Introduction: Self-esteem is defined by the value people place on themselves. It is an evaluative component of self-knowledge. Plastic surgery has been an alternative for people to improve their vision of themselves, feeling more confident and satisfied with their body aspects. Therefore, by increasing self-esteem in these people, surgery is capable of positively interfering not only with body self-assessment but also in the psychosocial dimension. Method: A prospective longitudinal descriptive and analytical observational study was carried out in which the impact of plastic surgery on self-esteem and personal and professional relationships was assessed. We applied a sociodemographic questionnaire, the Rosenberg Self-Esteem Scale, in addition to the abbreviated WHO Quality of Life Questionnaire (WHOQOL-bref) in patients in the preoperative period and who will undergo plastic surgery at least 3 months after surgery. surgery, thus determining whether or not self-esteem and quality of life improve. Enquanto instrumento propiciador de um pensar decolonial e como meio de reconhecimento de epistemologias invisibilizadas pela ciência moderna, propomos apresentar uma possibilidade de observar o céu pela ótica dos povos indígenas Guarani Kaiowá, Guarani Ñandeva e Terena, habitantes do estado de Mato Grosso do Sul e em áreas urbanas. Sob as perspectivas de teóricos da decolonialidade, demonstramos uma postura emancipadora sobre Astronomia, História Indígena e Literatura ao adotarmos estudos tendentes a expressarem um pensar decolonial e a ideia de uma “ecologia de saberes” que possibilitam a recuperação de práticas e saberes de diferentes grupos sociais. Neste contexto, o livro O céu dos índios de Dourados, Mato Grosso do Sul, de Germano Bruno Afonso e Paulo Souza da Silva (2012), ilustra o caminho teórico-conceitual proposto para um pensar do Sul, rumo à pedagogias e democracias plurais.

Abstract The development of new approaches for the decontamination of surfaces is important to deal with the processes related to exposure to contaminated surfaces. Therefore, was evaluated the efficacy of a disinfection technology using ozonized water (0.7–0.9 ppm of O3) on the surfaces of garments and accessories of volunteers, aiming to reduce the spread of microbial pathogens in the workplace and community. A Log10 microbial reduction of 1.72–2.40 was observed between the surfaces tested. The microbial reductions remained above 60% on most surfaces, and this indicated that the disinfection technology was effective in microbial log reduction regardless of the type of transport used by the volunteers and/or their respective work activities. In association with the evaluation of efficacy, the analysis of the perception of use (approval percentage of 92.45%) was fundamental to consider this technology as an alternative for use as a protective barrier, in conjunction with other preventive measures against microbiological infections, allowing us to contribute to the availability of proven effective devices against the spread of infectious agents in the environment.

O presente artigo visa investigar quais seriam os efeitos do desvelamento do real em cena para o público espectador da dança moderna e contemporânea ao analisar, em consonância com a teoria psicanalítica, a obra Kontakthof(1978) da bailarina e coreógrafa alemã Pina Bausch, fundadora do Tanztheather Wuppertal, que revolucionou a dança contemporânea, ao trazer ao palco a subjetividade de cada bailarino, despertada através de um processo de criação que lhe é peculiar, e que lhe permite estabelecer uma conexão direta com o sujeito espectador, ao suscitar-lhe sentimentos tais como choque e estranhamento (unheimlich), que também podem ser entendidos como mostração da angústia, fenômeno de borda, que nos sinaliza esse último limite anterior ao real e ao campo do gozo.

