- Abstract
The growing role of institutions and their influence on the labour market outcomes, i.e., wage rates and labour allocation, has been among the most significant characteristic features of labour markets in recent decades. The labour market economics built its paradigm on the principles of marginalism, which brought suitable instruments for the analysis of market agents' individual decisions capable of achieving effective solutions. Smith's "invisible hand" has gradually been limited by institutional interventions - by governments, corporations and trade unions with government legislation, corporate personnel policies and collective bargaining. The expanding regulatory interventions in the labour market and the effort to explain the reality leads inevitably to the fact that the modern labour market economics incorporates more and more institutional theories. The contribution outlines the gradual invasion of neoinstitutional topics and theories into the neoclassical labour market paradigm and it analyses the differences between the neoclassical and institutional interpretation of labour market functioning. It presents the recent discussion on the consequences for the labour market economic theory and formulates a conclusion about the modified labour market economic paradigm. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

- Abstract
This paper tests the selected determinants shaping the careers of women. It uses data from an exclusive survey conducted in 2011 in the Czech Republic and confronts the results with Hakim's preference theory. The results suggest arguments both for against the preference theory. We formulated four hypotheses and verified them by binary probit models. In accordance with the Hakim's theory we were able to demonstrate that the preference for work (work-centered preference) has a positive and significant impact on the career choices of women on the Czech labor market. According to the results of the model is the work-centered preference associated with 52% increase in likelihood that a woman will spend most of the energy in employment. The impact of higher education has been shown to be positive and significant - higher education increases the likelihood that a woman will spend most of the energy is employment by more than 14%. The impact of motherhood is according to our data negative and significant. It reduces the likelihood of career choices by more than 19% and this effect is the same for one and more children which is in contrast to Hakim's theory. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

- Abstract
Paper outlines economic connections of labor market discrimination. It is intended on discrimination based upon gender, because this type of discrimination is on the point of our social background. In the introductory part are defined discrimination and delineated the various types of discrimination. Further there are presented data to suggest the possibility of discrimination. The major part of paper presents four important labor market models of discrimination: taste for discrimination model, monopsony model of discrimination (market power model), statistical discrimination model and the crowding model of discrimination (occupational segregation). In the following part are discussed the other nondiscriminatory factors determinating male - female earnings differentials. Discrimination in law is the last part of this paper. This bachelor thesis summarizes already existing proposals of implementation and practically established concepts of unconditional basic income, which is a form of welfare state. Guaranteed income should provide financial security to all residents and ensure the existential needs for them. The author of the thesis tries to interpret the concept of unconditional basic income, give comprehensive overview of existing proposals and compare their differences. Hypothesis states, that there is no unified method of implementation of unconditional basic income, that could be used in any country. The used method is theoretical, particularly the method af analysis, synthesis and comparison. Conclusion is the fact, that despite topicality and frequency of literature sources, we still cannot unanimously capture definition and technique of implementation and funding of unconditional basic income. On the contrary, it is necessary to consider individuality of each state, its culture and customs.

This paper analyzes the impact of immigration on the unemployment rate in the Czech Republic between 2004-2014 by using the economically active population aged 15-64 and 15-19. The analysis of annual time series showed no significant effect for either age group as well the existence of the reverse causality between the rate of migration and the unemployment rate was not proved. The analysis of quarterly time series showed a significant negative impact of immigration on the unemployment rate of economically active people aged 15-64. Also the reverse causality was confirmed - lagged values of the unemployment rate negatively influenced the rate of migration. A significant positive impact of the immigration on the unemployment rate was not confirmed for the age group 15-19. The reverse causality of the unemployment rate in relation to the rate of migration was found - rising unemployment rate led to decrease of immigration flows.

This bachelor thesis is concerned with the gender wage gap in the Czech Republic and the discrimination of women in the labour market. The main aim of the thesis is to either confirm or disprove a hypothesis that women receive lower financial reward than men. Furthermore, a hypothesis, that differences in incomes between the genders are partly caused by a discriminatory behaviour of employers, is put to test. In the theoretical part, the concepts of the gender wage gap and the Oaxaca-Blinder wage decomposition are outlined. In the practical part, the data obtained in personal interview survey are analysed. The existence of gender wage gap is discovered by means of an econometric model. For this reason, the hypothesis of women being faced with unequal financial rewarding is confirmed. The distribution of the gender wage gap on the basis of the Oaxaca-Blinder wage decomposition proves the presence of discrimination effect. Owing to this, the hypothesis of female gender wage discrimination is also valid. Same results are confirmed by using the method of paired comparison.

