1. Nematode fauna of fish in Armenia

Abstract: The purpose of the research is to study the species composition of nematodes dwelling in fish in natural reservoirs and on artificial pond fish farms in Armenia.Materials and methods. The studies were performed at the Research Center for Veterinary Medicine and Veterinary and Sanitary Expertise of the Armenian National Agrarian University and at the Laboratory of Molecular Parasitology of the Scientific Center of Zoology and Hydroecology from March 2020 to December 2022. Traditional ichthyo-parasitological methods were used to study 246 fish of 10 species from fish farms in the Ararat and Armavir Regions, from Lake Sevan and the Sevjur, Hrazdan, Marmarik, Akhuryan and Debed Rivers, as well as the Yerevan, Aparan and Akhuryan reservoirs. The study results were statistically processed (descriptive statistics) using the BioStat software.Results and discussion. The fish were found to have four types of nematodes: Contracaecum microcephalum Rudolphi, 1819, Philometroides sanguineus Rudolphi, 1819, Rhabdochona fortunatowi Dinnik, 1933 and Cystidicola farionis Fischer, 1798. Parasites were found in the body, on the serosa, in the air bladder walls, the intestinal lumen and the caudal fin thickness. The total nematode infection rate in fish was 9.76%. The nematode infection rate in fish was characterized by low values of prevalence and intensity other than the infection by the species Rh. fortunatowi (up to 24 specimens per fish). Among the found nematodes, the species C. microcephalum posed a potential threat to human health.

Abstract: Abstract The determination of the strong coupling constant $$\alpha _{\mathrm{s}} (m_{\mathrm{Z}})$$ α s ( m Z ) from H1 inclusive and dijet cross section data [1] exploits perturbative QCD predictions in next-to-next-to-leading order (NNLO) [2–4]. An implementation error in the NNLO predictions was found [4] which changes the numerical values of the predictions and the resulting values of the fits. Using the corrected NNLO predictions together with inclusive jet and dijet data, the strong coupling constant is determined to be $$\alpha _{\mathrm{s}} (m_{\mathrm{Z}}) =0.1166\,(19)_{\mathrm{exp}}\,(24)_{\mathrm{th}}$$ α s ( m Z ) = 0.1166 ( 19 ) exp ( 24 ) th . Complementarily, $$\alpha _{\mathrm{s}} (m_{\mathrm{Z}})$$ α s ( m Z ) is determined together with parton distribution functions of the proton (PDFs) from jet and inclusive DIS data measured by the H1 experiment. The value $$\alpha _{\mathrm{s}} (m_{\mathrm{Z}}) =0.1147\,(25)_{\mathrm{tot}}$$ α s ( m Z ) = 0.1147 ( 25 ) tot obtained is consistent with the determination from jet data alone. Corrected figures and numerical results are provided and the discussion is adapted accordingly.

Abstract: Abstract The measurement of the jet cross sections by the H1 collaboration had been compared to various predictions including the next-to-next-to-leading order (NNLO) QCD calculations which are corrected in this erratum for an implementation error in one of the components of the NNLO calculations. The jet data and the other predictions remain unchanged. Eight figures, one table and conclusions are adapted accordingly, exhibiting even better agreement between the corrected NNLO predictions and the jet data.

4. Seismotectonic analysis of the Viraayots–Karabakh zone (Armenia) and the adjacent areas of Lesser Caucasus

Abstract: The territory of Armenia, although relatively small, is geologically and tectonically complex. Its complexity is not only due to a dense network of faults. It results from a complicated history of tectonic development including several phases of mountain formation and planation, and the extensive development of fold-block, tectonic and magmatic processes. An important scientific task is identification of earthquake-prone structural blocks by analysing seismotectonic data on geotectonic zones in Armenia. This article describes the seismotectonic analysis of geological and geophysical data on the Viraayots-Karabakh zone.We used a wide spectrum of modern tectonic-geomorphological indices and GIS technologies in order to assess the neotectonic (Neogene – Quaternary) activity of the main block units of the study area and to classify the block units by their tectonic activity levels. Tectonics of the study area is contrasting, and many tectonically active blocks are in the immediate neighbourhood with passive blocks.Based on the records of seismic events of various magnitudes and historic earthquake data, we analysed modern seismicity of the block units. For each block, a quantitative analysis of its total seismic energy release was performed, and relationships between the released seismic energy values and the number of recorded earthquakes were analyzed. Based on such analysis, we identify a group of blocks wherein the total released seismic energy values are high, but the numbers of seismic events recorded in these blocks are rather limited. In the context of block tectonic activity, analysing these data makes it possible to detect the blocks with the highest probability of the occurrence of strong earthquakes.