Abstract Periodontal diseases (PD) are inflammatory conditions that affect the teeth supporting tissues. Increased body fat tissues may contribute to activation of the systemic inflammatory response, leading to comorbidities. Some studies have shown that individuals with obesity present higher incidence of PD than eutrophics. Objective: To investigate the impact of obesity on periodontal tissues and oral microbiota in mice. Methodology: Two obesity mice models were performed, one using 12 weeks of the dietary protocol with a high-fat (HF) diet in C57BL/6 mice and the other using leptin receptor-deficient mice (db/db-/-), which became spontaneously obese. After euthanasia, a DNA-DNA hybridization technique was employed to evaluate the microbiota composition and topical application of chlorhexidine (CHX), an antiseptic, was used to investigate the impact of the oral microbiota on the alveolar bone regarding obesity. Results: Increased adipose tissue may induce alveolar bone loss, neutrophil recruitment, and changes in the oral biofilm, similar to that observed in an experimental model of PD. Topical application of CHX impaired bone changes. Conclusion: Obesity may induce changes in the oral microbiota and neutrophil recruitment, which are associated with alveolar bone loss.

A pesquisa tem como objetivo mensurar os custos trabalhistas e os impactos tributários oriundos da Lei n.º 14.020, de 6 julho de 2020 (decorrente da conversão da Medida Provisória n.º 936, de 1º de abril de 2020), que instituiu o Programa Emergencial de Manutenção do Emprego e da Renda (relançado pela Medida Provisória n.º 1.045, de 27 de abril de 2021), nos agentes: governo, empresa e empregados. Foi realizado um estudo de caso com uma indústria têxtil, segregando as variáveis impactadas com a adoção da lei quanto a ônus e bônus e quanto a custos trabalhistas e impactos tributários para os sujeitos envolvidos. O bônus de capital de giro mensal da empresa, objeto deste estudo, da redução de jornada de 25% à suspensão dos contratos, variou, respectivamente, entre 43,1 e 132,7 mil reais, à contrapartida de ônus entre 41,5 e 110,3 mil reais no governo e entre 3,4 e 28,2 mil reais nos funcionários. A opção pela suspensão, em abril e maio, gerou economia de 265,5 mil reais e preservou 97,7% dos seus empregos. O estudo serve como modelo de aplicação das opções geradas pelo poder público em contingências que afetam o mercado de trabalho, contribuindo para a literatura como diagnóstico dos efeitos dessas ações.

The present work intends to present aspects of education today, it discusses the proposals for permanent education and the challenges in the technological era, contemporary pedagogy inside and outside the school and its role in non-school spaces. It is theoretically based on Paulo Freire (2018), Werneck (2019) and Paiva Neto (2024), among others. This work is justified from the moment in which the aspects of valuing education and family participation within the teaching process are discussed and intends, therefore, to serve as a parameter for parents who will be able to become aware of their role in their children's learning. Leishmaniasis represents a serious world health problem, with 1 billion people being exposed to infection and a broad spectrum of clinical manifestations with a potentially fatal outcome. Based on the limitations observed in the treatment of leishmaniasis, such as high cost, significant adverse effects, and the potential for drug resistance, the aim of the present study was to evaluate the leishmanicidal activity of the compounds pseurotin A and monomethylsulochrin isolated from the biomass extract of Aspergillus sp. The chromatographic profiles of the extract were determined by high-performance liquid chromatography coupled with a diode-array UV-Vis detector (HPLC-DAD-UV), and the molecular identification of the pseurotin A and monomethylsulochrin were carried out by electrospray ionization mass spectrometry in tandem (LC-ESI-MS-MS) and nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR). Antileishmanial activity was assayed against promastigote and intracellular amastigote of Leishmania amazonensis. As a control, cytotoxicity assays were performed in non-infected BALB/c peritoneal macrophages. Ultrastructural alterations in parasites were evaluated by transmission electron microscopy. Changes in mitochondrial membrane potential were determined by flow cytometry. Only monomethylsulochrin inhibited the promastigote growth (IC50 18.04 ± 1.11 µM), with cytotoxicity to peritoneal macrophages (CC50 5.09 91.63 ± 1.28 µM). Activity against intracellular amastigote forms (IC50 5.09 ± 1.06 µM) revealed an increase in antileishmanial activity when compared with promastigotes. In addition to a statistically significant reduction in the evaluated infection parameters, monomethylsulochrin altered the ultrastructure of the promastigote forms with atypical vacuoles, electron-dense corpuscles in the cytoplasm, changes at the mitochondria outer membrane and abnormal disposition around the kinetoplast. It was showed that monomethylsulochrin leads to a decrease in the mitochondrial membrane potential (25.9%, p = 0.0286). Molecular modeling studies revealed that monomethylsulochrin can act as inhibitor of sterol 14-alpha-demethylase (CYP51), a therapeutic target for human trypanosomiasis and leishmaniasis. Assessed for its drug likeness, monomethylsulochrin follows the Lipinski Rule of five and Ghose, Veber, Egan, and Muegge criteria. Furthermore, monomethylsulochrin can be used as a reference in the development of novel and therapeutically useful antileishmanial agents.