The thesis analyzes the factors influencing the marriage rate in the Czech Republic, in particular it examines the impact of the business cycle on the marriage rates. As a substitute variables for the business cycles was chosen GDP and the unemployment rate as the economic growth is usually associated with falling unemployment and GDP growth. Based on assembled data panel for all 14 regions of the Czech Republic in 2002 - 2015 with a total of 196 observations, econometric model estimates were made. The results confirm the expected positive impact of the economic growth on the marriage rate.

The aim of my bachelor´s thesis is to analyse the impact of increasing minimum wage on unemployment of the population and selected demographic groups in the Czech Republic. The constant increase of minimum wage in recent years has given novelty to the job, it is necessary to analyse its impact on the economy. Theoretical part contains three units. The first one describes conclusions of previous studies from the Czech Republic and abroad. The second unit describes models of labor market, especially monopsonistic competition and heterogeneous job. The third part deals with arguments of protagonists and opponents of minimum wage. Within empirical part, I create 4 models where I apply Ordinary Least Squares. Significant and positive impact of increasing minimum wage on unemployment is confirmed among people aged 20-24. The impact of increasing minimum wage on employment of people aged 15-19, elementary educated people or the whole population is not significant.

This thesis analyses a relationship between the trade union density and the growth rate in 10 European countries in years 1960-2010. Using VAR models and Granger causality testing, the outcomes show a cauzality only in case of Italy where the trade union density responds to changes in economic growth rate. In case of other countries there are several signs of reactions to economic impulses, especially during years of crisis, yet not enough significant. The theoretical part introduces reader into the historical background of this relationship observed by many authors, i. e. it defines the labour market viewed from two perspectives, explains the origin and existing models of labour unions and finally, it shows on empirical studies the economic consequences of the influence of labour unions and their presence on the labour market. The thesis analyzes an effect of raising the minimum wage and other variables on unemployment rate in the Czech Republic in 2006-2015. The empirical part is based on available time series, which were used to estimate models of unemployment for both women and men, including differently specified models and a model of overall unemployment. The time series used in regression models were adjusted for seasonality. Main hypothesis of this thesis was, that there is a positive correlation between raising the minimum wage and unemployment rate. Exogenous variables used in the models were chosen based on economic theory and existing literature. Results show, that there was no statistically significant relationship between the minimum wage and unemployment rate in the studied period. It was confirmed that there is a negative effect of GDP growth rate and inflation rate on unemployment rate, while unemployment benefits seem to have a positive effect

The aim of the thesis is to demonstrate if women with children in the Czech Republic have a lower wage rate than childless women. The data from WageIndicator Foundation was processed by using the the least squares method. The conclusion is that motherhood has a negative impact on salaries. I also found that the depreciation of human capital influences only women with two or more children. It can be caused by the lenght of maternity leave. The main finding is that the wage penalty for motherhood actually exists. And the society and politicians should give the motherhood penalty more attention in the future.

This bachelor thesis analyzes the relationship between alcohol consumption and unemployment in the Czech Republic. Author estimates 2 econometric models based on time series from the period 1991 - 2012. Models except above mentioned variables also include the impact of GDP, inflation, real wages, state social expenditures and delayed variable of alcohol consumption testing its addictiveness. Primary hypotheses, defined as positive impact of unemployment on alcohol consumption was confirmed and the analysis shows that 1% increase in unemployment rate leads to 1,05 % increase in alcohol consumption. Secondary hypotheses, defined on the contrary as positive impact of alcohol consumption on unemployment was also confirmed and the results show that 1% increase in alcohol consumption leads to unemployment increase by 0,22 %, which affirms the endogenity assumption of these variables as well. No less important is resulting coefficient of GDP which seems to be counter-cyclical in relation to alcohol consumption.

