Public health emergencies refer to emergencies caused by various factors that may cause serious harm to society. This paper mainly discusses how to establish an emergency reserve mechanism for public health emergencies. This paper proposes a comprehensive evaluation system for emergency response capabilities based on analytical methods, and analyzes the emergency response to public health emergencies and various functional management departments. The experimental results show that the implementation rate of disease prevention and control projects in the city center is 59.3%, and the average completion rate of inspection projects by district and county health supervision agencies is 45.8%. However, these achievements are far from enough. Therefore, the training of relevant personnel should be strengthened and run through the material reserve work from beginning to end. At the same time, an emergency material reserve system should be established. According to actual needs, timely provide emergency disposal materials to ensure normal supply. In response to the current public health emergencies, multiple departments and units should further strengthen management personnel allocation and optimize work processes to promote the development of public health.

This study intends to show how informative posters influence consumers' choice and willingness to pay for food products. To operate the study, we hypothesized the poster with transportation and GHG emissions will have the greatest impact on increasing willingness to buy and choose local foods. The study is a between-subject group design, participants (N=252) were randomly assigned to three conditions: No-Framing condition, GHG Emission condition, and GHG Emission plus Transportation Distance condition, providing them informative posters with different types of local and remote food types. We used an online survey to measure if exposure of informative posters increases the participant’s willingness to pay for local food. The data analysis demonstrates that more people would choose local Steak and cheese after seeing information of transport distance and GHG emissions, which supports our hypothesis. Furthermore, the results in our study showed a significant effect of the variable on location of cheese, consumers have a preference for remote cheese over local cheese, regardless of the descriptive transportation information, that did not support our hypothesis and provided itself as a limitation on our study and a piece for consideration to improve upon meeting sustainability goals on UBC’s campus in the foods department. Non-collinear spin order that breaks space inversion symmetry and allows efficient electric-field control of magnetism makes BiFeO$_3$ a promising candidate for applications in low-power spintronic devices. Epitaxial strain effects have been intensively studied and exhibit significant modulation of the magnetic order in BiFeO$_3$, but tuning its spin structure with continuously varied uniaxial strain is still lacking up to date. Here, we apply \emph{in situ} uniaxial strain to a freestanding BiFeO$_3$ film and use scanning NV microscope to image the nanoscale magnetic order in real-space. The strain is continuously increased from 0\% to 1.5\% and four images under different strains are acquired during this period. The images show that the spin cycloid tilts by $\sim 12.6^\circ$ when strain approaches 1.5\%. A first principle calculation has been processed to show that the tilting is energetically favorable under such strain. CMV causes mostly asymptomatic but lifelong infection. Primary infection or reactivation in immunocompromised individuals can be life-threatening. CMV viremia often occurs in solid organ transplant recipients and associates with decreased graft survival and higher mortality. Furthering understanding of impaired immunity that allows CMV reactivation is critical to guiding antiviral therapy and examining the effect of CMV on solid organ transplant outcomes. This study characterized longitudinal immune responses to CMV in 31 kidney transplant recipients with CMV viremia and matched, nonviremic recipients. Recipients were sampled 3 and 12 months after transplant, with additional samples 1 week and 1 month after viremia. PBMCs were stained for NK and T cell markers. PBMC transcriptomes were characterized by RNA-Seq. Plasma proteins were quantified by Luminex. CD8+ T cell transcriptomes were characterized by single-cell RNA-Seq. Before viremia, patients had high levels of IL-15 with concurrent expansion of immature CD56bright NK cells. After viremia, mature CD56dim NK cells and CD28-CD8+ T cells upregulating inhibitory and NK-associated receptors were expanded. Memory NK cells and NK-like CD28-CD8+ T cells were associated with control of viremia. These findings suggest that signatures of innate activation may be prognostic for CMV reactivation after transplant, while CD8+ T cell functionality is critical for effective control of CMV.