Abstract A rare case of congenital mitral insufficiency characterized by a fenestration in the anterior leaflet of mitral valve is reported. At operation, the mitral valve was successfully repaired by closure of unusual valvular tissue orifice with bovine pericardium and suture of the free edge between A1 and A2 without a ring annuloplasty.

This paper aims to investigate the agrarian conflict in the traditional lands inhabited by Chiquitano Indigenous Peoples on the Brazil-Bolivia border. It seeks to determine whether there are human rights violations and whether the Chiquitano case fulfils the necessary requirements to be analysed by the Inter-American System of Human Rights (IASHR). In the first section of the paper we present an ethnographic study conducted between the years 1970 to 2017, in order to understand the agrarian conflict that occurs in Chiquitano lands. In particular, the paper focuses on four Chiquitano communities: Fazendinha and Acorizal, Vila Nova Barbecho, Nossa Senhora Aparecida, and the Aldeia Urbana Aeroporto Hitchi Tuúrrs. The second section introduces the international norms of human rights protections related to Indigenous Peoples, as well as the competencies of the Inter-American Court of Human Rights. In the final section, the paper analyses the potential for the IASHR to adjudge the violations against Chiquitano human rights.

O presente artigo pretende demonstrar ao leitor a importância da utilização de tecnologias para identificação e tomada de decisões durante a ocorrência de um derrame acidental ou por descontrole operacional proveniente de atividades petrolíferas. Para tal processo, é necessário conhecer de forma integral, ou mesmo possuir uma estimativa deles, quais fatores ambientais influenciam a trajetória e intemperização do óleo, já que o ambiente oceânico é dinâmico. Em locais cuja atividade petrolífera é executada intensamente, é requerido que ações mais rotineiras e assertivas sejam implementadas. A área de exploração e produção de petróleo da bacia de Campos, no Estado do Rio de Janeiro, é um deles. Isso devido à sua grande população de unidades de exploração e produção, bem como ao trânsito de embarcações de apoio a essa atividade. Somado a esses fatores, a costa do Estado do Rio de Janeiro possui importância turística e de pesca. Com esse cenário, faz-se necessária constante vigilância. A análise de imagens orbitais com a tecnologia SAR – radar de abertura sintética – para identificações de feições que podem conter substâncias oleosas contribui para um monitoramento efetivo e é capaz de promover uma melhor utilização de recursos quando assimilada com outras ferramentas de monitoramento ou combate à poluição por óleo

