and 58.3% had negative emotions before they had gynecologic examination. Ethics and privacy subscale scores of the single participants were significantly higher than were those of the married participants. It was determined that privacy was affected by cultural characteristics, belief systems and personal values, and that most of the participants were likely to experience negative emotions. It is important to raise health professionals' awareness of privacy by drawing their attention to the value of privacy which is among ethical values in their education and to support the better functioning of legal regulations on this issue. ABSTRACT Although body image is one of the essential concepts that should be addressed in comprehensive care, the question of how body image affects women with schizophrenia remains unanswered. This study aimed to explore the body image experiences of women living with schizophrenia. This study employed a qualitative approach and participants were recruited from a community mental health center in Türkiye. Semi‐structured interviews were conducted with 18 women with schizophrenia. Data were analysed via content analysis. The data were categorised into five themes: (i) body image evaluation, (ii) factors affecting body image, (iii) effects of body image distortion, (iv) coping with body image challenges and (v) protective factors. Schizophrenia affects body functionality, appearance and the self. Women living with schizophrenia experience feelings of shame, sadness, worthlessness and anger related to their body appearance. Body image distortion leads to social distancing and treatment compliance problems. Mental health nurses should support patients to express their feelings and thoughts about the body and recognise their beliefs about ideal body image. Patients should be supported with psychoeducational interventions in the management of symptoms associated with body image disturbance such as weight gain, galactorrhea, sedation and hypersalivation. Background: The health literacy and numeracy skills of women in Pakistan are very low compared to other low- and middle-income countries. Objective: The aim of this study was to improve the health literacy and numeracy skills of unschooled women in Northern Pakistan by developing a Maternal and Child Health Calendar (MCHC). The MCHC utilizes locally contextualized icons to promote and enhance service utilization and maternal and child health (MCH) outcomes. Methods: We conducted a qualitative exploratory study design to understand the experiences and usefulness of the MCHC among women. We recruited the participants using purposive sampling. Using a semi-structured interview guide, we conducted individual interviews with nine Key informants, that is, Agha Khan Rural Support Staff and Community-based savings group staff and five focus group discussions with unschooled women. We followed Braun and Clarke's steps to conduct an inductive thematic data analysis. Results: The findings of our study are categorized into the following themes: (1) the benefits of using MCHC, (2) the usefulness of the MCHC in women's healthcare decision-making, (3) empowerment of poorly schooled women, (4) enabling numeracy and record-keeping skills, (5) MCHC implementation challenges, and (6) participants suggestions to improve the MCHC. Our findings revealed that the MCHC improved the health literacy and numeracy of illiterate or less educated women by using localized images to help them comprehend their own and their children's health. Additionally, it effectively empowered these women in their healthcare decision-making, such as discussing family planning with their husbands. Women also suggested modifying some images in the MCHC to enhance their clarity and usefulness. Conclusion: The MCHC has the potential to safely and sustainably build basic MCH literacy and numeracy skills among both literate and illiterate women in Northern Pakistan. Further research is needed to assess its potential as a stand-alone intervention to improve MCH outcomes. Plain language summary: Empowering mothers: Advancing maternal health literacy and numeracy through the introduction of Maternal and Child Health Calendar This study aimed to improve health literacy and numeracy skills among unschooled women in Northern Pakistan by developing a Maternal and Child Health Calendar (MCHC). The MCHC uses locally relevant images to help women better understand and use health services for themselves and their children. We found that it helped women in Northern Pakistan understand health information through familiar images, make informed healthcare decisions, and manage their health records. Despite some challenges and suggestions for improvement, the MCHC shows promise in enhancing health literacy and numeracy among both literate and illiterate women. Further research is needed to see if it leads to better health outcomes for mothers and children. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Purpose: The author of this publication tried to verify the visibility of women in relation to family companies listed on the Warsaw Stock Exchange (WSE) and compared them to research results that do not separate this group of enterprises, to determine where Polish listed companies are positioned in relation to the targets EU Directive 2022/2381. Also to verify whether it is possible to notice a difference in the level of employment of women in highest authorities in family companies versus others. Design/methodology/approach: The presented research results is an overview and attempts to analyze of women visibility on the highest authorities of family listed companies on a based on socialisation theory and taking into consideration the criteria of the EU Directive 2022/2381. Findings: The result of own research showed the visibility of women in the highest governing bodies of family companies listed on the WSE, which is the first step in the introduction EU Directive 2022/2381. Additionally the research results showed that the percentage of women in the highest bodies of family listed companies is significantly higher than in the results of studies that did not distinguish this group of enterprises. Practical implications: According to the results of own research, in family companies listed on the WSE, there may be a pattern that supports the selection of women for highest authorities, thus it could be helpful in meeting the criteria of the EU Directive 2022/2381 in non-family listed companies. Social implications: Women's career paths seems to constitute an important topic that requires deep research, as evidenced by the awarding of the Nobel Prize in Economics in 2023 to a professor Claudia Goldin. The data collected in this article illustrates the visibility of women in the highest authorities of listed companies on the WSE, which clearly indicates the need to introduce changes. Originality/value: According to the author's knowledge, these are the first studies in Poland verifying the participation of women in the highest authorities in relation to family companies listed on the main market of the WSE taking into account the socialisation theory. Aging presents a key challenge, and the care sector is an emergent and strategic field, with considerable potential for job creation in response to rapidly growing social demands. As this sector expands, it necessitates a change in the model, which must be supported by community services. Here, the social economy has an opportunity for development. Traditionally, jobs in the care sector have typically involved outsourcing family care and have been characterized by low social value, job insecurity, and limited career prospects, which reduces the sector's attractiveness. In Asturias, the sector comprises highly feminized companies, where women confront both the constraints inherent in the sector, including its location in rural areas, and the typical gender disparities. The purpose of this study is to examine the position of social economy firms and entities in Asturias that offer care-related services from a global perspective enhanced by a gender viewpoint. To do this, a mixed, quantitative methodology is used, which characterizes the participation of Social Economy's companies in the services sector in the region, and a qualitative analysis through in-depth interviews and discussion groups were conducted with associations representing both care demand and supply, as well as experts in social services and innovation. The analysis results indicate that women play a crucial role in transitioning to the community model, and promoting actions is necessary. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

