The importance and impact of feminist mobilization across borders is well documented, but the impact of autonomy as an aspect of such organizing has not been explored in the transnational context. We argue that to understand the impact of transnational feminist mobilization, at least two distinct types of feminist mobilization require further conceptual development and empirical exploration in the transnational context, namely, autonomous as contrasted with multilateral mobilization. We offer a conceptual framework for distinguishing and studying these two forms. Further, using a mixed-methods study design, we empirically distinguish domestic and transnational dimensions of feminist activism and illuminate the impact of both multilateral feminist organizing and autonomous feminist organizing in the transnational space. Our analysis reveals that domestic and transnational organizing are distinct but related phenomena. We also find that in online organizing spaces, autonomous feminist campaigns amplify the messaging of geographically dispersed grassroots and individual activists more than multilateral ones. It further suggests that autonomous movements may offer more potential for representing marginalized groups of women, though this potential may not always be realized. The paper offers new concepts and empirical insights for the study of transnational feminism, thereby enabling a new research agenda. AbstractThis qualitative study examined the experiences of return migrant women from Kosova to contribute to literature on repatriation. Grounded in postcolonial and transnational feminist theories and through a Critical Discourse Analysis of interviews with return migrant women, the study examined dominant discourses which shape the repatriation process in Kosova. Key findings illustrate that returnee women are impacted by and contribute to discourses of comparison, discourses of remigration, and discourses of gender. Returnee women use these discourses to navigate repatriation, while being impacted by intersections of gender and migration. These findings suggest that discourses of comparison often lead returnee women to consider re-migrating rather than reintegrating upon return. In addition, findings offer new insights into how the ability of returnee women to repatriate is hindered by gender norms and family structures which limit them to the domestic realm. The decolonial turn resonates not only in gender studies but across the humanities and arts. While research and teaching increasingly align with decolonization and intersectional perspectives, we understand this as more than intellectual tasks, rather as a call for transformative action with tangible symbolic and material consequences. Taking into account transnational feminist discourses, this article explores what we can do in practice in an institutional context that fosters structures of coloniality and invisibilization of knowledge otherwise in academic knowledge production. Addressing this issue requires an understanding of marginalizing structures on a meta-level and keeping an eye on a less observed micro-level: our own part in the process of academic knowledge production, understanding these dynamics as part of a broader interconnected framework of decolonial actions that emphasizes communal responsibility and comprehensive partnerships.

This article explores the usage and implications of the term “transnational” in research articles published in the prominent journal of Technical Communication from 2013 to 2023. Employing content analysis techniques, metasynthesis, and transrhetorical reading as self-reflective methods, this research reveals the diverse ways in which transnational is employed. In this reflective article, I focus on the meanings and implications of conducting feminist ethnographic research during the COVID-19 pandemic with women participants of an educational project supported by the non-governmental sector in India. This research aimed to provide the space for women to organically present and provide insight into the multiplicity of factors that influence their decision-making authority and ability, illuminating the connections between education, agency, and empowerment during the COVID-19 pandemic. I discuss the nuances as well as on-the-ground limitations of developing collaborative and relational research in contexts with significant material and structural constraints. In this article, I seek to underscore the need to examine closely what collective belonging, duty, and responsibility looks like for researchers in the development and implementation of transnational feminist projects during crisis. Through an analysis of essays published by the online magazine American Kahani, a publication that centers contemporary generations of the Indian American community, we argue that feminist relational agency allows Indian American community members to challenge dominant expressions of culturally specific heteronormative gender norms while simultaneously fulfilling their need to maintain an "authentic" sense of cultural identity. In doing so, cultural contestation emerges as a process internal to the community through which members seek to develop alternate forms of relationality while sustaining their connectedness to "Indian (American) culture." This study contributes to scholarship about intersectional and transnational feminist agency and the Indian American diaspora by challenging the problematic application of western frameworks of agency that see non-western cultures as barriers for women of color to overcome and by specifically calling for studies that center complex and culturally specific conceptions of agency. AbstractThis article examines the case study of Real-Life Legends: 50 Women to Grow Up with in Israel, a local anthology published in 2019 as part of the global trend of women’s biographical collections aimed at empowering girls. Investigating the dissemination of current feminist ideas in global popular culture within a specific cultural context, the study analyzes the selection of featured women, their biographical narratives, and the book’s creation process led by a group of women. The analysis reveals the anthology’s challenges in balancing national identity and feminist values, as Real-Life Legends shifts from the dominant national-Zionist narrative to a universal discourse while retaining a notable militaristic focus. In contrast to the book’s critical stance on its national narrative, the book’s feminist discourse aligns with contemporary global neoliberal discourse, raising questions about its transformative potential. The marginalization of the Israeli feminist movement within the book supports its depoliticization of the feminist cause. However, at the same time, a nuanced radical feminist perspective within the texts reveals an interplay between the private and public domains. This case study contributes to understanding the adaptation of global feminist ideas to specific cultural settings, shedding light on the intersections of gender, nationality, and transnational popular feminism.

