Bacterial adsorption on mineral surface is one of the key steps in bioleaching process. The bacteria adsorb on the mineral surface via the extracellular polymeric substances (EPS) layer. In this paper, the behavior of glucuronic acid, one of the key substances in EPS layer, adsorbed on the pyrite surface is studied using DFT and electrochemical methods. A dsorption capacity of glucuronic acid is stronger than that of water. G lucuronic acid adsorbs on pyrite surfaces and it follows a mixed type of interactions (physisorption and chemisorption). Adsorption of glucuronic acid on pyrite surface followed Langmuir's adsorption isotherm with adsorption standard free energy of -27.67kJ mol-1. Abstract Post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) is a serious psychiatric disorder. Estazolam has been shown to produce anxiolytic-, hypnotic-, amnestic-, and sedative-like effects. However, few studies are concerned about its anti-PTSD-like effects. The anti-PTSD-like effects of estazolam were evaluated by single prolonged stress animal model. After exposure to single prolonged stress, rats (Sprague-Dawley, male, 8 weeks) were administered by estazolam (0.5, 1 and 2 mg/kg, i.p.) from day 2 to 13 once daily. The behavioral assessments were performed during treatment with drugs. After the behavioral evaluation, the role of allopregnanolone in the anti-PTSD-like effects of estazolam was also evaluated via astrocyte cells and brain tissues (e.g. prefrontal cortex, hippocampus, and amygdala). The PTSD-like behavioral deficits were significantly blocked by estazolam (1 and 2 mg/kg, i.p.) without affecting locomotor activity. Consistently, the levels on allopregnanolone were increased by estazolam (1 and 2 mg/kg, i.p.) in prefrontal cortex, hippocampus, and amygdala. The levels of allopregnanolone were increased by sertraline (1 µmoL/L) and estazolam (4 µmoL/L), while the effects were antagonized by trilostane (1 µmoL/L) and finasteride (1 µmoL/L) in astrocyte cells, respectively. Collectively, the anxiety-like behavior deficits were ameliorated by estazolam in the single prolonged stress animal model that was associated with biosynthesis of allopregnanolone. Honey bees are typical model organisms for the study of caste differentiation, and the juvenile hormone (JH) is a crucial link in the regulatory network of caste differentiation in honey bees. To investigate the mechanism of JH-mediated caste differentiation, we analyzed the effect of the JH response gene AmKr-h1 on this process. We observed that AmKr-h1 expression levels were significantly higher in queen larvae than in worker larvae at the 48 h, 84 h, and 120 h larval stages, and were regulated by JH. Inhibiting AmKr-h1 expression in honey bee larvae using RNAi could lead to the development of larvae toward workers. We also analyzed the transcriptome changes in honey bee larvae after AmKr-h1 RNAi and identified 191 differentially expressed genes (DEGs) and 682 differentially expressed alternative splicing events (DEASEs); of these, many were related to honey bee caste differentiation. Background: Cytochrome P450 aromatase (encoded by the CYP19A1/aromatase gene) plays a critical physiologic role in endometriosis. Metformin is known to suppress prostaglandin E2 (PGE2)-induced CYP19A1 messenger RNA (mRNA) expression in human endometriotic stromal cells (ESCs). However, the possible mechanism behind this suppression remains to be determined. Methods: In this study, ESCs were cultured with metformin, PGE2, and adenosine monophosphate (AMP)-activated protein kinase (AMPK) inhibitors. Expression of CYP19A1 mRNA and aromatase activity were measured by quantitative polymerase chain reaction and aromatase activity assay, respectively. The binding of the cyclic AMP response element-binding (CREB) protein to CYP19A1 promoter II (PII) was assessed by chromatin immunoprecipitation assay. Results: We demonstrated that