Clinically integrated teaching (CIT) is an effective approach for promoting evidence-based practice (EBP) competencies among medical students. Challenges towards the implementation of CIT in rehabilitation curricula include educators' different conceptualizations of EBP, the perceived complexity of EBP and the boundaries between the academic and the clinical setting. This study aimed to identify tailored strategies to implement in rehabilitation programs and their affiliated clinical sites to support the development of EBP competencies among students in occupational therapy (OT), physical therapy (PT) and speech-language pathology (S-LP). Nominal group technique (NGT) with stakeholders from three rehabilitation programs in Canada, offering the professional master's in OT and PT (n = 35 participants) and in S-LP (n = 8). The top two strategies identified in the OT/PT NGT were: 1) Developing a flexible definition of EBP that recognizes its complexity; 2) Providing clinicians with more access to the teaching content by pairing faculty with preceptors. The top two strategies identified in the S-LP NGT were: 1) Providing students with opportunities for decision-making with experienced clinicians; 2) Increasing interactions between faculty and preceptors using formal group meetings. Findings laid foundations for future integrated knowledge translation projects to collaboratively implement, and test identified strategies. Rehabilitation professions including occupational therapy, physical therapy and speech-language pathology acknowledge the importance of evidence-based practice (EBP). Current challenges in the teaching of EBP among rehabilitation students include educators' different conceptualizations of EBP, the perceived complexity of EBP, and the boundaries between the academic and the clinical setting. This study shows that increasing interactions between faculty and preceptors, for instance through an online community of practice, constitutes a stakeholder-endorsed priority to advance EBP education in rehabilitation. Pain might be approached from a biomedical or biopsychosocial perspective. There is a lack of research on the attitudes and beliefs about pain among physiotherapy students. In this context, the Pain Attitudes and Belief Scale for Physiotherapists (PABS-PT) is an instrument widely used from a clinical and educational perspective, but its psychometric properties have not yet been tested in a student-based population. To develop the Spanish version of the PABS-PT scale and to assess its psychometric properties among students in physiotherapy. The study was carried out among 103 students in their final years of academic studies in the Degree in Physiotherapy in the University of Murcia (Spain). Sociodemographic and PABS-PT related variables were collected. The instrument was translated into Spanish and tested through factor analysis, internal consistency, test-retest reliability, and known-groups validity. The 95% minimal detectable change of the instrument was also calculated. The factor analysis revealed two factors within the instrument: Biomedical (9 items) and Biopsychosocial (7 items) factors, with Cronbach's alpha values of 0.730 and 0.708, respectively. The Intraclass Correlation Coefficient (3,2) was 0.851 for the Biomedical factor and 0.699 for the Biopsychosocial factor. The minimal detectable changes (95% CI) for the Biomedical and Biopsychosocial factors were 6.01 and 5.56, respectively. The pre-specified hypothesis for the known-groups validity test was met and revealed large effect sizes (d = 1.24). The Spanish version of the instrument PABS-PT-SP covers two factors. It shows satisfactory psychometric properties and it is therefore an effective framework to discriminate between the biomedical and/or biopsychosocial thoughts and attitudes toward pain in physiotherapy. To identify physiotherapy students' preferences about their prospective area of practice and the reasons for their choices. Tel-Aviv University physiotherapy students participated in a cross-sectional survey and three open-ended questions that comprise the qualitative component of the study. At the very beginning of their studies, and at the end of the first to fourth years, participants were asked about their area of preference, the factors that shaped their choice, and the reasons for prospective changes in their preference. In total, 289 students filled out the survey. Response rate was 68%. Interest in some areas of practice such as pediatrics remained stable throughout years of physiotherapy studies. In contrast, interest in other areas such as sports declined and interest in others such as rehabilitation increased. The open-ended questions yielded 1,616 codes sorted into five categories that shaped the students' preferences: "I/Me /My" the largest category, followed by "the physiotherapy studies program" and then the relational focused "physiotherapy practice." The number of codes for "working conditions" and "work-life balance" increased steeply with the progression of the studies and the age of the students. The choice for areas of practice of physiotherapy students vary during their professional formation. During their professional development, their preferences are shaped by their personal feelings, interest in and past experience with the specific areas of practice, as well as their practical exposure, experiences in practicums, and theoretical studies. Joint mobilizations are well-established and extensively researched treatment modality for adults. However, it remains largely unexplored in the pediatric population. Physical therapists hesitate to perform joint mobilization on children because of lack of knowledge, concern for the developing skeletal system, and the paucity of research on the topic. The aim of this article is to present a decision tool created for a continuing education course with the purpose to instruct pediatric therapists in the safe and effective use of joint mobilizations in children. It is based on the pediatric paradigm of developmental and functional assessment to best address the concerns and preferences of physical therapists (PTs). To advance research in pediatric joint mobilization, PTs should listen to the concerns of pediatric therapists and respond to those concerns with effective, evidence-supported training. Background. The development of motor capacity implies a higher level of awareness in the youths, which leads to a fitness that is adapted to the future work place. From the viewpoint of the future professions, both the physical education teachers and the future physical therapists need a high level of motor skills and an increased physical endurance to fatigue. A prime objective of this research was to see how much the vertical spring and and repetition speed can develop in the lower limbs over the course of a semester, and at the same time, how much this is or is not influenced by the subjects' height. Results. The study contained 36 students that were not professional practitioners of a sport (18 from Physical and Sportive Education and 18 from Physical Therapy and Special Motor Skills). The tests were performed using the MGM-15 Miron Georgescu jumping platform. Two tests were conducted 14 weeks apart, recording the subjects' vertical take-off capacity using both legs, and separately using the right and the left leg, as well as their repetition speed for both legs and separately for the right and the left leg. Conclusions. The recorded and statistically analyzed results have shown that there is a linear correlation between these motor actions, with a Pearson coefficient between 1 and -1. The calculated regression model, with an adjusted r square of .401 indicated that the independent variables (the subjects' height and repetition speed) had an influence of 40.1% on the vertical spring using both legs. Preparing students for the transition to graduate-level education with greater learning demands in a condensed time frame is a challenging process for health professions educators and incoming students. Prematriculation programs offer a solution for exposing students to the foundational sciences in preparation for the academic rigor of a doctoral program. This retrospective study assessed whether incoming students enrolled across 3 yr of a 2-day online anatomy workshop, offered in July and August before the start of their first semester resulted in improved anatomy knowledge. Whether this acquired knowledge translated to improved anatomy outcomes in the first semester of a Doctor of Physical Therapy program was also assessed, while also accounting for variables of gender, ethnicity, and grade-point average. Knowledge acquired