5. General regularities of seismic activity of Northern Armenia in connection with block structure and tectonic activity

Abstract: The study is focused on searching for spatial regularities in the occurrence of earthquake hypocenters in different geological settings in Northern Armenia. Tectonic-geomorphological indices are applied to define the tectonic activity of blocks composing the study area, which was manifested within a long period of time, starting from the neotectonic development period. The blocks are classified accordingly. The regional seismic activity is analysed considering the block structure of the study area. Earthquake focal mechanisms are determined, and dominant displacement trends are identified. Based on the comparative analysis of the blocks’ tectonic activity indicators and the locations of seismic events differing in strength, regular patterns of spatial distribution of seismic events are identified. It is established that the earthquake hypocenters of different strength occur in certain block structures; and the predominant types of movements in the earthquake hypocenters are largely determined by types of fault structures. It is emphasized that investigating the blocks’ neotectonic activity is important for discovering the general patterns of spatial distribution of seismic events.

Using inclusive jet and dijet data together, the strong coupling constant is determined to be $$\alpha _\mathrm{s} (m_\mathrm{Z}) =0.1157\,(20)_\mathrm{exp}\,(29)_\mathrm{th}$$ α s ( m Z ) = 0.1157 ( 20 ) exp ( 29 ) th . Abstract: Abstract. The purpose of this study is to investigate the activity of lipid peroxidation and oxidative modification of proteins, determination of nitric oxide in relation to the content of cytokines in hepatic echinococcosis in humans before and after surgical intervention. Our data suggest that in the development of the pathogenesis of echinococcosis the activation of free radical reactions as well as increase in nitric oxide and cytokines play certain role.

12. Preliminary Statistical Analysis of Lambda Bootis Stars

Abstract: To enlarge our database of Chemically Peculiar stars, we compiled published data concerning the Lambda Bootis stars observed by high-resolution spectroscopy techniques during last decades. In total, 62 Lambda Bootis stars have been added to the database. To deepen our knowledge on statistical overview of the abundance anomalies versus the physical parameters of stars, our data were compared with previous compilations, as well as with Gaia DR2 data. Different statistical tests were applied on our data for 20 chemical elements for the search of interesting correlations for different physical parameters in the atmospheres of those stars. We confirmed all previous results and obtained correlations between different physical parameters, but because of the lack of the data, we could not find new correlations. We hope, that Gaia EDR3 data, on which we are working now, will help us to improve our database and to understand the nature of all Chemically Peculiar stars.

Abstract: In this paper we present a high repetition rate experimental platform for examining the spatial structure and evolution of Biermann-generated magnetic fields in laser-produced plasmas. We have extended the work of prior experiments, which spanned over millimeter scales, by spatially measuring magnetic fields in multiple planes on centimeter scales over thousands of laser shots. Measurements with magnetic flux probes show azimuthally symmetric magnetic fields that range from 60 G at 0.7 cm from the target to 7 G at 4.2 cm from the target. The expansion rate of the magnetic fields and evolution of current density structures are also mapped and examined. Electron temperature and density of the laser-produced plasma are measured with optical Thomson scattering and used to directly calculate a magnetic Reynolds number of $1.4\times {10}^4$ , confirming that magnetic advection is dominant at $\ge 1.5$ cm from the target surface. The results are compared to FLASH simulations, which show qualitative agreement with the data.