metformin downregulated the expression of aromatase mRNA (32%) and activity (25%) stimulated by PGE2 (4.18-fold and 2.14-fold) in ESCs via stimulation of AMPK. Following PGE2 treatment, there was a marked increase in CREB binding to aromatase PII, while metformin attenuated the above-mentioned stimulation by 67%. Conclusion: Metformin could inhibit PGE2-induced CYP19A1 mRNA expression and aromatase activity via AMPK activation and inhibition of CREB to CYP19A1 PII in human ESCs. Background/Aims: To determine whether the revised American Fertility Society (rAFS) classification and endometriosis fertility index (EFI) predict pregnancy rates (PRs) in patients with surgically confirmed endometriosis attempting natural conception. Methods: We retrospectively assessed 194 women with endometriosis who underwent laparoscopic surgery; 161 women completed the follow-up. Pregnancy outcomes, rAFS stages and EFI scores were documented. Cumulative PRs were compared using Kaplan-Meier survival analysis. Results: The cumulative PR 36 months after surgery was 46.6% (stage I, 53.6%; stage II, 36.0%; stage III, 51.7%, and stage IV, 41.7%; log-rank test, χ2 = 4.143, p = 0.246). In the 1st year, PRs significantly differed between patients with rAFS stage IV and those with stages I-III (Pearson's χ2 test, χ2 = 6.024, p = 0.014). Significant differences in cumulative PRs were observed among EFI scores (group 1, EFI score 0-3, 8.3%; group 2, EFI score 4-7 41.2%, and group 3, EFI score 8-10 60.9%; log-rank test, χ2 = 16.254, p < 0.001). Conclusions: EFI scores, but not rAFS stage, predict PRs in patients with endometriosis-associated infertility. EFI scores may be used to guide postoperative treatment. © 2014 S. Abstract: A novel modified POM (im)2·2H2O (im=imidazole) (1) has been hydrothermally synthesized from the system Sb2O3–H3PMo12O40–H2C2O4–im and characterized by elemental analysis, IR, UV–Vis, XPS, TGA and single crystal X-ray diffraction. The highly reduced polyoxoanion represents the first example of bi-antimony capped α-Keggin phosphomolybdate, in which the Sb atoms exhibit novel Ψ-rhombic pyramidal {SbO4E} hemidirected coordination geometry with coordination number 4. Two new polyoxometalates [HN(C2H5)3]3[PMo12O40] (1) and [NH2(C2H4NH3)2]2[Mo5P2O23] (2) have been hydrothermally synthesized and characterized by IR, UV-Vis, XPS spectra, TG analyses, and single crystal X-ray diffraction. Crystal data for 1: monoclinic, space group C2/c, a = 24.651(5) Å, b = 10.822(2) Å, c = 22.413(5) Å, β = 120.37(3)°, and V = 5158.7(18) Å3; for 2: triclinic, space group P-1, a = 9.821(2) Å, b = 9.948(2) Å, c = 14.687(3) Å, α = 95.490(3)°, β = 98.870(3)°, γ = 95.710(3)°, and V = 1401.7(5) Å3. Abstract: A novel polyoxometalate [Cu(phen)2]3{PW4 VIW5 VV3 IVO40(VIVO)3[Cu(en)2]}⋅4H2O 1 (en=ethylenediamine, phen=1,10-phenanthroline) has been synthesized hydrothermally and characterized by elemental analysis, IR, XPS, TG, EPR and single-crystal X-ray diffraction analysis. The crystal structure analysis shows that compound 1 contains a novel highly reduced tri-capped and mono-supported pseudo-Keggin-type heteropolyanion, {PW4 VIW5 VV3 IVO40(VIVO)3[Cu(en)2]}6−, three [Cu(phen)2]2+ cations and four lattice water molecules. They are further linked to form three-dimensional supramolecular networks through extensive hydrogen bonding and π–π stacking interactions. Interestingly, the water dimer and terminal oxygen of the cluster polyanion constitute a beautiful supramolecular helix chain. The heteropolyanion is the first example of tri-capped and mono-supported pseudo-Keggin-type tungstovanadophosphate and the pH value is crucial for obtaining compound 1 in synthetic procedure. Abstract: The first organic–inorganic hybrid tin (II) chlorosulfate [C6N2H14][SnCl2SO4] (I) has been synthesized hydrothermally in the presence of organic amine 1,4-diazobicyclo[2,2,2]octane (DABCO) and characterized by