This thesis examines monetary and non-monetary gains from university education and its effect on varying demand for education. It distinguishes individual faculties of public universities. Compared to related papers this study encompasses a wider dataset as well as the number of non-monetary gains. Presumably, it is the first study of its kind applied to the labour market and the educational system of the Czech Republic. The main source of data is the REFLEX 2013 survey, which provides statistics of the graduates´ employability and their social status. On its basis regression models at various time levels were drafted. The hypothesis that the unemployment of graduates has a negative effect on the demand for their field of study as well as the hypothesis about the lagged relationship between dependent and independent variables have been proved. Nevertheless, compared to some US studies the positive influence of the graduates´ salary has not been proved in any regression model.

The thesis analyzes factors, which affect regional unemployment rate in districts of the Czech Republic. It analyzes panel data of fourteen districts of the Czech Republic from years 2000-2012. It works with method of fixed effects. Next thesis covers two alternativ models, first model analyzes impact of the economic crisis between years 2000-2012 on determinants of regional unemployment rate. Second alternativ model compares factors affecting regional unemployment rate in districts of the Slovakia with factors, which have impact on regional unemployment rate in the Czech districts. Variables are devided into two groups, to economic and demographic. By regression was founded that regional unemployment rate of districts of the Czech Republic is mainly affected by economic factors, for example share of employed in the industry, level of education and regional product per capita. All of these factors have positive impact on regional unemployment rate. There is only one demographic factor which affects regional unemployment rate, it is population density, which has negative impact on regional unemployment rate. Next was founded that economic crisis influnced relationship between investment and regional unemployment rate. While before the crisis the foreign direct investment have negativ impact on regional unemployment, after the crisis foreign direct investment affects regional unemployment positively. In districts of Slovakia influence of economic and demographic factors id equal. There are for example share of employed in industry, foreign direct investment, population density and share of women on labour force.

This thesis analyses how the work experience acquired during the university studies influences the starting salary of graduates. The first part is theoretical, mainly based on the Theory of Human Capital and the Screening theory. The data source for the second (practical) part of this thesis is a REFLEX research, which was performed in the Czech Republic in 2005. The regression analysis was used to prove the expected relationship between the graduate's salary level and an amount of work experience gained during their studies. It was proved that every year spent at work during the studies increases the future salary by 3%. However, there is no difference in the starting salary level between graduates who were working in their study field and those who were not.

This diploma thesis deals with the changes of toll taxes and their implication in the Czech Republic between years 2007 -- 2015. The research was done using a dynamic regression analysis of monthly data provided by the web portal MYTO CZ. Based on the available data it was shown that the increase in average prices of toll transactions of ecologically unfavorable EURO groups leads to a decline in the share of total realized transactions. As a result carriers are most likely motivated to vehicle fleet renewal, which is reflected in the increase in the share of cars with lower environmental load.

This bachelor thesis analyzes cinema market in the Czech Republic. Multiplexes are crushing their competition of regular cinemas in number of spectators and net revenues. The main aim of the thesis is to prove that product differentiation and distance between the competitors are more important than standard relationship: quantity demanded - supplied price. Based on the data from UFD, where can be found information about all cinemas and multiplexes from the years 2006 - 2014, I estimate models using econometric analysis, which examines the effects of the determinants on the cinema demand. The main focus is on distance to the nearest competitor and quality factor. Conclusions of the thesis confirm that vertical differentiation has the biggest effect on the number of spectators and on the other hand, distance to the nearest competitor is not able to explain the damage from a distance. It turns out that the price differential reflects qualitative differences and the distance between the cinemas.

This thesis deals with a problem of a relationship between minimum wage and potential consequent unemployment. While solving it, I am trying to connect apriorism of the misesian branch of the Austrian school and a Bayesian approach. It will enable us to correct our subjective belief in certain hypothesis with regard to the new facts which may appear. Sentences of the Austrian school about a certain positive relationship between raising the minimum wage and unemployment of unskilled workers, based on claiming about a synthetic a priori character of these sentences, seems as not so convincing, after confrontation with the Bayesian epistemology and facts from other disciplines. Then I am trying to show, that refusing of a quantification of unique events seems to be wrong and not coherent with callings of the Austrian school for "realistic" foundaitons. The Austrian school may according to these findings give up its claim about unchallengeable certainty of its theories, and complement it with a healthy dose of this Bayesian approach.