Abstract: We present optical Thomson scattering measurements of electron density and temperature in a large-scale (~2 cm) exploding laser plasma produced by irradiating a solid target with a high energy (5-10 J) laser pulse at high repetition rate (1 Hz). The Thomson scattering diagnostic matches this high repetition rate. Unlike previous work performed in single shots at much higher energies, the instrument allows point measurements anywhere inside the plasma by automatically translating the scattering volume using motorized stages as the experiment is repeated at 1 Hz. Measured densities around 4$\times 10^{16}$ cm$^{-3}$ and temperatures around 7 eV result in a scattering parameter near unity, depending on the distance from the target. The measured spectra show the transition from collective scattering close to the target to non-collective scattering at larger distances. Densities obtained by fitting the weakly collective spectra agree to within 10% with an irradiance calibration performed via Raman scattering in nitrogen.

Abstract: The measurement of the jet cross sections by the H1 collaboration had been compared to various predictions including the next-to-next-to-leading order (NNLO) QCD calculations which are corrected in this erratum for an implementation error in one of the components of the NNLO calculations. The jet data and the other predictions remain unchanged. Eight figures, one table and conclusions are adapted accordingly, exhibiting even better agreement between the corrected NNLO predictions and the jet data.

Abstract: The effect of α2-adrenoblocker mesedin (2-(2-methylamino-4-thiazolyl)-1,4-benzodioxane hydrochloride) on the content of oxidative stress biomarkers in the brain tissue was well studied in ischemic disorders. The aim of this study is to reveal the possible mechanisms of the antihypoxic effect of mesedin. The quantitative changes of the final product of lipid peroxidation (LP)—malondialdehyde (MDA) and carbonyl derivatives of proteins — aldehyde-dinitrophenylhydrazones of neutral character (ADNPuv), ketone-dinitro-phenylhydrazones of neutral character (KDNPuv), aldehyde-dinitrophenylhydrazones of basic character (ADNPvs) and ketone-dinitrophenylhydrazones of basic character (KDNPvs) were studied in the brain tissue of rats (n = 56) under the condition of experimental ischemia caused by the ligation of the right common carotid artery. The study showed that one of the possible mechanisms of antihypoxic action of mesedin is its ability to prevent the accumulation of malondialdehyde and to limit protein carbonylation in brain ischemia. The data received demonstrates that mesedin could serve as a potential medicine for the correction of cerebrovascular ischemic disorders, for the reason that along with improving cerebral blood flow and preventing the development of morphological shifts and neurobehavioral disturbances in brain local ischemia, the medicine also mitigates the aggressive action of oxidative stress while protecting the brain tissue from the consequences of hypoxia.

Abstract: We have developed a non-collective Thomson scattering diagnostic for measurements of electron density and temperature on the Large Plasma Device. A triple grating spectrometer with a tunable notch filter is used to discriminate the faint scattering signal from the stray light. In this paper, we describe the diagnostic and its calibration via Raman scattering and present the first measurements performed with the fully commissioned system. Depending on the discharge conditions, the measured densities and temperatures range from 4.0 × 1012 to 2.8 × 1013 cm−3 and from 1.2 to 6.8 eV, respectively. The variation of the measurement error with plasma parameters and discharges averaged is also discussed.

Abstract: The article describes the main problems in the existing researches on the seismotectonics of the territory of Armenia. A review was conducted on certain issues related to the accuracy of the initial seismological data, the problem of identifying possible focal zones of strong earthquakes, and the probabilistic assessment of the seismic hazard of the territory of Armenia. As the results of numerous studies show, the initial seismological data from catalogs and bulletins are characterized by their heterogeneity. Different observation systems and different methods of seismological data processing have led to the fact that when visualizing the spatial distribution of earthquake epicenters on the territory of Armenia, during the instrumental period of observations, an artificially lattice network of epicenters is obtained, which does not agree in any way with the fault tectonics of the territory. During the stud of distribution of earthquake hypocenters by depth, the discrete nature of their distribution was revealed. There is also a number of disadvantages in the area of allocation of focal zones of strong earthquakes. The main part of the conducted research was mainly based on data on previously recorded strong seismic events, as well as on data on historical earthquakes, as a result, for the most part of the studied territory, in fact, no research was conducted. In addition, there are relevant questions about the tectonic basis used in these studies. The last group of problems concerns the probabilistic assessment of the seismic hazard of the territory of Armenia. It is shown that in the existing works, there are quite a lot of unsubstantiated assumptions.Based on the analysis, it is concluded that in the field of seismotectonic studies of the territory of Armenia, there are a number of urgent tasks that require priority solutions.