19TH century English literature ,STEREOTYPES - Abstract
In Victorian fiction, the Greek woman often appears as a representation of modern Greece, with the 1821 War of Independence as a backdrop. When the novel A Modern Greek Heroine appeared in 1880, the Morning Post naturally noted that 'this is not, as might possibly be supposed from its title, the biography of any champion of Hellenic independence, but a novel of English life' (3). Henry Cresswell, the novel's author, imagined an alternative universe for his heroine. In A Modern Greek Heroine, Bourbachokátzouli has lost her father and connection to her homeland and is haunted not by the ghost of a lost cause but by a man suspected of insanity in a trajectory that brings her to Britain to seek employment as a governess. Cresswell drew inspiration from revolutionary Crete, giving his main protagonist the highly distinctive name of a real-life woman warrior from Sfakia, yet his Bourbachokátzouli is both an unconventional 'modern Greek heroine', resenting many elements of her Greek past, and an untypical Victorian governess harnessing the heroic in herself. Employed as a French governess in Britain and received as an untruthful Greek, she discovers heroism in self-abnegation, exposes late-Victorian society's limitations, subverts stereotypes, and finally finds herself in a position of power. Background: Divorced women often experience emotional dysregulation, increased rumination, and a decline in quality of life. Cognitive-emotional regulation training (CERT) and Transcranial Direct Current Stimulation (tDCS) have been explored as potential interventions to address these challenges. This study aimed to compare the effectiveness of CERT and tDCS in reducing difficulties in regulating emotions, decreasing rumination, and improving the quality of life among divorced women. Methods: This was a semi-experimental study involving three groups across three phases: pre-test, post-test, and follow-up. The statistical population includes all divorced women who visited counseling and psychotherapy centers in Ardabil, Iran during the Winter of 2024. A total of 45 participants were purposefully sampled and then randomly assigned to three groups. The research tools include Gratz and Roemer’s Difficulty Regulation Scale (2004), John Weir’s Short-Form Quality of Life Questionnaire (1992), and Nolen-Hoeksma and Morrow’s Rumination Questionnaire (2008), along with interventions such as an 8-session (60 minutes each) emotional regulation training protocol and Transcranial Direct Current Stimulation. Results: In the post-test, the mean±standard deviation for difficulty in emotion regulation, rumination, and quality of life in the CERT group were 48.21±8.44, 27.38±9.19, and 55.34±10.98, respectively. In the tDCS group, the scores were 51.34±10.37, 33.67±11.47, and 52.37±11.81, showing significant differences compared with the control group where the scores were 59.09±12.64, 39.12±9.82, and 48.90±12.24 (P=0.001). The results indicated that both CERT and tDCS have reduced difficulty in emotion regulation and rumination and increased quality of life (P