This paper analyses the relationship between economic freedom and suicide rates in the world. Economic freedom in this study is described by two most respected indexes by Heritage Foundation and Fraser Institute, whose impact on suicideness is examined separately. This study uses cross-sectional data from the year 2012. Analysis suggets ambivalent effect of economic freedom on suicideness. Therefore, this paper divides economic freedom to two aspects: Personal economic freedom and business economic freedom. High personal economic freedom lowers the sucidie rate, while business economic freedom can act in the opposite direction and increase the suicide rate.

The thesis focuses on income inequality. It examines the occurrence of income inequality in the European Union and analyzes its causes through fixed effect method and three robustness tests among 23 countries between years 2005 -- 2013. The causes are divided into social demographic factors, labor market factors and factors of the globalization. The thesis confirms the influence of tertiary education on income distribution which is negatively correlated with Gini coefficient. The number of people aged 65 and older, together with the number of single households within the entire population, correlates positively with the income inequality level. Furthermore, the following factors turned out to be significant: the occurrence of part-time job contracts and labor taxation. The amount of temporary employees causes income inequality to decrease which is in contrast with the theoretical premise.

We are comparing the economic models of state social support which utilize the concept of the negative income tax. The comparison builds upon the overview of the main theoretical articles. We have analysed the proposals of various political parties regarding the negative income tax; in case of a Czech party's proposal of replacing a set of subsidies with the negative income tax, we have calculated the overall expected savings. For the purpose of the overall comparison, we selected the models of Friedman, Tobin, Sulik and the Earned Income tax Credit model. We benchmarked them in various theoretical and practical criteria. We conclude that they do not differ substantially except for their philosophical interpretation.

This study examines relationship between smoking cigarettes and wage. Studies have found statistically significant wage penalty for smoking cigarettes before (from 3 to 10 %). This study works with cross-sectional data consisting of US residents. The source of the data is The Panel Study of Income Dynamics which was found in 1968. The results in this work suggest 6-10% wage penalty for smoking cigarettes using 3 econometric models. The wage penalty can be caused for example by the health impact of smoking which can affect the productivity of worker. It can be also explained by differences in education between smokers and nonsmokers or by the discrimination of smokers on labor market.

This paper deals with the development of unemployment and job vacancies through the time. To examine the influences that affect their development, I used the theoretical framework of UV curve. Most its theoretical assumptions are confirmed. During the period from 1996 to 2013 in the Czech Republic there is a strong correlation between related index of monthly rate job vacancies and unemployment. Likewise, both variables show statistically significant dependence on the development of pure domestic product. Contrary to theories, models failed to show any correlation between the variables and the index of average wages for the selected period. Analysis of the shape of the curve itself also showed that the unemployment trend in the Czech Republic showed a growing trend that is likely to increase due to structural unemployment.

This bachelor thesis analyses the impact of selected factors on the amount of food delivery services ordered by 81 clients of non-profit organization called Oblastní charita Strakonice during the period from 1. 11. 2013 to 30. 10. 2014. Based on analysis by random effect method, the thesis confirms correlation of monthly number of ordered services with two explanatory variables: number of household members and grade of care subsidy. The analysis implies that increase of number of household members by one member leads to decrease of monthly number of ordered services by 2-3 tasks. On the other hand, increase of grade of care subsidy by one grade leads to increase of monthly number of ordered services by approximately two tasks. Other factors included to the models are not correlated with explained variable at level below alpha = 0, 1. Findings mentioned above are consistent with information said in the theoretical part of my thesis.

The purpose of this thesis is to explore the question whether students of the Faculty of Economics are more rationally selfish than students of other faculties of the University of Economics. The specific research method that was used is the ultimatum game with the dictator game as a supplement. I applied regression and descriptive analysis to my dataset. According to the overall results, one could deduce that students of the Faculty of Economics are indeed different; however, these results are not significant enough to confirm the selfish-tendency hypothesis. Egalitarians who divided the 200 Czech crowns stake equally were the most frequent group among the 160 participants of the experiment. Results of the comparison between undergraduate and graduate students of the Faculty of Economics also imply that the self-selection hypothesis can be considered more relevant than the learning hypothesis in this case.

