In this study, thermogravimetric measurements of nylon-6/polyethylene double-layer pouch wastes were conducted in N2 under a constant heating-rate mode, and the multiple heating-rate results were analyzed in terms of degradation features and specific temperatures. Experimental results show that the waste pyrolysis involves one reaction stage, and all specific parameters appear to increase with the heating rate. Kinetic analysis of non-isothermal data was thoroughly performed using various isoconversional model-free methods for the calculations of the activation energy, resulting in 143~215 kJ/mol over the whole pyrolysis process. By means of the model-fitting method, the reaction mechanism model g(α) and pre-exponential factor lnk0 are concurrently determined with the aid of the linear compensation effect. With such methodology proposed, the Avrami–Erofeev kinetic model A3/2 of g(α) = [−ln(1 − α)]2/3 is found to be the most appropriate mechanism function for describing the pyrolysis of the nylon-6/polyethylene waste along with lnk0 of 23.14 to 34.26 min−1. With the Arrhenius parameters thus obtained, the predictions were made and performed very satisfactorily to correlate experimental results. Molecular simulations are now an essential part of modern chemistry and physics, especially for the investigation of macromolecules. They have evolved into mature approaches that can be used effectively to understand the structure-to-property relationships of diverse macromolecular systems. In this article, we provide a tutorial on molecular simulations, focusing on the technical and practical aspects. Several prominent and classical simulation methods and software are introduced. The applications of molecular simulations in various directions of macromolecular science are then featured by representative systems, including self-assembly, crystallization, chemical reaction, and some typical non-equilibrium systems. This tutorial paper provides a useful overview of molecular simulations in the rapid progress of macromolecular science, and suggests guidance for researchers who start exploiting molecular simulations in their study. The development of biopolymers for biomedical applications has traditionally been based on new chemistries. However, there is growing recognition that the biological responses can be regulated by the physical as well as the chemical properties of biomaterials. Understanding the biophysicochemical principles regarding biopolymers is thereby of great importance in the generation of advanced biomaterials. Herein, this review article seeks to provide a conceptual framework demonstrating how the approaches of tailored computer simulations and theoretical analysis are harnessed to explore the physicochemical principles of biopolymer cellular interactions. We briefly introduce the theoretical and simulation methods used in this field, summarize the typical findings based on these approaches, and describe the correlations between theoretical results and experiments. Finally, the future prospects for the theoretical aspect of biopolymers and their biophysicochemical interactions are discussed. According to the demand for high-performance fibers for high-latitude ocean exploration and development, this paper selects representative products of high-performance liquid crystal fibers: thermotropic liquid crystal polymer fibers (TLCP) and poly p-phenylene terephthalamide (PPTA) fibers. Through a series of freeze–thaw (F–T) experiments for simulating a real, cold marine environment, we then measure the retention of mechanical properties of these two kinds of fibers. Before that, due to the difference in their chemical structures, we tested their Yang–Laplace contact angle (YLCA) and water absorption; the results suggested that PPTA fibers would absorb more moisture. Surprisingly, then, compared with thermotropic liquid crystal polymer (TLCP) fibers, the retention of the mechanical properties of poly p-phenylene terephthalamide (PPTA) fibers decreased by around 25% after the F–T experiments. The Fourier-transformed infrared (FT-IR) analysis, the attenuated total reflection (ATR) accessory analysis and the degree of crystal orientation measured by two-dimensional wide-angle X-ray diffraction (2D-WAXD) confirm that no changes in the chemical and the orientation structure of the crystal region of the fibers occurred after they underwent the F–T cycles. However, as observed by scanning electron microscopy (SEM), there are microcracks of various extents on the surface of the PPTA fibers, but they do not appear on the surface of TLCP fibers. It is obvious that these microcracks will lead to the loss of mechanical properties; we infer that the moisture absorbed by the PPTA fibers freezes below the freezing point, and the volume expansion of the ice causes the collapse of the microfibrillar structure. The two sorts of fibers subjected to the F–T experiments are immersed in a sodium chloride solution, and the amount of water infiltrated into the PPTA microfibrillar structure is evaluated according to the content of sodium ions in the fiber surface and subsurface layers through X-ray spectroscopy (EDS) elemental analysis. Continuous variable quantum cryptography has developed rapidly in recent decades, but how to verify identity in the continuous variable quantum system is still an urgent issue. To solve this problem, we propose a continuous variable quantum identification (CV-QI) protocol based on the correlation of the two-mode squeezed vacuum state and the continuous variable teleportation. The bidirectional identity verification between two participants of the communication can be achieved by the proposed CV-QI protocol. To guarantee the security, we make full use of the decoy state sequences during the whole process of the proposed CV-QI protocol. Thermal decomposition of tennis ball rubber (TBR) wastes in nitrogen and air has been studied through thermogravimetric analysis. The samples were thermally decomposed from room temperature to 950 K at heating rates of 3 to 20 K/min with a purging flow of 30 cm3/min. The degradation features and specific temperatures for two purging gases are thus compared according to the nonisothermal results. Kinetic analyses of two thermal decomposition processes have been isoconversionally performed using differential or integral methods. The activation energy as a function of mass conversion has been thus obtained over the entire decomposition range, varying from 116.7 to 723.3 kJ/mol for pyrolysis and 98.2 to 383.6 kJ/mol for oxidative thermal decomposition. The iterative Flynn–Wall–Ozawa method combined with the linear compensation effect relationship has been proposed for determining the pre-exponential factor