This paper is concerned with the existence of solutions for p-Laplace problems with non-local term. We prove the sub-supersolution theorem using the pseudomonotone operator theorem and Minty–Browder theorem with appropriate assumptions on M,gii=1,2. Then, using the sub-supersolution approach, we determine the existence of positive solutions to specific problems.

The objective of the study was to assess the association between changes in plasma follicle-stimulating hormone (FSH) and the potential effect on idiopathic pulmonary arterial hypertension (IPAH) in male patients. A total of 116 male patients with IPAH and 53 healthy controls were included from XX Hospital. Plasma FSH concentration was assessed in all participants. Receiver operating characteristic curves were used to assess the mortality risk. Kaplan–Meier curve and Cox regression analyses were used to predict the value of FSH on the survival rate of male IPAH patients. The plasma FSH concentration in the IPAH group was significantly higher than that in the control group ( p = .017). Nonsurvivors had significantly higher levels of FSH than survivors ( p < .0001). FSH levels were positively correlated with World Health Organization Functional Class, mean pulmonary artery pressure, and pulmonary vascular resistance (PVR; p = .023, p < .0001, and p < .0001, respectively) and negatively correlated with 6-min walk distance (6MWD) and cardiac output (CO; p = .004 and p = .010). Cox regression model analysis showed that the levels of FSH were also the independent factors of mortality in male IPAH patients ( p < .0001). The IPAH patients with higher FSH levels had higher PVR, lower 6MWD, CO, and a lower survival rate ( p = .042, p = .003, p = .029, and p < .0001, respectively). Therefore, we identified that increased FSH levels were associated with disease severity in male patients with IPAH and independently predicted risk of disease and poor survival rate.

Abstract Background The objectives of present study were to examine the level of disagreement between self-reported and objective measurement of sensitization to common inhalant allergens, and to explore the potential risk factors that might contribute to this discrepancy. Methods A total of 215 children were enrolled from pediatric clinics at a tertiary pediatric center in Beijing, China. A survey questionnaires regarding self-perceived sensitization was completed by participants’ parents/caregiver, meanwhile, skin prick testing(SPT) was performed as objective assessment of sensitization. Extent of agreement between self-reported versus SPT-measured sensitization to individual allergen was calculated using Cohen’s kappa (κ) coefficient. Multivariable regression analyses were used to determine the factors associated with discrepancy between self-reported and objective measurement of sensitization. Results 119(55.3%) patients have reported to be sensitized to at least one of inhalant allergen, whereas 167(77.7%) patients had a positive skin testing response. Agreement between self-perceived and actual aeroallergen sensitization was moderate for mites(κ = 0.518) and grass pollen mix(κ = 0.451), moreover, fair agreement was observed for mold(κ = 0.316) and cockroach(κ = 0.297), respectively. There was a least agreement between perceived and actual sensitization observed for pet dander, with a kappa coefficient of 0.005. Subjects’ age, atopy history, ownership of pet may increase the risk of disagreement, moreover, background factors of informant, like: age, education level, and the relationship with enrolled subjects, were linked to the incidence of disagreement between self-reported sensitization in comparison with SPT results. Conclusion Questionnaire-based self-assessment is easy way to collect clinical information on allergen sensitization; however, the accuracy of questionnaire-derived information is more likely to be influenced by respondent’s background factors. The information from the questionnaire report is considered to be more reliable when in combination with objective assessment of sensitization, including blood IgE testing and SPT.