single-crystal X-ray diffraction, IR, ICP and elemental analysis and thermogravimetric analysis and its structure solved by single-crystal X-ray diffraction. The structure of I consists of [SnCl2SO4]2− anions and diprotonated DABCO cations resulting in the formation of a 2D supramolecular network based on hydrogen bonds which contact between diprotonated DABCO cations and [SnCl2SO4]2− anions. Abstract: Two new nickel(II) phosphonates (H4PMIDA= N-(phosphonomethyl)iminodiacetic acid, H4L), one-dimensional zigzag chain (NH4)2[Ni(PMIDA)(H2O)] (1) and tetramer (H3O)8[Ni4O2(HPMIDA)4(H2O)2] (2), have been solvothermally synthesized and characterized by elemental analyses, IR, TGA and X-ray single-crystal diffraction, and their magnetic and fluorescent properties are also reported. Compound 1 is the first chain phosphonate linked by carboxyl group in anti–anti mode based on Ni(II) and H4PMIDA ligand, and compound 2 with tetranuclear units is the first example of showing the spin-canting antiferromagnetic coupling between Ni(II) centers. In this paper, the galvanic effect of pyrite and arsenopyrite during the leaching pretreatment of gold ores was determined with the use of electrochemical testing (open circuit potential, linear sweep voltammetry, Tafel, and electrochemical impedance spectroscopy (EIS)) and frontier orbit calculations. The results show that (i) the linear sweep voltammetry curve and Tafel curve of the galvanic pair are similar to those of arsenopyrite, (ii) the corrosion behavior of the galvanic pair is consistent with that of arsenopyrite, and (iii) the galvanic effect promotes the corrosion of arsenopyrite by simultaneously increasing the cathode and anode currents and reducing oxidation resistance. The title compound, C13H7N5O3·C2H6O, was synthesized by the reaction of 2-cyanoacetamide, malononitrile and 3-nitrobenzaldehyde in water. The asymmetric unit contains two crystallographically independent 6-amino-4-(3-nitrophenyl)-2-oxo-1,2-dihydropyridine-3,5-dicarbonitrile molecules of similar conformation and two ethanol solvent molecules. The nitro group of one molecule is disordered over two positions with site-occupation factors of 0.688 (17) and 0.312 (17). The dihedral angles between the pyridine and benzene rings are 52.06 (11) and 65.12 (13)° in the two molecules. Three novel heteropolyanions [PMo12Sb2O40][Cu(enMe)2]·4H2O (1), [PMo12Sb2O40][Ni(enMe)2]·4H2O (2) and [PMo12Sb2O40][Cu(en)2]·H3O·H2O (3) (enMe = 1,2-diaminopropane, en = ethylene diamine) have been synthesized and characterized by IR spectroscopy, X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS), thermogravimetric analyses and elemental analyses. Single-crystal X-ray diffraction analyses reveal that these three compounds represent the first examples of compounds based on the novel polyoxoanion {PMo12Sb2O40} and different transition metal coordination complexes. 1and 2are isostructural and both exhibit novel 1-D structures. In contrast to 1and 2, 3exhibits a substantially distinct novel 1-D structure. A polyoxometalate [Co(phen)3][Co(en)3][Co(en)2(H2O)2][Co(en)2]0.5[ [image omitted]O40(VIVO)2] · 6H2O (1) (en = ethylenediamine, phen = 1,10-phenanthroline) has been hydrothermally synthesized and structurally characterized by single-crystal X-ray diffraction, IR, electron paramagnetic resonance, X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy, elemental analyses, and thermogravimetry. The structure is an interesting 3-D supramolecular network containing bi-capped Keggin-type molybdenum-vanadium clusters with transition metal complexes generated in situ under mild hydrothermal conditions. Compound 1 contains four different counteractions being coordinated complexes of cobalt. The magnetic properties of 1 have also been studied in the temperature range of 4-300 K, and its magnetic susceptibility obeys the Curie-Weiss law, showing ferromagnetic coupling. Abstract: By the simple