Abstract

SQUID studies of magnetic relaxation and hysteresis on a zone-melted YBa2Cu3O(6+x) sample suggest a nonlogarithmic magnetization decay at high temperature, which can be attributed to a nonlinear U(J) relationship originating from the local pinning potential Up(x). The U(J) relationship helps determine the local pinning potential to be Up(x) = U0(x/x0)(1-ln(x/x0)).

Abstract

Magnetic hysteresis loops (MHLs) are comparatively measured on both textured and single crystalline [Sc.sub.5][Ir.sub.4][Si.sub.10] superconductors. Three kinds of peaks of the flux pinning force are observed at low fields near zero, intermediated fields, and high fields near the upper critical field.

Abstract

Corynespora cassiicola is a plant pathogen associated with leaf-spotting disease. The fungus has been found on diverse substrates: leaves, stems and roots of plants; nematode cysts and human skin. It rarely causes human infections. Here we report one case of subcutaneous phaeohyphomycosis caused by C. cassiicola with prominent tissue necrosis in a woman. All of her clinical features pointed towards a genetic linkage. Hence, whole-exome sequencing and Sanger sequencing were performed on this patient. One mutation of CARD9 was detected. Abstract: Flux pinning behavior of c-axis-oriented MgB2 thin film has been investigated by magnetization and transporting measurements. Critical current density J c and flux pinning force density F p were calculated from magnetization hysteresis loops. Pinning energy U 0 was estimated from both magnetization relaxation and resistivity transition curves. Based on the field and temperature dependence of critical current density, flux pinning force density and pinning energy, flux pinning mechanism in MgB2 superconductor has been analyzed and discussed in detail. Abstract

Magnetic properties of single crystalline and dense polycrystalline MgB2 prepared under high pressure have been investigated in a wide field range through local and global magnetization measurements using micro-Hall probe and SQUID magnetometer. The lower critical field, Hc1, measured by Hall probe shows a BCS-like temperature dependence and can be fitted by two-gap model. Field dependence of magnetic critical current density is quite different for single and polycrystalline samples. There is only one pinning force peak for bulk sample, whereas there are two pinning force peaks for single crystalline sample. The upper critical field, Hc2, and the irreversibility field, Hirr, have been measured with magnetic field parallel and perpendicular to the boron sheets and the anisotropy ratio of Hc2 is estimated to be about 3. Abstract

We report on the precise determination of the lower critical field (Hc1) of the newly discovered superconductor MgB2 measured by Hall probe. Two polycrystalline samples with different grain sizes and one single crystalline sample are compared. By setting a small criterion for the first flux penetration into the sample, Hc1 was determined. Based on our measurements, MgB2 seems more similar to borocarbides and low-Tc superconductors, which follow BCS temperature dependence, than to high-Tc superconductors. 46. Microstructures of Low Angle Boundaries of the Second Generation Single Crystal Superalloy DD6

Abstract

The specimens of low angle boundaries were machined from the second generation single crystal superalloy DD6 blades. The microstructures of low angle boundaries (LAB) were investigated from three scales of dendrite, γ′ phase and atom with optical microscopy (OM), scanning electron microscope (SEM), transition electron microscope (TEM) and high resolution transmission electrion microscopy (HREM). The results showed that on the dendrite scale LAB is interdendrite district formed by three dimensional curved face between the adjacent dendrites. On the γ′ phase scale LAB is composed by a thin layer γ phase and its bilateral imperfect cube γ′ phase. On the atom scale LAB is made up of dislocations within several atom thickness.