This thesis deals with the determinants of youth unemployment It uses the panel data regression analysis of EU countries. The work assembled models with the dependent variable the unemployment rate and the model is estimated for each demographic group. The models are represented by institutional variables, the macro-economic variables, demographic variables and variables representing education. The goal is to prove or disprove the hypothesis that individual determinants affect differently to the youth unemployment rate and unemployment rate of main age group. Partial task is to answer the question whether more significant determinants of unemployment rate are institutional or macro-economic determinants. The result of the analysis work is that institutional factors are not important determinants of unemployment rate. Conversely, macro-economic variables, GDP growth and inflation are significant determinants. Significant determinants are also variables representing education. The estimated coefficients of these significant determinants and variables employment labor protection and the tax rate are higher for young people than for the main age group. However, there was not found determinant that would be robustly more significant for youth than for main age group.

The work aims to analyze the influence of the number of legally owned firearms on crime in the Czech Republic. The main hypothesis is chosen on the basis of previous empirical research from the United States. The work assumes that the effect of the number of legally owned firearms held by civilians has a negative impact on the overall crime rate in the Czech Republic. The hypothesis is tested by using the metodology of regression analysis of time series for the whole country between the years 2003 - 2013 and regression analysis of panel data for 14 regions in the Czech Republic between the years 2009 - 2013. Based on the obtained data six models observing the effect of the number of firearms and the number of firearm license owners to overall crime, murder and burglary and theft. The result is the finding of a positive impact on the number of legal guns in overall crime in the country. Unfortunately, the observed variable of legally owned firearms is statistically insignificant in all models. The work opens up new possibilities for further study of the influence of firearms on crime in the Czech Republic.

This diploma thesis analyzes the impact of education on unemployment of citizens of the Czech Republic. It utilizes data from the ISSP international survey between years 1994-2012. The main assumption of this work is that education reduces the likelihood of individual's unemployment. This hypothesis is confirmed by using the Probit method, in several models accompanied also by the instrumental variable approach. The instrumental variable method helps to identify the causal effect of education on unemployment. Results show that education has greater impact on women. Each additional year of schooling reduces the likelihood of a woman's unemployment by 1 percentage point and likelihood of a man's unemployment by 0.75 percentage points. In additional models, education is measured by highest reached level rather than years of schooling. Results confirm that the probability of unemployment is lower for people with higher level of education than for others.

The main purpose of the thesis is to identify the nature of the relationship between the freedom and openness of the international trade and migration. My hypothesis says, that reduction in the level of trade barriers can, according to the Stolper-Samuelson theorem, lead to equalisation of the factor prices in particular economies. If the differences in wages are also reduced, decrease of the migration may occur, due to reduction in benefits and/or rise in costs of migration. The analysis is performed using two regression models looking for main determinants of the emigration and immigration. I estimated the models using panel data from selected European Union member countries over the past 15 years. The results shows, that trade openness is important factor which lowers the migration Given those results, set hypothesis was empirically verified.

The aim of this thesis is to analyze the determinants of unemployment in Ústecký region. The panel data for 7 regional districts from period 2005 -- 2013 with total of 63 observations were used to construct the econometric model estimate. The model included variables from demographic and economic characteristic of the region. Real gross average wage, share of women in population and share of foreigners in population have been found the most significant. Comparative models of male and female unemployment proved, that male unemployment is more sensitive to wage change as well as to share of foreigners in population. Education variable had to be withdrawn from the model due to high multicollinearity, therefore it was tested on a separate model, which proved the negative relationship between share of tertiary educated population and share of unemployed.

Thesis is devoted to Work and Travel programme, specific form of exchange visit to United States of America. The set goal is to identify main determinants of czech students demand for this programme, specificically to find what is the role of exchange rate between dollar and czech crown. Another goal is to analyze one of the major agencies new pricing policy and find out, whether this change brought any benefit to company in a sense of client increase. Focus is also on impact on customers response to this change. Results are that for anylizing the demand there is not enough data available causing that used models are not significant. When analyzing new pricing policy impact, it appears that there is a positive effect on amount of clients present and that it changed customers behaviot in a sense of earlier registration.

This thesis main focus is to test the existence of relationship between number of pharmacies in a region and its properties. On data panel spanning over period from 2005 to 2012 in 73 regions, totaling to 578 observations I based econometric model. Average percent of sick leaves, share of pension recipients, share of doctors, the number of parts of village, and population density have been found to be statistically significant. Based on the model, implementation of regulatory fee per prescription was not statistically significant toward the number of pharmacies, even though it affected amount of prescriptions that were used in 2008. Impact of income was not analyzed due to lack of data.