In view of the problem that the general electronic instrument and equipment used for transient parameters testing can not work normally under the influence of strong electromagnetic interference, an overload testing device which can effectively shield the strong electromagnetic interference is designed. The shell structure of the testing device is made of multilayer metal materials with good electromagnetic shielding performance, and the internal structure is filled with polyurethane filling technology. The internal circuit system combines low-power design and data acquisition and storage technology to complete the acquisition and recording of overload parameters during the whole flight process. In the actual firing test of electromagnetic railgun, the test device reliably recorded the overload data of the projectile. The result of the experiment shows that the shell structure of the test device has effective electromagnetic shielding for strong electromagnetic fields，and the internal circuit system has successfully acquired the transient overload parameters of the projectile.

Temporary work reform was implemented in July 2015 and allowed the hiring of temporary employees on a general basis for up to 12 months. However, this deregulation was met with challenges from the left-wing parties in Norway, and 51 municipality leaders refused to implement the reform in municipality hiring. This thesis evaluates how temporary work reform affects the temporary employment for immigrants residing in Norway using individual register data from 2010 to 2013 and 2015 to 2018. The causal effect is estimated using the difference-in-difference (DiD) method, with municipalities that agreed to implement the reform designated the treatment group, and those who disagreed designated the control group. Results show a minor significant increase in the probability of immigrants having temporary works as their main jobs and a 6.82kr drop in hourly wage. Additionally, there is no significant quarterly stepping-stone effect on transition rate (from temporary to permanent employment) for immigrants. The mixed results are contributive but are not conclusive as to whether the reform is beneficial to immigrants.

In order to ensure the safety of railway operation, it is urgent to strengthen the detection and protection of railway perimeter safety. This paper proposes a method for detecting foreign body intrusion in railway perimeter based on double recognition. The Gaussian Mixture Model (GMM) is used to process the video image of the railway scene, and the foreign objects are pre-screened, and the foreign object existence frames are extracted, and then the YOLOv3 algorithm is used to perform secondary detection and recognition on the foreign object existence frames. This method can improve the accuracy of target recognition, reduce the false alarm rate and false alarm rate of foreign object invasion in railway scenes, and occupy less on-site computing resources, which is suitable for on-site requirements. The results show that, compared with the GMM, the false negative rate of the algorithm in this paper is lower, and the algorithm is more suitable for railway site requirements than the deep learning algorithm.

The pyrethroid insecticide deltamethrin has been reported to have an effect on vertebrate development and cardiovascular disease. Sodium tanshinone IIA sulfonate (STS) is considered to have cardioprotective effects and melatonin is known to regulate sleep-waking cycles. In this experiment, we used transgenic zebrafish Tg (kdrl:mCherry) and Tg (myl7:GFP) to investigate whether STS and melatonin could reverse the cardiovascular toxicity and neurotoxicity induced by deltamethrin. Zebrafish embryos were exposed to 25 μg/L deltamethrin at 10 hpf and treated with 100 mmol/L STS and 1 μmol/L melatonin showed that deltamethrin treatment affected normal cardiovascular development. In situ hybridization and qRT-PCR results showed that deltamethrin could interfere with the normal expression of cardiovascular development-related genes vegfr2, shh, gata4, nkx2.5, causing functional defects in the cardiovascular system. In addition, deltamethrin could affect the sleep-waking behavior of larvae, increasing the activity of larvae, decreasing the rest behavior and the expression of hcrt, hcrtr, aanat2 were down-regulated. The addition of melatonin and STS can significantly alleviate cardiovascular toxicity and sleep-waking induced by deltamethrin, while restoring the expression of related genes to normal levels. Our study demonstrates the role of STS and melatonin in protecting cardiovascular and sleep-waking behavior caused by deltamethrin.