during both days of the workshop resulted in statistically significant improvements in anatomy postquiz scores compared to the baseline prequiz (P < 0.001). Multivariate regression analyses demonstrated statistically significant relationships between the first-semester anatomy practical score and workshop participation (P = 0.04) as well as a predictive value of gender (P = 0.01). Evaluating a timing effect on the predictive value of the online anatomy workshop demonstrated statistically significant effects of the prematriculation workshop on both first-semester anatomy practicals for August (P = 0.03 for practical 1; P = 0.04 for practical 2) but not July workshop participants. Findings from this study support the utility of an online prematriculation anatomy workshop to prepare students for graduate-level anatomy learning expectations in a doctoral allied health program. NEW & NOTEWORTHY: This paper presents the findings of a retrospective study examining the effectiveness of an online prematriculation anatomy workshop on knowledge acquisition and first-semester anatomy competency following the success of a previously offered peer-led onsite workshop. To our knowledge, this is the first report of an online prematriculation program that successfully introduces graduate-level learning expectations and access to anatomical resources leading to improved anatomy competency in an allied health professional program. As experienced physiotherapy educators in Brazil, we observed that COVID-19 elucidated challenges in the pedagogy of entry-level education overall, and directions for their remediation. In this commentary, we describe our observations with particular attention to the opportunity for digital and distance teaching and learning in Brazil's exemplary middle-income country. First, the legislation in Brazil around health professional education, specifically entry-level physiotherapy education, is described concerning distanced learning. Then, we contrast such education before and during the COVID-19 pandemic, and in the aftermath of its peak. Our observations reinforce the need to preserve teaching and learning excellence in physiotherapy education with various approaches including distanced and digital learning; be aware of both advantages and disadvantages; and identify means of balancing these for optimal delivery and learner outcomes. Our collective experience and insights strongly support the need for change in the legislative document governing physiotherapy education in Brazil. We hope our experiences will enable other educators to evaluate their contexts, reflect on how best to deliver entry-level physiotherapy education in general and during a pandemic, and reinforce the essentiality of practical face-to-face classes in achieving physiotherapy competencies. Patients and Methods: This study was conducted in two phases. First, the AxEL questionnaire was translated into Arabic and cross-culturally adapted. Second, the psychometric properties (such as validity) of the translated AxEL were evaluated. Results: The results showed that back translators and language specialists had no trouble translating the AxEL. The translators' agreement was very high (88.2%), and the questionnaire items were logically and clearly translated from English into Arabic. Conclusion: The Arabic version of AxEL is a valid tool that can assess individuals' beliefs and attitudes towards low back pain (LBP). It fills a significant void in cross-cultural research and can help healthcare providers understand the attitudes and beliefs influencing individuals' management of LBP within the Arabic context. Background: Chronic non-specific low back pain is a non-harmous condition often found in the general population. It is one of the most significant disabilities and needs different treatment modalities. This study investigates the effects of pain neuroscience education and physiotherapy on pain intensity, fear of movement and functional status in a Lithuanian cohort with non-specific low back pain. Methods: The study was performed at the primary health care unit in Kaunas, Lithuania. The key inclusion criterion was persistent non-specific low back pain longer than three months and which affects daily life functions. Thirty participants (mean 33.47, SD 4.38 years age, 70% women) were randomised into two training groups with and without pain neuroscience education (for a total of 60 min of teaching). Physiotherapy was performed twice per week during 45 min/session for a period of 10 weeks with exercises which strengthen, stabilize, and stretch the spinal cord muscles. Outcomes included pain intensity, kinesiophobia and disability and these were measured by self-scored questionnaires (numeric rating scale, Tampa scale for kinesiophobia-11, Oswestry disability index and the Roland–Morris questionnaire, respectively). Results: The results indicate that both groups improved in the measured outcomes, with the only difference between them being a better improvement in kinesiophobia in the group receiving physiotherapy and pain neuroscience education. Conclusions: The results of this study confirm that a relatively short intervention of pain neuroscience education enhances the effects of physiotherapy and should be implemented in clinical practice. Objective The objective of this study was to compare the lexical sophistication of personal statements submitted by professional physical therapist education program applicants with those generated by OpenAI's Chat Generative Pretrained Transformer (ChatGPT). Methods Personal statements from 152 applicants and 20 generated by ChatGPT were collected, all in response to a standardized prompt. These statements were coded numerically, then analyzed with recurrence quantification analyses (RQAs). RQA indices including recurrence, determinism, max line, mean line, and entropy were compared with t -tests. A receiver operating characteristic curve analysis was used to examine discriminative validity of RQA indices to distinguish between ChatGPT and human-generated personal statements. Results ChatGPT-generated personal statements exhibited higher recurrence, determinism, mean line, and entropy values than did human-generated personal statements. The strongest discriminator was a 13.04% determinism rate, which differentiated ChatGPT from human-generated writing samples with 70% sensitivity and 91.4% specificity (positive likelihood ratio = 8.14). Personal statements with determinism rates exceeding 13% were 8 times more likely to have been ChatGPT than human generated. Conclusion Although RQA can distinguish artificial intelligence (AI)-generated text from human-generated text, it is not absolute. Thus, AI introduces additional challenges to the authenticity and utility of personal statements. Admissions committees along with organizations providing guidelines in professional physical therapist education program admissions should reevaluate the role of personal statements in applications. Impact As AI-driven chatbots like ChatGPT complicate the evaluation of personal statements, RQA emerges as a potential tool for admissions committees to detect AI-generated statements. The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of an older adult simulation suit on empathy in physical therapy students. The study used a mixed-methods design. An older adult simulator suit was designed for use in this study. The primary outcome measure was empathy as measured by a 20-item Empathy Questionnaire (EQ). Secondary outcomes included rate of perceived exertion, functional mobility, and physical difficulty. Participants were physical therapy students (n = 24) enrolled in an accredited program in the United States. Participants performed a Modified Physical Performance Test (MPPT) with and without the simulator suit, followed by an interview about their experience. For the primary outcome of empathy, there was a significant difference on the EQ (n = 2.51, n =.02), indicating increased empathy following exposure to the suit. For secondary outcomes, there were significant differences on perceived exertion (n = 5.61, n <.001) and MPPT scores (n = 9.18, n <.001). Two themes were developed: 1.) Experience Creates Awareness and Inspires Empathy, and 2.) Empathy Impacts Treatment Perspective. Results support that an older adult simulator suit can affect empathy in student physical therapists. Healthcare practitioners (HCP) have expressed inadequate preparation in providing care to patients living with a dementia. Research suggests experiential learning activities (ELAs) can improve HCP knowledge and comfort toward this population. The purpose of this study was to evaluate the impact