Abstract: To study the deep structure of the earth it is important to have an optimal monitoring network and reliable seismic baseline database for the investigated area. In addition, the territory of Armenia according to its geology and seismological conditions is a full-scale experimental polygon for seismic problems, in particular the study of Earth's deepest structure by seismic methods. For this purpose, the work aims to assess the effectiveness of the existing seismic monitoring system in Armenia, to offer optimal solutions for the station layout, to evaluate the accuracy of seismic information registered in the RA by performing hypocenter recalculation. Then, within of the work organized modern seismic stations in Armenia and Russia towns with seismic equipment made and produced in Armenia (IGES NAS RA). Abstract: We have developed a solid state probe for an absolute irradiance calibration of the Thomson scattering system on the Large Plasma Device (LAPD), based on Raman scattering off silica. Measurements performed with a triple-grating spectrometer have investigated the intensities of a pulsed laser beam Raman scattered off crystalline and amorphous silica over a range of temperatures of relevance to the LAPD (299 - 498 K). The data were compared with Rayleigh and Raman scattering intensities in gaseous nitrogen. The measurements show that Raman scattering off quartz allows rapid and accurate alignment and calibration of Thomson scattering systems in plasma physics experiments that cannot be calibrated using conventional methods.

Abstract: The interaction of antitumor drug mitoxantrone (MTX) with double-stranded synthetic RNA homopolymers has been studied by means of spectroscopic (UV-Visible absorption, circular dichroism) techniques. The results show a base specificity in this interaction: the association constant with poly(G)[Formula: see text]poly(C) is higher than with poly(I)[Formula: see text]poly(C).Values of changes of the system enthalpy and entropy due to complex-formation were determined through the temperature dependence of the binding constant. Calculations show that due to the intercalation interaction of MTX, the values of changes of the system entropy and enthalpy differ from those obtained at ehtidium bromide interaction with synthetic polyribonucleotides, which shows that the intercalation interaction of MTX with double-stranded RNA significantly differs from that of ethidium bromide with RNA.

Abstract: Thermostability of DNA complexes with anti-tumorous compound — mitoxantrone — at 0.011[Formula: see text]M and 0.11 M NaCl ionic strengths of solution by spectrophotometric and microcalorimetric methods has been studied. It was shown that at small fillings when one molecule of mitoxantrone corresponds to 250 or more base pairs of DNA, the thermostability of complexes strongly depends on the solution’s ionic strength; moreover, at an ionic strength of 0.011 M NaCl the melting temperature dependence on mitoxantrone concentration passes through a minimum. In the mentioned region of mitoxantrone concentration the melting enthalpy of the complexes increases linearly with mitoxantrone concentration enhancement. The observed phenomenon, which is not observed for ethidium bromide complexes with DNA, is qualitatively explained by the increasing of coil-shaped state of DNA–mitoxantrone complex due to additional freedom of rotation of mitoxantrone side groups.

Abstract: Purpose The purpose of this paper is to report the assessment results of the quality of neonatal care services in Armenia and to describe the identified obstacles to improving the quality of care for newborn infants. Design/methodology/approach The study carried out a cross-sectional descriptive design. The data were collected in health facilities with different levels of neonatal care that were selected employing a multi-stage, stratified purposeful sampling design. The quality of neonatal services was assessed using the generic WHO tool. Data collection was performed using face-to-face semi-structured interviews, hospital statistics, medical records and direct observations. Findings In 31 study hospitals, 31,976 deliveries were performed resulting in 31,701 live births and 734 stillbirths. About 85 percent of all neonatal deaths was attributable to early neonatal deaths with over 48 percent occurring during the first 24 h of life. The proportion of neonatal deaths was highest in infants with low birth weight constituting 92.8 percent of all neonatal deaths. The total neonatal mortality rate was 3.50 per 1,000 live births, whereas stillbirth rate and perinatal mortality rate were 22.60 and 25.26 per 1,000 total births in 2015. Specific indicators with relatively lower mean scores included neonatal resuscitation, early breastfeeding, monitoring of newborn conditions, neonatal sepsis, feeding standards, total parenteral nutrition, and infection treatment. Originality/value Given the limited scope of research on quality assessment, this paper provides valuable information on the status of quality of neonatal care services in Armenian health facilities. This work also extends the existing studies focused on quality assessment through applying the model of Avedis Donabedian with the structure–process–outcomes approach as a theoretical basis.