This work analyzes factors, who affect the attendance of the Terezin Memorial. In my work I used data of daily attendance during the years 2003-2012. Increase of the price of one crown causes a decrease in attendance ceteris paribus by 0,55 % in the area of the Small Fortress, by 0,98 % in the area of the Ghetto Museum and by 0,80 % in the building of the Magdeburg Barracks. Daily rainfalls has an insignificant effect in all three models despite some parts of expositions are placed in open-air locations. The daily temperature affects the attendance positively only it is less than 16°C in the Small Fortress, then begins to decrease. The temperature increases the attendance positively only it is less than 17°C in the Ghetto Museum and 15°C in the Magdeburg Barracks. The area of Magdeburg Barracks has only indoor expositions. The infulence of weekends was proved as negatively in all three areas which is different from other works. The Terezin Commemoration Ceremony increases the number of visitors ceteris paribus over 200 % in all three models. The increase of the price in the combined ticket (allowing entry in all three areas at a bargain price) increases the attendance of Czechs ceteris paribus by 0,68 %. It doesn't have a significant impact in the case of foreign visitors. The daily temperature affects the attendance of Czechs positively only it is less than 13°C, in the case of foreing visitors until 21°C. Kever Avot (commemoration act) increases the attendance of Czechs and decreases the attendance of foreigners.

This thesis deals with the analysis of equilibrium and disequilibrium factors that have impact on the unemployment rates in the regions of the Czech Republic. Panel data from the 1993 to 20012 period were used in the analysis. One of the main factors of the differences in the unemployment rate between the regions is the proportion of people aged from 15 to 29 years in the population. The increase of one percentage point in this ratio causes an increase in the unemployment rate in the respective region of 2.5 %. Another important factor that was revealed in the analysis was the proportion of high school graduates among the population. With the increase of one percentage point in this factor, the unemployment rate falls by 7.3 %. The regions were divided into two groups based on their unemployment rate for the purpose of an extended model. The results suggest that the unemployment rate in the regions with higher unemployment rates is more influenced by the sectoral composition of the economy than in those with lower unemployment rates. In these regions it is the regional amenities that play the key role.

This paper examines wage discrimination against women in the labor market and the impact of marriage on their earnings. Married women are looking for work which is less time consuming and physically demanding and it is possible to combine childcare and household, leading to lower earnings. The paper used cross-sectional data for the Czech Republic from the web survey WageIndicator for 2011 and 2012. Using the ordinary least squares method is found marriage penalty in the amount of 8 - 10 %. Results of my study suggest that place of work or foreign ownership of companies, where the woman works, significantly influences the level of wages.

This paper examines if there is marriage premium for men in the Czech Republic by using cross-sectional data from WageIndicator survey for 2009 and 2010. This paper inquires whether it is possible to explain this premium by any of the existing theories. Marriage premium is estimated in the amount of 12 -- 15 %. The results do not seem to be in line with the productivity theory or the specialization theory. The theory of human capital accumulation has been proved. On the contrary, the discriminatory theory seems to be plausible explanation of this phenomenon.

This thesis deals with the determination of the player labour market for the American professional sports league Major League Soccer (MLS). In the theoretical part I focus on the description of the league's development along with the salary politics rules. Using the two stages least square method in the empirical part I then provide the model for the estimation of player's marginal productivity (MRP). In the first step I explain the correlation between the percentages of obtained points by teams with player statistics. In the second step I examine the influence of this variable along with other factors on team's revenues from attendance. Afterwards I compare the calculated player's MRP with their salaries and also test some additional factors that might influence players' salaries. Using this model and also some other simple regressions I conclude that MLS labour market is a monopsony market structure. Besides I found out that forwarders market seems to be the closest part of the MLS labour market to the competitive market structure. In conclusion I discuss possible model's weaknesses, which turned out to be especially dependency of players on their co-players' on-field performance.

This thesis is focused on the quantification of the influence of installation of blue zones of paid parking in Prague and other factors (square metres, the distance to centre, kind of a building...) on the offer price of residential real estates. The thesis assumes that installation of blue zones increase a comfort of residents and due to this increase also a price of real estates in this area. Data set consists of 629 observations. The influence of the factors influencing the offer price of real estates is measured by ordinary least squares. The result of regression analysis shows that existence of blue zones nearby the residential real estate increases its price by nearly 7 %. But the result hasn't been confirmed by the method difference in differences. Furthermore, it was found by OLS that in case of brick building, its price is ceteris paribus higher by 19,8 % than if the building is from panel. This result is almost identical with what Galster a Williams (1994) have measured in Ohio. Every next minute from center means decrease of price of residential real estate by 1,2 %. The positive influence of cellar and elevator hasn't been proven.