of a short-duration (2-hour) dementia ELA on Doctor of Physical Therapy (DPT) students' knowledge and comfort toward individuals living with a dementia. Participants included a sample of first-year DPT students (n=82). In this pre-experimental, single-site, longitudinal study, students participated in an ELA at a memory care facility. They completed a dementia knowledge and comfort survey pre-(T1) and post-ELA(T2), as well as prior to their first clinical experience (nine months post-ELA; T3). Pre- and post-survey analysis demonstrated significant improvements between T1 to T2 and T1 to T3 with overall effect sizes ranging from very large (d=1.256) to huge (d=1.520). There were no significant differences between T2 to T3 analysis. Students demonstrated positive improvements in attitudes toward individuals living with a dementia following this ELA. Improvements were maintained over time. An ELA as short as two hours may improve person-centered care for patients living with a dementia. Purpose: This study aimed to assess the validity and informational value of TikTok content about epicondylitis. The hypothesis tested herein was that TikTok video content would not provide adequate and valid information. Methods: The term "epicondylitis" was used as a keyword to comprehensively search for TikTok videos, and the first 100 videos that were retrieved were subsequently included for analysis. The duration, number of likes, number of shares and number of views were recorded for each video. Furthermore, the videos were categorized on the basis of their source (medical doctor, physiotherapist, or private user), type of information (physical therapy, anatomy, clinical examination, etiopathogenesis, patient experience, treatment, or other), video content (rehabilitation, education, or patient experience/testimony), and the presence of music or voice. Assessments of video content quality and reliability were conducted using the DISCERN tool, the Journal of the American Medical Association (JAMA) benchmark criteria, and the Global Quality Score (GQS). Results: A total of 100 videos were included in the analysis: 78 (78.0%) were published by physiotherapists, 18 were published by medical doctors (18.0%), and 4 were published by private users (4.0%). Most of the information pertained to physical therapy (75; 75.0%) and most of the content was about rehabilitation (75; 75.0%). The mean length of the videos was 42.51 ± 24.75 seconds; the mean number of views was 193,207.78 ± 1,300,853.86; and the mean number of comments, likes, and shares were 22.43 ± 62.54, 1578.52 ± 8333.11, and 149.87 ± 577.73, respectively. The mean DISCERN score, JAMA score, and GQS were 18.12 ± 5.73, 0.80 ± 0.53, and 1.30 ± 0.52, respectively. Videos posted by medical doctors/private users had higher scores (p < 0.05) than videos posted by physiotherapists. Videos that focused on education or patient experience had higher scores (p < 0.05) than videos based on rehabilitation. Conclusions: TikTok can be an unreliable source of information regarding epicondylitis treatment. It is common to find nonphysicians who share medical advice on the platform, with medical treatments demonstrating the weakest level of supporting evidence. Elbow surgeons should advise their patients that treatment recommendations from TikTok may not align with established guidelines. Level of Evidence: Level IV—Cross-sectional study. To evaluate a knowledge translation intervention to determine knowledge, attitudes and self-efficacy related to HIV and rehabilitation advocacy in physiotherapy students. A pre and post-test study was conducted at three physiotherapy-training programs in Sub Saharan Africa – the University of the Witwatersrand (Wits), the University of Zambia (UNZA) and Kenya Medical Technical College (KMTC). For each site, the knowledge, attitude and self-efficacy of physiotherapy students were tested pre- and post-intervention using a standardized questionnaire. Students' knowledge improved with regard to being able to describe the challenges faced by their patients, knowing what resources are available and understanding their role as an advocate. In terms of self-efficacy, they felt more confident clinically, as well as being a resource person to colleagues and an advocate for their patients. This study highlights the need to contextualize knowledge translation interventions to meet the unique needs of individual academic sites. Students who have clinical experience working with people living with HIV are more likely to embrace their role as advocates in the area of HIV and rehabilitation. The knowledge translation process used in this study gives a concrete example of how to use research evidence on HIV knowledge in rehabilitation applied within the advocacy process. Applying the principles of advocacy translates to understanding the management of HIV practically. Digital education is expected to transform higher education teaching and learning. Despite high expectations, higher education teachers have been slow to implement active digital learning. The aim of this study was to investigate physiotherapy teachers' attitudes toward and experiences with digital education and what the teachers' considered prerequisites to a digital transformation of teaching and learning in physiotherapy. Qualitative in-depth interviews were conducted with 12 teachers in physiotherapy education. The interviews were analyzed using inductive thematic analysis. The findings illuminate teachers' attitudes toward and experiences with digital education and their views on prerequisites to a digital transformation of teaching and learning in physiotherapy education, presented as four themes: 1) skepticism toward digital education; 2) digital technology as a tool to support the established teaching practice; 3) longing for teacher collaboration; and 4) calling for time to plan and learn, and significant academic leadership. This study shows how physiotherapy teachers are skeptical about digital education, primarily viewing it as a threat to established teaching practices. Taken together, the findings demonstrate a potential for digital transformation in physiotherapy education, which can be released by informing the current teaching practices with evidence from research showing how use of digital technology can improve teaching and learning in physiotherapy education. Empathy is a key value in health-related occupations such as physiotherapy. This longitudinal study aimed to determine the empathy levels of students in a four-year bachelor of physiotherapy program. A total of 120 physiotherapy students at a non-governmental university in Istanbul participated in the study between 2016 and 2019. The Turkish adaptation of the student version of the Jefferson Scale of Physician Empathy was used. Empathy scores were compared according to year of study and gender. Most participants were women (n = 101, 84.2%). Empathy scores differed by years of study (p <.001) being highest in the first year and lowest in the fourth year. There was no difference in empathy scores between women and men (p =.26). This is the first longitudinal study to contribute data on empathy levels in Turkish physiotherapy students. The decline in empathy seen in fourth-year physiotherapy students is associated more with the academic program and clinical practice than with any other factor. Further studies are warranted to explore why there are variations in empathy levels in physiotherapy students during their education. Ensuring students develop awareness and skills related to empathy during their undergraduate studies could result in a higher quality of care early in their professional practice. Physiotherapists' understanding of disability has direct relevance for their practices and work with disabled people. To explore how physiotherapists from diverse backgrounds, cultures and social locations conceptualize disability. Understanding their conceptualizations will provide insight to determine future directions regarding disability education, in healthcare education, to optimize the quality of care and life for individuals with disabilities. Six internationally educated physiotherapists enrolled in a Canadian physical therapy bridging program were interviewed and data were analyzed for themes. Participants' conceptualizations of disability were complex and a dynamic process that reflected what was 'thinkable' in relation to experience, such as with social location and in personal, professional and educational domains. This primary theme was reflected in three subthemes: 1) Professional PT acculturation shaped disability conceptualization in particular ways; 2) Medical model as the