hydro/solvothermal reaction, two new 3-D metal–halo cluster polymers, [NiCl2(pip)] (pip=piperazine) (1) and [Cu2I2(pip)] (2) were obtained and characterized by IR spectroscopy, CHN analysis and TG analysis. Single-crystal X-ray analysis reveals that, the 3-D network of compounds 1 and 2 are constructed from the 1-D zigzag NiCl2 chains and the 1-D castellated Cu2I2 chains bridged by pip molecules respectively. The μeff versus T curve indicates that compound 1 is ferromagnetic when T >14K. The photoluminscent spectrum shows that compound 2 possesses the fluorescent property with a broad emission peak at 567nm upon excision at 397nm. [Copyright &y& Elsevier]

Abstract: Two new molybdenum–vanadium polyoxometalate tri-supported transition metal complexes [Cu(2,2′-bipy)] [Cu(2,2′-bipy)2]2[PMo8V6O42]·nH2O (n =1.5 (1) and n =2 (2); 2,2′-bipy=2,2′-bipyridine) have been hydrothermally synthesized and characterized by elemental analyses, IR, XPS and single-crystal X-ray diffraction analyses. Both compound 1 and compound 2 contain molybdenum–vanadium polyoxometalates, each of which support one [Cu(2,2′-bipy)]2+ cation and two [Cu(2,2′-bipy)2]2+ cations, respectively. The difference between compound 1 and compound 2 is that the polyoxoanion of 1 is a bi-capped α-Keggin cluster and that of 2 is a bi-capped pseudo-Keggin one. Abstract: A new polyoxomolybdates supramolecular architecture with nicotinic acid ligands, (Himi)4[(nic-O)2(Mo8O26)] (1) (imi=imidazole, nic-O=nicotinic acid), has been prepared by hydrothermal synthesis and characterized by single crystal X-ray diffraction, IR, XPS spectra, and thermogravimetric analysis. The structure of 1 consists of nicotinic acid-coordinated γ-{Mo8O26}4− anions and protonated imidazole cations resulting in the formation of a 3D framework based on hydrogen bonding contacts between protonated imidazole cations and [(nic-O)2Mo8O26]4− anions. Two novel coordination compounds, [Zn(Hbimh) (H 2 O)]·H 2 O ( 1 ) and [Zn(Hbimh)]·(4,4ʹ-bpy) 0.5 ( 2 ) (H 3 bimh = benzimidazole-5,6-hydrazide, 4,4ʹ-bpy = 4,4ʹ-bipyridine), have been prepared from the hydrothermal in situ amidation cyclization reactions of H 3 bimdc (H 3 bimdc = benzimidazole-5,6-dicarboxylic acid) and hydrazine hydrate (N 2 H 4 ·H 2 O). Compound 1 exhibits a one-dimensional (1D) hexagon channel structure. Compound 2 is a three-dimensional (3D) framework structure, with 4,4ʹ-bpy fill the channels. We also obtained the ligand H 3 bimh. The compounds were characterized by IR, PXRD, TGA and elemental analysis. Three new supramolecular compounds, [Cu( o -HPIDC)(bpy)(H 2 O)]·2H 2 O 1 , [Cu( o -H 2 PIDC)(phen)Cl]·[Cu(phen) 2 Cl]·10H 2 O·Cl 2 and {[Cd( o -H 2 PIDC)(H 2 O) 2 Cl]·H 2 O} 2 3 ( o -H 3 PIDC = 2-(pyridine-2-yl)-1H-imidazole-4,5-dicarboxylic acid, bpy = 2,2'-bipyridine, phen = 1,10-phenanthroline), were hydrothermally synthesized and characterized. In compound 1 , the adjacent two supramolecular layers are constructed from different types of helical chains with the same pitch. In compound 2 , the adjacent 2D water-chloride layers, {[(H 2 O) 10 Cl] − } n , are pillared by [Cu( o -H 2 PIDC)(phen)Cl] units to form the overall 3D supramolecular network with 1D channels through O H⋯O hydrogen bond interactions. In compound 3 , two Cd(II) are linked into a binuclear [Cd 2 ( o -H 2 PIDC) 2 (H 2 O) 4 Cl 2 ] with a ten-membered ring by two o -H 2 PIDC − ligands. The three compounds self-assemble into 3D supramolecular structures via hydrogen bond and π-π stacking interactions. The fluorescence properties of compound 3 was also investigated. The hydro(solvo)thermal reactions of CuI with diverse bisimidazole molecules were investigated, affording five new copper(I) iodides [Cu 4 I 4 (L1) 2 ] (L1=1,3-bis(2-methylimidazol-1-ylmethyl)benzene) 1 , [CuI(L2)] (L2=4,4′-bis(imidazolyl)biphenyl) 2 , [Cu 4 I 4 (L3)] (L3=1,3-bis(2-methylimidazol-1-yl)propane) 3 , [Cu 4 I 4 (L4) 2 ] (L4=1,4-bis(2-ethylimidazol-1-yl)butane) 4, and [Cu 4 I 4 (L5)] (L5=1,4-bis(1-imidazoly)benzene) 5 . X-ray single-crystal diffraction analysis reveals that (i) in 1 , a tetranuclear Cu-I cluster (stepped cubane) is observed, and the L1 molecule only acts as an ancillary ligand; (ii) in 2 , the L2 molecules extend the castellated Cu-I chains into a 2-D layer network with a certain thickness; (iii) in 2-D single-layer network of 3 , a 1-D Cu-I column is found, which can be viewed as a longitudinal packing of stepped Cu 4 I 4 cubanes; (vi) in 4 , the L4 molecules propagate the cubic Cu 4 I 4 cubanes into a 3-D 4-fold interpenetrated network with a cds topology; and (v) in 5 , the L5 molecules link the 1-D Cu-I ribbons into a 2-D single-layer network. The photoluminescence analysis indicates that 1 , 2 and 4 emit light (red light for 1 ; yellow light for 2 and 4 ), while 3 and 5 are not emissive. Based on an aim of introducing the SCN − or SO 4 2 − group into the organically templated chlorocadmates, a series of room-temperature reactions at pH 2 were performed, creating four new Cd(II) hybrids as [L1] 4 [Cd 4 Cl 6 (SCN) 10 (H 2 O) 2 ] (L1 = 1,1′-dibenzyl-4,4′-bipyridium) 1 , [H 4 L2][CdCl 4 (SCN) 2 ] (L2 = 1,4-bis(4-pyridylmethyl)piperazine) 2 , [HL3] 3 [CdCl 3 ]SO 4 (L3 = 2-amino-6-chloropyridine) 3 , and [HL4] 3 [CdCl 3 ]SO 4 (L4 = 2-amino-6-bromopyridine) 4 . X-ray single-crystal diffraction analysis reveals that (i) templated by L1 2+ , 1 shows a 1-D single-chain structure, which is based on the dinuclear [Cd 2 Cl 3 (SCN) 4 (H 2 O)] 3 − clusters by the μ-1,3-mode SCN − groups; (ii) templated by H 4 L2 4+ , 2 only exhibits a mononuclear structure. However, via the intermolecular weak N pyridine H⋯Cl, N piperazine H⋯Cl and S SCN ⋯S SCN interactions, 2 self-assembles into a 3-D supramolecular network with a (4,6)-connected topology; (iii) 3 and 4 possess the similar structures. Via the N pyridine/amino H⋯O and π⋯π interactions, the introduced SO 4 2 − groups and the organic base molecules aggregate together into a 3-D supramolecular network with the 1-D channels. Within the channel, the Cl − ions triplely bridge the Cd 2+ centers into a 1-D linear [CdCl 3 ] − chain. Based on the structural information and the previous related reports, the role of the introduced SCN − or SO 4 2− group in the hybrid is revealed. SCN − acts as two roles: (i) a linker; (ii) a cutter. Sometimes SO 4 2− serves as a linker, while sometimes SO 4 2− connects with organic base into a supramolecular aggregation, acting as a new templating agent. The photoluminescence analysis reveals that 2 , 3 and 4 emit light with the maxima at 535 nm for 2 ( λ ex = 465 nm), 462 nm for 3 ( λ ex = 428 nm), and 465 nm for 4 ( λ ex = 430 nm), respectively. Three new compounds based on arsenic–vanadium clusters {[Cu(im) 2 ] 4 [H 2 As 8 V 14 O 42 (SO 4 )]}·H 2 O ( 1 ) and [Cu(phen)(im)] 3 [Cu(phen) 2 ][As 8 V 14 O 42 (H 2 O)] ( 2 , 3 ) (im = imidazole, phen = phenanthroline) have been synthesized and characterized by IR, UV–Vis, XRD, TG analysis, elemental analysis, single-crystal X-ray diffraction analysis and catalytic properties. Crystal analysis reveals that compound 1 shows an unprecedented 3-D twofold interpenetrating network structure with each of the two interpenetrating frameworks exhibiting a novel diamondoid framework structure based on POMs and transition metal complexes. Compounds 2 and 3 are based on identical polyanions and identical transition metal complexes. However, the two compounds are not isomorphous and isostructural with each other. That is to say, the two compounds have an identical chemical formula with different structures: the two are polymorphs of each other. The F-box protein family is a large family that is characterized by conserved F-box domains of approximately 40-50 amino acids in the N-terminus. F-box proteins participate in diverse cellular processes, such as development of