Drawing on two multilingual qualitative datasets (Korean/English and German/English), this paper examines the dual role and positionalities of two researchers who simultaneously act as translators, as well as the implications of this dual role for multilingual qualitative research. This work is informed by transnational feminist translation studies and transnational feminist approaches to qualitative research, and founded on the two researchers' intimate familiarity with their participants' languages, contexts, and meaning-making processes. Considering the complexity of this familiarity, this work presents unique dilemmas—challenges and opportunities—with respect to translating, representing, and writing about multilingual qualitative data. The question of what constitutes solidarity (and what does not) has been a persistent concern for feminist scholars. In this conceptual article, we develop a distinction between superficial feminist solidarity and substantive feminist solidarity, grounded in illustrations of digital resistance during the transnational "Woman, Life, Freedom" feminist movement. The categories of superficial feminist solidarity and substantive feminist solidarity provide a framework for critically distinguishing between the range of actions in the movement and understanding their respective logics, practices, and implications. Superficial feminist solidarity actions may raise awareness, but often do so in the service of building consensus for Western feminism. In contrast, substantive feminist solidarity manifests as anti-colonial praxis that advances demands for social justice through a horizontal dynamic with people subjected to inhumane conditions. This special issue features five articles written by a group of established and emerging researchers, who carefully examined the challenges and opportunities for women's participation in media production across platforms and nations. Overall, the case studies in this special issue extend and broaden current conversations about gendered media-making practices by emphasizing an intersectional, transnational, and critical feminist perspective on identity, subjectivity, embodiment, and labour. Further, these studies highlight both structural barriers that women face in the global media industries as well as emergent resistant and interventionist tactics. Taken together, they demonstrate the value of local, situated analyses and expose the shared patriarchal repressions as well as opportunities of development for feminist media production within a transnational context. Although Pakistan attained independence from the British colonial rule in 1947, the effects of colonial violence endure in the psychosocial realities of Pakistani people. Centering the stories about coloniality of two women leaders working in nongovernmental organizations, this article examines how psychological processes of meaning-making and decolonial resistance manifest in women's engagement with (de)coloniality in Lahore, Pakistan. I draw from transnational and decolonial feminisms and critical psychologies to highlight how two women's contextually shaped realities reflect colonial legacies interlaced with local and global inequities, and to document the ways women construe and resist coloniality-driven gender injustices. Using thematic narrative analysis, findings show that these women make sense of and resist coloniality through an intersectional approach, historical counter-narratives, and reimagination. The article discusses how context-specific decolonial strategies demonstrate women's agency and resistance within transnational feminist praxis, contributing to pluralistic and justice-enhancing approaches. This paper examines plays by Irish and Korean women playwrights whose work is often neglected in their national canons and in the male-dominated theatre scene of the mid-twentieth century. The cases of Ireland and Korea overlap in compelling ways with discussions of modernity that are being reconstructed from the perspectives of colonial subjugation (under Britain and Japan) and wartime experience (in the Irish Civil War of 1922-23 and Korean War of 1950-53). There is a close relationship between these women writers’ marginalised place in their respective countries’ literary and theatrical scene and the process of Irish and Korean modernisation. The paper conducts a comparative analysis of works by Teresa Deevy, Kim Ja-rim, Maura Laverty and Jeon Ok-joo, highlighting the various thematic, political and formal strategies that these playwrights adopted at a time when their nations were ‘at the crossroads’. Against the grand narratives of ‘the nation’, women playwrights focused on depicting the aesthetics of daily life, emphasising aspects that had been neglected or marginalised in the discourse of modernity/coloniality. They dismantled clichés of dutiful wives and pacifist mothers, choosing instead to create complex and authentic depictions of femininity, endowing their female characters with a potent political voice in the public sphere. By reassessing their plays from a transnational feminist perspective, the paper seeks to expand feminist discourses in both Irish and Korean theatre history.