Abstract: To enlarge our database of Chemically Peculiar (CP) stars, we compiled published data concerning the He-weak and He-rich stars observed by high-resolution spectroscopy techniques during last decades. Twenty He-weak and 28 He-rich stars have been added to the database. We have also distinguished roAp stars from stars previously identified as Ap stars. To deepen our knowledge on statistical overview of the abundance anomalies versus the physical parameters of stars, we compared our data with previous compilations. We applied statistical tests on our data and found interesting correlations for effective temperature and surface gravity for all type of stars and a few correlations for projected rotation velocity only for He-rich stars. Abstract: This talk is devoted to the statistical analysis of the new catalogue of Chemically Peculiar stars compiled from papers, where chemical abundances of those stars were given. The catalogue contains chemical abundances and physical parameters of 428 stars based on high-resolution spectroscopy data. Spearman's rank correlation test was applied for 416 CP (108 HgMn, 188 ApBp and 120 AmFm) stars and the correlation between chemical abundances and different physical parameters (effective temperature, surface gravity and rotational velocity) was checked. From dozens interesting cases we secluded four cases: the Mn peculiarities in HgMn stars, the Ca correlation with respect to effective temperature in AmFm stars, the case of helium and iron in ApBp stars. Abstract: In this paper we present a new catalogue of Chemically Peculiar (CP) stars obtained by compiling publications in which abundances of metals are provided. Abstract: Signals of QCD instanton-induced processes are searched for in neutral current deep-inelastic scattering at the electron-proton collider HERA in the kinematic region defined by the Bjorken-scaling variable $x > 10^{-3}$, the inelasticity $0.2< y < 0.7$ and the photon virtuality $150 < Q^2 < 15000$ GeV$^2$. The search is performed using H1 data corresponding to an integrated luminosity of ~$351$ pb$^{-1}$. No evidence for the production of QCD instanton-induced events is observed. Upper limits on the cross section for instanton-induced processes between $1.5$~pb and $6$~pb, at $95\%$~ confidence level, are obtained depending on the kinematic domain in which instantons could be produced. Compared to earlier publications, the limits are improved by an order of magnitude and for the first time are challenging theory predictions.

Abstract: A first measurement is presented of exclusive photoproduction of $$\rho ^0$$ mesons associated with leading neutrons at HERA. The data were taken with the H1 detector in the years 2006 and 2007 at a centre-of-mass energy of $$\sqrt{s}=319$$ GeV and correspond to an integrated luminosity of 1.16 pb $$^{-1}$$ . The $$\rho ^0$$ mesons with transverse momenta $$p_T0.35$$ , are detected in the Forward Neutron Calorimeter. The phase space of the measurement is defined by the photon virtuality $$Q^2 < 2$$ GeV $$^2$$ , the total energy of the photon–proton system $$20 < W_{\gamma p}< 100$$ GeV and the polar angle of the leading neutron $$\theta _n < 0.75$$ mrad. The cross section of the reaction $$\gamma p \rightarrow \rho ^0 n \pi ^+$$ is measured as a function of several variables. The data are interpreted in terms of a double peripheral process, involving pion exchange at the proton vertex followed by elastic photoproduction of a $$\rho ^0$$ meson on the virtual pion. In the framework of one-pion-exchange dominance the elastic cross section of photon-pion scattering, $$\sigma ^\mathrm{el}(\gamma \pi ^+ \rightarrow \rho ^0\pi ^+)$$ , is extracted. The value of this cross section indicates significant absorptive corrections for the exclusive reaction $$\gamma p \rightarrow \rho ^0 n \pi ^+$$ .