Enquadramento: A desmotivação no trabalho de enfermagem condiciona o enfermeiro a desempenhar as suas funções de forma menos produtiva e dificulta o desenvolvimento das suas potencialidades e um desempenho profissional satisfatório, com resultados negativos nos relacionamentos interpessoais e na prestação de cuidados aos utentes e suas famílias, com menor qualidade. Instituir estratégias motivacionais no trabalho de enfermagem é um desafio para os enfermeiros na sua práxis profissional, chefes de equipa, gestores e supervisores. Finalidade: Sintetizar a análise da evidência científica dos estudos selecionados sobre as estratégias motivacionais no trabalho de enfermagem. Objetivos: O objetivo geral desta Revisão Sistemática de Literatura é identificar as estratégias que promovem a motivação no contexto do trabalho de enfermagem. Os objetivos específicos são: descrever a evidência científica disponível sobre o tema em estudo, clarificar os conceitos de motivação e satisfação e sintetizar o processo de tomada de decisão na promoção de estratégias motivacionais no trabalho de enfermagem. Método: A estratégia metodológica utilizada foi a de Joanna Briggs Institute (JBI). Foi estruturada uma questão de investigação segundo a mnemónica PICo, nos idiomas em português, inglês e espanhol, com o operador boleano AND e as palavras-chave foram transcritas de acordo com os Descritores em Ciências da Saúde (DeCS). A colheita de dados ocorreu em maio de 2020 nas bases de dados: SciELO with Full Text da plataforma Open Journal System (OJS), IBECS with Full Text e LILACS with Full Text da plataforma Biblioteca Virtual em Saúde (BVS). Resultaram 65 estudos e após aplicação dos critérios de inclusão e exclusão e avaliação da qualidade metodológica dos estudos selecionados através da avaliação crítica, graus de recomendação para a prática e níveis de evidência, seis estudos foram considerados elegíveis para estudo. A avaliação da qualidade metodológica foi realizada por duas revisoras independentes. Resultados: Os resultados obtidos nos estudos selecionados indicam uma multiplicidade de fatores que influenciam a motivação: a qualidade do ambiente de trabalho, a idade do enfermeiro, o desempenho de funções no setor público ou privado e a presença/ausência de sentimentos de autonomia, reconhecimento, realização e valorização profissional, reuniões motivacionais, padronização de condutas e elaboração de protocolos de cuidados/intervenções, a comunicação e feedback entre enfermeiros colaboradores, gestores e supervisores, a possibilidade de frequência de cursos de formação, a disponibilidade de materiais para a prestação de cuidados e a existência de fatores facilitadores/não facilitadores perante a vivência de situações stressantes junto dos familiares dos doentes em fim de vida. Conclusão: As estratégias promotoras da motivação no contexto de trabalho em enfermagem relacionam-se com as políticas das organizações/instituições de saúde, a conduta dos enfermeiros gestores e supervisores, os relacionamentos interpessoais na equipa de enfermagem, a construção de protocolos, a formação contínua frequentada, os cuidados prestados e a existência de sentimento de autorrealização.

Abstract: Tradescantia pallida (Commelinaceae) has shown promising antibacterial, antioxidant and anticancer activities. This study aimed at extracting hexane from T. pallida (HE-TP) aerial parts to identify and quantify its volatile compounds by GC-MS and GC-FID and at evaluating its antifungal and antiproliferative activities. (E)-4-Methoxycynnamic acid (50.2%), 2,5-di-tert-butyl-1,4-benzoquinone (13.7%) and epijuvabione (10.4%) were the major components identified in HE-TP. HE-TP was incorporated into PDA medium, poured into Petri dishes and transferred to mycelial discs of pathogens. Percentages of inhibition of fungal growth were determined. HE-TP showed remarkable antifungal potential at the dose of 400 µL since it inhibited 100% of Penicillium digitatum and Sclerotinia sclerotiorum growth and 92.6% of Rhizopus stolonifer growth. Besides, HE-TP demonstrated cytotoxic activity against different human tumor cell lines with IC50 values between 231.43 and 428.76 µg/mL. Therefore, results showed that HE-TP has potential against fungi of agronomic interest and tumor cells.