In this paper, I offer a descriptive and normative analysis of the requirements for effective transnational solidarity between southern NGOs and their northern partners. Drawing on interviews conducted with staff members of Senegalese women's rights NGOs and a private international development foundation, I contend that existing theories of feminist transnational solidarity cannot allow us to properly acknowledge the power asymmetries and obstacles to solidarity that these NGOs are facing. After assessing the divisions related to gender interests and limited resources that characterize this NGO-ized development landscape, I develop a partial theory of transnational solidarity that would center power asymmetries in order to address practical and political obstacles to solidarity. I argue that an effective account of transnational solidarity must include a commitment to disrupting global hierarchies of power as well as to building practices of accountability and attentiveness to power structures. Global right-wing anti-gender movements have developed a transnational pattern in their uses of language as a means of subjugation and of control, and this article examines manifestations of this pattern in two specific states: Brazil and Russia. By exploring the anti-gender languaging, rhetoric, and legislation advanced by Jair Bolsonaro (President of Brazil 2019–2022) and Vladimir Putin (President of Russia 2000–2008 and 2012 to the present) and their supporters, we find that, in both contexts, antigender campaigns are reactions to and also drivers for increasingly dramatic political and social conflicts, and in each case, anti-gender ideologies are embedded in larger right-wing authoritarian aims. The antigender discourse advanced by these leaders and their pivotal supporters arises not from simple personal feelings but are, instead, targeted political strategies, similar aims embedded in different languages. Our examination begins by contextualizing Bolsonaro’s Brazil and Putin’s Russia within the larger landscape of anti-gender campaigns and the global growth of right-wing authoritarianism. We then move to the two case studies and their respective enactments of anti-gender languaging and rhetoric within their specific political, social, and discursive landscapes, demonstrating the transnational nature of such projects despite differences in local contexts. Finally, we synthesize these case studies and consider the roles of Feminist Translation Studies and transnational feminist exchange in responding to the rise of such right-wing antigender movements in both local and global manifestations. Since the 1990s Estonia has been characterized by the acceptance of neoliberal values, as an antidote to the Soviet past. Neoliberal practices, like quantification and market- orientation, have permeated most spheres of society, including academia. There has been very little critical reflection on the epistemic inequalities created by this academic model for Estonia as a semi-peripheral country. In this article, the authors aim to place the neoliberalization of academia within a broader framework of colonial practices within global knowledge production, continuing their previous work on the blind spots of transnational feminism and intersections of feminisms and neoliberalism. Building on insights developed within transnational and decolonial feminism, the authors propose three interventions into neoliberal academic culture: telling better stories, practicing slow scholarship to tease apart complex colonial entanglements and using creative writing practices.

Assaults on ʻāina (land; that which feeds) are assaults on wāhine (women). Violence toward wāhine ʻōiwi (Native Hawaiian women/feminine people) and the ʻāina is discussed through the context of the Missing and Murdered Native Hawaiian Women, Girls, Māhū (MMNHWGM) movement and its relation to militourism. Militourism is used to draw parallels between the violence experienced by wāhine ʻōiwi in Hawaiʻi and women in the Philippines and across Asia and the Pacific. The concept of “genuine security” is addressed as a step toward sovereignty and reducing violence against wāhine and ʻāina. Reflective solutions to the violent impacts of militourism are offered through the frame of radical healing.

