Objectives. To characterize, by means of bibliometric indicators, the scientific publications of the Peruvian Experimental Medicine and Public Health Journal, 2010-2017. Materials and Methods. A bibliometric study in which the publications were retrieved from the data base of Scopus. The bibliometric production indicators were: number of publications per year and type of publication. Brief original and original articles were considered as units of analysis based on number of authors, institutional affiliation, and country of corresponding author, type of research and study design. The impact indicators were: number of citations by publication according to Scopus, metric of impact, such as CiteScore, Scimago Journal & Country Rank (SJR), and SciELO Public Health. Results. A total of 1,045 publications were made by the RPMESP: 40.1% of publications corresponded to original articles and original briefs; 1,837 authors contributed with these publications; 134 institutional affiliations were declared by the corresponding authors; 48,0% were research works on determinants of a health problem; on the other hand, 90.5% corresponded to observational studies. The publications analyzed received 945 citations, of which 78.5% were for publications for the 2010-2013 period. Conclusions. Four of ten publications of the RPMESP correspond to brief original or original articles. According to diverse formulas of calculation, the impact metric of the RPMESP shows an ascending trend; however, their magnitude is lower versus other regional journals. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

- Abstract
Background: The use of isotretinoin is indicated in the treatment of severe acne; however, its adverse effects are important. Objective: To update the first Mexican Consensus on the use of isotretinoin in severe acne vulgaris, which took place in 2009. Methods: It was carried out a literature search between June 2009, and February 2015, in order to evaluate topics to be discussed; materials were sent to the experts to promote the debate among participants. The topics of interest were analyzed during the consensus with the Delphi modified method, using an instrument previously validated. 15 certified dermatologists with experience in handling acne with isotretinoin took part in the study; seven of them were involved in the previous consensus. Results: Several cases of isolated adverse events were identified. Neither systematic reviews, meta-analyses nor comparative, randomized, controlled clinical trials were published during the observation period. Conclusions: Isotretinoin is still the best treatment for severe nodulocystic acne. However, it must be taken into consideration its teratogenic effect on pregnant women and its association with inflammatory bowel disease, depression and suicidal ideas. Monitoring with laboratory tests is a tool for identifying possible adverse events. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

- Abstract
In 2014 the Mexican government implemented taxes to reduce the consumption of sugar-sweetened beverages and nonessential energy-dense foods. In this manuscript, we analyze the scientific evidence linking the consumption of these products to chronic diseases, and summarize the studies that have evaluated the observed and expected impact of food taxes in Mexico. The implementation of taxes to unhealthy foods has reduced purchases of sugar-sweetened beverages in 7.6% and nonessential energy-dense foods in 7.4%. A reduction in consumption could decrease obesity prevalence by 2.5%; prevent 20 000 cardiovascular disease events; 189 000 diabetes cases; and 20 000 cardiovascular deaths. Additionally, this impact could save nearly 1 173 million dollars from healthcare costs. Taxes to unhealthy foods should be strengthen up and remain as an integral part of the national strategy to reduce obesity and chronic diseases in Mexico. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