dominant way of thinking; and 3) Social model thinking was more feasible in resource rich contexts. These results reinforce the benefits of a wide exposure to different ways of conceptualizing and addressing disability within PT education to counter the dominance of the medical model and reinforce the importance of advocacy and allyship with disabled people. Psychomotor skill performance is central to effective clinical practice across health professions. These complex skills are challenging to teach, particularly in the novice learner. As many health professions programs have increased blended course offerings, educators must establish best practices for teaching psychomotor skills in this evolving learning environment. The purpose of this paper is to describe the innovative application of an evidence-based framework to teaching psychomotor skills to novice learners in a blended learning environment. Using a modified 9-step framework, two novice clinical skills courses in a Doctor of Physical Therapy Program were redesigned to teach psychomotor skills in a blended format, using online and in-person class sessions. Online coursework consisted of synchronous and asynchronous learning activities that preceded an immersive lab experience. Formative and summative assessments occurred during lab immersion. The learning framework provided a central evidence-based pillar for novel course design, guiding development of learning activities for teaching psychomotor skills to novice learners in a blended learning environment. Initial student outcomes appear favorable when compared with previous traditional course structures and satisfaction was high. These preliminary findings align with prior research using similar frameworks for learning complex skills and provide an archetype curricular model for a blended learning environment. Background: Many educational disciplines, especially in health professions, are required by accrediting bodies to introduce or include health informatics (HI); however, faculty (academics) teaching this content may not be well prepared. Objective: The aim of this project was to explore how a doctoral physical therapy (DPT) program could more accurately represent compliance with HI accreditation requirements by identifying hidden instances of relevant content within the curriculum. Method: This exploratory, mixed methods, action research study utilised document review, questionnaires and interviews in the collection of quantitative and qualitative data to enable assessment of knowledge about HI, to determine if HI content was already incorporated in current courses, and, whether the content was accurately reflected in course student learning objectives (SLOs). Change in faculty understanding of HI as a result of this study was also assessed. Results: Of 16 DPT faculty, 13 participated in the pre-interview questionnaire; 8 (50%) representing 22/39 courses participated in the full study. Most were unfamiliar with HI and had unrecognised HI already incorporated in their courses leading to several SLO revisions and additions. Interview and post-interview questionnaire results documented significant increases in HI understanding among faculty. Conclusion: Physical therapy and HIM collaboration was successful in identifying HI content hiding in plain sight. Results revealed multiple instances of unrecognised HI content across the DPT curriculum. Revised and newly added SLOs, with others likely to follow due to this study, will assist faculty with future reaccreditation and in preparing graduates to more fully utilise HI in today's digital healthcare environments. Objective The purpose of this study was to describe common perspectives important to achieving excellence and success in physical therapist residency education programs. Methods Individuals with direct responsibility for creating and revising physical therapist residency program goals participated in a mixed-methods study using Q-methodology. They sorted 31 goal topics based on the level of importance for achieving excellence and success in physical therapist residency education. By-participant factor analysis identified dominant perspectives, which were interpreted based on emergent themes from the topics identified as the most important. Participants' rationale for selecting goal topics as the most important were extracted from the post-survey. Results Seventy-three individuals responded, representing 9 of the 11 clinical residency areas of practice. Three main perspectives emerged: resident behaviors, resident achievements, and program attributes. One shared perspective emerged across all 3 factors that emphasized the residents' ability to become self-regulated, lifelong learners who integrate learning into practice: preparation for future learning. Conclusions Variability in weighting the importance of program goals associated with each perspective may include a program's organization and mission, individual beliefs and experiences related to program leadership, and resource availability. Although respondent emphasis placed importance of some items over others, the findings do not suggest that items ranked lower were unnecessary or unimportant in achieving program excellence. The relative importance of items was weighted differently based on the perspective of program leadership and the individual completing the sorting activity. Impact The results of this study suggest that physical therapist residency programs should have at least 1 or 2 goals in each of the 3 distinct perspectives, as well as the 1 shared perspective identified in our findings. Some consistency in program goals based on the perspectives identified here may enable further research exploring excellence, value, and outcomes in physical therapist residency education. Introduction: Over the past 20 years, military medicine made great strides in the medical management of traumatically injured patients. Significant advancements were made in the treatment and rehabilitation after limb loss. These advancements can be attributed to the large number of complex patients presenting to military treatment facilities and the demand for medical professionals to provide care to patients with complex injuries and multiple traumatic amputations. The concern now is to maintain the skills needed to be prepared for the next conflict. To meet this demand, the Extremity Trauma and Amputation Center of Excellence (EACE) initiated the documentation of knowledge, skills, and abilities (KSAs) to ensure that the skill sets needed to treat this unique population are not lost. The EACE developed KSAs to sustain advanced clinical practice for physical therapists, occupational therapists, and prosthetists and is in the process of developing KSAs for orthotists and physical medicine physicians. The learning objectives [terminal and enabling learning objectives (TLOs and ELOs)] derived from each set of KSAs will drive curricula development for enduring education, residencies, and fellowships. This article describes the KSAs and learning objectives for advanced physical therapist competencies in amputation care. Methods: Clinical subject matter experts (SMEs) convened from the Department of Defense (DoD) Advanced Rehabilitation Centers (ARCs) to draft the initial KSAs. All experts had specific expertise in treating individuals with highly complex lower and upper limb amputation. In a quasi-Delphi methodology, the initial draft KSAs underwent five cycles of review and comment by an additional 15 DoD, Veterans Affairs, and civilian institution experts from clinical practice, education, and research. The consensus KSAs were then transcribed into learning objectives with collaboration between clinical subject matter experts and doctoral-level educators. Results: The final program document has 21 instructional modules with 30 TLOs and 157 ELOs. Conclusion: The KSAs and the learning objectives describe the skills expected of an advanced practice physical therapist treating patients with traumatic limb loss. Weaknesses of this document include the focus on traumatic amputation and military specific needs. However, many of the central advanced practices are universal to all physical therapists working in amputation. Thus, this document should serve as a starting point and can evolve to include dysvascular, oncology, and other etiologies. To our knowledge, this is the first paper to describe the KSAs for the advanced practice physical therapist working with traumatic limb loss population. Introduction: Simulation-based teaching is a technique for imitating a situation's behavior or process via a suitable analog situation for training or teaching purposes. Simulation-based