Introduction: In the past two decades, urbanization in many Asian countries has led to sedentary lifestyle and overnutrition, which has set the stage for the epidemic of obesity. Those who have obesity during adolescence usually have obesity into adulthood, which causes many medical and psychological issues that can result in premature death. Recent data suggest that short sleep duration may contribute to the risk of obesity, opening a new avenue for potential intervention. The aim of this study was to describe the prevalence of sleeping time, body mass index (BMI), and fat mass in Chinese freshmen and to indicate the relationship among them. Methods: We conducted a cross-sectional study consisting of 1,938 freshmen aged from 18 to 24 years, including 684 (35.3%) men and 1,254 (64.7%) women. BMI, sleeping time, and other potential related variables were collected by questionnaire. Obesity and overweight were defined as BMI ≥28.0 and ≥24.0, respectively. All students were divided into three groups according to the tertiles of body fat percentage (Fat%), which were measured by bioelectrical impedance analysis. Sleeping time was divided into 3 categories based on the duration, 8 h per day. Results: Participants who slept longer had lower BMI and Fat%. Sex, diet control, and maternal obesity were all significantly associated with BMI or Fat% after adjustment. There were significant differences between sleeping time 8 h in both overweight group and Fat% tertiles independent of adjustment used. The significant difference between sleeping time 6–8 and >8 h only existed in overweight group, while irrelevant relation was observed in both models of obesity group. Conclusion: Longer sleeping time was associated with a lower BMI in Chinese freshmen, even after adjustment for multiple confounders. The overweight stage is a critical period of weight management intervention by changing sleeping time. If adolescents have entered the obesity stage, the effect size of lifestyle intervention might be significantly limited.

In order to analyze the effect of final cooling temperature on the wax deposition laws of the crude oil modified with additives, keep the same temperature difference of oil wall and control different final cooling temperatures, static wax deposition contrast test and dynamic shear contrast test were carried out on Daqing oil with nano pour point depressant, Daqing oil with EVA pour point depressant and Daqing blank oil using the wax deposition device of agitation tank, rheometer, differential scanning calorimeter and other test instruments. Then, based on the mechanisms of molecular diffusion and gelling, the wax deposition laws of Daqing oil modified with additives under different experimental conditions were investigated. It is shown that when the final cooling temperature is lower, the blank oil is low in the total wax deposition but its wax crystal structure is stronger; while the oil with additives is significantly higher than the blank oil in the total wax deposition, but there is more condensate in the total amount of wax deposition and the wax crystal structure is weaker. With the increase of the final cooling temperature, the wax deposition in the oil with additives and that in the blank oil decrease gradually and tend to be consistent. When the final cooling temperature is lower and the shear peel strength is weaker, the addition of pour point depressant can increase the wax deposition of pipeline transportation. And once the shear is high or the final cooling temperature is increased, the wax deposition of the oil with additives will be reduced significantly and the safety of pipeline transportation will be improved.