The article examines the peculiarities of objectification of the universal opposition «man – woman» in the German language based on lexicographic sources from different chronological periods. German language is interesting for studying this opposition because of its expanded nature, which is particularly evident within the «woman» component: «Mann – Frau / Weib». The analysis of interpretations of the concepts «man» and «woman» in German dictionaries reveals the processes of gender stereotyping reflected in them during different periods of language development. This allows us to understand the development of ideas about these concepts in a specific linguistic culture. The leading characteristics of men and women, as reflected in the semantics of key lexemes such as Mann, Frau and Weib, as well as adjectives derived from these words, are determined. Their cultural and historical context is explored. It is found that during the XVIII and XIX centuries, the concepts of «man» and «woman» consistently reflected the processes of gender stereotyping. However, gender stereotypes regarding women were more varied and complex. Starting in the XX century and especially in the XXI century, stereotypes have been presented to a lesser degree, with a noted neutralization of social oppositions within the considered opposition. It is observed that the opposition between man and woman in German initially had a dual nature, both socially and naturally. It is concluded that at present, in lexicographic sources, naturally oriented traits are the leading features of objectification in the «man-woman» opposition. The issue of the level of accuracy with which different concepts are reflected in explanatory dictionaries of the German language has been identified.

Abstract Objective To investigate the feasibility of transvaginal posterior levatorplasty combined with perineoplasty (TPLP) for women with primary stress urinary incontinence and demonstrate the surgical technique with step-by-step procedures. Methods A prospective, non-randomised study was conducted using technique of TPLP to treat female primary SUI from January 2019 to December 2021. Patient follow-up was performed at 3 and 12 months posteroperatively. A series of validated questionnaires were used to evaluate the improvement of symptom severity, sexual function and quality of life. In addition, 4-D ultrasonography was used to measure the anatomic changes of pelvic structures. Results A total of 47 patients were enrolled in this study with a mean age of 43.6 years. Mean operative time was 78.7 min. Median estimated intraoperative blood loss was 80.2 ml. Objective cure and subjective cure rates were 87.2% and 91.5%, respectively. Compared with baseline, scores of quality of life, symptom severity and sexual function improved after surgery. Meanwhile, mobility of the urethra and bladder neck and areas of levator hiatus were decreased after surgery. Mild coitus pain was reported in 15.4% (6/39) patients at the initial several times of intercourse after resuming sexual activity. Conclusions This study shows that transvaginal posterior levatorplasty combined with perineoplasty appears to be an effective surgical method for selected women with primary stress urinary incontinence.

Abstract. Domestic Violence (DV) in the congregation is an unexpected event, but it still happens. This study aimed to examine the implementation of pastoral counseling in the congregation of the Evangelical Christian Church in Timor (GMIT) Maranatha Oebufu in Kupang City Classis, so that the congregation council can improve pastoral services for victims and perpetrators. The research method used in this study is a qualitative method with a narrative approach. The result of the study indicates that pastoral counseling activities by the church for congregations experiencing domestic violence are ineffective because they only reach understanding and are not continued with pastoral actions needed by victims and perpetrators.