This note describes an experience of archival work with born-digital records. The remarkable presence of digital tools and techniques on the historian's desktop and the growing series of binary documents originates questions and problems in the daily intellectual work. The tensions between archival practices with dispositions pertaining to the print culture and the kind of experience described in this note call for new and enriching approaches. Two approaches are presented here that renew questions about the notion of Archive. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Most of the national and international documentary heritage are on paper. From industrialization in the manufacture of such material, paper with acidity levels has been produced which, together with other factors, has been causing the deterioration of this type of documentary heritage. In recent decades, with the incorporation of new paper production processes this problem has been partly solved. The international standards organism ISO has drafted two rules in this connection: ISO 9706 and ISO 11108. With the spread and recommendation for the use of permanent paper for preservation of documentary heritage in the long term, it is essential to know the standards and be well informed. This article describes the variables in the manufacture of paper that influence the permanence of the papers. It also identifies the concepts and history that surround both ISO standards and the main characteristics and component parts of them. The annex provides a glossary of key technical terms used. The objective of the present investigation consisted of developing gelled milk from soymilk destined for the feeding of the elderly. For the selection of the levels of soy milk solids and the mixture of stabilizers, levels of 6, 7 and 8% and between 1.05 and 1.45% were tested respectively, it was decided to develop a product reduced in sugar, considering as response variable the global sensory evaluation and the attribute of texture, consistency. The analysis of the results was performed using the response surface methodology and numerical optimization of multiple responses. To establish the proportion of banana flavoring, the optimal formulation was subjected to a ranking test using the Friedman test. The gelled milk was characterized in its main physical, chemical and microbiological indicators and to establish the sensory characteristics, a descriptive test was carried out. The evaluation of the acceptability of the product was carried out by means a population sensory acceptance test. It was concluded the possibility of obtaining from soymilk, gelled milk without lactose and cholesterol with adequate compositional, sensory and microbiological characteristics. The result in the evaluation of the overall quality allowed an evaluation of very good, while 96% of the participants evaluated the product between the category I like it a lot and I like it extremely. - Abstract
This article presents the results of a research in the classroom in the subject Programming I, initial course of computer programming in Systems Engineering and Computing. The research pretend to approach the impact of two methodologies of problem solving based on programming logic and the use of programming languages for its implementation. We use a qualitative perspective, as far as the students' performance as programmers, and quantitative, in what corresponds to the qualification of the written evaluations. It has been used to structure two parallel courses, using different methodologies for solving programming problems. With the first group, a methodology was implemented based on the conceptual resolution of these problems using solutions on paper and with the other one we use resolution of problems based on the intensive use of the computer. The results show a very interesting trend that allows us to make some important inferences regarding the promotion of logic and the approach of solutions in the paper against the use of the computer and the deepening in the purely technological knowledge. Conclusions leave open doors of the discussion about the different and possible ways that the students of programming to appropriate, assimilate and apply the own knowledge of this area. - Abstract
In the digital age the ways of reading have experienced transformations that alter traditional dynamics and coordinates of space and time. For more than five hundred years the written language- printed and linear- has been characteristically at the epicenter of knowledge, leaving in a subordinate position other ways of acquiring knowledge. This paper describes the characteristics of digital reading, that establishes a first step toward a grammar of digital reading. Further, those characteristics are defined through cognitive, haptics and hipertextual issues. This paper emphasizes how screen reading does not aspire to compete with traditional reading because the past and present can be conjugated in new forms of cultural hybridizations. It also outlines an overview of the role of reading in the transmedia narrative. Understanding the aspects that interest the nature of digital reading is one of the ways to move forward with critical knowledge in virtual scenarios that offer us new possibilities of creation and access to knowledge. - Abstract
Predatory journals have been defined as a fraudulent model that takes advantage of the golden route implemented by some open access publications. These journals exploit the business of charging authors, promising quick and low-cost publication. However, they do not comply with the tasks of any scientific journal, such as peer review or digital preservation of original writings, and therefore they publish papers of questionable quality, methodology and reproducibility. For these reasons, this research aims to determine the level of knowledge that active researchers of the Universidad Tecnológica Metropolitana (UTEM) have about predatory journals. For the study, a survey was used as a data collection instrument, which was sent to the active researchers from the UTEM. From the results obtained, it was possible to conclude that the UTEM researchers are familiar with the term predatory journals and can identify certain characteristics of these journals, such as the fact that they do not perform an adequate peer review process, offer a fast publication process at low cost, and have similar titles to those of renowned journals, in addition to being able to identify some tools for their detection. - Abstract
A biosimilar (BS) is a biological drug that contains a version of the active substance of an already authorized original biological product. The BSs are marketed after patent period of the original drug has ended and once it has been demonstrated that the differences regarding the innovative medicine have no relevant effect on its safety or clinical efficacy. The Spanish Society of Rheumatology, in line with the European Medicines Agency, considers that because of its nature and complexity of production, a BS cannot be considered to be the same as a generic drug. The Spanish Society of Rheumatology expresses an unequivocal commitment to the sustainability of the health system in our country and our steadfast alignment with all measures designed to ensure continuity, without reducing the quality of care. Therefore, we believe that the advent of BSs will likely facilitate access of patients with rheumatic diseases to the biological drugs. This article reviews the European Medicines Agency requirements for authorization, the Spanish legal framework and controversies on BS and presents the position paper of the Spanish Society of Rheumatology on these drugs. - Abstract
The aim of this paper is to compare 19th-century Latin American novels about piracy with 20th-century novels about drug trafficking in order to demonstrate that organized crime creates its own sovereignty juxtaposed with state sovereignty and that both pirates and drug traffickers are constantly renegotiating their relationship with the state. The literary corpus from the 19th century includes El filibustero (1864), by Mexican writer Eligio Ancona, and Los piratas en Cartagena (1886), by Colombian writer Soledad Acosta de Samper; from the 20th century, Contrabando (1991), by Mexican writer Víctor Hugo Rascón Banda, and La Virgen de los Sicarios (1994), by Colombian writer Fernando Vallejo. This paper is divided into two sections; the first section deals with the relationship between pirates and drug traffickers and the State. It discusses the attitudes of the writers towards the State and the implications of the State actors in the illegal business. The second section discusses the existence of juxtaposed sovereignties represented through the creation of the social imaginary of piracy and drug trafficking. Drawing on historical and political resources on piracy and drug trafficking, this paper aims to create an interdisciplinary environment to discuss organized crime in literature and its political influence on society. - Abstract
In recent years, two processes of monetary innovation have occurred simultaneously: the digitization of money and the rise of social currencies. These trends have been integrated and have led to the emergence of what we call digital social currencies. This paper has two objectives. On the one hand, we assess the advantages and disadvantages of a complete digitization of social currencies. While new technologies and digitization offer significant advantages for social currencies, such as the possibility of making them more far-reaching and efficient, they can also have several challenges and problems. Among the most important problems is the exclusion of use by individuals with little interest or digital skills. Focusing on this problem, in the second part of the paper we conduct a quantitative analysis, using multilevel logistic models and data from the Global Findex survey, to discern which part of the population are less susceptible to the use digital money. Knowing which population groups might be excluded from digital social currencies can be used to develop and design public policies aimed at improving financial and digital inclusion for the entire population. Mild Cognitive Impairment (MCI) is a nosological entity characterized by cognitive complaint, decreased performance on objective tests and autonomy in activities of daily living. Cognition-oriented interventions are suggested to slow the deterioration and improve the quality of life of the older adult. These interventions can stimulate a single domain or more than one and are usually implemented using the traditional format, pencil and paper, which is widely accepted for its accessibility. However, reviews analyzing research on these interventions are scarce. In the present article, a systematic review was conducted from 2012 to 2022. The search yielded 1349 articles, of which 19 met the inclusion criteria. All studies were clinical trials, mostly interventions of the multidomain cognitive training type with a duration of up to 6 months, and preferably twice a week. The implementation of pencil-and-paper cognitive interventions is still in force, providing positive results in terms of cognitive level, Well-Being and metabolic changes. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