This paper investigates the degradation caused by interference resulting from cyclic prefix violation and symbol timing offset in narrowband power line communication systems. In this sense, it presents a unified formulation from which Hermitian symmetric orthogonal frequency division multiplexing (HS-OFDM), orthogonal chirp division multiplexing (OCDM), single-carrier cyclic prefix (SCCP), and orthogonal time–frequency division multiplexing (OTFDM) can be easily derived. The paper then provides closed-form expressions for quantifying the aforementioned interference in the presence of a frequency domain equalizer. The numerical analyses exhibit the performances of these schemes under various data communication conditions, such as the availability of channel state information, the presence or absence of interference, modeling of additive noise as a white or colored Gaussian random process, frequency domain equalizer type, and the use of bit and power allocation techniques. The closed-form expressions and performance analyses regarding achievable data rate and bit error probability provide guidance for dealing with distinct constraints in narrowband power line communication (PLC) systems using the HS-OFDM, OCDM, SCCP, or OTFDM scheme. Lastly, the unified formulation and results obtained motivate the design of multi-scheme transceivers.

Objetivo: tendo em vista o nível de transparência atual das demonstrações financeiras de seguradoras brasileiras, este trabalho buscou avaliar se era possível estimar a suficiência das provisões técnicas de sinistros por ela estimadas. Por serem passivos de prazo ou montante incertos, as estimativas de provisões podem estar subestimadas (comprometendo as seguradoras) ou superestimadas (onerando os sócios), o que justifica a questão de pesquisa. Métodos: após a análise das demonstrações financeiras de 31 seguradoras no Brasil, notou-se que os critérios de divulgação de desenvolvimento de sinistros variavam substancialmente. Assim, foram selecionadas cinco seguradoras que adotaram procedimentos similares e permitiram a aplicação do modelo de bootstrapping para a estimação do nível de suficiência das provisões. Resultados: a aplicação do modelo em tela revelou que há indícios de que as seguradoras podem fazer uso do gerenciamento de resultados por meio da estimação de provisões técnicas de sinistros, repartindo o ônus do risco de insuficiência das provisões de forma diferente entre segurados e acionistas. Conclusão: há diferenças nos níveis relativos de provisões de sinistros reconhecidos pelas seguradoras, demonstrando que há um possível gerenciamento de resultados sendo aplicado por meio de sua estimação.

RESUMO: A história do direito demonstra a estreita relação do Direito com a dominação de povos subalternizados e a legitimação de atos opressores, instituídos em benefício de interesses econômicos. Diante disso, a busca por um direito descolonial mostrase urgente. Para tanto, são analisadas as origens epistemológicas do direito, do constitucionalismo, dos direitos humanos e da dignidade humana, indagando se o Novo Constitucionalismo Latino-Americano seria um passo rumo à descolonização do direito. Isso porque este movimento ainda contempla um paradigma que vai de encontro às premissas dos sistemas constitucionais tradicionalmente adotados. O Novo Constitucionalismo Latino-Americano se caracteriza por constituições que inserem epistemologias indígenas em seus textos, aportando um conceito de viver bem mais amplo que o do liberalismo. As epistemologias do Sul, ao serem constitucionalmente introduzidas, exibem potencial para lidar com os dilemas da sociedade global. A urgência de se interrogar sobre um Direito pautado nas epistemologias do Sul advém da inquietação quanto às promessas não cumpridas da modernidade, que convocam o Direito a acolher estas epistemologias como seu fundamento. ABSTRACT: Legal history established a strong link between Law, subaltern’s domination, and the legitimation of oppressive acts to the benefit of economic interests. Taking this into account, the need to decolonize Law is urgent. For that reason, we intend to analyze the epistemological origins of law, constitutionalism, human rights and human dignity, questioning whether the New Latin American Constitutionalism is a step towards to the decolonization of Law. The motivation that lies behind that question is the convergence of New Latin American Constitutionalism with the premises held by traditional constitutional systems. Latin American constitutionalism marks itself by inserting indigenous epistemologies into constitutional texts and bearing a concept of good living that surpass the liberal conception. The constitutionalization of Southern epistemologies has also shown potential in dealing with global society dilemmas. The urgency to consider a legal system based on the epistemologies of the South derives from the unfulfilled promises of modernity, which requires Law itself to account for these alternatives as its foundation.