floral organs, signal transduction and response to stress, primarily as a component of the Skp1-cullin-F-box (SCF) complex. In this study, using a global search of the apple genome, 517 F-box protein-encoding genes (F-box genes for short) were identified and further subdivided into 12 groups according to the characterization of known functional domains, which suggests the different potential functions or processes that they were involved in. Among these domains, the galactose oxidase domain was analyzed for the first time in plants, and this domain was present with or without the Kelch domain. The F-box genes were distributed in all 17 apple chromosomes with various densities and tended to form gene clusters. Spatial expression profile analysis revealed that F-box genes have organ-specific expression and are widely expressed in all organs. Proteins that contained the galactose oxidase domain were highly expressed in leaves, flowers and seeds. From a fruit ripening expression profile, 166 F-box genes were identified. The expressions of most of these genes changed little during maturation, but five of them increased significantly. Using qRT-PCR to examine the expression of F-box genes encoding proteins with domains related to stress, the results revealed that F-box proteins were up- or down-regulated, which suggests that F-box genes were involved in abiotic stress. Abstract: Four new supramolecular architectures based on Keggin polyoxometalates (POMs): [(HSiMo12O40)(H4,4′-bpy)2][(H4,4′-bpy)(H2O)2]·2H2O (1), [(HSiW12O40)(H4,4′-bpy)2][(H4,4′-bpy)(H2O)2]·2H2O (2), [(SiW12O40)(H4,4′-bpy)4]·(4,4′-bpy)·2H2O (3) and [H4SiW12O40](2,2′-bpy)4 (4) (bpy=bipyridine) have been prepared hydrothermally and characterized by IR, UV–Vis spectroscopy, X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS), powder XRD analyses, elemental analyses, fluorescence analysis and single crystal X-ray diffraction analyses. Both compounds 1 and 2 exhibit supramolecular 2D layer structures. Compound 3 exhibits a novel supramolecular double chain structure. Compound 4 contains a 1D chain structure with two 2,2′-bpy ligands as double bridges. Abstract: The first example of cadmium complex containing methyl orange [MO, (CH3)2NC6H4N=NC6H4SO3Na], formulated as [Cd(en)2(H2O)2](MO)2 1 (en=ethylenediamine) was synthesized hydrothermally and characterized by single-crystal X-ray diffraction, IR, XRD, elemental analysis and Raman spectroscopic analysis. Compound 1 display a two-dimensional supramolecular layer structure with ladder-like supramolecular chain by X-ray crystallographic analysis. Abstract: Two new zinc(II)–triazole–aliphatic dicarboxylate coordination polymers, [Zn(trz)(Hsuc)] n (1), [Zn2(trz)2(tar)] n (2), have been hydrothermally synthesized by reaction of Zn salt, Htrz with H2suc and H2tar, respectively (Htrz=1,2,4-triazole, H2suc=succinic acid, H2tar=tartaric acid). Their structures were determined by single-crystal X-ray diffraction analyses and further characterized by X-ray powder diffraction, elemental analyses, IR spectra and TG analyses. Compound 1 displays a 2D layer structure containing {[Zn4(trz)4]4+} n layers decorated by the suc ligand. Compound 2 is in a 3D structure formed by the interconnection of 2D {[Zn4(trz)4]4+} n layers with tar ligand, resulting a 3,4-connected topological network. Due to the different coordination mode and conformation of aliphatic carboxylate ligand, the similar 2D {[Zn4(trz)4]4+} n layers stack in the –AAA– fashion in 1, while the {[Zn4(trz)4]4+} n layers hold together in the –ABAB– stacking sequence in 2. Two supramolecular compounds [Fe(2,2'-bipy)3]2[ [image omitted](Cl)] · 4.67H2O (1) and [Ni(enMe)3]2[ [image omitted](Cl)] · 2H2O (2) have been prepared under hydrothermal conditions and characterized by elemental analyses, IR, TGA, ESR, magnetic properties, and single crystal X-ray diffraction analyses. Abstract: Two novel polyoxometalate