Abstract Background Intensive lifestyle interventions were effective to reduce the risk of type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM) for women with gestational diabetes mellitus (GDM) history. However, reaching these mothers and maintaining participation in lifestyle interventions is suboptimal in real-world settings. Effective, feasible and sustainable new lifestyle interventions are needed. The objectives of this three-arm trial are to (1) compare diabetes risk outcomes of an evidence-based intensive lifestyle modification (ILSM) intervention, a camp-style lifestyle modification program (CAMP) intervention, and usual care among women with GDM history; and (2) evaluate the comparative efficacy of the CAMP versus ILSM intervention on implementation outcomes. Methods A three-arm cluster randomized clinical trial (RCT) using a hybrid type 2 implementation design will be conducted in two counties in Hunan province in China. Six towns from each county will be randomly selected and assigned to CAMP, ILSM, and the usual care group (25 women from each of 12 towns, 100 women in each arm). The ILSM includes six biweekly in-person sessions and 3-month telephone health consultations, while the CAMP consists of a 2-day camp-based session and 3-month health consultations via a popular social media platform. Both interventions share the same session content, including six lifestyle skills. Efficacy (T2DM risk score and behavioral, anthropometric, psychosocial, and glycemic variables) and implementation outcomes (recruitment, acceptability, feasibility, fidelity, and cost-effectiveness) will be collected at baseline, 6-month, and 12-month. Pre-planned ANOVA F-test and generalized estimating equations will be included to test time-by-arm interactions. Discussion The CAMP intervention is expected to have better reach, better attendance, and comparable effectiveness in reducing the risk of T2DM, thus improving postpartum care for GDM in China. The delivery of a concentrated format supplemented with technology-based support may provide an efficient and effective delivery model for implementing maternal health promotion programs in primary care settings. Trial registration Registered in the Chinese Clinical Trial Registry (ChiCTR2200058150) on 31st March 2022.

Abstract Background Sex differences in patient-reported outcomes (PROs) are not well investigated after anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) reconstruction in football players. The aim was to study sex differences in player-related factors, ACL injury characteristics and PROs after primary ACL reconstruction in football players. Methods In this cross-sectional cohort study a survey was sent to 390 male and 403 female football players who were injured when playing football and had undergone a primary ACL reconstruction in the previous 1–3 years. Player-related factors, ACL injury characteristics, and PROs covering knee function, satisfaction with activity level and knee function, and readiness to return to sport were compared between male and females. The questionnaires International Knee Documentation Committee Subjective Knee Evaluation Form (IKDC-SKF), Knee injury and Osteoarthritis Outcome Score (KOOS), ACL-Quality of Life (ACL-QoL) and ACL-Return to Sport after Injury (ACL-RSI) were used. Results Ninety males (23%) and 283 (70%) females answered the survey, 65 males and 198 females fulfilled the inclusion criteria. Males had returned to football to a higher degree (77% vs 59%, p = 0.008) at any time after ACL reconstruction, but at the time of the survey, an equal number of males and females played football (55% vs 47%, p = 0.239) and had similar activity level according to the Tegner Activity Score (median, 9; interquartile range [IQR], 7, vs median, 8; IQR, 7; p = 0.740). Males were more satisfied with their knee function and activity level and rated higher scores in the IKDC-SKF (mean ± standard deviation, 83 ± 16 vs 76 ± 16, p = 0.006), KOOS Sport/Recreation (79 ± 19 vs 72 ± 22, p = 0.034), KOOS Quality of Life (73 ± 22 vs 64 ± 20, p = 0.008), ACL-QoL (7.6 ± 2 vs 6.8 ± 1.8, p = 0.008), and ACL-RSI (6.7 ± 2.1 vs 5.5 ± 2.3, p

This study explores the multifaceted roles of women during the Spanish Civil War, examining the diverse perspectives delineated in academic literature. Leveraging scholarly articles sourced from Web of Science and Scopus spanning from 2013 to 2022, we analyse temporal trends, author demographics, scholarly impact, journal prominence, and thematic content. Our investigation culminates in the classification of contributions into six overarching themes: humanitarian aid and healthcare, biographical narratives, communication dynamics, experiences of exile and refugee communities, women’s mobilisation and ideological engagement, and the harrowing realities of repression and violence inflicted upon women. Furthermore, our findings reveal that research predominantly originates from Spain and is disseminated through Spanish-language journals. However, there exists a notable interconnection with the United States, evidenced by the participation of prominent North American authors and publication in non-Spanish journals. This research offers insights into the multifaceted roles of women during the Spanish Civil War and their academic representation.