ABSTRACT: Meloidogyne enterolobii is known as the most aggressive root-knot nematode (RKN) in Brazil. Common bean (Phaseolus vulgaris) cultivated in the experimental field in Morrinhos, Southern Goiás State, exhibited symptoms typical to those caused by RKN. In order to clarify the etiology of the disease, root systems were analyzed. Typical galls of varying thickness were observed, with thickening larger than 3 cm in diameter containing RKN females inside roots and egg masses on the root surface. The identification of the nematode species was confirmed by isoenzyme electrophoresis (esterase and malate dehydrogenase phenotypes). This is the first report of M. enterolobii in Goiás and in Brazil parasitizing common bean under field conditions. This result is an alert to producers and to the State phytosanitary defense authorities, in order to prevent the further dissemination of this pest, especially in fields of common bean and industrial tomato in the State.

The objective of this study was to evaluate the partial replacement effect on body measurements (body mass, muscle thickness, and fat thickness) of the concentrated fraction of foals’ diet with a protein supplement containing whey protein, glutamine, and lysine during the post-weaning period. Eighteen Mangalarga Marchador foals were randomly divided into two groups in the post-weaning phase, with nine animals each in the control group (CG) and the group receiving protein supplementation (WG). Based on 4% of their body weight (BW), the CG animals received a diet with roughage to concentrate in a ratio of 50:50, which composed of Cynodon sp. hay and a 15% crude protein (CP) commercial horse ration. The WG diet consisted of the same amount of hay used for the CG diet, half the amount of concentrate used in the CG diet, and 102 g of a protein supplement containing whey protein, glutamine, and lysine. During the experiment, five evaluations were performed, starting on the day of weaning (day 0), followed by evaluations conducted at 7, 14, 28, and 42 days after weaning. Body measurements, body mass, and thickness of the fat and muscle layers were assessed at each time point. The substitution of a portion of the commercial diet with protein supplement containing whey protein, glutamine, and lysine did not cause changes in the weight gain or linear measurements of Mangalarga Marchador foals during the post-weaning period; however, the change in diet increased muscle thickness and decreased fat thickness when compared to animals in the control group.

This research is inserted in the field of Professional and Technological Education in the interface with Science Education and studies on Science-Technology-Society. This is a case study from an ethnographic perspective, in which we sought to characterize a set of Biology classes, at a Federal School, guided by the following questions: the teaching of Biology occurs in order to promote or hinder integration between general and professional training? Are science, technology and society present in the investigated educational practice? Is the Science-Technology-Society approach linked to the characterization of this practice from the point of view of integration? From the perspective of the teacher and the interviewed students, integration does not happen in the investigated educational practice, and science, technology and society are present, but contingently and not explicitly interrelated so that basic and specific knowledge are part of the curriculum in an articulated and integrated way. It was concluded that the integration between general and professional training could have been enhanced by the effective presence of the Science-Technology-Society approach.

Abstract Aims: To determine the incidence of injuries in exclusive treadmill runners and the main associated factors in 24 weeks. Methods: The incidence of injuries was investigated every two weeks by an electronic form. To analyze the associated factors, muscle force output, range of motion, and flexibility were investigated. To perform a descriptive analysis (baseline) and injury predictive factors (regression), we divided runners into two groups, injured and uninjured. Comparisons between groups were assessed evaluated by Student's t-test, Mann-Whitney, or Chi-square test. The relationship between associated factors and incidence of injuries was estimated by Logistic regression analysis. The model's accuracy was assessed by the receiver-operating characteristic curve (ROC). Thirty-seven runners completed the study. Results: The incidence of injuries was 6.8 per 1,000 hours of exposure. Among the associated factors, we highlight that runners with higher hip flexor force output were 4 times more likely not to injure (OR 4.0; CI 95% 1.03 -16.23) and lower knee extensor force output was related to a greater chance of injury (OR .24; 95% CI .65 - .93). The area under the ROC curve was 0.84. Conclusion: The incidence of injuries in treadmill runners was high. The factors associated with the injuries were the output of the flexor strength of the hip and the extensor force of the knee.