and reaction mechanism function, resulting in chemical order reaction models of f(α) = (1 − α)5.7 and f(α) = (1 − α)5.8 for describing pyrolysis and the oxidative thermal degradation of TBR wastes, respectively. With these kinetic parameters, very satisfactory matching against experimental data has been obtained for both gases. Additionally, the thermodynamic parameters, such as the changes of entropy, enthalpy and Gibbs free energy, over the whole thermal degradation processes have also been evaluated. • The Ni doped Mn 0.25 Cd 0.75 S (MCS-Ni) photocatalysts have been well synthesized. • Dehydrocoupling of amines into imines integrated with H 2 evolution is performed in one photoredox cycle. • The photocatalytic mechanism is revealed for this bifunctional photoredox system. Photocatalytic selective organic transformations coupled with hydrogen (H 2) generation under anaerobic conditions is a promising alternative to tackle the challenges of global energy scarcity and green synthesis. In this work, we report the synthesis and application of Ni doped Mn 0.25 Cd 0.75 S (MCS-Ni) composites for efficient selective dehydrocoupling of amines into imines and H 2. The optimal MCS-Ni composite displays markedly enhanced activities for imines and H 2 generation, which are 7.9 and 11.5 times as high as those of pristine MCS, respectively. The Ni doping modulates the electronic structure of MCS, which improves the light-harvesting abilities and inhibits the recombination of photo-generated electron-hole pairs, thereby remarkably improving the photocatalytic performance of the MCS-Ni composite. Furthermore, the electron paramagnetic resonance (EPR) technique reveals that carbon centered radicals are the critical intermediates in the amine oxidation reaction. This work is promising to provide inspiration towards the rational construction of metal doped semiconductor composite photocatalysts with effective utilization of photo-generated electrons and holes for the coproduction of clean H 2 fuel and high-value added chemicals in a collaborative photoredox reaction. We design a novel high-efficient quantum key agreement protocol with entanglement measure, whose security and high efficiency are guaranteed. In the proposed quantum key agreement protocol, we just utilize the Bell states and two-particle states as quantum resources, and just utilize Bell measurement and the classical binary coding to generate the final shared secret key. Which reduces the quantum sources and improves the efficiency of the proposed quantum key agreement protocol. Besides, we provide the security analyses of the proposed QKA protocol, including the robustness and the attacks of participants. Analyses demonstrate that the proposed QKA protocol with entanglement measure is robust and it can resist the most attacks. In addition, we compare our protocol with typical QKA protocols, and the results show that our protocol is high-efficient. The ever-increasing integrated services in industrial control systems lead to diverse performance objectives and multiple traffic characteristics. Such systems are called mixed-criticality systems (MCSs). Priority-based scheduling is a commonly used mechanism to achieve differential QoS in MCS. While MCSs have supported prioritization as a standard feature, traditional priority-based schedulers incur significant complexity, especially due to the widespread adoption of mixed-criticality applications in embedded systems. It is desirable to lower the complexity of MCSs under the limited computing resource of smart devices. This article presents a novel technique to design resource-efficient priority schedulers for MCSs. We propose a flattened-priority framework to transform an unprioritized scheduler into a priority-based one. The framework works iteratively based on feedback loops. For P priorities, the transformed scheduler converges in P iterations in the worst case. With the proposed framework, the design of priority schedulers is simplified into the design of nonpriority schedulers. Such a simplification dramatically lowers the design effort and system complexity. A case study was performed on an FPGA-based Industrial Ethernet switch that is a typical MCS. Compared with the previous priority schedulers, the transformed priority scheduler by the proposed framework achieves a 30%–50% reduction in the resource usage of lookup tables without performance loss of forwarding delay. The Dmrt (Doublesex and Mab-3 related transcription factor) gene family is a class of crucial transcription factors characterized by a conserved DM (Doublesex/Mab-3) domain. Previous researches indicate this gene family is involved in various physiological processes, especially in sex determination/differentiation and gonad development. Despite the vital roles of the Dmrt gene family in physiological processes, the comprehensive characterization and analysis of the dmrt genes in large yellow croaker (Larimichthys crocea), one of the most commercially important marine fish in China, have not been described. In this study, we performed the first genome-wide systematic analysis of L. crocea dmrt genes through the bioinformatics method. A total of seven members of the Dmrt gene family including Lcdmrt1 , Lcdmrt2a , Lcdmrt2b , Lcdmrt3 , Lcdmrt4 , Lcdmrt5, and Lcdmrt6 were excavated based on the genome data of L. crocea. Further analysis revealed that the dmrt genes of L. crocea were distributed unevenly across four chromosomes. There were three dmrt genes (Lcdmrt1 , Lcdmrt2a , and Lcdmrt3) on 3rd chromosome, one (Lcdmrt6) on 13th chromosome, one (Lcdmrt4) on 14th chromosome, two on (Lcdmrt5 and Lcdmrt2b) 17th chromosome. The gene structure analysis indicated that the number of introns of different dmrt genes of L. crocea had some differences: Lcdmrt1 had four introns, Lcdmrt2a , Lcdmrt2b , and Lcdmrt6 had two introns, Lcdmrt3 , Lcdmrt4 , and Lcdmrt5 had only one intron. The expression pattern analysis with published gonad transcriptome datasets and further confirmed by qRT-PCR revealed that these members of the Dmrt gene family except for Lcdmrt4 were all sexually dimorphic and preferred expressing in testis. Furthermore, the expression pattern analysis also revealed that the expression level of Lcdmrt1 and Lcdmrt6 was significantly higher than that of other members, suggesting that these two genes may play a more important role in testis. An increasingly important trend in the design of industry-strength embedded systems is the integration of multiple services with varying criticality levels into a common computing platform. Such systems are characterized as mixed-criticality multiservice systems (MCMSs). An MCMS has to survive in rigorous environments posed by industry-level