Abstract: A measurement of elastic deeply virtual Compton scattering gamma*p --> gamma p using e(+) p and e(-) p collision data recorded with the HI detector at HERA is presented. The analysed data sample corresponds to an integrated luminosity of 306 pb(-1), almost equally shared between both beam charges. The cross section is measured as a function of the virtuality Q(2) of the exchanged photon and the centre-of-mass energy W of the gamma*p system in the kinematic domain 6.5 < Q(2) < 80 GeV2, 30 < W < 140 GeV and |t| < 1 GeV2, where t denotes the squared momentum transfer at the proton vertex. The cross section is determined differentially in t for different Q(2) and W values and exponential t-slope parameters are derived. Using e(+) p and e(-) p data samples, a beam charge asymmetry is extracted for the first time in the low Biorken x kinematic domain. The observed asymmetry is attributed to the interference between Bethe-Heitler and deeply virtual Compton scattering processes. Experimental results are discussed in the context of two different models, one based on generalised parton distributions and one based on the dipole approach. (C) 2009 Elsevier B.V. Abstract: Inclusive non-diffractive photoproduction of rho(770)(0), K*(892)(0) and phi(1020) mesons is investigated with the H1 detector in ep collisions at HERA. The corresponding average gamma p centre-of-mass energy is 210 GeV. The mesons are measured in the transverse momentum range 0.5 < p(T) < 7 GeV and the rapidity range vertical bar y(lab)vertical bar < 1. Differential cross sections are presented as a function of transverse momentum and rapidity, and are compared to the predictions of hadroproduction models. (C) 2009 Elsevier B.V. All rights reserved.

Abstract: The balancing of robotic systems is an important issue because it allows significant reduction of torques. However the literature review shows that the gravity balancing of robotic systems is carried out by weightless springs. For many balancing schemes it is the source of errors. This paper deals with an analytically tractable solution for the gravity balancing considering the spring mass. For this purpose, the relationship between the stiffness coefficient of the spring and its mass is provided. Then this relationship is introduced into the balancing equation and spring elastic force is determined taking into account its mass. For zero length springs, the stiffness coefficient of the springs is determined from a quadratic equation and for non-zero length springs from a cubic equation. In this way, an exact balancing of gravitational forces is achieved, which allows improving the balancing accuracy of robotic systems. The efficiency of the suggested approach is illustrated by numerical examples. An application to the balancing of the leg orthosis for robotic rehabilitation is also presented.

Abstract: Small and middle size surface detectors measuring extensive air showers (EAS) initiated by primary cosmic rays (PCR) incident on terrestrial atmosphere have been in operation for the last 50 years. Their main goal is to explore the ‘‘knee’’ in all particle spectrum to solve the problem of cosmic ray (CR) origin and acceleration. The recent achievements of atmospheric Cherenkov telescopes and X-ray space laboratories, establishing the supernova remnants (SNRs) as a source of hadronic cosmic rays, pose stringent conditions on the quality of EAS evidence. After establishing the existence of the ‘‘knee’’ itself, the most pronounced result from EAS studies is the rigidity dependent shift of the knee position to the highest energies. This feature was first observed by separation of the primary flux in different mass groups in MAKET-ANI, EAS-TOP and KASCADE experiments. The MAKET-ANI detector is placed on Mt. Aragats (Armenia) at 3200 m above the sea level (40� 25 0 N, 44� 15 0 E). More than 1.3 · 10 6 showers with size greater than 10 5 particles were registered in 1997–2004. The detector effectively collected the cores of EAS, initiated by primaries with energies of 10 14 –10 17 eV. After proving that the quality of the EAS size and shape reconstruction was reasonably high, we present the lateral distribution function (LDF) for distances from 10 to 120 m from EAS core and EAS size spectra in 5 zenith angle intervals. We use CORSIKA simulations to present the energy spectra. The results from the MAKET-ANI experiment on the energy spectra of the ‘‘light’’(p + He) and ‘‘heavy’’ (O + Si + Fe) nuclear groups are compared to the spectra obtained by balloon experiments and to other available spectra. � 2007 Elsevier B.V. Abstract: Inclusive jet production is studied in neutral current deep-inelastic positron-proton scattering at large four momentum transfer squared Q^2>150 GeV^2 with the H1 detector at HERA. Single and double differential inclusive jet cross sections are measured as a function of Q^2 and of the transverse energy E_T of the jets in the Breit frame. The measurements are found to be well described by calculations at next-to-leading order in perturbative QCD. The running of the strong coupling is demonstrated and the value of alpha_s(M_Z) is determined. The ratio of the inclusive jet cross section to the inclusive neutral current cross section is also measured and used to extract a precise value for alpha_s(M_Z)=0.1193+/-0.0014(exp.)^{+0.0047}_{-0.0030}(th.)+/-0.0016(pdf).