Este artículo describe la expresión de la conciencia histórica (Santos-Granero 2004) del pueblo Kukama, de origen tupí-guaraní, que ocupa la llanura amazónica. En su punto de vista conceptual, encontramos la existencia de varias categorías de agentes (Latour 2007), entre ellos, “espíritus-gentes”, “animales-gente”, “plantas-gente”, “peces-gente” y “aves-gente” que nos señalan sus relaciones intrínsecas (Tello Imaina 2016) y moldean el territorio a partir de mitemas (Lévi-Strauss 1968) y presencias paisajísticas y materiales. Siguiendo esta perspectiva, es posible notar una cosmopolítica amazónica kukama, relacionada a la formación de su territorio y el patrón de distribución de agentes humanos y no humanas en un “tiempo sin tiempo” (Tello Imaina 2018) que ordena la vida social y las interacciones con el entorno de las tierras bajas tropicales. Para este fin, realizamos un trabajo etnográfico en la comunidad nativa Dos de Mayo, ubicada en la cuenca del río Marañón (Loreto, Perú), donde entrevistamos a líderes, pescadores y ancianos; mapeamos junto a los moradores lugares de avistamiento del mundo cosmológico y hallazgo de artefactos arqueológicos; y contrastamos los testimonios con las opiniones de sabios kukama de la ciudad de Nauta. Encontramos que las diversas versiones siguen el mismo padrón, describiendo una dinámica histórica socio-espacial de afinidades que forma una red de lugares encantados que trazan el eje fluvial Marañón-Ucayali, en torno a la Reserva Nacional Pacaya Samiria. Este conocimiento del entorno, al relacionarse con el conocimiento arqueológico y lingüístico sobre el tronco Tupí, abre espacio para un debate antropológico más profundo acerca de las redes de sociabilidad y formas de interacción entre agentes y su entorno, tanto social como natural, en la Amazonía. Siendo así, buscamos llenar lagunas teóricas existentes en las investigaciones etnográficas anteriores sobre el tema.

O presente artigo se propõe a discutir sobre os desafios encontrados por acadêmicos (as) homoafetivos (as) ao se expressarem afetivamente no espaço universitário. Foi elaborado a partir de uma pesquisa realizada em 2015, com participação voluntária de 15 estudantes homoafetivos da PUC Minas, com idade entre 18 e 24 anos, de ambos os sexos. A construção do artigo teve como base a abordagem sócio-histórica, que compreende o sujeito como constructo que emerge da constante relação com o contexto sócio-cultural em que está inserido. Optou-se pelo modelo qualitativo de pesquisa, onde o pesquisador é uma parte integrante do processo investigativo. O registro das entrevistas deu-se mediante gravação de áudio e transcrições posteriores, adotando a técnica de análise de conteúdo temática para interpretação dos dados. Os resultados apontam que os principais desafios para expressões homoafetivas no espaço público e universitário estão ligados a intolerância da sociedade ao presenciarem manifestações de afeto entre pessoas do mesmo sexo, o medo de agressões físicas, e também a falta de reconhecimento e aceitação perante a família. Ficou evidenciada a necessidade de promover discussões e reflexões sobre as diferentes formas de amar, bem como as possibilidades de superação dos atuais padrões sociais e sexuais na direção de novas estéticas da existência.