teaching is widely used in various domains; however, there is limited literature on evaluating the role of simulated-based teaching in physiotherapy. This study investigates the effect of simulation-based teaching on learning domains for traumatic brain injury topics framed for final-year physiotherapy students. Materials and Methods: A total of 51 final-year physiotherapy students were randomly selected and allocated into two groups. Group A (n=25) includes didactic with PowerPoint presentation teaching session. Group B (n=26) includes simulated-based teaching sessions. There were eight simulators selected and trained for the Ranchos Los Amigos stages. The students were assessed using a self-designed pre-post multiple-choice questions (MCQ) test for knowledge and a clinical evaluation exercise for affective and psychomotor skills. Results: This study showed that group B significantly improved in the pre-post self-made MCQ test (t=17.34, P=0.00), and in the clinical evaluation exercise, group B performed 43.66% better than group A. Conclusion: The study concludes that simulation-based teaching significantly improves cognitive, affective, and psychomotor skills compared to traditional methods for traumatic brain injury topics framed for final-year physiotherapy students. Introduction: Teamwork is an essential component of delivering successful physiotherapy services to patients; therefore, the education of physiotherapy students should be directed toward strategies that promote interaction between classmates. A flipped classroom (FC) is a pedagogical strategy that promotes active learning. The present study aimed to design, implement, and evaluate the FC for postgraduate physiotherapy students. Materials and Methods: A total of 44 postgraduate general and sport physiotherapy students participated in this study from 2016 to 2019. Two theoretical courses were designed and delivered based on the FC approach. The data were collected using a questionnaire that contained 12 items based on the 5-point Likert scale. The data were analyzed using descriptive statistics, Mann-Whitney, and Fisher exact tests. Results: The students' familiarity with FC was 2.52±1.51 (median=3). The total agreement with FC was 3.42±0.92 (median=3). Only 22.7% of the students reported no increase in motivation. Meanwhile, 71% of the students agreed with a blended classroom, while only 52% preferred to teach only with FC. Conclusion: Most students preferred a blended classroom combining in-class and home activities. Also, the FC could augment the interaction and motivation of the students. Background and Purpose: Physiotherapy is gaining a central role in oncology. However, the training and competencies needed by physiotherapists in oncology rehabilitation are still unclear. This study aims to articulate the training trajectory of physiotherapists in oncology rehabilitation from entry‐level education to advanced education degrees. Methods: Qualitative focus group study following a 'Reflexive Thematic Analysis' for data analysis. Participants were Italian physiotherapists with expertise in Oncology Rehabilitation (either clinically or academically) and Physiotherapy Bachelor of Science (BSc) course leaders, selected through purposive sampling. Results: Two focus groups were conducted with 14 participants. Six themes were developed: 1. 'Entry‐Level Education in Oncology Rehabilitation: Let's Have a Taste', as the BSc introduces oncology rehabilitation. 2. 'Basic Knowledge: Building up the Library' as students acquire basic knowledge on oncology rehabilitation during their BSc; 3. 'Learning by Experience: The Relevance of the Placement' to answer the question "Is this the right road for me?"; 4. 'Clinical Reasoning and Competencies in Oncology Rehabilitation Embedded in Uncertainty' because oncology physiotherapists need to deal with the uncertainty of their patients' status; 5. 'Advanced Education Degree Skills: from Appetiser to the Main Course', as advanced education degree courses allow for becoming an expert in the field; 6. 'A Call to Action for Physiotherapists: Prevention—Diagnosis—Survivorship & End of Life', to realise their critical role in all the phases of the oncology path. Conclusions: The BSc in Physiotherapy provides a foundation for future physiotherapists to understand oncology rehabilitation, but advanced education is necessary for expertise. The findings of this study have important implications for creating a shared physiotherapy curriculum in oncology rehabilitation. Background: A paucity of Spanish language, culturally relevant parent education materials in the healthcare setting results in suboptimal care for Latinx families and further perpetuates health disparities. The purpose of this article is to describe the process for Spanish translation and cultural adaptations to parent education materials of a parent-centered physical therapy program designed to support maternal mental health and infant development during Neonatal Intensive Care (NICU).Methods: Two bilingual physical therapy (PT) students translated educational materials from English to Spanish and were proofread by a professional translator. Next, we conducted a materials review with 5 members of the Latine Community Review Board (CRB), a "standing" advisory group of natively Spanish-speaking, Latine North Carolinians who contract with research teams under the coordination of the Inclusive Science Program (ISP) of the North Carolina Translational and Clinical Sciences Institute (NC TraCS). Review session recruitment, facilitation, and data analysis were conducted by bilingual NC TraCS project managers and the primary investigator for the main feasibility study. Readability analyses were performed at the final stage of translation and adaptation.Results: Themes from CRB review sessions for improvement included to 1) use parent-friendly language, 2) use the plural masculine form of gendered language for caregivers to include all gender identities in this neonatal context, 3) address challenges with direct translation, and 4) use written education materials to supplement in-person, hands-on training with parents and their infants. All translated materials received a grade level of 5 on the Crawford grade-level index.Conclusion: Based on CRB feedback and readability analysis, the translation and cultural-adaptation process resulted in comprehensible written parent education materials for Spanish-speaking families. Review meetings with the CRB reinforced the need for Spanish materials in the healthcare setting. Further assessment of these materials with Spanish-speaking families in the NICU setting is needed. Multiple healthcare professionals fit walking aids (WA) and train individuals on their use. The purpose of this investigation was to describe curricula on WA fitting and training in Canadian entry-to-practice professional programs. An online survey was administered to leads from all accredited programs (n = 199). Seventeen questions asked about the importance of WA education, instructional methods and time dedicated to WA fitting and skills training, and how the pandemic had affected WA curriculum delivery. Responses were received from 97 programs. While most occupational therapy (OT, 8/15), physiatry (PM&R, 5/9), and physical therapy (PT, 12/19) trainees received more than 3 h of instruction on WA fitting, most nursing (29/40) and pharmacy (7/8) programs spent less than 3 h on this topic. Most OT (9/15) and PT (15/19) programs spent more than 3 h on WA skills training whereas most nursing (25/40), pharmacy (4/8), and PM&R (5/9) programs spent less than 3 h on this subject. Across all programs, 52% educated students on adapting activities of daily living for WA while 18% provided education on WA maintenance and repair. Only 19/89 programs consulted a formal WA skills training resource for curriculum development. Seventeen of 55 programs modified their WA curricula due to the pandemic. There is a wide range in curricular approaches to WA education in Canadian professional programs. This highlights the need for a standardised WA education program to guide curricular development to ultimately improve safe WA use for clients with short- and long-term mobility impairments. Curricula on walking aids is extremely variable within and between programs. Navigating terrains, adapting activities of daily living, and maintenance are poorly taught. Objective: To investigate the self-reported confidence of final year Australian physiotherapy students and recent graduates in their capability to deliver care via videoconferencing. Design: A national cross-sectional survey Participants: Australian physiotherapy students