Myxoinflammatory fibroblastic sarcoma (MIFS) is rare and malignant soft-tissue neoplasms that typically present in the extremities. In the literature, MIFS has been reported in the groin, back, neck, nose, and temporal regions in addition to the extremities. We report a case of MIFS presenting with the complaints of nasal bleeding, purulent nasal discharge, and swelling on the right side of his face. Polypoid tissues protruded from the middle meatus were observed and initial diagnosis was inverted papilloma. The painless tumor was initially mistaken for low-grade myxofibrosarcoma in biopsy. Maxillectomy was performed and made the rare diagnosis of MIFS. Fibroblastic proliferation with extensive local spread from subcutaneous tissue to the epithelium of the maxillary sinus mucosa, maxillary bone, and especially along the bone marrow was observed. To the best of our knowledge, this is the first reported case of MIFS involving the maxillary bone.

Sir, Paragangliomas are rare tumors originating from paraganglionic tissue that extends from the skull base to the pelvic diaphragm. Although they can be asymptomatic, they can also cause symptoms by secreting catecholamines or with local expansion. They can also be the component of many hereditary diseases. These tumors are reported in various rare localisations, which include lung parenchyma.1 The first primary pulmonary paraganglioma (PP) case was reported by Heppleston in 1958.2 The number of cases diagnosed till date is less than 50 in the English literature.

WOS:000424788200003 OBJECTIVE Dermatofibrosarcoma protuberans (DFSP) is a fibrohistiocytic tumor characterized by protuberant growth pattern of skin and subcutaneous tissue. The annual incidence is 4.2 per million. It is often seen between the ages of 20-50 years. This study aimed to evaluate the characteristics of patients with DFSP. METHODS Patients who visited our clinic were retrospectively evaluated. RESULTS All patients were females and the median age was 42 (29-60) years. The evaluated tumor sites were observed in the body/trunk in one patient, at the hip in two, and at the proximal lower extremity in two. Surgical excision was done in all of them as initial treatment. Re-excision was needed in three patients. One of the patients underwent punch biopsy for diagnosis and surgical removal of the tumor with a negative surgical margin. One of the patients underwent radiotherapy. The median follow-up time was 10 (6-26) months. During the median follow-up, there was no local recurrence or metastasis. CONCLUSION As initial treatment, it is important to surgically remove tumors that had no distant metastasis. Positive or near surgical margins should be resected again. If a negative surgical margin cannot be achieved, radiotherapy should be used as the treatment. Imatinib mesylate is used for treatment in unresectable, recurrent, and/or metastatic tumors.

Endotetyal iyileşme 24 saat içinde basladı ye incinmeden sonraki üçüncü ve dördüncü günlerde en hızlıydı. Endotelyal yıkım 5 gün içinde onarıldı. Bu tez çalışmasının amacı, meslek yüksek okulu öğrencilerinin programlama başarılarını etkileyen faktörleri ortaya çıkarmak ve öğrencilerin programlama başarıları ile demografik bilgileri (cinsiyet, mezun oldukları okul türü, programlamayla ilgili geçmiş deneyimleri, genel akademik not ortalamaları), problem çözme ve analitik düşünme becerisi, kişisel öz yeterlilik ve motivasyonları, öz düzenleyici öğrenme stratejileri (hedef belirleme, içsel hedef, dışsal hedef, öz yeterlilik, öz yansıma, değer verme, üst biliş) arasında anlamlı bir ilişki bulunup bulunmadığını incelemektir. Araştırmada ilişkisel tarama yöntemi kullanılmıştır. Araştırmanın bağımlı değişkeni öğrencilerin programlama dersindeki akademik başarısı; bağımsız değişkenleri ise demografik bilgiler, motivasyon, öz yeterlilik, öz düzenleyici öğrenme stratejileridir. The purpose of this study is to explore the factors that influence two-year vocational college students' achievement in computer programming and to examine whether a relationship exists between students' achievement in computer programming with demographic information (gender , the type of school that they have graduated from , past experience with programming , overall academic grade point averages) , problem-solving and analytical thinking skills , personal self-efficacy and motivation , self-regulated learning strategies , (goal setting , internal target , external target , self-efficacy , self-reflection , valuing , metacognition).Correlational method was utilized for this study . The dependent variable of the research is the academic achievement of students in a computer programming course. The independent variables are demographic information , motivation , self-efficacy , self-regulated learning strategies. Demographic information questionnaire , problem solving inventory , the scale of self-regulated learning strategies , general self-efficacy scale and programming achievement test were used as data collection instruments in the research .The research was conducted in two- year vocational college students of computer programming departments in Bozok University-Akdağmadeni two-year vocational college, Adnan Menderes University-Aydın two-year vocational college, Ahi Evran University- Kaman two-year vocational college.Results showed that a significant relationship exists between the student achievement in computer programming and gender, type of school , overall academic grade point averages , motivation, self-efficacy from self-regulated learning strategies. 23% of the total variance of the student achievement in computer programming can be explained by demographic characteristics , problem-solving and analytical thinking skills , personal self-efficacy , motivational variables and 18% can be explained by self-regulated learning strategies. 84