Background: The covid-19 disease has caused death shock all over the world. The consequences of the Covid-19 pandemic can lead to complex and long-term bereavement in a large number of people. In previous studies, the lived experience of bereavement in the context of the family has been less studied; especially regarding the identification of factors related to bereavement in the bereavement in covid-19 mourners, there is a research gap. Aims: The present study was conducted with the aim of identifying the factors related to bereavement in the mourners of Covid-19. Methods: This study was conducted with a qualitative approach and using the phenomenological method. The statistical population of the research included all women living in Tehran who had lost one of their first-degree relatives (including sisters, brothers, parents or spouses) due to the disease of Covid-19. During this study, using purposeful sampling, 25 women were subjected to semi-structured in-depth interviews from May 2021 to October 2022. The conducted interviews were also analyzed in six stages using the thematic analysis method of Brown and Clark (2006). Results: The data analysis of this research led to the identification of 236 primary codes, 22 secondary themes, 22 main themes and 6 Canopy themes (Incomplete bereavement, coping strategies, multifaceted grief, attachment style, identity change and the meaning of death). Conclusion: The results obtained from the present study showed that the factors related to bereavement in covid-19 mourners are different from normal bereavements, Therefore, it is suggested that psychologists specializing in bereavement use the themes identified in the present study to develop treatment protocols related to the treatment of bereavement in women

Abstract Background Breast and cervical cancer are the most common cancers in women, and are associated with high morbidity and mortality rates. Cancer screening can facilitate early diagnosis, reduce mortality, and ease the burden of cancer. Social support and self-efficacy are strongly associated with cancer screening behavior. The present study aimed to explore the mediating effect of self-efficacy on social support and cancer screening behavior. Methods In this cross-sectional survey study conducted from June to October 2023, 312 women aged 35–65 years were recruited from the East Coast area of China. A general information questionnaire, cancer screening behavior questionnaire, social support scale and self-efficacy scale were used to collect data. Descriptive statistics were used to analyze the general characteristics of participants; one-way analysis of variance was used to test for differences in the measured variables; and Pearson’s correlation analyses were used to describe the relationship among social support, self-efficacy, and cancer screening behavior. A mediation model was constructed and analyzed using the PROCESS macro for SPSS. Results The mean (standard deviation) screening behavior score for breast cancer and cervical cancer was 3.98 (2.79), representing an intermediate level. Self-efficacy was closely related to social support and cancer screening behavior. Social support showed a significant positive correlation with self-efficacy (r = 0.37, p

Metaphor is a symbolic and indirect language that conveys concealed and supplementarymeanings. Interpretive narratives may also exhibit gender metaphors and stereotypes. Thework is founded on the interpretive accounts of three Persian interpretations of Rowz al-Jannan, Jala al-Azhan, and Manhaj al-Sadeghin in this research. This article has selectednarratives that have employed gender metaphors or whose content is reminiscent of gendermetaphors. Subsequently, the qualitative content analysis method has been employed toinvestigate the value of these metaphors and their correlation with gender stereotypes.Examples of gender metaphors in these narratives include “bed,” “Boyut,” “Atbah,” and“Denya.” While some of these metaphors have a positive connotation, others have a negativeconnotation. The most significant findings of this research are that the majority of negativemetaphors about women are based on the role of a woman as a wife or sexual companion, which emphasizes her physical appearance. These metaphors are influenced by prevalentgender stereotypes that are detrimental. On the contrary, the majority of positive metaphorsare centered on the role of the mother and the qualities of kindness, creation, origin, andcommencement that are associated with the mother. In addition, this research demonstratesthat the female body is depicted in two distinct ways: the “heavenly body” and the “infernalbody.” The female heavenly body is a symbol of complete delight and benefit, while thefemale infernal body is a symbol of deception, sin, Satan, and adultery.