SOCIAL responsibility of business , *AGRICULTURE - Abstract
Mexico occupies first place in mining exploration in Latin America, a situation that has caused alarm among native peoples because the implementation of extractive projects threatens their vital space. The objective of this paper is to analyze the actions of Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) of the Ixtaca Project in Ixtacamaxtitlán, Puebla, as well as the strategies of territorial defense undertaken by the communities to stop its expansion. Data was gathered through one survey, one workshop and various interviews conducted in three communities a!ected by the project. Results discuss three actions of CSR: 1) job o!ers; 2) investment in community infrastructure; 3) support for social events. Three main defense strategies were identified: 1) collective agreements refusing to sell water to the company; 2) legal litigations in favor of the right to be consulted as native peoples; 3) the strengthening of peasant agriculture thanks to the defense of the ejido, the conservation of irrigation water and the support received from the federal program Sembrando Vida. The paper concludes that, despite the negative impacts of RCS actions, these strategies have proven e!ective because mining concessions have been cancelled and some families have returned to agriculture. The shore line is the limit that separates the public water domain from the property of individuals, the criterion for its delimitation is stated by law, both in Argentina and in other countries of the world. But its practical analysis remains a matter of current discussion. In this paper, a geomorphological interpretation of the established criterion is proposed as well as a methodology for its delimitation. To achieve this, different international, national, provincial and papers on shore line works were analyzed, which allowed to establish a criterion adjusted to the natural form of the channel and to cartographically define the shore line by using products of Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAVs). If the waterfront is delimited on the basis of natural facts, its indubitable mark on the ground will be close to what actually belongs to the public water domain. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