requirements. Such survival, however, is becoming continuously more challenging due to the growing system complexity and integrating more and more services. While existing works typically target reliability-driven design optimization to improve the system robustness rather than deal with the surviving problem of the system in extreme physical environments, this paper addresses the problem by enabling the service capability transitions of an MCMS to adapt to the environments. This paper proposes a service capability model to capture the importance of functional modules for the criticality of different services. A model-based service-capability transition mechanism is designed to automatically identify the maximum allowed service capability under a given physical environment. A case study of the proposed techniques was performed on an industrial Ethernet switch which is a typical MCMS, to validate the capability of adaptation to high and low temperatures. Time-sensitive networking (TSN) is a set of extended standards for the IEEE 802.3 Ethernet under development by the IEEE 802.1 TSN task group. TSN depends on two key components, scheduling and fault tolerance, to provide real-time and reliable transmission. There is a strong motivation to replace the widely used field-buses with TSNs in industrial networking applications. However, industrial network devices are typical application-specific embedded systems with limited memory resources. Time-sensitive (TS) transmission certainly prefers on-chip memory, which is even more scarce for embedded systems. As a result, it is critical for TSNs to develop memory-efficient switching techniques with scalable schedulability and elegant fault-tolerance support. This paper proposes a time-triggered switch-memory-switch (SMS) architecture for memory-efficient TSN switches. First, based on the SMS shared memory, our architecture makes it possible to statically schedule memory allocation with full utilization for TS traffic and the remaining memory for other traffic. Compared with per-port memory, the shared memory achieves a ratio of (${n^{n}}/{n!}$) (${\approx }({e^{n}}/{\sqrt {2 \pi n}}), {n\rightarrow \infty }$), where ${n}$ is the port number, in the feasible solution space under memory constraints and thus significantly improves scheduling memory ability and flexibility. Moreover, we develop a fault-tolerance scheme for reliable transmission. It facilitates a memory-efficient implementation of the popular multiline redundancy in industrial networks. Abstract The effect of chlorine elimination from Pt-Sn catalyst on the behavior of hydrocarbon reconstruction in propane dehydrogenation was investigated. The results showed that the chlorine elimination significantly affects multiple characteristics of the catalysts, the type of Pt active phases, and the behavior of hydrocarbon reconstruction. There was no apparent change in catalyst structure. In contrast, the acidity of the catalyst, its specific surface area, and pore volume remarkably decreased whereas its mean pore diameter increased under the same conditions. The degree of Pt sintering, which is disadvantageous to the reaction, was also aggravated. The chlorine elimination also influenced the behavior of hydrocarbon reconstruction in propane dehydrogenation and demonstrated a crucial function in determining selectivity as evidenced by coking experiments. In this work, a strong correlation was established to demonstrate the relation between the structure of Pt active phase and the behavior of hydrocarbon reconstruction in propane dehydrogenation. It is an optimum progress that the chlorine elimination conditions of the Pt active phases centered on the Pt(100) surfaces and the PtSnK/Al 2 O 3 exhibited the best catalytic performance and a low coking rate. Recently, polymers with aggregation-induced emission (AIE) effects have attracted significant attention due to their broad applications in luminescence sensors, stimuli responsive materials, electroluminescence devices, etc. In this review, we summarize recent advances concerning AIE polymers. Four types of AIE polymers including end-functionalized polymers, side-chain polymers, main-chain polymers, and other polymers according to the location of AIEgens, are described. Real-time switched networks are becoming popular with the growing complexity of distributed embedded systems. There is a practical need to transmit noncritical data including diagnostic and supervising data for cost reduction. To meet hard real-time constraints, the time-triggered method is widely used due to its deterministic property, where both the reliability of the control data transmission and the tolerance of link failures are required. Conventional methods deploy redundant links and transmit frames over multiple disjoint paths. This paper presents a novel schedule method for the time-triggered network without simultaneous transmissions with multiple frames. The fault tolerance protocol is localized for critical data. We harness multiple effective optimization heuristics and strategies to ameliorate the existing schedule model and constraints. Nicotinamide (Nam) has recently been characterized as an agent for tissue regeneration due to the observed pro-proliferation effects. However, the effect of Nam on liver regeneration remains undetermined. In the present study, the potency of Nam as a regimen to promote liver regeneration and restore liver function was evaluated following partial hepatectomy (PH) on C57BL/6 mice. Ki-67 immunohistochemical and cell cycle analyses demonstrated that exogenous Nam supplementation promoted the proliferation of hepatocytes and accelerated the recovery of liver tissue. The addition of Nam protected liver function following PH, as evidenced by hematoxylin and eosin staining of liver tissue morphology and measurement of serum liver injury markers. Notably, immunoblotting results revealed that the expression and activity of NAD-dependent protein deacetylase sirtuin-1 (SIRT1) were significantly upregulated following treatment with Nam, suggesting that Nam may promote liver regeneration through activation of SIRT1. The present study demonstrated that Nam regulated the process of liver regeneration and improved liver function by activating SIRT1, suggesting that Nam has the potency to be used for promoting liver regeneration following surgical resection. Abstract The optical and EPR spectral data of the trigonal Cr3+ centers in ZnGa 2 O 4 : Cr3+ crystal are unifiedly calculated by applying the complete diagonalization of energy matrix method resting on the two-spin-orbit-parameter model, where the one-electron basis functions are the molecular orbitals and the contributions from both the spin-orbit parameters