The theoretical part of the thesis describes the theory of human capital and education investments. The empirical analysis follows up the factors which influence the decision of the High school students in Teplice and Prague -- whether to study at university or not. The analysis is based on data, obtained by questionnaire survey, made in four types of high schools: the grammar school, the secondary technical school, the secondary health school and business academy. The main factors include the type of the secondary schools, the income of parents, study expenses, expected future salary and the income of parents, study expenses, expected future salary and the education of parents. The analysis has proven, that the students from Prague want to attend the university more than the students from Teplice. Significant factors for students from Teplice are the type of the high school, study expenses, the education of father while for the students from Prague are among the others important factors connected with the future salary and the education of mother.

In my thesis I explore the impact of unemployment on a number of rapes in The Czech Republic. I use annual panel data of The Czech Republic for districts and regions for the period 2005 - 2011. I want to prove the hypothesis about positive correlation between the number of rapes and the unemployment rate. The second question is whether this dependence is more significant in the case of unemployment rate of men. The analysis was based on panel data by ordinary least squares. I found a positive relationship between basic variables in terms of district but not in the case of regions. I did not find significant effect of the unemployment rate of men.

In this work I investigated the influence of selected explanatory variables on attendance of the football club FK Pelhřimov during seasons 2001/02 -- 2010/11. Obtained data were subjected to econometric analysis and linear regression model revealed factors, which most influence the attendance. Key factors include regional rivalry, derby matches attract about 70 % more spectators. Other important factors include match day, ticket price and position in the competition. Positive relationship was found between attendance and ticket price. Influence of other variables (number of goals, number of wins, competition, opening match, temperature, rain and field) wasn't found important or the relationship was small.

This thesis analyzes the impact of unemployment on the political preferences of citizens of the Czech Republic. It utilizes individual data from the international ISSP research for years 1994-2010. The hypothesis saying that unemployed people prefer left-wing parties to right-wing parties has been confirmed using the probit method. The probability of left-wing preference in case of entrepreneur is 14.1 percentage points higher than for unemployed person. This probability for economically inactive person is 4 percentage points lower. The assumption stating that positive influence on left-wing preference is stronger for involuntarily unemployed individual has been confirmed by the additional models. Voluntarily unemployed subjects prefer left-wing parties with probability 16.1 percentage points lower than involuntarily unemployed individuals. A positive influence of age on preferences of left-wing parties and positive influence of religion on preferences of center parties have been confirmed. On the other hand, preferences of right-wing parties grow with higher social class or with increasing municipality size.

This thesis deals with the influence of unemployment on the voting behavior of citizens. It mainly focuses on the elections to the Chamber of Deputies of Czech Republic in 2006 and 2010. The fixed effects method was applied to the panel data using 133 territorial units. Through the application of models I found that the increase of unemployment by 1 percentage point will increase the share of votes for left-wing parties by 0.23 percentage point within the valid votes cast, while the increase of the proportion of votes for right-wing parties is 0.48 percentage point. Unemployment decreases the share of votes for the centerist and small parties. That indicates that unemployment polarizes electorate towards large parties. The results show that the unemployment is slightly more advantageous for the right, but has no significant effect on the election results. Its effect on voter turnout was not proven. Other results indicate that "nicer" weather during elections diverts electorate from small and centrist parties.

Students who participated in athletics are estimated to receive 20% better grades than their non-athletes colleagues. These findings suggest that athletic participation may enhance the development of motivation, competitive spirit, confidence, discipline and team spirit. Sport participation seems to be a form of human capital investments. We can see stronger effect of individual than collective sport participation. Based on these findings we can assume that wage premium for athletes, as previous studies found, may be caused by real higher productivity of work and study. Other important determinants of academic performance are health and preference of study preparation over sport. Athletes feel more attractive than non-athletes although there wasn't found association with learning outcomes. In the case of combination of sport and employment time costs overweight benefits and performance getting worse.