- Abstract
This paper addresses another form of scandal, namely pretence, imposture, transvestism, based on the analysis of the case of Ana María Antonia de Soto -- or Sotomayor, or Soto y Alhama, for she used different surnames -- who served for five years as a marine under Charles IV. When discovered, cases like this were deemed scandalous, for they represented a kind of transgression - even if they were more common than might be supposed. While her figure has been somehow popularised by recent research and literary works, two questions remain unanswered and will be here addressed, for they provide further knowledge about the case. The first one refers to the conceptual, historical, and socio-cultural contexts behind her experience, for they are fundamental for an adequate understanding of her case. The second refers to the reasons why she could act as she did, and also to what her life after being exposed as a woman reveals. Both questions are particularly relevant to understand her process, and represent the main research aims of this paper, which will inevitably include some biographical notes as well. For this it will combine ecclesiastical, notarial, and municipal sources, as well as secondary literature, using a qualitative and comparative approach, in order to show that her behaviour was in line with a relatively well-defined model present in Europe at the time; and also how her family context, her education, and the experience of her sexual identity contributed to maintaining her disguise as a man for years. - Abstract
This paper addresses the notion of scandal and how scandal developed in real life from the perspective of the family. It explores the link between scandal and family conflict. Widows are taken as a reference of this particular realm of conflict. The paper considers cases in which they are at the origin of the conflict or they are involved in it, and analyses their behaviour, their agency, and their relationships in order to understand how scandals broke into the public arena, as well as their final stages, which coincided with material and symbolic ruptures in the family. In order to carry out this study, we have mainly used sources that illuminate widows both confronting situations of material rupture or family abandonment in the face of the scandal, as well as enduring symbolic rupture and litigation within the family. The work underlines how scandal was linked to conflict within families, whether patrimonial, economic or affective. It shows how it began within the household, how it developed, and how, rather than being hidden, was rather instrumentalised for specific purposes and interests. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

- Abstract
This paper studies female transgressions persecuted by ecclesiastical authorities at the end of the Ancient Regime in the region of Vila Real, in the Portuguese province of Trás-os-Montes, using as the main source of information the wealth of documents from the so-called «Visitas e Devassas» of the archbishopric of Braga. By systematically analyzing 8,395 accusations registered in the books between 1760 and 1818, a quantitative analysis is made in order to understand the intensity of the persecution of sins by the ecclesiastical authorities, its temporal evolution, the typology of the crimes committed, and their relationship with the marital status of the offenders. The paper attempts to relate these behaviours to the economic, social, and cultural structures of an eminently rural territory, and undertakes a comparative analysis with other Portuguese territories already studied. The information obtained points to a greater rigour in the surveillance of female deviance in comparison to male deviance and the preponderance of sins linked to sexual morality, especially concubinage, in which the prominence of unmarried women stands out. Likewise, the continuing importance of these transgressions at the end of the period shows the limitations of the disciplinary efforts in this field. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