Pansharpening is a very debated spatio-spectral fusion problem. It refers to the fusion of a high spatial resolution panchromatic image with a lower spatial but higher spectral resolution multispectral image in order to obtain an image with high resolution in both the domains. In this article, we propose a novel variational optimization-based (VO) approach to address this issue incorporating the outcome of a deep convolutional neural network (DCNN). This solution can take advantages of both the paradigms. On one hand, higher performance can be expected introducing machine learning (ML) methods based on the training by examples philosophy into VO approaches. On other hand, the combination of VO techniques with DCNNs can aid the generalization ability of these latter. In particular, we formulate a $\ell _2$-based proximal deep injection term to evaluate the distance between the DCNN outcome, and the desired high spatial resolution multispectral image. This represents the regularization term for our VO model. Furthermore, a new data fitting term measuring the spatial fidelity is proposed. Finally, the proposed convex VO problem is efficiently solved by exploiting the framework of the alternating direction method of multipliers (ADMM), thus guaranteeing the convergence of the algorithm. Extensive experiments both on simulated, and real datasets demonstrate that the proposed approach can outperform state-of-the-art spatio-spectral fusion methods, even showing a significant generalization ability. Summary: To provide a meta-analysis of studies evaluating long-term all-cause mortality, aneurysm-related mortality and re-intervention after open or endovascular repair for abdominal aortic aneurysm. Electronic bibliographic sources were interrogated using a combination of free text and controlled vocabulary searches to identify studies comparing the long-term outcomes of open and endovascular repair for abdominal aortic aneurysm. The review was conducted according to the Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews and Meta-Analyses (PRISMA) statement standards. Fixed effect or random effects models were used. We retrieved 4 randomized controlled trials (RCTs; 2,783 patients), 7 nonrandomized trials (86,035 patients). The primary outcome was all-cause mortality. Heterogeneity was high and publication bias could not be excluded. Despite these limitations, the analysis showed that open and endovascular abdominal aortic aneurysm repair had similar all-cause mortality (OR 1.16, 95% CI, 0.89–1.51) over 5 years follow up, which was maintained after at least 10 years of follow-up (OR 0.87, 95% CI, 0.73–1.03). There was no significant difference in aneurysm-related mortality by 5 years or longer follow-up. A significantly lower proportion of patients undergoing open repair required reintervention (OR 0.38, 95% CI 0.24–0.64), which was maintained over 5 years of follow-up. There is no long-term survival difference between the patients who underwent open or endovascular aneurysm repair. BackgroundSolitary intracranial hypothalamic mass occurs rarely. The etiological diagnosis of solitary hypothalamus lesion is challenging and often unachievable. Although previous studies indicated that lesions affecting the hypothalamus often cause significant metabolic disorders, few reports about the metabolic disturbances of patients with solitary hypothalamic mass have been reported.MethodTwenty-five patients with solitary hypothalamus lesions who had been evaluated and treated in Huashan Hospital from January 2010 to December 2020 were retrospectively enrolled. The clinical manifestations, radiological features, endocrine and metabolic disorders, and pathology were analyzed.ResultsThe male to female ratio was 5/20. The median age of onset was 22 (19, 35) years old. The most common initial symptom was polydipsia/polyuria (19/25, 76.0%) and amenorrhea (9/20, 45.0%). A high prevalence of hypopituitarism of different axes was found, with almost all no less than 80%. Central hypogonadism (21/22, 95.5%) and central diabetes insipidus (19/21, 90.5%) were the top two pituitary dysfunctions. Conclusive diagnoses were achieved by intracranial surgical biopsy/resection or stereotactic biopsy in 16 cases and by examining extracranial lesions in 3 cases. The pathological results were various, and the most common diagnoses were Langerhans cell histiocytosis (7/19) and hypothalamitis (5/19). The mean timespan from onset to diagnosis in the 19 cases was 34 ± 26 months. Metabolic evaluations revealed remarkable metabolic disorders, including hyperlipidemia (13/16, 81.3%), hyperglycemia (10/16, 62.5%), hyperuricemia (12/20, 60%), overweight/obesity (13/20, 65.0%), and hepatic adipose infiltration (10/13, 76.6%).ConclusionEither surgical or stereotactic biopsy will be a reliable and relatively safe procedure to help to confirm the pathological diagnosis of solitary hypothalamic mass. Metabolic disorders were severe in patients with solitary hypothalamic mass. The management of such cases should cover both the treatment of the primary disease, as well as the endocrine and metabolic disorders

Background: Previous research suggested that Chinese Medicine (CM) Formula Huashibaidu granule might shorten the disease course in coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) patients. This research aimed to investigate the early treatment effect of Huashibaidu granule in well-managed patients with mild COVID-19.Methods: An unblinded cluster-randomized clinical trial was conducted at the Dongxihu FangCang hospital. Two cabins were randomly allocated to a CM or control group, with 204 mild COVID-19 participants in each cabin. All participants received conventional treatment over a 7 day period, while the ones in CM group were additionally given Huashibaidu granule 10 g twice daily. Participants were followed up to their clinical endpoint. The primary outcome was worsening symptoms before the clinical endpoint. The secondary outcomes were cure and discharge before the clinical endpoint and alleviation of composite symptoms after the 7 days of treatment.Results: All 408 participants were followed up to their clinical endpoint and included in statistical analysis. Baseline characteristics were comparable between the two groups (P > 0.05). The number of worsening patients in the CM group was 5 (2.5%), and that in the control group was 16 (7.8%) with a significant difference between groups (P = 0.014). Eight foreseeable mild adverse events occurred without statistical difference between groups (P = 0.151).Conclusion: Seven days of early treatment with Huashibaidu granule reduced the likelihood of worsening symptoms in patients with mild COVID-19. Our study supports Huashibaidu granule as an active option for early treatment of mild COVID-19 in similar well-managed medical environments.Clinical Trial Registration:www.chictr.org.cn/showproj.aspx?proj=49408, identifier: ChiCTR2000029763.