enrolled in their final year of an entry-to-practice physiotherapy program and recent graduates (graduating year 2020 or 2021) from an entry-to-practice physiotherapy program. Methods: Participants were recruited via email invitation from their university, direct invitation during a lecture/tutorial and advertisements on social media. Participants rated their confidence (using 4-point Likert scales) in performing 60 individual core capabilities across seven domains from an international core capability framework developed for physiotherapists delivering quality care via videoconferencing. Data were dichotomised with 'moderately confident' and 'extremely confident' deemed as 'confident' and 'slightly confident' and 'not confident' deemed as 'not confident'. Results: 343 participants from 20 (out of 25) Australian universities offering entry-to-practice physiotherapy programs completed the survey. The most common program participants were enrolled in/completed was a Bachelor of Physiotherapy (61%, n=209). Overall, most (75-100%) participants were confident in the domain 'delivery of telehealth', many (51-74%) were confident in domains of 'patient privacy and confidentiality', 'patient safety', 'assessment and diagnosis', 'care planning and management', and some (25-50%) were confident in 'technology skills' and 'compliance' issues. Conclusion: Findings from this study highlight areas where final year entry-to-practice physiotherapy students and recent graduates may need additional support and training to deliver quality care via videoconferencing. Producing science that supports the physical therapist profession in all its endeavors is critical to ensure that the best evidence is used in practice and education. In this Perspective, numerous conundrums are discussed that can constrain efforts to be productive in research in the academic institutions that serve as the intellectual centers of the discipline. Taken together, these conundrums and the conditions that create them collectively contribute to the wicked problem of how to generate sufficient evidence to support the practice of physical therapy. In response, this Perspective recommends changes in the Standards and Elements of the Commission on Accreditation in Physical Therapy Education to support the importance of faculty research, reconfigure the rules for faculty composition, and introduce a new metric of productivity that reinforces the need of all programs to produce evidence for the profession, while still allowing flexibility and institutional prerogative to govern how this need is expressed. Objective The purpose of this study was to explore how physical therapists use movement as a component of their clinical reasoning. Additionally, this research explored whether movement as a component of clinical reasoning aligns with the proposed signature pedagogy for physical therapist education, human body as teacher. Methods The study utilized qualitative, descriptive methods in a multiple case studies design (each practice setting represented a different case for analysis purposes) with cross-case comparisons. Researchers conducted 8 focus groups across practice settings including acute care, inpatient neurological, outpatient orthopedics, and pediatrics. Each focus group had 4 to 6 participants. Through an iterative, interactive process of coding and discussion among all researchers, a final coding scheme was developed. Results Through exploration of the research aims, 3 themes emerged from the data. These primary themes are: (1) movement drives clinical reasoning to optimize function; (2) reasoning about movement is multisensory and embodied; and (3) reasoning about movement relies on communication. Conclusions This research supports a description of movement as the lens used by physical therapists in clinical reasoning and the integral role of movement in clinical reasoning and in learning from and through movement of the human body while learning from clinical reasoning experiences in practice. Impact As the understanding of the ways physical therapists use and learn from movement in clinical reasoning and practice continues to emerge, it is important to continue exploring ways to best make this expanded, embodied conception of clinical reasoning explicit in the education of future generations of physical therapists. Evidence-based physiotherapy practice (EBPTP) is becoming increasingly important to improve patient outcomes and clinical decision-making in the physiotherapy profession To evaluate the EBPTP in Jordan and identify the barriers to its implementation in clinical practice The study used a cross-sectional survey of licensed physiotherapists working in Jordan using EBPTP self-reported questionnaire. Frequencies, percentages, and one sample Wilcoxon rank test were used to evaluate the EBPTP level. The EBPTP implementation was evaluated by demographic variations of participants, Spearman's correlation, and stepwise multiple linear regression analyses at 95% confidence interval A total of 210 participants completed the survey. All EBPTP questionnaire elements showed significant positive levels (p =.00) except facility support reflecting non-significant negative level (p =.08). The EBPTP implementation was at a significantly lower level of uptake (p =.00). Clinical decision-making was based mainly on personal experience. The EBPTP implementation was significantly correlated with elements of the EBPTP questionnaire and differed by personal/organizational characteristics. There were four significant predictors of EBPTP implementation: understanding of EBPTP terminologies, facility support, formal training in EBPTP, and being a clinical instructor The findings confirm a clear gap in EBPTP implementation among physiotherapists in Jordan. The EBPTP implementation factors were mainly based on education sectors and work facilities. It is now widely accepted in physiotherapy and in other health professions, that involving patients in the design, planning and implementation of services is best practice. Little is, however, known about how physiotherapy students perceive their professional development in applying person-centered practice. To analyze how undergraduate physiotherapy students experience the process of learning to work in a person-centered way in clinical practice. Five focus-group interviews of final-year physiotherapy students. It is important that students communicate in ways that accommodate the sociocultural characteristics of their patients. Students, where they experience that mutual understanding is not possible to achieve, tend to resort to the biomedical model and take on an expert instructor role that is met with acceptance from the patients. Some practice contexts were also found to strongly promote person-centered practice, others tightly restricting it. In the educational setting, attention should be paid to the practice learning context, to the improvement of the ability of students to grasp the lived world of patients, and to activate their own identities and experiences as a relational tool in practicing person-centered care. Objectively evaluating the quality and effectiveness of a physiotherapy clinical education programme has been unsuccessful to date, due to its complexity and the lack of a standardised tool. We undertook to develop a standardised programme evaluation tool and used the Delphi method to obtain consensus (set at 80%) to determine the face and content validity of the items and domains of the tool, the scoring system and a name for the tool. Academics, clinical physiotherapists and clinical physiotherapy educators participated in the Delphi rounds. Three Delphi rounds ensued: in Delphi round 1, a 71% response rate was obtained and 49 questions obtained 80% consensus. In Delphi round 2, a 91% response rate was obtained and 59 questions obtained 80% consensus. In Delphi round 3, a 42% response rate was obtained, several names were suggested, and the scoring system was established. Assessment is a key learning tool to drive deep and sustained learning and develop lifelong learning skills. Individually, continuous assessments and adaptive assessments have demonstrated potential to positively impact learning. An opportunity to combine continuous and adaptive assessment to enhance learning potential within a physiotherapy program has been identified. Continuous adaptive assessment (CAA) is a learning orientated approach to assessment scaffolded to students' current level of achievement, increasing in difficulty as standards are attained and allowing multiple attempts over a specified time with integrated actionable feedback. We used a mixed methods approach to evaluate