derivatives, {X IVWVI 10WV 2O40[Cu(en)2(H2O)]3} [X=V (1), Si (2); en=ethylenediamine], have been hydrothermally synthesized and characterized by elemental analyses, IR, UV–Vis, XPS, EPR, TG and single crystal X-ray diffraction analyses. They represent the first classical Keggin polyoxoanion supported by three transition metal complex moieties, which further act as the neutral molecular unit for the construction of the interesting three-dimensional supramolecular frameworks. The magnetic properties of 1 have also been studied in the temperature range of 4–300K, and its magnetic susceptibility obeys the Curie–Weiss law, showing antiferromagnetic coupling. Crystal structure analyses reveal that compounds 1 and 2 exhibit novel 2D supramolecular layer structures constructed from tungsten–vanadium polyoxoanions and different types of secondary building units (SBUs), respectively, the different SBUs are formed by [Cu(2,2′-bipy)2H2O]2+ and [Cu(2,2′-bipy)3]2+ cations in compound 1 and [Cu4(2,2′-bipy)4(H2O)2(PO4)2]2+ cations in 2, respectively. Abstract: A novel 3-D metal–organic framework Nd(2,5-pydc)(nic)(H2O) (1, 2,5-pydc=pyridine-2,5-dicarboxylic acid, nic=nicotinic acid) has been hydrothermally synthesized and characterized by elemental analyses, IR, and X-ray single-crystal diffraction. Compound 1 is the first MOF based on mixed 2,5-pydc/nic ligands. The title compound displays an interseting 3-D (6,3)-connected network with the topology of (4.62)2(42 ×610 ×83). Cadmium phosphite, CdHPO3, was obtained by mild hydro­thermal synthesis. The construction of the three-dimensional framework structure may be viewed as an assembly of distorted CdO6 octa­hedra and HPO3 tetra­hedra which leads to the formation of channels along [001]. The crystal structure is isotypic with CdSO3-III and is a new example of the stereochemical equivalence of the P-bonded H atom in HPO32− and the electron lone pair in XO32− oxoanions ( X = SIV or SeIV). By hydrothermal method, a novel supramolecular compound, Co(NIA)2(H2O)4 was synthesized and its structure was characterized with elemental analysis, FT-IR spectrum, TGA and X-ray diffractometer, indicating that it is a novel polyporous supramolecule with molecular ladder hydrogen-bonded chains. The title compound [CuBr(IN)]n 1 was hydrothermally synthesized from a simple reaction of CuBr2–IN–KBr–NaOH–H2O. X-ray analysis revealed that it is a new example containing extended one-dimensional staircase chain in copper(I) halide family. Its structure can be better described as a three-dimensional supramolecular network assembled via a combination of coordinate–covalent bonds and intermolecular hydrogen bonds. Abstract: A new complex, [Pb2(H2O)2(HBTC)2]·3H2O (H3BTC=1,3,5-Benzenetricarboxylic acid) (1), has been synthesized under hydrothermal condition. The single-crystal analysis shows that 1 consists of 1-D double-chains with Pb(II) six-coordinated by three H3BTC and one H2O molecule with the Pb–O bond distances in the range of 2.56–2.76Å. When the Pb–O bonding limit extends from 2.76 to 2.90Å, the potential weak bonds of Pb–O can be found and the coordination number of Pb will increase from six to nine. As a result, the coordination geometry of Pb(II) transforms from hemidirected to holodirected and an infinite 3-D framework is obtained by the connection of the double-chains. Abstract: A novel 3D [La2(C2O4)2(NO3) (OH)(H2O)]·3H2O 1 has been synthesized under hydrothermal conditions and characterized by elemental analyses, IR, TGA, X-ray powder diffraction, X-ray single crystal diffraction and photoluminescence. The title complex, [Cu2(C23H14O6)2(C2H8N2)2(H2O)2], is composed of discrete centrosymmetric mol­ecular dimers, with each CuII atom in a slightly distorted square-pyramidal coordination geometry. The CuII atom is coordinated by two N atoms from an ethyl­enediamine mol­ecule, two O atoms from two pamoate ligands and one water O atom.