Sepsis-induced cardiac injury (SIC) is one of the most common complications in the intensive care unit (ICU) with high morbidity and mortality. Mitochondrial dysfunction is one of the main reasons for SIC, and Interleukin-13 (IL-13) is a master regulator of mitochondria biogenesis. The aim of the present study was to investigate the role of IL-13 in SIC and explore the underlying mechanism. It was found that reactive oxygen species (ROS) production and apoptosis were significantly increased in lipopolysaccharide (LPS)-stimulated primary cardiomyocytes, which was accompanied with obvious mitochondria dysfunction. The results of RNA-sequencing (RNA-seq), mitochondrial membrane potential, fatty acid uptake and oxidation rate suggested that treatment with IL-13 could restore the function and morphology of mitochondria, indicating that it played an important role in protecting septic cardiomyocytes. These findings demonstrated that IL-13 alleviated sepsis-induced cardiac inflammation and apoptosis by improving mitochondrial fatty acid uptake and oxidation, suggesting that IL-13 may prove to be a potential promising target for SIC treatment.

The involvement of cardiomyopathy during sepsis means higher mortality and prolonged length of hospital stay. Many efforts have been made to alleviate the apoptosis of cardiomyocytes in sepsis. The huge potential of IL-13 in tissue repair has attracted increasing attention. In the present study, we used LPS-treated mice or primary cardiomyocytes as a sepsis model to explore the anti-apoptotic ability of IL-13. It was found that an increased level of exogenous IL-13 was beneficial to the recovery of heart function in sepsis, and this anti-apoptotic effect of IL-13 was probably through enhancing the phosphorylation of STAT3 Ser727. In addition, we identified that the heart protective effect of IL-13 was associated with type 2 innate lymphocytes (ILC2). All these findings may provide a potential promising treatment for sepsis-induced cardiomyopathy.

AZ31 magnesium alloy sheets with 2 mm thickness were successfully fabricated by multi-pass lowered-temperature rolling. The evolution of the microstructure, texture, and mechanical properties during the rolling process was investigated. Based on the effect of multiple dynamic recrystallization, multi-pass lowered-temperature rolling not only refined the grain size obviously but also markedly improved the microstructure homogeneity. The resulting sheets had the optimal microstructure morphology with an average grain size of 4.38 μm. For the texture evolution, the stress state of the rolling process made the (0002) basal plane gradually rotate toward the rolling plane. However, the activation of non-basal slips due to the higher rolling temperature slightly rotated the (0002) basal plane point to the rolling direction (RD). As a result, the grain refinement strengthening and the texture strengthening together increased the yield stress to 202 MPa in the transverse direction (TD) and 189.8 MPa in the RD. Importantly, the resulting sheet concurrently exhibited excellent fracture elongation, about 38% in the TD and 39.2% in the RD. This was mainly ascribed to the finer grain size, giving rise to a significant effect of grain boundary sliding and the activation amount of non-basal slips.

In recent years, van der Waals heterostructures (vdWHs) of two-dimensional (2D) materials have attracted extensive research interest. By stacking various 2D materials together to form vdWHs, it is interesting to see that new and fascinating properties are formed beyond single 2D materials; thus, 2D heterostructures-based nanodevices, especially for potential optoelectronic applications, were successfully constructed in the past few decades. With the dramatically increased demand for well-controlled heterostructures for nanodevices with desired performance in recent years, various interfacial modulation methods have been carried out to regulate the interfacial coupling of such heterostructures. Here, the research progress in the study of interfacial coupling of vdWHs (investigated by Photoluminescence, Raman, and Pump–probe spectroscopies as well as other techniques), the modulation of interfacial coupling by applying various external fields (including electrical, optical, mechanical fields), as well as the related applications for future electrics and optoelectronics, have been briefly reviewed. By summarizing the recent progress, discussing the recent advances, and looking forward to future trends and existing challenges, this review is aimed at providing an overall picture of the importance of interfacial modulation in vdWHs for possible strategies to optimize the device’s performance.