Cell penetration is a typical micromanipulation technique widely utilized in many cell biological applications. The significant cell deformation generated during penetration can mechanically damage the cell and even cause the death of the cell. Measuring the intracellular displacement resulting from cell deformation can provide a quantitative evaluation of the mechanical harm done to cells during penetration. The existing labeled intracellular displacement measurement approaches have limitations in spatial resolution and must introduce markers, which cause further harm to the cell. Moreover, label-free methods, such as traditional optical flow methods, are not suitable for measuring the inconsistent intracellular displacement distribution due to cell penetration. This paper presents a label-free noncontact method for measuring the intracellular displacements during penetration. First, based on a finite element simulation, the uneven distribution of intracellular displacements due to penetration was modeled by a quadratic model. Then, by combining the obtained displacement model with the Farneback dense optical flow method, a model-based optical flow method was developed to measure intracellular displacements. Finally, the method was used to ascertain the intracellular displacement in porcine oocyte penetration experiments. The forward-backward error of the proposed detection method is less than 0.5 pixels, lower by 49.3% and 26.1%, respectively, compared with two typical Farneback optical flow methods. This method could be used to analyze cell damage during penetration. In this paper, we proposed an oocyte orientation selection method based on the minimum strain position in the penetration process in order to maximize the developmental potential of the operated oocytes. Considering the symmetry of an oocyte during the penetration process, we analyzed only the intracellular strain of the lower half of the oocyte (from 3 o’clock to 9 o’clock). Firstly, the strain distribution in the penetration process was calculated using the finite element analysis method. The influences of penetration force, zona pellucida thickness, oocyte radius, Young’s modulus of the cytoplasm, and zona pellucida on the strain distribution were studied. The simulation results showed that the strain values at the 4 o’clock and 9 o’clock areas were significantly smaller than those at the 5 o’clock, 6 o’clock, 7 o’clock, and 8 o’clock areas. Secondly, the experimental strain distribution during penetration was evaluated for the first time using an optical flow method. The experimental strain distribution was strongly positively correlated to the aforementioned simulated results. Finally, the developmental potential of the penetrated porcine oocyte with different orientations was evaluated using the cleavage rate (48 h after penetration and parthenogenetic activation). The cleavage rate was strongly negatively correlated to the intracellular strain. We inferred that a smaller strain on the polar body areas in the penetration process caused less potential damage, which leads to a higher developmental potential of the penetrated oocyte. The optimized oocyte orientations, with the polar body at the 4 o’clock and 9 o’clock areas, are determined based on the minimum strain position in the penetration process.

A local white-rot fungus basidiomycete Pleurotus ostreatus MR3 was isolated from MacRitchie Reservoir Park, Singapore. Among all the ligninolytic activities, laccase was the only enzyme detected in the supernatant when the fungus was grown in liquid culture. This newly isolated white rot fungus was able to completely decolourise remazol brilliant blue R (RBBR) in-vivo on agar plates within five days and in the liquid culture (in the presence of inducers) within three days. The addition of inducers was able to enhance laccase production and therefore enhanced in-vivo RBBR decolourisation. Veratryl alcohol was shown to be the best inducer for laccase production with the maximum laccase activity reaching about 5.99 U/mL. Cu2+ also had a positive effect on laccase production, the laccase activity being enhanced to 5.24 U/mL. Millimeter wave (MMW) radar is booming in application to target seeker onboard the air-to-air missile (AAM), which has the capability to obtain all-weather radar images for auto target recognition (ATR) and intelligent active homing guidance. An advanced simulation system for MMW imaging radar seekers of AAM was introduced in this paper. The system is composed of parameter initialization module, signal simulation module and image formation module. It is capable of investigating and demonstrating the system performance of MMW radar seeker. The modeling of radar signal and the geometric model for missile-to-target were presented in particular. The echo signal for major radar operation modes could be generated by the system, including high-resolution range profile (HRRP) mode, Doppler beam sharpening (DBS) mode as well as the high-resolution burst-SAR mode. The image formation algorithms for each radar operation mode were integrated in the system to generate highly accurate radar imagery. Computer simulation results for an actual aircraft were presented, which validate the correctness of the simulation system. It is an advanced tool for the investigation of imaging algorithms and the optimization of the system parameter selection, as well as the demonstration of the radar scenario