- Abstract
Introduction: Public media are essential to offer a service of general interest to the population to have equitable access to information, culture, democratic participation and equal opportunities. However, they continue to transmit biases and gender stereotypes that can have a great social scope, also in its digital editions, where a large part of the imbalances presents in traditional media have been transferred and adapted. Methodology: This paper analyzes the representation of gender on the Twitter profile of the regional channel Canal Sur Noticias. For this, a content analysis of a total of N=754 tweets published in September and October 2022 is carried out to find out if there is an underrepresentation of women in news coverage and if gender biases and stereotypes are perceived in the sections, spheres of action, authorship, external sources and in the audiovisual content. Results: The findings reveal that women are clearly underrepresented in this social network, not only as protagonist, also as authors and external sources, and a relegation to the background, in sections and areas of lesser weight, in addition biases persist and stereotypes such as gender markings, traditional roles, or sexist language in text and images. Discussion and Conclusions: This paper show an imbalance in the representation of gender in the Twitter of the public channel, which adapts the same biases present in its traditional format, hindering the social advancement of women in the digital space. - Abstract
Intermediaries are professionals who enable the effective right of access to justice for people with intellectual and developmental disabilities, ensuring principles of equity, participation, accessibility and self-determination for them. This paper analyzes the presence and formative background of this figure from an international comparative perspective. Nowadays, we can find these professionals in the international law across different countries: some Nordic countries, United Kingdom, Israel, Azerbaijan, Taiwan, South Africa, Kenya, Canada, part of the USA, Mexico and Chile, Australia and New Zealand. In Spain, intermediaries are considered in the latest reform of the civil and procedural legislation (Law 8/2021, June the 2nd). This paper analyzes the formative background of this figure from an international comparative perspective. We find both formal and non-formal education in the background of these professionals. There is no doubt their profile must adjust to the needs of people with intellectual and developmental disabilities and the contexts that require the facilitation. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

- Abstract
The paper focuses on the study of social-ecological conflicts, more specifically on ecological distribution conflicts. First, it analyzes how these conflicts can be assessed from the conceptual framework of Nature’s Contributions to People. It then formulates some conceptualizations based on the conflicts addressed in the paper. And finally, it discusses how these conflicts highlight the contradictions of the dominant models of nature’s appropriation, in current capitalist societies. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

In Mexico, there is a lack in academic research about bisexual Health-Disease-Attention process. This paper analyzes the main problems about health-disease for bisexual people with a Social Medicine and a Collective Health approach. In order to do this analysis, this paper offers a systematization of research's discoveries related to the Health-Disease-Attention process in bisexual people. Problems on health-disease for bisexual people include worse mental health conditions in comparison to gay and lesbian people. As psychologists have few contextualized knowledge about bisexual health-disease situations, then they cannot adequately respond to bisexual people needs. Bisexual Health-Disease-Attention process is an historical and social product where the lack of visibility and the negative valuation functions as mechanisms to regulate people's sexuality, which can be reproduced in Health-Attention places, such as Mental Health ones. PUBLIC goods , *COMMON good - Abstract
To effectively address the grand challenges of our time, we cannot simply tinker around the edges by fixing market failures. We must actively shape markets to deliver on the objective of generating more sustainable and inclusive growth. This paper argues that an objective-oriented economy requires a market-shaping approach; one that accompanies the concept of the public good with the common good framing that is needed to design the interface for this collaboration. This is about structuring the conditions and governance mechanisms that shape the capabilities, tools, institutions, and partnerships needed to take concrete action. Building collective intelligence into these dimensions ex-ante is essential for maximising public value for all actors involved. This paper sets out how a market-shaping and common good framing can be conceptualised and brought together. Importantly, missions can be used to orient and coordinate policies, institutions, innovation, and investments around clear, ambitious, and measurable goals. Further, this paper addresses the implications for key global challenges, from climate change to pandemics. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