IntroductionBrown adipose tissue (BAT) becomes the favorite target for preventing and treating metabolic diseases because the activated BAT can produce heat and consume energy. The brain, especially the hypothalamus, which secretes Neuropeptide Y (NPY), is speculated to regulate BAT activity. However, whether NPY is involved in BAT activity’s central regulation in humans remains unclear. Thus, it’s essential to explore the relationship between brain glucose metabolism and human BAT activity.MethodsA controlled study with a large sample of healthy adults used Positron emission tomography/computed tomography (PET/CT) to noninvasively investigate BAT’s activity and brain glucose metabolism in vivo. Eighty healthy adults with activated BAT according to the PET/CT scan volunteered to be the BAT positive group, while 80 healthy adults without activated BAT but with the same gender, similar age, and BMI, scanning on the same day, were recruited as the control (BAT negative). We use Statistical parametric mapping (SPM) to analyze the brain image data, Picture Archiving & Communication System (PACS), and PET/CT Viewer software to calculate the semi-quantitative values of brain glucose metabolism and BAT activity. ELISA tested the levels of fasting plasma NPY. The multiple linear regression models were used to analyze the correlation between brain glucose metabolism, the level of NPY, and the BAT activity in the BAT positive group.Results(1) Compared with controls, BAT positive group showed significant metabolic decreases mainly in the right Insula (BA13a, BA13b) and the right claustrum (uncorrected P 0.05), while the correlation between the BA13a metabolic values and BAT activity still was significant (P< 0.05).ConclusionsRegional brain glucose metabolism is closely related to healthy adults’ BAT activity, which may be mediated by NPY.

ContextHypothalamic obesity (HO) is a severe complication following craniopharyngioma, but studies regarding the sequelae in adult-onset patients with craniopharyngioma are sparse.ObjectiveThe objective of the study was to describe weight changes after surgical treatment in adult-onset craniopharyngioma patients and to analyze risk factors for postoperative weight gain and HO.Subjects and MethodA retrospective analysis was conducted of 120 adult-onset patients who underwent surgery for craniopharyngioma and follow-up at the institution of the authors between January 2018 and September 2020. Clinical characteristics, anthropometric data, image features, treatment modalities, and endocrine indices were collected. Multivariable logistic regression analysis was used to identify independent risk factors for postoperative weight gain and HO.ResultsForty-nine (40.8%) patients had clinically meaningful weight gain (≥5%) in a median follow-up time of 12.0 months (range 1.0–41.0 months) after surgery. The mean postoperative weight gain in this subgroup was 17.59 ± 12.28 (%). Weight gain continued in the first year following surgery. Patients with lower preoperative BMI [OR 0.78, 95% CI (0.67–0.90), P = 0.001] and the adamantinomatous subtype [OR 3.46, 95% CI (1.02–11.76), P = 0.047] were more likely to experience postoperative weight gain ≥5%. The prevalence of HO was 19.2% preoperatively and increased to 29.2% at last follow-up postoperatively. Only preoperative BMI [OR 2.51, 95% CI (1.64–3.85), P < 0.001] was identified as an independent risk factor for postoperative HO.ConclusionsHO is a common complication in patients with adult-onset craniopharyngioma. Patients with higher preoperative BMI had a greater risk for developing HO postoperatively.