Abstract: Measurements are presented of diffractive open charm production at HERA. The event topology is given by ep -> eX Y where the system X contains at least one charmed hadron and is well separated by a large rapidity gap from a leading low-mass proton remnant system Y. Two analysis techniques are used for the cross section measurements. In the first, the charm quark is tagged by the reconstruction of a D*(2010) meson. This technique is used in deep-inelastic scattering (DIS) and photoproduction. In the second, a method based on the displacement of tracks from the primary vertex is used to measure the open charm contribution to the inclusive diffractive cross section in DIS. The measurements are compared with next-to-leading order QCD predictions based on diffractive parton density functions previously obtained from a QCD analysis of the inclusive diffractive cross section at H1. A good agreement is observed in the full kinematic regime, which supports the validity of QCD factorization for open charm production in diffractive DIS and photoproduction., 39 pages, 13 figures, 8 tables

Abstract: A combination is presented of all inclusive deep inelastic cross sections previously published by the H1 and ZEUS collaborations at HERA for neutral and charged current $e^{\pm}p$ scattering for zero beam polarisation. The data were taken at proton beam energies of 920, 820, 575 and 460 GeV and an electron beam energy of 27.5 GeV. The data correspond to an integrated luminosity of about 1 fb$^{-1}$ and span six orders of magnitude in negative four-momentum-transfer squared, $Q^2$, and Bjorken $x$. The correlations of the systematic uncertainties were evaluated and taken into account for the combination. The combined cross sections were input to QCD analyses at leading order, next-to-leading order and at next-to-next-to-leading order, providing a new set of parton distribution functions, called HERAPDF2.0. In addition to the experimental uncertainties, model and parameterisation uncertainties were assessed for these parton distribution functions. Variants of HERAPDF2.0 with an alternative gluon parameterisation, HERAPDF2.0AG, and using fixed-flavour-number schemes, HERAPDF2.0FF, are presented. The analysis was extended by including HERA data on charm and jet production, resulting in the variant HERAPDF2.0Jets. The inclusion of jet-production cross sections made a simultaneous determination of these parton distributions and the strong coupling constant possible, resulting in $\alpha_s(M_Z)=0.1183 \pm 0.0009 {\rm(exp)} \pm 0.0005{\rm (model/parameterisation)} \pm 0.0012{\rm (hadronisation)} ^{+0.0037}_{-0.0030}{\rm (scale)}$. An extraction of $xF_3^{\gamma Z}$ and results on electroweak unification and scaling violations are also presented.