of d n ion and ligand ion are included. Thus, the Racah parameters B , C , two spin-orbit parameters and two orbit reduction factors can be evaluated from a adjustable parameter, the covalence factor, and so only three adjustable parameters are used in the calculation. The ten calculated spectral data (seven optical band positions and three EPR parameters, g factors g // , g ⊥ and zero-field splitting D) are rationally consistent with the experimental values. The cross sections for dissociative attachment in the chlorosilanes and chloromethanes for electrons in the energy range 0.2–5.0 eV have been measured. In addition, measurements of the total electron scattering cross sections of the chloromethanes in the 0.2–12.0 eV range are reported. It is observed that dissociative attachment is much more probable in the chloromethanes than the chlorosilanes. This is explained by quantum mechanical calculations which reveal qualitative differences in the nature of the electron–molecule complex for the silanes as compared to the methanes. The interaction of low-energy electrons with silane and its halogenated derivatives is a fundamental step in many plasma chemical processes. The total scattering cross-section for electrons in the 0.2–12 eV range are observed to range up to 10-14 cm2. Summary The determinants of CO 2 emissions have attracted many researchers over the past few decades. Most of studies, however, ignore the possibility that effect of independent variables on CO 2 emissions could vary throughout the CO 2 emission distribution. We address this issue by applying quantile regression methods. We examine whether greater democracy and more financial openness consistently reduce emissions among the most and least emission nations. Our results show that the effect of democracy on CO 2 emissions is heterogeneous across quantiles. miRNAs have extensive functions in differentiation, metabolism, programmed cell death, and tumor metastasis by post-transcriptional regulation. Vasculogenic mimicry is an important pathway in tumor metastasis. Many factors can regulate vasculogenic mimicry, including miRNAs. In previous studies, miR-124 was found to repress proliferation and metastasis in different types of cancers, but whether it functions in cervical cancer remained unknown. Here, we demonstrate that miR-124 can repress vasculogenic mimicry, migration and invasion in HeLa and C33A cells in vitro. Furthermore, we reveal that the effect of miR-124 on vasculogenic mimicry, migration and invasion results from its interaction with AmotL1. MiR-124 regulates AmotL1 negatively by targeting its 3'untranslated region (3'UTR). We found that miR-124 can repress the EMT process. Together, these results improve our understanding of the function of miR-124 in tumor metastasis and will help to provide new potential target sites for cervical cancer treatment. This study aimed to evaluate the effect of ligustrazine on levels of amino acid transmitters in the extracellular fluid of striatum following cerebral ischemia/reperfusion (I/R) in male Sprague-Dawley rats. A microdialysis cannula guide was implanted into the right striatum. After recovery, animals underwent a sham operation or middle cerebral artery occlusion (MCAO). Those that developed cerebral ischemia after MCAO were randomized to receive propylene glycol salt water and ligustrazine respectively. Striatal fluid samples were collected from all animals at 15-min intervals after treatment and were subjected to HPLC analysis of aspartic acid, glutamic acid, taurine, and γ-amino butyric acid. Upon the last sample collection, animals were sacrificed and brain tissue specimens were collected for triphenyltetrazolium chloride staining and NeuN staining. Compared with the sham operation, MCAO induced significant neurological deficits and increased striatal concentrations of the four neurotransmitters assessed in a time-dependent manner (P < 0.01). Ligustrazine effectively attenuated the detrimental effects of MCAO on the brain. A nonlinear theory is developed to describe the cylindrical Richtmyer-Meshkov instability (RMI) of an impulsively accelerated interface between incompressible fluids, which is based on both a technique of Pade' approximation and an approach of perturbation expansion directly on the perturbed interface rather than the unperturbed interface. When cylindrical effect vanishes (i.e., in the large initial radius of the interface), our explicit results reproduce those [Q. Zhang and S.-I. Sohn, Phys. Fluids 9, 1106 (1996)] related to the planar RMI. The present prediction in agreement with previous simulations [C. Matsuoka and K. Nishihara, Phys. Rev. E 73, 055304(R) (2006)] leads us to better understand the cylindrical RMI at arbitrary Atwood numbers for the whole nonlinear regime. The asymptotic growth rate of the cylindrical interface finger (bubble or spike) tends to its initial value or zero, depending upon mode number of the initial cylindrical interface and Atwood number. The explicit conditions, directly affecting asymptotic behavior of the cylindrical interface finger, are investigated in this paper. In recent years, multi-agent epistemic planning has received attention from both dynamic logic and planning communities. Existing implementations of multi-agent epistemic planning are based on compilation into classical planning and suffer from various limitations, such as generating only linear plans, restriction to public actions, and incapability to handle disjunctive beliefs. In this paper, we consider centralized multi-agent epistemic planning from the viewpoint of a third person who coordinates all the agents to achieve the goal. We treat contingent planning, resulting in nonlinear plans. We model private actions and hence handle beliefs, formalized with the multi-agent KD45 logic. We handle static propositional common knowledge, which we call constraints. For such planning settings, we propose a general representation framework where the initial knowledge base (KB) and the goal, the preconditions and effects of actions can be arbitrary KD45 n formulas, and the solution is an action tree branching on sensing results. In this framework, the progression of KBs w.r.t. actions is achieved through the operation of belief revision or update on KD45 n formulas, that is, higher-order belief revision or update. To support efficient reasoning and progression, we make use of a normal form for KD45 n called alternating cover disjunctive formulas (ACDFs). We propose reasoning, revision and update algorithms for ACDFs. Based on these algorithms, adapting the PrAO algorithm for contingent planning from the literature, we implemented a multi-agent epistemic planner called MEPK. The in-line (IL) vortex-induced vibration (VIV) that occurs frequently in ocean engineering may cause severe fatigue damage in slender marine structures. To the best knowledge of the authors, in existing literatures, there is no efficient analytical model for predicting pure IL VIV. In this paper, a wake oscillator model capable of analyzing the IL VIV of slender marine structures has been developed. Two different kinds of van der Pol equations are used to describe the near wake dynamics related to the fluctuating nature of symmetric vortex shedding in the first excitation region and alternate vortex shedding in the second one. Some comparisons are carried out between the present model results and experimental data. A wake oscillator model is presented for the stream-wise vortex-induced vibration of a circular cylinder in the second excitation region. The near wake dynamics related to the fluctuating nature of alternate vortex shedding is modeled based on the classical van der Pol equation. An appropriate approach used in cross-flow VIV is developed to estimate the model empirical parameters. The comparison between our calculations and experiments is carried out to validate the proposed model. It is found that the present model results agree fairly well with the experimental data. Chronic inflammatory demyelinating polyradiculoneuropathy (CIDP) is an immune-mediated demyelinating disease of the peripheral nervous system. Th17 and Th1 cells contribute to the pathogenesis of most autoimmune diseases, but little is known about their distribution and reciprocal relationship in CIDP. In this study, we analyzed the distribution of Th17, Th1, and Th17/Th1 cells in the peripheral blood and cerebrospinal fluid (CSF). The results showed that the frequency of Th17 cells was significantly higher in the peripheral blood mononuclear cell (PBMCs) and CSF of active CIDP in comparison with remitting CIDP or to other non-inflammatory neurological diseases (ONDs), accompanied by similar findings for Th17/Th1 cells. Both active and remitting CIDP have higher percentage of Th1 cells in the CSF than OND. CSF protein levels positively correlated with the frequencies of Th17 cells either in the PBMCs or CSF of active CIDP, while there was no significant correlation with Th1 cells. In line with these observations, the levels of interleukin-17 (IL-17) in plasma and transcript factors retinoic acid receptor-related orphan receptor (ROR) γt expressed by PBMCs were significantly higher in the active CIDP than remitting CIDP or OND. In summary, our preliminary findings suggest that elevated numbers of inflammatory T cells, especially for Th17 cells, might be an important determinant in the evolution of CIDP. Two schemes for controlled dense coding with a four-particle entangled state are investigated, one with entanglement concentration and the other with generalized measurement. In these protocols, the supervisor (Cliff) can control the average amount of information transmitted from the sender (Alice and David) to the receiver (Bob) only by adjusting his local measurement angle θ. An abundance of X chromosomes in testicular germ cell tumors (TGCTs), and a candidate TGCTs susceptibility gene ( TGCT1) on Xq27 highlight the potential involvement of X chromosomes in TGCT pathogenesis. However, the TGCT1 on Xq27 has so far not been identified. We hypothesized that a somatic mutation of dbl oncogene on Xq27 may play a role for the development of TGCTs. We have screened 41 TGCT tissues for dbl mutations using single-strand conformation polymorphism (SSCP) analysis. These tissues are composed of 25 seminomatous TGCTs tissues and 16 non-seminomatous TGCTs tissues, including two cases with a rhabdomyosarcoma component. Somatic mutations were not detected in the 25 exons of dbl in these TGCTs. However, we found a rare single nucleotide polymorphism (SNP) (T to C nucleotide change) within intron 22 in one out of the 41 TGCTs cases (2%). Furthermore, the sample with the rare SNP was identified as the sole TGCTs case associated with bilateral undescended testis in our series. Our results indicate that proto-oncogene dbl is not a major target for sporadic TGCTs. However, the rare SNP in dbl may affect the susceptibility to undescended testis. Abstract: The paper presents a formal modeling and analysis of a protocol for narrow bandwidth channels of service connection establishment and termination. The protocol is characterized by state traces and formally verified by a theorem proving system PVS. Relevant properties are specified and verified in terms of inductive principles. The effectiveness of the proposed method is evidenced by the elaborate analysis which unveils a subtle bug in the initial protocol implementation. Abstract: A two-dimensional (2-D) vortex-induced vibration (VIV) prediction model for high aspect ratio (L/D) riser subjected to uniform and sheared flow is studied in this paper. The nonlinear structure equations are considered. The near wake dynamics describing the fluctuating nature of vortex shedding is modeled using classical van der Pol equation. A new approach was applied to calibrate the empirical parameters in the wake oscillator model. Compared the predicted results with the experimental data and computational fluid dynamic (CFD) results. Good agreements are observed. It can be concluded that the present model can be used as simple computational tool in predicting some aspects of VIV of long flexible structures. We present first-principles studies on the transport properties of small silicon and aluminium clusters: Al2, Si2, Al4 and AlSi sandwiched between two Al (100) electrodes. The variation of the equilibrium conductance as a function of contact distance for these two-probe systems is probed. Our results show that the transport properties are dependent on both the specific nanostructure and the separation distance between the central molecule and the electrodes. For equilibrium transport properties, the clusters with the similar structure show similar transmission spectra at large distances, the small difference can be explained by the electron filling. For current-voltage characteristics, all the clusters show the metallic behaviour at lower bias, however very different non-linear behaviour can be observed at higher bias. For AlSi and Al2, when the distance between the central cluster and the electrodes is 3.5 A, large negative differential resistance (NDR) can be found in the bias range 0.8 V[?]1.4 V. Abstract: Two model spherical iron catalysts (100Fe/0Al2O3 and 100Fe/15Al2O3) with free Cu and K promoters were prepared by the combination of co-precipitation and spray drying method for the application of slurry Fischer–Tropsch synthesis (FTS). The effect of Fe–Al2O3 interaction