student perceptions of feasibility, acceptability and appropriateness of CAA within an academic physiotherapy unit. Data on student perceptions were collected via survey and semi-structured interviews; performance and engagement data were downloaded from the learning management system. CAA was perceived by students to be feasible, acceptable and appropriate. Most students (83%) perceived CAA to be beneficial for learning, identifying multiple attempts, integrated feedback and regular engagement with unit content to be the primary contributors to this benefit; 70% of students perceived CAA to positively impact their learning more than a traditional quiz. Students' expectations of their future profession may have an impact on their professional development. This study aimed to describe first and final year physiotherapy students' expectations of their future profession. A total of 96 respondents participated; 45 students in their first semester 2006, and 51 students in their final semester 2014. Individual written reflections were analyzed separately for each semester, using qualitative manifest inductive content analysis. The analysis resulted in six categories from each semester. The categories from the first semester were: 1) Professional and person-centered; 2) Promote health in a holistic way; 3) Competence makes the patient and therapist feel confident; 4) Focus on education and behavioral change; 5) Confirmed as a role model; and 6) The impact of previous experiences and an unknown situation. The categories from the final semester were: 1) Interaction and learning; 2) Confidence by competence; 3) Value the work environment and knowledge exchange; 4) Personal goals and strategies; 5) Specialist or generalist work; and 6) Work with public health in a global world. In the first semester, students described different work approaches, while students in the last semester described how approaches were to be used. Furthermore, students in their first semester referred more to previous experiences, while students in their final semester developed strategies to achieve their professional goals. Anatomy and clinical skills are taught separately to physical and occupational therapy students. Formaldehyde is the primary chemical used to embalm donors which creates a challenge in integrating clinical skills into the anatomy curriculum. This study aimed to evaluate the integration of clinical skills into anatomical education using Imperial College London-Soft Preservation (ICL-SP) and formaldehyde embalming through the evaluation of student perceived learning and confidence. Students were invited to complete a survey after dissecting an ICL-SP and formaldehyde embalmed donors and perform clinical tests. It was easier to dissect and identify neurovascular structures on ICL-SP donors compared to formaldehyde. Clinical tests, like measuring range of motion and ligament tests were also more realistic on ICL-SP donors. The integration of clinical skills in the anatomical curriculum increased student perceived understanding of associated anatomy (p < 0.001), gave better understanding of how anatomy is important to their professions (p < 0.001) and increased motivation to learn anatomy (p < 0.001). The integration of clinical skills into anatomical education can facilitate student learning with higher confidence performing clinical skills and is complemented by the utilization of the new ICL-SP methodology instead of the traditional formaldehyde preservation. Background: Caesarean section (CS) is associated with numerous complications that lead to the delayed return to functional activities that have a negative influence on the post-natal quality of life (QOL). It is evident that providing regular evidence-based physiotherapy training and education prior to elective CS helps to enhance the post-natal QOL by improving physical, mental, social, and general well-being. The purpose of this study was to examine the effectiveness of physiotherapy training and education prior to elective CS on post-natal QOL. Methods: This single-blind parallel randomized controlled study was carried out at De Soysa Hospital for Women (DSHW), Colombo. The study enrolled 54 women who were scheduled to undergo elective CS. The intervention group (n = 27) of women received physiotherapy training and education, while the control group (n = 27) received standard nursing care. In addition to the primary outcome measures, post-natal QOL was measured. The results were examined using descriptive statistics and the independent samples t-test in IBM SPSS 20. Results: The intervention group showed a higher post-natal QOL for the domains of physical function, role limitation due to physical health, energy/fatigue, and pain than the control group (p < 0.05). Conclusion: Physiotherapy training and education prior to elective CS play a pivotal role in improving the physical health-related domains of QOL following CS. Interprofessional competence is needed to improve health care outcomes. The aim of this paper is to describe the development of theoretically grounded interprofessional education (IPE) experiences to advance interprofessional competencies for occupational and physical therapy doctoral students. In addition, a pretest/postest survey was designed to determine the participants' perceptions of knowledge attainment, roles, and attitudes. Two cohorts of students (N = 115) completed surveys pre and post IPE experiences. Statistically significant changes were found on perception of roles and knowledge attainment. To establish UK Physiotherapy lecturers' perceptions of online learning during the COVID-19 pandemic. A cross-sectional mixed methods electronic survey of UK higher education lecturers, actively teaching pre-registration undergraduate or postgraduate physiotherapy degrees, was conducted between October 2020 and February 2021. Data was converted into proportions with a 95% confidence interval. Likert scale questions were treated as numeric variables with the mean and standard deviation calculated for combined responses. The thematic analysis reported patterns of data extracted from open-ended questions. 96 respondents completed the survey, reporting some positive attributes attached to online learning. 81% (n = 78, 95% CI 72–88) agreed that students developed their digital skills and were able to learn conveniently at their own pace (n = 75, 78%, 95% CI 69–85). However, 62.5% (n = 60, 95% CI 23–72) of respondents felt that students were overall disadvantaged with online learning, with 72% (n = 69, 95% CI 62–80) reporting that online learning was not comparable to face-to-face to teaching. The reasons for perceived student disadvantage were categorised into three themes; 1) a lack of ability in sessions to practice handling techniques, 2) the inability to gauge student understanding and check practical skill competence and 3) the lack of student self-directed practice time. UK physiotherapy lecturers did indicate they would continue to incorporate online learning in the future (n = 84, 87.5%, 95% CI 79–93). Such responses were based on two key themes; an improved work-life balance and the perception that online learning was no more challenging than traditional on-campus delivery. UK physiotherapy lecturers reported that students were disadvantaged with online learning delivery compared to face-to-face teaching. Lecturers indicated a willingness to continue with aspects of online learning across the curriculum, despite suggesting it had a negative impact on students subject understanding. To assess the effectiveness of e-learning methods in comparison with traditional learning on physiotherapy students' knowledge, skills and satisfaction/attitude. Seven databases including PubMed, Web of Science, Embase, Scopus, ProQuest, Ovid SP and Cochrane were searched until October 2021. Randomised controlled trials (RCTs) that compared e-learning with traditional learning or another form of digital education among physiotherapy students and assessed knowledge, skills and satisfaction/attitude were included. Cochrane effective practice and organisation of care tool was used to assess risk of bias. Nineteen RCTs were included. The results suggested that blended learning approach is better than traditional methods for improving skills and satisfaction/attitude in physiotherapy students, with moderate to low level of evidence. There was no difference between blended learning and traditional learning for knowledge acquisition. Pure e-learning revealed an equal result with traditional learning in all measured outcomes. Due to limited number of studies that compared one e-learning method with another form of digital education, the findings were inconclusive. e-Learning methods made changes in knowledge, skills, satisfaction/attitude. Individuals who identify as lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer, intersex, asexual or related identities (LGBTQIA+) experience barriers when accessing healthcare, including physiotherapy. Little is known about physiotherapy students' attitudes and beliefs about caring for LGBTQIA+ individuals and what education is provided. This study aims to identify the attitudes, knowledge and practice of physiotherapy students when caring for LGBTQIA+ patients in the UK. A cross-sectional online survey of physiotherapy students. Independent sample t-tests and an analysis of variance were carried out to analyse between-group differences in heteronormativity scores (modified Heteronormative Attitudes and Beliefs Scale (HABS)) and respondents' attitudes and beliefs about caring for LGBTQIA+ individuals. 