Abstract: H1 and ZEUS have published single-differential cross sections for inclusive D ∗±-meson production in deep-inelastic ep scattering at HERA from their respective final data sets. These cross sections are combined in the common visible phase-space region of photon virtuality Q 2 > 5 GeV2, electron inelasticity 0.02 < y < 0.7 and the D ∗± meson’s transverse momentum p T(D ∗) > 1.5 GeV and pseudorapidity |η(D ∗)| < 1.5. The combination procedure takes into account all correlations, yielding significantly reduced experimental uncertainties. Double-differential cross sections d2 σ/dQ 2dy are combined with earlier D ∗± data, extending the kinematic range down to Q 2 > 1.5 GeV2. Abstract: Measurements of open charm production cross sections in deep-inelastic ep scattering at HERA from the H1 and ZEUS Collaborations are combined. Reduced cross sections σredcc̄ for charm production are obtained in the kinematic range of photon virtuality 2. 5≤Q2≤2000 GeV2 and Bjorken scaling variable 3{dot operator}10-5≤x≤5{dot operator}10-2. The combination method accounts for the correlations of the systematic uncertainties among the different data sets. The combined charm data together with the combined inclusive deep-inelastic scattering cross sections from HERA are used as input for a detailed NLO QCD analysis to study the influence of different heavy flavour schemes on the parton distribution functions. The optimal values of the charm mass as a parameter in these different schemes are obtained. The implications on the NLO predictions for W± and Z production cross sections at the LHC are investigated. Abstract: A search for a narrow baryonic resonance decaying to K(s)(0)p or K-s(0)(p) over bar is carried out in deep inelastic ep scattering with the H1 detector at HERA. ss Such a resonance could be a strange pentaquark Theta(+), evidence for which has been reported by several experiments. The K(s)(0)p and K-s(0)(p) over bar invariant ss mass distributions presented here do not show any significant peak in the mass range from threshold up to 1.7 GeV. Mass dependent upper limits on sigma(ep -> e Theta X+) x BR(Theta(+) -> K(0)p) are obtained at the 95% confidence level.

Abstract: Measurements are presented of inclusive charm and beauty cross sections in e^+p collisions at HERA for values of photon virtuality 12 \le Q^2 \le 60 GeV^2 and of the Bjorken scaling variable 0.0002 \le x \le 0.005. The fractions of events containing charm and beauty quarks are determined using a method based on the impact parameter, in the transverse plane, of tracks to the primary vertex, as measured by the H1 vertex detector. Values for the structure functions F_2^{c\bar{c}} and F_2^{b\bar{b}} are obtained. This is the first measurement of F_2^{b\bar{b}} in this kinematic range. The results are found to be compatible with the predictions of perturbative quantum chromodynamics and withprevious measurements of F_2^{c\bar{c}}.

Abstract: A search for gravitinos produced in e±p collisions is performed using the H1 detector at HERA. The data were taken at a centre-of-mass energy of 319 GeV and correspond to an integrated luminosity of 64.3 pb -1 for e+p collisions and 13.5 pb-1 for e -p collisions. If R-parity is not conserved, the t-channel exchange of a selectron can produce a neutralino, which, in models where the gravitino is the lightest supersymmetric particle, subsequently decays into a photon and a light gravitino. The resulting event signature, which involves an isolated photon, a jet and missing transverse energy, is analysed for the first time at HERA. No deviation from the Standard Model is found. Exclusion limits on the cross section and on R-parity-violating Yukawa couplings are derived in a Gauge Mediated Supersymmetry Breaking scenario. The results are independent of the squark sector. Neutralinos and supersymmetric partners of the left-handed electron with masses up to 112 GeV and 164 GeV, respectively, can be ruled out at the 95% confidence level for R-parity-violating couplings λ′ equal to 1, in some parts of the parameter space of the considered model. © 2005 Elsevier B.V. Abstract: The Aragats Space-Environmental Center provides monitoring of different species of secondary cosmic rays at two altitudes and with different energy thresholds. One-minute data is available on-line from http://crdlx5.yerphi.am/DVIN/index2.php . We present description of the main monitors along with data acquisition electronics. Also we demonstrate the sensitivity of the different species of secondary cosmic ray flux to geophysical conditions, taking as examples the extremely violent events of October–November 2003. We introduce correlation analysis of the different components of registered time-series as a new tool for the classification of the geoeffective (events on earth affected by solar activity) events and for the forecasting of the severity of the upcoming geomagnetic storm.

Abstract: Measurements are presented of inclusive charm and beauty cross sections in e$^+$p collisions at HERA for values of photon virtuality Q$^2$ > 150 GeV$^2$ and of inelasticity 0.1 < y < 0.7. The charm and beauty fractions are determined using a method based on the impact parameter, in the transverse plane, of tracks to the primary vertex, as measured by the H1 vertex detector. The data are divided into four regions in Q$^2$ and Bjorken x, and values for the structure functions $F_2^{c\overline{c}}$ and $F_2^{b\overline{b}}$ are obtained. The results are found to be compatible with the predictions of perturbative quantum chromodynamics.