on the reduction/carburization behavior in H2/CO/syngas, surface basicity and the change of phase structure were comparatively studied by means of H2 or CO temperature-programmed reduction (TPR), CO2 temperature-programmed desorption (TPD) and Mössbauer effect spectroscopy (MES). The results showed that the catalyst incorporated with Al2O3 exhibits a strong Fe–Al2O3 interaction, which obviously weakens the surface basicity, stabilizes the FeO phase and inhibits the reduction of iron catalyst in H2 or syngas. Furthermore, Fe–Al2O3 interaction also restrains the carburization of iron catalyst in CO or syngas. In slurry FTS process, it was found that the strong Fe–Al2O3 interaction decreases the FTS activity and suppresses the water gas shift (WGS) reaction, but can stabilize the active sites of iron catalyst and improve its run stability. Due to the strong Fe–Al2O3 interaction, the weak surface basicity on the catalyst incorporated with Al2O3 greatly decreases the selectivity of heavy hydrocarbon products. [Copyright &y& Elsevier]

Abstract: The effect of adding SiO2 to a precipitated iron-based Fischer–Tropsch synthesis (FTS) catalyst was investigated using N2 physical adsorption, H2 differential thermogravimetric analysis, temperature-programmed reduction/desorption (TPR/TPD) and Mössbauer spectroscopy. The FTS performances of the catalysts with or without SiO2 were compared in a fixed bed reactor. The characterization results indicated that SiO2 facilitates the high dispersion of Fe2O3 and significantly influences the Fe/Cu and Fe/K contacts, which play an important role in the surface basicity, reduction and carburization behaviors, as well as the FTS performances. The incorporation of SiO2 enhances the Fe/Cu contact, further enlarges the H2 adsorption and promotes the reduction of Fe2O3 →FeO x , while the transformation of FeO x →Fe is suppressed probably due to the strong Fe–SiO2 interaction. SiO2 indirectly weakens the surface basicity and severely suppresses the carburization and CO adsorption of the catalyst. In the FTS reaction, it was found that SiO2 decreases the FTS initial activity but improves the catalyst stability. Due to the lower surface basicity than the catalyst without SiO2, the catalyst incorporated with SiO2 has higher selectivity to light hydrocarbons and methane and decreased selectivity to the olefins and heavy hydrocarbons. Abstract: The structural properties and iron–silica interaction of the precipitated iron catalysts incorporated with or without silica have been investigated by powder X-ray diffraction (XRD), Mössbauer spectroscopy, and temperature-programmed reduction (TPR) with H2 consumption quantitative analysis. The Fischer–Tropsch synthesis (FTS) performances of the catalysts were carried out in a slurry-phase continuously stirred tank reactor (CSTR). It was found that, for as-prepared samples, nano-particles of iron oxide mixtures (α- and/or γ-Fe2O3) formed on the silica-incorporated catalyst, whereas well-crystallized hematite (α-Fe2O3) is the only phase on the silica-free catalyst. After reduction in H2, the observed phase in the silica-free catalyst is α-Fe, whereas wüstite (Fe x O) and iron (II) silicate (Fe2SiO4) are the main phases in the silica-incorporated catalyst. In H2-TPR, the Fe3+ ions in the silica-incorporated catalyst are reduced to Fe (0) via Fe2+ ions as intermediate and the reduction extent of iron oxides obviously decreased comparing with the silica-free catalyst. The differences in structural properties and reduction behavior between the silica-free and the silica-incorporated catalysts may be due to the high dispersion effect of silica and the iron–silica interaction. Abstract: A systematic study was undertaken to investigate the effects of Al2O3/SiO2 ratio on reduction, carburization and catalytic behavior of iron-based Fischer–Tropsch synthesis (FTS) catalysts promoted with potassium and copper. The catalysts were characterized by N2 physical adsorption, CO2 temperature-programmed desorption (TPD), H2 temperature-programmed reduction (TPR) and Mössbauer effect spectroscopy (MES). CO2-TPD indicated that Al2O3 binder has stronger acidity than SiO2 binder and weakens the surface basicity of the catalysts. H2-TPR profiles suggested that the lower Al2O3/SiO2 ratio promotes the reduction of Fe2O3→Fe3O4. With further increasing Al2O3/SiO2 ratio, the transformation of Fe2O3→Fe3O4 shifts to higher temperatures. The MES results showed that the increase of Al2O3/SiO2 ratio leads to the relatively large crystallite size of α-Fe2O3 and inhibits carburization of the catalyst. During reaction tests in a fixed bed reactor it was found that a maximum in catalyst activity is noted at the Al2O3/SiO2 ratio of 5/20 (weight basis). The selectivity to olefins shows a rapid decrease and the formations of methane and light hydrocarbons are promoted with increasing Al2O3/SiO2 ratio. Objectives: Tumescent anesthesia frequently causes the intraoperative and postoperative pain during radiofrequency ablation (RFA) of varicose veins. We have to find a way to reduce pain caused by these injections. This randomized controlled trial investigated the effectiveness of topical anesthesia pretreatment (TAP) on relieving needle puncture pain during administration of tumescent anesthesia among patients undergoing RFA of varicose veins. Methods: Eligible patients treated with RFA were recruited and randomized to either application of TAP with lidocaine-prilocaine cream (EMLA) or water-based cream (placebo). The primary outcome was patient described pain scores on the visual analogue scale (VAS) at different time points during the procedure. Secondary outcomes were technical success rate, complications, satisfaction level, expense, and extra analgesia use. Results: Sixty-two patients were randomized: 32 to EMLA and 30 to placebo. Both groups had comparable baseline demographics, CEAP classification, and Venous Clinical Severity Score (VCSS). Less tumescent anesthetic needle puncture pain was found in the EMLA group (22 ± 7 vs 42 ± 8, p <.01). Pain scores of other time points were equivalent. There was less pain in EMLA pretreated area compared to non-pretreated area in the same patient during needle puncture (22 ± 7 vs 45 ± 7, p <.01), and similar phenomena did not appear in the placebo group. There was no statistical difference in complications, satisfaction level, expense, and technical success between the two groups. And no extra analgesia was used in all patients. Background: Cinnamomum longepaniculatum (Gamble) N. Chao ex H. W. Li, whose leaves produce essential oils, is a traditional Chinese medicine and economically important tree species. In our study, two C. longepaniculatum varieties that have significantly