This essay considers the 2022–23 feminist uprising in Iran through a transnational feminist lens, as part of a global revolt against patriarchal, homophobic, and transphobic state violence. After first placing the Women, Life, Freedom movement in the context of modern Iranian history, the essay analyzes the dramatic changes in revolutionary politics and consciousness that have resulted in the shift of gender and sexual liberation from the periphery to the center of the freedom struggle in Iran. These novel developments have also opened up new possibilities for diasporic and transnational feminist solidarities that can cut against Iran's relative isolation from other social movements in the global South. The essay focuses on Iranian iterations of the Chilean feminist song "A Rapist in Your Path" as examples of how affective desires for revolution are transmitted across borders and embodied at the same time, rendering these performances situated acts of resistance as well as sites of South-South solidarity. Groupe Intervention Vidéo (GIV) is a Montreal-based distribution company "dedicated to the promotion of works made by women (in the most inclusive definition)." Founded in 1975, for almost five decades, GIV has supported a vast range of video works by and for women from Quebec and Canada, as well as from an international context. Over the years, GIV has promoted its catalogue to different communities through curated programs screened locally or at national and international festivals. More recently, this mandate has found a new venue and greater amplitude due to the use of two streaming platforms, Vimeo and VUCAVU. In this essay, I explain GIV's recent discourse on the use of streaming platforms as reflective of the organization's investment in video technology as a form of feminist intervention since the 1970s. The founders of Organization include Marta Calás and Linda Smircich who are among the most influential feminist theorists in organization studies. We take inspiration from their work to outline ideas for feminist and other critical scholars studying organizations and organizing. We draw especially on their consistent interest in transnational feminism, engagement with feminist new materialisms, and emphasis on epistemological and ontological questions about (feminist) organization studies. We highlight key theoretical points and show how feminism(s) can remain socially, societally, and globally meaningful. Our aim is to continue to create feminist organization theorizing that, as Calás and Smircich's scholarship does, remains critical and vigilant about who its knowers are, what kind of knowledge it produces, and what this knowledge is for. This article reviews key theoretical and methodological contributions that anthropologists have made to the study of what we call security regimes. While anthropologists have been instrumental in denaturalizing discourses of security, much of the existing literature on who security actors are or where their work and force are to be found remains focused on the masculinist frontlines and visibly spectacular instances of security state power. We adopt a transnational feminist lens to rethink what we understand security regimes to be and where they are to be found by drawing attention to the multiscalar sites (e.g., home, family, kinship, intimacy) and technologies of rule (e.g., affect, aesthetics, discourse) through which security regimes are constituted, expanded, and challenged. The final section of the review examines methodological and ethical challenges, which are made more complex by the changing profile of the multiply racialized, gendered, nationalized, and classed researchers of security regimes. This article examines the history of Third World Women's Alliance (TWWA), a significant proto-intersectional feminist organization involving women of color during the Sixties and Seventies, through a transnational lens. Drawing on archival sources and oral interviews, the article argues that transnationalism played a pivotal role in shaping the TWWA's antiimperialist ideology and activism. The first section of the article emphasizes the TWWA's transnational roots by exploring the connection between Frances M. Beal, one of its founders, and African American intellectuals active in Paris, as well as African students in France during the Sixties. The second section delves into the TWWA's participation in the two Indochinese Women's Conferences held in Vancouver and Toronto in 1971, highlighting the TWWA's reputation as one of the important organizations of women of color in the United States and explores the ongoing connections between the TWWA and Vietnamese delegations in Canada following the conferences. In the final two sections, the article examines how Cuba became a contested site for defining the intricate relationship between gender, race, and class in the United States, and how it served as a political reference point that impacted the TWWA's activism. Unlike prevailing research methodologies in the interdisciplinary field of global health, feminist methodologies allow researchers to unsettle the premises and assumptions of the field. This paper describes how we mobilize transnational feminist ethnography in our research on HIV in