Objective: To investigate the feasibility of transvaginal posterior levatorplasty combined with perineoplasty (TPLP) for women with primary stress urinary incontinence and demonstrate the surgical technique with step-by-step procedures. Methods: A prospective, non-randomised study was conducted using technique of TPLP to treat female primary SUI from January 2019 to December 2021. Patient follow-up was performed at 3 and 12 months posteroperatively. A series of validated questionnaires were used to evaluate the improvement of symptom severity, sexual function and quality of life. In addition, 4-D ultrasonography was used to measure the anatomic changes of pelvic structures. Results: A total of 47 patients were enrolled in this study with a mean age of 43.6 years. Conclusions: This study shows that transvaginal posterior levatorplasty combined with perineoplasty appears to be an effective surgical method for selected women with primary stress urinary incontinence. CONFIRMATORY factor analysis , *SPANIARDS , *PSYCHOMETRICS , *FERTILITY , *DRILL core analysis - Abstract
Background: Fertility diagnosis and treatment have an impact on the quality of life (QoL) of individuals. FertiQoL is an internationally developed questionnaire to measure fertility-specific QoL. Obtaining reliable information on the impact of fertility issues enables social and health care systems to develop value-centered integrated care. Objective: The aim of the present study is to examine the dimensionality, validity and reliability of Core FertiQol in a sample of Spanish women undergoing fertility treatment. Methods: A cross-sectional study was conducted, administering the Core FertiQoL questionnaire to 564 women with fertility problems. Descriptive analyses were performed on sociodemographic and clinical data of the sample. The psychometric properties of the FertiQoL were tested by performing confirmatory factor analyses, calculating the average values of the variance extracted, validity, reliability and correlation coefficients between scales. Results: Four factors (Emotional, Mind/Body, Relational and Social) were obtained. All statistics presented adequate values (RMSEA and SRMR lower than 0.09 and CFI and TLI higher than 0.9). Reliability was demonstrated with the CR index of each factor higher than 0.7 and the AVE higher than 0.5. Conclusions: Core FertiQol presents an acceptable adjustment for Spanish women with fertility problems. It offers a communication channel between professionals and patients, as well as accurate information in its subscales on areas that may reflect QoL impairment. Core FertiQol is an instrument that allows the identification of areas requiring support, providing valuable information for the design of efficient socialhealth value-centered programs for people with infertility. WOMEN'S roles , *GENDER role , *SOCIAL role , *SOCIAL influence , *SOCIAL context - Abstract
This paper aims to discuss the social role assigned to women through the narratives of She-Ra and Boruto's animations, making connections with the locations where they were created. Boruto and She-Ra were chosen because they were released and completed in relatively close periods and produced in different parts of the world--East and West, respectively. The goal is to establish a relationship between the narratives of these animations and the cultural aspects related to gender roles in the countries that produced them, identify whether an animation can carry gender-related biases, and discuss the different perceptions of women's roles in the West and the East, using She-Ra and Boruto as examples. As a result, it is possible to observe how animations are influenced by gender issues and how they affect and are connected to the lives of various people. Although it is impossible to assert a causal relationship between the region producing the animation and the presence or absence of biases, this work highlights that animations are influenced by their social environment. EDUCATION policy , *WORKING class women , *HISTORY of education , *VOCATIONAL education , *WORKING class , *VOCATIONAL schools ,SPANISH history, 1939-1975 - Abstract
One of the primary goals of Franco's education policy was to train the working class in the doctrinal principles of the regime. Labour Universities were one of the education institutions created for this purpose; there were three for women (Zaragoza, Cáceres and Huesca). This article focuses on analysing the purposes sought by these macro-institutions when training working-class women, using diverse primary sources: documentary, audiovisual, archive and legal. Findings indicate that Women's Labour Universities aimed to provide specialised vocational training and also to impose the doctrine of the ideological principles advocated by the regime in relation to the model of women. However, these goals were somewhat incompatible as providing women with vocational training promoted their emancipation, contrary to the female ideal mainly advocated. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Background: Although some recent studies have examined the health of female Gulf War (GW) deployed and non-deployed GW era veterans, these all relied on self-report, which can be inaccurate and subject to recall bias. This study investigated the current health of GW deployed and non-deployed GW era female and male veterans using Veterans Health Administration (VHA) electronic health records (EHR). Methods: We performed a cohort study of deployed GW and non-deployed GW era veterans, identified from a list from the Defense Manpower Data Center (DMDC). We used the VA-Frailty Index (VA-FI), calculated with VHA administrative claims and EHR, as a proxy measure of current health. Results: We identified 402,869 veterans (351,496 GW deployed; 51,3373 non-deployed GW era; 38,555 female) in VHA databases. Deployed female veterans had the highest VA-FI (i.e., were frailest) despite being younger than deployed and non-deployed male veterans and non-deployed female veterans. Compared with deployed male veterans, deployed females were more likely to be pre-frail, mildly, and moderately frail. Health differences between deployed and non-deployed female veterans were more prominent among older (60+ years) than younger (<60 years) veterans. Conclusions: Mirroring reports from recent, smaller survey studies of users and non-users of VA health care, findings from this cohort study indicate that deployed female GW veterans who use VA health care are frailer and have more health deficits than non-deployed female GW era and deployed male GW veterans. Because deployed female GW veterans appear to have additional health care needs, this may warrant increased outreach from women's clinics at VA hospitals. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