Objectives: In this study we evaluated the effects of montelukast, a leukotriene-receptor antagonist, on fracture healing, and investigated the hypothesis that enhanced fracture healing would be observed with montelukast in a rat tibia fracture model. Materials and methods: Sixty adult (6 months old) female Wistar albino rats (mean weight 220 g, range 210-270 g) were randomly divided into two groups: a montelukast group (n=30) and a control group (n=30). Closed tibia fractures were created and fixed by intramedullary Kirschner wire. The rats were sacrificed three and six weeks after the fractures. Radiological and histological evaluations were performed, and bone mineral density was measured. Results: Three rats died in the montelukast group, whereas only one died in the control group during the study. Initial weight and weight gain at the 3rd a nd 6 th weeks were not significantly different between the groups (p>0.05). Bone mineral densities in the control and study groups were 0.13±0.009 gr/cm2, and 0.13±0.01 gr/cm2 a t w eek t hree and 0.16±0.02 gr/cm2, and 0.13±0.01 gr/cm2 at week six, respectively. Histopathological scores in the control and study groups were 3.42±0.6, and 3.0±0.0 at week three and 3.5±0.5, and 3.4±0.8 at week six, respectively. Radiological scores in the control and study groups were 1.19±0.6, and 1.0±0.6 at week three and 3.0±0.8, and 2.9±0.9 at week six, respectively. There were no significant differences between the two groups in any parameters evaluated at either time interval (p>0.05). Conclusion: Our study failed to show a possible positive effect of leukotriene receptor inhibition on fracture healing at the 3rd and 6th postoperative weeks., Amaç: Bu çalışmada lökotrien reseptör antagonisti montelukastın kırık iyileşmesi üzerine olan etkileri incelendi ve sıçan tibia kırık modelinde montelukastla artmış kırık iyileşmesi görülebileceği hipotezi araştırıldı. Gereç ve yöntemler: Altmış erişkin (6 aylık) dişi Wistar albino cinsi sıçan (ortalama ağırlıkları 220 g, dağılım 210-270 g) rastgele şekilde iki gruba ayrıldı: montelukast grubu (n=30) ve kontrol grubu (n=30). Kapalı tibia kırığı oluşturuldu ve intramedüller Kirschner teliyle fikse edildi. Kırıktan üç ve altı hafta sonra sıçanlar sakrifiye edildi. Objectives. Assessment whether the differential expression of c-Kit, CD34, and S100 may be involved in the development of IHPS. Material and Methods. Specimens from 14 infants with IHPS and seven control subjects were immunohistochemically stained for c-Kit, CD34, and S100. The numbers of CD34(+), S100(+), and c-Kit(+) cells in five random fields per specimen were compared via light microscopy (x200). Results. In normal pyloric tissue, specific and intense c-Kit immunoreactivity was observed in the muscle layers and moderate staining was observed around the myenteric plexus. In IHPS patients, c-Kit+ cells were either absent or markedly reduced around the myenteric plexus. In control and IHPS patients, CD34(+) cells were not observed around the myenteric plexus. In the vascular endothelium, moderate CD34 staining was observed in specimens from control subjects, whereas intense staining was observed for IHPS patients. In normal pyloric tissue, moderate S100 immunoreactivity was observed in the muscle layers and intense staining was observed in the myenteric plexus. In IHPS patients, few S100(+) cells were observed in the pyloric muscle layers and S100 immunoreactivity decreased markedly around the myenteric plexus. Conclusions. These results suggest that the numbers of c-Kit(+) and S100(+) cells are markedly decreased in the pyloric muscle layers and around the myenteric plexus in IHPS patients. Thus a lack of c-Kit and S100, but not CD34, expression may be a critical factor in the pathogenesis of IHPS and may serve as a useful prognostic tool in the treatment of this disease (Adv Clin Exp Med 2009, 18, 1, 33-39).