India and postabortion care in Senegal. Transnational feminist perspectives enable us to re-embed HIV prevention and post-abortion care in the politics of gender and sexuality and in postcolonial histories of health governance. They consider the role of gender and sexuality not just in terms of gendered health inequalities, but also in terms of how global health problems are defined, managed, measured, and contested. We outline how our projects put this lens into practice by pushing the methodological boundaries of time, scale, and scope and through a historicized, multisited, and multiscalar approach that triangulates multiple sources of data. Feminist ethnography requires that we turn the critical gaze upon ourselves, reflecting on multiple and shifting personal and professional positionalities during and after fieldwork and our ethical commitments to our interlocutors. While acknowledging the significant personal, institutional, and professional challenges of using feminist methodologies, especially given the dominant modes of research in global health, we urge greater consideration, among both advanced and early scholars, of the possibilities they offer for studying global health problems. Having roots in women's struggles in different world regions, the International Women's Strike (IWS) has, since 2017, generated a global wave of feminist mobilization against attacks on gender equality and sexual rights, neoliberalism's multiple crises, and authoritarian, fundamentalist, and neo-nationalist politics. This article discusses the IWS from the perspective of transnational solidarities, with a focus on its manifestation in Turkey. First, differentiating between supra-political and left-leaning currents in transnational feminist politics, I outline the guiding principles of the IWS campaign as an acknowledgment of the systemic dynamics of gender oppression, a broad definition of women's labor, and an intersectional understanding of solidarity. Second, drawing on field-based and digital ethnography, participatory action research, and interviews with activists from the coalition Women Are Strong Together, I discuss how the IWS principles overlapped with political dynamics and conflicts of interest between different women's groups, hindering the possibility of a women's strike in Turkey. The article demonstrates the tensions and transformations occurring at the intersection of the supra- and sub-national levels in feminist politics and contributes to the understanding of how different currents in transnational feminism dovetail with different imaginations and practices of solidarity. At the center of this article are two organizations – one in the United Kingdom and one in France – led by secular Muslim feminists involved in challenging religious fundamentalism, questioning existing gender norms, and contesting inequalities within their societies while also confronting the excesses of cultural relativism, Islamic exceptionalism, and Islamophobia. The contexts in which these women are working entail complexities, tensions, and conflicts that lock them within frameworks of identity politics and make it difficult for them to collaborate with Muslim feminists working from faith-based positions. The motivating question in this article is how these forms of feminist organizing can accommodate differences and absorb conflict while allowing for the solidarity necessary for collective action. Drawing on interviews with Sara Khan and Nadia Remadna (the leaders of Inspire and Brigade des Mères, respectively) and building on Clare Hemmings' conceptualization of "affective dissonance" – the discrepancy between one's sense of self and how one is perceived by diverse groups – I call for a nuanced understanding of the ways in which Muslim feminists engage both critically and affectively with the discourses that they encounter in their everyday lives. This article aims to expand the ongoing theoretical debate on the broadened and context-specific notion of politics by offering an empirically nuanced conceptualization of the political based on the study of feminist and lesbian, gay, bisexual, trans, and intersex (LGBTI+) activism in Russia, Turkey, and the Scandinavian countries. We use a multi-scalar transnational approach to foreground connectivities across regions to challenge nation-bound and state-centric perspectives on politics and reveal the various formulations beyond the formal/informal divide. Case studies from feminist and LGBTI+ activists and minority organizations demonstrate context-specific ways of inhabiting or distancing from politics. Drawing on interdisciplinary feminist scholarship and a Gramscian approach to civil society, we challenge the narrow articulation of politics either as antagonism or contestation. In doing so, we highlight the political expressions that do not neatly fit into the expected forms of politics, yet are motivated by a commitment to shaping new ways of living together. In this introduction to the Special Issue "Translating Transnational Feminisms," we argue for the integral position of feminist translation practices and the theories of Feminist Translation Studies as tools for both local and transnational feminist solidarities. Beginning with the understanding