different essential oil contents and leaf phenotypes were selected as the materials to investigate secondary metabolism. Result: The essential oil content and leaf phenotypes were different between the two varieties. When the results of both transcriptome and metabolomic analyses were combined, it was found that the differences were related to phenylalanine metabolic pathways, particularly the metabolism of flavonoids and terpenoids. The transcriptome results based on KEGG pathway enrichment analysis showed that pathways involving phenylpropanoids, tryptophan biosynthesis and terpenoids significantly differed between the two varieties; 11 DEGs (2 upregulated and 9 downregulated) were associated with the biosynthesis of other secondary metabolites, and 12 DEGs (2 upregulated and 10 downregulated) were related to the metabolism of terpenoids and polyketides. Through further analysis of the leaves, we detected 196 metabolites in C. longepaniculatum. The abundance of 49 (26 downregulated and 23 upregulated) metabolites differed between the two varieties, which is likely related to the differences in the accumulation of these metabolites. We identified 12 flavonoids, 8 terpenoids and 8 alkaloids and identified 4 kinds of PMFs from the leaves of C. longepaniculatum. Conclusions: The combined results of transcriptome and metabolomic analyses revealed a strong correlation between metabolite contents and gene expression. We speculate that light leads to differences in the secondary metabolism and phenotypes of leaves of different varieties of C. longepaniculatum. The amphiphilic polymer has excellent performance and is expected to replace traditional polymer oil-displacing agent in China. In this study, the iso-viscosity method evaluates the oil displacement performance of the betaine-type amphiphilic polymers with different content of hydrophobic groups in high salinity reservoirs. Rheometer, emulsion stability analyzer, laser particle size analyzer, and visualization of microscopic displacement are used to explore their oil displacement mechanism. The results show that the content of hydrophobic groups, and the recovery ratio of polymer flooding shows a positive correlation. The difference in the displacement performance reflects the difference in the viscoelasticity of the displacement system and the ability to emulsify crude oil. The synergistic effect of the two aspects further improves the oil washing efficiency. This study provides a reference for the practical application of the amphiphilic polymer, providing a theoretical basis to select polymer flooding agents in high salinity reservoirs. To evaluate the association between thyroid hormones (TH) and metabolic syndrome (MS) in postmenopausal women (PmW), a cross-sectional study was conducted with a sample of 1000 participants of PmW (40–65 years). Thyroid stimulating hormone (TSH) and free thyroxine (fT4) were evaluated. The MS was defined using the International Diabetes Federation (IDF) ethnicity-specific definitions for Asian. Participants were classified into three groups according to the TSH reference range: high-TSH (≥4.2 mU/L), low-TSH (<0.1mU/L), and normal-TSH (0.1–4.2 mU/L) group. Serum triglycerides (TG) levels were higher in low-TSH group and high-TSH group compared with normal-TSH group (p <.05). The whole sample was stratified into <60 and ≥60 years subgroups. In the ≥60 years group, fT4 was negatively correlated with waist circumference (WC) (p =.028) and positively correlated with fasting blood glucose (FBG) (p =.043), meanwhile TSH was positively correlated with WC only in the control subjects (p =.014). No difference was found between TH and the number of MS components. A general and selective method is developed that allows difunctionalization of terminal alkynes by a Cu(iii)–CF3 complex and a carboxylic acid regioselectively and with unusual syn-stereochemistry. This method is broadly applicable to various carboxylic acids and terminal alkynes, producing a range of biologically active trifluoromethyl enol carboxylic esters. The purpose of the experiment was to study the quality of mixed strong aroma distiller's grains and forage rapeseed silage, to determine the optimal addition ratio of strong aroma distiller's grains in forage rapeseed silage. Forage oilseed rape harvested by cutting at the end of flowering period was used as experimental material for silage. Four groups were set up, namely group R (without distillers' grains), group RS-10 (with 10% distillers' grains), group RS-20 (with 20% distillers' grains) and group RS-30 (with 30% distillers' grains). The silage quality was evaluated for 60 d. The results showed that the fermentation quality of forage rapeseed silage was good in all groups, and the sensory evaluation of mixed silage in group RS-10 and group RS-20 was excellent. The CP of distiller's grains supplementation group was significantly higher than that of group R (P<0.05), the content of ADF, Fe and Cu in silage of group RS-20 and group RS-30 were significantly lower than those of group R and group RS-10 (P<0.05), and the pH value of distiller's grains supplementation group was significantly lower than that of group R (P<0.05). The levels of NH3/N and AA in group RS-20 were significantly lower than those in other experimental groups (P<0.05). No butyric acid was detected in silage in all experimental groups. The order of RFV, RFQ and GI2001 was group RS-20 > group RS-30 > group RS-10 > group R. The study indicates that adding strong aroma distiller's grains can improve the silage quality of forage rape, and the fermentation quality of forage rape is better when adding 20% distillers grains. The classical Rayleigh–Taylor instability (RTI) at the interface between two variable density fluids in the cylindrical geometry is explicitly investigated by the formal perturbation method up to the second order. Two styles of RTI, convergent (i.e., gravity pointing inward) and divergent (i.e., gravity pointing outwards) configurations, compared with RTI in Cartesian geometry, are taken into account. Our explicit results show that the interface function in the cylindrical geometry consists of two parts: oscillatory part similar to the result of the Cartesian geometry, and non-oscillatory one contributing nothing to the result of the Cartesian geometry. The velocity resulting only from the non-oscillatory term is followed with interest in this paper. It is found that both the convergent and the divergent configurations have the same zeroth-order velocity, whose magnitude increases with the Atwood number, while decreases with the initial radius of the interface or mode number. The nonlinear saturation amplitude (NSA) of the fundamental mode in the classical