As obesity is now a global pandemic, greater research efforts are needed in order to fully understand the physiological effects of diets with high lipid and low carbohydrate contents, giving special attention to the factors that can lead to a condition of systemic oxidative stress. This condition is related to the onset and development of important diseases including diabetes, dyslipidemia, hypertension, stroke, and heart attack. In this work, immediately after weaning, Wistar rats (n = 8) were submitted to a hyperlipidic diet (34.5% lipids, 23.3% carbohydrates, 24.9% proteins) during 155 days. A control group (n = 8) consumed a standard diet for rodents (4.5% lipids, 48.0% carbohydrates, 25.3% proteins). The hyperlipidic diet did not cause obesity during the period of the experiment, but was detrimental to the development of mass and length of the animals during the first 57 days. A condition of oxidative stress was established, as demonstrated by decreases of plasma proteins and reduced thiols, as well as alterations of hemoglobin. Additional systemic damage was exhibited, including increased glucose intolerance and dyslipidemia, as well as hepatic damage evidenced by the plasma activities of the enzymes alanine transaminase, aspartate transaminase, and alkaline phosphatase. Decrease in lipid concentration ion white adipose tissue, which would allow increased triacylglycerol synthesis and storage if dietary carbohydrates were increased. It could be concluded that the hyperlipidic diet induced severe hepatic damage and might contribute to the future development of obesity and diabetes if the content of carbohydrates in the diet was increased. Natural products derived from plants can be used as photosensitizers for antimicrobial photodynamic therapy (aPDT) combining key therapeutic strategies for tissue repair while controlling microorganisms' growth. We investigated a standardized extract of pequi peels (Caryocar brasiliense Cambess) as a brownish natural photosensitizer for aPDT using blue light. Three concentrations of the pequi extract (PE; 10, 30, or 90 μg/mL) were tested solely or associated with blue laser (445 nm, 100 mW, 138 J/cm2, 6 J, 60 s). In vitro, we quantified reactive oxygen species (ROS), assessed skin keratinocytes (HaCat) viability and migration, and aPDT antimicrobial activity on Streptococcus or Staphylococcus strains. In vivo, we assessed wound closure for the most active concentration disclosed by the in vitro assay (30 μg/mL). Upon aPDT treatments, ROS were significantly increased in cell monolayers regardless of PE concentration. PE at low doses stimulates epithelial cells. Although PE stimulated cellular migration, aPDT was moderately cytotoxic to skin keratinocytes, particularly at the highest concentration. The antimicrobial activity was observed for PE at the lowest concentration (10 μg/mL) and mostly at PE 10 μg/mL and 30 μg/mL when used as aPDT photosensitizers. aPDT with PE 30 μg/mL presents antimicrobial activity without compromising the initial phases of skin repair. Atualmente no Brasil cresce o número de diagnósticos incidentais de tumores císticos de pâncreas em pacientes submetidos a exames de imagem com outra indicação. As neoplasias císticas do pâncreas podem ser divididas principalmente em cistoadenoma seroso, cistoadenoma mucinoso, cistoadenocarcinoma, neoplasia intraductal mucinosa papilífera (IPMN) e tumor sólido-cístico pseudopapilar ou tumor de Frantz. Estas classificações trazem consigo neoplasias com características distintas entre si e ainda mais importante, potenciais malignos diferentes, ocasionando terapêuticas divergentes. Este trabalho tem como objetivo realizar uma revisão bibliográfica do tema facilitando o diagnóstico, tratamento e acompanhamento dos pacientes.

The aim of this study was to observe the genetic relationship between C. frutescens (UENF 1636) and C. chinense (UENF 1785) based on the meiotic behavior, on the meiotic index, and on pollen viability of their F1 hybrids. For meiotic analysis and meiotic index, flower buds were collected and fixed for 24 hours in ethanol: acetic acid (3:1), and then transferred to 70% ethanol, and stored in a freezer. Slides preparation for meiosis, meiotic index and pollen viability was carried out according to the laboratory’s protocol. Hybrid meiosis was regular, and 12 pairs of chromosomes were observed in diakinesis, as well as a few anomalies. The MI of 88.16%, as well as the pollen viability of 72.5%, were satisfactory. Given the results, it was confirmed the genetic proximity of these species, which are classified in the Capsicum annuum gene complex.