There have been no studies as to whether parthanatos, a poly (adenosine diphosphate-ribose) polymerase-1 (PARP-1)-dependent and apoptosis-inducing factor (AIF)-mediated caspase-independent programmed cell death, is present in pulmonary hypertension (PH). Basic studies have, however, been conducted on several of the key molecules in parthanatos, such as PARP-1, AIF, and macrophage migration inhibitory factor (MIF). For this study, we collected blood samples from 88 incident male patients with PH and 50 healthy controls at the Shanghai Pulmonary Hospital. We measured the key factors of parthanatos (PARP-1, PAR, AIF, and MIF) by enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay and performed a logistic regression, Cox proportional hazards analysis, and Kaplan–Meier test to assess the prognostic value of the key molecules in diagnosing and predicting survival. The patients who ultimately died had a significantly poorer clinical status during the study than those who survived. The PARP-1, PAR, AIF, and MIF levels were significantly higher in the patients than in the controls (all p < .0001), and the PARP-1, PAR, and AIF levels were higher in the nonsurvivors than in the survivors (all p < .0001). AlGaN/GaN high electron mobility transistors (HEMTs) are regarded as promising candidates for a 5G communication system, which demands higher frequency and power. Source/drain ohmic contact is one of the key fabrication processes crucial to the device performance. Firstly, Au-contained metal stacks combined with RTA high-temperature ohmic contact schemes were presented and analyzed, including process conditions and contact formation mechanisms. Considering the issues with the Au-contained technique, the overview of a sequence of Au-free schemes is given and comprehensively discussed. In addition, in order to solve various problems caused by high-temperature conditions, novel annealing techniques including microwave annealing (MWA) and laser annealing (LA) were proposed to form Au-free low-temperature ohmic contact to AlGaN/GaN HEMT. The effects of the annealing method on surface morphology, gate leakage, dynamic on-resistance (RON), and other device characteristics are investigated and presented in this paper. By using a low-temperature annealing atmosphere or selective annealing method, gate-first Si-CMOS compatible AlGaN/GaN HEMT technology can be realized for high frequency and power application.

Abstract Background To evaluate whether a shorter time of lying supine without a pillow and fasting for solids and liquids (LSFSL) after a lumbar puncture (LP) is associated with a higher risk of post-lumbar puncture headache (PLPH) and post-lumbar puncture lower back pain (PLPBP) in a randomized, assessor-blinded, controlled trial. Methods Paediatric patients who underwent their first LP after hospital admission were randomly allocated to either the group with half an hour of LSFSL (0.5 h LSFSL) or 4 h of LSFSL (4 h LSFSL) immediately after LP. The primary outcome is PLPH after LP. The incidence of PLPH, PLPBP, and vomiting; vital signs (respiratory rate, heart rate, blood pressure); and other post-procedure conditions after LP were measured as the outcomes. The Non-inferiority test and Wilcoxon rank-sum test were used to analyse the outcome data. Results In total, 400 patients (201 in the 0.5-h LSFSL group and 199 in the 4-h LSFSL group) were included in this trial. Twelve (5.97%) of 201 patients experienced PLPH in the 0.5 h LSFSL group versus 13 (6.53%) of 199 patients in the 4 h LSFSL group (difference 0.56, 95% CI -4.18 to 5.31; p = 0·0108 for the non-inferiority test). Fourteen (6.97%) of 201 patients experienced PLPBP in the 0.5 h LSFSL group versus 17 (8.54%) of 199 patients in the 4 h LSFSL group (difference 1.57, 95% CI -3.66 to 6.82; p = 0.007 for the non-inferiority test). The changes in heart rate (HR), respiratory rate (RP) and systolic blood pressure (SBP) before and after the LP were not different between the 0.5-h LSFSL group and the 4-h LSFSL group. No other adverse events were reported. Conclusions Compared with 4 h of LSFSL after LP, 0.5 h of LSFSL was not associated with a higher risk of PLPH, PLPBP or other adverse events. In conclusion, 0.5 h of LSFSL is sufficient for children undergoing LP. Trial registration Clinical trial NCT02590718. The date of registration was 08/25/2015.
