The article reports on the chemical plants including DuPont which are about to close due to global economic downturn. In May 2009, DuPont informed their customers that they would close the Hypalon plant which is the only U.S. plant of its kind. Edward Pruitt, chief procurement officer of Sun Chemical states that this closure exposes manufacturers and their clients to additional cost risks. Moreover, the Dow and Nova Chemicals Corp. are also shutting down without local production in the U.S.