107 eligible participants completed the questionnaire with 23% identifying as LGBTQIA + and 41% indicating close personal exposure to LGBTQIA+ people. Clinical placement experience and experience working with LGBTQIA+ people in other professional roles was reported by 16%, 27% respectively. Educational exposure (with a mean (standard deviation (SD)) of 2.7 (2.9) h) to the LGBTQIA + community was reported by 17% of participants. The overall mean (SD) modified-HABS score was 2.65 (1.20). Participants with greater personal and informal educational exposure to LGBTQIA+ topics demonstrated less heteronormative attitudes and beliefs, greater awareness and more inclusive attitudes towards caring for LGBTQIA+ individuals compared to those without. Physiotherapy students have generally positive attitudes towards providing care for LGBTQIA+ individuals. Education is inconsistent and physiotherapy students lack awareness of LGBTQIA+ specific healthcare needs. The Academy of Orthopedic Physical Therapy Pain Education Manual supports the advancement of modern pain content, and the National Institutes of Health Federal Pain Research Strategy has called for new models for pain management. This Perspective proposes the Pain Recovery and Integrative Systems Model (PRISM) as a new model that addresses the multidimensional nature of pain. PRISM is a salutogenic, integrative, process-based cognitive-behavioral model designed for physical therapist education and practice. PRISM aligns with national and international initiatives to better understand and manage pain, thereby mitigating the global opioid crisis. PRISM aims to address the multidimensional nature of pain while building resilience, nurturing growth, and facilitating pain recovery. Background and Purpose: To identify the paediatric curriculum content covered in entry‐level physiotherapy programs within the United Kingdom (UK), and report faculties perceived importance. Strengths, weaknesses, barriers and facilitators, to the implementation of paediatric content were explored. Methods: A cross‐sectional online questionnaire captured entry‐level physiotherapy programme leaders' perceptions of paediatric programs. Results: Fifty‐five responses were submitted, providing a 67% completion rate. Faculty perceived that students' felt the inclusion of paediatric content within the curricula was 'Important' (Mean 3.60 ± SD 0.74). Of 30 diagnoses surveyed, only two were covered 'Well' within curriculums, despite 23 rated at least 'Important' by respondents. Of the 18 assessment/examination components, 13 were covered 'Well' with five 'Somewhat'. All were considered to be at least 'Important'. Perceived strengths were grouped into three main categories (1) integrated/lifespan approach, (2) links to clinical specialists, and (3) a broad/detailed curriculum. Perceived weaknesses included curriculum time pressures and paediatric placement availability. Discussion: The majority of paediatric conditions were only somewhat covered by UK curriculums, despite respondents in the main believing they should be an important element of the entry‐level syllabus. Changes in the accreditation standards of physical therapist education have added new levels of rigor to core faculty qualifications. This study aims to determine if any program characteristics exist that are common to core faculty deficiency citations in the 2019–2020 review cycle. Recently, more than half of all accredited physical therapist education programs (51.5%) have earned citations in core faculty standards/elements. A total of 266 Commission on Accreditation in Physical Therapy Education (CAPTE) accredited and developing physical therapist education programs were included. A review and analysis of programs cited and programs without citation was completed in 2021, to investigate these characteristics in relation to citation status: Campus setting, Regional accreditor, Length of CAPTE accreditation, University control, Carnegie classification, Physical Therapist Centralized Application Service participant, and Program cohort size. A regression model was found to correctly predict with 91.3% accuracy when including common characteristics of campus setting, years of accreditation, university control, and Carnegie class in programs cited for faculty deficiency. Our results suggest that programs residing in a town or rural setting, accredited for ten years or less, housed in an institution with a Carnegie classification of Master's or Baccalaureate, within private institutions, and enroll cohorts less than 31 are more likely to receive citations related to the qualifications or adequacy of core faculty than their counterparts. The description of characteristics common to programs cited could provide guidance to other programs in factors that might predispose them to core faculty deficiencies in the future. New-graduate physiotherapists experience a steep learning curve when transitioning from student to clinician. The acute hospital setting is known to present unique challenges for health clinicians, however, the preparedness of new-graduate physiotherapists for working within this setting remains unclear. The aim of this study was to investigate new-graduate physiotherapists' experiences of working in acute hospital settings and their perceptions toward how their pre-professional training prepared them for this setting. A qualitative study with a general inductive approach was used. Semi-structured interviews with new-graduate physiotherapists working in acute hospital settings were undertaken (n = 14). Interview data were subject to thematic analysis. Four themes were generated from the data: 1) multifactorial and high-pressure nature; 2) managing relationships; 3) realizing responsibility; and 4) constructing realistic experiences. The acute hospital setting presents unique obstacles and additional challenges when transitioning from student to clinician. New-graduates value the role of pre-professional training in their preparation for this context, however, new-graduates reflected on being sheltered from some areas of practice as students. Recommendations are suggested for education providers to adapt pre-professional training, and for employers to implement workplace strategies, which may support new-graduate physiotherapists in the acute hospital setting. The literature is lacking in studies about what specific types of learning activities are most effective for adult learners. To examine the effectiveness of a learning activity with patient interactions as compared to a learning activity without patient interactions. A convenience sample of third year Doctor of Physical Therapy students participated in this retrospective cross-sectional study (n = 47). Data were a clinical reasoning assignment, the Andragogy in Practice Inventory (API) and Intent to Use Scale, and the Behavioral Engagement Related to Instruction (BERI) protocol. Data analysis included descriptive frequencies, paired t-tests, Wilcoxon Signed Rank Tests and Multivariate Analysis of Variance. Significant differences were noted between the learning activity with and the learning activity without patient interaction on several API subscales: prepare the learner, climate setting, setting of objectives and learning activities as well as in the conceptual reasoning area of the clinical reasoning assignment (p =.005, p =.036, p =.002, p =.047, and p =.038, respectively). No other significant differences were noted in other outcome variables. No significant influence of age or gender was found. This study demonstrated that, overall, both the with and without patient interaction learning activities were compatible with the preferences of the adult learner. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