DEMOCRATIZATION , *THEORY of knowledge , *DECISION making , *INTERACTIVE learning , *TECHNOLOGICAL innovations - Abstract
Introduction: Currently, the specialized literature agreed on the need to democratize knowledge in techno-cognitive decision-making. In particular, some participation mechanisms are questionated because are considered mere exercises used to legitimize preexisting decisions. This accounts for the need to outline new tools to analyze the participatory dynamics in the generation of projects and technologies for local development. Objective: This paper aims to propose an analytical framework to map participatory dynamics, applied to the analysis of local development projects promoted by research institutions through the design and apply of a specific typology. Methodology: This qualitative research is based on two case studies, which involved indepth interviews with relevant actors, documentary analysis and fieldwork in key participatory action research. To carry out the analysis, we use a theoretical-methodological approach based on the sociology of constructivist technology, which proposes to inquire the way in which society and technology are co-constructed. Results: The analysis of two case studies alowed to identify two different trajectories of social participation. The first case initiate with aa broad participation experience, but derived a form of expert control. The second case began with expert control, but participation broadened and intensified throughout the process. Conclusions: Finally, the paper propose some reflections on how participatory dynamics work in the promotion of interactive learning processes and capacity building in technoscientific projects for local development. - Abstract
The main goal in this paper is to analyze the narrator of the novels Papá (2003), La patria (2006), Wërra (2020), Darwin o el origen de la vejez (2022) e Historia íntima del amor masculino (2022), by the Argentinian writer Federico Jeanmaire, from a gender perspective focused on the study of new masculinities. These autobiographic novels are characterized by being narrated in first person by a narrator that functions as a transposition of the author himself, who recalls his life experiences. Particularly, the paper focuses on investigating the relation between the narrator and hegemonic masculinities and its institutions, as well as on attitudes he unfolds in his own emotions or in the romantic love. This paper describes the results of an intervention to improve the development of skills in students studying for a degree in Social Education, and more specifically in the subject of Adult Education, by completing a learning biography of an adult learner, an iterative task that is subjected to a peer assessment process. The paper shows the didactic sequence that was designed and the results obtained in terms of the quality of the feedback provided by peers, which is a key aspect to promote peer feedback in professional situations in the future. The results show an improvement in the quality of the feedback, the students' evaluation of the peer assessment process, and the development of skills linked to the development of evaluative judgement. However they also highlight the need for criteria relating to processes and not just to tasks, as well as the need to improve the evaluative literacy of both teachers and students. - Abstract
This paper aims to point out some elements concerning the importance of the Essay in shaping Latin American critical thinking. To this end, it proposes to interweave two specific moments. Namely, the theoretical consideration of the epistemological value of the essay advanced by the Frankfurt School Critical Theory, and its particular function for Latin America, drawing on the historical context of Hispanic-American modernism, which covers the period of transit between the nineteenth and twentieth centuries. What is asserted, by means of this relational procedure, is that the use of the essay, a form of knowledge linked to the process of European Enlightenment, was paramount to establish both the lines of action and the very particularity of this region, as well as to base what can be considered a form of Latin American critical thinking. Additionally, this paper argues that its use was a matter of historical awareness. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