Omental kistler klinik ve radyolojik olarak tanı konulması zor olan ve nadir görülen lezyonlardır. 49 yaşında histerektomi geçirmiş omental kist olgusunu sunmayı amaçladık. Ultrasonografi ve MRI sonucu batında saf kistik kitle olarak tesbit edildi. Kist cerrahi olarak eksize edildi ve patolojik tanı omental pseudokist idi., Omental cysts are rare abdominal lesions that are difficult to diagnose clinically and radiographically. We present here a case of omental cyst in a 49 years old hysterectomized women. USG and MRI showed pure cystic mass in the abdomen. The cyst was excised surgically and the final pathological diagnosis was an omental pseudocyst.

GİRİŞ VE AMAÇ: Bu çalışmada tümör tomurcuklanması ve tümörü infiltre eden lenfositlerin, prognostik faktörlere etkilerinin ortaya konması amaçlanmıştır. GEREÇ VE YÖNTEM: Sakarya Üniversitesi Eğitim ve Araştırma Hastanesi Tıbbi Patoloji Anabilim Dalı'nda intestinal tip mide adenokarsinom tanısı almış, 2010-2019 yılları arasında subtotal ya da total gastrektomi uygulanmış, preoperatif tedavi almamış 152 olgu belirlendi. Lymphangiomas are rare benign proliferations of the lymphatic system. Three types are generally acknowledged: circumscriptum (or capillary), cavernous, and cystic. We present a case of cavernous lymphangioma of the cervix in a 54-years-old female. A 54-years-old woman presented to the department of obstetrics and gynecology. For uterine myoma, she underwent total abdominal histerectomy and bilateral salpingo-oophorectomy. Operation material was sent to pathology department. Macroscopic evaluation revealed, cut surface of cervix was blackish and had many cavities. Microscopic examination showed cavernous lymphangioma; composed of cavernous lymphatic spaces which contain lymphatic fluid. Immunhistochemically, factor VIII, CD34, SMA, D2-40 were positive in lymphatic endothelium. Cavernous lymphangioma is a rare lesion in the cervix of females. To our knowledge, this is one of the few cases documented in literature. As our case, vascular lesions of cervix or another site of female genital tract can be detected coincidentally at histerectomy materials. Biz 54 yaşındaki kadında servikste kavernöz lenfanjioma olgusunu sunuyoruz. 54 yaşındaki kadın kadın hastalıkları ve doğum kliniğine başvurdu. Uterine myoma nedeniyle, total abdominal histerektomi ve bilateral salpingo- ooferektomi uygulandı. Ameliyat materyali patoloji bölümüne gönderildi. Makroskopik değerlendirmede, serviks kesit yüzeyinde çok sayıda siyahımsı renkte kavitasyonlar ortaya çıktı. Mikroskobik incelemede, lenfatik sıvı içeren kavernöz lenfatik alanlardan oluşan kavernöz lenfanjiom gözlendi. İmmünhistokimyasal olarak, faktör VIII, CD34, SMA, D2-40 lenfatik endotelinde pozitifti. Kavernöz lenfanjiyom, kadınlarda servikste görülmesi nadir bir lezyondur. Bizim olgumuzda olduğu gibi, serviks ya da kadın genital sistemde başka bir bölgenin vasküler lezyonları histerektomi materyallerinde tesadüfen tespit edilebilir.