that transnational feminist solidarities rely on not only linguistic translation but also cultural fluencies that allow for exchange rather than simply the import or export of locally bound feminist praxis, we illustrate that the practice of feminist translation thus carries with it the conflicts, the fraught and unfolding contestations of meaning, and the ever-evolving conceptions of gender, feminism, and solidarity that exist not only between languages but also within any language and its political and cultural landscapes. Vulnerability is a standard criterion used by state and non-governmental organizations to identify groups of people in need of protection or support. Over the past two decades, however, this notoriously ill-defined and potentially stigmatizing term has been subjected to scrutiny by researchers, service providers, and theorists across multiple disciplines. This study examines the relevance of vulnerability to the ways international feminist activists who were interviewed between 2003 and 2019 for the Global Feminisms Project (GFP) described their struggles for women's rights in various settings over the past 50 years. Citing examples from nine countries, we show that these activists rarely used the term vulnerable, and never to classify groups of people. Instead, they frequently explained how particular groups were subjected to precarious conditions, and how they resisted subjugation, within multiple layers of gendered social relations and political structures. Many activists connected their locally-grounded work to global historical processes, emphasizing particularly the impact of neo-liberalism. Although using different vocabularies, these analyses resonate with work by bioethicists and feminist/queer theorists who reject the use of vulnerability as a classificatory term but embrace it as a tool for analyzing subjugation, building solidarity, and challenging neo-liberal conceptions of individual autonomy. In this conversation with Samantha Pinto, Simidele Dosekun and Srila Roy trace the ways that gender and sexuality are both highly local and deeply transnational in the current landscape of neoliberalism. Dosekun's Fashioning Postfeminism: Spectacular Femininity and Transnational Culture looks to beauty industry and practices in Lagos to explore the tension between self-construction and media representation in a world of savvy consumption and complex audiences for women's embodied lives. Roy's Changing the Subject: Feminist and Queer Politics in Neoliberal India looks to two activist organisations representing very different forms of feminist praxis and appeal to the state in contemporary India that both reproduce but also confound neoliberal logics of governmentality. Dosekun and Roy, using ethnographic methods, leave feminist theory undone by their counterintuitive and even ambivalent critical moves that refuse to rest on well-worn binaries and critiques within neoliberalism. This piece is a conversation meant to draw out powerful connections between the challenging, field-changing work of these two scholars, as well as the specificity each brings to their intellectual practice of feminist theory. Nike, a US-headquartered transnational corporation lauded for its putatively empowering women-centered advertisements, frequently releases nationally/regionally focused advertisements depicting women determinedly engaging in physical activity and, in doing so, overcoming gendered barriers and stigmas. Indeed, the global ubiquity of the empowered (Nike-clad) woman illustrates Nike's role in advancing women's empowerment, both in the US and globally. Universalizing "just do it" beyond geographical borders, Nike's form of transnational feminism centers on a carefully manufactured, Western-centered image of empowered female athleticism. However, this notably contradicts transnational feminist efforts to reject the universalization of Western-centered representations of women. Using a critical cultural studies approach in concert with a transnational feminist framework, we analyze six recent Nike advertisements (the United States, Mexico, the Middle East, Turkey, India, and Russia) and critique the corporation's universalization of neoliberal postfeminist messaging within its global marketing strategies. We find that Nike utilizes three thematics to extend their caricature of the (Nike-powered) female athlete beyond the spatial and symbolic borders of the US market: responsibilitization, competitive individualism, and empowerment. We conclude that Nike normalizes a white, Western-centered neoliberal postfeminism, undermining the structural and sporting realities of the non-white/non-Western women their promotional campaigning seeks to embolden. Women's bodies have often been used as metonymic, standing for the nation and its ideologies. In exploring both narrative and documentary style filmmaking, I turn to two films: Gilaneh (2006) by Rakhshan Banietemad and A Moon for my Father (2019) co-directed by Mania Akbari and Douglas White. In Gilaneh, Banietemad codifies the maternal to symbolise the nation, but only to subvert and critique the state's neglect of the forgotten mother. By imagining war beyond the borders of Iran, Banietemad also imagines the mother figure across the