- Abstract
Diplomat, Egyptologist, writer and historian, Eduard Toda is remembered as the man who rescued the Algherese dialect of Catalan from oblivion and who helped rebuild the monastery libraries of Escornalbou and Poblet. On the occasion of the seventy-fifth anniversary of his death, this paper reviews Toda’s book collecting activities, his general love of books and his outstanding work as a benefactor of libraries, which together contributed to enriching our country’s book heritage. The paper then turns to Toda’s relationship with the school for librarians the Escola de Bibliotecàries, which was founded thanks to his donation of a number of book collections to the Library of Catalonia. As recorded in the archives of the old Escola, this relationship was based on a number of different activities: Toda’s trips to Escornalbou, which also provided an opportunity for cultural study; his organization of periods of residence for student librarians at Poblet to help rebuild the monastery’s library; his creation of classes in book restoration in degree courses in librarianship; and the creation of a workshop for restoring library materials, which for many decades helped to link the Escola and the Library of Catalonia. Finally, as the article shows, Toda’s ties with the Escola de Bibliotecàries were reinforced by the mutual affection existing between him and the school as well as by the activities he organized with its students, which gave the school its singular nature as a place of study during the 1930s. - Abstract
This article analyzes the social production of space in Atenquique, an industrial town in the southern region of Jalisco in western Mexico. The theoretical framework draws on insights from critical geography. Through the case of Atenquique we reflect on the transformation of the area from the beginning of the neoliberal period in Mexico. Neoliberalism ushered in the growth of precarious and insecure working conditions, something which has deepened over the past several decades. The methodology employed is based on ethnographic research undertaken over a period of four months in Atenquique. During this time period we used three different audiovisual methods to collect information: photography, oral history and the production of an ethnographic documentary film. The results of the study show how the ex-inhabitants of Atenquique have knit together complex constructions -both material and symbolic- that provide insight on how the changes of the past several decades have affected the area. In the conclusions, we return to the broader debates on the local and territorial consequences of the implementation of the neoliberal policies in Mexico [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

One of the challenges that the child librarians of the 21st century is to integrate the collection and the activities of the library with the new contents and events from the digital environment. In this way, you can promote learning and enjoyment in the library, taking advantage of the opportunity to improve products and services and even attract new users. To archived this successfully, it is necessary to know, select, acquire, integrate, visualize and dynamize the analog and the digital, identifying the activities that will fulfill each of these functions, which is what it does in this article. - Abstract
Although closed abdominal trauma is a frequent entity, its association with gastric injury is rare (approximately a 1.7%); however, it is a possibility that should always be taken into consideration during its evaluation. In addition to its transcendence as an isolated finding, its correlation with other lesions is essential. We present the following case not only because of the low frequency with which these sort of lesions are observed, but also because of its anomalous clinical features that make any suspicion virtually impossible, except for the mechanism of the trauma. Engineering Without Borders of the Basque Country (ISF - MGI), we are an NGO that develops its activity in the heart of university and in intrenational cooperation for development. We aim to involve people of different studies, experiences and cultures, into a Sustainable Human Development filosophy in which science and technology serve to social and emotional ends, towards wellbeing and in harmony with nature. We are comitted to a transforming education that questions the stereotypes under which we have been educated, the recognition hierarchy of the different disciplines, the social structure under which the paths that have brought us to present have been moulded, and ultimately, the educating system. We aim for a participative education, where comprehension has to do with an inner transformation of the person, and whose work is based on solving people's real problems, with the purpose of encouraging a science and technology at the service of people. With this purpose we have published Aplicación del Enfoque de Género en Proyectos TFG y TFM (Applying a Gender Perspective on End of Degree and End of Masters Reseach Papers), which aims to be a practical guide to afront investigation with a gender perspective. In the same we enphasise the areas in which ISF-MGI works: science and technology, university and international cooperation for development, although it could be valid for any discipline. With this guide we offer some clues on how to put on our "purple glasses" and collaborate in trnasforming the university through a feminist point of view. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

The objective of this paper is to provide the physical bases that allow more accurate diagnosis of the conditions of paper machines for better maintenance. The diagnostic of the mechanical condition of press felts and rolls in the press section of paper machines using the classical vibration analysis is complex, so maintenance of these elements is done in a preventive and not predictive way. In this work a mathematical model that describes the dynamic behavior of the presses in paper machines is developed. Through numerical simulations, the motion equation of the proposed model is solved and compared with measurements done in industrial machines. It is concluded that the proposed model properly describes the vibratory behavior of presses and provides the vibratory symptoms that allow the diagnosis of the problems that they may have.