Rayleigh—Taylor instability with a cylindrical geometry for an arbitrary Atwood number is analytically investigated by considering the nonlinear corrections up to the third order. The analytic results indicate that the effects of the initial radius of the interface (r0) and the Atwood number (A) play an important role in the NSA of the fundamental mode. The NSA of the fundamental mode first increases gently and then decreases quickly with increasing A. For a given A, the smaller the r0/λ (λ is the perturbation wavelength), the larger the NSA of the fundamental mode. When r0/λ is large enough (r0 ≫ λ), the NSA of the fundamental mode is reduced to the prediction in the previous literatures within the framework of the third-order perturbation theory. Cu(iii) trifluoromethyl complexes are proposed as essential intermediates for many copper-promoted trifluoromethylation reactions, but remain elusive and scarcely explored. We report herein the isolation and spectroscopic and X-ray crystallographic characterization of diverse CuIII–CF3 complexes (6–10) with varied coordinating motifs (mono-, bi- or tridentate) and formal charges (neutral or monoanionic) for the ligand L (L is pyridine, 2,4,6-trimethylpyridine, quinol-8-yloxide or 2,6-bis(2′-pyridyl)pyridine). Square planar complexes 6, 7 and 9 show rapid dynamic behavior in solution possibly due to the weak Cu–CF3 bonds that can quickly dissociate and recombine with the CF3 radical. In contrast, 10, with octahedral geometry, is more rigid. Reactivity studies show that except for ion-pair complex 8, they are highly reactive for the trifluoromethylation of arylboronic acids and the C–H bond of terminal alkynes. Furthermore, syn-fluoro- and -oxy-trifluoromethylation across the triple bond of alkynes can be achieved using 6 and CsF or NaOPh. These results greatly expand the scope of isolated and well-characterized Cu(iii)–CF3 complexes, and establish their versatile reactivity that may be widely involved in copper-mediated trifluoromethylation reactions, thus substantiating the essential yet undeveloped aspects of trifluoromethylation chemistry. Background: Prostate cancer (PCa) is the leading cause of death in men and has poor therapeutic outcomes. Methods: A novel endostatin 33 peptide was synthesized by adding a specific QRD sequence on the basis of the endostatin 30 peptide (PEP06) with antitumor activity. Then, bioinformatic analysis and subsequent experiments were performed to validate the antitumor function of this endostatin 33 peptide. Results: We found that the 33 polypeptides significantly inhibited growth, invasion and metastasis and promoted the apoptosis of PCa in vivo or vitro, which is more significant than PEP06 under the same conditions. According to 489 cases from the TCGA data portal, the α6β1 high expression group was closely associated with the poor prognosis (Gleason score, pathological N stage, etc.) of PCa and was mainly enriched in the PI3K-Akt pathway. Subsequently, we demonstrated that endostatin 33 peptide can down-regulate the PI3K-Akt pathway via the targeted inhibition of α6β1, thereby inhibiting the epithelial–mesenchymal transition and matrix metalloproteinase in C42 cell lines. Conclusion: The endostatin 33 peptide can exert antitumor effects by inhibiting the PI3K-Akt pathway, especially in tumors with a high expression of the integrin α6β1 subtype, such as prostate cancer. Background: According to the pathoanatomic classification system, progressive hemorrhagic injury (PHI) can be categorized into progressive intraparenchymal contusion or hematoma (pIPCH), epidural hematoma (pEDH), subdural hematoma (pSDH), and traumatic subarachnoid hemorrhage (ptSAH). The clinical features of each type differ greatly. The objective of this study was to determine the predictors, clinical management, and outcomes of PHI according to this classification. Methods: Multivariate logistic regression analysis was used to identify independent risk factors for PHI and each subgroup. Patients with IPCH or EDH were selected for subgroup propensity score matching (PSM) to exclude confounding factors before evaluating the association of hematoma progression with the outcomes by classification. Results: In the present cohort of 419 patients, 123 (29.4%) demonstrated PHI by serial CT scan. Of them, progressive ICPH (58.5%) was the most common type, followed by pEDH (28.5%), pSDH (9.8%), and ptSAH (3.2%). Old age (≥ 60 years), lower motor Glasgow Coma Scale score, larger primary lesion volume, and higher level of D-dimer were independent risk factors related to PHI. These factors were also independent predictors for pIPCH, but not for pEDH. The time to first CT scan and presence of skull linear fracture were robust risk factors for pEDH. After PSM, the 6-month mortality and unfavorable survival rates were significantly higher in the pIPCH group than the non-pIPCH group (24.2% vs. 1.8% and 12.1% vs. 7.3%, respectively, p < 0.001), but not significantly different between the pEDH group and the non-pEDH group. Conclusions: Understanding the specific patterns of PHI according to its classification can help early recognition and suggest targeted prevention or treatment strategies to improve patients' neurological outcomes. • POM microfiber (PMF) and its membrane (PMFM) possessed outstanding hydrophobicity and lipophilicity. • PMF can absorb oil spontaneously in oil–water mixture to form an aggregation. • PMF has excellent chemical stability for various oils and organic solvents. • PMF has recyclability and maintains excellent hydrophobicity and lipophilicity. • PMF can be constructed to self-standing continuous oil–water separation cup with deformability. With the rapid development of marine transportation, frequent oil leakage will inevitably occur. Therefore, oil–water separation had become an important research topic. The polyoxymethylene (POM) microfiber is a potential oil–water separation material with very good chemical stability, hydrophobicity, and lipophilicity, as well as unique microfiber recyclability and deformability. In this paper, the POM microfiber (PMF) was prepared using a method inspired by natural bamboo cellulose. PMF can be directly used for oil adsorption with a maximum of 19.5 times of oil adsorption capacity (OAC). The water contact angle (WCA) in oil of POM microfiber membrane (PMFM) can reach 160° and the oil–water separation efficiency was more than 99%. In addition, the recyclability allowed the PMF to repeatedly separate the oil–water mixture, and the deformability ensured that it can be used in various oil–water separation situations with different shapes. Moreover, only deionized water was used in the top-bottom preparation strategy of PMF without any chemical reagents.