nation, giving her international significance. In A Moon for my Father Akbari features her own body and battle with breast cancer. Even in the film's most intimate moments, Akabri reflects on and connects herself to the women's movement in Iran. In their conceptualisation of women's bodies, I argue that both Banietemad and Akbari extend the singular body beyond its national boundaries, calling for and insisting upon an intersectional and collective feminism. This introduction outlines the special issue's call for a transnational feminist approach to film and media from the Middle East and North Africa. The authors provide an overview of approaches to gender in Middle Eastern and North African film, as well as surveying new methodological directions in the field. They argue that a transnational feminist approach brings together divergent fields and has numerous generative possibilities for the contemporary political context. The paper examines some ‘stories’ of female artists who were connected (in different ways) to Belarusian cultural space, mainly in the first half of the twentieth century. Despite women’s prominent and incontestable contribution to art, firstly, as producers, their role and place are still mainly invisible in ‘global’ and ‘local’ art history, whose ‘canon’ is oriented on the male experience. Exploring history and the strategies of displacement, erasing, forgetting, and non-recognition of female producers in art, the paper asks about socalled universal common patterns of how this marginalisation (and, as a result, absent) still happens, no matter what field — art, science, technology — in any area which is considered as a male realm. Discussing several obstacles scholars might face in the process of reconstructing women’s biographies, the author argues that the feminist approach of storytelling aims not merely to extend ‘history’. It is a strategy to trouble the existing male-oriented ‘canon’ that contributes to creating multidiverse and plural ‘epistemic spaces’ as the fundamental matter of transnational feminism. This article examines Merlinda Bobis's novel The Solemn Lantern Maker (2008) with recourse to affect theories on terror and vulnerability. The narrative addresses harsh realities like children's prostitution, extreme poverty, and brutal corruption, and puts these apparently Philippine "domestic" matters in direct relation to globalization and to the so-called war on terror. The analysis of the narrative pays attention to the strategies of resilience and healing developed by vulnerable civilians, taking into account the increasing degrees of risk at the intersection of race, ethnic, class, age and gender differences. This essay focuses on two Moroccan immigrant authors whose recent works provide insights into transnational feminisms in contemporary poetry and narrative. Najat El Hachmi’s Mare de llet i mel (2018) and Lamiae El Amrani’s Poesía femenina y sociedad (2010) highlight Moroccan women’s collective voices through poetic storytelling and contribute to the contemporary transnational feminist movement. This study analyzes the two works and comments on contemporary feminist and poetic theory as they relate to transnational Peninsular feminism and to the future of Moroccan literature written in Castilian and Catalan. Both authors avoid the pitfalls of certain third-wave, transnational, feminist stances by focusing on the collective voices of Moroccan women and by emphasizing the oral poetic traditions of Moroccan culture and how such forms uniquely communicate transnational feminist perspectives, particularly in the context of global migrations.Este estudio se centra en dos autoras inmigrantes marroquíes cuya obra reciente ofrece perspectivas iluminadoras sobre los femenismos peninsulares transnacionales en la poesía y la narrativa contemporáneas. Mare de llet i mel de Najat El Hachmi (2018) y Poesía femenina y sociedad de Lamiae El Amrani (2010) resaltan las voces colectivas de las mujeres marroquíes a través de narraciones poéticas y le aportan contribuciones importantes al movimiento feminista transnacional contemporáneo. Este estudio analiza ambas obras y ofrece un debate sobre la teoría poética y feminista contemporánea en relación con el feminismo peninsular transnacional y el futuro de la literatura marroquí en castellano y en catalán. Cada escritor ofrece una perspectiva diferente que evita ciertos escollos feministas de la tercera ola del feminismo, en parte al enforcarse en las voces colectivas de las mujeres marroquíes, y en parte al enfatizar las tradiciones poéticas orales de la cultura marroquí y cómo tales formas comunican las perspectivas feministas transnacionales, particularmente en el contexto de las migraciones globales.

This essay collages theories (settler colonialism, transnational feminism, Black and Indigenous feminist thought, and critical theory) for the purpose of dialoguing together through land-based Black and Indigenous solidarities. In our dialogue, we invite readers to think about how choosing theories and identifying intentions is a methodology of coalition. We demonstrate how this might materialize in three coalition possibilities: faith communities, neoslavery for dispossession and erasure, and reimagining borders.