Thirty male rats were randomly divided into three groups as follows: (1) Group 1 (Sham-control), ureters of the rats were manipulated but not ligated; (2) Group 2 (PUUO-untreated), PUUO was performed with two-thirds of the left ureter embedded in the psoas muscle; and (3) Group 3 (PUUO-nicorandil treated). After PUUO was established, nicorandil (15 mg/kg/day) was administered by gastric lavage for 21 days to determine its effects on PUUO-induced histopathological-, functional-, and oxidative stress-induced changes. The serum levels of blood urea nitrogen and creatinine were reduced in Group 3. The level of urinary albumin and the ratio of urinary protein/creatinine were increased in the kidneys of Group 2 but decreased in Group 3. Malondialdehyde value was decreased in Group 3 compared with Group 2. Antioxidant enzyme activities (catalase, superoxide dismutase, and glutathione peroxidase) were decreased in Group 2. Nicorandil treatment caused an increase in these enzyme activities. In Group 3, leukocyte infiltration and tubular dilatation were significantly reduced. Other parameters, such as degeneration of tubular epithelium and fibrosis, also showed a marked improvement in Group 3. Expression of inducible nitric oxide synthase in Group 2 and expression of endothelial nitric oxide synthase in Group 3 were significantly elevated. Nicorandil can inhibit renal tubular damage and tubulointerstitial fibrosis by reducing the effects of oxidative stress after PUUO. Copyright (C) 2017, Kaohsiung Medical University. Renal hücreli karsinom tüm kanserlerin %3'ünü veerişkinlerdeki tüm böbrek kanserlerinin ise %85'ini oluşturmaktadır. Köken aldığı hücre tipine göre: Berrak Hücreli Karsinom, Papiller Karsinom, Kromofob renal Hücreli Karsinom ve Toplayıcı Duktus Karsinomu olarak dört tipe ayrılmaktadır. Kanserden ölümlerin %2-3'ünü oluşturarak 10.sırada yer alır. Renal hücreli karsinomlar tanı anında çoğunlukla metastatik veya invaziv durumdadır. Kemoterapi ve radyoterapi tedavisine dirençli olup günümüzde en iyi tedavi seçeneği nefrektomidir. Bu nedenle mevcut bilgilerışığında GATA-3, Maspin ve VEGF ekspresyonunun Renal hücreli karsinomlarda klinikopatolojik parametreler ile ilişkisini araştırdık. Medikal tedaviye dirençli Renal hücreli karsinomlarda yeni tedavi protokolleri geliştirilmesine katkı sağlamayı amaçladık.Çalışma grubumuz 2002-2015 yılları arasında Abant İzzet Baysal ÜniversitesiTıbbi Patoloji Anabilim Dalı tarafından böbrek karsinomu tanısı almış 61 olgudan oluşmaktadır. Bölümümüz arşivinden hastalara ait uygun bloklar çıkartılarak H&E ve immünohistokimyasal olarak GATA-3, Maspin ve VEGF çalışıldı.Çalışma sonucunda renal hücreli karsinomlarda GATA-3 ekspresyonu azalırken, Maspin ve VEGF ekspresyonunun arttığı görülmüştür.Bununla birlikte, bulgularımızı doğrulamak ve bu belirteçlerin Renal Hücreli Karsinom gelişimindeki rolünü belirlemek için daha fazla çalışmaya ihtiyaç bulunmaktadır Renal cell carcinomas represents 3 % of all cancers and 85 % of adult's all renal carcinomas.It's classified according to its cell origin as 1- clear cell ca, 2- papiller ca, 3-chromophoberenal cell ca, 4-collective duct ca. They are resistant to chemotherapy and radiotherapy and nowadays the best choice of treatment is nephrectomy. For these reasons, in light of new informations we have studied the relation between GATA-3,Maspin and VEGF expression and clinicopathologic parameters in renal cell catumourogenesis. We aimed to help devoloping new treatment protocols for renal cellcarcinomas which are resistant to medical therapy.We analyses 61 cases, which was diagnosed with Renal Cell Carcinoma between the years of 2002-2015 by the Department of Pathology Abant İzzet Baysal University Medical Faculty. Rotine histologial paraffin sections were obtained and stained with GATA-3, Maspin and VEGF as H&E and immunohistochemically.As a conclusion, decreased GATA-3 expression and increased Maspin and VEGF expression in Renal Cell Carcinoma was observed.However, further studies are needed to approve our findings and to clarify the role of these markers in the development of RCC. 53

The purpose of this experimental study was to determine the role of dexmedetomidine on histologic alterations induced by renal I-R in rats. In the present study, thirty male Sprague-Dawley rats weighing 200-220 g were randomly assigned into three groups: the sham-control group (group 1, n = 10), the R/untreated group (group 2, n = 10), and the I-R/dexmedetomidine-treated group (group 3, n = 10). For group one, we performed a sham operation. The abdomen was dissected, the right kidney was harvested, and then the left renal pedicle exposed. Renal clamping was not applied. For group 2, rats underwent left renal ischemia for 60 minutes followed by reperfusion for 45 minutes. For group 3, the same surgical procedure as in group 2 was performed, and dexmedetomidine (100 g/kg, intraperitoneal) was administrated at the starting time of reperfusion. The rats were sacrificed after reperfusion, and the kidney tissue was harvested. The histopathological score in the kidney of the I-R/dexmedetomidine-treated group rats was significantly lower than that of I-R/untreated group rats. This score in I-R/untreated group rats was higher than the other two groups, which was statistically significant. In the I-R/untreated group rats, kidneys of untreated ischemia rats showed tubular cell swelling, cellular vacuolization, pyknotic nuclei, medullary congestion, and moderate to severe necrosis. Treatment with dexmedetomidine shows normal glomeruli and slight edema of the tubular cells. These findings provide the first evidence that dexmedetomidine can reduce the renal injury caused by I-R of the kidney, and may be useful in enhancing the tolerance of the kidney against renal injury.
